HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE ISSUES FROM HONDA OF AMERICA AND LOCAL DEALERSHIPS REGARDING THE STATUS OF THE ODYSSEY'S SAFETY. THIS VAN HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE NEW THAT HONDA HAS CONSISTENTLY ATTEMPTED TO AVOID DEALING WITH. VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS HAS SUDDENLY HEAVY AND TROUBLESOME STEERING AFFECTED STEERING RESPONSE AND VEHICLE DIRECTION WHEN TURNING. BRAKE PEDAL FEEL WHEN SLOWING IN ANY FORWARD/REVERSE DIRECTION IS UNRESPONSIVE INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE AND AFFECTING EMERGENCY MANEUVERS. DEALERSHIP/ HONDA HAS NOT AND WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY!
VSA RECALL.. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN A COUPLE YEARS AGO ABOUT THIS RECALL AND NOW THE LIGHT COMES ON HERE AND THERE AND THE VEHICLE DON'T HAVE TO BE IN ROLLING ACTION. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE RECALL BUT NOW THE LIGHT COMES ON HERE AND THERE. I WOULD LIKE FOR SOMEONE TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND CONTACT ME.,
WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED (5-10 MPH) AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. FEB 1, 2018 AND FEB 14, 2018. THE PROBLEM CAUSED MINOR ACCIDENTS IN BOTH CASES. ON FEB 1, THE CAR WAS IN A PARKING LOT, PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AND RAN OVER A HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGN. ON FEB 14, IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, AND THE CAR ACCELERATED INTO A TRACTOR-TRAILER CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE ODYSSEY, BUT NOT TO THE TRACTOR TRAILER. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP MAINTAINS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OR ACCELERATOR. AS THE OWNER, I AM CONVINCED THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND IN FACT WE HAVE GOTTEN RID OF THE CAR AND BOUGHT A NEW ONE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT 22 OTHER PEOPLE HAD HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 ODYSSEY. I'M CONCERNED THAT THERE IS NEED FOR A RECALL, BUT HONDA IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM.
POWER STEERING PUMP WENT OUT MAKING IT HARD TO TURN. IT STARTED WITH AN OCCASIONAL TICKING NOISE AND THEN GRADUALLY GOT HARDER TO MAKE TURNS. NO MORE TICKING NOISE NOW JUST HARD TO TURN. I HAVE ACTUALLY SCREAMED LIKE SOMEONE POWER LIFTING TRYING TO GET INTO A PARKING SPACE!
THE VSA CONTROL WENT OUT WHICH IS A $1500.00 REPAIR. THE HONDA ODYSSEY HAS BEEN RECALLED OVERSEAS BUT NOT IN THE U.S. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY ONLY GAVE ME A 25% DISCOUNT ON THE PART. EVEN THOUGH THIS MODEL HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A RECALL. SURPRISED AT HONDA.
MY HONDA ODYSSEY SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING, AT THAT TIME YOU CAN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL (OR IT IS VERY VERY HARD TO TURN). THIS IS PRECEDED BY USUALLY THE LIGHTS ON DASHBOARDS FLASHING. SOMETIMES IT WILL SHUT OFF (DASHBOARD WILL GO BLACK) AND COME RIGHT BACK AFTER FEW SECONDS. OTHER TIMES THE I HAVE TO STOP AND TURN IT ON AGAIN AND IT WORKS. YESTERDAY IT TURNED OFF AND THE CAR CAME TO STOP THEN I MOVED THE BATTERY LITTLE AND THE HAZARD LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. WHEN IT'S COMPLETELY DEAD EVEN HAZARD LIGHT WOULD NOT BLINK. TODAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND EVEN AFTER MOVING THE BATTERY IT DID NOT GET POWER BACK. I HAD LEFT THE HAZARD LIGHT ON BUT IT WAS NOT BLINKING. HOWEVER AFTER AROUND 5 MINUTES OR SO ON IT'S OWN THE HAZARD LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND I COULD DRIVE OFF.
I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE LIGHY CAME ON AND THE "D" FOR DTIVE BEGAN FLASHING. WHEN I PUT THE VAN IN REVERSE AND NUETRAL IT APPEARED TO BE FINE. HOWEVER IT SHIFTED INT DRIVE HARD MADE A LOUD CLUNK DOUND THEN STARTED RATTELING. ALSO THE VHEHCILE LUNGES FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. IT ALSO DOESNT START OR TURN OVER AT TIMES.

WHICH THRY TOLD ME TH AS T I HAD A RACK AND PINION LEAK THEY SLSO TOLD THISIS A PROBLEM FOR THIS VAN A WEEK LATER MY MY DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STOP WORKING ALSO MY PASSENGER SIDE BACK SLIDING DOOR WAS PARTIALLY WORKING WHICH I FEEL IS HAZARDOUS IF YOU ARE IN A ACCIDENT I WENT TO A COUPLE PLACES THEY COULDNT FIX IT EACH ONE SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM HAS BEEN A BAD PROBLEM FOR THE 2004-2010 MODELS THEN I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP THEY ALSO SAID THE SAME THING I ASKED ABOUT REPLACING ROLLERS AND MOTOF THEY TOLD ME ITS A DEEPER ISSUE DONT WATE YOUR MONEY ON IT ! I JUST DONT SEE HOW THIS ISSUE WASNT ON RECALL EHEN ITS CLEARLY DANGEROUS AND ITS THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE I NOUGHT THIS FOR ME AND MY GRANDKIDS AND EVERY SINCE I BOUGHT I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THEM RIDE BUT ONCE BECAUSE LI DONT WANT THEM TRAPPED IN A EMERGENCY !!ALSO THE DRIVER S IY DE AXLE NEEDS REPLACED I FOUND THAT THIS IS ALSO A ISSUE WITH THE AXLES AS WELL BASCIALLY THIS VAN HAS MANY ISSUES THST HAD SUFFICIENT COMPLAINTS AND CONCERN THST CAN RESULT IN DEATH THAT WAS ADDRESSED AND I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY ALTHOUGH NI REALIZE ALL AUTOMOBILES HAS ISSUES BUT THESE ARE BAD AND LIFE THREATENING BEING TRAPPED IN A CAR OR HAVING TO DRIVE HIT A BUMP AND TIRE BRAKES OFF
MY HONDA ODYSSEY HAS DEVELOPED A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END. WE'VE REPLACED THE RIMS, TIRES, AND SUSPENSION TO NO AVAIL. THE VIBRATION CAN BE OVERWHELMING AT TIMES. WE ARE UNAWARE OF ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS SINCE IT CAME ON GRADUALLY. IT APPEARS TO BE WORSE IN THE WINTER.
AUTOMATIC DOORS WILL NOT OPEN ON THEIR OWN. THEY MAY OPEN PARTIALLY AND STOP, OR NOT AT ALL.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY VAN HAS LONG BRAKING RESPONSE SINCE I BOUGHT IT, I'VE CHANGED ALL ROTORS AND PADS, BLED THE SYSTEM, AND THE BRAKE IS STILL SOFT, I CHECK ONLINE, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM
BAD ENGINE MOUNTS FOR THE 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL MODEL. WILL COST OVER $2000 TO REPAIR.
ON JULY 15, 2017 WE WERE LOADING THE VAN FOR VACATION AND THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF, LANDING ON MY 14 YEAR DAUGHTERS LEG/FOOT. ON AUGUST 28, 2017 MY SON WENT TO UNLOCK THE VAN AND PRESSED THE SLIDING DOOR OPENER BY ACCIDENT, THE PASSENGER DOOR AGAIN FELL OFF. THE DOOR FELL OFF ON TOP OF MY 8 YEAR OLD SON. THE KIDS WERE THEREFORE LATE FOR THEIR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. WHEN THE DOOR FELL OFF, IT BENT THE TRACK AND SCRATCHED THE WHOLE PASSENGER BACK SIDE OF MY VAN. WHILE MY DAUGHTER AND I TRIED PUTTING THE DOOR BACK ON THE DOOR SLIPPED OUT OF THE TRACK AGAIN AND DAMAGED THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, DENTING THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THAT AFTERNOON I WENT TO THE HONDA DEALER IN GRANDVILLE MICHIGAN AND TALKED TO RANDY HOWES. HE REFUSED TO LISTEN TO ME AND DIRECTED ME TO LOOK IN THE MANUAL AND CONTACT HONDA. SO I CALLED THE 1-800 NUMBER IN MY MANUAL. I RETOLD WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A SERIOUS INCIDENT AND THAT I WOULD HEAR BACK WITH IN 2 DAYS. AFTER A WEEK A BEGAN CALLING AGAIN, I FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM RIO WARDANA FROM HONDA. I RETOLD HIM AGAIN WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND TOLD HIM I WANTED THE DOOR FIXED AND THE DAMAGED FIXED THAT THE DOOR CAUSED. HE WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND TOLD ME HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY DOOR FALLING OFF A HONDA VAN. I INFORMED HIM OF THE 100S OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE BUT HE REFUSED TO LISTEN. I WAS TOLD THE DOOR FALLING OFF WAS MY FAULT AND NOT HONDAS. I ASKED HIM WHAT TO DO BECAUSE THE OTHER DOOR WAS ACTING FUNNY AS WELL. HE SAID TO USE THE HATCH BACK DOOR FOR ENTERING IF I NEEDED TO AND HE HUNG UP ON ME. I HAVE BEEN BATTLING HONDA EVER SINCE AND CAN GET NO WHERE. MY DOOR IS NOT DANGEROUS. I CANNOT HAVE MY CHILDREN NEAR IT WITH THE FEAR OF IT FALLING OFF AGAIN AND I CAN FIND NO ONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS CASE. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO HOLD HONDA ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR VEHICLE SAFETY CONCERN!!
WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON THE FREEWAY, I HEARD A "CLICK" SUDDENLY ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT OUT AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE SECURITY KEY LIGHT BLINKED LETTING ME KNOW IT WAS A SECURITY ISSUE BUT MY CHIP KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION THE WHOLE TIME. I HAD TO STEER OFF TO THE SHOULDER, PUT VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN KEY OFF, THEN BACK ON AGAIN AND IT DROVE AWAY FINE. I'M REALLY THANKFUL THAT IT DID NOT DO THIS DURING PEAK TRAFFIC OR IT EASILY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. SINCE I WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL ON THE FREEWAY, I DID NOT TAKE A PICTURE OF THE DASH COMPLETELY OFF EXCEPT FOR THE SECURITY KEY LIGHT FLASHING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE SECURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT DECLINED TO DO SO DUE TO THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKES JUST LOST POWER AND I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE VERY FIRMLY TO FEEL ANY ACTUAL BRAKING HAPPEN. THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED ABOUT 200 MILES AGO AND THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSHED DUE TO PREVIOUS ISSUE OF A VERY SPONGY OR SOFT BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE FAILURE STARTED AT THE END OF A 50 MILE COMMUTE AT AS I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND APPROACHED A RED LIGHT IT TOOK TWICE-THREE TIMES THE NORMAL DISTANCE TO STOP GOING ABOUT 40 MPH.
I AM STILL WAITING TO RECALL TO BE FIXED. IT IS SHOWING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
THE DOOR IS ALL THE DOOR BROKEN
THE SLIDING DOOR ON MY ODYSSEY FELL OFF. IT LITERALLY FELL OFF RIGHT ONTO MY BODY WHILE I WAS PUMPING GAS. NOT ONLY DID THIS CAUSE PHYSICAL HARM TO MY PERSON, BUT IT RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL BODY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE PANEL.
THIS SEAT BELT IS 3RD ROW DRIVERS SIDE. UNTIL 2 YEARS AGO THIS BELT WAS USED LESS THAN ONCE A YEAR. WITH THE ADDITION OF A THIRD GRAND CHILD IT WAS NECESSARY TO USE THE THIRD ROW SEATING, USING THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. THE 7 YEAR OLD SAT THERE ABOUT 3 TIMES A MONTH AN HOUR EACH TIME FOR 1 YEAR. WITH NO BOOSTER SEAT. A YEAR AGO WE PUT THE 4 YEAR OLD IN THAT SEAT AS SHE ONLY NEEDED A BOOSTER SEAT AND WAS QUITE CAPABLE OF BUCKLING HERSELF IN. THE AMOUNT OF USAGE DID NOT CHANGE. THE DAMAGE STARTS 1 MILLIMETER OUTSIDE OF THE UPPER ANCHOR SLIDE AND GOES FOR ABOUT 18 INCHES OF BELT THAT PULLS THROUGH THE UPPER ANCHOR SLIDE. IT REALLY DOES NOT PULL ACROSS ANYTHING ELSE. I HAVE EXAMINED THE OTHER BELTS AND ONLY THE DRIVERS BELT SHOWS AN EXTREMELY SMALL AMOUNT OF WEAR IN EXACTLY THE SAME AREA; THE LOWER EDGE OF THE BELT THAT FIRST PULLS THROUGH THE UPPER ANCHOR SLIDE. I CANNOT EVEN FIND ANY PARTS OF THE BELT THAT HAVE DISINTEGRATED. LAYING AROUND BELOW THE BELT.. ON 6/17/2017 THE 4 YEAR OLD CLIMBED INTO THE SEAT. SHE TOLD ME IT WAS BROKE. I WAS SHOCKED,WHEN I EXAMINED THE BELT AT THE CONDITION OF THE BELT.
MOTOR MOUNT FAILURE
VERY STRONG GAS SMELL
WE WERE OUT OF THE HOUSE AND ON TO A CITY STREET, SUDDENLY BATTERY LIGHT IS ON AND CANNOT STEER AT ALL. ALMOST GOT INTO CRASH. TURNS OUT THE SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER, NEW FROM HONDA DEALER IN 2017, ITS BOLT SHEARED OFF THREE MONTHS AFTER INSTALLATION. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD MOST CERTAINLY GOT US INTO AN ACCIDENT. HONDA SHOULD RECALL ALL THE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT PUT IN ANOTHER HONDA TENSIONER.
ALL FOUR TIRES FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO DRY ROT CRACKS IN THE TREAD ON MAY 15, 2017. TIRES WERE PURCHASED ON JUNE 5, 2012. TIRES WERE INSTALLED AT 45707 MILES, FAILURE NOTED AT 80010 MILES. COSTO TECHNICIAN CLAIMED FAILURE WAS DUE TO VEHICLE NOT BEING DRIVEN ENOUGH. THIS SEEMS LIKE A HANDY EXCUSE AND VERY SUBJECTIVE. WHEN I ASKED THE GARAGE OWNER WHO DID THE INSPECTION IF THIS WAS A VALID REASON HIS RESPONSE WAS IT IS NOT AND SAID HE HAS SEEN A LOT OF THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IN MICHELIN TIRES IN THE PAST 6 TO 8 YEARS. PLEASE NOT ALL FOUR (4) TIRES FAILED, NOT JUST ONE. DETAILS OF THIS FORM REQUIRED ME TO SELECT WHICH TIRE BUT AGAIN, ALL FOUR FAILED. ..UPDATED 06/06/17 *BF
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUMPS AND GRINDS WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING. IT WILL SUDDENLY STOP THEN REVERSE DIRECTION. IT HAS ALMOST SHUT ON SEVERAL PEOPLE. I'VE DELT WITH IT FOR YEARS BUT TODAY I REALIZED THAT WATER IS LEAKING IN THE SAME DOOR. I REALIZED THIS WHEN I WENT TO PUT ON MY SEAT BELT AND IT WAS FROZEN INSIDE AND WET. MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE BELT WAS ALSO WET. AFTER REALIZING THIS I SAW A WET STAIN ALONG THE WHOLE TOP OF THE SLIDING DOOR. SO DISAPPOINTED.
I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS FOR YEARS WITH THE POWER STEERING BUT IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. NOW I SEE HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. I BOUGHT MY VAN BRAND NEW. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. I HAVE TROUBLE PARKING AND TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP AND MAKES IT FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE NO POWER STEERING WHEN TURNING. THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO ALL OWNERS.
BOTH CLEAR GLASS COVERS ["LENSES"?] OVER THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE DEVELOPED A SPIDERWEB NETWORK OF CRACKS, VERY THIN, OVER THE ENTIRE LENS. THE CAR WAS NEVER HIT. IT OCCURRED GRADUALLY OVER TIME. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IT DIMINISHES THE LIGHT OUTPUT, AND LEADS ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO AT TIMES FLASH THER HEADLIGHTS AS IF MY BRIGHTS ARE ON.
THE TENSIONER BOLT HAS SHEARED OFF 3 TIMES SINCE THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS REPLACED. IN BOTH CASES THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND POWER STEERING WAS LOST MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER THE CAR SAFELY. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS. IN ALL CASES OUR MECHANIC USED ORIGINAL FACTORY PARTS. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY WIFE AND 5 CHILDREN. AIR BAG , TRANSMISSION, FUEL CAP ALWAYS ON ,DOORS ELECTRIC PROBLEMS ,VEHICLE STABILITY OFF NOT WORKING
FUEL LEAKING FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF THE CAR, ONE CAN WATCH IT DRIP, AND ONE CAN SMELL FUEL. IT SEEMS TO BE PARTICURLARLY ACUTE WHEN FUEL IS ALMOST FULL.
LIKE MANY OTHERS I HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTOR ISSUE AT 122K MILES. THE COST TO REPLACE THE CONVERTOR WAS 2300 DOLLARS , NEEDLESS TO SAY I'M OUTRAGED.
THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT CIRCULATING PROPERLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD BELOW 20 DEGREES. HARD TO CONTROL THE STEERING. YOU MAY HAVE TO LET THE ENGINE WARM TO AVOID THE HARD STEERING
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY ABS BRAKING SYSTEM IS SOFT WITH LOW PEDAL. DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT TIMES, FREQUENT PROBLEMS FOR LAST SEVERAL YEARS. EVEN AFTER RECALLS FOR FAULTY SEALS IN THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER YEARS AGO AND THEN THE RECALL FOR THE VSA MODULATOR . BUMPED GARAGE DOOR WHILE PULLING IN! DEALER SAID: FAULTY ABS MODULATOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED BUT THE PARTS REPLACED WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.

MY HONDA ODYSSEY DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR HAD BEEN SHAKING, MAKING NOISES, AND OPENING AND CLOSING MID WAY FOR A FEW WEEKS WHEN THE DOOR FINALLY POPPED OUT! WE WERE RETURNING FROM A FAMILY TRIP AND AFTER WE PULLED INTO OUR DRIVEWAY AROUND 1:30 AM AND PARKED, MY HUSBAND USED THE SLIDING DOOR TO GET OUR TODDLER OUT. AS HE REACHED IN AND PICKED HER UP, THE DOOR BEGAN TO CLOSE AND HE PUSHED HER BACK IN. THEN THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND THE DOOR POPPED OUT AND WAS HANGING BY THE HINGES. WE COULD NOT BLIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED. FEARING THAT THE DOOR WOULD FALL OFF, WE QUICKLY TOOK THE KIDS IN AND MY HUSBAND AND SON ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE DOOR BACK ON AS QUICKLY AND SAFELY AS WE COULD WITH OUR PHONES FLASHLIGHTS FOR VISIBILITY. IT TOOK A WHILE BUT THEY MANAGED TO LIFT AND PUSH IT UP WHERE IT WAS NO LONGER HANGING BUT WASN'T CLOSED ALL THE WAY EITHER. WE COVERED THE DOOR AND OPENINGS WITH TRASH BAGS TO SEAL OUT THE RAIN THAT WAS GETTING IN. LATER THAT MORNING WE WENT OUT TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE. THE TRASH BAGS HAD BLOWN OFF AND THE SEATS WERE WET, THE DOOR HAD SCRATCHED THE EXTERIOR OF THE VAN DEEPLY. THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY WHICH WAS MONDAY THE 4TH, I CALLED MY HONDA SERVICE STATION AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED HE SAID HE HAD HEARD ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT I NEEDED TO CALL HONDA CORPORATE AND SEE IF THEY WOULD PAY FOR REPAIRS. I CALLED CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO HE HIGH MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE THEY WOULD NOT PAY. I TOLD HIM THAT WHILE RESEARCHING WHY THE DOOR WOULD JUST POP OUT, I FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND NOT ALL THE VANS HAD HIGH MILEAGE BUT HONDA REFUSED TO HELP THEM TOO IT WAS UNSAFE WHEN THE DOOR WAS SHAKING AND CLOSING AS WE WOULD TRY TO GET IN OR OUT BUT NOW WE CANNOT GET OUT OF THAT DOOR IN CASE OF ANEMERGENCY I BELIEVE HONDA HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE DOORS AND IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT.
TAKATA RECALL, I TOOK MY GO TO WALMART TO CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER AND THE GUY THAT CHANGED, NOTICE THAT THE TANK WAS LEAKING FUEL FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK, I HAVE LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING SO, I DECIDED TO TOOK THE GO WITH MY MECHANIC. I USED A CAMERA TO SEE ON THE VERY TOP OF THE TANK AND I SAW THE FUEL LEAK COMING FROM THE TOP INSIDE OF THE TANK, HE SAID IT COMES FROM THE PUMP FUEL SYSTEM, SO I SEE WHY MY FULL TANK DOESN'T GET ME THE MILES THAT IT SUPPOSE TO GET BY GALLON. THAT'S WHY WE ALWAYS NOTICE THE VAN THAT SMELLS LIKE GAS AND PARKING WHEN WE CAN SEE THE GAS ON THE FLOOR. I WAS THINKING IT WAS WATER COMING THAT FROM THE AIR CONDITION. . I'M WORRY ABOUT THE COMBINATION OF HEAT AND GAS THAT CAN CAUSE FIRE. I LIVE IN TEXAS AND HERE THE TEMPETURE IS REALLY HOT.

MY VEHICLE HAS A STRONG GASSY SMELL WHEN I START IT UP. BOTH MY PASSENGER DOORS HAVE FALLEN OFF THE HINGES WHILE STATIONERY AND MY CHECK FUEL CAP LIGHT CONSTANTLY FLASHES WHILE IN MOTION.
SUDDEN, UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION OF THE ENGINE: THREE TIMES WITHIN THE LAST WEEK OUR 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY STARTED RAPIDLY ACCELERATING (REV-ING) WHILE I WAS APPLYING BRAKES AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN. I AVOIDED A POSSIBLE ACCIDENT BY APPLYING STIFF BRAKING PRESSURE WHILE RAPIDLY PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. ONLY AFTER I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION DID THE CAR STOP REV-ING. THAT SEEMED TO FIX IT THE FIRST AND SECOND TIME BECAUSE WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AGAIN, IT BEHAVED NORMALLY FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED AS I WAS SLOWING AND COMING TO A STOP BEHIND ANOTHER CAR, AND AFTER I HAD TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, IT STARTING REVING AGAIN JUST AS SOON AS THE ENGINE STARTED. SO I TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND COUNTED TO TEN, AND THEN IT STARTED NORMALLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY SAY IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE BODY (WHATEVER THAT IS) AND THEY SAY THEY OPENED IT UP AND CLEANED IT OUT, BUT REALLY COULDN'T SAY WHAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED IT. THIS IS REALLY SCARY BECAUSE IF I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO REACT QUICKLY AND APPLY STIFF BRAKING PRESSURE, I COULD HAVE CONTINUED INTO TRAFFIC WHERE I ALMOST CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY CROSS TRAFFIC (THE FIRST TWO TIMES) OR WOULD HAVE RUN INTO THE CAR THAT WAS STOPPED AHEAD OF ME (THIS LAST TIME). (BY "REV-ING" I MEAN THE ENGINE IS RACING, I.E., MAKING LOTS OF REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE. AS IF THE DRIVER WAS STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.)
THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR. IT APPEARS TO BE RANDOM BUT HAS BEEN OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY THE PAST FEW MONTHS. LAST WEEK IT STALLED 3 TIMES. THE STALLING USUALLY OCCURS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. IT OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR WHEN I AM STOPPED. IT HAS OCCURRED ONE TIME WHILE BACKING UP. YOU CAN TELL WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE ENGINE SEEMS TO START RUNNING ROUGH. WHEN STOPPED, THE ENGINE WILL BE AT 800 OR 900 REVS AND THEN SUDDENLY DROP THEN JUMP UP AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND START THE ENGINE. IT ALWAYS STARTS FINE. IT HAPPENS ON HOT AND COOL DAYS, RAINY AND SUNNY DAYS. IT HAPPENS WITH THE AC ON OR THE AC OFF. I HAVE TRIED USING GAS EXCLUSIVELY FROM EXXON AND THEN EXCLUSIVELY FROM BP FOR MONTHS AT TA TIME IN EACH CASE. NO DIFFERENCE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC AND TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES. NOTHING EVER SHOWS UP ON THE COMPUTER. I EVEN HAD IT STALL AS I PARKED IT AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP NOR THE MECHANICS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. TO TRY SOMETHING, I HAD THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AND A TUNE UP DONE. THE VEHICLE STALLED THE NEXT DAY. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO HONDA AUTOMOTIVE USA. THEY GAVE ME NO HELP OR SOLUTION OTHER THAN TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM VERY LEERY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE!
