WHEN ENGINE IS OFF AND I LOCK THE DOORS BY REMOTE CONTROL, AFTER FEW MINUTES SAFETY ALARM WILL BE ACTIVE ( LIGHTING STARTED TO ON/OFF FOR 120 SECOND AND WHISTLE ALSO CONTINUES ACTIVE).
PASSENGER' SLIDING DOOR ALARM SOUNDED WHEN DRIVING WAS NOT OPEN. BATTERY REPEATEDLY BEING DRAINED. DEALER REMOVED SLIDING DOOR CLOSER MOTOR (!) NOW DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED AND IF YOU FORCE IT CLOSED ALARM WILL GO OFF RANDOMLY. THIS PROBLEM WITH POWER DOORS IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. PLEASE HELP.
MY SLIDING DOOR OFF ON ME CAUSE ME TO PULL A MUSCLE IN MY CHEST AND PUT ME IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM.
I JUST SEEN THIS RECALL: HONDA WILL RECALL ABOUT 122,000 OF ITS 2018 AND 2019 MODEL YEAR ODYSSEY MINIVANS DUE TO THE RISK THAT ITS SLIDING DOORS COULD OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN USE. IN DOCUMENTS FILED WITH THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION, THE AUTOMAKER SAYS THAT THE REAR LATCHES ON THE POWER SLIDING DOOR MIGHT "GENERATE HIGHER THAN NORMAL FRICTION, CAUSING THEM TO STICK." IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN, THE DOORS COULD BE PREVENTED FROM CLOSING ALL THE WAY WHICH WOULD OBVIOUSLY INCREASE THE CHANCES THEY FLY OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN USE. MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY'S SLIDING DOORS DO THE SAME THING YET THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON IT.
DRIVING THE 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY POWER SHUTS OFF TO THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. YOU DIDN'T TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON IT WILL START. WHEN THERE IS A HEAVY LOAD ON THE VEHICLE THE CAR WILL STALL. THE POWER SHUT OFF HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND EVEN BLINKERS WILL NOT WORK. THIS IS DRIVING IN LOCAL AND HIGHWAY THE CAR STOPS.
THE PAINT IS CHIPPED OFF THE CAR SLOWLY , AND THE ELECTRONIC PART OF THE CAR ACTING WEIRD, THE DAISY DOOR SOME TIMES WORK AUTOMATICALLY AND SOME TIMES NOT
TAKATA RECALL BACK OF SLIDING DOOR WONT LATCH
1) I HAVE OCCASIONAL "CHECK AIRBAGS" MESSAGE POPPING UP ON THE DASHBOARD, WHICH DISAPPEAR AFTER TURNING OFF/BACK ON. IT MAY HAPPEN WHILE I AM RIDING OR WHEN SETTING THE GEAR TO PARK AND UNPLUGGING THE SEATBELT. CONSUMER REPORTS SHOWS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL DECLARED ON AIRBAGS BACK ON AUGUST 1, 2005 SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR ON MAY, 2005. AMERICAN HONDA SAID THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON AIRBAGS. I WOULD STILL DRIVE THIS CAR AND BY THAT REASON DECIDED CONTACT NHTDS. 2) RUST ON THE BODY OF THE CAR ABOVE THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL IS GETTING DEEPER. I HAVE SEEN EXACTLY THE SAME SPOT RUSTED ON OTHER ODYSSEYS MADE IN 2005 OR LATER, WHEN DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED A GAPING HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK FROM WHERE THE IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000.
THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH MOTER RUNNING SAT THERE WHILE FINISHING SOMETHING, HAVING MY FOOT ON THE BREAK WENT TO PUT MY VAN IN PARK AFTER WHICH TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND MY VAN LUNGES FORWARD. I STOMPED ON MY BRAKES BARELY IN TIME TO NOT GO THROUGH MY GARAGE DOOR. #2 I WAS PARKED MUCH LIKE #1 IN FRONT OF MY GYM FOOT ON THE BRAKE WENT TO PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND IT LUNGES FORWARD, I STOMPED ON THE BRAKE IN TIME TO NOT GO ALL THE WAY UP THE CRUB. STILL NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT WAS HAPPENING. #3 WAS A WEEK AGO. I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A PARKING SPACE ALMOST A U-TURN AND MY VAN EXCELLERATED SO FAST I WAS HEADED STRAIGHT FOR A CONCRETE PILLAR, WAS ABLE TO STOMP ON THE BRAKES COMING WAY TO CLOSE TO HITTING THE PILLAR. I TOOK THE ODYSSEY INTO HONDA THEY RAN THEIR TESTS AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY JUST THOUGHT I MUST HAVE SLIPPED OF THE BRAKE. WELL THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED IN EITHER OF THE 3 TIMES. VERY SCARY AND DRIVE VERY CAUTIOUS NOW. STOP A CAR LENGTH FROM OTHER CARS FROM CROSSWALKS PARK WITH MY EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND EXCELLERATE SLOWLY! PRAYING IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, MY 93 YEAR OLD MOTHER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT ON #3 AND SCARED HER TO DEATH!
WE ARE THE ONLY OWNER OF THE VAN BOUGHT BRAND NEW FROM A HONDA DEALER. AT APPROXIMATELY 145K MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALERS WANTED A SMALL FORTUNE TO REPAIR IT, MORE THAN THE CAR WAS WORTH IT. I LEARNED THAT IT IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM WITH THOSE HONDA ODYSSEYS. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED THOUGH.
AFTER THE THIRD ROW HAS BEEN FOLDED FLAT AND YOU ARE BRINGING IT BACK OUT TO MAKE IT A SEAT AGAIN, IT OFTEN WILL NOT LATCH WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF A SECOND PERSON TO HELP GUIDE THE SEAT INTO THE PROPER PLACE. THIS GENERALLY HAPPENS WITH THE 2 SEAT SECTION AND NOT THE SINGLE SEAT SECTION (SINCE THEY FOLD 60/40). IF YOU DON'T REALIZE THE SEAT DID NOT LATCH, THEN IT CAN EASILY ROLL BACK AND TRY TO FOLD FLAT WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR SHOULD SOMEONE TRY TO CLIMB OVER IT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR QUITE A WHILE, BUT WHEN I SAW THAT A CHILD DIED BECAUSE OF IT, I WANTED TO REPORT IT.
THE VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING DURING LOWER SPEED LIMITS. IT SEEMS TO STOP ONCE THE VEHICLE GOES FASTER PAST THE LOWER GEARS.
WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHAKE THE WHOLE VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO REDUCE THE GAS AND THEN ACCELERATE AGAIN TO END THE SHAKENING.NOW, THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND SHAKES WORST
THE SLIDING DOORS ARE UNSAFE. THEY DO NOT STAY LOCKED AND ARE HARD TO CLOSE. I HAVE SEEN WERE SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE SLIDING DOORS. I HAVE SLAMMED THE DOORS AND THE DOORS STILL SHOW AS OPENED AND HAVE SLID OPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS IS ACTUALLY THE 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED. THE AUTO FUNCTION OF THE DOORS ALSO DOESN'T WORK WELL.
TAKATA RECALL - THE POWER SLIDING DOORS COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON THEIR OWN. AT FIRST THE RIGHT REAR DOOR POWER STOPPED WORKING AND THE SAME DAY THE DOOR CAME OPEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THAT IS NOT GOOD WITH CHILDREN UNDER 8 YEARS OF AGE!!!!! NOW THE LEFT REAR DOOR STILL HAS THE AUTOMATIC POWER WORKING BUT HAS PROBLEMS WITH COMING OPEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK UNDER 1000 RPMS. PASSENGER AIRBAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING.
FRONT & REAR ENGINE MOUNTS BOTH WENT BAD AND THE ENGINE SHAKES AT THE SAME TIME IS THEIR ANY RECALL ABOUT THIS ISSURE
CAR WILL ONLY RUN FROM 3 TO 8 DAYS. THEN HAS TO JUMPED OFF. NEW BATTERY. ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY CHECKED NO PROBLEM. I THINK IT MIGHT BE THE FUSE BOXES OR SOMETHING ELECTRICAL.VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND CAN'T FIND OUT WHY. IT COMES ON WHEN SOMEONE LEAVES OR ENTERS THE CAR AND DOES WHEN CAR IS TURNED ON AND STAYS ON AFTER THE LIGHTS ARE DONE FROM STARTING
SLIDING DOORS ON THE VAN HESITATE TO OPEN AND CLOSE PROPERLY AND THEN EVENTUALLY FALL OFF THE HINGES
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE MY CHILDREN'S AND MY SEATBELTS WERE DEFECTIVE. MY CHILDREN'S CARSEATS WERE NOT SECURE AND UPON IMPACT JILTED FORWARD. MY SON AND DAUGHTERS HEADS HIT THE HANDLE ON THE SEAT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THEM. HONDA SENT OUT THEIR TEAM OF TECHNICAL SPECIALIST WHO INSPECTED THE VAN AND SAID THE SEAT BELTS DIDN'T WORK BECAUSE NO-ONE USED SEATBLELTS. HOWEVER THE POLICE AND FIRST RESPONDER ARE THE ONES WHO UNBUCKELED MY CHILDRENS SEATS AND IT IS IN THE REPORTS EVERYONE WAS RESTRAINED. I'M CONCERNED BECAUSE NO RECALL OR WARNING HAS BEEN SENT OUT TO OTHERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPEN AND CLOSE, AND FELL OFF THE TRACK WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 184,577.
PURCHASED MY VAN USED IN 2012. IT HAD A STEERING ISSUE BUT I WAS NEW TO THE FEEL OF HONDA HANDLING AND THOUGHT IT WAS OK AND NORMAL. I HAVE HAD INCREASING ISSUES WITH MY CAPABILITY TO STEER. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RESERVOIR BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF MY VAN DID NOT HAVE IT SERVICED. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID IT IS PASSED WARRANTY AND CANNOT ABSORB THE COST OF THE REPAIR. I SAY, THAT SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER FIXED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, IT SHOULD BE FIXED NOW BECAUSE HONDA NEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM WHILE THE TIME FRAME STILL OBLIGATED THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY STEERING MY VAN, TURNING THE VAN, WITH CHILDREN IN IT, AND SO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS ATTENTION BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ADDRESSED AND FIXED WHEN HONDA SHOULD HAVE FIXED IT.
WHILE STATIONARY, LIGHT APPEARS ON DASHBOARD INDICATING PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR. DOOR WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE USING ANY METHOD. MESSAGE STAYS ON DASHBOARD PREVENTING ME FROM SEEING OTHER IMPORTANT MESSAGES UNTIL A RESET IS DONE, I RESET BY REMOVING A FUSE, TURNING THE KEY TWICE WITHOUT TURNING THE CAR ON AND PUTTING THE FUSE BACK IN. THAT'S A TEMPORARY FIX BECAUSE THE PROBLEM RETURNS AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR A COUPLE OF TIMES. MANY HONDA OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO HONDA AND INDICATED ONLINE THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH INVOLVED COSTLY REPAIRS THAT SOMETIMES DOESN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS AND HAS HAPPENED TO ENOUGH OWNERS OF HONDA MINIVANS THAT A RECALL IS NECESSARY.
THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDE OF MY ODESSEY VAN COULD NOT BE OPENED. THEY ALWAYS STUCK AND HARD TO OPEN. MY ODESSEY VAN'S LEFT SLIDING DOOR COULD NOT OPEN FOR YEARS. AND MY RIGHT SLIDING DOOR ALSO COULD NOT BE OPENED. ON 8/29/17, MY SON TRIED TO OPEN THE RIGHT SLIDING DOOR THROUGH THE OUTSIDE AND IT FELL OFF/FELL DOWN AND INJURED MY SON ON HIS FEET THAT ENDED UP IN THE EMERGENCY HOSPITAL. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT TO ASK YOUR AGENCY TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE ON THIS MATTER AND FURTHER PROTECT OTHER CONSUMER FROM INJURY. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE IT WAS PARKED ON THE PARKING LOT. IF THE CAR IS ON THE ROAD OR ON MOTION THEN IT WOULD BE MORE DANGEROUS AND CAUSE CAR ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT NOTICED STRONG FUEL FUMES IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE TANK, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V112000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY GOING ON AND OFF. IT STARTED AUGUST 4, 2017 WHILE DRIVING HOME. MOST OF THE TIME ITS OFF. ITS BEEN ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THIS MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK IT LIT ON AND AGAIN GOING HOME FROM WORK ITS ON.
SIDE DOOR OPENED, AUTOMATIC DOOR CABLE JAMMED
TAKATA RECALL. MY HONDA VAN HAS THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ON. MOST DAYS, IT IS NOT LIT, BUT FOR INSTANCE, DRIVING TODAY, I GOT THE LIGHT. VAN HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IS STILL THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT. AIRBAGS DON'T FAIL UNLESS IT IS FAULTY MANUFACTURER SUCH AS PART OF TAKATA RECALL. HONDA VAN RECALL IS LIMITED TO 2004 BUT I THINK 2005 CAN ALSO BE AFFECTED.
3 WEEKS AGO MY FAMILY COMPLAINED THAT THEY SMELLED GAS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR, I LATER SMELLED IT ALSO. I BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY FOUND OUT THE FUEL PUMP HAS CRACKS ON THE TOP COVER AND THAT IS CAUSING THE LEAK. I LOOKED INTO IT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT FROM 2005 TO 2010 THERE WAS RECALLS ON THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THE TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED BASED ON MY VIN. I STARTED THE CAR THIS PAST FRIDAY AND THE CAR TURNED OFF AND LEAKED OUT FUEL FROM THE BOTTOM. IT SEEMS I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THESE HONDA ODYSSEYS. WAS IT A MISTAKE MY VECHICLE WAS SKIPPED OUT ON THE RECALL?
COMPLAINT - AIR BAGS & SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM TAKATA RECALL. MY HONDA VAN HAS THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ON. MOST DAYS, IT IS NOT LIT, BUT FOR INSTANCE, DRIVING TODAY, I GOT THE LIGHT. VAN HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IS STILL THE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED EQUIPMENT. AIRBAGS DON'T FAIL UNLESS IT IS FAULTY MANUFACTURER SUCH AS PART OF TAKATA RECALL. HONDA VAN RECALL IS LIMITED TO 2004 BUT I THINK 2005 CAN ALSO BE AFFECTED.ALSO ANTI THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM IS OUT OF CONTROL AND ANY TIME IS ACTIVATED.
BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT ON THE MIDDLE OF OUR DRIVE ON I-95 N BACK FROM VA TO HOME IN NJ. WE WERE WITH FAMILY INCLUDING 12 YEAR OLD SON, WE HAD TO PULL THE VAN ON THE SHOULDER (BARELY ANY) . WE HAD TO CALL AAA TO GET OUR VAN TOWED TO NJ ABOUT 140 MILES. THE MECHANIC TELLS US THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILED AND THE COST WOULD BE AROUND $4000. OUR CONCERN IS THE SAFETY AND AMERICAN HONDA FAILED TO HELP US TO COVER THE COST OF TRANSMISSION ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. ALSO, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, THE DOOR BECAME INOPERABLE AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROLLER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE AND CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN MANEUVERING VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG RE-DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT ON A CITY STREET AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AND ACCELERATE. I HAD TO STEP VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM ENTERING THE INTERSECTION. I GOT THE VEHICLE STOPPED, BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE; WHEN I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, THE RPMS INCREASED EVEN MORE. I THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK, AND THE RPMS FINALLY WENT DOWN. HAD I NOT STEPPED VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES AT THE START OF THE INCIDENT, I WOULD HAVE ENTERED THE INTERSECTION AND HIT OTHER CARS IN THE INTERSECTION. WHEN MY SON WAS LEARNING TO DRIVE TWO YEARS AGO, HE HAD TWO SIMILAR INCIDENTS WHEN I WAS IN THE CAR. IN BOTH CASES, AS HE WAS COMING TO A STOP IN A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND HOPPED THE CURB. AT FIRST I THOUGHT HE MAY HAVE HIT THE ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE, BUT NOW I WONDER IF HE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO HIM.
VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OVER 25 MPH WITHOUT SHAKING VIOLENTLY. PILLING MISFIRE CODES
THE AIRBAG LIGHT (SRS) IS STAYING ON INTERMITTENTLY, MOST OFTEN AFTER IT SITS OVERSITS OVERNIGHT. THIS OCCURS WHEN TURNING ON THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON, SOMETIMES IT TURNS OFF. HONDA WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS PROBLEM AFTER TAKING TO THE DEALER AND BEING NOTIFIED THAT THE SRS MODULE MAY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OVER $750.00
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR COMPLETELY LOCKED IN THE OPEN POSITION SATURDAY EVENING WHILE OUT WITH MY GRANDKIDS. MY DAUGHTER'S AND I HAD TO BREAK THE DOOR OFF JUST TO GET HOME IN THE DARK BY SECURING THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR WITH THE SEATBELT LEAVING ONE GRANDCHILD CAR SEAT UNSECURED. NOW THE VAN IS PARKED WITH THE DOOR AS IS IN THE RAIN. I CAN'T DRIVE TO THE DEALER AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT TOWED THERE MUCH LESS PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS. SAFETY IS A SERIOUS ISSUE DRIVING WITHOUT A SECURE DOOR.
WE HAVE OWNED OUT DARK BLUE 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS. RECENTLY, I AM FINDING THAT THE PAINT ALONG THE ROOF AND SIDE/FRONT TRIM PANELS IS CHIPPING AWAY. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SAND SOME OF THE BED SPOTS AND PAINT /PROTECT AGAIN, BUT IT IS NO USE. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH THE BASE LAYER BELOW THE BLUE PAINT. I HAVE SEEN WHERE THIS WAS IDENTIFIED, BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS DEFECT THE SECOND AREA OF CONCERN IS IN THE WIRING FOR THE RADIO AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOOSE WIRE OR CONNECTION BEHIND THE PANELS. THE BACK-LIGHTS FOR THE RADIO AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL WILL TURN ON OR OFF WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATION AS TO WHY. THE SYSTEMS THEMSELVES WORK FINE, IT'S ONLY THE VISIBLE LIGHTS THAT FLICKER, OR TURN OFF AND ON WITH NO PATTERN. MY FEAR IS THAT IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT MAY CAUSE A FIRE IF THE CROSSING OF WIRES OR SHORTING CONTINUES. THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING, SITTING STILL, CAR OFF (POWER ON), THERE IS NO COMMON FLAG OR TRIGGER THAT WOULD POINT TO A PROBLEM. AND ALL FUNCTIONS WORK (EVEN WHEN LIGHTS ARE OFF). ALSO, THE CAR JUST STARTED TO VIBRATE WHEN ACCELERATION BETWEEN 55-65. MY MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS MAY BE DUE TO FAULTY AXLES OR POSSIBLY THE TRANSMISSION, BOTH OF WHICH HAVE OPEN ISSUES WITH HONDA AND TO CHECK WITH YOU FIRST. *TR

SHORTLY AFTER THE DEALER'S REPAIR, THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE IF THE DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE CONDITION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. IN 2014, WHILE DRIVING UP HILL ON THE GRAPEVINE IN GORMAN, CA I HIT THE GAS TO ACCELERATE, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT MOVE. IT WAS STUCK ON 40MPS. I TRIED PUSHING ON THE GAS, BUT THAT DID NOTHING. IT WAS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS JUST NOT WORKING. I STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AS WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BY DIVINE INTERVENTION. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IS WHAT IT WAS, SO THAT IS WHAT IT HAS TO BE. THEY NEVER MAKE MISTAKES. ON JUNE 22, 2016 GOING UP HILL, AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PICK UP SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT MOVE. PUSHING ON THE GAS DID NOTHING. I CONTINUED TO MOVE UNTIL THE HILL BECAME TO STEEP, AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED. STARTING TO ROLL BACKWARDS, I HIT THE BRAKES AND HELD ON FOR DEAL LIFE. ONCE AGAIN AAA HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO HONDA. WELL, GUESS WHAT THEY SAID THIS TIME. YOU NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. YES, THAT IS WHAT THEY SAID THIS 2ND TIME. AT 140K MILES, I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND IT IS GOING TO COST ME $6,000. WFT! MY 1997 FORD WINDSTAR IS STILL GOING STRONG WITH 250K MILES. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT HONDA, BUT I AM GETTING NOWHERE. NO RETURN CALLS, NO COMMUNICATION NOTHING.
