When braking for an intersection the engine revved after lifting foot from the accelerator and brakes were not able to stop the vehicle until I was in the middle of the intersection. Luckily no other vehicles were in the intersection at the time otherwise it would have caused a crash.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with rear brake caliper failure. The mechanic informed the contact that the rear brake caliper needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 240,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with transmission failure. The mechanic replaced the transmission however, the Antilock Brake System (ABS) failed and the brakes locked up. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
THIS IS A CAR I JUST PURCHASED FROM OWNER, MY REPORT IS THE SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. HAVING JUST PUT ON NEW PADS, IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY CHANGE IN THE PEDAL AS IT WOULD WITH MOST CARS? IS THERE ANY RECALL ON THIS CAR FOR BRAKES. I READ WHERE MANY OTHER OWNED HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE.
THE BRAKES ACTED AS A TERM STATED SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKES SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE VEHICLE IN A SHORTER DISTANCE THAN THEY ACTUALLY DID. FROM A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IT TOOK ABOUT 150 FT TO STOP AND IT STILL REQUIRED HITTING THE CAR INFRONT OF ME TO STOP AT ABOUT 5 MPH. I FELT THE ABS KICK IN BUT FOR PUSHING THE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD THE WHEELS DID NOT EVEN SQUEAL OR CHIRP. IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS JUST COMING TO A SLOW STOP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VSA SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN TWICE. THE CODE WAS CLEARED BY THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESET THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE, THE VSA SENSOR WAS STILL ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V504000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. VSA LIGHT TURNED ON AT START-UP AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. DEALER TEST RETURNED AN ERROR CODE ON THE VSA MODULATOR REQUIRING A $1300 REPLACEMENT. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY USED AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS LOW. I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALER AND HAD THEM DO AN INSPECTION AND COMPLAINED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS LOW. (NOTED IN MY WORK ORDER). THEY TOLD ME THE REAR BRAKES WERE THE CAUSE AND NEEDED REPLACING. I AGREED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AND TO CHECK FOR ANYTHING ELSE IT MAY NEED.MY VEHICLE PASSED THE NYS INSPECTION. AS SOON AS I ENTERED THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER I NOTICED THE PEDAL HAD NOT IMPROVED. I WENT BACK IN TO COMPLAIN AND THE MANAGER STATED THAT THE LOW PEDAL WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFE AND WHEN THE PEDAL GOES FURTHER DOWN THAN THE GAS PEDAL AND ALMOST TOUCHES THE FLOOR WITH NEW BRAKES INSTALLED THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. WHEN STOPPED THE PEDAL WILL TRAVEL ALMOST TWO MORE INCHES BEFORE GETTING "HARD". I KNOW HONDA HAS SOME KIND OF BULLETIN OUT ON THIS ISSUE BUT I CANT SEEN TO FIND IT. THE VEHICLE TAKES LONGER TO STOP AND THE PEDAL IS VERY SOFT AND SPONGY. IM CONCERNED THAT I WILL REAR END SOMEONE BECAUSE THE BRAKES ARE NOT SAFE. *TR

BOUGHT VEHICLE USED & NOTICED A SOFT PEDAL FROM THE GO! SAW WHERE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REBUILT & FRONT PADS PUT ON BEFORE MY PURCHASE. TOOK TO HONDA TO GET SERVICED ON 7/18/2012 AT 118,647 MILES & TOLD THEM IT STILL FELT A LITTLE SOFT WITH THE PEDAL GOING LOWER THAN NORMAL. THEY CHECKED IT OUT IN SERVICE & PUT NEW ROTORS & PADS ON THE REAR. WE TOOK IT ON A TRIP TO FLORIDA & THE BRAKES FELT GOOD. SEEMS BETTER NOW HOWEVER IT'S BEGINNING TO FEEL A LITTLE SOFT AGAIN BUT APPEARS TO BE BRAKING OK. I TOLD [XXX] IN SERVICE AT HONDA & I TOLD HIM I WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE ONCOMING MILES. HE SAID OK. THANKS! I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 CHILDREN AND APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. I PRESSED MY BRAKES, AND THEY COMPLETELY FROZE. I COULD NOT PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN. IT WAS LIKE STEPPING ON A BRICK. IT WOULD NOT MOVE DOWN AT ALL. I WAS SLAMMING MY FOOT DOWN ON THE PETAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS GOING SLOW AT THE TIME, AFTER SLAMMING THE BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES, THE PEDAL SEEMED TO RAISE A BIT AND I WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT DOWN. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 5 DIFFERENT TIMES. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP THE SAME DAY IT INITIALLY HAPPENED AND THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AND TOOK IT TO OUR HONDA DEALER. (BURNS HONDA), THEY SAID IT FELL INTO A RECALL AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME THERE WERE TWO CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MY CAR IS BACK AT THE HONDA DEALER WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO ONCE AGAIN "RE-CREATE" THE PROBLEM. I FEEL MY CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A HONDA ODYSSEY 2006 EX-L, I HAVE RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED IT AND HAVE USED HONDA FILTERS, OILS AND LUBRICANTS, HAVE DONE OIL CHANGES EVERY 7,500 PER HONDA MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND REPLACED TRANNY FLUID EVERY 15,000 MILES, ESPECIALLY AFTER KNOWING THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH PREVIOUS ODYSSEY'S AND CURRENT ONES. AT 52,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT (KNOWN ISSUE THAT HONDA WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE) THANKFULLY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERED IT. AT 90,700 (MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 85,200 MILES) MY TRANSMISSION STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE (I HAVE HAD 2 INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND A HONDA DEALERSHIP VERIFY THE TRANNY IS GOING SOUTH). IN ADDITION TO THE MOTOR MOUNT AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD RECALLS TO REPLACE FRONT BRAKE PADS, BRAKE MASTER "O" RING, POWER STEERING PUMP AND PAINT PEELING. FOR A $33K VEHICLE, IT SURE IS A LEMON. *TR

2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PERSONAL MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THE DEALER ONLY LOOKED ON THE INSIDE OF TIRES AND DIDN'T REMOVE THE TIRES TO LOOK MORE IN DEPTH TO CHECK THE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE BRAKES WERE RUBBING THE ROTORS, SO HE REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND POLISHED THE ROTORS. *JB
2006 ODYSSEY WITH 55,000 MI WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR POWER BRAKE MODULE REPLACEMENT RECALL CAMPAIGN. WHEN VEHICLE WAS RETURNED, BRAKES WERE MUSHY AND SOFT. ADDITIONAL STOPPING DISTANCE WAS REQUIRED TO STOP VAN SAFELY. DANGEROUS BRAKING CONDITION EXISTED. CAN NOT BELIEVE DEALER RETURNED VEHICLE IN THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION! WHEN VAN WAS RETURNED TO DEALER THEY SAID VAN HAD BEEN ROAD TESTED PRIOR TO CUSTOMER PICK UP AND THAT IT WAS FINE THEN. NOT POSSIBLE!
