WHILE DRIVING OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY (42,000 MILES) THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED. ON OCTOBER 24, 2010, MY HUSBAND AND I HAD JUST TAKEN OFF ON THE HIGHWAY, AND HAD REACHED APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN I THOUGHT HE HAD SLAMMED ON BRAKES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. HE SAID THEY DID IT ON THEIR OWN. WE DROVE ANOTHER 1/2 MILE TO A GAS STATION AND IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES. ONCE WE PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION HE PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIMES, AND CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE EMERGENCY BREAK WASN'T ON, OR THAT THE CAR DIDN'T SLIP OUT OF GEAR. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE, SO WE VENTURED THE ADDITIONAL 5 MILES TO HOME WITH NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. TODAY IS SUNDAY, SO I WILL BE TAKING THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TOO FAR (WHEN YOU FIRST GET INTO THE ODYSSEY AND PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT WILL GO TO THE FLOOR) AND IT IS SOFT/MUSHY. [THIS ISSUE WAS PRESENT BEFORE THE RECALL EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND IS STILL AN ISSUE SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS MADE.] THIS BECOMES AN ISSUE WHEN I DRIVE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE WHICH HAS A "NORMAL" HARD BRAKE PEDAL AND REQUIRES MUCH MORE FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I GET USED TO THE SOFT/MUSHY PEDAL AND DON'T REACT SOON ENOUGH TO STOP WHAT I CALL "NORMAL" BRAKE PEDAL IN OTHER VEHICLES. I VOTE FOR A STANDARD BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE REQUIREMENT SO WHEN A PERSON DRIVES DIFFERENT VEHICLES THERE ISN'T THE HAZARD OF NOT PRESSING DOWN HARD ENOUGH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAUSE ONE GETS USED TO A VERY SOFT PEDAL IN THE HONDA ODYSSEY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A WALL. HE WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V098000 (SERVICE BRAKES, AIR). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,500.
THE BRAKES ON MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, HAVE BEEN CHECKED THREE (3) TIMES BY THE DEALER. BUT THE PROBLEM OF NOT STOPPING IN A SAFE TIME AND THE GRINDING NOISE MADE BY THEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THE PEDAL IS VERY SOFT AND SOMETIMES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND STILL NOT STOPPING IN TIME FOR THE RED LIGHT. THIS STILL OCCURS DAILY. I HAVE HAD THE RECALL DONE FOR THE AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE BUT NOTHING HELPED, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES LOOKED AT AND THE HONDA DEALER STATED "THEY ARE JUST FINE". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER BRAKING TO A STOP, THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD CAUSING A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN BRAKING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIRS TO THE BRAKE PADS BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
IN 2008, HAD MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WAS SERVICED BY GILROY HONDA DUE TO A FAULTY POWER STEERING PUMP. AT THAT TIME, THEY HAD REPLACED THE FAULTY PUMP AS IT WAS FOUND TO BE CAUSING THE STICKY DRIVING DURING SLOW SPEEDS. THIS ISSUE IS NOT NOTICED ON HIGH SPEEDS SINCE THERE ARE NO BIG/WIDE TURNS NEEDED AT THAT SPEED. THE VAN IS NORMALLY DRIVEN BY MY WIFE AND I SELDOM USE IT. I RECENTLY USED IT (2ND WEEK OF OCT '10) WHEN I HAVE TO TAKE THE VAN TO GILROY HONDA FOR A REGULAR SERVICE. DURING THAT TIME, I NOTICED A VERY STICKY STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT I NOTICED IN 2008. I ALSO NOTICED THAT AT LOW SPEEDS, IT TENDS TO PULL TOWARDS THE RIGHT. I ALSO NOTICE THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF A TIGHT SPOT (LIKE IN A PARKING LOT) BECAUSE OF THIS. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT IT SINCE MY WIFE IS DRIVING IT EVERYTIME AND THAT SHE MIGHT HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEBODY DURING A SLOW MANEUVER. I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT TO GILROY HONDA BUT THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT FOR ME AS IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I ASKED WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE A RECALL ABOUT THIS BUT SAID NO. I THINK THIS HAS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL AS IT CAN LEAD TO CRASH OR EVEN WORSE INJURIES. *TR
AT 21,000 MI. FRONT VIBRATION WHEN BRAKES APPLIED WHILE DRIVING. TOLD BRAKE ROTOR WAS WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE TURNED. HAD THE WORK DONE. AT 30194MI NOTICED FRONT VIBRATION AGAIN AT 65MPH BREAKING. THIS OCCURRED AFTER THE SOFT BRAKE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED AGAIN. TOLD MY DRIVING WAS THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE. VAN IS USED TO DRIVE 1.5 MILES TO AND FROM WORK AND HIGHWAY DRIVING IN NON-RUSH HOUR TIMES. WAS TOLD THE 1.5 MI. DRIVE EACH DAY WAS CONSIDERED HARD DRIVING BY HONDA AND MOST LIKELY CAUSE OF ROTOR WARP. *TR
WHEN I TURN OR GO STRAIGHT, WITH AND WITHOUT BRAKES ON, AT A SLOW SPEED, I HEAR A LOUD HORN-LIKE SOUND. SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM FRONT. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 21,000 MILES AND BOUGHT IT NEW. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING MOST OF THE TIME WE'VE OWNED IT (ALMOST 3 YEARS). DEALER CAN'T MAKE THE PROBLEM HAPPEN. I EVEN LEFT IT OVERNIGHT. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I LEAVE HOME. I MAKE SHORT TRIPS TO SCHOOL AND STORE. IT IS SPORADIC. I HEARD ANOTHER ODYSSEY WITH THE SAME NOISE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT THE OTHER DAY. IS THIS COMMON? IT IS ANNOYING AND EMBARRASSING. IT CAN BE QUITE LOUD. SINCE I'VE HAD THE RECALL DONE, IT'S NOT AS FREQUENT. *TR
I OWN A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L. LAST MAY, I RECEIVED TWO SEPARATE RECALL NOTICES FOR PCM UPDATE FOR LOCK-UP CLUTCH FUNCTION AND FOR LOW AND SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WAS A DELAY IN TAKING MY VAN TO A DEALER BECAUSE I WAS ON A MILITARY DEPLOYMENT. MY DEPLOYMENT ENDED LAST MONTH AND THAT'S WHEN I TOOK MY VAN TO GET SERVICE (RECALLS). A MONTH HAD PAST SINCE I TOOK MY VAN FOR THE RECALL BUT THE BREAK PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AND I THINK IT'S GETTING WORST. THE BREAKS IS VERY SOFT AND THE PEDAL IS VERY LOW WHEN I STEP ON IT. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PUMP MY BRAKES TWICE JUST TO FEEL THE BRAKE. I SENT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE A LETTER REQUESTING ANOTHER AUTHORIZATION TO HAVE MY BRAKES CHECK AND SERVICE AGAIN. HONDA'S SOLUTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM DID NOT WORK. THE HONDA DEALER BLED, SEAL AND CAP THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON MY VAN BUT IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOK AT AGAIN BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR LOSE THEIR LIVES. *TR
EXTREME PRESSURE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKES, IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN ON A DOWNHILL ROAD AT THE SAME TIME THE CLUTCH SHUDDERED, IT NOT ONLY SHUDDERED, BUT IT MADE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKE AND RATTLE AS IF IT WERE FALLING APART. SCARED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE ON LONG RUN. ALSO VEHICLE SHAKES SOMETIMES DURING NORMAL BRAKING ACTION. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS VERY SOFT AND THE VEHICLE FAILS TO STOP IN A NORMAL TIME. THIS CAR WAS ALREADY SERVICED FOR HONDA'S 2010 SOFT BRAKE REPAIR ON THE 2007-08 ODYSSEY. IT SEEMS THE SYMPTOMS OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL ARE STILL EVIDENT AS THIS RECALL RELATES TO AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE OVER TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE BRAKES ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPPED, ALTHOUGH SHE WAS APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLES STABILITY ASSIST SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THIRTEEN TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, A REPORT WAS FILED AND ASSIGNED TO A REGIONAL OFFICER TO INVESTIGATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,246.
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY PULLS HARD RIGHT AFTER RIGHT TURN AND HARD LEFT AFTER LEFT TURN. THIS IS A MAJOR DRIVING HAZARD AS THE VEHICLE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO PULL OFF THE ROAD VERY QUICKLY OR INTO OTHER VEHICLES IF THE STEERING IS NOT CONSTANTLY CORRECTED. I BOUGHT A USED CPO HONDA ODYSSEY IN AUGUST OF 2010, AND WE NOTICED THIS PULLING PROBLEM RIGHT OFF THE LOT. ON A FLAT SURFACE AFTER A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE WILL CHANGE LANES IN 3 SECONDS IF NOT CORRECTED. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 TIMES, AND THEY TRIED MANY THINGS TO NO AVAIL (TIRE ROTATIONS, ALIGNMENT, TIRE DEFLATIONS, ETC...). I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE SUSPENSION AND STRUTS BECAUSE A PERSON POSTED AN UNOFFICIAL FIX ONLINE THAT DEALS WITH IMPROPERLY ALIGNED STRUTS THAT WORKED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CLAIMED THAT THEY REMOVED THE STRUTS AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED, AND ACTUALLY THE PROBLEM SEEMS WORSE NOW. I AM PRETTY SURE THEY DID NOT REMOVE THE STRUTS AT ALL SINCE I REQUESTED TO SEE THE STRUTS WHEN THEY WERE REMOVED AND THEY DID NOT SHOW THEM TO ME AT ALL. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND TWO TECHNICIANS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WHEN THEY RODE ALONG ON TEST DRIVES WITH ME, BUT THE ARE CLAIMING THAT THE ISSUE WELL WITHIN THE SPECS DEFINED BY HONDA. THEY CONTINUE TO EXCLAIM THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THERE HAS TO BE A WAY TO FIX THIS, BUT IT SEEMS THAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY TO FIX THE PROBLEM PROPERLY. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD, AND I AM WORRIED THAT MY FAMILY OF FIVE MAY BE INVOLVED IN A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE PULLING PROBLEM IS SO BAD. PLEASE HELP MY FAMILY AND ALL THE OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING THIS PULLING / ALIGNMENT PROBLEM GET A PROPER FIX BY ISSUING A RECALL THAT REQUIRES HONDA TO CONFESS TO THE ISSUE OFFICIALLY AND FIX THE PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL BEFORE SOMETHING CATASTROPHIC HAPPENS. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY SOFT BRAKES RECALL HAS BEEN DONE TWICE ABOUT 1000 MILES LATER SOFT AND SQUISHY AGAIN DID NHTSA HAVE ANY REVIEW ON LONG TERM "FIX" THAT HAS NOT WORKED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY HONDA SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND HYANNIS HONDA HAS SAID ALL WAS NORMAL ... NO THE BRAKES REALLY DO NOT WORK WORTH A [XXX]. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE TRAVELING 5 MPH THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD FALLEN TO THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD BEGAN TO VIBRATE, SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE BEGAN DRIVING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 24000. UPDATED 1/19/2010 *CN THE CONSUMER AS SHE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY LOCKED FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN VIBRATED AND THEN MADE A SCRAPPING NOISE. SHE PUMPED THE BRAKES THEN THEY SEEMED TO PERFORM AS DESIGNED. UPDATED 03/28/11
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY STEERING CONTINUALLY PULLS TO THE LEFT WHEN AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH. ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR THREE YEARS, SINCE I BOUGHT THE VAN NEW FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP. ISSUES HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED OR RECOGNIZED TO DATE BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
TYPICAL HONDA ODYSSEY SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. WE'VE HAD THIS BRAKE ISSUE SINCE NEW. MULTIPLE RECALLS, ADJUSTMENTS, ETC... HONDA FOR SOME REASON CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. OUR VAN WAS WRECKED TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID BRAKE PROBLEM. THE FIRST WRECKED HAPPENED IN AUGUST 2010. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CAUSED A FRONT END COLLISION. I TOOK IT TO HONDA AGAIN, BUT THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. THEN THE SECOND WRECK OCCURRED. SAME REASON AS THE FIRST. THAT'S TWO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS IN 1.5 YEAR TIME SPAN. EACH TIME THE DAMAGE EXCEEDED $10,000. BOTH ACCIDENTS OCCURRED BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE SOFT AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T SLOW DOWN FAST ENOUGH. OH, DID I FORGET TO MENTION THAT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED IN EITHER ACCIDENT. WHAT'S THE POINT IN HAVING AIRBAGS IF THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DEPLOY IN A MAJOR FRONT END COLLISION. THIS VEHICLE IS FLAT OUT DANGEROUS. *TT
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. WE NOTICED TWO SMALL STAINS ON THE CARPET IN THE REAR STORAGE AREA, WHERE THE 3RD ROW SEATS CAN BE STORED. WE TRIED TO CLEAN THE CARPET WITH RESOLVE, BUT THAT MADE THE STAINS BIGGER. WHEN WE VACUUMED THE CARPET, WE FOUND AN OILY RESIDUE WITH THE CONSISTENCY OF LITHIUM GREASE IN THE VACUUM ATTACHMENT. WE REMOVED THE REAR SEATS AND FOLDED THE CARPETING BACK. THERE'S A GRAY PANEL OF SOUNDPROOFING OR SOMETHING ELSE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CARGO AREA, AND THAT PANEL IS DISINTEGRATING, LEAVING BEHIND A TARRY RESIDUE. THE TARRY RESIDUE IS WHAT REACHED UP THROUGH THE CARPET TO CAUSE THE STAIN. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE PANEL ITSELF IS DISINTEGRATING. WE PURCHASED THE CAR USED FROM A DEALER IN APRIL 2010, AND FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM IN JULY 2010. *TR
MY BRAKES ON MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 VAN FAILED LAST WEEK. THE VAN HAS ONLY 13K MILES ON IT. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP (CAPITOL HONDA, SAN JOSE, CA) TOLD ME THAT THE POWER BOOSTER ON THE BRAKES WAS DEFECTIVE. THEY SAID IT WAS VERY RARE. LAST MONTH, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE TO HAVE THE VAN SERVICED TO PREVENT A BRAKE PROBLEM CALLED "SOFT BRAKE." I TOOK IT IN AND SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE BRAKES SEEMED TO GIVE WAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH CHILDREN INSIDE. I COULD HEAR A HISSING SOUND AND THE BRAKE FELT SPONGY. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD "HARD BRAKE," NOT "SOFT BRAKE." THE DEALERSHIP CALLED HONDA AND HONDA AUTHORIZED A "ONE-TIME COMPLIMENTARY" FIX. I WRITE THIS IN THE HOPES OF PREVENTING A TRAGEDY AS THESE VANS ARE MOSTLY FAMILY VEHICLES--MULTIPLE CHILDREN ON BOARD. *TR
SEAT BELT MALFUNCTION, 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, FAR BACK PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKED UP AROUND CHILD IN A TWISTED MANNER SLOWLY CRUSHING THE PASSENGER. SEAT BELT COULD NOT BE LOOSENED. CHILD AND PARENT TRIED TO RETRACT SEAT BELT BY RAISING CHILD ONLY RESULTING IN TIGHTER SEATBELT AND THE SUSPENSION OF CHILD IN SEATBELT. VISUAL - CHILD HEAD IS AT HEAD REST LEVEL AND WAIST OF CHILD ABOUT 6-7 INCHES FROM TOP OF SEATBELT RETRACTION UNIT. CHILD IS IN A BACK ARCH TRYING TO KEEP LEGS TOUCHING SEAT TO RELIVE PRESSURE FROM STRAP. SOLUTION - PARENT WAS UNABLE TO GET SEATBELT TO RELEASE AND EFFORTS RESULTED IN TIGHTER SEATBELT. PARENT HAD TO UTILIZE POCKET KNIFE TO CUT THE SEAT BELT STRAP. SIDE NOTE - INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS OTHERS RUNNING INTO SAME PROBLEM. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY LIFT GATE SUPPORT FAILURE. THE FAILURE OF THE LIFT GATE CAUSES HEAD INJURY TO HEAD OR BODY UPON FAILURE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 EX WITH 13,000 MILES AND BOTH OF THE TAILGATE (HATCH) STRUTS JUST FAILED SUDDENTLY ON 08/15/2010. THERE SHOULD BE SOME ADDITIONAL SAFETY MECHANISM ON THESE SO THAT THEY JUST DON'T COLLAPSE AND CAUSE HARM (THE HATCH ALMOST SLAM MY 7-YEARS OLD SON ON THE HEAD). BOTH CAN NOT GO BAD AT ONE TIME AND EITHER ONE SHOULD SUPPORT SOME WEIGHT. IT IS QUITE DANGEROUS. THESE LIFTGATE STRUTS SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE BAD THINGS HAPPEN. HONDA SHOULD STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY PUT IN THESE CARS. *TR
POWER STEERING IS NON-EXISTENT AT PARKING SPEEDS. WHILE PARKING, TURNING OR MANEUVERING AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS, THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE CAR IS TO "MUSCLE" THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME BACK ASKING THAT I DRIVE THE CAR BACK TO MEL RAPTON, EVEN THOUGH I STATED I BELIEVED THAT I HAD NO FUNCTIONAL BRAKES BEYOND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I CAUIOUSLY DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK, I HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TWICE IN ORDER STOP THE VEHICLE AND AVOID RUNNING ANY MORE RED LIGHTS OR HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. DEALER HAS EXPRESSED FRUSTRATION IN DEALING WITH HONDA OF AMERICA IN FINDING A RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. BEFORE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED THE DEALER HAD TO TAKE A "SNAPSHOT" OF THE RPM DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. AFTER TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACEMENT AND THIRD SOFTWARE UPDATE THE DIFFERENCE IS GREATER. HOA NOW STATES THE RPM DIFFERENCE IS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. WHEN ASKED WHY THE LESSER AMOUNT REPORTED BEFORE WAS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A REPLACEMENT OF TORQUE CONVERTER AND NOW NO FURTHER SERVICE IS NEEDED, HOA HAD NO ANSWER. *TR

MAIL STOP 500-2N-7A TORRANCE, CA 90501-2746 RE: 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING DEAR HONDA, JUNE 2, 2010 I HAD A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH MILLER HONDA, 4477 VESTAL PARKWAY E, VESTAL, NY; FOR 9:00 AM. THE RECALL WORK FOR MY SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VIBRATION OCCURRING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MPH AND ABOVE, WAS TO BE DONE. FIVE HOURS LATER, APPROXIMATELY 2:05 PM I STOPPED BACK WITH THE LOANER CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE HOW MUCH LONGER THE CAR WOULD BE TIED UP AND FOUND THAT WORK ON THE CAR HAD NEVER EVEN BEEN STARTED. I WAS TOLD A MECHANIC HAD CALLED IN AND THAT A PROBLEM WITH A NEW CAR REQUIRED SOME PRIORITY WORK SO MY CAR WAS NOT WORKED ON. HAVING WORKED AROUND AUTOMOBILE SHOPS FROM A TEENAGER ONWARD I AM NOT EXACTLY A NOVICE. BRAKE WORK IS NOT A JOKE AND THERE ARE SERIOUS STATE LAWS INVOLVED FOR A DRIVER TO KNOWINGLY DRIVE A CAR WITH FAULTY BRAKES. UNFORTUNATELY MILLER HONDA FAILS TO REALIZE THAT BRAKES ARE A PRIORITY AND NOTHING TO FOOLED AROUND WITH. MILLER HONDA SPENDS A FORTUNE ON ADVERTISING ATTEMPTING TO ENTICE THE PUBLIC TO COME TO THEIR DEALERSHIP AND PURCHASE CARS FROM THEM. THEN THEY TURN AROUND AND TREAT PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS AND HONDA OWNERS AS DISPOSABLE ITEMS. WHAT EXACTLY THE THINKING IS BEHIND THEIR BUSINESS PLAN TOTALLY ESCAPES ME. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT I AM FREE TO HAVE MY HONDA REPAIRED BY ANY HONDA DEALER? SHOULD THIS INFORMATION BE ACCURATE, I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THERE IS ONE IN THE AREA THAT IS ACTUALLY INTERESTED IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND JUST MIGHT HAVE A DESIRE TO SELL ANOTHER HONDA SOMEDAY. I HAVE A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 34K AND MAJOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE 5 TIMES TO GET FIX AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IM AFRAID TO GO ON LONG TRIPS WITH THE FAMILY. I HAVE A NEW BORN AND A 4 YR OLD AND DON'T WANT TO BE BROKEN DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I PAID $25,000 FOR THIS UNRELIABLE VEHICLE. HONDA TOLD ME THEY ARE AWARE OF A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. I REALLY HOPE THIS PROBLEM GETS FIXED. HONDA ODYSSEYS HAVE A HISTORY OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *TR
