I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 80000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SHUDDERING. HONDA SAID IT WOULD COST $2,000-2,500 TO FIX BECAUSE IT IS POSSIBLY A TORQUE PROBLEM. PER ODY BLOGS MANY OTHER ODY OWNERS EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM. HONDA WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM. *TR
STRONG VIBRATION FELT IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND STEERING WHEEL WHEN DRIVING AT 40 TO 45 MPH. THERE WAS A DRONING NOISE AS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE 2010, BUT IDENTIFIED BY DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR ONLY IN FEB 2014. QUOTED 800 DOLLARS TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT ENGINE MOUNTS. ALSO IDENTIFIED REAR ENGINE MOUNT TO BE CLOSE TO NEEDING REPLACEMENT. CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE IN REPLACING THE ENGINE MOUNTS. WE JUST REPLACED CATALYTIC CONVERTERS DUE TO DIAGNOSTIC CODE P0420 TWO MONTHS AGO FOR 800 DOLLARS. HONDA'S REPRESENTATIVE (HIS NAME IS [XXX] REFUSED TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 45 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND WHEN SHE TRIED TO ACCELERATE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER NOR HAD IT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 101,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
STEERING OF HONDA ODYSSEY (2005 EXL)BECOMES VERY STIFF AND MAKES IT VERY HARD TO MANEUVER SPECIALLY AT SLOW SPEED AND AFTER HAVING DRIVEN IT FOR A WHILE. STARTED HAPPENING AFTER 40,000 MILES JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY BECOME STIFFER AND STIFFER. I AM WORRIED THAT IT CAN LEAD TO ACCIDENTS AS IT WORSEN FURTHER AND STARTS BECOMING EVEN STIFFER. MY WIFE PRIMARILY DRIVES THIS CAR AND SHE IS STARTED TO HAVE A HARD TIME TAKING TURNS AT SLOW SPEED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS WHICH HONDA NEEDS TO REPLACE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION JERKS THE VEHICLE FORWARD AT SPEEDS OF 20-45 MPH. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS YOU COULD BE DRIVING SLOWLY AT 15-20MPH IN SCHOOL ZONE AND THE TRANSMISSION JUDDERS AND JERKS THE VEHICLE FORWARD. HONDA IS MAKING CUSTOMERS SPEND $'S TO PERFORM TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHES, HAVE DEALERSHIP DO SOFTWARE UPDATES AND CHANGE TORQUE CONVERTERS. NONE OF THESE WILL WORK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE VALUABLE LIVES ARE LOST LIKE WITH THE TOYOTA INCIDENT. HONDA DOES NOT WANT TO ISSUE A FORMAL TRANSMISSION RECALL BECAUSE IT WOULD COST THEM HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS TO REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS. WE HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 8800.00 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SHUDDERING. HONDA SAID 4200.00 PLEASE. VAN JUST PAID OFF. HONDA WILL NOT STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND SAY THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THERE VANS.
REBUILD TRANSMISSION DUE TO WORN OUT DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS THAT CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION FLUIDS TO BREAK THE AXEL SEAL AND LEAK A LOT OF FLUID WHICH COULD OF DESTROYED TRANSMISSION ALL TOGETHER.
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY (VIN# [XXX]), AND I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN SOFT FOR A LONG TIME. SINCE I HAD BEEN HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM FOR A WHILE, WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I HAD THEM CHECK THE BRAKES WHILE IT WAS IN FOR OTHER THINGS. THEY TOLD ME THE BRAKE PADS WERE FINE AND THAT THEY BARELY HAD ANY WEAR ON THEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT'S JUST THE WAY HONDAS ARE. BUT WHEN I FIRST GOT IT BRAND NEW, I DIDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I FOUND AN ARTICLE TODAY ABOUT THE PENDING RECALL FOR 2007-2008 HONDA ODYSSEYS, AND IT DESCRIBED THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY ODYSSEY. I HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO STOP, OR EVEN TO GET IT TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO TURN. I CALLED HONDA THIS MORNING AND REPORTED IT, AND I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY ODYSSEY IS OUT OF WARRANTY, I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT IN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, HAVE THEM INSPECT IT, AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. I DON'T THINK THIS IS RIGHT. I FEEL THAT THE PROBLEM MUST BE IN MORE THAN JUST THE 2007-2008 MODELS, AND HONDA SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL. VEHICLE VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED AND ENGINE RPM. *TR
JUDDER IN TRANSMISSION, GOING UP INCLINE AT ABOUT 32MPH, 1500RPM, ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD. VEHICLE AT 65,000 MILES. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING IN OUR 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY, AND NOTICED SOMETHING KNOCKING. IT ALSO SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HAD THEIR WINDOW DOWN. WE PULLED OVER TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. OUR NEWBORN STARTED TO CRY, SO MY HUSBAND WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR. UPON PULLEY THE HANDLE, THE WHOLE DOOR FELL BACK OFF THE VAN. WE WERE TOLD THE PLASTIC ROLLERS WERE DEFECTIVE. THEY CRACKED WHEN WE HIT A POT HOLE AND LET THE DOOR SLIDE OFF THE TRACK. THEN THE PINS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO STOP THE DOOR FROM GOING OFF THE TRACK FAILED. HONDA SAID IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO WARRANT LOOKING INTO THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN DID NOT STOP WHILE I WAS BRAKING DURING A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE BRAKES GOT TO THE FLOOR AND I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING A MINOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET BUT I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPT. I WAS FOUND "AT-FAULT" AND THE VEHICLE I HIT RECEIVED COMPENSATION FOR COLLISION. THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE ALSO CLAIM HE WAS INJURED. *TR
AFTER APPROXIMATELY A ONE HOUR DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE, THE STEERING GOT VERY HEAVY IN THE OUTLET STORE PARKING LOT. MY WIFE NARROWLY MISSED A ROW OF CARS AT LOW SPEED (<5MPH) AS SHE PULLED IN, SINCE SHE COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL AS THE STEERING GOT EXTREMELY HEAVY. AFTERWARD, I TRIED SOME LOW SPEED MANUEVERS AND NOTICED EXTREMELY HEAVY STEERING. AFTER IT COOLED OFF IN A FEW HOURS, THE STEERING SEEMED TO BE MORE NORMAL. NOTE THIS STEERING PUMP WAS CHANGED ABOUT 1.5YRS AGO SINCE IT WAS MAKING ALOT OF NOISE AND VIBRATING. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH HAS HAD THE SAME REPORTED STOPPING ISSUE AS REPORTED BY NEWER MODELS. THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE PENDING RECALL FOR 2007-2008 HONDA ODYSSEYS, AND IT DESCRIBED THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY 2005 ODYSSEY WITH ONLY 45,000 MILES. WE HAVE HAD THIS CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AT HONDA DEALER AND THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS AND SPECULATE MASTER CYLINDER BUT UNDER COLD CONDITIONS THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS. I CALLED HONDA THIS MORNING AND REPORTED IT, AND I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY ODYSSEY IS OUT OF WARRANTY, I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT IN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, HAVE THEM INSPECT IT, AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. A/C CONDENSER PUNCTURED BY ROAD DEBRIS FOR THIRD TIME IN 5 YEARS. DESIGN FLAW; CONDENSER HAS NO PROTECTION BEHIND GRILL. EXPENSIVE, NON-WARRANTIED ITEM AND REPAIR! *TR
HONDA HAS KNOWN OF POWER STEERING ISSUES ON THE 2005-2010 ODYSSEYS. MY 2005 BECOMES DIFFICULT TO TURN AT TIMES AND WHINES LOUDLY. WITH THE DIFFICULTY STEERING, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 07-005 ADDRESSES IT, AND MENTIONS "GOODWILL" COVERAGE, BUT MOST DEALERS INSIST ON CHARGING $700 TO FIX THE ISSUE (SOMETIMES REPEATEDLY). A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR
MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A FAILED POWER STEERING PUMP. THE PUMP CREATES A LOUD WHINE WHILE DRIVING, MORE NOTABLE IN COLDER WEATHER. TURNING CAN BECOME SLUGGISH AT TIMES. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE VAN. I HAVE A QUOTE TO REPAIR THE PUMP FOR $590 PLUS TAX. I WILL BE BRINGING IT IN TO GET REPAIRED SOON. *TR
CAR WAS PURCHASED WITH BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS, BUT IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THEME WITH THIS ODYSSEY. PAID OVER $900 TO GET ALL 3 REPLACED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. SEEMS TO BE A VERY POOR DESIGN. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES/VIBRATES REALLY HARD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WE GOT NEW MICHELIN TIRES, GOT WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND BALANCING AND STILL THE PROBLEM EXISTS. DEALER KEEPS SAYING THE VIBRATIONS ARE AS PER HONDA'S SPECIFICATIONS, NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MAIN FRONT AIR BAG HARNESS, PASSENGER AIR BAG SHUT OFF MODULE AND THE SRS CHECK SENSOR WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. POWER STEERING FAILURE WHEN COLD OUTSIDE. HAS BEEN OCCURING FOR SEVERAL WEEKS WHEN OUTSIDE TEMERATURE IS BELOW APPROXIMATELY 40F DEGREES.
MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAD A LOUD WHINE WHEN TURNING, AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. TURNING WAS ALSO SLUGGISH AT TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A FAILED POWER STEERING PUMP AND RESERVOIR. THE VAN HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND SO I WAS NOT CHARGED FOR THE REPLACEMENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH 100,000 MILES ON IT. I PAID ABOUT 50% OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP AT AROUND 50-60K MILES ON THE CAR. RIGHT NOW AT 100K MILES, I'M CURRENTLY RUNNING ON MY 3RD SET OF POWER STEERING PUMP AND THE PUMP IS ACTING UP ON ME AGAIN AFTER ONLY 10K MILES ON IT. SO EACH PUMP LASTED AVERAGE OF 15,000 MILES. AND THE WARRANTY IS TOO SHORT THAT WHENEVER MY PUMP GOES OUT, I EXCEEDED MY WARRANTY ONLY ABOUT 3-4K MILES, WHICH HONDA DENIES TO COVER THE WHOLE THING. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 34,000 MILES ON IT. THE LEFT REAR SHOCK IS BLOWN AND NEEDS REPLACED. A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE SHOULD NOT HAVE A BLOWN SHOCK. THE POWER STEERING HAS PROBLEMS AS WELL. AFTER THE VAN HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR 15-20 MINUTES THE POWER STEERING MAKES LOUD NOISE DURING TURNS AND WHEN PARKING, THE POWER STEERING BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA DEALER AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER THE COSTS FOR EITHER REPAIR SINCE I'M PAST THE 36,000 MILE OR 3YEARS WARRANTY PERIOD. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED, THE STEERING ISSUE IS A BIG PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN A RECALL ISSUE!!!! IT'S VERY DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2005: BRAKES FAIL WHEN STOPPING ON A CURVE/TURN. DEALERSHIP SAYS NOTHING WRONG YET IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ON WARM DAYS. DURING SUMMER MONTHS IN PA IT WILL HAPPEN AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND FIRST AND THEN LOSS OF ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLES BRAKES. WONDERING IF SOMEONE NEEDS TO DIE BEFORE THIS IS FIXED!?! DEALERSHIP HAS HAD MY VEHICLE MANY TIMES ABOUT THIS AND "EVERYTHING IS FINE" CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE BRAKES SEEM SOFT COMPARED TO THE LOANER THEY GAVE ME. PLEASE HELP, THIS IS ENDANGERING MY FAMILY! ALL RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN PERFORMED, NOTHING HAS HELPED THE BRAKES INCLUDING THE FIX A FEW YEARS AGO. DEALERSHIP EVEN TELLS ME THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING YET INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS IT IS HAPPENING TO OTHERS! IT OCCURS DURING WARM WEATHER ANYWHERE FROM 55 DEGREES UP. THE RESULT IS DRIVER LOOSES CONTROL FOR A FEW SECONDS, LONG ENOUGH TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT, LUCKILY, I HAVE AVOIDED MANY OVER THE TIME I HAVE OWNED THE CAR.
PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR MALFUNCTIONED. DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE IN AUTOMATIC MODE. DOOR ALSO COULD NOT BE FULLY CLOSED MANUALLY. REAR DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT HOLD DOOR IN CLOSED POSITION. AS A RESULT, DOOR PARTIALLY CAME OPEN WHILE DRIVING. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TAILGATE FAILURE - WHILE MY WIFE WAS UNLOADING SOME GROCERIES WITH THE TAILGATE OPEN, SHE HEARD THIS BEEPING SOUND (FROM THE TAILGATE) AND THE TAILGATE BEGAN CLOSING. SHE DID NOT SUFFER ANY SIGNIFICANT INJURY ASIDE FROM FREAKING OUT WHILE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. NOW, THE TAILGATE DOES NOT STAY OPEN. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY - POWER STEERING FAILED. IT GOT VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. IT STARTED BACK IN NOV.2009 AND GRADUALLY GOT WORSE BY JANUARY 2010. WE TOOK IT INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPAIRED IT FOR $700-PARTS REPLACED. IT GOT SO DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL I PULLED A MUSCLE IN MY CHEST. *TR
DEAR SAFECAR.GOV: I AM AN OWNER OF A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ENGINE STALLING AND HIGHWAY SPEED DROPPED TO BELOW 15 MPH ON MY VAN SINCE JANUARY, 2010. IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES. I HAVE WORKED WITH HONDA DEALERS AND HONDA CAR FOR OVER EIGHT MONTHS, FROM JAN 2010 TO AUG 2010 WITHOUT SUCCESS. I THEN WENT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALER AND FINALLY ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM: THE 2005 ODYSSEY VAN IS THE FIRST MODEL AND YEAR HONDA HAS PUT THE NEW V6 ENGINE WITH THREE CYLINDERS SHUTTING OFF DURING CRUISING SPEED TO SAVE GAS, WHICH MAKES SENSE. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CYLINDERS, THE IDLING CYLINDERS BEGIN TO BURN OIL ON THE CYLINDER RINGS. AND THERE IS NO ?LOW OIL? WARNING SENSOR FROM THE CAR, BUT HAS A ?LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING?. HOWEVER, THE ?LOW OIL PRESSURE? WILL ONLY KICKS ON WITH THE CAR ENGINE STARTS TO STALL. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE MY VAN STAFF FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO LESS THEN 15 MPH IN A MATTER OF COUPLE SECONDS. IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES FROM JANUARY, 2010 TO MAY, 2010. I HAVE ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS AND DESCRIPTIONS. HONDA HAS BEEN DENYING ANY PROBLEM UNTIL THEY LIMITED RELEASE A NEW SOFTWARE IN JANUARY, 2011 TO PERIODICALLY FIRE THE IDLE CYLINDERS TO MINIMIZE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CYLINDERS SO THAT THEY WILL NOT BURN MOTOR OIL. TOOK IT TO DIAMOND BAR HONDA, THEY JUST RESET THE LIGHT WITHOUT DOING ANY CHECKING; THEY TOLD ME THIS IS HONDA IMPOSED STANDARD PROCEDURE. ANOTHER FEW MONTHS WENT BY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME HONDA CARE FINALLY AUTHORIZED THE PART REPLACEMENT. 2) I THOUGHT THINGS WERE OK NOT UNTIL THE 'ENGINE' LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH BIG AMBER MESSAGE STATING 'INSPECT VSA' ALSO. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, THE LIGHT WENT OFF. ON THE SECOND DAY, WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT I-60, SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING, BOTH 'ENGINE' AND 'INSPECT VSA' CAME ON AGAIN. AND THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN CONSIDERABLY ON THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO LESS THAN 20 MPH WITH DID NOT RESPONSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL MY CAR TO RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER, ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI-TRUCK. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DOWN RIGHT DANGEROUS AND UN-SAFE. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BY THIS FROM DRIVING AT 65 MPH AND SLOWED TO <20 MPH IN FEW SECONDS!! HOWEVER, THIS IS NO LONGER 'HONDA DRAGGING YOUR FEET AND SAVE COST ISSUE'. POWER STEERING FAILED IN HONDA ODYSSEY 2005. HEARD INTERMITTENT GRINDING NOISES WHEN STEERING, BUT NOISE GOES AWAY IN WARMER TEMPERATURES. HAD PROBLEMS STEERING AND TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP. COST ME $650 TO REPLACE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RESERVOIR. THE CAR ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NEVER REPLACED A POWER STEERING PUMP IN ANY CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED AND I HAVE ONE NOW THAT HAS 175,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF IT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. 1. DURING A ROUTINE SERVICE ON 12/22/2009 THE DEALER TECH / MECHANIC ADVISED THAT BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS ON MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WERE RUST PITTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT ON A RELATIVELY NEW CAR SINCE I OWN A 10 YEAR OLD 2001 HONDA ACCORD WHICH HAS NOT HAD ANY SUCH PROBLEM SO FAR - UNDER SAME DRIVING CONDITIONS. 2. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING EDITION. I HAD DRIVEN FOR 20 MINUTES, AND ACCELERATED TO PASS A SLOW-MOVING TRUCK. MY ACCELERATOR STUCK. I STOOD ON THE BRAKES BUT COULD NOT STOP. FINALLY, I THREW ON MY EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND THROW MY CAR INTO PARK. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE STUCK ACCELERATOR WAS CAUSED BY THE GAS PEDAL BEING STUCK UNDER THE FLOOR MAT. THREE PEOPLE EXPLAINED IT THREE DIFFERENT WAYS TO ME. ONE PERSON SAID THAT MY HONDA-ISSUED ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MAT WAS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED ON TOP OF THE CARPET MAT. BOTH WERE ISSUED AND INSTALLED BY JL FREED. INSINUATION WAS THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE REMOVED THE CARPETED MAT. THE SECOND PERSON TOLD ME THAT MY ALL-WEATHER MAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANCHORED. THIS WAS NEVER AN OPTION THAT HAD BEEN OFFERED TO ME AND AGAIN, WOULD INDICATE FAULT ON THE PART OF HONDA. FINALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT I MYSELF HAD INCORRECTLY INSTALLED THE MAT, WHICH GOES ACROSS BOTH FRONT SEATS AND AROUND THE FRONT CONSOLE. I ACCELERATED TO PASS A TRUCK WHILE ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE. MY ACCELERATOR STUCK DOING 60. I COULD NOT RELEASE IT BY STEPPING ON BREAK OR PUMPING IT. I NOTICED THAT MY CRUISE CONTROL HAD TURNED ITSELF ON. I TURNED IT OFF. I STOOD WITH ALL MY WEIGHT ON THE BRAKE AND SLOWED DOWN ONLY MARGINALLY. I PULLED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 20, WHERE I WAS ABLE TO THROW IT IN PARK AND STOP. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS HURT. VEHICLE IS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX WITH 89K MILES. THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT POWER DOOR LOCK FAILED, AND ALSO PREVENTED THE DOOR LOCK FROM BEING MANUALLY UNLOCKED. THIS WAS FIRST NOTICED ON DECEMBER 13, 2009. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE DOOR, EITHER EXTERNALLY OR INTERNALLY. THE POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL BUTTON WORKS CORRECTLY TO OPEN THE OTHER DOORS. A PASSENGER SITTING IN THIS SEAT CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR, AND IT CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE -- IT REMAINED LOCKED. I REPORTED THIS TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, AND IT WAS STATED THIS TYPE OF FAILURE HAS NEVER OCCURRED BEFORE. I OBTAINED A REPAIR QUOTE OF APPROXIMATELY $200, ASSUMING THE LOCK ACTUATOR WAS AT FAULT. I THEN BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP ON DEC.23, 2009; THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL WAS REMOVED, AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THE LOCK ACTUATOR HAD FAILED. THE PART (P/N 72115-S6A-J01) HAD TO BE ORDERED, AND THE FAULTY COMPONENT WAS REPLACED ON JAN.4, 2010. TOTAL COST FROM THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WAS $120.96. I HAVE RETAINED THE FAILED COMPONENT. *TR
