2005 NEW ODYSSEY HAS ALWAYS NEEDED A LITTLE OIL. VAN BROKE-DOWN OUT-OF-STATE CHRISTMAS EVE 2008 . IN 3 WEEKS, HEAD GASKET AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED. VAN NOW BURNS 1 QUART OF OIL PER WEEK. DEALER REFUSED TO TEAR-DOWN ENGINE ON FIRST TWO VISITS SINCE BREAK-DOWN. NOW A MONTH LATER, UPON 3RD VISIT, DEALER IS FINALLY NOW REQUESTING AN INSPECTOR TO FIND ENGINE PROBLEM AND OK EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE, IF WE WILL COVER THE COST OF $1600 TEAR DOWN. *TR
SEVERE VIBRATION, THUMPING, WASHBOARD AFFECT IN RIGHT FRONT WHEN DRIVING OVER 20MPH. REPLACED RIGHT FRONT DRIVE AXEL. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A LOUD WHINING NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED IN WEATHER TEMPS UNDER 35 DEGREES, DRIVING MORE THAN 15-30 MINUTES OR SO. STEERING WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING IS SLIGHTLY MORE DIFFICULT. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER SAYS THE COST TO FIX IS APPROX. $210 FOR OUT OF WARRANTY SERVICE. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY HAVE "REDESIGNED" THE RESERVOIR, WELL IF IT WAS "REDESIGNED" THEN IT SHOULD BE "RECALLED". *TR
I PURCHASED A HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING MODEL WITH PAX TIRES. I INQUIRED ABOUT THE TIRES AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND DID NOT WANT THEM. AT THE TIME I WAS NOT EDUCATED ON THE EXPENSES THE LACK OF FACILITIES THAT CARE WORK WITH THE TIRE AND ISSUES RELATED TO WARRANTY WITH THIS CAR. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE HAVING PAX TIRES AND HAS CREATED A HUGE RECURRING EXPENSE FOR ME. *TR
DRIVING IN TYPICAL CITY ENVIRONMENT AND THE POWER STEERING BECAME NON-RESPONSIVE. HONDA DEALERSHIP THEN REPLACED THE POWER-STEERING PUMP RESERVOIR (THIS IS THE 3RD RESERVOIR DURING THE LIFETIME OF THE VAN). ORIGINAL POWER STEERING PUMP RESERVOIR INSTALLED AT BUILD DATE, 2ND INSTALLED IN DEC 2006. *TR

MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS HAD THE BUZZING,HUMMING SOUND ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TAKEN CARE OF BY THE DEALER. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR HAD 52000 MILES ON IT AND THE DEALER CONTACTED HONDA TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER IT. THEY WOULD NOT BUT ALLOWED ME A 50% DISCOUNT ON THE REPAIR. THIS SHOULD BE A BULLETIN ITEM COVERED BY THE COMPANY. *TR
STEERING WHEEL GET STIFF WHEN OUR VAN IS ON IDLE. MAY FAILED ANYTIME WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON MOTION WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH HE HEARD A PECULIAR NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO AIR BUBBLES IN THE STEERING FLUID. THE STEERING FLUID WAS DRAINED AND REPLACED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOURS MONTHS AFTER THE SERVICE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES, AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
VIBRATION AND SHUTTERING GETTING WORSE OVER TIME BECAME SO BAD IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CAR. DEALER SAID 3 OF 4 ENGINE MOUNTS WERE BAD. THIS IS 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. *TR
ACCORDING TO HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 07-005 JUNE 17, 2008 TITLED POWER STEERING PUMP WHINES, BUZZES, OR HUMS (SUPERSEDES 07-005, DATED JANUARY 26, 2007, TO UPDATE THE INFORMATION MARKED BY THE BLACK BARS), SYMPTOM "THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHINES, BUZZES, OR HUMS AFTER DRIVING FOR 30 MINUTES IN TEMPERATURES 35 TO 40 DEGREES F (2 TO 5 DEGREES C). PROBABLE CAUSE THE POWER STEERING PUMP RESERVOIR IS DEFECTIVE CORRECTION ACTION: FLUSH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WITH CLEAN POWER STEERING FLUID, AND THEN REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR. PARTS INFORMATION POWER STEERING RESERVOIR: P/N 53701-SHJ-A01C1, H/C 0923672 REQUIRED MATERIALS HONDA GENUINE POWER STEERING FLUID: P/N 08206-9002, H/C 3747284 (FOUR BOTTLES PER VEHICLE ARE NEEDED) THE DEFECTIVE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR CAUSES THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO WHINE BECAUSE POWER STEERING FLUID IS NOT PUMP OUT OF THE RESERVOIR. IF POWER STEERING FLUID IS NOT BEING PUMPED OUT OF THE RESERVOIR, THE POWER STEER FAILS WHICH COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. HONDA ACKNOWLEDGES THIS PROBLEM WITH THE ABOVE INFORMATION AND THE WARRANTY INFORMATION BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM ON VEHICLES OUT SIDE OF THE 36000 MILES WARRANTY. ACCORDING HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 07-005, THIS "APPLIES TO 2005-07 ODYSSEY -ALL 2008 -FROM VIN 5FNRL38..8B000001 THRU 5FNRL38..8B075356 -FROM VIN F5NRL38..8B400001 THRU 5FNRL38..8B419525 I ASKED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER (CALE YARBOROUGH HONDA 2723 WEST PALMETTO STREET FLORENCE SC 29501 843-669-5556) TO ESTIMATE HOW MUCH THIS REPAIR WOULD COST. ACCORDING TO THEIR SERVICE MANAGER, THE REPLACEMENT RESERVOIR IS $11.50, THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS $16.00 AND THE LABOR IS $170.00. THE TOTAL COST $197.50. SINCE THIS DEFECT HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY HONDA AND MAY RESULTS IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT, HONDA SHOULD RECALL THIS PART AND PAY FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED ON VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25 TO 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SINCE THERE WAS AN EXISTING WARRANTY BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED TO PAY FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HONDA ODYSSEY 2005 EX-L FROM FREMONT HONDA IN 2005. JUST AFTER TWO YEARS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE HOT AND ARE APPLIED SHARPLY E.G. WHEN COMING DOWN A HILL THEY MAKE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. SOUND SEEMS TO COME FROM THE FRONT BRAKES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CAPITOL HONDA FOR A REGULAR OIL SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE SOUND IS NORMAL, IT IS THE ABS KICKING IN. THIS IS NOT THE CASE, AS I FEAR THE BRAKES WILL FAIL ONE DAY AS IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL ON METAL AND MAY HAVE AN ACCIDENT ONE DAY. I HAVE RAISED THIS CONCERN WITH AMERICAN HONDA WHO HANDLES CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH ONLY 21,000 MILE ON THE VAN. THEY STATED I AM OUT OF WARRANTY OVER 3 YEARS/ 36,000 MILES AND TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN TO THE DEALER. I WILL TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN ON 10/31/08. I WANT TO ELEVATE THIS ISSUE/ CUSTOMER CONCERN TO NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE GRINDING BRAKE NOISE OF 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. ALSO CONDUCT A GOOGLE SEARCH ON HONDA ODYSSEY GRINDING BRAKE NOISE AND YOU WILL SEE HUNDREDS OF ARTICLES - THERE IS CLEARLY A FAULT THAT HONDA NEEDS TO RESOLVE AND RECALL ITS VEHICLES AND FIX FREE OF CHARGE BEFORE LARGE SCALE ACCIDENTS OCCUR. *TR

2005 HONDA ODYSSEY THE SRS WARNING LAMP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAIN ILLUMINATED. *TR
I OPENED UP THE TRUNK GATE OF MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TO REMOVE SOME ITEMS, AS I WAS BACKING AWAY FROM THE VAN, THE TAIL GATE STRUT SUDDENLY LOOSES PRESSURE AND DROPS DOWN. HONDA ODYSSEY TAILGATE STRUT FAILURE. I WENT TO HONDA TO PURCHASE REPLACEMENTS PARTS, AND KEPT THE ORIG ONES AS PROOF. NOW THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IS STARTING TO HAVE PROBLEMS, IT DID NOT COMPLETELY FAILED, BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH PRESSURE TO HOLD UP THE TRUNK GATE AND KEEP IT OPEN. I DID RECEIVE A BUMP ON THE HEAD, SINCE I WAS NOT VERY CLOSE TO THE CAR, BUT THE SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORST. *TR
OWNER NOTICED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS NOT COOLING. VERIFIED THAT COMPRESSOR WAS RUNNING, BUT IT DID NOT LOAD THE ENGINE - SUSPECTED LOSS OF REFRIGERANT. DEALER CONFIRMED NO REFRIGERANT WAS IN SYSTEM, AND FOUND THAT IT HAD LEAKED OUT OF CONDENSER VIA A SMALL HOLE, PROBABLY CAUSED BY SOMETHING STRIKING THE CONDENSER. OWNER HAD DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OWNERS OF SAME MODEL OF VEHICLE REGARDING THE A/C CONDENSER BEING EXPOSED AND NOT APPROPRIATELY PROTECTED BY GRILLE, AND OVER A YEAR AGO HAD CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS APPARENT OVERSIGHT. MFR RESPONDED BY SAYING THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. OWNER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER WITH THIS INCIDENT AND TO DATE HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE. REPAIRS ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND $800. OWNER WANTS TO KNOW WHY THE MANUFACTURER HAS DENIED KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM, AND WANTS MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. OWNER'S SPOUSE HAS MEDICAL CONDITION REQUIRING AIR CONDITIONING. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN WITH APPROXIMATELY 68000 MILES. TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING WHEN VAN IS GOING SLIGHTLY UPHILL WHILE ENGINE SPEED IS BETWEEN 1500 AND 2000 RPM. PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY IF MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT OR PRESS HARD ON THE GAS PADDLE TO FORCE THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT. DEALERSHIP INSISTED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM BUT HONDA IS NOT WILLING TO ABSORB THE REPLACEMENT COST. *TR
WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT OR A SLOW TURN ON THE ROAD WAY I GET A LOUD NOISE LIKE THE BRAKES ARE BAD. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 39,000 MILES ON IT AND HONDA NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS WEAR PROBLEM. THESE SEEM TO BE A USE OF POOR MATERIAL IN THE MANUFACTURING OF WHAT IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF A VEHICLE AND THAT IS THE BRAKES. IT SEEM LIKE THIS IS A FAILURE WAITING TO HAPPEN AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF HONDA DOES NOT NOTIFY US AND GET THE PROPER BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE. HONDA SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO JUST PASS THIS OFF AS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND PASS IT OFF AS NORMAL BREAK WEAR. PLEASE HELP US HONDA OWNERS GET THIS PROBLEM CORRECTED AND ASAP IF NOT TOMORROW. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TODAY AND AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE (ABOUT 5 MPH) AT A DRUG STORE AND COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED (JUMPED) FORWARD. HAD I NOT ALREADY HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE I WOULD HAVE HIT A RACK OF PROPANE TANKS! THE CAR TRAVELED ABOUT 4 FT FROM ACCELERATION START TO STOPPING AND IT ROLLED OVER THE CURB. MY HARD BRAKING LEFT A FOOT OF TIRE TREAD MARKS ON THE CONCRETE SIDEWALK FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. I ALWAYS KEEP THE CRUISE CONTROL (CC) OFF WHEN DRIVING LOCALLY BUT AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, I NOTICED THE CC WAS ON. I DID NOT TURN IT ON AND DO NOT KNOW HOW IT ACTIVATED. I WANT A RECORD OF THE EVENT. IT LEFT ME SHAKEN AND WANT TO INSURE THAT IF THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS TO NTHSA ACTIONS BE TAKEN TO ADVISE OWNERS OF THE PROBLEM. DROVE TO OTHER LOCATIONS WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEMS. I INTEND TO ADVISE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND HONDA CORPORATE AS WELL. *TR
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW AND VIGILANTLY MAINTAIN IT. WITH FEWER THAN 43,000 MILES, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILS TO PROPERLY "LOCKUP" AT 45 MPH ON LEVEL GRADE WHEN WARM. THE DEALERS SCAN TOOL INDICATED ABSENCE OF ANY DETECTED ABNORMALITY, BUT THEIR TEST DRIVE CONFIRMED THE SYMPTOM--PULSING POWER TO THE DRIVE WHEELS. THEY TOLD ME THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAILING WHICH THEY DON'T REPLACE NOR REPAIR SO THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID IT WAS OK TO DRIVE. THEY NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED A HISTORY OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS NOR ANY RELATED SERVICE CAMPAIGNS OR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. I AM, LIKE I SAID, VIGILANT ABOUT SERVICE, SO I WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS BEFORE IT BECOMES AN ISSUE, BUT OTHERS MAY BE AT RISK IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS RAPIDLY DUE TO IMPROPER DESIGN. *TR
VEHICLE HAS 93K AND HAS A VIBRATION FEEDBACK ISSUE AROUND 40MPH. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR A REAR MOUNT REPLACEMENT. ISSUE IS LESS SEVERE, BUT IS STILL NOTICEABLE. TAKEN IT TO DEALER THREE TIMES, UNABLE TO DETECT THE ISSUE. OVER 83 POSTINGS IN EDMUNDS FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR SURGES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. I TOOK IT INTO MAHWAH HONDA AND THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND THE ERROR CODES AND FOUND NO PROBLEM.. IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE ACCELERATOR WAS BEING PRESSED. BOTH MY WIFE AND I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AT DIFFERENT TIMES WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AND COMING TO A STOP. *TR
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. THE DVD SYSTEM WILL NOT PLAY THROUGH THE HEADPHONES ANY LONGER. YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE RADIO AND CD'S THROUGH THE HEAD PHONES BUT THE DVD WILL NOT PLAY THROUGH THEM. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE STUCK LISTENING TO THE KIDS DVD MOVIE WHILE TRAVELING. VERY FRUSTRATING. THE HEADPHONE USED TO WORK JUST FINE. THEY ARE NOT WIRELESS, SO IT IS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE. *TR
THE LIFT GATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN. WHEN YOU OPEN IT AND LET GO OF IT WILL FALL ON TOP OF YOU. *TR
WE'VE HAD THE LEFT SIDE SLIDING DOOR ON OUR 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY FAIL TO CLOSE NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS. THE DEALER HAS 'FIXED' IT AT LEAST FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST THREE YEARS. MOST RECENTLY, WHILE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO FLORIDA, THE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE AT A REST STOP. IN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY, THE 'SLIDING SPRING' BROKE AND THE DOOR SLIPPED OFF THE TRACK. WE HAD TO LIFT THE DOOR AND SLIDE IT SHUT. WHEN THE SPRING BROKE, THE WEIGHT OF THE DOOR CAUSED THE SLIDING TRACK TO BE DENTED OUTWARD. OUR FEAR IS THAT THE DOOR CAN SLIDE OFF THE TRACK AND FALL AT ANY TIME SINCE THERE'S NOTHING TO HOLD IT IN. WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO ANY CAR MUCH LESS A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. WE CONTACTED BOTH HONDA AND THE DEALER. WE'RE BEING CHARGED $95.00 FOR THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND MAY BE CHARGED THE FULL COST OF REPAIRING THE DOOR. THE DEALER HAS INDICATED THAT IN ORDER TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THE DOOR MUST BE REMOVED COMPLETELY. THIS IS A MAJOR REPAIR THAT CAN RUN INTO SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS. NEITHER HONDA OR THE DEALER IS OFFERING TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS AT THIS POINT DESPITE THEIR RECORD OF REPEATED REPAIRS TO THIS VEHICLE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WHINING SOUND AND SHUDDERING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, GENERALLY 30-40 MPH. BELIEVE IT IS TRANSMISSION RELATED. *TR

TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD CLOSE, BUT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS AJAR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 39,214.
PREMATURE TIRE WEAR ON MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN, MICHELIN LX-4 TIRES, COMPLETELY WORN OUT AT 29,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. WARM AIR IMMEDIATELY CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE AIR VENTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY FOUND A PUNCTURE IN THE CONDENSER UNIT. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE RESULTED FROM ROCKS IN DAMAGED ROADS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,000. MY A/C QUIT WORKING WHILE ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE AIRPORT. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT A ROCK OR OTHER DEBRIS FROM THE ROAD PUNCTURED A HOLE IN THE A/C COMPRESSOR. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, I HAVE UNCOVERED A LARGE NUMBER OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR SCENARIO. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THAT THE A/C IS EXPOSED TO POTENTIAL DAMAGE FROM THE ROAD AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL TO FIX IT. I OWN A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY AND IT HAS 39K MILES. MY A/C JUST WENT OUT AND I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP AND THE MECHANIC WAS SHOCKED TO SEE I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE. HAVE HAD A FEW PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASED VAN NEW. FIRST PROBLEM AROUND "08 IS A VIBRATING-SHUDDERING FELT IN STEERING WHEEL. AT ABOUT 35- 45 MPH AND JUST BEFORE THE "ECONO" WOULD KICK IN, I WOULD FEEL THE VIBRATING START. IF I INCREASE MY SPEED QUICKLY AND GET ON UP TO ABOUT 50MPH, IT WOULD STOP. THOUGHT IT NEEDED A TUNE-UP..DID THAT-STILL VIBRATED. THOUGHT IT WAS TRANSMISSION-HAD IT FLUSHED-STILL VIBRATED. IT WASN'T A CONSTANT PROBLEM BACK IN "08, BUT IRRITATING.NOW IN 2013 IT IS MANY TIMES A DAY AND SHUDDERS VERY BADLY. TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER TODAY ABOUT THE ESCALATED VIBRATIONS. TEST DROVE IT AND SAID VIBRATIONS WERE FROM TORQUE CONVERTER AND NEEDED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION.ALSO NEEDED TIMING BELT REPLACED. I DID'NT EXPECT TO HEAR TRANSMISSION-EXPECTED TO HEAR REAR MOTOR MOUNT(600.00) NEEDED REPLACING. I SPECIFICALLY TOOK MY VAN IN TO CHECK THE MOTOR MOUNT.WHEN HE SAID TORQUE CONVERTER/TRANSMISSION I ASKED HIM WHAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS LOOKED LIKE. HE SAID THE TECH DID'NT MENTION THAT .NO ONE LIKES TO HEAR THEY ARE ABOUT TO INCCUR SOME EXPENSIVE REPAIRS, BUT I DID'NT EXPECT TO HEAR TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AT 170,000 MILES.THE FELLOW AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT"HECK,THAT IS REALLY GOOD FOR THE 2005 ODYSSEY".OUR NISSAN TRUCK HAD OVER 300,000 MILES AND OUR DODGE DUELLY HAS OVER 200,000 MILES NEITHER WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES.SO, THIS ISSUE STILL REMAINS UNREPAIRED-WAITING ON ESTIMATE FROM DEALERSHIP. YIKES! THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR HAS NOT OPERATED CORRECTLY FOR 3-4 YEARS NOW. IT DOES'NT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. IF YOU OPEN THE SLIDING DOOR,WHEN YOU CLOSE IT ITWILL BEEP LIKE ITS NOT CLOSED.YOU HAVE TO GET OUT AND MANUALLY SLAM IT SHUT. DEALER AGREED TO PROVIDE FREE PART WHICH SAVED 50% OF THIS COST--I'M SURE THIS WAS TO APPEASE A LONG TIME CUSTOMER, BUT THIS WOULD ONLY BE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE EVIDENCE, SUCH AS ON THIS SITE, WHICH DEMONSTRATED THE FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE ALARM BEGAN TO SOUND WITH NO DASHBOARD DISPLAY . WHEN THE CONSUMER TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT, THE DOOR OPENED AND THE DOOR DISPLAY ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING TO FAILURE. FAILURE OF THE REAR DOOR SUPPORT STRUT WAS SUDDEN. ONE OF THE STRUT FAILED IMMEDIATELY. UPON RESEARCH ON INTERNET, FOUND THAT STRUT MAKING SOUND MOST LIKELY HAD A FAILED SEAL AND INERT GAS HAD ESCAPED. APPEARED SIMILAR TO RECALL ISSUE WITH TOYOTA SIENNA'S. HONDA MFG HAD NO RECALL ISSUE WITH THE FAILURE OF THE STRUT. UPON CONTACT WITH LOCAL HONDA DISTRIBUTOR FIRST HONDA IN SIMI VALLEY, BECAUSE CAR HAD 37K MILES IT HAD GONE BEYOND THE 36K WARRANTY FOR THE VEHICLE. COST FOR MATERIAL AND LABOR TO REPAIR THE STRUT WAS $170K MATERIAL $110 AND LABOR $60 APPROX. THE ACTUAL REPAIR WORK TOOK 10 - 15 MINUTES. VAN IS USED TO TRANSPORT SMALL CHILDREN AND THE FAILURE OF THE ONE, MADE OWNER- MOM VERY DIFFICULT TO PUT IN AND REMOVE- STROLLERS USED AND STORED IN BACK OF VEHICLE. IF FAILURE HAD BEEN WHILE PUTTING ITEMS IN AND OUT OF THE REAR, THE HEAVY WEIGHT OF THE DOOR WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY. *TR

I RECENTLY LEARNED THAT ON SEPTEMBER OF 2011 THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE STEERING. I INFORMED THE CASE MANAGER THAT I NEVER RECEIVED SUCH NOTICE.
