TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE IGNITION MECHANISM FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FRACTURED PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AS I WAS DRIVING ALONE AROUND 30 MILES PER HOUR MY AIR CONDITION WAS BLOWING COLD AIR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF NO WHERE IT STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR AND I THOUGHT I MAY NEED SOME FREON, BUT SINCE IT WAS CLOSE TO THE END OF SUMMER LAST YEAR I FIGURED I COULD HOLD ON UNTIL SUMMER OF THIS YEAR. I FINALLY TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT RECHARGED AND WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR COMPRESSOR WAS NOT WORKING. THERE WAS NO SIGN AT ALL AND I AM WONDERING WHY ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST STOP WORKING. *TR
2005 HONDA TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AT 60K MILES. SOME MOTOR MOUNTS WERE RUINED FROM THE SHAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT AXLE HAS DAMAGE FROM THE SHAKING AS WELL. AND I STILL NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE GEARING GETS STUCK SHIFTING AROUND 45 MPH, IT GROANS AND SHAKES THE CAR BEFORE FINALLY SHIFTING DOWN A GEAR. *KB
WHEN THE CAR IS ABOUT 45-50 MPH THE ENGINE SHUTTERS. IT FEELS LIKE I'M DRIVING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS. THE CAR ALSO SHUTTERS WHEN THE ECO LIGHT COMES ON. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAILING AND THAT IT IS A KNOWN FAILURE IN THIS MODEL AND YEAR. HONDA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. *TR
I HAVE OWNED MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING SINCE IT WAS NEW. I REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AT 34K MILES. I HAVE PUT 3 SETS OF TIRES ON MY MINIVAN EVEN THOUGH I ROTATE EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE. ALL DONE BY THE DEALER. MY VAN WILL LOOSE STEERING AT TIMES WHEN IT IS COLD AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WILL SHAKE WHEN DRIVING AS WELL AS WHEN BRAKING. I JUST REPLACED THE TIRES WHICH INCLUDED A FRONT-END ALIGNMENT AND TIRE BALANCE. THE SHIMMY, VIBRATION AND SHAKING BACK/FORTH IS STILL THERE. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN CLEARED BY DEALER AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH MY ODYSSEY. THE WATER PUMP STARTED AT 15K MILES AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT BACK THEY DID NOT KNOW THE ISSUE AND CHANGED THE WATER PUMP AT 34K MILES. THE TIRE SHAKING, VIBRATING AND SHIMMY HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 55K MILES AND THE VAN NOW HAS 105K. I AM TIRED OF THE PROBLEM. IT HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT I DON'T WAN TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO FAIL. THIS IS A HONDA AND IS SUPPOSE TO LAST. HONDA NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THIS PROBLEM. AS I SEARCH THE WEB THERE ARE MANY HONDA OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT HONDA WILL NOT DO A RECALL. HONDA NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. STEERING. PEOPLE CAN DIE FROM THIS. IN ADDITION, HONDA NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT MANY WITH THESE PROBLEMS WILL BE PURCHASING ANOTHER VAN IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND WON'T BUY A HONDA DUE THE LACK OF ATTENTION TO THESE MATTERS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE OR REENACT IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V132000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 TO 40 MPH THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS SECURED THEM AND THEY EXPERIENCED SEVERE CHEST PAIN WHEN TIGHTENED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILES WERE 120,000.
MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY IS TAKING ON WATER IN THE HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE. AFTER IT RAINS WHEN THE LIFTGATE IS RAISED WATER WILL POOR OUT OF IT WHERE THE LIFTGATE WILL LATCH. IT IS NOT A FEW DROPS OF WATER, IT POURS OUT. ALSO THE WATER LEAKS INSIDE AS SITS IN THE BACK CARGO AREA. *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON AND OFF. AFTER TWO YEARS THE LIGHT ON MOST OF THE TIME AND IT WENT OFF AUTOMATICALLY FOR A WHILE THEN CAME BACK ON. I CALL TO AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR INC. THEY DON'T WANT TO CREATE A RECALL FOR THAT BECAUSE THAT WILL BE DIFFERENT COMPONENT FAIL IN THAT CASE. THEY JUST WANT TO CREATE THE RECALL FOR EACH COMPONENT BREAK DOWN. THEY NOT COVER THE REPAIR COST AND DEPEND ON WHICH COMPONENT UNDER WARRANTY THEN HONDA WILL NOT CHARGE THE PARTS. OTHERWISE WE NEED TO PAY ALL THE REPAIR. I REQUEST FOR THE RECALL FOR THE SRS LIGHT ON. BECAUSE A LOT OF THE OWNERS THINK THAT IS NOT IMPORTANT THEY THINK JUST THE LIGHT IS ON AND KEEP DRIVING. I WAS THINKING THE SAME WAY TOO. THAT'S WHY I WANT TO REQUEST THAT RECALL ASAP FOR THE SRS LIGHT ON SO WE WILL SAVE THE PEOPLE LIFE IN ADVANCE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-90, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. TEMPERATURE WAS 45 DEGREES. INSIDE SUN ROOF COVER WAS CLOSED SO NO GLASS ENTERED THE INTERIOR. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES AHEAD OF ME. HAD THE COVER BEEN OPENED AND SMALL CHILDREN IN THE MIDDLE SEATS, SERIOUS INJURIES MAY HAVE OCCURRED. I SUGGEST THAT A SAFETY NOTICE BE ISSUED STATING THAT WHEN THE MIDDLE AND BACK ROW OF SEATS ARE OCCUPIED THEN THE SUN ROOF COVER BE CLOSED. I FEEL THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FLAW AS THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INSTANCES OF THE SAME PROBLEMS AND MOST ARE DIRECTED TOWARDS THE 2005 MODEL ODYSSEY VAN. IN ADDITION A SAFETY RECALL MAY BE IN ORDER. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD BE INFORMED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE ENGINE POWER WAS EXTREMELY LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TIMING BELT JUMPED TIME AND THE HEAD GASKET VALVES WERE BENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,247.
WE ARE ORIG OWNER OF VEHICLE. IN 4/11 HAD VAN SERVICED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. IN 5/11 WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TOOK TO REPAIR SHOP. NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. CALLED HONDA (WHILE IT WAS BEING SERVICED A TRANNY SHOP) AND THEY SAID IF I TOWED IT TO A DEALERSHIP THEY'D TAKE A LOOK AND DOUBTED ANYTHING COULD BE DONE, BUT THEY'D LOOK. AT THAT POINT I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY REPAIR SHOP FOR WORK ALREADY DONE (NEAR 1000). I SEE A RECALL IN THE NEWS FOR 2005+ ODYSSEYS BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED BY HONDA PERSONALLY. WE WOULD LIKE REIMBURSEMENT FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT IS A RECURRENT THEME ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET WITH THESE VEHICLES. *KB
MY DAUGHTER WAS RIDING REAR FACING IN HER SUNSHINE KIDS RADIAN 80XTSL. WHEN I LOOKED BACK IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR I NOTICED THAT SHE WAS WIGGLING HER FOOT ON THE LATCH BUCKLE, AND ASKED HE TO STOP. WHEN WE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND I WENT TO TAKE HER OUT OF HER SEAT I NOTICED THAT SHE HAD ACTUALLY UNLATCHED THE SEAT SIMPLY BY PUSHING ON IT WITH HER FEET! FAULTY PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE AIRBAG IMPACT SWITCH. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, NOTICED THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM TIRES AND VIBRATION IN THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED A LARGE BULGE ON ONE OF THE TIRES AND THE BULGE WAS ON THE TREADS. THE TIRE STORE DESCRIBED THIS AS TIRE TREAD SEPARATION. THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN THREE MONTHS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. TWO OF THE FOUR TOYO VERSADO TIRES ON MY VEHICLE FAILED AS A RESULT OF TREAD SEPARATION. THE RETAIL STORE WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE TIRES GAVE ME A CREDIT TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF NEW TIRES. THEY KEPT THE FAILED TIRES. *TR

SLIDING DOOR WILL GET STUCK. CENTER DOOR BRACKET 72521-SHJ-A21 IS DEFECTIVE, SMALL PLASTIC WHEEL WILL GET WORN AND COMES OFF. IMPROPER DESIGN AND LACK OF ROUTINE LUBRICATION IS THE CAUSE. *TR

HONDA SERVICE TELLS ME REAR MOTOR MOUNT HAS FAILED AND WILL CAUSE DRIVE TRAIN AND STABILITY ISSUES IF NOT FIXED AT A COST OF ABOUT $900 PER MOUNT. DEALER TELLS ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ODYSSEY YET HONDA HAS NOT RECALLED OR OFFERED ANY ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN TAKING ALL MY MONEY. 3. HAVEN'T CORRECTED/REPLACED THE FAULTY MOTOR MOUNT YET DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS AND NEED TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE FIRST. FROM WHAT THE DEALER TELLS ME AND WHAT I'M FINDING ALL OVER THE INTERNET THIS IS A VERY WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THESE FAILING HONDA ODYSSEY MOTOR MOUNTS. FEARFUL FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING THIS ODYSSEY SHOULD THE OTHER MOUNTS AND OR DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION AS A RESULT OF THESE DEFECTIVE MOTOR MOUNTS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING TANK EXHIBITED A DESIGN FLAW AND WAS CAUSING THE POWER STEERING FLUID TO SWIRL AROUND IN THE TANK AND EXHIBIT AN EXCESSIVE NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A DESIGN FLAW AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RECALLED IN OTHER COUNTRIES FOR THE FAILURE, THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE RECALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WAS 92,000.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND IT WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO FUEL PRESSURE DELIVERED TO THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V097000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY, TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 111,930 MILES. THE TRANSMISSIONS SHOPS SAID THE TORQUE CONVERTERS ARE BAD AND FAIL REGULARLY IN THE HONDA VANS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED LATER THE AIR CONDITIONER STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR INSTEAD OF COLD AIR. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER WAS PUNCTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. MY 05 ODYSSEY'S LIGHTS IN THE ODOMETER WERE FLASHING ON AND OFF. SOMETIMES, THEY JUST FLASH. SOMETIMES, THEY FLASH AND ALL THE GAUGE, SPEED, RPM, TEMP, AND FUEL DROPPED BRIEFLY BEFORE THEY GO BACK UP AGAIN. WHEN THEY WERE DOING THAT (DROPPED) THE VEHICLE DID NOT JERK. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BUT A FEW DAYS LATER IT DISAPPEARED. THEN IT CAME ON AGAIN. I USED AN OBD II READER TO READ IT AND IT GAVE ME A CODE ABOUT THE ECM/PCM MODULE. I BOUGHT AND REPLACED BOTH RELAYS BUT TO THIS DAY (3/21/11) THE FLASHING IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. TODAY EVERYTHING FLASHES AND IT SEEMS LIKE ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE (INCLUDING ALL THE GAUGES) WERE DOWN FOR ABOUT TWO SECONDS WHILE THE CAR WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 65-70 MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE DOOR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY OPEN WITHOUT THE DRIVER OPENING THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT HIS ENGINE MOUNTS WERE CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT SINCE THE ENGINE MOUNTS WERE MADE OF RUBBER THAT THE WEAR AND TEAR WAS NORMAL. A COMPLAINT WAS REGISTERED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. ODYSSEY HAD GREAT VIBRATION THROUGH STEERING WHEEL AND THROUGH BODY OF CAR. VIBRATION VARIED DEPENDING ON SPEED. THIS COULD OF CAUSED A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. DIAGNOSIS WAS FAILURE OF REAR AND SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 20 MONTHS. POOR DESIGN OF THESE MOUNTS FAIL PREMATURELY AND CAUSE VIBRATION AND HANDLING ERRORS WHICH COULD HAVE TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, VEHICLE SHUDDERING IN BETWEEN GEAR CHANGES. 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY, 58,000 MILES. NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION PER REPAIR SHOP AND DEALER. APPEARS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON HONDA TRANSMISSIONS FROM 2000 TO 2010 HONDA ODYSSEYS. WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $4800 TO REPLACE. NO RECALL TO DATE YET NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE NET. *TR
THE CAR SHUTTERS AROUND 30-40 MPH. I CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION FOR 3-5 SECONDS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BY HONDA VEHICLE'S QUALITY. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DO HONDA AND THE GOVERNMENT NEED FOR A RECALL? 05 ODDESSEY'S ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE VEHICLE ENGINE IS SHUTTING OFF WITH NO WARNING. THERE HAVE BEEN APPROXIMATELY 6 INSTANCES OF THE VEHICLE BEING OPERATED AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT WHEN IN REVERSE. THERE HAVE BEEN 3 INCIDENTS AT LOW SPEED, WHILE MAKING TURNS, AND 2 INCIDENTS WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEED (ONE AT 40 MPH AND ONE AT 70 MPH). THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 3 OCCASIONS BUT THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO CODES SENT TO THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT ON 3/6/2011 WAS WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. WE REFERRED THE SERVICE WRITER TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 05V132000 AND 07V097000 BUT HE WAS UNWILLING TO CONSIDER THAT OUR ISSUE WAS RELATED TO EITHER OF THESE PREVIOUSLY NOTED FAILURES.
I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY AND HAVE NUMEROUS TIME BEEN CLOSE TO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO LOOSING STEERING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT STARTED AROUND 50K MILES AND CONTINUES. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR IT. *TT
SLIDING DOORS DO NOT LATCH COMPLETELY. THEY CLOSE BUT A FEW SECONDS LATER OPEN AGAIN WITH LIGHT SHOWING THEY ARE OPEN. DOORS HAVE COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING WITH CHILDREN IN BACK, EVEN WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE LOCKED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE DESPITE CHILDREN BEING SECURED IN A SEATBELT. *TR
I PURCHASED 4 GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TOURING P235/65R16 TIRES THAT WERE INSTALLED ON 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY LX. VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED AND TIRES ROTATED, BALANCED, AND PRESSURE CHECKED REGULARLY. THE TIRE WAS ADVERTISED WITH A 70,000 MILE TREAD LIFE WARRANTY. AT APPROXIMATELY 17,300 MILES I NOTICED THE TREAD ON ALL 4 TIRES APPEARED TO BE SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE WHEN VIEWED FROM THE SIDE. I TOOK IT TO ORIGINAL TIRE DEALER WHO TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. AT THE NEXT ROTATION, I AGAIN NOTED THAT THE SEPARATION APPEARED TO BE GETTING WORSE. AGAIN I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL. AT 24,000 MILES, AND WITHIN 400 MILES OF A ROTATION AND BALANCE, THE TIRES DEVELOPED A VERY MILD VIBRATION, WHICH HAS NEVER COMPLETELY GONE AWAY, EVEN WITH FURTHER ROTATION AND BALANCE. AT 45,000 MILES, THERE WERE CRACKS (POSSIBLY DRY ROT) BEGINNING TO FORM ALL OVER THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. ADDITIONALLY, THE TREAD HAD NOTICEABLE SEPARATION FROM TIRE. LASTLY, THE TIRES HAD WORN TO THE 2/32 MINIMUM TREAD DEPTH. THE TIRE DEALER REFUSED SERVICE OR EVEN PRORATE THE TIRE TOWARDS NEW ONES. I CALLED GOODYEAR, BUT THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO DEAL WITH THE TIRE DEALER, AS THAT TIRE WAS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THEM. THE TIRE DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM, THOUGH THEY HAVE NOW OFFERED A MINIMAL PREPORATION AMOUNT WHICH ISN'T ENOUGH TO OFFSET THE COST OF THE INSTALLATION OF NEW TIRES. THE DEALER REFUSES TO PRORATE BASED ON ACTUAL MILEAGE VS WARRANTED MILEAGE, ALTHOUGH THEIR WRITTEN WARRANTY POLICY STATES THAT IS THE WAY THE WARRANTY SHOULD BE HANDLED. *TR

WE HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY W/LESS THAN 65K MILES ON IT AND JUST HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE REAR AND SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE REPAIR BILL WAS $1041.65 PLUS THE LABOR TO DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE BOTH BY LEITH AND BAYLEAF. THE CRACKED REAR MOTOR MOUNT NOTICED BY LEITH HONDA ON CAPITAL RD. IN RALEIGH, NC. THEY QUOTED CLOSE TO $900 FOR JUST THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT REPLACEMENT, AND THEY SAID THAT THE OTHER MOTOR MOUNTS COULD BE BROKEN BUT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE MOTOR OUT TO SEE. WE HAD BAYLEAF TIRE AND AUTO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THEY WERE RECOMMENDED TO US AND THEIR QUOTE WAS LOWER. THEY FOUND THAT THE SIDE MOTOR MOUNT WAS BROKEN AS WELL. CHRIS OF BAYLEAF SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD ODYSSEYS AROUND THE SAME MODEL YEAR COME IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND HAD CALLED HONDA TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE. I HAVE SEEN PLENTY OF EVIDENCE ONLINE THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE MOTOR MOUNTS RELATED TO THE ECO MODE (DROPPING FROM 4 TO 3 CYLINDERS TO SAVE FUEL) BEING INSTITUTED IN THE ODYSSEYS IN THE MID-2000'S WITHOUT A CORRESPONDING CHANGE TO THE DESIGN OF THE MOTOR MOUNTS WHICH COULD NOT HANDLE THE ADDITIONAL VIBRATION. 2005 ODYSSEY - POWER STEERING WAS GETTING DIFFICULT TO MANAGE - TOOK TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP AND HAD POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED AT 49,000 MILES. NOW AT 79,000 MILES THE POWER STEERING TURNS OFF SPORADICALLY BUT WILL THEN BE BACK ON IF YOU RESTART THE VAN. *TR

POWERING STEERING ON 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN IS EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER AT LOWER SPEEDS. THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH STEERING PUMP AS EVIDENCED BY SERVICE BULLETIN 07-005. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL MAKE WHINING, BUZZING AND STRANGE NOISES AND EVENTUALLY STOP FUNCTIONING. WE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT SWAYING WHILE DRIVING OUR HONDA ODYSSEY 2005 WITH 4 OTHER ADULTS AND 2 KIDS IN OUR VEHICLE. WE WERE IN FAIRLY NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS, NO SIGNIFICANT WINDS OR ICY ROADS BUT JUST TRYING TO DRIVE OUR VEHICLE WE HAD TOO MANY DIFFICULTIES TO CONTINUE. WE FELT PARTICULARLY UNSAFE AND UNSAFE FOR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO CANCEL OUR TRIP AS WE WERE SWERVING AND UNABLE TO CONTROL THE "SWAY" OF THE VAN WHEN REACHING SPEEDS OF 55-60 MPH. WE WERE UNSAFE TO MANEUVER ON THE HIGHWAYS AND UPON A CHECK UP WE FOUND OUT OUR RIGHT STRUT WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT, AND THE LEFT ONE ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED (ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE/VAN). WE HAD THE REPAIRS DONE AT RIVER CITY TIRE, DAVENPORT, IA AND IT WAS A SIGNIFICANT FINDING THAT THEY ALSO SAID WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING. *TR
