THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT AT THE 61,000 MILE MARK. TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE THE CLOCK SPRING WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THEY WERE WILLING TO REPLACE THE CLOCK SPRING BUT AT A COST OF $495 DOLLARS. I ASKED WHY THEY WERE CHARGING SINCE THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER AND SAFETY PROBLEM AND THEY DETERMINED THAT MY CAR WAS NO LONGER COVERED SINCE I HAD GONE OVER THE 60,000 MILE MARK. I CALLED HYUNDAI USA TO REPORT MY CONCERN FOR THIS SAFETY HAZARD AND ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS THAT THEY COULD NOT COVER IT DUE TO MILEAGE. I AM GREATLY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND SELF KNOWING THAT THE AIRBAG IS DISABLED IF A CAR CRASH WERE TO OCCUR. THIS IS THE ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION THAT I HAVE AND UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A SAFETY DEFECT AND HAZARD WHICH I FEEL HYUNDAI SHOULD FIX AT NO COST.
AIR BAG LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING, SINCE 8/17/2019. NOW IT IS ON ALL OF THE TIME. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY RECENT ACCIDENTS, OR RECEIVED ANY DAMAGE. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS PROBABLY A CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. $79 DEALER FEE JUST TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE, BEFORE PARTS AND LABOR TO REPAIR. SEEMS TO BE PRETTY COMMON FOR HYUNDAI VEHICLES OF THIS AGE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL!
WHILE SITTING IN THE CAR NOT DRIVING A LOT OF PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL.WHILE DRIVING SAME WAS READING FORUMS THAT IT COULD BE A RUBBER RING. IT ALSO MAKES A CLICKING NOISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR SUDDENLY EXPLODED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE CLOCK SPRING CONTACT ASSEMBLY FOR THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) HAS BECOME DAMAGED THROUGH USAGE OVER TIME. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT EXPERIENCES A HIGH RESISTANCE CONDITION, CAUSING THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG TO NOT DEPLOY. THE CLOCK SPRING DEVELOPS HIGH RESISTANCE, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE DRIVERS AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES. HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED A RECALL/TSB FOR THE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA SEDAN, BUT NOT THE HATCHBACK WHICH UTILIZES THE EXACT SAME PART. THE REPAIR COST IS ALMOST $500 AT THE DEALER AND BECAUSE THE REPAIR INVOLVES REMOVING THE AIRBAG AND REMOVING THE STEERING WHEEL IT POSES A SAFETY RISK FOR SHADE TREE MECHANICS. THE ATTACHED TSB SHOULD ALSO APPLY TO THE ELANTRA HATCHBACK AS WELL,
MY (AND MY SON'S) 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRAS BOTH HAVE BEGUN EXHIBITING THE FAILURE PROCESS THAT WILL INEVITABLY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF THE "ELECTRONIC ASSIST" POWER STEERING. OUR HYUNDAIS NOW HAVE A VAGUE DEAD-SPOT IN THE STEERING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED OFF CENTER AT ANY SPEED. YOU CAN FEEL IT THE MOST WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. THE "DEAD-SPOT ANGLE IS GETTING WIDER AND WIDER AS THE RUBBER SLIP-JOINT PART INEVITABLY DISINTEGRATES THIS RUBBER BUSHING IS A SHEAR DEVICE BETWEEN THE MECHANICAL STEERING SHAFT AND AN ELECTRIC MOTOR THAT POWERS THE HYUNDAI'S STEERING RATHER THAN TRADITIONAL HYDRAULIC PUMP POWER STEERING FOUND ON MOST CARS. MY NEIGHBOR'S HYUNDAI WENT FULLY THROUGH THE FAILURE PROCESS THAT RESULTED IN NO POWER ASSISTED STEERING AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THE FAILURE OF THIS $1.25 (RETAIL) PART IS SO COMMON IN MANY HYUNDAI MODELS LIKE THE ELANTRA, THAT THE PARTS DEPARTMENT KEEPS A BOX OF THEM CONSTANTLY ON HAND FOR THE INEVITABLE FAILURE OF THIS PART IN EVERY HYUNDAI MODEL THAT USES IT. IT'S A HUGE PROFIT PRODUCER FOR THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT, SO I CAN UNDERSTAND THEIR RELUCTANCE TO REDESIGN THIS PART. HOWEVER, I CAN'T CURRENTLY AFFORD THE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF LABOR CHARGE THAT HYUNDAI DEMANDS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED PART, SO I DON'T LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE SHE MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO REACT TO THE LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST AT HIGH SPEEDS. I DRIVE THE CAR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. HYUNDAI IS WELL AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON 2010 MODELS BUT ENDED THE RECALL WHEN THEY PROBABLY TOLD THE NHTSA THAT THEY CORRECTED THE PART. IN ACTUAL FACT, THEY DIDN'T FIX THE INHERENT DEFECT AND IF YOU DO A SEARCH ONLINE YOU WILL SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL BEING ENDANGERED BY THIS DEFECT.
STEERING WHEEL IS CLICKING AND LOOSE. MAKES STEERING DIFFICULT. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS.
MY CAR FEEL LIKE IT DON'T WANT TO STOP I THINK IT'S SOMETHING GOING ON WITH MY BRAKES PADS IT FEEL LIKE IT'S NOTHING UNDER MY FEET LIKE I CAN FEEL EVERYTHING I DON'T KNOW IT'S IT'S LIKE A FEELING YOU HAD TO BE IN THE CAR TO FEEL IT AND IT DON'T DO IT ALL THE TIME THAT'S WHAT'S SCARY IT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S WET TOO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT 3 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNINTENDEDLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO FOUR PARKED VEHICLES AND A FEW PARKING SIGNS. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A BROKEN PATELLA ON THEIR RIGHT LEG, THEY HAD A BAD ABRASION ON THEIR LEFT LEG, A HEMATOMA ON THEIR SKULL AND BLACK EYES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THEIR VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE IN THE OTHER VEHICLES THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CURRENTLY INSPECTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED HYUNDAI OF ASHVILLE (860 TUNNEL RD, ASHEVILLE, NC 28805 (828) 298-4911) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY INSTRUCTED THEM TO NOT CALL THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AIRBAG SRS LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH PANEL WITHOUT REASON WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN A PARKED POSITION AND HAS STAYED ILLUMINATED SINCE FIRST APPEARING. THE LIGHT HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW. RECENT DIAGNOSTICS REPORTED AIRBAG FAULT (CODE B134600 DRIVER AIRBAG RESISTANCE TOO HIGH STAGE #1). SERVICE FACILITY DEEMED FAULT IS SECONDARY TO DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. THE DEFECT CAUSES THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO FAIL AND AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS FAULT.
SUNROOF FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON TOLLWAY, SUN SHADE CLOSED WHICH PREVENTED SHARDS FROM FALLING INTO CABIN.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ANYWHERE AT 35 MPH OR MORE WITH THE SUNROOF TILTED OR OPEN, MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF AIR COME THROUGH DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW TO THE INSIDE OF CAR. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO HEAR EMERGENCY SIRENS OR YOUR STEREO. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD!!
FRONT PASSENGER IN NOT ABLE TO BUCKLE SEAT BELT. WHEN YOU TRY TO LATCH THE SEAT BELT INTO THE ORANGE/RED CLASP HOLDER, THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT STAY LOCKED INTO PLACE. NOW WE WAIT TO SEE IF OTHER SEAT BELTS BECOME UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE IN AN ACCIDENT. WE ARE ALSO DOWN TO ONLY HAVING 4 SEATS AVAILABLE IN THE CAR.
I HAVE REPLACED EVERY LIGHT IN THE REAR OF THIS CAR OVER AND OVER FOR THE PAST YEAR. THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT ACTUALLY MELTED. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH REAR LIGHTS IN A CAR.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN AND WAS ALMOST RUN INTO BY SEVERAL CARS BEHIND AND BESIDE THE CAR. THE CARS ENGINE HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE SEIZED UP EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO WARNING OF EITHER LOW OIL PRESSURE OR HIGH ENGINE TEMP OR ANY ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED. THIS COLD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER HAD THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE HAD NOT TAKEN HEROIC MEASURES TO GET THE VEHICLE SAFELY PULLED OVER AND STOPPED. THIS ACTION COULD HAVE CAUSED THE DRIVER AND POSSIBLY THE OTHER VEHICLES BESIDE AND BEHIND SERIOUS INJURIES AND OR POSSIBLY A FATALITY. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE OVER IT.
AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT AT 80,0000 MILES.
AROUND 5PM ON JULY 18TH AFTER STARTING UP MY PARKED CAR WITH NO ISSUES I PULLED OUT OF A PARALLEL PARKING SPOT AND MADE A LEFT TURN THROUGH A GREEN ARROW AT THE LIGHT. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AND SLOWLY ACCELERATING TO ABOUT 30MPH. I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE GAS A BIT TO COAST. I WENT TO PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE GAS BUT BEFORE I COULD WITHIN ABOUT 10SEC THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND CAME TO A HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. RIGHT AS THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN ALL OF THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS SUCH AS CHECK ENGINE AND ALL THE OTHER ONES ON THE DASHBOARD FLASHED. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE HAZARD LIGHTS DID NOT EVEN COME ON. I IMMEDIATELY PRESSED THE BREAK AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. IT STARTED UP IMMEDIATELY AND I KEPT DRIVING. TOOK CAR TO HYUNDAI DEALER WHO FOUND NO ISSUES AFTER RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK TIRES, SIZE: 205/55/R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN AIR PRESSURE LEAK IN THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK HANNAH VOLKSWAGEN OF PORTLAND (12345 E BURNSIDE ST, PORTLAND, OR 97233) WHERE ALL THE TIRES WERE CHECKED, BUT NO LEAKS WERE FOUND ALTHOUGH WIRES WERE SEEN PROTRUDING FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT DECIDED TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES. THEY MECHANIC ALSO NOTICED AN ALIGNMENT FAILURE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE TIRES TO WEAR AGAIN WITH A POSSIBLE BLOWOUT IF LEFT UNCHECKED. THE CONTACT LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO CALL HIM BACK. THE CONTACT WILL GIVE THEM A RETURN CALL AFTER SPEAKING WITH NHTSA. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,511. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE, DOT NUMBER, AND TIRE LINE WERE UNKNOWN.
MY VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL 'SHUDDERS' UPON TURNING, WHETHER STATIONARY OR MOVING, ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY. I BELIEVE THE EPS TO BE THE PROBLEM AND AM AFRAID THE STEERING WILL SEIZE UP WHILE I AM DRIVING, POTENTIALLY CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD BOTH FOR MYSELF AND FOR OTHERS. THIS HAS OCCURRED EACH TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN IN USE SINCE JULY 10, 2019, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE AND FEELS LOOSE. I HAD VEHICLE AT FIRESTONE FOR ANOTHER REPAIR AND WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THEY SAID IT WAS THE COUPLER AND THERE'S NO RECALL ON THIS BUT THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAY IT IS VERY COMMON IN THESE CARS, THE COUPLER WEARS DOWN AND YOU COULD LOSE STEERING.
CAR WAS PARKED AND LOCKED WITH ALL SYSTEMS OFF. LATER I NOTICED BRAKE LIGHTS ON. CALLED HYUNDAI AND INFORMED THEM INQUIRING IF THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE TO DEALER AND HAVE THEM PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TO DETERMINE CAUSE. THEY SAID IT WAS BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.DEALER CHANGED SWITCH(2),RELAY. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. *JS
CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE STEERING COUPLER...A $4.00 PART. THEN THE DEALER SAID THAT THE FIX IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT IT WOULD COST $410.00 TO CHANGE THIS $4.00 PART. THIS FIX IS IN FACT LISTED AS A RECALL ON THE SAME YEAR ELANTRA SEDAN AND THE SONATA MODELS. SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHY IS THE REPAIR COVERED ON THOSE VEHICLES MENTIONED ABOVE BUT NOT ON THE ELANTRA GT??? IF IT IS A COVERED REPAIR ON AN ELANTRA SEDAN WHY WOULD IT NOT BE A COVERED REPAIR ON A ELANTRA GT SEDAN?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED FOR A LONG TIME WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
STEERING COUPLER FAILURE AT 30,000 MILES. STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNED FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. CALLED DEALER, THEY STATED NEEDS REPAIRED ASAP, STEERING WHEEL COULD LOCK AND CAUSE ACCIDENT. FOUND THAT THIS WAS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND EXTENDED WARRANTIES (TXX7) WERE ISSUED ON SEVERAL MODELS. MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED. COST TO REPAIR WAS $422.26.
THERE IS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL MAKING DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS AND DIFFICULT. THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A POPPING NOISE WHILE DRIVING OR TURNING IT WHEN SITTING STILL. ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL DEALER, HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THIS DEFECTIVE BUSHING USED IN STEERING ASSIST MOTOR BUT HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE STEERING BUSHING HAS DISINTEGRATED! THE SAME BUSHING WAS USED IN SEVERAL OTHER MODELS AS WELL. CHECK THE INTERNET THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. I ONLY HAVE 76K MILES. I WAS TOLD BY CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY WOULD REPAIR THIS IF I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, WHICH I BELIEVE WAS 5YEARS/100K. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS THEY CHOSE TO USE? WHY AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE PART. THERE ARE HUNDREDS WHO HAVE REPORTED ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY LACK OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO EVERYONE ON THE ROAD, NOT JUST HYUNDAI OWNERS. PLEASE HELP MAKE US SAFER. MAKE HYUNDAI RECALL THIS DEFECTIVE STEERING ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROUND ROCK HYUNDAI (2405 N INTERSTATE HWY 35, ROUND ROCK, TX 78664, (512) 920-5397) ON NOVEMBER 15, 2016 TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOMAX FORD (3301 E CENTRAL TEXAS EXPY, KILLEEN, TX 76543, 254-699-2629). THE DEALER RAN A FULL FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 15964028. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,311.
2015-KEY WON'T RELEASE FROM IGNITION, REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. 2017-SAME ISSUE, CANT REPRODUCE ISSUE, NOT REPLACED BY DEALER. 2018-CAR WON'T START, BATTERY REPLACED. 2019-CAR WON'T START. DASH LIGHTS COME ON, CAR CLICKING BUT WON'T START. JUMPSTARTED CAR. WHILE DRIVING AFTER JUMPSTART THE RADIO INTERMITTENTLY WENT OFF. TOOK IN FOR REPAIR AND ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WAS REPLACED. NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING, CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF TWICE. 6 DAYS LATER-CAR WON'T START AFTER DRIVING IT 3 MILES, CLICKING AGAIN AND THE ENGINE, OIL, AND CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT ON. HAD TO WALK HOME IN THE DARK IN A HIGH CRIME CITY
I DROVE MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA TUESDAY EVENING AND PARKED IT AT 9PM. WENT TO START MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AT 730AM AND IT WOULD NOT START. ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON, HEADLIGHTS AND RADIO WORKED THE CAR JUST WOULD NOT START. I TRIED TO START IT 5 MORE TIMES, IT IS PUSH START. I CALLED AND HAD MY CAR TOWED THAT EVENING, THE TOW GUY CAME AND PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I STILL HAD THE CAR TOWED BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SO MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. IT HAS BEEN AT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP FOR 4 DAYS NOW AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. IT HAS STARTED A COUPLE TIMES FOR THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOT CONSISTENTLY. I KEEP CALLING AND ASKING WHAT THE ISSUE IS BUT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMMENTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL THIS IS NOT FAIR TO US AS HYUNDAI CUSTOMERS. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND PAID FOR BY HYUNDAI.

I OWN A WHITE 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND THE PAINT IS PEELING BACK EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE TO THE AREA. AFTER RETURNING FROM A 120 MILES EXPRESSWAY TRIP THE PAINT IS PEELING AWAY.

THE SRS (AIR BAG) INDICATOR REMAINED LIT AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND THE STARTUP ROUTINE OF CHECKING ALL THE SYSTEMS. THAT HAS NEVER STAYED ON UNTIL 6-3-2019, AND NOW IT WON'T GO OFF. I'VE CHECKED THE FUSE TO THE SYSTEM, CHECKED THE SEAT BELT LATCHES, AND THE CONNECTORS. LIGHT STILL REMAINS LIT WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.

NORTH FREEWAY HYUNDAI (20440 INTERSTATE 45 N, SPRING, TX 77373, (832) 446-4000) DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V574000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE STOPPER AND SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

HOLE FOUND IN ENGINE BLOCK MOTOR, APPEARS TO HAVE THREW A ROD. ENGINE DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. WHEN TAKEN TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, WAS NOT GIVEN A FORMAL DIAGNOSIS OF DAMAGE DESPITE ASKING FOR CAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE. SIMPLY TOLD NEW ENGINE NEEDED RANGING ANYWHERE FROM 4-10K. HYUNDAI DECLINED TO REPLACE ENGINE. HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT SANTA FE'S AND SONATAS WITHIN THE SAME YEAR RANGE HAVE BEEN ISSUED ENGINE RECALLS. BEGINNING TO THINK ISSUES ARE RELATED IN READING OTHER REVIEWS ON ENGINE PROBLEMS WITH 2013 ELANTRA'S. WONDERING WHEN THIS PROBLEM WILL BE RECOGNIZED AS A POTENTIAL RECALL.
I'M HAVING SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEMS AT ONLY 44K MILES INCLUDING FAILED IGNITION COILS & SPARKPLUGS-NOW ENGINE STILL MISFIRING & COILS GOING BAD ONE AT A TIME. AS WITH MANY OTHERS, MY 2013 ELANTRA LIKES TO KICK THE BACK END OUT OVER BUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I PASSED AN ACCIDENT LAST WEEKEND ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE A 2013 ELANTRA HAD CRASHED INTO THE CEMENT BARRIER JUST AFTER A BRIDGE ON WET ROADS. MY CAR JUMPED OVER THE SAME BUMP ALTHOUGH I WAS AT A LOWER SPEED BECAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT AND IT WASN'T AS SEVERE AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IF I WAS GOING FASTER. IT IS MUCH WORSE AS THE CAR GETS OLDER. IT ALSO HAS OTHER ISSUES THAT OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT SUCH AS NOT WANTING TO START (3 TIMES) AND WHITE SMOKE IF YOU ACCELERATE TOO QUICKLY. DEALER HAS BEEN NO HELP.
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION IT MAKES A DECENT CLICKING SOUND HAS BEEN HAPPENING NOW FOR OVER 8 MONTHS IT SEEMS TO ONLY DO IT WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS SLOWLY MOVING & AS WELL NOTICED A LOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING & MY STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT STAY ALIGNED WITH MY TIRES AFTER ALIGNMENT FROM HYUNDAI.
TICKING NOISE FROM ENGINE 82000 MILES ON IT. DEALER SAID AROUND $8000.00 TO REPLACE ENGINE. DEALER SAID EVEN IF I SHOWED I'VE TAKEN CARE OF IT HYUNDAI STILL WONT REPLACE THE FAULTY ENGINE. RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ENGINE PROBLEM IN CANADA WHY NOT HERE IN THE US? SO FRUSTRATING BEING A SINGLE PARENT TRYING TO MAKE ENDS MEET AND NOW HAVING TO DECIDE WHICH IS BETTER TAKE ANOTHER LOAN OUT FOR NEW ENGINE OF AN UPSIDE DOWN LOAN FOR A DIFFERENT CAR. I OWE 7000.00 ON THIS ELANTRA ALREADY AND HAVE HAD IT FOR ONLY A YEAR. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA BECAME SLUGGISH IN ACCELERATING. IT HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. I TRIED FUEL CLEANERS, PREMIUM GAS, AND NOW A TUNE UP REPLACING COIL PACKS AND PLUGS. THE VEHICLE CRAWLS AND DOES NOT ACCELERTE AS QUICK AS IT SHOULD. IT CUTS OFF OR REFUSES TO MOVE WHEN GIVEN GAS AT ALL STOPS. I SWITCH OFF THEN ON AT RED LIGHTS AS IT SEEMS TO WANT TO TAKE OFF WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED. WHEN I REACH ABOUT 50MPH THE RPM HAND GUNS AND THE BOTTOMS OUT TO STAY AT ZERO WITH NO CHANGE IN ACCELERATION. THERE IS NOW A WHIRRING NOISE SPORADICALLY COMING FROM THE ENGINE. AFTER THE TI E UP THE ISSUES CONTINUE WITH CUTTING OFF ,ROUGH IDLING, EXTREMELY SLOW SNAIL ACCELLERATION WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON.

THE PROBLEM HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I ROLLED OVER MY 100,000 MILE WARRANTY SO IT WAS COVERED NO LONGER. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN TO MANY PEOPLE AS THIS IS A VERY POPULAR CAR. I'VE HAD DIAGNOSTICS DONE ON MY CAR AND TOLD IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING THAT HAS MALFUNCTIONED. REVIEWS ALSO HAVE THE SAME MALFUNCTION.

I HAVE A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA COUPE WHICH IS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE MDPS FLEXIBLE COUPLING. THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS CURRENTLY COVERED UNDER THE RECALL FOR HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND SONATA BUT NOT THE ELANTRA COUPE 2 DOOR MODEL WHICH I HAVE. THE ELANTRA COUPE MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME IN RAIN THE WIPERS STOPPED AND RESUMED ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER. AFTER 5 MINUTES THE WIPERS AGAIN STOPPED AND RESUMED ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER.
WE BROUGHT OUR VEHICLE IN, UNDER WARRANTY, FOR ENGINE NOISES AND STALLING. WE WERE TOLD THE PREVIOUS OWNER COULD HAVE NEGLECTED MAINTENANCE AND WE SHOULD DO MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES TO SOLVE THE ISSUE(OIL SLUDGE). THIS WENT ON FOR MONTHS AND THE ISSUE ONLY GOT WORSE. BY THE TIME THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED(PISTONS), WE WERE OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOONE WOULD HELP US. WE LATER FOUND OUT THEY COVERED SOME BEARING ISSUES, BUT NOT PISTON ISSUES. WE DID EVERYTHING RECOMMENDED. THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME DOCUMENTS, I HAVE ASKED MANY TIMES FOR THEM(MCGRATH HYUNDAI OF CEDAR RAPIDS). THIS WAS 2 YEARS AGO. WE ENTERED A CLASS ACTION SUIT THINKING WE WOULD GET THE HELP WE DESERVED. WE AREN'T GETTING HELP FROM THE SETTLEMENT AND THEY ARE NOW SAYING WE WERE OUT OF WARRANTY UPON PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. IF WE HAD THE MONEY TO REPLACE WE WOULD BE GETTING FULL REIMBURSEMENT, BUT WE GET NOTHING SINCE WE WERE FINANCIALLY UNABLE. THE PEOPLE THAT DID GET THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE ARE STILL HAVING ISSUES. I WOULD LIKE THIS ENGINE TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE AND NOT THE DRIVER/PURCHASERS FAULT.
STEERING PROBLEM: WHEN DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL CATCHES NEAR THE CENTER POSITION, TAKING SOME ADDITIONAL FORCE TO MOVE IT. IT IS RELATIVELY EASY TO OVER COME, BUT IT FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS GETTING WORSE. MY HYUNDAI DEALER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO MY INQUIRIES. THE POTENTIAL FOR A STEERING LOCKUP MAY EXIST, THUS THIS ALERT.
