WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, A ROCK HIT MY A/C CONDENSER. A REPLACEMENT CONDENSER COSTS $700-1,000. PLEASE ASK HONDA TO INVENT SOME SORT OF CONDENSER GUARD TO PROTECT IT FROM ROAD DEBRIS. MY FATHER HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 TAIL GATE STRUT PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN OBSERVED OVER THE NET THAT THE HONDA ODYSSEY TAIL GATE GAS LIFT DIES AFTER ABOUT 32,000 TO 39,000 MILES. OUR DIED AT 42,000 MILES. CAN YOU PLEASE KEEP RECORD FOR THIS COMPLAINT AND SEE IF THIS HELPS TO MAKE SURE THAT MANUFACTURE CAN PROVIDE SOME BETTER PARTS. THANKS!!! *TR
BRAKES FAILED CAUSING A CRASH. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2007 AND HAVE NOTICED SPONGY, SOFT, HARD TO STOP BRAKES FROM THE BEGINNING. DEALERSHIPS, WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO MORE THAN ONE, ALWAYS SAY IT'S FINE, NO FAILURE, NO PROBLEM CAN BE REPEATED. WE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED JUST IN CASE AND HAVE HAD BOTH RECALL JOBS FIXED, ONE JUST LAST WEEK. THIS WEEK CARS STOPPED SHORT IN FRONT OF MY HUSBAND WHILE HE WAS DRIVING, HE COULD NOT STOP, TRIED TO SLAM BRAKES AND THE VAN WOULD NOT STOP, HE PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING. HE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM. WE HAVE HAD A FEW PROBLEMS WITH TRYING TO STOP SHORT IN THE PAST BUT HAVE AVOIDED A CRASH BEFORE. A RECALL IS JUST NOT ENOUGH, IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM FOR OUR VAN. ALSO THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
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
THERE HAS BEEN A NUMBER OF RECALLS ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. BUT, THERE CONTINUES TO BE AIR INTRODUCED INTO THE SYSTEM CAUSING A SOFT PEDAL. THIS LEADS TO REDUCED BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS.
THE STABILUS STAY ASSEMBLE TAILGATE OPEN NUM 74820-SJU-A012 FAILED AND LET THE TAILGATE DOOR FALL. IT ALMOST HIT ME ON THE HEAD. SINCE THEN IT FAILS TO HOLD THE TAILGATE DOOR OPEN ON THE HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L .2007. *TR
DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY IN MY HONDA ODYSSEY AND THE FRONT AND REAR LEFT WHEEL BEARING STARTED TO MAKE HUMMING NOISE TO THE POINT THAT IT WAS TOO LOUD TO DRIVE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVANS ARE KNOWN FOR THE BEARING PROBLEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY MATTER THAT NHTSA SHOULD KNOW ABOUT. *TR
THE FILTER IN POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR CLOGGED. THIS CAUSED THE POWER STEERING FLUID TO AERATE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE AERATED FLUID WILL CAUSE THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO FAIL, LOSING POWER STEERING.
MY 2007 ODYSSEY WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER AT 35,000 MILES FOR A PROBLEM WITH A CLICKING NOISE AND STEERING ISSUE AT LOW SPEEDS. THE DEALER ATTRIBUTED THE PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING TO A POWER STEERING SERVICE BULLETIN AND THE CLICKING WASN'T EVIDENT OUT OF THE ORDINARY. AS THE STEERING SEEMED TO BE BETTER, AND THE CLICKING WAS 'NORMAL" I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND DROVE IT LIKE IT WAS FOR MANY MORE MILES, UNTIL THE CLICKING NOISE AT AROUND 68000 MILES SEEMED REALLY LOUDER AND MORE PRONOUNCED. THE DEALER NOW ATTRIBUTED THE NOISE TO A FAULTY AXLE AND REPLACED IT AT A COST TO ME OF AROUND $200.00 (1/2 PRICE). NOW, ABOUT 5000 MILES LATER, THE STEERING IS EXTREMELY BAD AT LOW SPEED AND NOW THE DEALER TELLS ME THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEEKING AND THE COST TO REPAIR IS NEARLY $1500.00. THIS ISSUE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM AS IT HAS BEEN NOTICIBLE ON MINE AND OTHER PEOPLE'S VEHICLES WHICH IS EVIDENT BY THE COMPLAINTS ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE MINE. HONDA SHOULD RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR A FAULTY POWER STEERING PUMP AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER OPERATED REAR LIFTGATE WOULD CLOSE INDEPENDENTLY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
POWER STEERING VERY STIFF BOTH STATIONARY AND WHILE IN MOTION, ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH FAULTY MODULATOR *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON FEBRUARY 9, 2011 HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE VSA LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THEY DETERMINED THE VSA MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1221.00 PLUS TAX. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VSA MODULATOR WAS REPLACED PREVIOUSLY UNDER RECALL. *JB
OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY LIFTGATE GAS STRUTS BOTH FAILED WITH NO WARNING ON MARCH 1, 2011. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT SLAMMED DOWN AND COULD HAVE HURT SOMEONE. SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH ODYSSEYS MADE IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. I HAVE HAD OTHER VEHICLES WITH LIFTGATES AND NONE HAVE FAILED. HONDA SHOULD FIX THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
POWER STEERING PUMP FAILING ON 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY 50,000 MILES. HAVE DONE SOME INTERNET RESEARCH AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS MEMORY STEER, AFTER MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THE CAR PULL DRAMATICALLY TO THE LEFT, THIS COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAD HONDA DEALER ALIGN, SAID THE VAN IS IN ALL OF HONDA'S SPECS AND ALL FRONT COMPONENTS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. THIS IS A FAMILY CAR AND I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING IT. I UNDERSTAND THAT ALL CARS HAVE THERE ISSUES BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THE SAFETY OF THE OCCUPANTS OR THE PUBLIC SHARING THE ROAD THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLED. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS FOUND ONLINE (EX. EDMUNDS.COM TOWN HALL), IT SEEMS HONDA IS IGNORING THIS ISSUE AND NOT TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE POSSIBLE HARM THAT CAN BE CAUSED. *TR
SOFT BRAKE PEDAL IN HONDA ODYSSEY. I AM HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THE VAN. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL APPOINTMENT AND DONE ALL THE RECALL BY HONDA BUT STILL MY PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. EVERY TIME I GO TO DEALER THEY TELL ME EVERYTHING IS OK AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW WHAT SHOULD BE DONE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,700 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
WE FIRST BECAME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH OUR ODYSSEY WHEN THE LOW-SPEED STEERING (E.G. NAVIGATING PARKING SPACES) BECAME VERY DIFFICULT, AS IF THE POWER STEERING WERE OFF. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY CLEANED THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AS PER A SERVICE BULLETIN. ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER WE NOTICED THAT AFTER DRIVING THE VAN FOR AT LEAST APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES, THE POWER STEERING PUMP MADE AN AUDIBLE HUM OR WHIRRING THAT COULD BE HEARD AT LOW SPEEDS. THE NOISE WOULD CHANGE PITCH ALONG WITH THE ENGINE. SOMETIMES, THE LOW-SPEED STEERING WOULD AGAIN BE DIFFICULT, BUT NOT TO THE SAME EXTREME AS BEFORE AND FAR LESS OFTEN. WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY REPORTED THAT A SEAL WAS BROKEN IN THE STEERING RACK AND THAT THE PUMP ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE TOLD THAT NOT REPLACING BOTH THESE ITEMS, AT A COST OF $2500.00, COULD LEAD TO POWER STEERING LOSS AND CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. SO WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE THESE ITEMS EVEN THOUGH THE VAN ONLY HAD 50,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST BECAME NOTICEABLE. *TR
AIR CONDITIONING UNIT STOPPED WORKING.VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR A SERVICE WAS TOLD THAT A ROCK WENT THROUGH A CONDENSER WHICH IS PLACED UNPROTECTED UNDER THE RADIATOR. POOR DESIGN PLACEMENT WILL NOT BE COVERED BY MANUFACTURES WARRANTY. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES TO EXPRESS DISCONTENT WITH AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY REGARDING DISPUTE OVER BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE ENCOUNTERED CONSTANT ISSUES WITH A SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER BLED THE BRAKES AND PRONOUNCED THE PROBLEM AS SOLVED. HOWEVER, HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIRS MADE ON HIS VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A DENIAL LETTER FROM HONDA STATING THE INFORMATION THAT WAS SUBMITTED DID NOT SUPPORT THE DEFECT RELATED TO THE RECALL. *JB
CONSUMER STATES ONGOING PROBLEM/DEFECT WITH A HONDA ODYSSEY CONCERNING FRONT WHEELS WOBBLING AND VEHICLE JERKING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE WOBBLE FROM THE FRONT WHEELS WAS MOST NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEED TURNS. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE HIT THE SLIGHTEST BUMP, THE WOBBLE COULD BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER TURNING A CORNER, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS RELEASED, THE STEERING WHEEL RETURNED TO STRAIGHT FORWARD WITH A SERIES OF JERKS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. THE SERVICE WRITER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS A WEAKNESS IN THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND THE MASTER CYLINDER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER LEARNED OF A RECALL, BUT RECORDS SHOWED IT WAS NEVER REPLACED. ON MAY 21, 2010, THE MODULATOR AND SEALING CAPS WERE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 19, 2011, THE DEALER INSTALLED A MASTER CYLINDER REPAIR KIT. THE REMEDIES SHOWED LITTLE TO NO IMPROVEMENT. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER NOT USING THE BRAKES FOR A FEW MILES, HE WOULD HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES, IN ORDER TO STOP, BECAUSE THE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR. *JB
WE HAVE A RADIAN XTSL CHILD SAFETY SEAT FOR OUR CHILD. IT IS INSTALLED IN THE SECOND ROW CAPTAIN'S CHAIR OF OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE SEAT IS TIGHTENED APPROPRIATELY AND INSTALLED CORRECTLY. THE LATCH BELT LOOSENS ITSELF IN DAILY USE. WE HAVE NOTICED IT A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT TIMES AND NOW CHECK IT ROUTINELY. IT ALWAYS LOOSENS. TODAY I REMOVED THE THE LATCH STRAP AND INSTALLED WITH THE SEATBELT. (RELATED VEHICLE INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR=2007, MAKE=HONDA, MODEL=ODYSSEY). *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE RELATING TO FAULTY VSA SYSTEM IN HONDA ODYSSEYS. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED AS A RESULT OF A SINGLE DRIVER ACCIDENT THAT OCCURED ON CT-15 MERRIT PARKWAY IN JANUARY 2011. IT SNOWED THAT DAY IN CONNECTICUT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SNOW ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND AT A PARTICULAR TURN, THE VEHICLE SKIDDED (NO BREAK WAS APPLIED), AND AFTER TRYING TO CONTROL THROUGH TURNING THE STEERING HIT THE ROAD DIVIDER BARRICADES FACING FORWARD AND THEN SIDEWAYS RESULTING INTO DAMAGE TO RADIATOR SYSTEM AND ACTIVATING ALL AIR BAGS. I SPOKE WITH HONDA REPRESENTATIVE TODAY WHO ADVISES THAT THEY CANNOT ASSIST ME FURTHER BECAUSE VEHICLE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION AND THEY CANNOT THEREFORE CONFIRM OR DENY WHETHER THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED DUE TO THIS MATTER. MY REQUEST TO SPEAK TO THE SUPERVISOR WAS DECLINED. I DO NOT FEEL THAT MY CONCERNS WERE ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED. *JS
RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, AND THE BRAKES DON'T WORK WELL. THE PEDAL IS VERY SOFT AND NOT VERY RESPONSIVE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR THAT STOPPED SO POORLY. IT TAKES TWICE THE EFFORT OF MY OTHER CAR TO GET THE VAN STOPPED. NOT A VERY SAFE FEELING AT ALL. SO FAR NO INCIDENTS BUT IN AN EMERGENCY I COULD SEE A FUTURE PROBLEM DEVELOPING. I DID HAVE THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOK AT THE BRAKES AND THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE, NO AIR IN THE LINES. BOTH MY WIFE AND I AGREE THE BRAKES ARE REALLY BAD. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER REGARDING THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RESERVOIR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS NOT HAD THE POWER STEER PUMP NOR THE RESERVOIR REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,298. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ILLUMINATES ON DASH. THIS HAPPENS SPORATICALLY. USUALLY WHEN SOMEONE MOVES AROUND IN THE PASSENGER SEAT (LIKE MY GRANDCHILDREN).. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR IMPACTED HER ON THE TOP OF HER HEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
PAINT CHIPPED ON THE OUTSIDE THE SIZE OF A DINNER PLATE ON THE ROOF ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD. NO REASON. *TR

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MET SPECIFICATIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000. WE BOUGHT A USED 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L FROM A DEALERSHIP, AND NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BE SPONGY. THE VAN STOPS SLOWER THAN OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD UNDER NORMAL FOLLOWING DISTANCE, AND CREATES A HAZARDOUS SITUATION EVERY TIME SOMEONE IN FRONT MAKES A HARD BRAKING AND WAITS FOR LEFT TURN AT THE LAST MINUTE. ONCE I OVERSHOT A STOP SIGN BEFORE MAIN ROAD BUT FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS. I FOUND HONDA TSB 07-045 AND BROUGHT THE VAN TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP TODAY, BUT THEY SAID THAT IT IS A HEAVY VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE BEHAVIOR IS NORMAL. PLEASE RAISE HONDA'S AWARENESS BEFORE SEVERE ACCIDENTS AND BAD PR HAPPEN. *TR
AFTER INSTALLING NEW SET OF 4 TIRES FOR MY HONDA ODYSSEY AND HAVE THE TIRES BALANCE AND ALIGN BY PROFESSIONAL GOODYEARS SERVICE MECHANICS. I CAN FEEL THE MINI VAN KEEP PULLING TO THE LEFT PRETTY FAST AND DANGEROUSLY. I TALK TO THE WHEEL SHOPS MANAGER, AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS FINE. AFTER LOOKING AT THIS ISSUES ONLINE, I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO OWN 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AND TURN OUT TO BE ISSUES WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED SPRING AND STRUT THAT NEED TO BE ALIGNED AND FIXED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE AND SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY AND POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2007 ODYSSEY WITH SOFT BRAKES. THE RECALL FIX WAS DONE IN SUMMER 2010. ABOUT LATE NOVEMBER 2010 EARLY DECEMBER 2010, I NOTICED THE BRAKES FELT SOFT AGAIN. ON 12/13/2010, I TOOK CAR INTO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR A ROTATION/OIL CHANGE AND TO CHECK THE BRAKES. AGAIN, THERE WAS AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE. THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN THAT THE RECALL SOLUTION WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX. SUPPOSEDLY IT WAS FIXED THIS TIME. I DROVE IT HOME, ABOUT 6 MILES, AND PARKED IT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. MY WIFE GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND DROVE ABOUT 1 MILE WHEN SHE CALLED SAYING THE BRAKES WERE RANDOMLY GOING FROM REALLY SOFT TO HER NOT BEING ABLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AN INCH. SHE IMMEDIATELY PARKED THE CAR AND WAS SCARED TO DEATH. ULTIMATELY, WE HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE SAME HONDA DEALERSHIP. PRIOR TO THE TOW, THE VSA LIGHT AND VSA INDICATOR STAYED ON AND THEN WENT OFF. ALL THIS INFO WAS PROVIDED TO "MIKE" AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP...IMMEDIATELY...AND I MEAN IMMEDIATELY...HONDA AGREED TO PAY THE TOW, FIX THE PROBLEM AND PROVIDE ME A RENTAL. THE CAR IS TO BE FIXED ON 12/14/2010. THIS IS NOT GOOD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH, THE BRAKES ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE INITIAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,769 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WOULD SELF-ACTIVATE RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULD COME TO A STOP OR NEAR STOP; ONLY THEN WOULD THE BRAKES RELEASE. WHEN THE BRAKES LOCKED UP, IT CAUSED THE TIRES TO DRAG AS THEY WERE BEING FORCED TO ROLL. UNTIL THE CONSUMER COULD GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO STOP. ALSO, THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS WERE GENERATING HEAT.
THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER INTERMITTENLY FAILS TO OPEN OR CLOSE. THIS OCCURS WHEN USING THE REMOTE, DRIVER BUTTONS, OR THE DOOR HANDLES (INTERIOR & EXTERIOR). IT APPEARS TO JUMP OFF THE TRACK. WE HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT BY A HONDA DEALER NO LESS THAN 3 TIMES. I KNOW OF TWO OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2007 ODYSSEY. *TT
THE VEHICLE IS BURNING 1 QUART OF OIL IN BETWEEN 600 AND 800 MILES. I NOW CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 3000 MILES. THE COMPUTER STILL SHOWS THAT I HAVE UPWARDS OF 40% OF THE OIL LIFE REMAINING WHEN CHANGING THE OIL.MY MECHANIC(NOT HONDA DEALERSHIP) HAS TRIED CONTACTING HONDA BUT GETS NO SOLUTION. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING DEALER BUT THEY SAY THAT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 600 MILES IS NORMAL. CAR STALLS OUT WHEN UNDER 2 QUARTS OF OIL. HONDA RECALLED YEARS AFTER MY ODYSSEY WITH SAME ISSUE BUT HAS NOT RECALLED MY YEAR. SAME ENGINE AND COMPUTER, SAME PROBLEM. *TR

BRAKE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY EVEN DEALER HAS BEEN CHANGED ABS MODULE TWICE. THE LAST TIME IN SERVICE TO SEAL THE AIR LEAKED INTO ABS MODULE AS RECALL BUT IT WON'T HELP. BRAKE IS STILL SOFT AND NOT STOP AS DRIVER DESIRED. THIS VAN HAS BEEN IN 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND 5TH IN JOHN EAGLE HONDA IN HOUSTON TX. DEALER COULDN'T FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
BRAKES ACTIVATING ON THEIR OWN. IN EARLY 2010 (AROUND FEBRUARY/MARCH), THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED FOR THE FIRST TIME. MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING WITH OUR THREE KIDS AND THE BRAKES ACTIVATED WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH. SHE PULLED OVER TO A GAS STATION. I WAS ABOUT 1 MILE BEHIND HER IN MY VEHICLE AND SHE CALLED TO LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I PULLED OVER AT THE GAS STATION AND HAD MY WIFE AND KIDS SWITCH CARS WITH ME. MY WIFE NEVER TURNED THE ENGINE OFF WHEN SHE STOPPED. I CONTINUED DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO ACTIVATE 3 OR 4 MORE TIMES AS A DROVE THE VAN TO THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALER (ONLY ABOUT 2 MILES FROM WHERE THE INCIDENT FIRST OCCURRED). MANY MONTHS HAVE GONE BY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON 11/8/2010 AND 11/16/2010. ON THE 11/8/2010 INCIDENT, THE BRAKES ACTIVATED AND THE VSA INDICATOR FLICKERED AND THEN STAYED ON. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VAN HOME. I DROVE THE VAN TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY - NO INCIDENT. THE DEALER REPORTED 8 CODES INDICATED WHEN HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER, BUT ALL CHECKED OUT OK. HAPPENED AGAIN ON 11/16 AND NO VSA LIGHT - DEALER INDICATED NO CODES INDICATED WHEN HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER. DEALER HAS HAD THE VAN SINCE 11/16/2010 - WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. THE DEALER SAYS NO PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR

2007 HONDA ODYSSEY: CAR CONTINUALLY PULLS TO THE LEFT DURING ALL SPEEDS. CORRECTS ITSELF AFTER STEERING HARD RIGHT (DRIVES STRAIGHT). WHEN I THEN TURN LEFT, CAR RETAINS "MEMORY STEER" AND CONTINUES TO PULL TO THE LEFT. HAD CAR INTO HONDA SERVICE FIVE TIMES. CHANGED A TIRE, DID ALIGNMENT, THEY NEVER NOTICED PULL, ETC. TIRED OF REPEAT VISITS TO HONDA WITHOUT RESULTS. MANY OTHER PUBLISHED COMPLAINTS WITH SIMILAR ISSUE BY OTHERS. *TR
THE ALTERNATOR FROZE UP CAUSING THE BELT TO SLIP AND GENERATE HEAT. A BURNING SMELL WAS THE FIRST DETECTION OF A PROBLEM. THE ALTERNATOR LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH. AS A PRECAUTION, THE CAR WAS RETURNED HOME. THE PLASTIC CASING ON THE ALTERNATOR CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITH WATER IMMEDIATELY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND RESPONDED TO CONFIRM THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. THE PART WAS REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL FOR THE BRAKES (RECALL 10V504000: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: FOUNDATION COMPONENTS: MASTER CYLINDER). AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALER AND THEY DID INSPECT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,500 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,500.
WHILE ACCELERATING ABOUT 45 MPH, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON WHILE FOOT WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR CAME TO A DEAD STOP THEN STARTED GOING AGAIN. THERE WAS NO TIME TO REACT AND THINGS FLEW FORWARD IN THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES.

ON MY DAUGHTERS 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC UP FEATURE FOR THE DRIVERS WINDOW. ONCE THE WINDOW STARTS UP (CLOSING), IF YOU PUT DOWN PRESSURE ON THE WINDOW IT WILL REVERSE, DO DOWN A FEW INCHES AND STOP. BUT IF YOU PUT PRESSURE ON THE WINDOW, LIKE A CHILD LEANING OUT THE WINDOW, AND IT STARTS UP THE OVERRIDE FEATURE WILL NOT STOP THE WINDOW AND MAKE IT GO DOWN A FEW INCHES. THE WINDOW WILL CONTINUE TO CLOSE, ONLY STOPPING WHEN THE MOTOR IS OVERPOWERED. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN UNTIL QUITE A BIT OF FORCE IS APPLIED TO WHATEVER IS BLOCKING THE WINDOW, AND IN THE CASE OF A SMALL CHILD IT COULD CAUSE QUITE A BIT OF INJURY. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED A VEHICLE WITH AN AUTO-UP FEATURE FOR A WINDOW. WITH THE AMOUNT OF FORCE IT TAKES TO OVERLOAD THE MOTOR A CHILD CAN BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
