AIR CONDITIONER (A/C ) CONDENSER PUNCTURED BY ROCK. DESIGN IS POOR ALLOWING CONDENSER TO BE EASILY PUNCTURED BY DEBRIS. *AK
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE ON 490 W IN ROCHESTER NY ON SATURDAY MAY 12, 2007 WHEN I FELT THE ACCELERATOR PULLED AWAY FROM MY FOOT. THE CAR PROCEED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I LOOKED AT THE DASH TO SEE IF THE CRUISE-CONTROL HAD SOMEHOW COME ON BUT IT HAD NOT. I THEN TAPPED THE BRAKE TO SEE IF THE ACCELERATION WOULD BACK OFF. IT DID NOT AND I WAS NOW MOVING AT ABOUT 80 MPH WITH THE ENGINE REVVING OVER 5000 RPMS . I PROCEED TO APPLY THE BRAKE VERY HARD WITH ONE FEET AND THEN BOTH FEET TO PREVENT FROM DRIVING INTO THE BACK OF THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS LITERALLY STANDING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET TO TRY TO NEGATE SOME OF THE SPEED. THE CAR WAS GOING OVER 90 MPH WHEN I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RODE AND DRIVE OFF THE ROAD. ONCE I GOT TO THE SHOULDER, I JAMMED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FOR A PERIOD AS I CONTINUED SPEEDING DOWN THE SHOULDER. IT FINALLY STOPPED REVVING ,AND I WAS THEN ABLE TO STOP AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. MY HUSBAND REPORTED TO ME THAT A SIMILAR THING HAPPENED TO HIM LAST WEEK WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY.*AK THE FLAT BED DRIVER REPORTED TO THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE SPEEDOMETER READ 40 MPH WHEN HE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ONTO THE FLAT BED, YET THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GOING THAT FAST.
2005 ODYSSEY MINI VAN. OIL LEAK AT UNDER 24000 MILES. TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THEN 7/08 HAD ANOTHER OIL LEAK JUST AFTER IT HAD EXPRESS SERVICE AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. TOOK BACK THEY SAID THAT SOMETHING DID NOT GET PUT ON TIGHT ENOUGH. TOOK BACK TWO WEEKS OR SO LATER, AROUND 32000 MILES NOW STILL LEAKING. REPLACED OIL PAN AND GASKET. STILL LEAKING. TOOK BACK TOLD IT WAS TRANSMISSION. THEY STARTED TO ORDER ONE. HONDA HAD ME COME BACK IN TO TAKE PICTURES. MY SERVICE REP WAS NOT THERE AT THAT TIME. AT THIS TIME SAID IT WAS ENGINE OIL NOT TRANS. WENT BACK WHEN MY SERVICE REP WAS IN. SHE FOUND LEAK AND IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. ANOTHER TRANS WAS PUT IN AROUND JAN 6TH 2009 AT AROUND 38,500 MILES. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT NORMAL. BUT THERE SEEMS TO MANY COMPLAINTS ON TRANSMISSIONS ON THE HONDA VANS. *TR
PAX TIRES FALL APART AND THE DEALER DID NOT SERVICE THEM WELL. TREAD FAILURE 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RUBBER FELL OFF, DOWN TO THREADS. DEALER CLAIMED THAT RUNNING INTO A CURB COULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. TIRES FAILED BEFORE 30 THOUSAND MILES. COST APPROXIMATELY $100 MORE THAN NORMAL TIRES. HONDA PROVIDED NO OTHER OPTIONS TO TIRE PROBLEM, MONOPOLY ON THE MANUFACTURER OF TIRE, MICHELIN. MONOPOLY ON SERVICE TO VEHICLE WHERE LITTLE OTHER DEPENDENTS ARE AVAILABLE TO REPLACE TIRE. DISCOUNT TIRE IS THE ONLY OTHER PROVIDER. HONDA DOES NOT RECOGNIZE ANY OTHER OPTIONAL TIRES FOR USE ON THEIR ODYSSEY. DISCOUNT TIRE PROPOSES A REPLACEMENT WITH A 18 INCH Z RATED TIRE THAT MIGHT LEAVE VEHICLE WITH A DASH WARNING THAT CANT BE TURNED OFF OR DISARMED. TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM ALSO IS NOT ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. NO RESTFULLY OPTIONS BY OWNER. WEATHER CHANGES SET OFF THE TIRE PRESSURE ALARM THAT CAN ONLY BE RESET BY DEALER. ONE OF THE PAX FEATURES WAS TO REPLACE A SPARE BECAUSE OF WEIGHT. A PAX TIRE IS 25 LBS MORE PER TIRE THAN A NORMAL TIRE THUS NULLIFYING ANY BENEFITS. COST IS A HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE PER TIRE AND RELIABILITY IS LESS. SERVICE ABILITY IS LESS. A DEALER THIS LAST TIME WAS UNABLE TO BREAK THE BEAD ON THE TIRE. THE TIRE BEFORE THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE TIRE AND RIM 2 TO 3 WEEKS TO GET IT DONE. THIS TIME TWO WEEKS HAS PAST AND THE SERVICE NOT DONE FAILED DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE ON THERE NEW $30K000 TIRE MACHINE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTREMELY HARD TO PREVENT A CRASH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. IN EARLY MARCH OF 2008, TWO DAYS AFTER THE CONTACT LEFT THE DEALER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 04/04/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER HAD TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING FORWARD. UPDATED
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON. THE VAN WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOVEMBER 2004 AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. GIVEN THAT THE AIRBAGS HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED FOR OVER 20 YEARS THEY SHOULD NOT FAIL OR INDICATED FAILURE AFTER 2.5 YEARS. *AK
WE HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 22K MILES. AIR CONDITION STOPPED WORKING LAST WEEKEND. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD A TINY STONE HIT THE AC CONDENSER. THE DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED BY MANUFACTURE WARRANTY. REPAIR COST IS OVER $800. THE DAMAGE IN FACT IS CAUSED BY POOR DESIGN AND DEFECTIVE CONDENSER. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON AC CONDENSER PROBLEM ACROSS ALMOST ALL HONDA VEHICLES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE AND PROTECT CONSUMER RIGHT. *JB
HONDA ODYSSEY 2005. TWO SEPARATE INCIDENCES OF COOLANT SYSTEM BEING PIERCED BY A STONE. OCTOBER 2005, A/C COOLANT LEAKED OUT. APRIL 2007, RADIATOR PIERCED BY A STONE AND CAUSED A LEAK. WELL, THE PAX TIRES THAT ARE ON MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY ARE JUNK. FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE I CAN TELL YOU I HAVE TAKEN OUT A SMALL LOAN TO REPLACE 2 OF THE TIRES AND I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND I KEEP IT IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. THIS IS WHY I WAS SO SHOCKED TO HEAR I NEEDED NEW TIRES IN 1/2 THE TIME A NORMAL SET OF TIRES WOULD BE NEEDED. IT IS SHOCKING BUT I WAS TOLD THIS IS THE PRICE FOR SECURITY. HMMM, I THOUGHT THAT IS WHY I WAS SOLD THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ETC. WELL FROM WHAT I CAN TELL SOME ONE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE TIRES. EITHER INCREASE THE QUALITY OF THE RUBBER, OR RECALL THEM AND GIVE USED REGULAR TIRES AND RIMS. THEY ARE JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE. TO ADD TO THIS MY VEHICLE HAS A SHAKE IN IT AND THE SHOP IS NOT SURE BUT THINK I NEED TO REPLACE THE OTHER TWO TIRE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. BUT I WAS TOLD NO PROMISES THAT WILL FIX THE SHAKE. THE SHAKE WAS NOT THERE UNTIL THE NEW TIRES WERE PUT ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
2005 ODYSSEY CAR HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. A/C STOPPED WORKING. WAS TOLD DEBRIS WENT UNDER CAR AND PUNCTURED CONDENSER. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS DISCOVERED MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH EXACT SAME EXPLANATION BY DEALERSHIP REPAIR WORKER. IF THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BUT NOT OUT OF MY POCKET. IT SEEMS VERY CLEAR HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
4 YEAR CHILD IN THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE SEAT, NOT THE THIRD ROW. VEHICLE IS EQUIPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC REAR SLIDING DOOR CLOSURE MECHANISM. THE DOOR CLOSURE SYSTEM HAS SAFETY MECHANISM THAT APPEARED TO BE FUCTIONING PROPERLY AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. WHEN AUTOMATIC DOOR WAS CLOSING CHILD PUT HER LEFT HAND BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRAME AS IT CLOSED. THE DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE AND COMPLETED THE LATCHING PROCESS WITH THE CHILD'S HAND CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRAME. THE DOOR HAD TO BE OPENED TO EXTRACT THE CHILDS HAND. THE CHILD SUSTAINED SERVE CRUSHING INJURIES TO THE ENTIRE HAND, FROM THE PALM TO THE FINGER TIPS. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN IMMEADIATELY TO AN PEDIATRIC ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON. THE SURGEON X-RAYED THE HAND AND DETERMINED THAT ONE OF THE BONES ON THE MIDDLE FINGER HAD BEEN BROKEN. AFTER THE INCIDENT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR SAFETY MECHANISM APPEARED TO BE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. *AK
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE LAST 16 MONTHS A DESIGN FLAW ALLOWED A ROCK TO DAMAGE THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER ON THE 2005 HONDA ODESSEY. THIS REPAIR IS $1000 AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
I INCURRED $700 OF EXPENSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR ON MY CAR WAS PUNCTURED BY A STONE. THE COMPRESSOR IS PLACED IN FRONT OF AN OPEN GRILL JUST A FEW INCHES ABOVE GROUND LEVEL, WHERE IT IS OFTEN DAMAGED BY ROCKS COMING UP FROM THE ROAD. HONDA HAS HAD HUNDREDS OF SUCH DAMAGES, BUT REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DESIGN FLAW, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE CORRECTED IT IN 2008 MODELS. *TR
ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2005 I BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND EVERY TIME I SIT IN THE VEHICLE IT WILL NOT START. THE DEALER TOLD ME BATTERY DRAINED OUT. IT ALREADY HAPPEN 4 TIMES AND THE MAIN SWITCH OF THE LIGHT IS ALREADY OFF THEY KEEP ON SAYING THAT WE LEFT THE LIGHT ON. FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!! WE HAVE 3 CARS AND THIS VAN ONLY HAS THE PROBLEM. WE THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG IN THE SYSTEM THAT'S DRAINING THE BATTERY I TOLD THEM SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY WARRANTY WHAT IF IT EXPIRES THEN SUDDENLY THEY WILL FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND PAYMENT WILL COME OUT OF MY POCKET. PLEASE ADVISE THANKS. *JB
AIR CONDITIONER A/C CONDENSER/COMPRESSOR PUNCTURED, POSSIBLY BY STREET DEBRIS (ROCK?). DESIGN FLAW. NOT ADEQUATELY PROTECTED. EXPENSIVE, NON-WARRANTED ITEM!*AK
WE FIRST NOTICED A SEVERE VIBRATION IN OUR CAR ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 65-70 MPH. TOOK HONDA ODY TO DEALER TO HAVE THEM REVIEW. SUGGESTED WE ROTATE AND BALANCE TIRES (AS WE HAVE DONE WITH NEARLY EACH OIL CHANGE). CAR HAD 20K MILES. WE DID AS SUGGESTED BUT VIBRATION CONTINUED. WE DROVE THE CAR TO SOUTH FLORIDA (8 HOURS OF DRIVING) AND THE VIBRATION SEEMED TO WORSEN. WENT TO DIFFERENT LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY SUGGESTED ANOTHER BALANCE AND ALIGNMENT. WE SAID OK (ANOTHER $150) AND THEY SAID THEIR TECH DROVE IT AND IT WAS GONE. GREAT - TOOK THE CAR HOME AND EXPERIENCED IT AGAIN ON MY TEST LOOP HOME. CALLED SECOND DEALER AGAIN WHO TOOK CAR IN. FIRST THEY LOOKED AT THE PAX SYSTEM AND SAID WE NEED NEW TIRES AND THAT SHOULD FIX IT. THEY THEN PUT NEW TIRES ON FROM A NEW ODY ON THEIR LOT. DID NOT RESOLVE IT. NOW THEY FEEL IT IS THE FRONT AXLES THAT ARE DEFECTIVE AND STILL HAVE THE CAR. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEMS BUT NOT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ FROM OTHER CONSUMERS OF THE 2005 HONDA ODY... I FEEL ALL THIS WILL RECUR. SO, TWO PROBLEMS. THE PAX SYSTEM TOUTED FOR SAFETY AND LONGEVITY HAS ALMOST BALD SIDE EDGES OF EACH TIRE AT 22K MILES NOW. IS THIS SAFE FOR MY FAMILY? NOW I NEED TO REPLACE THEM FOR $1K. SECOND ISSUE IS FAULTY AXLES THAT ARE WORN AT 22K MILES. WOW. SEEMS TO BE SOME SERIOUS SAFETY AND DESIGN DEFECTS IN THIS $40K VEHICLE THAT WOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED ON A $20K CAR. *JB
AIR CONDITIONER ON 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WENT OUT. DEALER CLAIMED CONDENSER HAS HOLE DUE TO ROAD DAMAGE. I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE ON TOPIX.NET. DEALER THEMSELVES CLAIMED TO GET A FEW PER MONTH. SINCE IT IS CONSIDERED ROAD HAZARD, IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. DEALER COST TO FIX IS ~$800. THOUGH NOT A SAFETY HAZARD, IT CERTAINLY SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM IN THAT HONDA IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY PROTECTING THIS COMPONENT. *JB
PURCHASE 05 HONDA ODYSSEY IN OCT 04. PAX TIRE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN NOV 04. IN MAY 2006 I WAS TOLD TIRES WORN AND NEED REPLACING AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY CAR IS SERVICED AT HONDA DEALER AS RECOMMENDED. I DIDN'T REPLACE TIRES AT TIME, BUT GOT A FLAT WHILE ON VACATION AND HAD IT REPLACED. NOW MARCH 14, 30,000 MAINTENANCE I'M TOLD THREE TIRES NEED REPLACING. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE FRONT PASSENGER WONT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE WHEN THE DOOR HANDLE WAS ENGAGED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE INSIDE CABLE WAS DISCONNECTED. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN MAY OF 2006. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FRONT DOOR INNER HANDLE CABLE. THE PROBLEM RECURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THE CONTACT FELT THE DEALER SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITHOUT COST TO HIM BECAUSE IT WAS A RECURRING PROBLEM. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50000.*AK
WE HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODESSY,WITH PAX TIRE SYSTEM. TIRES FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 25000 MILES. NEITHER MICHELIN NOR HONDA HAVE DONE ANYTHING. I WAS ASKED DID I DRIVE THE CAR UP AND DOWN HILLS? AT THE TIME THE CAR WAS HYDRO PLANING SO BADLY WE FELT UNSAFE. WE HAVE HAD TO BUY NEW WHEELS ,AND TIRESE AND SENSORS OR GET OUT OF THIS WORTHLESS SET OF TIRES. I WOULD NEVER BUY A VEHICLE WITH THIS ON. ALL WE GOT ARE BILLS AND LIES. *AK
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING STEERING PROBLEMS RELATED TO RECALL #05V039000. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING THE VEHICLE MOVED FROM THE LEFT TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE POLICE, AND WAS NOT GIVEN A POLICE REPORT. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TIRES, AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE TIRES. THE CONTACT ADVISED THE MECHANIC OF THE STEERING RECALL ,AND HE DENIED THAT IT WAS RELATED. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE DEPLOYED AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION. RECALL #05V344000 WAS RELATED TO THE AIR BAGS: FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS DIFFICULT TO CLOSE UNLESS PRESSURE WAS APPLIED. THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,200. *AK
NOISE WHEN MAKING A TURN. DEALER SAID THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. VAN IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. IT SEEMS THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHOULD LAST A LOT LONGER THAT. DEALER SAID IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. *JB
I OWN A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH MICHELIN PAX RUN FLAT TIRES. I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED BY HONDA SERVICE THAT MY TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (WERE WORN TO 4/32NDS) AT ONLY 17K MILES AND AT A COST OF $300+ PER TIRE. ADDITIONALLY, EVEN TO PATCH THE TIRE WITH A SMALL NAIL PUNCTURE WOULD COST $90+. I FEEL THAT THE PREMATURE WEAR ON THESE TIRES IS A DEFECT AND THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE ARE BEING FACED WITH FREQUENT AND COSTLY REPLACEMENT OF THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES AND/OR SAFETY ISSUES WITH WORN TIRES. *JB
TRANSMISSION MAKES VIBRATING NOISE ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN ACCELERATING ON SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE. VAN TAKEN TO DEALER SHOP FOR INVESTIGATION. I WAS TOLD THAT ALL CHECKS WERE WITHIN HONDA SPEC. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT PROBABLY ALWAYS DID THIS AND THAT I JUST DIDN'T NOTICE IT. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT HAS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY ES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE PULLS THE SEAT BELT DOWN ON THE DRIVERS SEAT TO PUT IN ON IT GETS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DOOR PILLAR AND SEAT. IT IS WEARING THE MATERIAL OF THE SEAT, AND THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL EITHER RUIN OR BLOW OUT THE AIR BAG IN THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 10740. THE CONSUMER HAS FOUND HELP. UPDATED 03/15/07. *JB
2005 DEFECTIVE HONDA ODYSSEY SPOILER CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE SPOILER HAD A DEFECTIVE DESIGN BECAUSE ICE AND SNOW ACCUMULATED UNDER IT CAUSING IT TO BECOME LOOSE**CC THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE SPOILER BECAME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT AND FELL ONTO THE ROAD. *JB

THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND WILL COST BETWEEN $800 AND $1000 TO FIX. HONDA STATED THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS CAUSED BY AN OUTSIDE INFLUENCE IE THE ROCK. THERE WAS NO PROTECTION FOR THE CONDENSER AS IT WAS LOCATED NEAR TWO BIG HOLES FOR AIR INTAKE UNDER THE LICENCE PLATE, AND THE A/C CONDENSERWAS NOT PROTECTED BY MESH OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD PREVENT ROCKS FROM HITTING IT UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. DEALER ROTATED AND CROSS SWITCHED TIRES (ONCE AGAIN REDUCING TIRE PRESSURE). PROBLEM SEEMED SOLVED. MIDWAY THOUGH NEXT 5000 MILE ROAD TRIP VIBRATION AND PULL STARTED TO RECUR, GROWING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS TRIP WAS CONCLUDED. WHILE MAKING A HARD RIGHT HAND TURN, VAN HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE, LIGHTS, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES ALL DIED INSTANTLY. MANAGED TO STOP THE VAN WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING, BUT IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN COMING THE OTHER WAY, NO WAY AN ACCIDENT WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. PUT CAR IN PARK, TURNED KEY AND IT RESTARTED AND DROVE FINE. THEY KEPT VAN FOR FOUR HOURS, ENDED UP SAYING IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY AND THEY REPLACED IT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. IT DIED ON A COUNTRY ROAD. I WAS TOLD TO WAIT A LITTLE BIT AND TRY AND DRIVE IT IN, IT DIED SEVERAL MORE TIMES BEFORE FINALLY DYING ON A BRIDGE AND NEEDING A TOW. AFTER A FEW DAYS THE PROBLEM WAS FINALLY TRACKED DOWN TO A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY. I WAS TOLD THIS PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE MAY BE MORE CARS OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS TOLD US FOR APPROX 10000 MILES (HALF THE TOTAL MILEAGE DRIVEN TO THIS POINT) THAT THE WEAR IS NOT ABNORMAL, BUT NOW WE CAN NOT LONGER DRIVE THE VAN IN INCLEMENT WEATHER SINCE THE LAST 1/5 OF BOTH SIDES OF THE TIRES HAVE WORN TO THE POINT OF NOT HAVING ANY WATER SIPES LEFT TO PREVENT HYDROPLANING IN RAINY CONDITIONS. THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPT HAS REVEALED THAT THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TIRES, BUT MICHELIN IN THEIR TYPICALLY "HOLIER THAN THOUGH" MANNER OF NEVER MAKING A BAD PRODUCT (THIS WORDS FROM THE DEALER REP) HAS STONE WALLED ATTEMPTS AT GETTING THEM TO ADMIT FAULT WITH THE DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE OF THE PRODUCT. FURTHERMORE, THEY HAVE A MONOPOLY ON THE PRODUCT'S REPLACEMENT, LEAVING CUSTOMERS NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY A KING'S RANSOM FOR ANOTHER SET OF THESE TIRES WE DO NOT WANT. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, WE HAVE NOTICED THAT WHENEVER WE PRESSED ON THE BRAKES, THERE IS A LOUD CREAKING SOUND, A SOUND OF METAL CREAKING AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO SNAP.
