I BOUGHT A 2001 HYUNDAI IN 2001 AND SINCE I HAD IT. IT HAS 1 NEW BRAKE I NEW TRANSMISSION MOLDING HAS FALLEN OFF OF IT COULDN'T REALLY TELL WHAT ELSE HAS GONE WRONG WITH IT. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NUMEROUS OF TIMES AND THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. I HAVE TO PAY FOR RENTAL CARS TAKE OFF WORK AND OTHER TIME WASTING THINGS. I AM REALLY DISCOURAGED ABOUT OWNING SUCH A PIECE OF JUNK. WHAT DO I DO?*JB
CONSUMER STATES WAS DRIVING APPROX 35-40MPH AND INVOLVED IN A RIGHT FRONTAL COLLISON. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NLM
CONSUMER STATED THE TIRE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION. SCC *JB
CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A NOISE COMING THE STEERING COLUMN WHILE DRIVING. TS *JB
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE FROM UNDER FRONT END. ALSO A CREAKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM UNDER THE RIGHT FRONT WHEN CAR WAS AT IDLE AND WHEN THE STEERING WAS TURNED BACK AND FORTH. CUSTOMER FELT NOISE WAS RELATED. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND AT THE TIME. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. *TT *JB
THERE IS A BOLT THAT HAS A 1/2" GAP ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE UNDER THE FRAME THAT WAS NOTICED WHEN REPLACING THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE PASSENGER SIDE SUSPENSION BOLT IS FLUSH WITH THE FRAME OF THE CAR. THIS CAN ONLY BE SEEN IF THE CAR IS ON THE GROUND. THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD. WAS NOTIFIED BY THE MECHANIC THAT IS WAS A DEFECT WITH SUSPENSION AND TOLD TO GET THE CAR IN ASAP. THIS COULD POSE A SERIOUS RISK TO THE DRIVER AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROAD.*AK
MY CAR ENGINE WILL REV UP ON ITS OWN WHEN IN NEUTRAL (I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION) THE ENGINE REVS UP THEN IDLES LOW AS IF IT IS GOING TO STALL. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES, AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE COIL PACK, SPARK PLUGS, AND A SENSOR... STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. EVERY TIME I TAKE MY CAR IN THEY TELL ME THAT MY SPARK PLUGS ARE MISFIRING AND THAT I NEED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AND BECAUSE THEY ARE A WEAR ITEM AND IT'S GOING TO COST ME. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT DONE IN THE DEALERSHIP SO I DID A HOME REPAIR AND REPLACED THEM MYSELF. THIS IS THE 3RD SET OF PLUGS ON THIS CAR AND THEY ARE NOW MISFIRING AGAIN (ONLY AFTER 5 MONTHS) I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY AREN'T HYUNDAI PLUGS (WHICH I UNDERSTAND), BUT THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOME REASON THAT THE PLUGS ARE FOULING OUT SO QUICKLY AND NO ONE WILL INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE MY SPARK PLUGS (WEAR ITEM OR NOT) 4 TIMES IN 2 YEARS, NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO TWIST THE DEALERSHIPS ARM TO DO THE JOB THAT THEY ARE PAID UNDER WARRANTY TO DO! I AM DISGUSTED WITH HYUNDAI, AND THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THEIR DEALERS PROVIDE! I WILL NEVER BUY HYUNDAI AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE ELSE PURCHASE FROM THEM! *LA
HAD A TIRE BLOWOUT, AND TIRE SHREDED WHICH KNOCKED OUT TIREWALL, AND RIPPED OUT WIRING HARNESS.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 40MPH ON HIGHWAY ANOTHER VEHICLE MADE A SUDDEN STOP IN FRONT OF CONSUMERS VEHICLE, AND A REAR END COLLISION OCCURRED, UPON IMPACT, DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK ALSO THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE.*MJ

ACTION REPORT, CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THOTTLE BODY IDLE SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT, NHTS CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V346000. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE DEALERSHIP CHEVROLET HYUNDAI 1100 WASHINGTON AVE HUNTINGTON WEST VIRGINIA. (304 529 2301). *AK CONSUMER MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, HE WAITED ABOUT 4 ? HOURS AND HE WAS TOLD TO RESCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. *YD
THERE IS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, AND VEHICLE SHAKES,/JERKS. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT AND HAS DIFFICULTY STARTING IT UP. PROBLEM USUSALLY OCCURS MORE OFTEN WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING OVER NIGHT. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
2001 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHILE IN USE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER SWUNG OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN ON 95 NORTH. WIPER WAS INOPERABLE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN INTO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THE REPLACED THE WIPER. THE OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER SWUNG OFF AGAIN IN RAIN WHILE ON THE ROAD SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. EACH TIME, THE BOLT WAS TIGHTENED AND THE WIPER WAS OPERABLE AGAIN. IN 2006, THE WIPER SWUNG OFF AGAIN DURING HEAVY RAIN. WAS NOT ABLE TO TIGHTEN BOLT. TOOK CAR INTO DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED WIPER AGAIN. ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO INJURIES, THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THE WIPER SUDDENLY SWINGS OFF DURING OPERATION. THE DRIVER SUDDENLY LOSES VISIBILITY OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD DURING HEAVY RAIN. *JB
DEALER FIXED WHEEL BEARINGS AT NO CHARGE IN 1 DAY. DEALER REPLACING TRANSMISSION BY END OF THE WEEK - NO LOANER OR RENTAL CAR AVAILABLE; I HAVE TO RENT A CAR. SERVICE REP. COMPLAINED ABOUT CAR BEING OUR OF WARRANTY; I REMINDED HER CAR WAS BOUGHT MAY 11. DO I HAVE A LEMON? ARE MY KIDS SAFE IN IT? I'M VERY DISPLEASED WITH DEALER ABOUT THIS.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE SHIFTING PROPERLY.*MR THE CONSUMER HEARD A TICKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TOT HE DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND A BENT BAFFLE IN THE VALVE COVER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE IT SLAMMED INTO GEAR. THIS OCCURRED ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS WARM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PULSE GENERATOR. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT GRADE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS DIFFICULT TO MOVE FROM PARK. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT HE CONSUMER APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PRIOR TO PUTTING THE SHIFTER INTO PARK. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED, CONSUMER HIT A TREE, AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A SKID AND OFF THE ROAD, CONSUMER WAS INJURIED. *YH
SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR, IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP 5 TIMES, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CAR BEGINS TO HAVE PROBLEMS SHIFTING GEARS, IT LOSES POWER, AS NOT GOING HIGHER THAN 20-30 MILES. WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS APPLIED, THE CAR GETS STUCK FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE IT JERKS AND BEGINS TO RUN AGAIN. EVERYTIME WE TAKE IT IN THEY REPAIR THE PULSE GENERATOR. THE PULSE GENERATOR HAS BEEN CHANGES TWO TIME IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS ALONE (JUNE, AUGUST), AND NOW ITS READY TO GO BACK INTO THE SHOP AGAIN. IT IS GETTING WORSE, IT IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT GETS STUCK ANYWHERE, AND CAN GET HIT FROM BEHIND, OR GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WHEN IT STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROSS SECTION. *JB
VEHICLE WAS GOING 55MPH AND FRONT END HYDROPLANED INTO MEDIAN, CAUSING AIR BAGS NOT TO DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED.*AK
CONSUMER HAD AN ACCIDENT THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE DEFECT IN RECALL # 01-V-346-000. DIDN'T RECEIVE RECALL LETTER UNTIL APRIL 2002. VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *MJ
THE CAR WAS TRAVELING BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT AND THE DRIVER BEGAN TO NOTICE AN UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKE WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE FRONT OF THE CAR THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT.*AK
CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN GARAGE FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS, WHEN THE VEHICLE REAR MIDDLE WINDOW SHATTERED. CONSUMER STATES THERE WAS SOME GLASS IN VEHICLE. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS

VEHICLE WAS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO CRAWL OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
BRAKES--THIS VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALER'S SHOP 5 TIMES FOR BRAKE REPAIRS, STARTING AT 4,100 MILES. CALIPERS AND MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED, BUT STILL EXPERIENCING BRAKING PROBLEMS. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING MORE WRONG W/BRAKES. ONE TIME WHEN TAKING IT IN FOR SERVICE, FRONT BRAKES MEASURED AT 5/32. SIX DAYS LATER STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS, TOOK IT TO DEALER AND FRONT BRAKES MEASURED 1/32!!!!! DEALER ALSO "ADJUSTED" THE REAR BRAKES, WHICH WAS NEVER FULLY EXPLAINED TO ME. TRANSMISSION: EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS W/ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON.....DEALER REPLACED PULSE GENERATOR. FIVE DAYS LATER, ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN--VEHICLE VERY LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID, MAKES LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS (ESP TO DRIVE OR REVERSE). DOES NOT SHIFT UP FROM EITHER 2 TO 3 GEAR, OR 3 TO 4 GEAR. REPORTED PROBLEM TO DEALER, WHO CAN'T GET THE CAR IN FOR 2 DAYS TO LOOK AT IT. WILL HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER.*AK
THE VEHICLE DOESN'T GO OVER 20 MPH AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T SHIFT ABOVE FIRST GEAR DUE TO POWER TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *YH *CB
FRONT END SUSPENSION CONNECTORS HAVE FALLEN OFF OF VEHICLE FOR SECOND TIME, RESULTING IN LOSS OF A TIRE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
NGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN CONSUMER STOPPED VEHICLE, AND TOOK FOOT OFF GAS, RPMS AND SPEED ODOMETER REVVED UP. WHILE STOPPING AT STOP SIGN, PUT FOOT ON BRAKES, AND VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD. CONTACT DEALER, AND DEALER STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH VEHICLE.AK

TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY GONE. VEHICLE WAS JUMPING FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL, AND REVVING 200 RPMS BY ITSELF. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *AK
BOTH FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLES CAME UNDONE WHILE DRIVING, ALSO, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO HEAR THE CLICKING SOUND WHEN SNAPPING THE LATCH PLATE INTO THE BUCKLE. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED.*AK
AT 35-42 MPH THERE WAS A FRONT IMPACT AND DRIVER WAS NOT WEARING SEATBELT. BOTH FRONT SEATBELTS RETRACTED AFTER IMPACT INTO DOOR MOUNTS TO THE POINT OF BREAKING THE SIDE MOUNTS. INFORMATION PROVIDED BY OFFICER WILLIAM ELBERT. PLEASE ADD $ AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. *AK
TOLD TO CONTACT INSURANCE. REFUSED. TOLD MY FATHER I LIED AND A TREE OR SOMETHING ELSE HIT MY WINDSHIELD. PARENTS KEPT FIGHTING. MY MOTHER FINALLY TOLD THIS HAS HAPPENED TO TWO OTHERS. TOOK TO SHOP. (I WAS ON MY WAY TO COLLEGE WHEN IT HAPPENED). *AK

WHEN UPSHIFTING AND DOWNSHIFTING, THE GEARS GRIND EVEN IF CLUTCH IS FULLY DEPRESSED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN IN AND NEW COMPONENTS WERE INSTALLED UNDER A "CAMPAIGN" BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND I WILL SEE THE SERVICE MGR AGAIN TO DISCUSS WHAT FURTHER CAN BE DONE. *AK
VEHICLE WOULD JERK INTERMITTENTLY WHILE COASTING. VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP, AND INFORMED CONSUMERTHAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
VEHICLE HAD A DECREASE IN ACCELERATION. CONSUMER LATER RECEIVED RECALL 01V346002 FOR PCV KIT. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY REPLACED PCV KIT. PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. . *AKCONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCED A HIGHER THAN NORMAL IDLE SPEED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THE RECALL. THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE HEARD RESULTING IN BRAKE DUST ON THE RIMS. THE VEHICLE REMAINS SLUGGISH IN ACCELERATION. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN OVER DRIVE AND IT WOULD ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATES. CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. CONSUEMR HAD STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, CONSUMER LET UP OFF THE BRAKE AND WITHOUT GIVING ANY GAS TO THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE SLID INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. *JG
REAR WINDOW EXPLODED AND CAUSED GLASS TO SHATTER FOR UNKNOWN REASON WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER TO CONTACT INSURANCE AGENCY. *AK *SLC
IGNITION COIL WENT OUT 3 DAYS AFTER VEHICLE PURCHASED. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 MORE TIMES.ALSO, FRONT END WILL SHAKE, AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT COMES ON. *AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, 3 TIMES IT STAYED ON, AND ONCE EVERY WEEK IT FLICKERED. . DEALER HAS REPLACED FUELPUMP, SPARK PLUGS AND SPARK PLUG WIRE. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REMEDY. TOLD CONSUMER NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. *AK
THE CLUTCH MALFUNCTIONED AFTER THE CONSUMER MADE AN EMERGENCY STOP. CLUTCH DISC FAILURE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE CAUSE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS CHANGED WHILE IT WAS BEING SERVICED. *YH *CB *JB
THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WHEN PULLED ALL THE WAY OUT, TIGHTENS ADULT PASSENGER SO TIGHT AGAINST CHEST THAT THEY CAN NOT BREATHE, EACH MOVEMENT MAKES IT TIGHTEN MORE, CONSUMER ALSO STATES THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT IS SHORTER THAN THE OTHERS. NLM
