WE HAVE 3 MY 07 HONDA ODYSSEY VANS AND TWO OF THEM HAVE HAD THE BRAKE MODULATORS REPLACED DUE TO LOSS OF PEDAL AND IN ONE CASE GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I HAVEN'T HAD THIS VAN IN YET TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPLACE THE MODULATOR BUT ON THIS VAN THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS TO GO DOWN FARTHER THAN IT SHOULD. I HASN'T EXHIBITED THE INSTANCES OF THE OTHER VANS BUT ONE HAS TO WONDER IS IT ONLY A MATTER OF TIME? I MY SELF HAVE FELT THE PEDDLE SOMEWHAT SQUISHY. I AM WONDERING WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON THIS DUE TO HONDA HAS A TECH BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD 2 OUT OF THE 3 FIXED, THOSE AREN'T VERY GOOD ODDS. I PLAN ON TAKING IN THIS VAN AND SEE IF THEY WILL REPLACE IT. *TR
SINCE I BOUGHT THE MINIVAN ODYSSEY NEW IT HAD TROUBLE WITH THE RACK AND PINION, IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT UP TO THIS DATE STILL HAS PROBLEMS, I HAVE GONE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME IT GOT A LOOSE SCREW BUT WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT GIVES A KNOCKING SOUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE TOWARDS AN EXIT, THE CONTACT STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND REPAIRED USING USAA INSURANCE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS BELONGED TO TAKATA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS OF THE 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L ENTRAPPED MY 5 YEAR OLDS LEFT HAND AT THE BACK OF THE DOOR. HE HAS SWELLING, BRUISING, AND ABRASIONS. IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THERE IS PERMANENT DAMAGE. HOWEVER, THE PROXIMITY OF THE SEAT AND SEAT BELT TO THE REAR DOOR JAM IS CONDUCIVE FOR THIS TYPE OF INJURY. THE DOOR SHOULD IMMEDIATELY REVERSE IF IT ENCOUNTERS ANY RESISTANCE TO CLOSING AT ANY PART OF THE DOOR. IT CURRENTLY ONLY STOPS IT'S MOTION IF THE FRONT PART OF THE DOOR ENCOUNTERS SIGNIFICANT FORCE. *TR
THE REAR BRAKES OF OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY, TOURING HAS BEEN SQUEAKING EVEN AFTER IT WAS TAKEN TO NORM REEVES HONDA OF CERRITOS, CA. I ALSO CALLED HONDA CORPORATION, OF TORRANCE, CA AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE'S NO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES. TO THIS DAY, OUR ODYSSEY STILL SQUEAKS AND I'M AFRAID THAT IT WILL JUST BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT FAILS AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY IN IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKES WERE FAILING ON HER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED AND ROLLS FOUR TO FIVE ADDITIONAL FEET BEFORE FINALLY STOPPING. IF THE VEHICLE IS ON AN INCLINE, IT ROLLS BACK EVEN THOUGH SHE IS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE DESIGNED TO PERFORM IN THAT MANNER. THE CONTACT ADDED THAT THE VEHICLE ALWAYS ROLLS BACK WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH IS UNSAFE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,508.
I OWN A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY AND HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES FOR SOME TIME. THEY FEEL VERY SOFT AND "SPONGY" WHEN I STEP ON THEM; MY FOOT SINKS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INSTANCES WHERE I HAVE ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE THE BRAKES DO NOT RESPOND. THE BRAKES ALSO GRIND VERY HARD AND SOUND VERY LOUD WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL. ALSO, WHEN I TRY TO STOP OR SLOW THE VAN WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS (SUCH AS HIGHWAY DRIVING), MY STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES VIOLENTLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE MECHANIC AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY BRAKE PADS ARE FINE (50% FRONT, 60% REAR), BUT THAT MY ROTORS HAVE WORN PREMATURELY. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER STEERING--I TOOK THE VAN IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME MANEUVERING THE VAN IN TIGHT SITUATIONS (PARKING)--IT TURNS OUT THAT MY POWER STEERING PUMP WAS NOT OPERATING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (AT 36,267 MILES)--267 MILES OVER THE HONDA NEW CAR WARRANTY. *TR
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND BRAKING IS LAGGING HAS ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE ALERTED DEALER OF THIS DEFECT AND DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR. *TR
MY BRAKE GOES NEARLY TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT IS PRESSED HARD. NORMALLY AT REST IT IS 5 INCHES FROM THE FLOOR AND WHEN I PUSH IT HARD IT GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 2 INCHES FROM THE FLOOR. I BROUGHT IT INTO MY DEALER AND COMPLAINED THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. IT WAS RETURNED TO ME WITH A NOTATION THAT IT WAS TEST DRIVEN AND THE PEDAL TRAVEL IS NORMAL. THE MECHANIC DROVE ANOTHER ODYSSEY AND FOUND IT TO BE THE SAME. NOTE THAT IF MY FOOT WAS OFF TO THE RIGHT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL,WHEN PUSHED HARD THAT IT WOULD HIT THE ACCELERATOR ALSO WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP. IF THIS IS THE SAME IN ALL ODYSSEYS, IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
I PARKED MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER RUNNING ERRANDS - DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES. I HEARD A HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THE NOISE WAS FREON ESCAPING FROM THE COMPRESSOR (AIR CONDITIONER). THEY 'THINK' A SMALL ROCK MAY HAVE PENETRATED THE CONDENSER ALTHOUGH NO ROCK WAS FOUND. THIS COST TO REPLACE THIS PART IS $725 AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. THE AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT A ROCK MUST HAVE HIT THE CONDENSER AND PUT A SMALL HOLE IN IT. BECAUSE IT WAS "DAMAGED" THE DEALER SAYS THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE. THE REPAIR COST IS $900. FROM READING THE STORIES ON THE WEB, IT SOUNDS LIKE I AM NOT ALONE IN HAVING EASY DAMAGE TO HONDA ODYSSEY AIR CONDITIONERS WITH DEALERS CLAIMING THAT IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT STEAM ABNORMALLY EMITS IN HIS VEHICLE AND THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS INOPERATIVE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND A HOLE IN THE AIR CONDENSER. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,000.
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKES SYSTEM. CONSUMER STATES THAT AIR MAY ENTER THE BRAKE SYSTEMS MODULATOR. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HE FINALLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE BRAKES AFTER THREE YEARS OF EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES FOR BRAKE ISSUES. ON MAY 7, 2009 THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AND CONSEQUENTLY SHE HAD AN ACCIDENT. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND YET THE BRAKES WERE UNRESPONSIVE.*JB
I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES DOWN NEARLY TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE PEDAL IS PUSHED HARD. I FIRST NOTICED THIS A FEW WEEKS AGO WHEN I WAS WAITING FOR TRAFFIC AS I WAS ENTERING THE STREET FROM A PARKING LOT. MY FOOT WAS PRESSING DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT WAS ALSO NOT DIRECTLY ON THE PEDAL. MY FOOT WAS OFF TO THE RIGHT. AS THE PEDAL PRESSED DOWN HARDER, THE SAME BRAKING FOOT WAS HITTING THE THROTTLE PEDAL THUS ACCELERATING THE ENGINE. THE CAR BRAKES FINE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC AND OPERATION. I AM FEARFUL THAT IF I OR SOMEONE ELSE USING THE CAR WOULD MAKE A PANIC STOP AND NOT HAVE THEIR FOOT DIRECTLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THAT THEY COULD ACTUALLY PUSH THE THROTTLE MAKING THE CAR ACCELERATE INSTEAD OF STOP. I SHOWED THE SITUATION TO THE DEALER FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT WAS THEIR OPINION THAT ALL IS NORMAL AND THAT OTHER CARS LIKE MINE DO THE SAME THING. I VISITED ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY TOO SAID THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NORMAL. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 DRIVER SEAT BELT STOPPED WORKING, DEALER AT FIRST WANTED TO SEND ME HOME WITHOUT SEAT BELT, AFTER I REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR , THEY GAVE ME A RENT A CAR FOR REPAIRS. ALSO BRAKE SYSTEM NOT WORKING PROPERLY , MULTIPLE PREVIOUS MENTIONS TO THE DEALER THAT BREAKS ARE SOFT, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT ANY THING BAD AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO ALSO STEERING PUMP PROBLEMS WENT BAD AT 34,000 ,MILES AND THEY SAID IT WILL COST 700 DOLLARS TO FIX , STEERING VERY HARD AND NOT SAFE, UNABLE TO STEER QUICKLY AND AVOID OBJECTS ON THE ROAD. *TR
TPMS WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON. AFTER 6 VISITS TO THE HONDA DEALER AND MULTIPLE DIAGNOSIS, STILL UNRESOLVED AND THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. TPMS SENSOR HAS BEEN CHANGED TWICE ON TWO DIFFERENT WHEELS, SYSTEM RESET AND THE WARNING LIGHT COMES BACK ON WITH A FEW DAYS OR 100 MILES AND WILL NOT GO OFF. DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHY THIS GOV.'T MANDATED SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOURS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED THREE TIMES AND REPLACED ONCE. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED BY THE DEALER. 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY - PROBLEM IS THE VEHICLE / TIRE DESIGN. THE VAN HAS THE MICHELIN PAX TIRES; THE COMBINATION OF THE VAN AND TIRES RESULTS IN RIDICULOUS POOR TREAD LIFE RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE REPLACEMENT COSTS. OUR VEHICLE HAS 36K MILES. WE HAVE HAD ONE TIRE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT HAD TO PAY OVER $100 IN LABOR ONLY TO REPLACE THE TIRE. IN DECEMBER OF 2008, I REPLACED TWO FRONT TIRES (OVER $300 PER TIRE) PLUS PAID MONEY TO GET ALL 4-WHEELS ALIGNED (AS A SECURITY MEASURE TO MINIMIZE ANY POSSIBLE TIRE WEAR). 3-MONTHS LATER, MY TWO REAR TIRES HAD AN EXCESSIVE WEAR PATTERN ON THE INSIDE WALL. ONE OF THE TIRES IS ONLY 9-MONTHS OLD!! THE DEALER IS TELLING ME I NEED TO REPLACE BOTH TIRES AT A TOTAL COST OF $700 - THIS WEAR PATTERN WAS SOON AFTER THE DEALER ALIGNMENT. WHAT MAKES MATTERS WORSE IS THAT HONDA WILL NOT ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO REPLACE THE PAX TIRE SYSTEM WITH ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE SO THE CONSUMER IS FORCED TO PAY EXCESSIVE LABOR COSTS TO REPLACE TIRES THAT HAVE VERY POOR WEAR PATTERNS AND POOR TIRE LIFE. THE CONSUMER IS "STUCK" WITH CONTINUOUS REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT COSTS. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE OUR TIRES YET THE DEALER TELLS US THE TIRES MUST BE REPLACED DUE TO POOR WEAR ON ONE SIDE OF EACH TIRE (EVEN THOUGH THEY ADVERTISE THE TIRE AS A "SAFE PRODUCT"??). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, AN OCCUPANT WAS SECURED IN A SEAT BELT AND LOCATED IN THE THIRD ROW OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE OCCUPANT WAS UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE SEAT BELT. THE SEAT BELT WEBBING WAS CUT TO RELEASE THE OCCUPANT. THE SEAT BELT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,500.
SHUDDERING STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PULSING STARTING AT 18K MILES. DEALER SAYS THE ROTORS ARE WARPED, THOUGH BRAKE PADS HAVE OVER 75% LIFE LEFT. IN ALL OUR YEARS OF DRIVING WE'VE NEVER HAD ROTORS NEEDING TURNING OR REPAIRING IN LESS THAN 40K MILES. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT TO ME THAT HONDA WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY SOFT BRAKES. PEDAL MUST GO TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY - 3/28/09. NOTICED AC WAS NOT WORKING. ON 4/6/09 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE SERVICE REP INDICATED IT WAS A SMALL HOLE IN THE CONDENSER, MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY A ROAD HAZARD (ROCK), AND NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I PAID FOR THE $1060 REPAIR. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, I WAS TOLD BY COWORKERS IT IS A NOTORIOUS DESIGN ISSUE. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY A QUICK VISIT TO GOOGLE. THE DEALERSHIP MADE NO MENTION OF THE COMMON OCCURRENCE. HOPEFULLY WITH ENOUGH COMPLAINTS, HONDA WILL BE FORCED TO ADMIT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND OFFER SOME FORM OF HELP. PLEASE ADD ME TO THE LIST OF IMPACTED OWNERS. I INSTRUCTED THE SERVICE REP TO MOVE FORWARD WITH REPAIRS AT 9:30AM. BY 2:30PM I WAS PICKING UP THE VEHICLE. $1060, WITH $516 OF THAT FOR LABOR. IF IT'S DETERMINED TO BE A LIMITED PROBLEM, I HAVE NO ISSUES; HOWEVER, EVERYTHING I READ INDICATES A PROBLEM WHERE SIGNIFICANT OWNERS ARE BEING AFFECTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED THERE WAS A METAL TO METAL SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER PRIOR TO THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A CORK IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH IS A PART OF THE MANUFACTURER DESIGN; AS A RESULT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE REAR BRAKES AND DUST BUILD UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. SHE NOTICED A HESITATION IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30 TO 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO HESITATE WHENEVER IT REACHED 40 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT HER SINCE THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,068. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. IN MARCH 2009, SHE NOTICED A NOISE AROUND THE WHEEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE LEFT WHEEL BEARING WAS REPAIRED. IN DECEMBER 2009, SHE NOTICED THE SAME SOUND ALONG WITH A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WHICH SHE NOTED AS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. SHE STATED THAT AT LOW SPEEDS, SHE ACTUALLY LOST POWER STEERING CAPABILITIES AND HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE; THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED AS WELL IN REFERENCE TO THE ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE FOR THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRS SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE POWER STEERING AT NO CHARGE. THEY OFFERED HER 25% OFF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000. UPDATED 02/13/10 *BF UPDATED 02/16/10.*JB UPDATED 02/18/10.*JB
HONDA ODYSSEY. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHINES, BUZZES OR HUMS. HONDA ISSUED A BULLETIN (HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 07-005 APPLICABLE TO ALL 05-07 AND SOME 08 VANS) STATING THE POWER STEERING PUMP RESERVOIR IS DEFECTIVE, REQUIRING A NEW PUMP, FILTER AND FLUID. HOWEVER, THEY WILL ONLY PROVIDE REPLACEMENT IF UNDER WARRANTY. MY CONCERN IS THE METAL SHAVING OR OTHER PARTICLES MY IMPACT THE STEERING AND CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL. *TR

I HAVE A HONDA ODYSSEY 2009. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP COMPLETELY LAST WINTER APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY BRAKED. OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EXPERIENCED REAR BRAKE FAILURE AT 2,700 MILES DUE TO RUST BUILD-UP ON THE ROTORS. THEY WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE REAR ROTORS AGAIN FAILED AT 17,820 MILES AND HAD TO BE RESURFACED. WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE POTENTIAL FOR CONTINUED FAILURE CREATING AN UNSAFE CONDITION. *TR

I LIVE IN A CITY AND A FEW TIMES AT NIGHT WHILE LEAVING A VERY LIT AREA, I HAVE FAILED TO TURN ON MY HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE WITH THE DASHLIGHTS ON I HAVE FORGOTTEN. WHILE THESE OCCURRENCES WERE MY ERROR, I FEEL THAT WITH CAR LIGHTING IT NEEDS TO BE ALL OR NOTHING. WHILE THE MANUFACTURERS MAY SEE THIS FEATURE AS A CONVENIENCE I SEE IT AS A HAZARD. IF THE DASH LIGHTS ARE ON ALL OF THE TIME, THEN THE HEADLIGHTS SHOULD BE ON. DRIVING WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS ON AT NIGHT IS HAZARDOUS TO ALL AROUND AND AS I SAID, I LIVE IN A CITY WHERE IT IS BRIGHTLY LIT AND MANY TIMES THE STREETS ARE SO BRIGHT MY HEADLIGHTS DO NOT MAKE THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE FOR MY LIGHTING BUT RATHER JUST MAKE ME NOTICEABLE TO OTHERS. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RECTIFIED. I KNOW THAT OTHER CARS HAVE AN AUTO FUNCTION, WHERE THE HEADLIGHTS CAN BE LEFT ON ALL OF THE TIME TO GO ON WHEN IT GETS DARK AND THIS WOULD BE A SAFER FEATURE THAN HAVING THEM MANUALLY OPERATED WHEN THE DASH LIGHTS ARE ON ALL OF THE TIME. GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS WAS VERY AUDIBLE IN THE CABIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN ONCE AND DEALERSHIP ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY AND BEGAN STOPPING AS I APPROACHED AN ALREADY STOPPED VEHICLE. I BEGAN MY STOP EARLY TO MAKE SURE I HAD ENOUGH SPACE TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS FELT SOFT/SPONGY. I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE MINI VAN SLOWED DOWN BUT THE PEDAL CONTINUED TO GO TO THE FLOOR. THEN THE MINI VAN ROLLED AS IF THE BRAKES WERE NOT ON AT ALL. I HAD TO RELEASE THE PEDAL AND DEPRESS IT AGAIN. AT THIS TIME I HAD TO STEER THE MINI VAN TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR THAT WAS IN FRONT OF ME TO AVOID HITTING IT. AFTER THAT EVENT I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME AND TO THE DEALER. AFTER TELLING MY WIFE ABOUT THE EVENT SHE SAID THAT SHE THOUGHT IT HAD HAPPENED TO HER BEFORE. THE DEALER CHECKED THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEY CALLED HONDA AND HONDA HAD THEM REPLACE THE ABS MODULATOR AND BLEED THE SYSTEM. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY INCIDENT AND I COULD ONLY HOPE THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED. JANUARY 5TH, 2009 I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT I BELIEVE WAS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE BRAKE ISSUE WITH MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THE "SOFT AND MUSHY" BRAKES TO THIS SITE AND TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. ON THE EVENING OF THE ACCIDENT, I SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP AFTER THE PANIC STOP OF A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, DUE TO ANOTHER TURNING DRIVER. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP THE VAN IN TIME. THIS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHERE I REAR-ENDED THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO HER CAR AND MINE WITH MY AIRBAG DEPLOYING. THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES HAS BEEN ONE THAT I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT TO MULTIPLE HONDA DEALERS AND THEY HAVE IGNORED, ALWAYS SAYING THAT THEY WERE WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. I HAVE DRIVEN VANS FOR 17 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THE BRAKING PROBLEMS WITH ANY OTHERS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURES. THE DEALER REMOVED AIR FROM THE HYDRAULIC FLUID, BUT THE REPAIR DIDN'T CORRECT THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE WHEELS WERE ALIGNED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE STEERING FAILURE WASN'T CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SKID ABNORMALLY DURING ANY TYPE OF WEATHER CLIMATE. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT 6,000 MILES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIRES MUST BE USED WITH A CERTAIN VEHICLE AND ANY OTHER TIRES WOULD NOT SUPPORT THE VEHICLE. HE ALSO STATED THAT IF SHE WERE TO DISMOUNT THE TIRES, IT WOULD VOID HER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE ALL SEASON BUT NOT MADE FOR DRIVING IN THE SNOW. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,910.
MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY'S AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING, THE VAN HAS ONLY 11,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT A ROCK HAD HIT THE AC CONDENSER AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I FEEL THAT THEIR ASSESSMENT OF THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM TO BE VERY SUBJECTIVE, JUST HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT A ROCK CAUSED THE PROBLEM WITH NO VISIBLE DAMAGE.. I WAS TOLD THE PART WOULD COST $800.00 AND IT WOULD BE ORDERED. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM THAT IS PROBABLY DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN. THE OWNER'S MANUAL DOES NOT STATE THIS LIMITATION. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT WITH A VERY SLIGHT DOWNHILL GRADE I APPLIED THE BRAKES, WHICH SEEMED TO HAVE LITTLE EFFECT ON STOPPING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. I PUSHED VERY HARD ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED BEFORE HITTING THE SUV PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. ONLY THEN DID I HEAR THAT THE MOTOR WAS REVVED UP. UPON RELEASING THE BRAKES THE MOTOR RETURNED BACK TO IDLE. I, AT THAT POINT, REALIZED THAT I WAS INADVERTENTLY PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, WITH THE SAME FOOT SIMULTANEOUSLY (RIGHT FOOT). I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 29 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. UPON DOING MY OWN INVESTIGATING, I REALIZED THAT WITH THE PROXIMITY OF THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE ACCELERATOR IT WAS POSSIBLE TO BRIDGE THE DISTANCE AND APPLY BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL EASILY ALLOWED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PASS THE ACCELERATOR IDLE POSITION, ESPECIALLY WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH MORE FORCE. I LOOKED AT MY OTHER CARS AND NONE OF THEM WOULD EVER ALLOW THIS SITUATION TO HAPPEN, THE BRAKE PEDAL NEVER PASSES THE ACCELERATOR IDLE POSITION. I NOW UNDERSTOOD WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO ME AND FEEL THAT IT IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY DEFECT. THE MORE YOU PUSH ON THE BRAKES TO STOP THE MORE YOU COULD UNKNOWINGLY PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR. *TR

I DO ALMOST ALL OF MY DRIVING IN TOWN AND WAS REALLY SURPRISED THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO ALREADY FILL IT UP WITH JUST OVER 200 MILES ON IT! I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS SO TRIED IT A COUPLE MORE TIMES WITH HIGH OCTANE GAS AND STILL THE SAME. THE VAN WAS AT BEST GETTING 9MPG IN TOWN! ( WHEN WE ARE ON THE HIGHWAY IT GETS WHAT THE STICKER SAYS.) I EVEN STARTED TO DRIVE AS CAREFULLY/SLOWLY AS POSSIBLE TO SEE IF ANY CHANGES AND HAD NONE. WE DECIDED TO DRIVE 2 HOURS BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT B/C SOMETHING HAD TO BE WRONG. SINCE WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY WARNING LIGHTS THERE WAS NOT A LOT THE MECHANICS SAID THEY COULD TROUBLESHOOT. THEY PRETTY MUCH HOOKED UP A MACHINE AND DROVE IT AROUND TOWN. THEIR MACHINE SAID WE GOT 12 TO 13 MPG, STILL NOT WHAT THEY CLAIM IT SHOULD BE GETTING BUT AT THIS POINT I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH THAT! THEY SAID THEY CHECKED THE OIL, FUEL INJECTORS , MADE SURE WE WERE PUTTING THE RIGHT KIND OF GAS IN. THEY PRINTED OFF HOW TO CALCULATE MPG, WHICH WE ALREADY KNEW AND SENT US ON OUR MERRY LITTLE WAY TO THE GAS PUMPS! THESE CAR COMPANIES NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE ESTIMATED MPG AND IF A VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THOSE ESTIMATIONS THE CUSTOMER SHOULD AT LEAST BE REFUNDED THE EXTRA AMOUNT THEY ARE HAVING TO PAY FOR GAS. WITH GAS PRICES GOING UP THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY B/C THIS IS THE MAJOR REASON PEOPLE ARE BUYING DIFFERENT VEHICLES RIGHT NOW. WHO AND WHAT IS MAKING SURE THESE MPG ARE NOT BOGUS SO CUSTOMERS AREN'T GETTING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. THERE NEEDS TO BE CUSTOMER PROTECTION ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS. *TR
