VEHICLE WAS HARD TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS ALSO DURING COLD WEATHER WE HEAR A LOUD WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALER WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS BAD. THEY REPLACED THE PUMP AND TOLD US IF WE HEAR THE WHINING NOISE AGAIN IT IS PROBABLY THE POWER STEERING RESOVIOR WHICH WAS NOT REPLACED. THERE IS ALSO A POPPING SOUND IN THE STEERING WHICH THEY SAY IS THE RACK AND PINION AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. NOW THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE BUT BEFORE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED WE HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE POPPING NOISE BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. MAGICALLY NOW THEY HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM. WITH THEM NOW WANTING TO CHARGE $2000 TO FIX IT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 54000 MILES AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS MUCH TROUBLE. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE NEEDING THIS MUCH WORK THIS SOON. ALTHOUGH I DO LOVE MY VEHICLE I CAN HONESTLY SAY I AM HAVING DOUBTS OF EVER OWNING ANOTHER ONE. IF THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. *KB
I WAS DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL OFF AT A CONSTANT SPEED OF 45 MPH ON LEVEL GROUND. BRAKES SPONTANEOUSLY ACTIVATED WITH MODERATELY HARD FORCE, SLOWING CAR TO 30 MPH, THEN RELEASING. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, AND ALL FOUR WHEELS APPEARED TO BE INVOLVED. ENGINE RPM DID DECREASE DURING THIS EVENT. THE SPONTANEOUS BRAKING RECURRED TWICE WITHIN TWO MILES WITH THE SAME FAIRLY SPIRITED DECELERATION EXPERIENCED. THE VSA WAS SWITCHED TO THE OFF SETTING, AND NO OTHER EPISODES OF SPONTANEOUS BRAKING WERE NOTED FOR THE REMAINING ONE MILE OF THE JOURNEY. FUEL LEVEL AT 80%, CAR IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED. NO ABERRANT SOUNDS WERE GENERATED. UPDATED 03/09/12 *TR
ON 1/23/12 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE DRIVERS SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WITH REMOTE, IT WAS NOTED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE, SAID DOOR CLOSED ABOUT HALF-WAY AND THEN REOPENED. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO CLOSE ABOVE DOOR UNTIL IT FINALLY DID CLOSE. IT WAS ALSO NOTED AT THIS TIME THAT WHEN IT DID CLOSE IT MADE A THUMPING NOISE. "THUMP... THUMP... THUMP..." WHILE THE DOOR WAS CLOSING. IT SHOULD BE STATED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES THIS PAST WEEK, HOWEVER NOT ALL THE TIME. THE THUMPING NOISE WAS NOTED ALL THE TIME THOUGH, ONLY UPON CLOSING. ANNOYING, BUT NOT TERRIBLE. TONIGHT, 2/1/12, HOWEVER IS A DIFFERENT STORY. I OPENED THE ABOVE DOOR USING THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE, THE DOOR BEGAN TO OPEN. WHEN IT (SLIDING DOOR) WAS JUST ABOUT COMPLETELY OPEN (MORE THAN 3/4 OPEN BUT NOT FULLY), MY SIX YEAR-OLD SON ATTEMPTED TO CLIMB INTO THE VAN (SOMETHING HE HAS DONE BEFORE WITHOUT THERE EVER BEING A PROBLEM) WHEN THE DOOR BEGAN TO CLOSE ON ITS OWN! THANKFULLY, I WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL HIM OUT OF HARMS WAY AND STOP THE DOOR FROM CLOSING ON HIM. THE DOOR THEN OPENED, WHEN I PHYSICALLY STOPPED IT FROM CLOSING ON MY SON, AND THEN BEGAN TO CLOSE AGAIN AND THEN OPEN, TO WHERE IT STAYED. IT WAS THEN THAT I TURNED OFF THE POWER SLIDER AND CLOSED THE DOOR MANUALLY. I REALIZE NOWHERE ON THIS FORM DOES IT ASK FOR POTENTIAL INJURIES, HOWEVER THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEVASTATING. A NECESSARY COMPONENT (A DOOR) THAT ONE BELIEVES TO BE SAFE IS NOT ONLY UNRELIABLE BUT HAZARDOUS. *TR
I AM GETTING A THUD SOUND FROM THE BACK OF MY 2007 ODYSSEY MINI VAN. WE CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE COME IN WITH THIS. THEY FOUND THAT THERE IS A GLAZING THAT HAPPENS WITH THE BRAKES AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO GRIND THE DRUMS AND IT MAKES IT GO AWAY FOR AWHILE. THEY SAID IF THE BRAKE SHOES ARE OK IT WOULD RUN ABOUT $200.00. THIS IS CRAZY IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OTHER THAN WEAR AND TEAR THEY SHOULD FIX IT FOR FREE. I HAVE PUT TWO SETS OF BRAKES ON THIS VAN SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND I HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKES GO SO FAST. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE A VERY POOR DESIGN. IF I HAD NOT BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT 1000 OF DOLLARS WITH ALL THE PROBLEM THIS 2007 HONDA HAS HAD. IF I HAD IT TO DO OVER AGAIN I WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA. THE WINDSHIELD WHISTLES, THE TRANSMISSION PART HAD TO BE REPLACED, THE COMPRESSOR MELTED, THE BATTERY WENT DEAD ON A TRIP BEFORE A YEAR WAS UP. THE BEARINGS IN THE WHEELS WENT BAD. THE AXLE WENT BAD. THE RIGHT REAR DOOR MOTOR WENT BAD. THE LEFT REAR DOOR WILL OPEN PART WAY AND SHUT. ALL IN ALL HONDA HAS GONE DOWN HILL. $37,000 AND ITS A PIECE OF JUNK. THANK GOD OTHER THAN THE BRAKES THE DEALER HAS BEEN VERY VERY GOOD AND HAS FIXED EVERYTHING AT LEAST ONCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY DECELERATED TO 20 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SAFETY ASSIST SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V500000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
AFTER DRIVING APX. 50 MILES MOST OF THEM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS UPON EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND WAITING TO MAKE A TURN I HEARD A LOUD WHINING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT WAS DIFFICULT TO DO SO. THE NOISE CONTINUED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AT TIMES AS IF YOU HAD LOSS POWER ASSIT. I PARKED THE VAN AND CKECKED THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, LEVEL WAS GOOD, BUT IT LOOKED FOAMY. THE VAN SAT FOR APX. 3 HOURS I CHECKED THE FLUID AGAIN AND IT LOOKED NORMAL. AFTER STARTING THE VAN THE NOISE WAS NOT AS PRONOUNCED AND STEERING SEEMED OK, BUT AFTER MAKING THE 50 MILE RETURN TRIP HOME THE SAME PROBLEM RETURNED. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET I FIND THIS IS A PROBLEM HONDA IS AWARE OF SINCE THEY HAVE ISSUED AT LEAST TWO SERVICE BULLETINS 07-005 AND 10-076 TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. I WOULD THINK ANY PROBLEM THAT WOULD AFFECT THE STEERING OF A VEHICLE AT SLOW OR HIGH SPEED SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. YOU COULD LOOSE THE ABILITY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN AT EITHER SPEED OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT IS NOT AS IF THIS IS DUE TO POOR OR LACK OF MAINTANCE, OR HIGH MILAGE. THE PROBLEMS SEEM TO HAPPEN WAY BEFORE A VEHICLE OF THIS COST AND PRECEIVED QUALITY SHOULD START HAVING PROBLEMS, TO A SYSTEM THAT AFFECTS IT'S SAFE OPERATION. SOME HAVE OCCURED DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR MY VAN, BUT IT HAS BEEN SERVICED BY A HONDA DEALER SINCE NEW. I HOPE HUMAN LIFE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE LOST OR SERIOUS INJURY OCCUR BEFORE THIS ON GOING PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. HONDA KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM IF THEY WILL NOT DO THE RIGHT THING, THEN SOMEBODY NEEDS TO MAKE THEM, AND FIX THE POWER STEERING PUMPS. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 LIFTGATE NON-POWERED LIFT STRUTS FAILED INSTANTANEOUSLY. THIS CAUSED THE HEAVY LIFTGATE TO NO LONGER STAY ON THE OPEN/UP POSITION. HONDA (UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN) REPLACED BOTH STRUTS. WITHIN SEVERAL MONTHS, STRUTS AGAIN FAILED AND WERE REPLACED BY HONDA. ON 11/3/2013 THIS STRUTS AGAIN FAILED INSTANTANEOUSLY (USED WITHOUT PROBLEMS AROUND 2PM), FAILED AT 4:30PM. THIS IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS SINCE LAST REPLACEMENT FOR A MAJOR FUNCTIONALLY NECESSARY COMPONENT OF THE MINI-VAN. HONDA WAS CONTACTED AND CLAIMS THERE ARE NO KNOWN DEFECTS WITH THE STRUTS AND THAT THEY ARE "FAR" OUTSIDE THE REPLACEMENT WARRANTY WINDOW OF 12 MONTHS. IT WOULD SAME HONDA USES DEFECTIVE OR INFERIOR PARTS FOR THESE STRUTS. HONDA SUPPORT REP. TOLD ME THAT IF I FELT THE STRUTS WERE NOT HIGH QUALITY AND EFFECTIVE IN HOLDING THE LIFTGATE UP I SHOULD LOOK FOR 3RD PARTY MANUFACTURED STRUTS THAT FILLED MY NEEDS BETTER. VERY SURPRISED BY THIS RESPONSE THAT HONDA WOULD TELL ME TO GET "BETTER" PARTS OUTSIDE IF THEIR OWN LIFTGATE STRUTS ARE NOT UP TO THE JOB THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO FOR YEARS WITHOUT FAILURE. *TR
THE TAILGATE OF MY VAN, DIDN'T STAY OPEN. AS SOON AS I LEAVE MY HAND FROM IT, INSTEAD OF STAYING OPEN, IT JUST CAME DOWN AND CLOSED. I WAS NEARLY HURT..... I TALKED TO AMERICAN HONDA, AND THEY DIDN'T THINK THIS IS WORTHY OF RECALL. EVEN THOUGH, 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A SIMILAR DEFECT AND THEY HAVE ISSUED RECALL. BUT NOT FOR 2007 MODEL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. 2007 - 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS ARE TARGETED TO RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF A "WARRANTY EXTENSION" TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS. I RECEIVED THE NOTICE FOR MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, SUFFERED WITH THE "HARD TO TURN" CONDITION (SEE TSB 10-076) AND ASSOCIATED PUMP WHINING NOISE THAT IS DESCRIBED IN TSB 07-005 (DEFECTIVE PUMP RESERVOIR). ALTHOUGH THE PUMP WAS EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACED AT UNIVERSITY MOTORS (MISSOULA) I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RESERVOIR ($66.08). MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE RESERVOIR DEFECT IS WHAT CAUSES THE PUMP TO FAIL. I BELIEVE THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE REQUIRED AND ALL OWNERS THAT HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE RESERVOIR (OR PUMP) SHOULD BE 100% REIMBURSED. AMERICAN HONDA AUTOMOBILE REFUSED TO REIMBURSE FOR THIS REPLACEMENT STATING THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY APPLIES ONLY TO THE PUMP. PLEASE REVIEW HUGE COMPLAINT DATA BASE. *TR
I WAS IN A LONG LINE OF CARS WAITING TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT AFTER AN EVENT. AT ONE POINT, AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES IN LINE, I BRIEFLY INCHED THE CAR FORWARD AND THEN PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WITH MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE SPEED UNEXPECTEDLY STARTING INCREASING QUICKLY ON ITS OWN. WHEN THE SPEED HIT 5000 RPM AND WITH MY FOOT STILL FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO PREVENT IT FROM POSSIBLY MOVING FORWARD. THEN I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE CAR BEHAVED NORMALLY AFTER IT WAS RESTARTED, AND HAS BEHAVED NORMALLY IN THE TWO WEEKS SINCE THEN. PERHAPS COINCIDENTALLY, THE BATTERY FAILED TWO DAYS LATER AND WAS REPLACED. A HONDA DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY WHOLE DASH BOARD STARTED BLINKING AND NO INFORMATION OF SPEED, FUEL AMOUNT, HOT OR COLD, OR THE MILAGE WAS ABLE TO BE SEEN. WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT IF STOPPED COULDN'T TELL YOU HOW FAST I WAS GOING. *TR
REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS ON 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EXPERIENCED SUDDEN FAILURE CAUSING THE REAR LIFTGATE TO SUDDENLY CLOSE ON ME WHEN STANDING UNDER IT. STRUTS ARE MANUFACTURED BY STABILUS PART # 6826UR 0810N 334/06 C7. THE PART NUMBER IS 74820-SHJ-A012. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL FOR THE 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA08015. THERE IS NO RECALL NOTICE FOR THE 2007 SUDDEN STRUT FAILURE. *TR
WHEN I OPEN THE LIFTGATE IT DOES NOT HOLD UP. THE TAILGATE GAS STRUT HAS FAILED I ONLY HAVE 33,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SHUDDER BEFORE DOWN SHIFTING ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE TRANSMISSION BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, SHE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER SEAT BELT FAILED. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE CONTACT STRUCK HER FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS TO BE CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
POWER STEERING PUMP IS FAILING TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AT LOW ENGINE SPEEDS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED (NOT INTERMITTENT). CONDITION MAKES IT DIFFICULT AND SLOW TO MANUEVER THE VEHICLE DURING PARKING LOT TYPE MANEUVERS. THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THE CONDITION WAS WHILE PARALLEL PARKING IN THE CITY DURING A TIME OF HEAVY TRAFFIC. NOTE: POWER STEERING RESERVOIR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AFTER ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP DUE TO AIR INGESTION PROBLEM. VEHICLE IS A ONE OWNER AND I CAN CONFIRM THAT ONLY HONDA POWER STEERING FLUID HAS EVER BEEN USED. *TR

THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE ALSO BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,461.
EXCESSIVE SHUDDERING / JARRING WITH 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING MODEL. PROBLEM WAS RECOGNIZED WHEN INITIALLY PURCHASES USED FROM LUTHER HONDA IN HOPKINS, MN. THEY SAID IT WAS AN ENGINE MOUNT ISSUE AND REPLACED ONE OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH SHUDDERING/JARRING OCCURRING WHEN THE ECO SYSTEM KICKS IN AND OUT. *JS
THE POWER LIFTGATE ON MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING MINIVAN STARTED OPENING PARTIALLY, AND WITHIN THREE DAYS THE LIFTGATE WOULD NOT HOLD DOOR OPEN. POWER STRUTS FAILED AND HIT MY SON AND DAUGHTER IN BACK AS THEY WERE CLIMBING INTO VAN. NO RECALLS ON FILE FOR MY YEAR MODEL, BUT HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR CLOSED ON A CHILD, CAUSING BRUISES TO THE CHILDS RIGHT HAND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE RETRACTED WHEN IT SENSED AN OBSTRUCTION BUT IT DID NOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE BRAKES OPERATED ON THEIR OWN AS I MADE A LEFT TURN AND WAS ASCENDING A HIGHWAY RAMP AT 20MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF THE MOTOR. I TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND DROVE 45 MILES TO MY HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. IN FEBRUARY, 2012, I MADE A RIGHT TURN ASCENDING A HIGHWAY RAMP AT ABOUT 25MPH. THE BRAKES OPERATED ON THEIR OWN. AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED OFF THE MOTOR AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN. THIS TIME I DROVE IT 100 MILES TO THE PLACE WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND LEFT IT THERE (IT WAS A SATURDAY NIGHT). NEITHER THE AGENCY WHERE I PURCHASED IT NOR THE HONDA AGENCY 60 MILES FROM MY HOME COULD FIND A PROBLEM. IN APRIL, 2012 THE BRAKES OPERATED ON THEIR OWN AFTER MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN. IN NOVEMBER, 2012 IT BRAKED AGAIN. I LEFT THE MOTOR RUNNING AND CALLED THE PLACE WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY CAME AND DROVE IT TO THEIR SHOP (IT TRIED TO BRAKE 5 TIMES DURING THE 10 MILE DRIVE BUT DID NOT SUCCEED). A STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WAS REPLACED PER THE CODES. MARCH, 2013, 250 MILES FROM HOME IT DID IT AGAIN. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND DROVE 250 MILES HOME. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. MINIVAN COULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 55 MPH., AND IT SHOOK AND SPUTTERED AS SPEED INCREASED. SEEMED NECESSARY TO LET OF THE ACCELERATOR TO ALLOW THE ENGINE TO SHIFT AND INCREASE SPEED. KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. TOLD BY HONDA DEALER THAT SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN REMOVED BY SOMEONE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THREADING IN COIL/CYLINDER HEAD. HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT ANYONE ACCESSED ENGINE OR SPARK PLUGS IN THIS TIMEFRAME. 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX POWER STEERING LOSS AT LOW SPEEDS (LESS THAN 10MPH) ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING IN/OUT OF A PARKING SPOT OR DOING A 3-POINT TURN. AGAIN, I HAD SAME ISSUE THIS WEEK, THEN I WENT TO HONDA. THEY MENTIONED "RIGHT SIDE INNER AND OUTER TIE RODS LOOSE AND WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT". THEY DID MENTIIONED TO ME THAT IT IS DANGAEROUS TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THEY KEPT MY VEHICLE OVERNIGHT AND INSTALLED A NEW PART. ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR WAS NOT IN ANY SHAPE TO CONTINUE. *TR I TOOK MY HONDA TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER, HERB CHAMBERS HONDA IN SEEKONK MASSACHUSETTS. AT THAT TIME, THEY MENTIONED THAT A BROKEN WHEEL BEARING IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THE WHEEL COULD LOCK UP OR COME COMPLETELY DISLODGED FROM THE FRAME. IN ADDITION, HE ASSURED ME THAT MY DRIVING DID NOT CAUSE THE BREAK AND THAT IS A CLEAR DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT. STILL, BECAUSE THE CAR HAD 61,622 MILES, I WAS CHARGED 700.00 TO FIX THE BEARINGS. I AM ASKING NETS OFFICIALS TO INVESTIGATE HONDA FOR THE WHEEL BEARING FAILURES ON ALL HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVANS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: THOUSANDS IF NOT, MILLIONS EFFECTED - ACCORDING TO THOUSANDS OF HONDA OWNERS ON THE INTERNET WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE, THE WHEEL BEARINGS BREAK ANYWHERE FROM 1200K (JUST OFF THE LOT) TO 75K. SAFETY ' WHEN YOU CONTINUE DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH BAD BEARINGS, THE SYMPTOMS WILL WORSEN AND SAFETY RISKS INCREASE. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BECOME HARDER TO CONTROL. IF THIS HAPPENS, NAVIGATING AND STEERING WILL BE DIFFICULT. A WHEEL WILL BECOME LOOSE AND MOVE AROUND IN THE WHEEL ARCH, CAUSING DAMAGE TO HUB AND BRAKES. IF THE WHEEL REMAINS UNSTABLE, IT WILL EVENTUALLY DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. ABS ISSUES - WHEEL BEARINGS CONTAIN SENSORS THAT SEND A SIGNAL TO THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WHEN THE TIRES SPIN OR SKID. CONTINUING TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH BAD BEARINGS CAN CAUSE ITS ABS SYSTEM TO FAIL. WHEN BEARINGS ARE FAULTY, THE ABS SIGNAL LIGHT USUALLY APPEARS ON THE DASH INDICATING THE DISABLEMENT OF THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS GENERALLY DOES NOT CAUSE ANY INTERRUPTIONS IN REGULAR BRAKING; HOWEVER, IT WILL SUSPEND THE ABS SYSTEM'S AID IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS OR WHILE BRAKING ON WET OR SLIPPERY SURFACES.
CAR HESITATES ON DOWNSHIFT AT 40 AND 20 MPH. ON 6/26/11 I BROUGHT CAR INTO LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO HAVE A MANUFACTURER PRODUCT UPDATE ADDRESSED THAT WAS TARGETING THIS TRANSMISSION JUDDER ISSUE. DEALER PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH PROVED TO BE INEFFECTIVE. ON 9/7/11 I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE SOFTWARE UPDATE AGAIN SINCE THE TRANSMISSION JUDDER WAS STILL PRESENT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $115 TO LOOK AT THE CAR, NOT INCLUDING COST OF ANY REPAIRS. SINCE HONDA'S PRODUCT UPDATE NOTIFICATION INDICATED THIS UPDATE SHOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE AND THE DEALER WAS INTENDING TO CHARGE ME, I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP IN ANGER WITHOUT HAVING THEM LOOK AT THE CAR. ON 11/19/11 I BROUGHT CAR BACK IN BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS STILL PRESENT AND AGREED TO PAY THEIR DIAGNOSIS FEE OF $115. THEY RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO TRY TO RESOLVE. ON 12/17/11 THE ISSUE WAS STILL NOT CORRECTED SO I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AGAIN. THE DEALER RECOGNIZED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM BUT SAID IT WAS "SLIGHT" AND THAT I SHOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE PRONOUNCED. THIS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT HONDA'S DOCUMENTATION SAYS DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT HAVING THIS ISSUE FIXED COULD DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION. HONDA'S PRODUCT UPDATE LETTER TO THE DEALER INDICATED TORQUE CONVERTER SHOULD BE REPLACED IF SOFTWARE UPDATE WASN'T EFFECTIVE, BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO DO THAT. 12/19/11 I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AGAIN OUT OF DISSATISFACTION WITH THE CONCLUSION OF THE 12/17/11 VISIT. DEALER AGAIN ATTEMPTED A SOFTWARE UPDATE, WHICH AGAIN PROVED TO BE INEFFECTIVE. ON 2/6/12, I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA TO EXPLAIN THE HISTORY. I AM NOW BEING ASKED TO PAY FOR PART OF THIS REPAIR, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN FREE OF CHARGE TO ME HAD THE DEALER ADDRESSED IT DURING ONE OF MY INITIAL VISITS. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HONDA HAS KNOWN ABOUT SINCE 2004 AT LEAST, I.E., THE A/C CONDENSER IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE FROM SMALL ROAD OBJECTS (STONES MOSTLY). HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR FAULT, CLAIMING DAMAGE IS "ACCIDENTAL". MY POSITION IS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF AND COULD HAVE EASILY PREVENTED. IN 2008 MODEL YEAR, HONDA COVERED THE CONDENSER WITH A SHIELD TO PREVENT FURTHER PROBLEMS. MY DEALER IS OFFERING TO ADD THIS SHIELD FOR $70.00 (IN ADDITION TO THE $1,000 REPAIR BILL) TO PREVENT FURTHER OCCURENCES. THIS MAY NOT BE A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT IT SURELY SMACKS OF A CONSUMER RIP-OFF. HONDA POORLY DESIGNED THE SHIELDING FOR THE CONDENSER, KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS (JUST GOOGLE THE ISSUE), AND THEN ALLOWED ITS DEALERS TO CHARGE $1,000 FOR THE PROBLEM THEY CREATED. OBVIOUSLY, THE DELAERS ARE HAPPY WITH THIS COMMON PROBLEM. EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS REPAIR EITHER. HONDA CLAIMS THE DAMAGE IS LIKE A STONE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. HOWEVER, THE PURPOSE OF THE WINDSHIELD IS TO PREVENT A STONE FROM HITTING THE CAR'S OCCUPANTS; NO ONE WOULD ARGUE HONDA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WINDSHIELD DOING THE JOB IT WAS INTENDED TO DO BY PREVENTING A STONE FROM HITTING THE OCCUPANTS. WITH REGARD TO THE CONDENSER, HONDA COULD EASILY HAVE PREVENTED THE PROBLEM BY PLACING A SHIELD OVER THE AFFECTED PART(S). IT CHOSE NOT TO WITH THE FULL UNDERSTANDING THIS COMMON PROBLEM WOULD COST ITS CUSTOMERS HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND (IF NOT MILLIONS) OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR.

I WAS TRAVELING ALONG A WINDY ROAD WHEN MY HONDA VAN STARTED TO BRAKE ALL BY ITSELF. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS OVER THE NEXT 30 MINUTES. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT PROBABLY HAD TO DO WITH ME BRAKING FREQUENTLY ON THE WINDY ROADS. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, I WAS TRAVELING IN TOWN, GOING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. MY FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR, I WAS GOING ABOUT 35-40 MPH AND THE CAR STARTED BRAKING ALL BY ITSELF. IT WAS 2012 WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID THEY HAD TO RESET A SENSOR THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE STABILITY SYSTEM. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE THEN, BUT HONESTLY, I THINK ABOUT IT CONSTANTLY, WONDERING IF IT'LL HAPPEN AGAIN. I FELT EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ANIMAL AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE FRONTAL DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, CAUSING SEVERE INJURY TO THE CONTACTS NOSE AND LEFT ARM. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SAVAGE FACILITY. I NOTICED THE VIBRATION ON OUR HONDA ODYSSEY ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THEN A MONTH AGO, HAD OUR PREPAID SERVICE DONE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE VIBRATION AND THEY SAID IT'S NORMAL. THEN AFTER THAT I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VIBRATION AND THAT THE VAN NEEDED A COMPUTER UPDATE. SO HAD THAT DONE 3 DAYS AGO (6/27/11) AND STILL VIBRATED. BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN TODAY (6/30/11), TOLD THEM IT NEEDED A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER AND IF THEY CAN CHECK THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED NEW TIRES AND A COMPUTER UPDATE AGAIN TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SO, DID THAT AND STILL HAD THE VIBRATION ISSUE. I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY. SO I BROUGHT IT BACK AFTER DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT 1 MILE AND TOLD THEM AGAIN, THAT IT'S NOT FIXED. SO NOW I'M SEEKING SOME SORT OF ASSISTANCE AND COMPENSATION FOR ALL THE TIME AND MONEY WASTED..THANKS *TR
SEAT INSTALLED REARFACING WITH SUPER LATCH LOOSENED EXCESSIVELY AND DRAMATICALLY WHEN PUSHED/PULLED. INITIALLY THERE WAS NO SLACK OVER VERY LITTLE SLACK, AND IT BECAME INCHES OF SLACK AS THE ENTIRE SEAT ROCKED BACK AND FORTH. HAD THE CHILD IN THE SEAT NOT BEEN BELTED IN, HE COULD HAVE EASILY FALLEN OUT OF THE CAR. THE SEAT WAS RETIGHTENED AND THE SAME PROCESS WAS EASILY REPEATED. THE SEAT WAS REINSTALLED FORWARD-FACING, DIMINISHING THE PROTECTION OFFERED TO THE CHILD (REARFACING IS 5X SAFER), SO THAT THE CHILD COULD BE SAFELY TRANSPORTED HOME.
