THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS LEFT AND RIGHT DO NOT OPEN. THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED AND THEY BOTH WILL NOT OPEN. YOU HAVE TO PULL THE HANDLE MORE THAN 30 TIMES FOR THE DOORS TO OPEN. IT'S NOT SAFE AND MY CHILD HAS BEEN STUCK IN THE CAR WAITING FOR ME TO GET HER OUT.
RECENTLY, WE'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE INVOLVING THE REAR DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM ON OUR DAUGHTER'S 2016 TUCSON. THE DOORS CAN'T BE OPENED, DESPITE THE CHILD LOCKS BEING DISABLED, THE AUTO AND MANUAL LOCKS BEING UNLOCKED, OR THE MANUAL HANDLES BEING USED FROM INSIDE OR OUT. THE IS A MOST UNSAFE SITUATION, ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. WE HAVE SCHEDULED A MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT WITH OUR LOCAL DEALER (TAMERON HYUNDAI, HOOVER) AT OUR EXPENSE.
Right Rear Tail Light Wiring Harness has short. Since right turn single bulb replaced twice, Passenger side rear door window stripped the Teflon Gear on door Interior panel and door handle is not operational! Since problem started, passenger door handle and window is non Operational, Drivers side door and Window is Not Operational! 2016 Hyundai Tucson with 31,000 miles! Dealership, Billingsley Hyundai and Ford refuse to repair saying it’s out Of Warrenty February’22! Vehicle has an electrical short and has had since 2019 when Right Turn Signal bulb continues to burn out!
MY CAR STALLS AT INTERSECTIONS AND WILL NOT TAKE OFF QUICK ENOUGH TO GET ME OUT OF PEOPLES WAY AND FROM EVERYTHING I AM READING IT IS DUE TO THE DUAL CLUTCH IN MY ECO. I HAVE HAD NO ACCIDENTS YET BUT GETTING REALLY WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS INCLUDING SOMEONE WHO MIGHT HIT ME AS I AM MAKING A TURN WHEN CAR WILL NOT MOVE AHEAD QUICKLY ENOUGH.
THE LOCK ACTUATORS IN THE DRIVER DOOR AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAVE FAILED. THEY VEHICLE WILL UNLOCK BUT THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE ONE COULD BE TRAPPED IN THE CAR DUE TO THE FAULTY LATCHES. HYUNDAI WILL NOT REPAIR THIS AT THEIR EXPENSE AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUES REPORTED ON SEVERAL AUTO FORUMS AS WELL.
CAR USUALLY BOGS DOWN WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A STOP. LIKE IT ISNT GETTING ANY FUEL. MY CAR IS A TURBO AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS NORMAL FOR TURBOS. BULL!
WHEN COLD, CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE WELL ENOUGH TO SAFELY ENTER TRAFFIC. RESPONSE IMPROVES WHEN CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 10 MINUTES. VERY SLUGGISH RESPONSE BY ENGINE/ TRANSMISSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND FOR AT LEAST FIVE SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HORNE HYUNDAI (1360 E AUTO CENTER DR, APACHE JUNCTION, AZ 85219) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. *DT CONSUMER NO HAS THE VEHICLE*JB
HI. I REPORTED THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONING TO TWO DIFFERENT HYUNDAI DEALERS, SERVICE DEPT. THE PROBLEM VARIES FROM NOT BE ABLE TO SET THE SPEED, TO NOT BEING ABLE TO LOWER THE SPEED, TO NOT RESPONDING TO CANCEL, BECAUSE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY . ALL ACTIONS ARE BY USING THE CONTROL TOGGLES ON THE STEERING WHEEL CONSOLE. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, AS SOME TIMES IT WORKS FINE, AND FOR OTHER DRIVES IT WON'T ENGAGE AT ALL, OR WILL NOT DISENGAGE THE SPEED WHEN HITTING CANCEL. I CAN TAP THE BRAKE TO SLOW SPEED, WHICH CAN ALARM A DRIVER BEHIND MY LANE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BEHIND ME. THE SERVICE STAFF CAN NOT GET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DUPLICATE ON A VEHICLE TEST DRIVES. SO WITH THAT, THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT REPLACE THE STEERING LINKAGE, OR ANY PART BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT PROVE IT IS FAULTY. I EXPLAINED HOW IT IS NOT SAFE, ESPECIALLY ON A HIGHWAY WITH NATURALLY HIGHER SPEEDS TO CONSIDER. WITH FIVE REPORTS OF THE FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL ON FILE, AT DIFFERENT HYUNDAI SERVICE CENTERS, THE UNSAFE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS IN THE TUSCON 2016 SUV. I HAVE PAPERWORK SHOWING REPORTED SAFETY CONCERNS SEPT 18, 2018, MAR 27, 2019, JUNE 3, 2019, AUGUST 15, 2019, OCT 16, 2019. PLUS A PERSONAL VIDEO OF PUSHING AND TOGGLING THE CONTROLS WITHOUT CRUISE RESPONSE.THAT IS OVER A YEAR OF THE REPORTING THE MALFUNCTIONING SPEED CONTROL. IT IS UNSAFE WITH NO SOLUTION.
ONCE PER DAY, WHILE DRIVING ON FLAT GROUND, THE CAR DISPLAYS THE MESSAGE "STEEP GRADE! PRESS BRAKE PEDAL" (PAGE 5-20 IN THE OWNERS MANUAL). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR COMPLETELY DIES AND CAN NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES, HOWEVER THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE IT. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS FOR ME ONCE PER DAY! I OPENED A CASE WITH HYUNDAI CORPORATE BUT THE CASE IS OPEN AND UNRESOLVED BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND ONLY HAPPENS ONCE PER DAY. AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM IS STILL A SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT CAUSES THE DRIVER TO LOSE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE! IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD DIRECTLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF THIS AND HYUNDAI AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS NEED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP AND MAKE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED BY THIS DEFECT. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE OCCURRING THAT I'M HAPPY TO SHARE AS WELL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIRST HYUNDAI (270 E WASHINGTON ST, NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, MA 02760) THREE TIMES, BUT WAS NEVER DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. *TT CONSUMER WAS ADVISED BY HOW TO STEP ON PEDALL TO PREVENT DUAL CLUTCH MOMENTARY FREEZE BY THE DEALER EMPLOYEES.*JB
THE DOORS AT TIMES WILL NOT OPEN, POWER WINDOWS WILL NOT GO DOWN. VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN DRIVING. WHEN UNLOCKING DOORS WITH REMOTE, DOORS LOCK BACK ON THEIR OWN.
Latch failure of all 4 doors, passenger side door in 2018, passenger rear door 2018 and again now (2021), driver door 2019, driver rear door 2019. The door latch fails and at first won’t open from the inside. After a few days or weeks, door will not open from outside or inside. This costs over $450 (labor not included) and is a HUGE safety concern! This should not happen in a 5 year old car, especially to ALL 4 DOORS, and one of the doors twice!
INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION OR STALLING WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON ROADS OR PARKING LOTS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE OVER ACCELERATES OR ATTEMPTS TO STALL. THIS HAS OCCURRED OFTEN WITH STARTLING RESULTS. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TWO HYUNDAI DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENTS THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY THE "DOUBLE SHIFT TRANSMISSION" AND THAT ALTHOUGH HYUNDAI IS AWARE, THERE IS NO FIX TO THE PROBLEM -- THAT I JUST HAVE TO GET USE TO IT! UNANTICIPATED ACCELERATION AND/OR STALLING IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FROM DECEMBER 2015 WITH THE MOST RECENT DATE INDICATED BELOW.
THE DOOR WON'T OPEN. IT IS STUCK SHUT. IT OPENED WITH NO PROBLEM OR HITCHES UNTIL WE HAD AN EMERGENCY AND COULDN'T GET THE DOOR OPENED.
THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM IS ACTING UP. THE ANSWER AND HANG UP BOTTOM ON STEER STOP WORKING FOR MONTHS,THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WANT GO DOWN.AND THE KEY IN THE CAR.IT SAY THAT KEY NOT DETECTED
WHILE A PASSENGER WAS ATTEMPTING TO EXIT FROM THE DRIVER SIDE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, THE LATCH WAS NON-OPERATIONAL AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO EXIT USING THE INTERNAL LATCH. CHILD SAFETY MECHANISM WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE EXTERIOR LATCH ALSO DIDN'T FUNCTION. THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION. THIS MADE EXITING FROM OR RETRIEVING A CHILD ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE DURING ANY EMERGENCY SITUATION. THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER CHECKING OWNERS' FORUMS, IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON DANGEROUS FAILURE FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE.
I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT. THE ENGINE DIED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK AND I HAD TO STOP THE CAR PUT IT IN PARK. RESTART THE ENGINE .

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEYES MISSION HILLS HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 10240 SEPULVEDA BLVD, MISSION HILLS, CA 91345, (818) 924-4654) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL AND/OR DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,500.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA HYUNDAI OF FRESNO (LOCATED AT 5590 N BLACKSTONE AVE, FRESNO, CA 93710, (559) 899-3257) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE ECOSHIFT DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 MANUFACTURER HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA COMPONENTS POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WE HAD THIS RECALL 'REPAIR' IN 2017, BUT THE ISSUE REMAINS. NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY WHEN VITAL, SUCH AS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND EVEN AS BASIC AS PULLING AWAY FROM A STOPLIGHT/SIGN. IT IS A DANGER TO US AND OTHER DRIVERS. WE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2015, AND IT ONLY GETS WORSE THE MORE MILES WE PUT ON THE CAR. THE RECALL FIX DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AND WE ONLY JUST LEARNED TODAY FROM HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT WE CAN STILL REQUEST SERVICE, WHICH WE ARE DOING THIS WEEK. BUT, THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RE-EVALUATED. AS TO WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN (BELOW), I WILL PUT TODAY'S DATE, BUT THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY, ALL DAY LONG. WE ARE AWARE THAT IT'S THERE, SO WE COMPENSATE FOR IT ALL THE TIME, AND IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT WAY.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOORS OF MY VEHICLE WILL NOT OPEN PROPERLY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE ONLY OPENS FROM THE INSIDE ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION. THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL.
I HAVE A 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON LTD. 1.6 TURBO, WITH A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT). I LOVE THIS VEHICLE'S DESIGN, FEATURES, AND SPECS. THIS CAR WOULD BE FANTASTIC IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE HAZARDOUS, DEFECTIVE, AND DYSFUNCTIONAL DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. OCTOBER OF 2016 NHTSA HAD HYUNDAI TO ISSUE A RECALL AND IN 2017 A COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPDATE. NEITHER HAS FIXED THE (DCT) ISSUE. FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR A SLOW ROLLING STOP,THE VEHICLES' TRANSMISSIONS LAG, SHUDDER, BUCK, HESITATE, AND LURCHES FORWARD SHIFTING BETWEEN THE FIRST COUPLE OF GEARS. AT ITS WORST IT SEEMS TO STALL THEN PROPEL FORWARD UNCONTROLLABLY. AFTER THE 2ND GEAR THE TRANSMISSION TRANSITIONS SMOOTHLY. THIS SAFETY HAZARD COMES INTO PLAY WHEN DRIVERS ARE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR TRAFFIC. ESPICALLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TIME AND SHOOT A GAP IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE MAY OR MAY NOT ACCELERATE EFFECTIVELY OR AT ALL. THIS UNPREDICTABLE PERFORMANCE IS EXTREMLY DANGEROUS AND LIABLE TO CAUSE OR CONTINUE TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS. THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THIS ISSUE IS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN "SPORT MODE!" THE DCT ISSUE SEEMS TO ONLY AFFECT "ECO" AND "REGULAR" DRIVING MODES. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND TESTIMONIES REVOLVING AROUND THE DCT PROBLEM. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CONSUMERS, DEALERSHIPS' SERVICE DEPARTMENTS, AND HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS. AFTER THE INTIAL RECALL AND SOFTWARE UPDATES ON THE DCT PROBLEMS, THE VEHICLES STILL DEMONSTRATE THE SAME POOR AND DEFECTIVE DCT PERFORMANCE. NOW THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS ARE NO LONGER ACKNOWLEDGING THE DCT DEFECT. THEY SIMPLY REPLY THAT THE ISSUE WAS RECALLED AND FIXED IN 2016 AND 2017 AND THAT "THE CAR IS PERFORMING THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED TO," DESPITE THE CLEAR AND APPARENT DESIGN FLAW! HYUNDAI IS MAKING IT CLEAR TO THE CONSUMERS THAT THEY WILL NOT REVISIT NOR TAKE ACCOUNTABILTY OF THE FAULTY DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER CAR MAX (4300 MCHENRY AVE, MODESTO, CA 95356 (209) 241-5646) WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,959.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE USED, FROM A CAR DEALERSHIP; THEREFORE, IT HAD BEEN SERVICED PRIOR TO PURCHASE. WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF PURCHASE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR QUIT OPERATING. THE CAR WAS PARKED WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING WHEN THE DOOR REFUSED TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. I CHECKED MY WARRANTY. IT WAS STILL IN EFFECT BUT I WAS OVER THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT SO THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. (I COMMUTE TO WORK) SIX MONTHS LATER, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR CEASED TO OPERATE. I TRANSPORTED A DISABLED INDIVIDUAL TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE. THE DOOR WORKED WHEN I LEFT FOR THE DOCTOR'S AS I PLACED A WALKER IN THE BACK. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT THE TIME. WHEN I RETURNED FROM THE DOCTOR, I PARKED, SWITCHED THE ENGINE OFF, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE. THE DISABLED INDIVIDUAL WITH ME COULD NOT WALK WITHOUT THE ASSISTANCE OF THE WALKER. I COULD NOT GET THE WALKER OUT. I HAD TO GO BORROW A WALKER, BRING TO THE INDIVIDUAL TO BE ABLE TO REMOVE HIM FROM THE CAR. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. CURRENTLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR IS BEGINNING TO BE DIFFICULT TO OPEN. IT SOMETIMES TAKES THREE ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE DOOR. I AM AFRAID IT WILL STOP WORKING AS WELL. AT THIS POINT I AM DRIVING AN SUV THAT CAN ONLY SAFELY TRANSPORT TWO INDIVIDUALS AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE ONLY ONE PERSON CAN RIDE IN IT. MY TRUE FEAR IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR STOPS WORKING? I HAVE RESEARCHED FOR A RECALL AND THEIR ISN'T ONE DESPITE THE FACT THEIR ARE NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE ISSUE AS I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY IT WOULD TAKE AND FROM THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ IT WILL ONLY HAPPEN AGAIN. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS TRAPPED IN A CAR AND HURT.
TRANSMISSION ISSUES. WHEN MERGING ON THE FREEWAY, VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. VIOLENT SHUTTERING DURING LOW SPEEDS AND VEHICLE SLIPS OUT OF GEAR BETWEEN 10-20 MPH. HYUNDAI HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. CAT HAD BEEN IN SERVICE FOR 50+ DAY FOR THE SAME ISSUES, 4 TIMES. HYUNDAI REPLACES TRANSMISSION AND I AM STILL HAVE ISSUES WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS.
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

WHEN STARTING FROM A FULL STOP THE CAR HESITATES FOR 3 TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE MOVING; MAKING IT UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS TO PULL OUT. WHEN DRIVING SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC OR IN A PARKING LOT THE CAR BECOMES VERY JERKY AS IF RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT. Left turn signal intermittently not working. Tapping briskly on the turn signal stalk would make it start back up again. Dealer could not reproduce the issue, so no repairs were made. Still happening 5+ years later.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Tuscon Limited Turbo which I bought USED in August of 2018. The same week I left the lot I returned multiple times complaining that the car was hesitating and seemed like the transmission was having problems. The car would hesitate to go from a stop, several times leaving me and my infant (at the time) in the middle of intersections crossing traffic and unable to move. It almost got us SLAMMED multiple times. I explained this to them and they just kept telling me it was because of the turbo. I said NO ONE in their right mind would manufacture a car that goes fast at the cost of safety. That was insane to me but they kept sending me home. I returned over and over and over again for the entire 1st year I had the car with no resolution. Eventually, I also discovered issues if I had to brake hard, several times almost running into the back of people and on 08/08/2020 I actually DID slam into the back of someone. I got to eat the cost of the insurance claim - only later to find out that there was a recall on the ABS system which I believe caused the accident. In 2020 when the transmission died, they replaced it under warranty. It took 49 days to replace, meanwhile I have an infant and riding a bus and riding my bike everywhere because the dealer did not help me with a rental or loaner. Then a year later in the middle of 2021 the engine died which they replaced under warranty, this time providing me with a rental for only a short time of the month long situation. Also racked up tow and tow storage bills exceeding $500 because it broke down on a major road in the middle of the night. Now, on 03/11/2023 I heard a sound coming from the engine which sounded like a cat screaming, coupled with severe hesitation when trying to accelerate. Took it to the dealer and they refuse to fix it, said the warranty company declined it. Called Hyundai Corporate and they said the same thing. Called warranty company and they said NO ONE EVER SUBMITTED A CLAIM!!!!!
THE 2016 MODEL WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IS A HAZARD~! THE POWERTRAIN LAGS WHEN AT LIGHTS, STOPS, SHIFTING GEARS. THIS HAPPENS FROM SIDE STREETS TO HIGHWAY CRUSING/CHANGING LANES AND ETC... I CAN SEE HOW THIS COULD COST LIVES AND I AM GLAD MY LEASE IS UP SOON! I FEEL THE NEED TO ADD A REPORT AND HOPE THIS DOESN'T END UP COSTING ANY LIVES! WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. IT BASICALLY SEEMS TO BE STUCK AND THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED TWICE BECAUSE THE PERSON BEHIND ME DOESN'T KNOW THAT MY CAR WON'T ACCELERATE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT FOR EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THEN JUST STOPPED AND THE LIGHT TURNED AND THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC ALMOST HIT ME. GIVEN A 2016 NATIONAL SERVICE RECALL, (16V628000) PERHAPS YOU ARE AWARE OF THE 'HESITATION' AND RELATED DANGEROUS FLAWS IN THE REGULAR OPERATION OF HYUNDAI TUCSON VEHICLES WITH A 'DUAL CLUTCH' TRANSMISSION. WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE NEW ON 09/05/2015 FROM A HYUNDAI DEALER. WE RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE HESITATION PROBLEM ON 10/19/2015 AND AGAIN ON 11/4/2015, EVENTUALLY A DOZEN TIMES TO VARIOUS HYUNDAI DEALERS IN HOPE OF HAVING A LASTING REPAIR DONE. TO NO AVAIL. WE WERE TOLD REPEATEDLY OF A SOFTWARE UPDATE OR ADJUSTMENT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE WERE TRUSTING EACH TIME, ACCEPTING THE VEHICLE BACK. (SERVICE RECORDS OFTEN STATED THAT A MECHANIC 'COULD NOT REPLICATE' THE PROBLEM AS IF THAT WERE ANSWER TO A PROBLEM THAT WAS KNOWN TO ARISE SPORADICALLY. CONVERSELY, SEVERAL TIMES A SERVICE EMPLOYEE SAID OFF TO THE SIDE THAT THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IN TWO CASES THEY HAD THE SAME ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THEIR HYUNDAI VEHICLES!) THIS HESITATION HAS, FOR SELF-PROTECTION, OFTEN FORCED US TO DRIVE OUT OF OUR WAY TO AVOID BUSY UNCONTROLLED INTERSECTIONS AS A MID-CROSS HESITATION COULD RESULT IN THE HIGHLY DANGEROUS, INFAMOUS 'T-BONE' ACCIDENT. IT HAS CAUSED NEAR REAR-END COLLISIONS AS DRIVERS BEHIND US DO NOT EXPECT A SUDDEN PAUSE IN MOVEMENT. CONCERNS OF ACCIDENTS PRODDED US AT TIMES TO INSTEAD DRIVE A MUCH OLDER CAR WITH 200,000 MILES. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT OF A PRIVATE DRIVE AGAIN 4 DAYS AGO, WITH PLENTY OF TIME BEFORE ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS CLOSE, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WITH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT FINALLY DID ACCELERATE WHEN TRAFFIC WAS DANGEROUSLY CLOSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY AND IS UNACCEPTABLE. I AM PREGNANT AND THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS. DOES THERE HAVE TO BE AN ACCIDENT BEFORE IT GETS FIXED? IT NEEDS FIXED NOW! IT WAS 6:56PM, NOT THE PRIME HEAT OF THE DAY AS MANY USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE. I HAVE OWNED A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON FOR 2.5 YEARS. IN THAT TIME IT HAS BEEN IN FOR SEVERAL ISSUES THAT CAN NOT BE DUPLICATED WHEN AT THE SERVICE CENTER AND DEEMED "WORKING FINE, NO CODES PRESENT AT THIS TIME". NOW THE COMPUTER/DASH BOARD IS RESTARTING ITSELF AT 45 MPH . THIS HAS OCCURRED TWO TIMES. THE DASH BOARD WENT DARK FOR 1 SECOND AND THEN STARTED BACK UP THROUGH IS STARTUP SEQUENCE. DURING THIS TIME, THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING BUT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE TRANSMISSION. IF YOU PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL IT WILL INCREASE RPMS BUT NOT ACCELERATE. DURING THIS TIME IT IS NECESSARY TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON. AGAIN, NO CODES THROWN AND NOT REPRODUCIBLE AT THE SERVICE CENTER. THE SERVICE CENTER FOUND THAT THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WAS NOT COMPLETELY TIGHT AND THOUGHT MAYBE THIS CAUSED THE ISSUE. I AM FRUSTRATED THAT SOMETHING THAT COULD HAPPEN EASILY AS THIS DOESN'T SHOW UP AS AN ERROR SINCE IT CAUSED A UNSAFE DRIVING ENVIRONMENT. 24 HOURS AGO, WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AT A BUSY STREET THE CAR STARTED FORWARD WHEN GAS PEDAL PRESSED BUT THEN STOPPED MOVING FORWARD ONLY TO LURCH FORWARD AFTER A SECOND AND PICK UP SPEED. IN NOVEMBER 2017 I PURCHASED A 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON. APPARENTLY, THE VEHICLE HAS A "DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION" DCT. RECENTLY WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND THEN PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE LUNGED JERKING MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. IN ADDITION WHILE IN TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO SHUDDER UNTIL NEAR STALL. THIS IS BOTH SCARY AND ALARMING. THE SHUDDERING OCCURS WHEN EITHER ROLLING FORWARD, ACCELERATING THE GAS, OR SITTING IDLE. THIS HAS BECOME A SERIOUS CONCERN AS MY CAR JUST DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATION AT ALL AT TIMES. THIS IS BECOMING INCREASING SCARY AND UNSTABLE IN MY OPINION. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE NOW AND GET NO REAL ANSWERS EXCEPT THAT THE CAR CHECKS OUT FINE AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
SITTING IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF A ACCIDENT MY TUCSON WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELATOR FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS THE RPMS WOULD GO UP, THEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNG FORWARD. THIS CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. I BELIEVE THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IS AT FAULT.
WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL, FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY GO. IT SLOWLY MOVES, AND THEN TAKES OFF AFTER ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS. IF STEPPING LIGHTLY ON THE GAS PEDAL, MOVING SLOWLY ("CREEPING"), AS IF THROUGH A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERS AND JERKS.

THE LOCAL DEALER (BOB STALLINGS HYUNDAI, 39444 LBJ FREEWAY S., DALLAS, TX) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
THE RIGHT PASSENGER BRAKE LIGHT SAYS IT IS OUT. WITHIN SAME DAY OR SOON AFTER WILL BE WORKING AGAIN. I REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB IT STOPS WORKING THE SAME DAY OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER. SOUNDS LIKE A WIRE ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. IT WILL BE WORKING THE WHOLE DAY AND SUDDENLY WHEN I PUSH THE BRAKE IT GOES OUT.
WE BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE SHOWROOM FLOOR WITH 0 MILES ON THE SPEEDOMETER. WHEN WE BACK OUT FROM THE DEALER PARKING LOT AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD AT ALL. THE SALESMAN ENDED UP BACKING THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPT WHERE THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION. IT RAN FINE FOR A MONTH OR TWO THEN STARTED STALLING AGAIN. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION AND ONCE AGAIN IT RAN FINE FOR A SHORT PERIOD UNTIL RESUMING THE STALLING EFFECT AGAIN. NOW, THE TRANSMISSION STALLS AND/OR SHUTTERS CONSTANTLY WHEN TAKING OFF, CAUSING US TO ALMOST BE HIT BY ONCOMING CARS. THE MILEAGE IS ONLY 11,000 AND THE POWERTRAIN HAS A 10YR/100,000 MILE UNLIMITED WARRANTY, BUT HYUNDAI SAYS THE TRANSMISSION IS ACTING EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON WITHOUT ANY AUGURIES WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. WE PULLED OVER THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BUT THE CAR COULD NOT BE STARTED AGAIN AFTER WE TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, AND THEN WE WERE TOLD THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN WE ASKED HOW IT HAPPENED, THEY TOLD US THAT OUR ENGINE OIL PLUG WAS MISSING, SO ALL THE ENGINE OIL WAS DRAINED OUT. THEY CHECKED OUR MAINTENANCE RECORD, AND FOUND THAT WE HAD AN OIL CHANGE THREE MONTHS BACK AT ANOTHER HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT COULD BE POSSIBLE THAT THE ENGINE OIL PLUG WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED DURING LAST MAINTENANCE SERVICE, BUT THEY WERE NOT SURE ABOUT IT, AFTER ALL IT HAD BEEN 3 MONTHS NOT 30 MINUTES SINCE THEN. WE WERE NEVER GIVEN A SURE REASON FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT WAS TAKEN CARE OF BY HYUNDAI WARRANTY. PERSONALLY I DON'T THINK THE 'MAINTENANCE MISTAKE' HYPOTHESIS MAKE SENSE. WE DID NOT DRIVE THIS CAR DAILY, MAXIMUM AVERAGE USAGE WAS ABOUT WEEKLY, BUT LONG DISTANCE MOST TIMES. IF THE PLUG WAS LOOSE DUE TO THE MAINTENANCE, WE SHOULD HAVE A PROBLEM SOONER UNLESS THE OIL DOESN'T DRAIN WHEN A CAR IS PARKED. IN ADDITION, IT COULD NOT BE SOMEONE LOOSE THE PLUG AT A PARKING LOT ON PURPOSE EITHER. BECAUSE WHEN WE DROVE THE CAR OUT, WE DID NOT NOTICE ANY OIL TRACE ON THE GROUND, AND WE HAD BEEN CONTINUOUSLY DRIVING THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS BEFORE THE ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENED. THE MOST POSSIBLE REASON THAT I COULD THINK OF IS THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE. I AM HOPING THIS ISSUE CAN BE BROUGHT INTO A FORMAL INVESTIGATION, BECAUSE IT COULD LEAD TO VERY SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES.
AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE THE MILEAGE WAS NOT ADDING CORRECTLY, I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 104 MILES ON IT AND AFTER 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES THE TOTAL MILES ON MY CAR WAS 150. MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY STARTS ON OCCASION WHEN I USE MY KEY FOB TO LOCK MY DOORS. MY STEREO/GPS/BACK UP CAMERA VIEW DOESN'T WORK AT TIMES. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCURRENCES IN WHICH THE TRANSMISSION FEELS AS THOUGH IT 'SLIPS' AND OTHERS IN WHICH I HAVE TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR (GAS PEDAL) TO THE FLOOR TO GET MY CAR TO MOVE. TODAY I WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL, UPON GREEN I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR (GAS PEDAL) AND MY CAR RESPONDED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL AND I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE ENGINE REVVED AND IT MOVED A FEW FEET. I HAVE LESS THAN 33,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND I HAVE HAD ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY SAY THEY 'CAN'T DUPLICATE' THE ISSUES I'M HAVING. TRANSMISSION APPOINTMENT IS TOMORROW. I WOULD LIKE NOTIFICATIONS OF ANY RECALLS, I AM UNABLE TO CHECK THE BOX AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE I AM SUBMITTING.
THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SPORT MODELS THAT HAVE THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLES HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND WILL THEN LAUNCH FORWARD ONCE THE GEAR ENGAGES. THE RPMS WILL SHOOT TO 3 AND THEN DROP TO JUST ABOVE 0 MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE REACHING 20 MPH. MY VEHICLE IS ALSO MAKING A RATTLING SOUND WHEN IDLING AND ACCELERATING AT SLOW SPEEDS. HYUNDAI HAS DONE THEIR RECALL UPDATE BUT IT IS NOT COMPLETELY FIXING THIS ISSUE AND JUST MAKING IT SLIGHTLY LESS DRAMATIC. I HAVE ASKED HYUNDAI MULTIPLE TIMES TO ADDRESS THIS AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO ADDRESS OT SAYING IT IS JUST A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSIONS TO AVOID HAVING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLES . I HAD A TECH AT HYUNDAI TELL ME THAT HYUNDAI WILL SAY IT'S NORMAL BUT IT'S NOT NORMAL. PLEASE PLEASE INVESTIGATE. MY VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN I WAS MERGING FROM A STOP TO ANOTHER LANE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT 40 MPH ON A CITY STREET, IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND MOVED. IT ALSO HESITATED WHILE I WAS TURNING FROM A DRIVEWAY AND THEN JERKED AND KICKED FORWARD. THIS IS NOT SAFE !
INSTALLED TRAILER HITCH AND WIRING ON SAID 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON AND WIRING MODULE SHORTED OR MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING DEFECTIVE LIGHTING ON TRAILER. CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM DOES EXIST FROM HYUNDAI ( RECALL CAMPAIGN 153 ) AND THIS VEHICLE DOES FIT THE MANUFACTURE DATE WITHIN THE RECALL BUT THE DEALER AND HYUNDAI CUSTOMER WHEN NOTIFIED SAID THAT THIS VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH I AM HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEM THE RECALL IS FOR. I AM MAKING THIS NOTICE IN THAT SHOULD THERE BE A PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE THAT I HAVE TRIED TO GET THE PROBLEM RESOLVED AND THE COMPANY CHOOSES TO DISMISS MY CLAIM. WHEN ACCELERATING I STEP ON THE GAS AND THE CAR BARELY MOVES FORWARD AND THEN YOU CAN FEEL THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGE WHILE THE RPMS CONTINUE TO RISE BUT AT THIS POINT YOU ARE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WITH NO POWER, IM SURE YOU CAN IMAGINE THE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THIS. THEN, SOMETIMES 2 SECONDS, SOMETIMES 5-10 SECONDS LATER THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AND THE CAR LAUNCHES FORWARD DUE TO THE HIGH RPMS. IM SURE THIS ISNT GOOD FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND IT IS EASY TO LOSE CONTROL OF A CAR LAUNCHING IN THIS MANNER. WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS ON THE ROAD. THERE ARE ALSO TIMES WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS AND THE RPMS RISE BUT THE CAR DOES NOTHING AT ALL. I WILL PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN DRIVE MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE CAR STILL WONT MOVE. I HAVE HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION IN ORDER TO GET THE TRANSMISSION TO WORK PROPERLY. WHEN I BROUGHT THESE COMPLAINTS TO HYUNDAI THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARE AND TOLD ME THEY HAD JUST ISSUED A RECALL. SO I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO HAVE IT FIX. I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE WHAT I PAID FOR. WELL, I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR BECAUSE THE RECALL DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. WE ARE ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS MORE FREQUENTLY. SOME TECHNICIANS AND HYUNDAI MOTORS USA TELL ME THAT I DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AND SAY THAT I SHOULDNT EXPECT THE CAR TO ACCELERATE WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS. LET ME REPEAT, I SHOULDNT EXPECT THE CAR TO ACCELERATE WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS! THEY ALSO SENT ME A YOUTUBE VIDEO TO TEACH ME HOW TO DRIVE A DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION WHICH I FOUND INSULTING. I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A CAR! OTHER TECHNICIANS FROM ARAPAHOE HYUNDAI ADMIT THAT THERE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND THEY WOULD NEVER PUT THEIR FAMILY IN ONE. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS CAR AND TAKE IT OFF THE ROAD.
