THIS IS TO PROMPT AN INVESTIGATE OF 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAKE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD TO BRING OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY BACK TO THE DEAL FOR REPAIR BECAUSE OF BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY VERY SOFT. MY ODYSSEY HAS 6000 MILES ON THIS ONLY AND I BRING IT BACK THREE TIMES ALREADY. I TRULY FEEL THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT SAFE EVEN AFTER THE THIRD TIME. THE DEAL DID REPLACE SOME MODUALS ON THE ANTI LOCKING SYSTEM. BUT THE ODYSSEY BRAKE STILL NOT VERY FIRM AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL NOT STOP IN TIME. *TR
MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 HAS VERY SOFT BRAKES. THE DEALER FIRST SAID IT WAS NORMAL BUT ON THE SECOND VISIT IS KEEPING THE CAR TO BLEED THE BRAKES. THE PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AT TIMES AND THE CAR TAKES ALMOST 200 FEET TO FULLY STOP AT TIMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF SERVICE, I BEGAN TO NOTICE STEAM COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT WHEN I NOTICED IT. THE NEXT DAY, MY VEHICLE NO LONGER HAD A/C. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT A SMALL PEBBLE HAD BROKEN ONE OF THE FINS ON THE AC CONDENSER. IT WOULD COST $850.00 TO FIX IT. THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL WEAR AND TEAR NOTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS. WHAT'S MORE, ONCE I REPLACE THIS, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT ANOTHER PEBBLE WON'T FLY INTO THE GRILLE AGAIN BASED ON IT'S LOCATION. THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER LOSES BIG HERE. WE'VE HAD TO DRIVE AND SAVE FOR 6 MONTHS TO GET THIS REPLACED. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. ENGINE HAS ALWAYS PINGED AND I'M UNSURE IF HONDA ADMITS THERE'S A PROBLEM AND I'M UNSURE IF THEY'RE WORKING ON A RESOLUTION. 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 16,450 MILES HAD BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS FAIL- NOISE AND GRINDING FEEL TO VEHICLE. DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT BEARINGS UNDER WARRANTY. FAILURE OF BEARING COULD HAVE RESULTED IN WHEEL SEIZING. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY CONDENSER HAD A HOLE IN IT CAUSED BY "ROAD DEBRIS". REPAIRMAN SAYS THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH HONDA'S AND IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE CAR IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD AND I AM NOW HAVING TO PAY $1000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS A DESIGN FLAW. PLEASE FORCE HONDA TO RECALL AND PUT A PROTECTION GRILL ON THESE CARS TO PREVENT THIS COMMON OCCURRENCE!!!! *TR
THE VEHICLE WE ARE REPORTING AN ISSUE WITH IS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED LAST OCTOBER SO IT IS LESS THEN 1 YEAR OLD AND HAS LESS THEN 5,000 MILES ON IT. ON TUESDAY 8/12/2008 THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR CLOSED ON MY 2 YEAR OLDS HAND. THE DOOR MALFUNCTIONED IN 2 WAYS A) THE DOOR HAS A SENSOR BUILT IN THAT IF IT MEETS RESISTANCE IT BOUNCES BACK OPEN. IN THIS CASE THE DOOR DID NOT BOUNCE BACK OPEN AS IT SHOULD HAVE AND CLOSED ON MY KIDS HAND. B) ONCE THE DOOR HAD ALREADY CLOSED ON HIS HAND WE COULD NOT GET IT TO OPEN BACK UP AND MY KIDS HAND WAS STILL STUCK IN THE DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE HIT THE OPEN BUTTON OR PULLED ON THE HANDLE. WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE FOR HELP WHO IN TURN SENT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO OPEN EITHER EVEN WITH 4 BIG GUYS PULLING ON IT, THE FIRE MAN HAD TO USE A CROW BAR TO FORCE THE DOOR OPEN. WE TOOK MY SON TO THE HOSPITAL FOR XRAYS AND THEY SAID THAT DUE TO HIS AGE IT IS THE ONLY REASON HE HAS NO BROKEN BONES (AT AGE 2 THE BONES ARE STILL SOFT AND ABLE TO FLEX) THEY DO SUSPECT HE MIGHT HAVE SOME FRACTURES SO THEY PUT HIM IN A SOFT CAST AND TOLD US TO SCHEDULE A VISIT WITH A HAND SURGEON TO INSPECT THE HAND TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO FRACTURES AND TO CHECK HIS GROWTH PALATES. THE FIREMAN, HOSPITAL, AND DOCTORS ALL TOLD US THE SAME THING THAT IF IT HAD BEEN MY 6 OR 4 YEAR OLD WHOSE HAND GOT STUCK WE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH BROKEN BONES. NOW THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US I DID A SEARCH ON LINE AND SEE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SLIDING DOORS ON HONDA ODYSSEY'S ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2000. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HONDA HAS GOTTEN AWAY WITH UP UNTIL NOW. HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUES THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT AND NOT SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG. *TR
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L: POWER STEERING ISSUES THERE IS NO POWER STEERING ASSIST WHEN PARKING AND MOVING AT LOW SPEEDS. ONCE YOU ARE MOVING AT A SLIGHTLY HIGHER SPEED, IT KICKS IN, BUT UNTIL THEN, IT IS AS IF YOU ARE DRIVING WITH NO POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE, AS ONE CAN NEVER TELL WHETHER THERE WILL BE POWER STEERING OR NOT. *TR
MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY LEADS TO EVENTUAL AIR CONDITIONING FAILURE AS CONDENSER IS NOT PROTECTED FROM DEBRIS (SUCH AS ROCKS) HITTING IT AND PUTTING A HOLE IN IT. HUNDREDS, IF NOT MORE, OF OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS BRAKING FROM 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED FORWARD BEFORE STOPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DOWN SHIFTING FROM HIGH GEAR TO LOW GEAR WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, WHICH WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ONE MONTH LATER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL AND THE UPDATES WERE MADE TO THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AFTER 10,000 MILES. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND MODULE (TWICE), AS WELL AS BLEEDING THE LINES OVER 4 ATTEMPTS TO FIX. NOW THEY ARE BEGINNING TO EXPLAIN THAT THIS IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR, EVEN THOUGH THE CHANGE WAS SUDDEN AND DRAMATIC AND THE VEHICLE IS OBVIOUSLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER IN CAR SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD, AND STILL UNDER "FULL WARRANTY." *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLES STABILITY ASSIST "VSA" WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. UNEXPECTEDLY, THE BRAKE SYSTEM BEGAN TO LOCK. THE DRIVER MOVED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITHOUT THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING INDICATOR AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. MOMENTS LATER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE BRAKES WERE UNLOCKED UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKES MELTED AND REPLACED THE CALIPERS AND BRAKE DRUMS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING ODYSSEY ALONG WITH MY KIDS ON A SINGLE LANE CITY ROAD AT THE SPEED OF ~35 MILES/HOUR. I REAR ENDED THE CAR, WHICH RESULTED IN 3 CAR COLLISION. I GOT DISTRACTED FROM THE ROAD FOR 2-3 SEC, WHEN I GOT ATTENTION BACK ON THE I SAW A CAR STOPPED FOR LEFT TURN (NO LEFT TURNOUT). I PUSHED MY BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD, BUT COULDN'T STOP MY VEHICLE, RESULTED IN REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE, WHICH PUSHED HIM, AND CAUSED A HIT TO ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY FAILURE, BUT WHEN I SAW RECALLS RELATED TO THE SOFT BRAKE ISSUES, IT MADE ME RETHINK, THAT INCIDENT HAS SOFT BRAKES ISSUES HAS TO DO A LOT. IN PAST, I TALKED TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE SOFTNESS OF THE BRAKES, THEY TOLD ME THAT VANS ARE BIGGER AND HEAVIER, SO IT TAKES TIME TO STOP THEM' INCIDENT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO MY VAN.. MY OLD BRAKES ARE STILL INTACT, AND I CAN STILL FEEL THE SOFTNESS.. BUT NOW WE DRIVE MUCH MORE CAREFULLY. NOW *TR
BRAKES ARE TOO SOFT/MUSHY. BRAKES DON'T WORK PROPERLY MOST OF THE TIME. IT TAKES INCREASING PRESSURE TO STOP VEHICLE. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD AFTER IT STOPS WHICH CAUSES YOU TO BE OUT IN INTERSECTIONS, PAST STOP SIGNS AND POSSIBLY HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. ON FRIDAY JUNE 6, 08 THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN, THIS TIME AT 60-65 MPH. ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING TOO FAST SWERVING IN & OUT OF TRAFFIC PULLED IN FRONT OF ME THAT REQUIRED ME TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID ANOTHER ACCIDENT. WHEN PRESSURE APPLIED THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL NEARLY TOUCHED THE FLOOR. W/ SOME GREAT DEFENSIVE DRIVING AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED. A RECENT TEST DRIVE BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE BRAKES PROBLEM. UPON TAKING THE KEYS BACK, I HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL NEARLY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RETURNED TO THE SERVICE MGR TO HAVE HIM GO ON A TEST DRIVE W/ ME. HE REFUSED. I ASKED HIM 4X'S TO PLEASE TEST DRIVE IT WITH ME DRIVING. HE SAID THAT HE DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE DISTRICT SOMEBODY DROVE THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS A TECHNICIAN. HE AGAIN STATED NOTHING WRONG W/ BRAKES. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION : 10DPSM/SM DROVE VEHICLE TESTING BRAKES. COMPETED PANIC STOPS AT 40 MPH, 20 MPH. BRAKES OPERATED AS DESIGNED. TECH DROVE VEHICLE WHILE TESTING BRAKES AND PEDAL STIFFNESS. PANIC STOPS AT 10, 20, 30, 40 & 45 MPH. SWERVE SIDE TO SIDE TO TEST VSA AS WELL. ALL SYSTEMS OPERATE AS DESIGNED. I WANT TO NOTE THAT ONLY 11.5 MILES WERE PUT ON THE VAN DURING THEIR "TEST" OF IT .THEY DID NOT TEST IT UNDER MY NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I DON'T FEEL THE VEHICLE WAS ADEQUATELY TEST DRIVEN. THE BRAKES WILL WORK OFF AN ON, BUT THE LONGER IT IS DRIVEN AND THE MORE THE BRAKES ARE USED DURING THAT DRIVE, THE LESS RELIABLE THEY BECOME. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE MAY BE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES ON THEIR 2007 MODEL VANS DESPITE ALL THE INFO SENT TO THEM FROM THE NHSTA SITE. *TR
MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY LOST IT'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FUNCTIONING - WHEN IT DID ONLY THE DRIVER'S DOOR COULD BE OPENED. THE OTHERS ARE AUTOMATIC AND WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. I HAD TO PULL MY 2 GRANDCHILDREN FROM THE BACK THRU MY DOOR. IF THIS HAD BEEN A WRECK & THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS BLOCKED BY DAMAGE, NO ONE COULD GET OUT, AND NO ONE COULD GET A DOOR OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE TO HELP. *TR
IN MAY 2008, JUST 9 MONTHS AFTER DRIVING MY BRAND NEW 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR, MY AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FULLY ANTICIPATING MY FACTORY WARRANTY TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. AFTER DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT A ROCK HAD PUNCTURED THE CONDENSER CAUSING THE COOLANT TO LEAK OUT. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS WAS DEEMED A ?FREAK ACCIDENT? AND AN ?ACT OF NATURE? AND THEREFORE WAS NOT A WARRANTY. THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR, INCLUDING LABOR, WAS $780.00. I WAS INFORMED BY AMERICAN HONDA THAT THE ONLY WARRANTABLE REPAIRS ARE ?FACTORY DEFECTS?. I EXAMINED THE FRONT OF MY VAN ALONG THE BOTTOM AND I DISCOVERED THAT MY CONDENSER SITS RIGHT AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, COMPLETELY EXPOSED. I INVESTIGATED THE MATTER FURTHER AND DISCOVERED THAT IN THE NEXT YEAR'S MODEL, THE 2008 ODYSSEY, HONDA HAS GONE IN AND ADDED A GRILL OVER THE CONDENSER TO PROTECT IT. I ALSO DISCOVERED THOUSANDS OF OTHER ODYSSEY OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND WERE GIVEN THE EXACT SAME REGURGITATE ANSWER FROM THEIR DEALERSHIP AND FROM AMERICAN HONDA. THIS WAS NOT A FREAK ACCIDENT, RATHER, IT IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY AIR CONDITIONING FAILED AFTER 10000 MILES. DEALER CLAIMS ROCK PUNCHED A HOLE IN THE AC CONDENSER. PRICE TO FIX - $700. AMERICAN HONDA SAYS BECAUSE CAUSE IS ROAD DAMAGE, WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER IT. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP, I BECAME INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. OVER THE RECENT WEEKS I THOUGHT IT WAS TAKING LONGER TO STOP MY VAN, BUT HAD MY VAN IN FOR SERVICE THE WEEK BEFORE. I WAS ASSURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND ALL FLUID LEVELS WERE CORRECT. ***NOTE: ON MY FIRST SERVICE VISIT THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD NOT BE CONCERNED ABOUT BRAKE FLUID LEVELS THAT THE VAN WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN IT WAS TIME TO REPLACE THE BREAKS AND THAT THE VAN WAS DESIGNED TO DO SO. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. I COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE ACCIDENT AND THE OFFICER COAXED ME IN TO SAYING THAT I HAD BEEN DISTRACTED. I WAS IN SHOCK. MY SON WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND I COULD NOT THINK MUCH OF ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN WHETHER HE WAS SAFE. I BELIEVE I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THEN HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. EVER SINCE THE ACCIDENT I HAVE CONTINUED TO NOTICE THAT I MUST PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AT TIMES TO STOP THE VAN AND OTHER TIMES I DON'T IN NORMAL DRIVING CIRCUMSTANCES. ALL ALONG I HAD BELIEVED THE DEALERSHIP THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH MY VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE DAMAGES TO PAY AND A TICKET I AM FACING AS A RESULT OF WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE BREAK FAILURE. I WILL BE MAKING A FOLLOW-UP REPORT WITH MY LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT, FAXING A COPY OTHER SIMILAR BREAK FAILURE COMPLAINTS TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY, CONTACTING HONDA AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE ABLE TO GET SOME ANSWERS ON THE PROBLEM WITH MY VAN. *TR
2007 ODYSSEY WITH 13,000 MILES, THE AC SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING. TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONDENSER WAS HIT BY THE ROAD DEBRIS AND CAUSED THE LEAKAGE. I WAS CHARGED $790 TO INSTALL A NEW CONDENSER. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SOFT AND GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, FEELING LIKE IT TAKES EXTRA PEDAL EFFORT, RESULTING IN LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES. *TR
BRAKES THAT ARE VERY SOFT AND A HAZARD TO DRIVING. BRAKE ROTORS THAT NEED RESURFACING AT 300 MILES AND 15,000 MILES. DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ALL OF THE ODYSSEY'S HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOFT BRAKES AND ROTORS THAT WEAR OUT TOO FAST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND MILES HE HAD TO REPLACE HIS BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS HAD TO BE ROTATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
I AM A MECHANIC AT A SCHOOL DISTRICT AND WE HAVE PURCHASED 3 2007 ODYSSEY VANS. WE ARE EXPERIENCING SOFT BRAKES ON ALL THREE VANS. ONE OF THE VANS HAD A COMPLAINT OF HARD STOPPING I.E. TOO LONG OF DISTANCE. UPON TEST DRIVING THE VAN I DID NOTICE THAT THE BRAKES WERE VERY MUSHY. I DROVE ONE OF THE OTHER NEW VANS AND PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING, MUSHY BRAKES. I TOOK VAN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM WHICH THEY MUST OF BECAUSE THEY HAD FOR 3 DAYS AND WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY TRIED BLEEDING THE BRAKES ETC. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER. UPON THE RETURN OF THE VAN I NOTICED AN IMPROVEMENT IN PEDAL FEEL BUT THE BRAKES STILL FEEL TOO MUSHY. THE HANDLE IS LOCATED SO LOW ON THE REAR DOOR MY HAND BECAME LODGED BETWEEN THE DOOR & THE JAM, THERE IS NO SAFETY RELEASE INSIDE THE DOOR TO OPEN IT FROM INSIDE TRAPPING MY HAND. THE TOURING MODEL IS THE ONLY MODEL WITH A REAR DOOR OPENER ON THE REMOTE BUT THE INTERIOR HANDLE IS STILL LOCATED SO LOW ON THE REAR DOOR THE SAME SITUATION OCCURS. *TR

MY 3 YEAR OLD SON'S ARM AND HAND BECAME TRAPPED IN THE LEFT REAR AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC SLIDING DOOR. THERE IS A SAFETY TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL CLOSURE, HOWEVER THERE ARE NO SAFETIES IN PLACE ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT A CHILD'S ARM AND/OR HAND/FINGERS FROM BEING CRUSHED OR TRAPPED. NOW DEALER AND HONDA FACTORY SERVICE REP IS SAYING THIS IS A "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" OF THIS VAN, EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE FIRST NEW TRANSMISSION WAS AT 3321 MILES AND SECOND WAS AT 12,281 MILES. BRAKES: SLOPPY AND WEAK BRAKES SINCE PURCHASE. ROTORS TURNED AND PAD REPLACED AT 166 MILES, THREE DAYS AFTER BUYING NEW. TOO SOFT BRAKES ON 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. WITH MODERATELY INCREASING PRESSURE WHILE AT A FULL STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL PUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE FIREWALL. *TR
BRAKES WITH SOFT PEDAL AND FRONT NOISE. PROBLEM WAS FIRST TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 02-02-08. THROUGH RESEARCH FROM CONTACTS AT HONDA I FOUND OUT THAT THEY ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH A PROPORTIONING VALVE OR ABS MODULATOR. THE FLAW IS ALLOWING AIR TO GET INTO THE BRAKE LINES CAUSING SOFT PEDAL AND DECREASED PERFORMANCE. IT APPEARS THAT MOST OF THE AIR IN THE LINES IS AFFECTING THE REAR BRAKES PERFORMANCE. I'M EXPERIENCING VERY HOT FRONT BRAKES AND I FEEL THIS IS CAUSING GLAZING AND THE NOISE. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AROUND THE 4,000 MILE RANGE. HONDA HAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN IN THEIR SYSTEM WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR BLEEDING THE SYSTEM IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE ALSO RECOMMENDING THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS VALVE/UNIT ALSO. IN MY CASE, I'M STILL EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AND FRONT BRAKE NOISE. I HAVE FILED A 'LEMON LAW" CLAIM FOR MY VEHICLE WITH THE BBB AND HONDA. ON 12/26/07, I HAD A VERY BAD ACCIDENT HITTING 2 CARS AND ALL OF THE AIR BAGS IN OUR NEW 07 HONDA ODYSSEY DEPLOYED. MY WIFE WAS IN THE CAR, I WAS DRIVING AND WE WERE EXITING THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND TURNED ONTO THE OFF RAMP WHEN THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED; I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY AND THEY WERE SO SOFT THEY WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE RAMP WAS ABOUT 100 YARDS LONG, SO WE WOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP IF THE BRAKES WORKED. THE RAMP WAS UPHILL AND BECAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT GO OFF, THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND WE WERE GOING FASTER AND FASTER UP THE OFF RAMP. WE HAD NO PREVIOUS WARNING AND DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES PRIOR. AT THE TOP OF THE RAMP WAS A LIGHT THAT STOPPED TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD, WE WERE THE FIRST OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE RAMP AND BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP, WE REACHED THE LIGHT (GREEN) FOR US, CROSSED OVER A MEDIAN AND HIT TWO CARS ON OTHER SIDE WAITING FOR LIGHT TO CHANGE AND CRASHED. I COULD NOT TURN DUE TO THE SPEED AND WE WOULD HAVE ROLLED IF I DID. EVERY AIR BAG IN OUR ODY DEPLOYED, THE SEAT BELTS HELD US BACK AND FORTUNATELY WE WERE NOT HURT. DRIVER OF ONE OF THE CARS WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL; UNSURE OF HER INJURIES. AFTER 7 MONTHS OF OUR CAR BEING REPAIRED, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A HONDA DEALER WHO FINALLY TESTED THE CAR AND BRAKES AND DETERMINED THAT THE ABS/VSA MODULATOR CIRCUIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND BRAKE LINES HAD AIR IN THEM. THEY REPLACED THE ASSEMBLY, BLED THE BRAKE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 ODYSSEY BRAKES. WE HAD TAKEN THE CAR INTO DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE AND CHECKUP JUST 2 DAYS BEFORE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. OUR BRAKES WENT OUT WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING WHATSOEVER -- WE OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, AS THE ACCIDENT WAS BAD. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED, RATHER THAN BEING TOTALED AT TIME OF ACCIDENT. *TR
