CAR HESITATES ALMOST STALLS FROM A STOPPED POSITION. ALMOST CAUSED SOMEONE TO REAR END ME.
DRIVING CAR WHEEL SHOKE VIOLENTLY, LOUD NOISE UNDER CAR N CAR WOULD RACE FORWARD THEN BACK. WORSE DRIVING 45 MILES OR OVER. DEALER SAID STEERING SHAFT. DAVIS HYUNDAI IN EWING SAID IT WAS BAD N SAFETY ISSUE N WOULD NOT LET ME TAKE N DRIVE CAR HOME TILL PART CAME IN. IS THIS PROBLEM THE DEALER'S RESPONSIBILITY
ORIGINAL TIRE ON NEW CAR PLUGGED BEFORE PURCHASE BY UNKNOWN PARTY. DISCOVERED TODAY WHEN CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER BECAUSE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR CONTINUED TO COME ON EVEN AFTER AIR WAS ADDED TO TIRE. ONLY TIME CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF OUR CONTROL WAS DURING SERVICE AT SELLING DEALER.
CAR LOOSES POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS WHILE DRIVING AFTER ACCELERATING. ON LOCAL ROAD AT 35MPH AND ON HIGHWAY AT 65MPH. THIS OCCURRED FOLLOWING A SERVICE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. CAMPAIGN T1H AND AND CAMPAIGN 150 VCM INSPECT OR REPLACEMENT AND ECM UPGRADE. STARTED HAPPENING AS A VERY SHORT INCIDENT SO I DID NOT REALIZE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. RECENTLY EPISODES WERE A FEW SECONDS LONG SO I COULD DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENED. MULTIPLE TIMES.
MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN IN SEPTEMBER 2016 WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT ON THE HIGHWAY . I PULLED OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS THEY TOLD ME IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THE ENTIRE PROCESS TOOK A MONTH AND A HALF. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE BACK IT WAS DRIVING FINE UNTIL 2 MONTHS LATER WHEN IT SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AGAIN. I PULLED OFF THE MAIN ROAD, TURNED IT OFF, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON IT WORKED FINE SO I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL AND SO I LEFT IT THERE OVERNIGHT. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE RETURNED TO ME FOR THE SECOND TIME, I HAD IT FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS UNTIL IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN. AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AND AGAIN ON A MAIN ROAD. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE, TURNED IT OFF AND ON, AND DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THIS TIME IT WAS THE "THROTTLE BODY" AND THEY WOULD NEED IT FOR ONE TO TWO DAYS. NOT ONLY DO I FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AS IT COULD SHUT DOWN ANY MINUTE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, BUT THIS MARKS THE THIRD TIME HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. IT CAUSES ME TO TAKE TIME OUT OF MY DAY AND MISS WORK CAUSING ME TO LOSE MONEY. IT IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT AND VERY FRUSTRATING. I DO NOT USE THIS CAR TO DRIVE WITH MY KIDS ANYMORE AS I DO NOT TRUST IT WITH THEIR LIVES.
2 WEEKS AGO, I FOUND IN MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE A BAUBLE AND I TOOK THE TIRE TO THE DISCOUNT TIRE TO BE CHECKED. THE TIRE SPECIALIST DISCOVERED OTHER PROBLEMS ON BOTH FRONT TIRES. THE TIRES ARE SEVERELY CUPPED THE INSIDE EDGE. HE RECOMMENDS ME TO CHECK WITH THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, HE NEVER EVER EXPERIENCED THAT TYPE OF PROBLEM IN THE PAST. DEALERSHIP SERVICE WORLD CAR HYUNDAI TOOK THE CAR FOR ENTIRE DAY AND TOLD ME THAT THEY MIGHT THINK IT NEEDS TO BE DONE THE ALIGNMENT. I TOTALLY REFUSED TO DO IT BECAUSE THE ALIGNMENT IS PERFECTLY FINE, MY STEERING WHEEL NOT TURNING IN ANY DIRECTION AND IS NOT SHAKING WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS IS WHAT I FOUND ON FORUM! I WAS DRIVING AT 6:20 AM ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH USING THE SCC (SMART CRUISE CONTROL). ALL OF THE SUDDEN, THE LIGHTS START FLASHING AND THE CAR COMPLETELY TURNS OFF. SINCE IT WAS BEFORE SUNRISE, EVERYTHING WAS BLACK AND I COULDN'T EVEN SEE WHERE I WAS DRIVING, NOT TO MENTION THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOCKED. 10 SECONDS LATER, THE CARE CAME BACK TO "LIFE". IT DID THAT SAME INTRO WITH THE "SYSTEM CHECK" THING AS IT DOES WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED FROM A PARK POSITION- ONLY I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SOMETHING SO ABSURD, BUT I GUARANTEE THAT IF THIS WAS DURING RUSH HOUR OR A BUSIER TIME DURING THE DAY- THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT! *TR
ON JANUARY 16, 2017, AT APPROXIMATELY 3:50PM ARIZONA TIME, ON WESTBOUND I-40 ABOUT TWO MILES FROM EXIT 9, THE LEFT FRONT KUHMO SOLUS TA31 TIRE BLEW OUT ITS SIDEWALL AT 45MPH IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. THE RESULT WAS THE TIRE WAS DESTROYED WITH DAMAGE TO BOTH DRIVER-SIDE WHEELS. IN ADDITION, A BULGE WAS NOTICED IN THE LEFT REAR TIRE. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE DAMAGE TO THE WHEELS IS CONSIDERED COSMETIC AND THEY WERE NOT REPLACED DUE TO A COST OF $427 EACH. THE ROAD CONDITION AND VISIBILITY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WERE EXCELLENT. THE TIRES HAD 17,560 MILES ON THEM AND WERE MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS REGARDING PRESSURE AND ROTATION.
PUT BLINKER ON FOR RIGHT HAND TURN, MADE THE TURN, WHEN THE BLINDER STALK (WHICH ALSO CONTAINS HEADLIGHT CONTROLS) RETURNED TO HOME POSITION, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED MY LIGHTS HAD SWITCHED OFF. MY LIGHT KNOB REMAINED IN AUTO, WITH THE COMPUTER THOUGHT I TURNED THEM OFF. THIS WAS AT NIGHT. I COULD NOT SEE WHEN MY LIGHTS TURNED OFF. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO BE IN MOTION AND HAVE YOUR LIGHTS CUT OUT!!! THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS FREQUENTLY NOW, GETTING WORSE. IT'S OBVIOUSLY A BAD CONNECTION WITHIN THE BLINKER STALK, CAUSING THE LIGHT MODE TO CHANGE ON ITS OWN WHEN TURNING.
MY ENGINE HOOD HAS COME OPEN ON THE FREEWAY TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE ALARMS AND WARNING SOUNDS THAT GO OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENS ARE SO LOUD AND DISTRACTING I LOST TRACK OF MY DRIVING TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. *TR
Engine problem. Massive oil consumption. We bought our 2015 Sonata new and have taken it for service and maintenance at the dealership. I have all records from dealership maintenance. Have been told that its just normal for that engine and to keep adding oil. Now I have to check and add oil weekly or it will be empty. Started having issues in 2017. Hyundai knows there is a problem with the engine. I dont know who to talk to or what I can do.
THE HOSE LEADING TO THE TURBO HAS MELTED OFF. THE CLAMP WITH HOSE RUBBER REMAIN FIRMLY ATTACHED TO THE TURBO WITH THE REMAINDER OF THE HOSE HAS FALLEN BELOW THE TURBO AIR INLET. THE ISSUE OCCURRED SUDDENLY FROM ONE NIGHT TO THE NEXT MORNING. UNDER LOAD, THE TURBO OPERATIONAL NOISE WAS EXTREMELY LOUD COMPARED TO USUAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 40 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED SEVERAL TIMES WITH OIL LEAKING INTO THE HOUSING. THE SEALS WERE RESEALED AND THE HOUSING WAS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING INTO THE HOUSING UNIT AND CAUSED ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LONG ISLAND CITY HYUNDAI IN QUEENS, NY WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND COULD NOT BE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,988.
THE SAFETY SYSTEM ON MY CAR MORE OFTEN THEN NOT WARNS OF DANGER THAT DOES NOT EXIST, ESPECIALLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT AT DAWN AND DUSK. THE CAMERAS FALSELY WARN OF IMPENDING CRASHES OR ALERTING YOU THAT YOU HAVE SWERVED OUT OF YOUR LANE EVEN WHEN YOU'RE DEAD CENTER IN YOUR LANE WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND. HYUNDAI HAS NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled with an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. There was oil leaking from vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the CVT transmission seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred on July 20, 2021. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE HOUSE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE TIRE TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TALK TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
WHITE DRIVING EITHER IN MOTION OR STOPPED BEHIND A LIGHT, ENGINE STARTS TO SHAKE AND STALL. THIS MAKE THE CAR SHARE HEAVILY AND NUDGE FORWARDS AND BACKWARDS UNTIL THE CALL STALLS OUT. THEN THE DASH GETS LIT UP WITH ALL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. THEN, PRESSING THE START BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL THE VEHICLES STARTS. THE CAR DOES THIS EVERY SO OFTEN. YOU DRIVE OFF, IT SHAKES AND STALLS, IT HAS A HARD TIME STARTING. THEN IT STARTS AND EVERYTHING SEEMS NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST 1 OR 2 TIMES A MONTH. MY VEHICLE HAS A LITTLE OVER 16K MILES ON IT AND HAS STALLED 4 TIMES. ONCE AFTER WAITING AT A LIGHT IN THE CITY, ONCE WHILE DRIVING APPROX 10 MPH IN A PARKING LOT AND THE WORST WHILE TRYING TO CLIMB A STEEP HILL IN A RURAL AREA AS I WAS LEAVING HOME. THE CAR SLOWLY ROLLED DOWN THE HILL, I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER BACKWARDS AROUND THE CURVES BUT THERE WAS NO POWER. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY OTHER CARS SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE BLIND CURVES. THE CAR REMAINS ON BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED. AFTER IT STALLS,I TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT WILL NOT RESTART. THE LAST TIME IT TURNED BACK ON AFTER AT LEAST 30 MINUTES. HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A LOOSE GROUNDING WIRE TO THE FUEL PUMP. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, NEXT TIME IT STALLS I MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY. RESEARCHING ONLINE THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES WHICH I PLAN ON DISCUSSING WITH THE DEALER. ME AND MY WIFE WERE DRIVING TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON A ROAD TRIP. WHEN ACCELERATING UPHILL, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO ABOVE 3,500 RPM'S. IMMEDIATELY THE FUEL CUTOFF AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOTICED THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 3,500 RPM'S. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MANUAL MODE AND SELECTED A GEAR THAT WAS BELOW 3,500 TO MAKE IT UP THE "GRAPEVINE" HILL. SOON AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE VCM MOTOR- CODE P0200A. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER SERVICE WAS GREAT. WE WERE LUCKY THIS MALFUNCTION DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONE AND NEEDED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE OR DRIVE UPHILL. SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCELERATE. *TR

THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A JEEP AND DAMAGED THREE OTHER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,300.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 51 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE COLLIDED HEAD ON INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT PASSENGER SUFFERED SEVERE SPINAL CORD INJURIES (INTERNAL DECAPITATION). THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER, ANKLE, FOOT WRIST, HAND, AND HIPS. THE CONTACT WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, LEG, ANKLE, ABRASIONS, A BLOOD CLOT, LUNG FAILURE, A VERTEBRAL FRACTURE, A BROKEN ARM/FOREARM, AND WRIST. THE SEAT BELT SEVERED THE CONTACT'S ARTERY. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE ALSO SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED FOR ALL OCCUPANTS AND THEY WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE AND THE REAR MIDDLE SEAT PASSENGER IN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE LATER SUCCUMBED TO THEIR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD WHERE THE POLICE AND INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS DESTROYED. WHILE STATIONARY I NOTICED THE CAR'S ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS TICKING. I DROVE OFF ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SPEED UP TO KEEP THE VEHICLE RUNNING. I HAD MY PASSENGER WHO WITNESSED THE INCIDENT AND WE RECORDED USING THE CELL PHONE TO RECORD THE INCIDENT. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN OFF AGAIN. EVENTUALLY IT CUT OFF COMPLETELY. I HAD TO RESTART AND THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO PAST 50 MPH. THE ENGINE SHOOK THE ENTIRE CAR AND SOUNDED LIKE THE GEARS DID NOT WANT TO SHIFT. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE OR FIND ANY CODES ON THEIR SYSTEM. THIS SAME THING HAPPEN TO MY 2011 SONATA IN WHICH HYUNDAI REFUSE TO PAY IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BECAUSE I TRADED OUT OF THE VEHICLE A YEAR AFTER THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE ALSO STALLED WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND STARTED SMELLING LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE WHILE SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE ENGINE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. SHORTLY AFTER EXITING INTERSTATE AND SLOWDOWN FOR SIGNAL, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE, LIKE I WASN'T EVEN GIVING IT GAS. I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED TWICE AND TOWED ONCE FOR STALLING WHILE DRIVING, SHUDDERING, SPUTTERING. TOOK WAITING AND NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO GET IT RESTARTED. THE SECOND TIME, THE DEALER KEPT IT FOR A WEEK IN OCTOBER AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. (THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT AS I WANT ALL THIS DOCUMENTED). DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T EXIST. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. I JUST DROVE IT BACK FROM OUT OF TOWN THIS WEEKEND (300 MILES) AND I NOTICED THE ACCELERATION WAS QUITE SLUGGISH ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATIONAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS TO THE SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED PRESENCE OF A VEHICLE THAT UNSAFELY MOVED INTO MY TRAFFIC LANE JUST FEET AHEAD OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT AT 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS AND HAD ONLY 1 TO 2 MILES LEFT TO EXIT. SUDDENLY, I FELT SOMETHING WRONG IN THE ENGINE OR POWERTRAIN AS I COULDN'T ACCELERATE MY CAR. HIGH SPEED ENGINE STALL: WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON AUGUST 5, 2016, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH RESULTED IN VEHICLE COMING TO A STOP. ON ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND WOULD NOT RESTART AND THE RESTART ATTEMPT WAS ACCOMPANIED BY NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND VIBRATIONS CAUSING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO SHAKE. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS.

FAULTY ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION, AFTER APPROXIMATELY 9 HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY, OUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN OUR 2015 SONATA. WE WERE ONLY TWO HOURS AWAY FROM HOME AND THE LIGHT WASN'T FLASHING, SO WE CONTINUED DRIVING. WHILE ON AN ACCELERATION RAMP CHANGING HIGHWAYS, THE CAR SPUTTERED AND SEEMED TO BE LOSING POWER, EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY FLOORED. THANKFULLY, THE ENGINE DIDN'T SHUT OFF AND WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE SEEMED TO "MIS-FIRE" AND THE CAR WAS HESITATING AND RIDING ROUGH. THE NEXT DAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT CAME BACK ON, AND WHILE TRYING TO GAIN ENOUGH SPEED TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS CUTTING OUT AND BEGAN TO RIDE ROUGH AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED HYUNDAI TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT. WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT, THE SCHEDULER INDICATED THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR. I ASKED IF IT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON, AND I WAS TOLD IT DIDN'T. I TOOK THE CAR IN, AND AFTER 2 OR 3 HOURS THEY CALLED AND SAID MY CAR WAS READY AND THEY HAD REPLACED A FAULTY ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE), WHICH HAD CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. NO MENTION WAS MADE OF THE RECALL. AFTER READING ALL THE POSTS ON THIS SITE, I AM CONVINCED THE PROBLEMS PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THEIR ENGINES DYING IS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY ECM. I HAVE SEARCHED EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET ABOUT HYUNDAI RECALLING VEHICLES THAT COULD BE AFFECTED, AND I COULD FIND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. WE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE BY MAIL OR EMAIL EITHER.
