TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE CHILDREN WERE GETTING OUT OF THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE, THE DOOR STOPPED MIDWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NOW THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
A TRANSMISSION JUDDER IS FELT WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-45 MPH AND I DID RECEIVE A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION REGARDING THAT SUBJECT UPON WHICH I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HE HAS FAILED TO REMEDY THE DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL DEFECTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD HER VEHICLE SERVICED FOR THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V098000 (SERVICE BRAKES, AIR). WHEN RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE DEALER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL JERK WHEN CHANGING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND SHE WAS ADVISED SHE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO EXHIBIT AN UNUSUAL CLUNKING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 45 MPH OR GREATER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT SHE SHOULD NOT BE TOO CONCERNED WITH THE NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
THE TAILGATE FAILED TO STAY OPEN ALL THE SUDDEN, A DIRECT HIT ON THE DRIVER WITH MINOR BODY INJURY. IT HAD BEEN WORKING BEFORE AND FAILED WITHOUT ANY SIGN. *TR
SOFT BRAKE PROBLEM ON 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY STILL EXISTS AFTER THE 2010 APRIL SOFT BRAKE RECALL PROCEDURE HAS BEEN APPLIED. EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL PROCEDURE WAS APPLIED TO THE CAR, THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUES TO EXIST. HONDA SHOULD COME UP WITH A SOLUTION THAT REALLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SEAT BELT WEBBING ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT WAS COMING APART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. REAR BRAKE CABLES FLEX WHILE TURNING CAUSING LOUD AUDIBLE SOUND FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. HONDA AT FIRST CLAIMED THIS IS NORMAL, BUT ALSO STATED THERE IS NO KNOWN CORRECTION FOR THE ISSUE AT THIS TIME. OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT FOR HONDA HAS NOT FIGURED OUT A WAY TO FIX. CABLE BRAKE ISSUE WOULD AND DOES, CAUSE ME GREAT CONCERN ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX. *TR
BOTH REAR TAILGATE STRUTS HAD LEAKED FLUID, CAUSING AUTOMATIC TAILGATE TO OPEN BUT THEN SLAM SHUT RATHER THAN STAY OPEN. SERVICE ADVISOR EXPLAINED THAT THE PROBLEM ONLY BECAME EVIDENT AFTER BOTH OF THE STRUTS HAD FAILED BUT, UNTIL THEN, ONE FUNCTIONING STRUT MAY HAVE BEEN CONCEALING THE FAILURE OF THE OTHER. PROBLEM MANIFESTED AT 16,000 MILES, AND WAS LESS THAN TWO WEEKS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME TO REPLACE THE FAILED HATCH STRUTS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY RAINING CONDITIONS OR FLOW OF WATER POOL, ON ROADWAY OR HWY, VEHICLE WANTS TO SHUT OFF DISPLAYING NO CHARGING, LIKE I HAVE NO POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS. TWICE THIS OCCURRED ON HWY SPEED 70+ OR 25-30 +, ON ROADWAY WITH HEAVY RAIN AND FLOW OF WATER POOL SPLASH DURING TURN VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND POWER UP WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 3-5 SECONDS. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OVER TO THE OFF ROAD MEDIUM AND REGAIN ENGINE POWER. THIS HAS HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE COURSE OF 2 YRS. BRINGING VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALERSHIP WHICH THEY CANT REPEAT COMPLAINT EVEN WITH HOSING ENGINE BELT WITH WATER,THOUGH THE TECH STATED MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE REPORTED THIS DURING RAINING CONDITIONS. NOTE NO POWER STEERING DUE TO THIS EVENT. RET NYPD *TR
POWER STEERING IS NON-EXISTENT AT PARKING SPEEDS. WHILE PARKING, TURNING OR MANEUVERING AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS, THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE CAR IS TO "MUSCLE" THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND. POWER STEERING ENGAGES AS SPEED INCREASES. MENTIONED NUMEROUS TIMES TO DEALER AND THEY CLAIM THAT IS THE WAY A VAN DRIVES. THIS IS MY 3RD ODYSSEY AND NONE HAS EVER DRIVEN THIS WAY. SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VAN AND LACK OF MANUFACTURER RESPONSE WILL MAKE THIS MY LAST HONDA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPAIRED UNDER CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10V098000, SERVICE BRAKES. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE BRAKES WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALER WANTS TO PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON THE VEHICLE A FOURTH TIME, BUT THE CONTACT DOESN'T FEEL THAT WILL REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45376.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE TRAVELING AT 22 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THEY HESITATED TO ENGAGE BUT RETURNED TO NORMAL A FEW SECONDS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE REPAIR FOR RECALL 10V098000 (SERVICE BRAKES, AIR) WAS PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
I HAVE A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKING LIGHTLY AT LOW SPEEDS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. THERE HAS TO BE DEFECT IN THE BRAKES CAUSING THE ROTORS TO WARP AS THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 28K MILES AND THE PADS HAD MORE THAN 50% LEFT. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND LOOKS LIKE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX AC COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ROAD DEBRIS (A SMALL ROCK) PUNCTURED IT. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES AND IS ONLY DRIVEN ON MAIN CITY ROADS. THE TOTAL COST OF THIS REPAIR, WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY WAS OVER $800 INCLUDING TOWING. I HAVE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS NEVER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY - EVEN THOUGH THERE SEEMS TO BE A FLAW IN THE DESIGN. THE CLAIMS ARE THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR IS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED AND IS IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ENGINE WHERE IT IS MORE LIKELY TO BE EXPOSED TO NORMAL ROAD DEBRIS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A LEVEL AND SMOOTH ROAD UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION AT AROUND 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER -- AS IF DRIVING OVER A ROUGH ROAD. SEE HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN LOCK-UP CLUTCH JUDDERS BETWEEN 20-45 MPH HTTP://WWW.IN.HONDA.COM/RJANISIS/PUBS/SB/A09-053.PDF. *TR
AFTER 3.5 YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, I NOTICED THAT THE PAINT ON THE ROOF AND ON THE TOP OF THE FRONT FENDERS STARTED PEELING OFF. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I TOLD THEM THAT I HAVE THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND SHOWED THEM A COPY OF HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN # 08-031 THAT DESCRIBES THE PAINT PEELING PROBLEM AND HOW TO FIX IT. IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN, HONDA WILL FIX THE PAINT PROBLEM AND WARRANTY THE PAINT FOR 7 YEARS. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PAINT TO PRIMER ADHESION ISSUE. WITHOUT A SOLID PAINT COVERING ON THE VAN, IT WILL RUST PREMATURELY AND LOSE VALUE VERY FAST. THIS PAINT TO PRIMER ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD AMONG MANY HONDA VEHICLES AND MODEL YEARS AND COLORS YET THE SERVICE BULLETIN ONLY MENTIONS PAINT PEELING ON DARK BLUE 2003-2005 ODYSSEYS BUILT AT THE ALABAMA PLANT WITH VINS STARTING WITH 5FN . MY ODYSSEY IS A 2007 WITH LIGHT BLUE PAINT, WAS BUILT AT THE SAME ALABAMA PLANT AND MY VIN STARTS WITH 5FN . I HAVE THE SAME PAINT ISSUE AND THE PICTURES OF PEELING PAINT IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN ARE EXACTLY LIKE MY PROBLEM AND IN EXACTLY THE SAME SPOTS. CLEARLY THE PAINT PROBLEM IS MORE WIDESPREAD THAN HONDA IS WILLING TO ADMIT. PLEASE BRING THIS ISSUE IN BEHALF OF MANY HONDA OWNERS TO HONDA'S ATTENTION AND I HOPE THEY WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX OUR CARS AND FIX THE POTENTIAL PAINT PEELING PROBLEMS OF NEW CARS. *TR
WHEN I OPENED THE REAR POWER LIFTGATE, IT GOT ALMOST COMPLETELY OPEN AND THEN UNEXPECTEDLY CLOSED WHILE MAKING A BEEPING SOUND. IT WOULD HAVE CLOSED ON MY HEAD IF I DIDN'T JUMP OUT OF THE WAY FAST ENOUGH. I TRIED IT AGAIN USING THE REMOTE AGAIN AND THEN W/ THE LIFTGATE BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD AND IT CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION. *TR
FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION DUE TO (IN DEALER'S WORDS) "A CRACK OR POROUS METAL CASING." THIS IS AT LEAST THE THIRD REPAIR OF THE TRANSMISSION. TWO PREVIOUS EPISODES OF TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKAGE WERE DEEMED BY THE DEALER "CAUSED BY A LOOSE BOLT." THE FIRST TIME SHORTLY AFTER VEHICLE DELIVERY BOLT WAS TIGHTEN, SECOND TIME BOLT WAS TIGHTEN AND SET WITH LOCK TIGHT WHICH REQUIRED OVERNIGHT STAY AT DEALER SERVICE CENTER. THIRD TIME, ENTIRE TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED- BEING COVERED UNDER DEALER SUPPLIED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WITH A $25 DEDUCTIBLE. *TR
FAILURE OF FRONT A/C CONDENSER BY A SUPPOSED "ROCK" IMPACT RESULTING IN LOSS OF REFRIGERANT AND A/C SERVICE. I CONTEND THIS IS RELATED TO DESIGN DEFECT OF THE FRONT BUMPERS AND LACK OF GRILL IN LARGE OPENING. HONDA PROVIDED NO COMPENSATION AND EXTENDED WARRANTY REFUSED BY STATING "DEALER STATED ROCK IMPACT IS CONSIDERED A COLLISION UNDER WARRANTY" A GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH MANY MODELS OF HONDA, NOT JUST ODYSSEY. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L-TRANSMISSION IS SHUDDERING WHILE DRIVING AT 30-40 MPH. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN I SLOW DOWN THEN PRESS ON THE GAS AGAIN. IT FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS. I ALSO NOTICED THAT IT HAPPENED TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME AT 55 MPH. I ALSO NOTICE THAT THE CAR "PULLS" BACK SLIGHTLY WHEN I AM DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS--IT FEELS LIKE I AM LETTING MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL, BUT I AM NOT. I TOOK THE VAN INTO A HONDA DEALERSHIP ON MAY 8, 2010. THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND SAID THAT THE VAN WAS RUNNING FINE, BUT IT IS STILL GIVING ME PROBLEMS. I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO HONDA OF SERRAMONTE IN DALY CITY, CA ON MAY 22, 2010. I AM NOT HAPPY--THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRES AT 60, 000 MILES--VAN HAS 57,600 MILES. I HOPE HONDA WILL TAKE CARE OF MY PROBLEMS BEFORE MY WARRANTY EXPIRES! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WHEN THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SUBMITTED A LETTER TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
NO CRASHES KNOWN TO ME AT THIS DATE. CONDITION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL APPROACHING THE FLOOR BOARD DURING THE INITAL APPLICATION HAS BEEN EVIDENT FOR PROBABLY FOR A YEAR. THE PEDAL HEIGHT INCREASES WITH REPEATED PEDAL APPLICATIONS BUT AFTER A SHORT PERIOD THE LOSS OF CORRECT BRAKE APPLICATION FOR THE STOP NEEDED REQUIRED IS AGAIN REPEATED BY THE EXCESS DROP OF BRAKE PEDAL. WITH THE PEDAL AT ITS LOWEST TRAVEL POINT CONTACT WITH THE GAS PEDAL CAN OCCUR. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN THE RESERVOIR WAS ALWAYS CORRECT; BRAKE CLIPPERS AND PADS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION; NO FLIUD LEAKS ARE EVIIDENT AT TH RESEVOIR;CALIPER CONNECTIONS; OR FLUID LEAKS WHICHMIGHT BE SEEN AT ANY FLIUD LINE CONNECTERS.

MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY AIR CONDITION STOPPED BLOWING COLD I TOOK IT TO A THE DEALER THAY SAID A ROCK HIT THE AC CONDENSER THAY SAID IT WOULD COST $900 TO FIX I ASKED TO SEE THE HOLE IT WAS BEHIND A PIPE WITCHED LOOKED LIKE HAD RUBBED AGAINST THE CONDENSER THE DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE THE CONDENSER

TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS IN ALL GEARS WHILE ON THE THROTTLE. USUALLY SPEEDS BETWEEN 20-50 MPH...VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO HONDA. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT HAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS GETTING BOTH SLIDING DOORS TO LOCK PROPERLY BEFORE THE PASSENGER DOOR OPENED WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH ROLLER ASSEMBLIES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER DOOR HAD NOT POPPED OPEN BUT THAT BOTH DOORS WERE STILL HARD TO LOCK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 55-65 MPH. UNEXPECTEDLY, BOTH REAR INTERIOR DOORS AJARED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE DEFECTIVE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE CLOSURE MOTORS. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $1,000. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. *TR
I HAVE A HONDA 2007 ODYSSEY AND THE ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS NEED TO BE CHANGED, AND I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD THE VAN SINCE NOV. 20/2006 I ALWAYS DRIVE THE VAN EVERY WHERE HOW CAN THIS BE TO A NEW VAN? I WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF 1200$ TO FIX. THIS MAY BE A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT NOT SURE HOW MUCH OF ONE, BUT WHEN STOPPING IS CONCERNED IT IS SERIOUS. *TR

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, [XXX] THAT HAS AN ECO(ECONOMY) MODE FEATURE THAT SHUTS OFF 3 CYLINDERS ELECTRONICALLY TO SAVE MILEAGE. A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK AROUND 40 MPH OR WHEN THE ECO MODE KICKED IN. I TOOK THE CAR TO BE SERVICED AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP NAME IS SOUTH MOTORS HONDA [XXX] THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH CAR. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO WORSEN OVER THE NEXT MONTH SO I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK FOR SERVICING. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE THAT CONTROLS THE ECO MODE. A FEW DAYS AFTER PICKUPING UP MY CAR FROM SERVICE, MARCH 5, THE PROBLEM IS NOW MUCH WORSE. THE CAR NOT ONLY JERKS NOW, BUT IS ALSO UNRESPONSIVE WHEN THE ECO MODE TURNS OFF AND ON. THIS UNRESPONSIVENESS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO 2 ACCIDENTS. THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN DENIED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE CAR ONLY HAS ~37,000 MILES AND THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO DENY THAT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE CAR..IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GET WORSE, I AM CERTAIN THAT IS SAFETY ISSUE WILL RESULT IN A ACCIDENT..ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR
ON MARCH 2010 I FIRST TOOK THE CAR INTO DEALER (BEAVERTON HONDA) TO INDICATE THAT WHENEVER I APPLY BRAKES GOING SLOWER THAN 25MPH THERE IS A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN BACK AT THE SAME DEALER FOR SAME ISSUE NOW FOR THE 6TH TIME. AND ON LAST FRIDAY (SEP. 2010) WHEN I WENT FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH TECHNICIAN I WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND HE SAID HE KNEW OF THE ISSUE AND LIKELY TO BE COMING FROM REAR. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR THEY SAID THAT THEY ADJUSTED THE PARKING BRAKE AS PER TECH LINE SERVICE ARTICLE FROM JUNE 2009 BUT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. HENCE HONDA TECH LINED INFORMED THE DEALER THAT IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY ARE WORKING ON IT AND IF THERE IS A FIX THEY WILL NOTIFY ME. UNFORTUNATELY, WHATEVER THEY DID ON FRIDAY MADE IT 10X WORSE AS NOW IT'S HAPPENING 90-95% OF THE TIME. EVEN WHEN I AM LET GO OF THE BRAKES FROM STOP AND THEN APPLY THE BRAKES GOING 1-2MPS IT MAKES THAT AWFUL NOISE. SO I WENT BACK TO THE DEAR TODAY. THEY JUST CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THEY THINK THAT REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND THE FRONT ROTORS SHOULD FIX IT BUT NO GUARANTEES SINCE HONDA TECH LINE SAYS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE SAME DEALER ABOUT A MOTH AND HALF AGO (6/23/2010) TOLD ME THAT REPLACING ALL FRONT/BACK BREAK PADS WILL FIX THE ISSUE BUT IT DIDN'T. SO NOW WITHIN 1.5 MONTHS THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE FRONT BREAK PADS ALONG WITH THE FRONT ROTORS AND THEY ARE NOT GUARANTEEING IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE CALLED AMERICAN HONDA ON OPENED A CASE AS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND MY WIFE SAYS SHE WON'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL IT'S FIXED. THIS ISSUE STARTED AFTER THEY APPLIED THE SAFETY RECALL ON THE 2007 ODYSSEY REGARDING "SOFT BRAKES". JUST BEFORE THEY APPLIED THAT SAFETY RECALL THE DEALER HAD ALSO FOUND MY FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE PREMATURELY WRAPPED AND RESURFACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. THUS, IT SEEMS THERE IS A CONTINUED ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR OF HONDA ODYSSEY. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY AND THE SLIDING DOORS DO NOT LATCH PROPERLY, WHICH COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN SITTING IN THE CAR. I GET AN AUDIBLE CHIME TELLING ME "A" DOOR IS AJAR, BUT NO WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH. WHEN I COME TO A STOP BY HITTING THE BREAKS I HEAR THE DOOR FINALLY CLOSE. THIS IS A VERY SCARY KNOWING THAT I COULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY DOORS COULD SLIDE OPEN AT ANYTIME. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES IN WHICH THEY HAVE REPLACED A FAILED DOOR LATCH AND TIGHTENED THE CHAIN AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. THE REAR HATCH OF MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING VAN SUDDENLY FELL ON MY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AS SHE WAS LEANING INTO THE CARGO AREA OF THE VAN. THE IT APPEARS THAT THE STRUTS DESIGNED TO HOLD THE DOOR OPENED FAILED. THE DOOR WEIGHS AT LEAST 50 POUNDS. *TR

2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACED AFTER ONLY APPROXIMATELY 27,000 MILES. I NOW HAVE APPROXIMATELY 33,500 MILES AND SAME PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION HAS BEGUN. NOTICEABLE FLUTTER AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND A SERIOUS SHIFTING DOWNGRADE AT 20 MPH WHEN FOOT IS OFF ACCELERATOR. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THEY WOULD UPDATE COMPUTER AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK THEN THEY WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERSION. *TR
TRANSMISSION JUDDERING AND HESITATES BETWEEN 30MPH-50MPH. THIS HAS BECOME A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ENTERING THE HIGHWAY OR MAKING MANEUVERS THAT REQUIRES A QUICK INCREASE IN SPEED. THE HESITATION AND JUDDERING CREATES A VERY LARGE VIBRATION THROUGH THE ENTIRE MINIVAN. OUR ODYSSEY HAS HAD TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES AND IT APPEARS THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED NEXT. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE IT HAD 5,000 MILES. WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AT THE 10K SERVICE, HOWEVER, THE DEALER SAID THAT THE ISSUE WAS PROBABLY FUEL RELATED. HOWEVER, ONE SERVICE MANAGER AT A LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP TOLD US IT IS MOST LIKELY A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THERE WAS NO KNOWN FIX FOR IT AT THE TIME. SINCE THEN HONDA HAS IDENTIFIED TWO SOFTWARE UPDATES THAT ARE REQUIRED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND IF THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED NEXT. WHAT WE HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD IS THAT IF THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAS BEEN BAD FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME IT WILL START PUTTING OUT METAL SHAVINGS THAT WILL GET INTO THE GEARS OF THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, HONDA WILL NOT COVER A NEW TRANSMISSION UNLESS IT CAN BE PROVEN THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED, THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DO UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION IS TRULY SHOWING SIGNS OF FAILURE OR ENOUGH OIL SHAVINGS CAN BE FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION OIL. IT SEEMS THAT THE CONSENSUS IS THAT ODYSSEYS WITH THIS PROBLEM WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE A SHORTEN LIFE SPAN OF THEIR TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON OUR ODYSSEY. MY OPINION IS HONDA IS TRYING PATCH A PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES MAJOR SURGERY WITH BAND AIDS, HOPING THEY CAN GET BEYOND THEIR REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITY UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I GUESS UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED, THIS WILL NOT BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. THIS IS A SHAME WE HAVE OWNED A HONDA OR ACURA FOR THE LAST TWENTY YEARS AND THEIR REPUTATION HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. *TR

WHEN BRAKING, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS UNUSUALLY FARTHER TO THE FLOOR THAN NORMAL, AND LEADS TO IMPROPER AND EXTRAORDINARY BRAKING TECHNIQUES NECESSARY TO SAFELY EXECUTE A STOP. PUTTING THIS VEHICLE INTO THE HANDS OF A MINIMALLY EXPERIENCED YOUNG DRIVER COULD RESULT IN UNEXPECTED VEHICLE PERFORMANCE AND LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS IS BY NO MEANS "STANDARD" OR "NORMAL" AS MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER SAYS IT IS. THIS IS NOT IN LINE WITH OTHER HONDA VEHICLES, EITHER; IT IS AN ABERRATION THEY ARE NOT ADDRESSING. MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS TWICE HAD THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM. BOTH TIMES IT WAS IN CONDITIONS WHERE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE (PRESUMABLY) ENGAGED: ONCE COMING TO STOP ON A VERY WET STREET IN RAIN, AND THE SECOND ON A VERY SNOWY, POOR TRACTION STREET. BOTH TIMES I WAS BRAKING HARDER THAN USUAL WHILE DECELERATING TO COME UP TO A STOP SIGN/LIGHT AND THE ABS ENGAGED. THE INITIAL SLOWING WAS FINE, NO SLIPPING, BUT AS I DECELERATED THROUGH ABOUT 3-5 MPH, THE BRAKES REFUSED TO WORK. I PRESSED THE PEDAL HARDER BUT THE BRAKES WOULD NO LONGER ENGAGE. I WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY, BUT UNABLE TO STOP (AND THIS WAS NOT DUE TO ROAD SURFACE, IT WAS DUE TO THE BRAKES REFUSING TO ENGAGE). THE FIRST TIME I NARROWLY AVOIDED HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE SECOND TIME I JUST CONTINUED FORWARD HALFWAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I AM A COMMERCIAL PILOT AND IT FELT LIKE THE ANTILOCK BRAKES HAD RELEASED, AND THEN REFUSED TO RE-ENGAGE. I TRIED PUMPING THEM AS WELL. NO RESPONSE. THE PEDAL STILL HAD BRAKING FEEL, JUST NO BRAKE ENGAGEMENT. PERHAPS THE ABS SHOULD CUT OUT BELOW 2 MPH OR SOME PRESET NUMBER AND THIS DID NOT HAPPEN? 2007 ODYSSEY, BOUGHT ON 18 JAN 2010 FROM DCH ACADEMY HONDA, OLD BRIDGE, NJ AS A USED VEHICLE. ON THE SAME WEEK REPORTED THAT THERE IS PROBLEM IN TRANSMISSION. WHEN ACCELERATING AT 40MPH TO 50MPH, THERE A VIBRATION OBSERVED CONSTANTLY AND TRANSMISSION IS GETTING LOCKED AT 1.5RPM AND NOT GETTING ACCELERATING. WHEN IT GOT REPORTED TO USED CAR DEPARTMENT, MECHANIC WAS KEEP ON SAYING THAT IT IS INTENDED BEHAVIOR WHILE ACCELERATING AND BECAUSE OF BIG VEHICLE. I WAS NOT AGREED AND CONCERN WAS PASSED ON TO THE SERVICE MANAGER IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SERVICE MANAGER AFTER GOING THROUGH THE TEST DRIVE AND SERVICE BULLETINS, HE IS TOLD THAT THERE NEED TO BE SOFTWARE UPGRADE NEEDED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. SOFTWARE UPGRADE IS PERFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE. NOW THE VIBRATION IS LITTLE BIT REDUCED, BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL EXISTS. AGAIN I HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR TEST DRIVE AND THERE WERE TWO SERVICE MANAGERS TESTED THIS VEHICLE AND AFTER REGRESSIVE TEST ALONG WITH THEM, THEY AGREED THAT VIBRATION AT 40-50MPH SPEED AND 1.5-2RPM TORQUE. NOW THEY SAID THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH TORQUE CONVERTER IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER GETTING THE PART FROM HONDA. I AM NOT TOTALLY CONFIDENT THAT REPLACEMENT OF TORQUE CONVERTER CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THEY ARE JUST MAKING SOME PATCH TO TEMPORARILY MASK THE MAIN PROBLEM IN TRANSMISSION. IT WILL COST ME MORE ONCE MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY GETS EXPIRED. THIS PROBLEM MAY CAUSE FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION AND MAY CAUSE ACCIDENT AT RUN TIME. *TR
