THE DRIVER SIDE ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. *TR
CAR WAS VIBRATING FOR OVER A YEAR. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT IT WAS. RECENTLY GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT. HAD CAR REPAIRED. ON THE WAY HOME CAR STARTED VIBRATING VIOLENTLY AND VSA LIGHT CAME ON. CAR STOPPED WORKING. TOWED TO SHOP AND WAS TOLD FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BAD GAS. I ASKED FOR SAMPLE OF GAS. HAVE YET TO RECEIVE IT. NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. I SAW RECALL ON FUEL PUMP 2005 MODEL YEAR. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2005 JUST AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HESITATE WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR. HONDA DEALER SAID REPLACEMENT FOR REBUILT (2 YEARS GARANTI) FOR $3000. *TR
I HAVE A SUNSHINE KIDS RADIAN XTSL INSTALLED WITH LATCH REAR FACING IN MY HONDA ODYSSEY. DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE RELEASE LEVER FOR THE LATCH STRAP, MY SON IS ABLE TO EASILY LOOSEN THE STRAP WITH HIS FOOT WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. IT ALSO LOOSENS IF HE ACCIDENTALLY HITS IT WITH HIS FOOD WHEN CLIMBING INTO THE SEAT. AS A CPST, I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. WHILE I AM WELL AWARE THAT I CAN INSTALL THE SEAT USING THE SEAT BELT, SUPERLATCH IS A MAJOR SELLING FEATURE OF THE RADIAN LINE, AND IT IS DEFECTIVE IN MY CAR. THE STRAP SHOULD NOT BE SO EASY TO LOOSEN. I CAN DO IT WITH THE LIGHT TOUCH OF JUST ONE FINGER. PLEASE MAKE SUNSHINE KIDS ADDRESS THE DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY FATAL ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR FOR RECALL 10V055000 (STRUCTURE: BODY: HATCH-BACK LIFT-GATE SUPPORT) IN JUNE 2010. ON NOVEMBER 6, 2010, THE CONTACT OPENED THE LIFT GATE WHICH FELL ON HER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE STRUT WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REPLACED THE PART WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED TO SELL THE CONTACT A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON THE PART. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
THE CAR SHUTTERS AROUND 40 - 50 MPH AS WELL AS ON INCLINES. I'M AMAZED AT HOW MANY COMPLAINTS THERE ARE ABOUT THIS AND HOW COMMON THE DEFECT IS THAT THE TWO PLACES I CALLED AFTER BEING TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALER THAT I NEEDED A $2200 TORQUE CONVERTER PUT IN KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. THE 05 ODYSSEY'S ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS PROBLEM. I'M SURPRISED THAT HONDA HAS LET THIS GO WITHOUT A RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED THE FAILURE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V097000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN ARRIVAL DATE FOR THE REPAIR PART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
REAR LIFT GATE STRUTS FAIL WITHOUT NOTICE. AT THIS POINT, THE REAR LIFT GATE IS EXTREMELY HEAVY AND DANGEROUS TO ONES SAFETY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON THIS VEHICLE. HONDA KEEPS REPLACING THE STRUTS WITH THE SAME PART NUMBER THAT CONTINUES TO FAIL. SAME REPAIR WAS COMPLETED ON THIS VEHICLE EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO. I REQUESTED A BETTER STRONGER OR BEEFIER REPLACEMENT STRUT,BUT SINCE MY VEHICLE IS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY KEEP REPLACING WITH THE SAME PART NUMBER. I HAVE FOUR SMALL KIDS AND IF IT WERE TO FAIL WITH ONE OF THEM STANDING UNDER THE LIFT GATE IT COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THE AIR CONDITIONING BEGAN BLOWING WARM AIR ON MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L LAST FALL. I HAD THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER PERFORM AN INSPECTION, AND HE STATED THAT I HAD A HOLE IN MY AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER THAT MUST HAVE BEEN DUE TO A ROCK. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS A DESIGN PROBLEM, WHICH HONDA WILL NOT ADMIT TO OR REPAIR AT THEIR COST. THE 2005 ODYSSEY HAS LITTLE PROTECTION AGAINST ROAD DEBRIS FROM THEIR NEW GRILL DESIGNS. HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE CARS AND PROVIDE PROTECTIVE SHIELDING. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY AND WAS DRIVING TO WORK, WHEN I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE VAN WAS OVERHEATING BUT NOTICED THE TEMP GAUGE WAS NORMAL. PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE. CALLED 911 AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE. CONTACTED AMERCIAN HONDA REGARDING THE SITUATION, AND LET ME KNOW THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. *TR
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION NOTICED AT 85,000 MILE OIL CHANGE, APPROX 1/2 QUART PER 1000 MILES DISSAPEARING. NO NOTICABLE SMOKE, NOTHING ON DRIVEWAY. LOSS OF THIS MUCH OIL BETWEEN MAINTENANCE CYCLES COULD CAUSE ENGINE SIEZE RESULTING IN ACCIDENT. SERVICE/MANUFACTURER CLAIM THIS LEVEL OF CONSUMPTION IS "NORMAL". *TT
MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY SHUDDERS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 AND 45. I WAS TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE MY TORQUE CONVERTER. THROUGH VARIOUS RESEARCH, I HAVE BEGUN TO SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM - THERE WAS A SAFETY BULLETIN (09-053) PUBLISHED FOR THE 07 AND 08 MODEL. *TR
STEERING SHAKING BADLY BEFORE A CAR IS COMING TO STOP (WHILE SLOW DOWN THE CAR). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE HATCH BACK LIFT GATE OPEN THE STRUTS FAILED. SHE STATED THAT THE LIFT GATED CLOSED WITH GREAT FORCE AND SPEED. SHE REFERENCED RECALL 10V055000 STRUCTURE BODY HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE AND WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,750 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,856.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DOOR SENSOR WAS CLEANED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE FUSE WAS REPLACED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY REPORTS CONCERNING THE FAILURE AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,066.
WHILE CASUALLY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION WILL START SHUTTERING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 15 AND 35 MILES PER HOUR. IN ORDER TO GET THE TRANSMISSION TO STOP SHUTTERING, I MUST PRESS DOWN HARDER ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GET THE VAN TO SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR ON MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY OPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 55 MPH. IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS!!!!!! *TR
SPONGY BRAKES WITH LOSS OF BRAKES. *TR
THE ODYSSEY VSA LIGHT WENT ON IN AUGUST 2010. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE BRIGHTON HONDA DEALERSHIP IN MI, THEY SAID I NEEDED TO HAVE MY VSA MODULATOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED FOR THE PRICE OF $1257.44. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANICAL ENGINEER THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED AT THIS LOW MILEAGE. I CONTACTED HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION IN TORRANCE, CA LAST MONTH. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT, HOWEVER, THEY WOULD GO 50/50.
THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE ODYSSEY VAN, A SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END OCCURRED. IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE ELECTRONIC MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 1500.00 LATER, THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. ON JUNE 28, 2012, WITH 122000 MILES ON THE SAME ODYSSEY VAN, THE SAME MOTOR MOUNTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS TIME, ALL THREE NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 2200.00. *TR
I OWN A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. SEPT 2009 MY AC ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING (BLOWING COLD AIR) I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I ALSO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CAR. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A FLUKE, CHANCE HAPPENING THAT A ROCK MUST HAVE ENTERED MY CONDENSER THROUGH THE FRONT GRILL AND CAUSED A HOLE IN THE CONDENSER. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST APPROX $800 TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE CONDENSER HAS TO BE REPLACED. I THEN PAID TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN ON 8/21/10. NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER. I DO NOT DRIVE ON DIRT ROADS AND AVOID CONSTRUCTION. THIS TIME I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR STORIES. I FOUND THOUSANDS OF THREADS OF OTHERS WITH HONDA ODYSSEY'S COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM. I FEEL IT IS A MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN DEFECT THAT ALLOWS ROCKS OR OTHER SUCH ITEMS TO PENETRATE THE CONDENSER. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THERE ARE AFTERMARKET GRILLS TO BE PLACED ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM WHICH IS YET AN ADDITIONAL EXPENSE AND CHANGES THE LOOK OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I THINK A RECALL IS IN ORDER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L (3.5L 6CYL 5A) AND A PROBLEM AS FOLLOWS; NATURE OF DEFECT: HATCHBACK LIFTGATE HYDRAULIC SHOCK IS NOT WORKING. I AM PLANNING TO REPAIR SHORTLY. PART NUMBER 74820-SHJ-A01 STAY,TAI PLEASE ADVICE. THANKS. *TR
I HAVE 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. IT HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, WHENEVER IT SHIFT GEAR AT LOW SPEED AROUND 40 MPH, IT HAS JUDDER PROBLEM. IT HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL NEED SOFTWARE UPDATES, SO THEY DID THAT. IT DOES NOT WORK THOUGH, IT IS JUST GETTING WORST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SUGGEST CHANGING THE TORQUE CONVERTER/REPLACE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION. THAT WILL BE VERY COSTLY. I AM HOPING YOU CAN INVESTIGATE THIS FAILURE AND STOP THE FORESEEABLE ACCIDENTS. THIS IS A DEFECT IN HONDA'S TRANSMISSION DESIGN, NOT BECAUSE OF WEAR AND TEAR. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT AROUND 95K MILES AND THE DEALERSHIP ALWAYS SUGGESTS DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS THAT LEADS TO NO FIX. THE PROBLEM GETS WORST AND NOT THEY SUGGEST REPLACING TORQUE CONVERTER. *TR
WE WERE INFORMED THAT OUR 2005 HONDA HAD A DAMAGED/BROKEN REAR ENGINE MOUNT. ADDITIONALLY, WE WERE TOLD BY THE HONDA SERVICE WRITER THAT THIS IF FROM NORMAL DRIVING WEAR AND TEAR, SUCH AS SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, ACCELERATION AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. IT CERTAINLY SEEMS AF IF HONDA TERRIBLY UNDER ENGINEERED THIS PART. THERE ACTIVITIES ARE PART OF NORMAL DRIVING. OUR VAN HAS 62,XXX MILES ON IT AND USED MOSTLY FOR SUBURBAN DRIVING, AND NOT EXCEEDING THE RECOMMENDED DRIVING CONDITIONS FROM HONDA. THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE $850 FOR THE ONE MOUNT. CLEARLY HONDA SHOULD RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE AND REPLACE THESE ITEMS, AT THEIR EXPENSE, FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING ON 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. TOOK IN FOR REPAIR AND WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY "ROAD DEBRIS" HITTING THE COMPRESSOR AND PUNCTURING IT. NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WE PURCHASED IN THE EVENT THAT SOMETHING WOULD GO WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE VANS, AND THERE IS A WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY COVERING THE ARE WITH A MESH SCREEN, BUT HONDA IS UNWILLING TO HELP IN ANY WAY. IT SEEMS THAT IT IS REASONABLE TO EXPECT THAT YOU COULD DRIVE ON THE ROAD WHERE THERE ARE ROCKS WITHOUT IT CAUSING THE COMPRESSOR TO BE PUNCTURED. I AM ALSO CONCERNED WITH THE ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY ISSUE OF THE CHEMICALS BEING RELEASED ONTO THE ROADS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN ON HONDA'S PART. HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY LIFTGATE STRUTS FAILED. OPENED THE REAR LIFTGATE TO REMOVE SOMETHING FROM THE TRUNK AND THE LIFTGATE DID NOT STAY UP. NOW EVERYTIME I TRY AND OPEN THE LIFTGATE, I WOULD NEED TO OPEN WITH ONE HAND AND REMOVE ITEMS OR PUT ITEMS INSIDE WITH THE OTHER HAND. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY ON JUNE 16TH, 2010. DURING THE TEST DRIVE AS WELL AS FOR A WEEK OR SO AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, NO PROBLEMS WERE NOTICED. HOWEVER ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, WE STARTED TO NOTICE THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER AROUND 40-45 MILES AN HOUR, USUALLY ON AN INCLINE. WE TOOK THIS VEHICLE ON A LONG TRIP AND THE SHUDDERING STARTED TO GET WORSE. ON JULY 19, 2010, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 21ST, THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT THEY HAD INSTALLED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT DIDN'T FIX IT. THEIR RECOMMENDATION WAS EITHER A TORQUE CONVERTER OR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE TECH WHO WORKED ON MY CAR SAID THEY COULD JUST REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND WOULD PROBABLY NOT HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS; HOWEVER, HONDA'S RECOMMENDATION WAS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY WERE WAITING ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTY CO. TO CALL AND SEE IF THIS WAS COVERED. LUCKILY, ON THURSDAY, JULY 22ND, THE WARRANTY CO. SENT SOMEONE OUT TO DECIDE IF THEY WOULD COVER IT. THE WARRANTY CO. DECIDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION OF MY MONTH OLD CAR TO THE TUNE OF $3700. ON FRIDAY, JULY 23RD, I FINALLY GOT MY VEHICLE BACK. HOWEVER, UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS RETURNING TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT VEERS TO THE RIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE CONDENSER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,200.
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX TAILGATE STRUT FAILED, CAUSING TAILGATE TO DROP SUDDENLY. THE DROPPING TAILGATE WOULD LIKELY INJURE A SMALLER PERSON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE CONTACT WAS APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES WHEN HE HEARD A SCRATCHING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE NOISE WAS INTERMITTENT AND WAS HEARD DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD THE CONTACT WOULD NOT HEAR THE NOISE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THE DRIVER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR OCCURRED IN JUNE 2010, WHEN VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN ACCIDENT, DENTS, OR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT IMPACT THE FUNCTION OF THE DOORS. SINCE THEN, BOTH PASSENGER AUTO SLIDING DOORS NOW HAVE TROUBLE CLOSING, AND WILL OFTEN CLOSE ON A PASSENGER, WITH THE PASSENGER'S BODY BEING THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES THE DOOR STOP CLOSING. SUMMARY: BOTH SLIDING DOORS EITHER DO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY (STOP SHORT AND HAVE TO BE RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES, OFTEN FORCED TO CLOSE); OR THEY CLOSE BACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER OPENING AND SCARE OR SQUISH THE PASSENGER WHO IS GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND WE FEAR THAT SOON THE DOORS WILL NOT STOP AND COMPLETELY CRUSH THE PERSON ENTERING THE VEHICLE, OR WE WILL HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR OPEN IF IT WILL NOT CLOSE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES ABOUT 4-6 ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE THE DOORS AFTER EVERYONE IS IN THE CAR AND BELTED IN. MY FRIEND HAS THE SAME CAR AND SIMILAR ISSUE, SO I WAS WONDERING IF THERE ARE MORE COMPLAINTS, PERHAPS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION! *TR
OUR 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L DVD NAV IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME "SHUTTER" ISSUES BEING REPORTED BY NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS. WE OWN A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY, WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN JULY OF 2005. WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT IN APRIL OF 2008. FIRST THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT, THEN THERE WAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. WE HAD MANY OIL CHANGES AT THE DEALERSHIP AND FAITHFULLY CHANGED THE OIL WHEN THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR TOLD US TO. BUT THEN, IT WOULD DUMP TWO QUARTS OF OIL WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. FOR INSTANCE, ON MAY 23RD, 2010, WE HAD A OIL CHANGE AT THE HONDA DEALER WE HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, IN ANTICIPATION OF A 400 MILE TRIP. THE CAR STARTED ACTING UP ON OUR WAY THERE AND WE ENDED UP SPENDING THE MAJORITY OF JUNE 14TH SITTING IN A DEALERSHIP. WE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND ALMOST MADE IT HOME BEFORE THE CAR STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. WE LIMPED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, BUT IT REQUIRED TOWING TO THE HONDA DEALER IN SANTA CRUZ, CA FOR MORE REPAIRS. THEY ACCUSED US OF NOT MAINTAINING THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS TWO QUARTS LOW, YET WE CHECKED THE OIL BEFORE IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FULL IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS BECAUSE WE CHECKED THE OIL WHILE IT WAS OFF. IT WASN'T EVEN DRIVEN IN BETWEEN UNTIL THE DEALER DID DIAGNOSTIC ON IT. THEN THEY TOLD US ALL CARS NEED A VALUE ADJUSTMENT AT 80,000 MILES. WE HAVE SPOKEN REPEATEDLY WITH HONDA OF AMERICA AND HONDA CARE AND THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY ACTED SURPRISED WITH OUR PROBLEMS. ISSUE: DESIGN FLAW IN 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL NAV RES WHICH EXPOSES THE VEHICLES AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER TO UNNECESSARY PUNCTURE DAMAGE FROM COMMON STREET DEBRIS ALLOWING DANGEROUS FREON GASES TO ESCAPE TO DAMAGE THE ENVIRONMENT AND PROVIDE GREAT FINANCIAL HARDSHIP TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. COMMON ISSUE EXPERIENCED BY MANY OF THE EXACT SAME VEHICLE OWNERS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY HONDA AS WELL AS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS AND PREVENTION STEPS TAKEN BY CONSUMERS TO PROTECT VEHICLES FROM FUTURE DAMAGE. THE CONTACT STATED A PASSENGER SUSTAINED A MINOR HEAD INJURY WHILE LOADING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A VIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 52,000.
PREMATURE WEAR OUT OF ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS IN THE HONDA ODYSSEY. I HAVE A 2005 MODEL AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. THE TECHNICIAN & SVC WRITER AT THE DEALERSHIP EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE. LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO I HAD 3 OUT OF 4 ENGINE MOUNTS THAT WERE BROKEN AND NEEDED REPLACING THE FRONT AND SIDES WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH A DEDUCTIBLE I HAD TO PAY. NOW 6 MONTHS LATER THE REAR MOUNT HAS GONE BAD AND NOW REQUIRES REPLACING. I ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY REPLACED THE OTHER 3 THIS ONE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AS WELL SINCE THEY KNEW IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM & WOULD EVENTUALLY WEAR OUT SOON WHICH IT HAS NOW DONE AND PREMATURELY. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL COVER IT ONCE AGAIN BUT I HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER DEDUCTIBLE. 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING VAN THIS PROBLEM STARTED A WHILE AGO WHEN THE VAN GETS TO A STEADY SPEED OF APROX 40 USUALLY AT A SLIGHT INCLINE THE CAR STARTS TO JITTER OR FEEL LIKE GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS.
