NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2007 Honda Odyssey. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was 147,279. It was later discovered that the mileage was 138,556. However, based on a Carfax report the actual mileage was 176,401.
I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) Driver sliding door doesn't work 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (Doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop Those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) A bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) The brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) The radio did not work and gave an "Error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. I am surprised they passed it. [XXX] This vehicle is STILL FOR SALE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The recall on the fuel leak system was never taken care of before we purchased the vehicle from a private owner. We purchased the vehicle in 2018, four years after the recall. This year, we have noticed quite the issue with our vehicle. It's been a huge issue since beginning 2024. We can't allow this to continue.

The contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 194,000.
Ran a code tester and everything from recalls are popping up
The passenger side back door kept forcing itself back open and/or closed. Depending whether we were trying to open or close the door. When it would force itself shut it has almost shut my head in the door. The door opened and then didn't stop and completely fell off the track and fell off. The door has always made an awful grinding sound when opening and closing.
Engine mounts need to be replaced and this is a known issue that Honda has not recognized to take care of the issue. The issue is caused by the vehicle going in and out of ECO mode. This causes wear on the motor mounts which now creates a safety hazard of the engine vibrating and causing more issues. Honda should be replacing these as a recall.
We drove the Honda Odyssey 2007 to a nearby swimming pool and opened the driver side sliding door. The door resisted opening and fell off onto the ground. Nobody was hurt but someone was almost hurt. The door had made grinding noises and was difficult to open for about a week before the incident happened.
Problem is the bolt that holds serpentine belt tensioner on has broken on twice in the last year. Why I am reporting this because the last time it broke I almost had a head on collision on 2 lane road belt broke as I was going around turn lost control of my steering barley missing the on coming vehicle and ditch on opposite side of rode. Ps this must have happen before I bought the vehicle because the bolt I removed that broke off was numeber 12 strength which could not find on internet to replace the bolt honda uses is a #10 strength.
Left sliding door lock will not unlock which causes the fuel door not to open
Brakes locked up and broke off stud and pads
Sliding doors fell off won't go back on
VSA light and ABS came on and all power lost while driving down road in heavy traffic.
This 2007 Honda Odyssey ex-l 3.5 l engine blue up its head gaskets and barely has 167715 miles on it. Other vehicles of the same type with over 300.000 miles are still on the road.. !!
When closing the drivers sliding door the door fell off both hinges completely, crashing to the ground.
Recall no. 14V112000 Recall no. 13V500000 I’m having problem with Rough fuel system and electric system problem honda refuse to repair these problems
The contact owns a Dorel Maxi Cosi Pria 85 Car seat, model number CC213-EMJ, DOM 4/29/2019. Power sliding doors on EXL model becomes slightly ajar/open after the door is closed and the power to the sliding doors is off. Furthermore, door slid open while the vehicle is moving (happened 3 times over the years) with our family dog falling out of the car in the most recent situation. (In the other two times, door slid open next to my kids who were buckled in and thus were not harmed). Please note that for the Honda Odyssey, all doors are automatically locked when the transmission is shifted out of PARK. Thus the door should not open on its own especially while the vehicle is moving. Dealership cannot replicate the problem and wants to replace the door latches which have previously been replaced (when the first two incidents happened). Even with this repair, they cannot guarantee that the door will not slide open while the vehicle is moving.
I was parked at Walmart and got groceries came out opened my sliding door and it fell off the hinges due to bad hardware says it will cost 2500 to fix wtf. Then a month later the other fell off also why when there are so many other reports of this happening is there not a recall already or at least an investigation. I mean come on you don't even have an option for reporting sliding door falling off
PEDAL IS VERY SOFT. REQUIRES HALF PEDAL OR MORE TO STOP. FIRMS UP IF PEDAL IS PUMPED. INCREASING STOPPING DISTSNCES & UNABLE TO GUAGE SAFE STOPPING DISTSNCES. MOST NOTICED AT CITY SPEEDS & EXITING THE HIGHWAY.
TIRES PRURCHASED FROM WALMART 10/6/18 WERE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY AND THEY CHANGED THE MANUFACTURES CALIBRATION. THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON, I RETURNED THE VAN TO WALMART; THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM AND I MADE FIVE VISITS. THE MANAGER DID NOT KNOW WHAT A TPMS SENSOR WAS; DID NOT HAVE ANY IN THE SHOP. I FREQUENTLY HAD THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRE CHECKS. TWO WEEKS AGO, DRIVING THE VAN THE TIRES SEEMED TO BE WOBBLY, I HAD THE AIR PRESSURE CHECKED AGAIN AND AGAIN. ON APRIL 15, 2021, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH WALMART AT THE MAIN OFFICE AND TOOK THE SUV TO THE HAMMOND, INDIANA CAR CENTER. AFTER HAGGLING WITH THE STAFF FO OVER 4 HOURS, THEY REPLACED THE TWO TIRE. THE PROBLEM OF THE WOBBLING TIRES HAD NOT BEEN SOLVED. ONLY THE WOBBLING WAS LESS NOTICEABLE. I MADE OVER 20 TELEPHONE CALLS TO THE CAR CENTER WITHOUT THE PHONE BEING ANSWERED. TODAY I FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH WALMART HEADQUARTERS.MARTHA, THE PERSON THAT TOOK THE COMPLAINT STATED THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED BY THE CAR CENTER. THIS CENTER SHOULD BE CLOSED; LIVES ARE AT STACK AND THE WORKERS ARE RUDE AND ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE TREAD ACT. I NEVER EXPERIENCED THE TPMS COMING ON UNTIL WALMART REPLACED MY TIRES. MY MECHANIC DRIVE THE SUV AND HIS OBSERVATION WAS "THE FRONT TIRES ARE OUT OF ROUND BY 1/4 INCH AND INNER SIDE WALL BULGING". HIS FIRST OBSERVATION WAS IN OCTOBER 2018, SHORTLY AFTER WALMART INSTALLED THE TIRES. ON 4/15/21, I CONTACTED GOODYEAR AND THEY GAVE NO INFORMATION ON TPMS . I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS SUV AD I BELIEVE THAT WALMART IS VIOLATING THE TREAD ACT. THEY RELUCTANTLY REPLACED THE TIRES, BUT EVEN WORSE THE TPMS LIGHT IS STILL ON. THERE WERE NO NOTIFICATIONS POSTED ON THE WALLS IN THAT CAR CENTER. IN ADDITION, MY SON RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES FOR HIS SUV FROM THIS SAME WALMART HE WAS NOT GIVEN ANY INFORMATION ABOUT TPMS SENSORS AND NONE WERE INSTALLED.
Right passenger door feel off hinge and hung. I had to catch the door since I was by myself. Yes issue was confirmed with dealer. No inspection from insurance or police. No indications of failure of door, automatic door function was not work so manual function was engaged.
MY VSA LIGHT WONT GO OFF AND NOW MY BRAKE LIGHT IS ON ALSO IM SCARED MY VAN IS GOING TO BRAKE OR STOP WORKING PROPERLY.
I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY PARKED WHEN MY PASSENGER SIDE BACK SLIDING DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE SO I TURNED OFF THE ELECTRIC FOR THE SLIDING DOORS AND TRIED TO CLOSE IT MANUALLY AND IT WOULDN'T BUDGE THEN IT JUST FEEL OFF TRACK CLEARLY THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THIS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THIS HAPPENED. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND BETTER PARTS NEED TO BE MADE.
Paint chipping and peeling and fading
THE RED AIR BAG NOT WORKING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING WILL USUALLY RESET IF I TURN OFF THE VEHICLE BUT DOES COME BACK ON AFTER A FEW MILES.
TWO SEPARATE INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED, BOTH AT SLOW SPEEDS, AROUND 5 MPH, MY VAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, AND AFTER PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUNCHING THE PEDAL DOWN, IT RETURNED TO NORMAL RPMS. A LITTLE UNSETTLING, ESPECIALLY IF THE DRIVER PANICS.
MY CAR IS A 2007 ODYSEEY AND SEATBELT LIGHT IS ON CONSTANT AND WILL NOT GO OFF,I GUESS MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN TAKATA SEATBELT RECALL AND NOW DEALER WANTS A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX EVEN THOUGH IT'S A SAFETY RECALL BUT NOT ON MY VIN NUMBER AND HAS NOT COME UP ON MY VEHICLE YET. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE SECOND REAR PASSENGER SEAT DISENGAGED AS THE PASSENGER WENT FORWARD COLLIDING WITH THE REAR OF THE FRONT SEAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A BLOODY NOSE WHICH REQUIRED NO MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V9333000 (SEATS) AND 18V170000 (SEATS), HOWEVER HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,500.
Most times when I press on the brake and shift into drive or reverse, the dash will register a flashing D3. I have no idea what this is but I do know that the stopping is more responsive at this time. Also, I will go to start the vehicle but it doesn't start. Interior lights and dash would be working but no way to turn over. If I engage my brake and jiggle the shifter, it will do something that finally allows me to start it. This had left me stranded more times I would like but finally a helpful citizen showed me how to jiggle the shifter to get it to engage. I shouldn't have to do this at least once a week.
My power sliding door pulls shut but then pops out enough to register that the door is open. Pulling on the door does not pull away from the body when it is physically pulled. The power door button on the dash and the key fob do not work for that same door. I have tried shutting off and turning on the switch with no response. I'm afraid that the door will slide open while driving.
PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF. 11-02-2020 IN A PARKING LOT AWAY FROM HOME. AND NOW WONT SLIDE BACK WHEN TRYING TO OPEN TO REPLACE CHEAP MADE ROLLES AND THIN CABLE IS CHEAP. SOME THINGS ARE WORTH THE EXTRA FEW DOLLARS TO BE GUARANTEED QUALITY PARTS. COMR ON KIA EVEN DONE BETTER IN THEIR BEGINNING. I WILL BUY KIA NEXT TIME TOO.

THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR CAME UNHINGED AND FELL OFF WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE THE DOOR
WHEN MY WIFE WAS TURNING 90 DEGREES INTO A PARKING STALL AT 5 MPH, THE VAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT SUCH A RATE THAT THE VAN SMASHED INTO A BRICK WALL IN FRONT OF THE STALL. IT HIT WITH ENOUGH IMPACT THAT IT MADE A LOUD ENOUGH NOISE THAT OTHER PARKED DRIVERS LOOKED OVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND MY VAN HAS VISIBLE SCRAPES ON THE FRONT FROM THE IMPACT
THE VSA LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND FUEL LIGHT HERE AND THERE KEEPS COMING ON I JUST HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 4 YEARS ALREADY I JUST HAD THE ENGINE OIL LEAK FIXED I CHANGED OIL EVERY 6 MONTHS. ALSO HAD THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER CHANGED AS WELL AS BATTERY REPLACED. IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY THE SOFTWARE ON THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE UPDATED?
THE VSA WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON ALONG WITH AN EXCLAMATION SIGN. IT PREVENTS ACCELERATION AND CAUSES TEMPORARY LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, PREVENTS USE OF CRUISE CONTROL. IT TEMPORARILY RESETS WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF BUT THEN TURNS ON AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS HIGHWAYS.
Paint is peeling off. When I touch the paint, it peels and flakes off. I can't even wash certain areas of it now because when I spray the water hose at it, the paint flakes off.
THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON

THE TAILGATE SUDDENLY STOPPED STAYING UP. I HAVE SEEN A RECALL ON 2008 AND 2009 ODYSSEYS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE STRUTS THAT HOLD THE GATE UP.
I PURCHASED THIS USED CAR IN MARCH 2020. THE ISSUE I AM HAVING IS WITH THE BRAKES. THE CAR REQUIRE A MORE THAN USUAL PEDAL PRESSURE FOR THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING IN HIGH SPEED. I HAVE ALSO RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF HONDA ODESSEY OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT SAME ISSUE.
MY DAUGHTER & HER FRIEND WERE IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT. THE FRIEND WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. UPON IMPACT, THE SEAT BELT MECHANISM APPARENTLY BROKE AND DID NOT KEEP THE PASSENGER FROM BEING THRUST FORWARD & HAVING IMPACT WITH THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN A CONCUSSION.
