**STEERING WHEEL SAFETY HAZARD** I HAVE A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA SE COUPE, 50K MILES. I NOTICED THAT ALL THE SUDDEN IN THE PAST WEEK OR SO THERE IS A FEW INCH GAP AND A CLUNKING NOISE IN MY STEERING WHEEL. I BROUGHT IT TO MY DEALERSHIP (KING HUYNDAI AND DEERFIELD BEACH FLORIDA) AND THEY ADVISED THAT MY "STEERING WHEEL COUPLER" NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED HIM IF THERE ARE ANY POSSIBLE HAZARDOUS OR DANGEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS FAULTY STEERING WHEEL COUPLER. HIS RESPONSE WAS, "ABSOLUTELY, YOUR STEERING WHEEL CAN LOCK UP AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT"! HE ALSO ADVISED ME THAT IF I DO NOT HAVE THIS REPAIRED ASAP IT CAN RESULT IN MY ENTIRE ELECTRICAL STEERING SYSTEM TO ALSO BREAK & NEED REPLACEMENT. HE ALSO ADDED, "IF THAT HAPPENS I WILL END UP SPENDING A LOT MORE MONEY FOR THAT REPAIR ALSO"! I DID SOME RESEARCH ON MY OWN AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS BAD "COUPLER" IS MADE OF ONLY PLASTIC!! THE AVERAGE COST IS ONLY ABOUT $10 FOR A NEW ONE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $300.00 (OUT OF THE DOOR) FOR THIS SPECIFIC REPAIR. THIS GAP AND CLUNKING SOUND HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS TOTALLY STOPPED (BUT STILL RUNNING) AND ALSO DURING NORMAL AVERAGE DRIVING. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE AND I TRANSPORT MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. I AM SO SCARED TO DRIVE IT NOW, I AM TRYING TO FIND OTHER TRANSPORTATION METHODS. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING I AM ABLE TO FEEL EVEN THE SMALLEST PEBBLE UNDER A TIRE AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND TRULY DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL AND IS VERY SCARY. MOST IMPORTANTLY, IF THIS IS SUCH A DANGEROUS MATTER REGARDING THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, WHY WOULD THEY USE ONLY PLASTIC FOR THIS COUPLER AND NOT SOMETHING MORE RIGID AND STABLE WITH NO WORRIES OF ANY WEAR?
MY BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT AT SAME TIME, SO I WAS RESEARCHING WHAT TO DO AND READ ABOUT THE ONE RECALL (#146) THAT I HAD DONE ALREADY. IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT STARTING YOUR CAR WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I DO NOT DEPRESS THE PEDAL WHEN I START MY CAR. IS THIS AN ISSUE?
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CAR STARTED TO SKIP TOOK TWO CERTIFIED MECHANIC CHANGE SPARK PLUGS TWO CONDENSERS ENGINE FLUSH AND THE ENGINE START RATTLING ENGINE BROKE LOOSE NOW ENGINE IS DESTROYED OR AFTER A TUNEUP. TOOK BACK IMMEDIATELY AND TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC FOR SECOND OPINION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND IN THE STEERING. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCCONNELL HONDA DEALER, (2840 EASTERN BLVD, MONTGOMERY, AL 36116, (334) 271-2500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROUTER CUFF ON THE STEERING WHEEL HAD WORN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,602.
THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNED, IT HAPPENS WHEN IT IS MOVING OR STILL TOO.
THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN COUPLER WORE OUT. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS. FOUND THIS OUT BY DOING A WEB SEARCH ON STEERING PROBLEMS. NO RECALLS ON THIS INHERIT PROBLEM
ESC INDICATOR IS ON ON THE DASH BOARD DUE TO STEERING ANGLE SENSOR CIRCUIT-SIGNAL ISSUE.
STEERING CUPLER MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING. MY FAMILY MACHINIC STATED THAT THAT THESE CARS HAD A RECALL ON THEM. BUT WHEN CALL DEALERSHIP THEY SAID MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE?
FOR THE BRAKES AND LIGHTING ISSUE, MY BRAKE LIGHTS GO BAD EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS AND NEED CHANGED. I BELIEVE THIS IS POSSIBLY TO DO WITH THE RECALL FOR BRAKES. I HAVE HAD PEOPLE ON MANY OCCASIONS STOP ME IN TRAFFIC TO LET ME KNOW AN ENTIRE SIDE OF LIGHTS WERE OUT AT ONCE. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER MORE THAN ONCE AS WELL FOR MY BRAKE LIGHTS IN THE FOUR YEARS I'VE HAD MY CAR. I ALWAYS KEEP SPARE LIGHTS IN MY CAR FOR THIS REASON. I CALLED A&B KIA, WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR, WHO SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. HOWEVER, WITH THE MANY ISSUES I'VE HAD WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS I BELIEVE IT IS RELATED. MORE RECENTLY THAN MY BRAKES, MY CRUISE CONTROL HAS STOPPED WORKING. WITHIN THE PAST YEAR IT HAS SLOWLY WENT FROM WORKING SOMETIMES TO NOT WORKING AT ALL. OTHER FUNCTIONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, SUCH AS VOLUME AND RADIO CONTROLS HAVE NOT BEEN AFFECTED.
THE ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A TICKING SOUND A FEW WEEKS AGO WHEN THE FIRST COLD FRONT CAME IN.
STEERING COLUMN COUPLING IS BAD DUE TO WHICH I HEAR THE NOICE WHEN I TURN THE STEERING. ALSO I FEEL THAT STEERING IS HARD TO MANEUVER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BATTERY INDICATOR AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED. OTHER UNKNOWN INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND DECELERATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 16408283. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 217,500.
ON ENGINE START UP, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ACTIVATED INDICATING FAILURE WITH EITHER THE AIRBAG OR SUPPLEMENT RESTRAINT SYSTEM. DEALER DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED THE "CLOCKSPRING" PART HAD FAILED. THIS PART HAS FAILED OFTEN ENOUGH THAT HYUNDAI HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY ON "SOME MODELS OF 2011-2014" ELANTRA, BUT NOT THE MODEL OF MY CAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PART THAT IS ON ALL 2011-2014 ELANTRA MODELS. SHOULD IT FAIL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, THEN THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT OR THE SUPPLEMENT RESTRAINT SYSTEM MAY NOT WORK. THE "CLOCKSPRING" PART CONNECTS TO THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM.
I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND BOUGHT IT FROM A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WITH 45K MILES ON IT. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 53K MILES ON IT AND THE ENGINE FAILED. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR SHUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND AVOID AN ACCENT BUT HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE BELTWAY. I GOT IT TOWED TO A AAA CERTIFIED GARAGE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM FREQUENTLY WITH HYUNDAI. I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM A 3RD PARTY AND LUCKILY THE DAMAGE IS COVERED UNDER THE 3RD PARTY WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE ENGINE IS BEING REPLACED BY A REFURBISHED/SALVAGED ENGINE SO I WON'T KNOW WHETHER OR NOT THIS ISSUE WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT HAS HURT MY RESALE VALUE BECAUSE IT WILL NOW BE LISTED IN THE CARFAX.
SUDDENLY MY CAR DEVELOPED A NEW ISSUE OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE STOPPED/IDLE. WHILE MY FOOT IS ON GAS, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY JERK FORWARD/RPM INCREASE. HOWEVER, SO FAR WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE, I HAVEN'T MOVED AS FAR AS I CAN TELL BUT FEARFUL IT MIGHT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR IT WILL DRIVE FORWARD EVEN WITH FOOT ON BRAKE.
AROUND 75K MILES THE STEERING WHEELS IS LOOSE WHEN TURNING LEFT TO RIGHT. WHEN AT A STANDSTILL WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING, THERE IS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE WHEEL, CAUSING IT TO "CLUNK" LEFT AND RIGHT. THIS IS DUE TO A RUBBER POWER STEERING COUPLER (BUSHING). THIS IS ONLY A 5 DOLLAR PART HOWEVER MUCH EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED WHEN REPLACING THIS PART. I BELIEVE HYUNDAI RECALLED THE SONATA FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT I AM WONDERING WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL FOR US ELANTRA OWNERS. THIS IS UNSAFE. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE WHEEL WANTS TO DRIFT SIDE TO SIDE. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART BEFORE PEOPLE START GETTING HURT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA TWO DOOR MODELS WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTED REPAIR FOR THE STEERING FLEXIBLE COUPLING, PART NUMBER: 56315 2K000FF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JENKINS HYUNDAI (1602 SOUTH WEST COLLEGE ROAD, OCALA, FL 34471, 352-620-2264). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE STEERING WHEEL FAILURE, BUT DID NOT DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THE TRUNK LATCH FAILS AND THERE IS NO WAY TO GET INTO YOUR TRUNK FOR SPARE TIRES, MEDICATIONS, SAFETY ITEMS, ETC. WITHOUT DESTROYING AND CUTTING THROUGH THE BACK SEAT. IF YOU GOOGLE 2013 TRUNK LATCH FAILURE, IT IS VERY VERY COMMON. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. WE CARRY LIFE SAVING MEDICATIONS IN OUR TRUNK DAILY. IF SOMEONE WERE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ONLY TO FIND OUT THE LATCH FAILED, THEY WOULD BE IN DANGER. $400 TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WHICH HAPPENS REPEATEDLY TO SOME CUSTOMERS IS NOT OK. HOW SAFE ARE SEATS THAT HAVE TO BE CUT THROUGH TO GET TO THE TRUNK LATCH? THEY SAID THE PARTS WON'T SHOW WHERE IT WAS CUT BEHIND THE SEATS, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THAT WOULD AFFECT SAFETY AS WELL.
BRAKE LIGHT REPLACED COUNTLESS TIMES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. IT CONTINUES TO BURN OUT.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I GOT IT DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING. THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE TECH SAID THAT THE CLOCK SPRING ITSELF WASNT BROKEN, JUST THAT IT SHORTED OUT. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I GOT IT FIXED AND THERE WAS A CONSENSUS THAT ELANTRAS HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CLOCK SPRING. HYUNDAI DID A PARTIAL RECALL OF ELANTRAS WITHIN 2011-2014 FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THE LIGHT WOULD GENERALLY STAY ON BUT WOULD OCCASIONALLY TURN OFF ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT THEN BACK ON.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE CAR IS RUNNING.

THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN EVER I TURN IT. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 WEEKS. IT IS GETTING LOUDER AND MORE CONSTANT, EVERY TIME I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES A NOISE. THE MECHANIC @ TIRE KINGDOM SAID IT IS THE BUSHING, AND THAT HE SEES ABOUT 8 OUT 10 ELANTRA'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IN HIS GARAGE. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF I AM TURNING ON STREET, BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, PULLING INTO MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK, OT DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT THIS AS IT IS NOT NORMAL.
WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE STATIONARY OR DRIVING, THERE IS A LOUD CRUNCHING SOUND COMING FROM THE WHEEL TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT. SOMEONE TOLD ME I WILL THEN LOSE POWER STEERING & THAT AROUND 21,000-29,000 MILES ON YOUR CAR THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS. A SMALL WHEEL NUT BEHIND THE WHEEL & DASH BOARD BREAKS UP. I AM AFRAID TO LOSE MY POWER STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A NUMBER OF OWNERS.
STEERING CLICKING AND POPPING. NOT REAL NOTICEABLE IN TURNS BUT WHEN GOING STRAIGHT CAR OFTEN DRIFTS. FEELS LIKE 1/4 TO HALF INCH SLACK IN STEERING WHEEL
I'VE BEEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AS A SECONDARY OWNER SINCE 64K MILES, IT'S NOW AT ABOUT 71K. I KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE REGULARLY, BUT LATELY IT'S DEVELOPED A BIT OF A NOTICEABLE TICKING ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD, AND IDLES PRETTY ROUGH WHEN COLD, SEEMS TO GET BETTER AS THE VEHICLE HEATS UP. 3 TIMES, ALL SPACED OUT BY A COUPLE OF MONTHS I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCE A REFUSAL TO START, TRYING AGAIN USUALLY GETS IT TO START BUT ONE OF THOSE TIMES IT ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS MISFIRING SINCE IT SEEMED TO STUMBLE AND NEARLY STALL. I'VE TAKEN IT TO TWO SHOPS AND NOT ONE OF THEM AND HAS BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE UNDERLYING ISSUE LIKE IT'S NOT EVEN THERE, ONE OF THEM ONLY SUGGESTED A BATTERY REPLACEMENT WHICH FUNNY ENOUGH SEEMED TO HELP IT UNTIL RECENTLY, WILL BE TAKING TO HYUNDAI SOON PERHAPS BUT I SEE A TREND OF VERY SIMILAR SYMPTOMS ON HERE.
BRAKE LIGHT IS STAYING ON AT ALL TIMES. I EVEN REPLACED THEM AND ONE STILL STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A CLICK IN IT . THE EPS LIGHT AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME WENT TOO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAID IT WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS COMMON PROBLEM IT HAPPEN ALL AT ONCE AT CITY SPEED

THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER AND MANUALLY PULL THE BRAKE PEDAL UP TO RESUME DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. 2 WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON. DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ALSO NOTICED 2 WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED, THAT THE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY LEAKS, AND WATER POOLS AROUND THE SPARE TIRE. WORRIED ABOUT WATER DAMAGE CAUSED TO THE SPARE TIRE, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF MOLD GROWING.
BRAKE LIGHTS ALL BURNT OUT AT THE SAME TIME INCLUDING THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT - REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR AND ALL LIGHT BULBS - WAS NOTIFIED BY ANOTHER DRIVER THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT WORK - THE COST FOR REPAIR WAS $135.00 - I CAN SEE MAYBE 1 LIGHT OUT BUT NOT ALL BRAKE LIGHTS OUT AT THE SAME TIME
I HEARD A SOUND WHEN I STARTED TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, LEFT OR RIGHT DIRECTION. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS MODEL CAR HAS A RECALL ABOUT THIS ISSUE
WHENEVER THE VEHICLE TRAVELS OVER SLIGHT BUMPS, OR INDENTATIONS ON THE ROAD, THE REAR END OF THE CAR UNSETTLES AND PUSHES RIGHT. WITH INCREASE IN TRAVEL SPEEDS, THE REAR END GET MORE UNSTABLE. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, IT BECOMES SO BAD THAT WHENEVER THERE IS ANY SLIGHT BUMPS OR SURFACE IMPERFECTION, THE REAR OF THE CAR HOPS RIGHT VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT OR STARTS TO FISHTAIL AND SOMETIMES BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE. SPECIALLY ON WET SURFACE. IT IS HARD TO GET THE CAR BACK IN CONTROL WHEN NOT CAREFUL AND MAY CAUSE A MAJOR AND FATAL ACCIDENT. WHICH CHECKING FOR THE ISSUE, IT APPEARS THAT IT IS COMMON ISSUE AMONG ELANTRA OWNERS. IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE DRIVING, MY CAR FISHTAILED SO VIOLENTLY THAT TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME AND IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL. FEW TIMES, THE CAR FISHTAILED AND ENDED UP IN RIGHT SIDE LANE WITHOUT ME WANTING IT TO DO THAT. THESE ALL HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT IS LESS SEVERE ON CITY SPEEDS BUT STILL NOTICEABLY BAD.
I WAS REAR ENDED AT A HIGH SPEED AND PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING ME TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND BREAK MY NOSE.
AT APPROXIMATELY 93000 MILES, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. AT THE SAME TIME THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS FOR THE PHONE/RADIO ALSO FAILED. APPARENTLY IT IS A COMMON FAILURE WITH 2013 ELANTRAS.

DRIVING IN THE PASSING LANE OF THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE BECAME UNABLE TO ACCELERATE THEN DECELERATED RAPIDLY. I MADE MY WAY OVER TO THE SHOULDER IN A PANIC AS THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT START. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, AND EPS LIGHT UP AS THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. UPON TAKING TO MY MECHANIC I WAS GIVEN A TECHINCAL SERVICE BULLETIN AND ADVISED TO WORK WITH THE DEALERSHIP. ONCE DIAGNOSED AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND IT WILL COST $9,000; I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A YEAR AGO AND STILL OWE 5,800 DOLLARS ON IT. I AM AWARE OF CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST HYUNDAI FOR THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED IN CANADA FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I AM HORRIFIED AT THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SYMPATHY EXHIBITED BY HYUNDAI AS I MADE CONTACT WITH CORPORATE ABOUT THE ISSUE. I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THIS ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT 116,000 MILES AND HYUNDAI KNOWS THAT THOUGH THE APPEAR IGNORANT TO THIS DEFECT WHEN CONFRONTED.
RADIO AND SOME SENSORS IN ENGINE NOT WORKING. SENSORS SHOW MY ENGINE LIGHT ON BUT WHEN CHECKED SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN ON, FUSE WAS REPLACED AND DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN WITH THE CAR IS BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN HER VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT DROVE INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER. THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS SMASHED IN AND HAD TO BE FORCED OPEN. THE FRONTAL AND SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A FRONTAL COLLISION. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A MILD CONCUSSION AND BRUISING TO THE FACE AND UPPER BODY. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM VIA AMBULANCE. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS COMPLETELY SMASHED IN TOWARDS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. THE PASSENGER WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR ON JANUARY 9, 2018. AN UNKNOWN CARMAX DEALER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND TOWED TO A SCRAP YARD BY THE POLICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,119.

WE TURNED THE CAR OFF CAME BACK TO LEAVE AND IT WOULD NOT START FIX THE PROBLEM THAT IT SAID AND THAT DIDNT FIX IT. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYING ON. TOOK THE CAR TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSIS CODE WAS HIGH RESISTANCE. I AM TOLD THIS IS A BROKEN WIRE. HYUNDAI REFUSED TO PAY THE $360 REPAIR. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY ALSO REFUSED TO PAY THE REPAIR. WHEN THE LIGHT IS STAYING ON, IF IN AN ACCIDENT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY. THE CAR ONLY HAS 67,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. I SPOKE WITH THEIR CUSTOMER CARE DEPT, THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THEIR WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON SOME MODELS, BUT THEY SAY MY CAR ISNT ON THE LIST. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BBBAUTO LINE, AND THE MISSOURI STATE ATTY GENERAL. AT NO TIME IS MONEY MORE IMPORTANT THAN CONSUMER SAFETY. I ONLY ASK FOR THEM TO RIGHTFULLY REPAIR MY CAR. THEY ADVERTISE HOW SAFE THEIR CARS ARE AND THERE ARE 6 AIR BAGS. UNFORTUNATELY THEY DONT WORK. PLEASE HELP AND MAKE OTHER CONSUMERS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM THANK YOU

ALSO, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT SECURED AND WOULD MOVE APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF AN INCH. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A BUSHING IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOLLER HYUNDAI (1150 N. ORLANDO AVE, WINTER PARK, FL) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
STEERING WHEEL RATTLES AND MAKES NOISES WHEN TURNING. FEELS LIKE THERE IS TO MUCH PLAY IN STEERING. WORRIED ABOUT HAVING ISSUES OF SAFETY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES. WHEN SWERVING TO AVOID ANIMAL FELT LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL.
