TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING AFTER DUSK, THERE WAS REDUCED VISIBILITY FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLAMP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO DARK SPOTS ON THE HEADLAMP. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITH THE REFRACTIVE LENS IN THE HEADLAMP ALONG WITH THE PLACEMENT OF THE HEADLAMP. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE HEADLAMP WAS PLACED IMPROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP WAS A REPLACEMENT AFTER A CRASH INVOLVING A DEER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.* CONSUMER STATED DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED.*JB
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE PROBLEM BEGAN ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION ONLINE IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE ACTUATOR IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE DOOR IS SHUT AND THERE IS NOT WAY TO OPEN IT WITHOUT UNHINGING THE DOOR AND GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT AND NOT FROM A RESULT OF WEAR AND TEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCKS FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY FROM OUTSIDE OR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
DOUBLE-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION HESITATION WHEN THINKING ABOUT STARTING OUT OR SHIFTING OF 1.5 TO 2 SECONDS. THIS ALLOWS AN ONCOMING VEHICLE TO BE 2.5 CAR LENGTHS CLOSER AND WHEN YOU ARE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AGAINST ON-COMING TRAFFIC THIS IS LIFE THREATENING. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN MOVING STRAIGHT. THE HYUNDAI DEALER TOLD US TO KEEP THE DRIVE MODE IN SPORT - IT HAPPENED ONCE IN THAT NOT NEARLY AS SEVERE. HOWEVER IN SPORT WE GET FAR LESS MILES PER GALLON (5 MILES ON AVERAGE) AND THE FUEL ECONOMY WAS WHY WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WE ALSO CONTACTED CORPORATE AND THEY INFORMED US THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE TRANSMISSION SAID, 'IT WORKS AS DESIGNED.' THAT MEANS IT WAS DESIGNED TO PUT PEOPLES' LIVES IN DANGER.
THIS SUV STUTTERS AND HESITATES ON ACCELERATION. AT A STOP ENTERING TRAFFIC LANES VERY UNSAFE WHILE IDLING WILL STUMBLE AND SHAKE. RPMS WILL RAMP UP WITH NO TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT. THIS IS OUR 3RD TRANSMISSION I DON'T THINK HYUNDAI HAS A FIX FOR THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. CAR WAS $35000 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WARRANTY EXPIRES? UNSAFE. UNACCEPTABLE MULTIPLE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MODEL AND ITS TRANSMISSION ONLINE HYUNDAI OFFERS NO LONG TERM SOLUTION
AFTER STOPPING, WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD IT HESITATES SEVERELY FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE ENGINE RPMS PICK UP BUT NO FORWARD MOVEMENT. IN FACT, IF YOU ARE ON A SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE, THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO DRIFT BACK.THIS OCCURS IN REGULAR DRIVING MODE - NOT ECO OR SPORT. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND IS TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE LAST TIME WAS ABOUT 3:30 PM ON 05/13/2018 IN THE 1.5 TO 2 SECOND DELAY THAT VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE MOVED 55 TO 73 FEET! AND I AM SURE THAT IS WHAT ANY VEHICLE BEHIND THE TUSCON WOULD EXPECT AS WELL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND OTHER VEHICLES ARE BEHIND YOU. I SPENT 15 YEARS IN FIRE & RESCUE AND HAVE SEEN A NUMBER OF REAR-END ACCIDENTS. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN WITH A 55 TO 73 FEET DELAY ZONE.
MY CAR HAS DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING (7X), INABILITY TO REVERSE (2X), AND A TRANSMISSION ERROR THAT LIMITS MY SPEED (2X). TROUBLE ACCELERATING IS PRESENT IN ALL CASES. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN OCTOBER 2015, AND A RECALL ON THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT) WAS DONE IN FEBRUARY 2016. THE RECALL WAS TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM OF THE CAR'S INABILITY TO ACCELERATE AFTER REPEATEDLY PRESSING AND RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR. THE PROBLEMS STARTED IN MAY 2016 AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. I TOOK MY CAR TO HYUNDAI AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A NORMAL OPERATION OF DCT. IN DECEMBER 2016, THE SECOND PART OF THE DCT SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS DONE. ONCE THE WARMER WEATHER CAME, MY CAR HAD THE SAME ISSUES IN APRIL 2017, JUNE 2017 (TAKEN TO DEALER, UPDATE), SEPTEMBER 2017, THREE TIMES IN OCTOBER 2017 (TAKEN TO DEALER, NORMAL), AND TWICE IN MAY 2018. ALL OCCURRENCES WERE IN WARM WEATHER (77 DEGREES TO 82 DEGREES) AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING OUTSIDE ALL DAY. PRIOR TO OCTOBER, ALL INCIDENCES WERE TROUBLE ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, ONE INCIDENT IN OCTOBER IS ALSO WHEN MY CAR WOULDN'T REVERSE, AND THE OTHER HAD A TRANSMISSION ERROR THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME PAST 51MPH. FOR THE SECOND OCCURRENCE IN MAY, THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR ABOUT TWO MILES, STOPPED AT A STORE PARKING LOT WITH THE AC RUNNING FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, THEN HAD DIFFICULTY ACCELERATING, THE TRANSMISSION ERROR APPEARED AGAIN AT 32MPH LIMITING MY SPEED, AND I COULD NOT REVERSE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND DROVE THE CAR TO THEM. THE MECHANIC BELIEVED MY ISSUE AND DID NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT. MY CAR HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES, AND I WAS JUST TOLD THAT MY CAR IS ACTING NORMALLY. THEY ARE READY TO RELEASE THE CAR TO ME; HOWEVER, I HAVE STRESSED THE SAFETY ISSUE AND REFUSE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK. THIS CAR IS NOT RELIABLE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURY OR DEATH. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI CORPORATE.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY 2016 HYUNDAI, TUCSON, FOR OVER 5 HOURS ON HIGHWAY. AFTER TAKING A BREAK, AND RETURNING BACK TO HIGHWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN ACCELERATING FROM MY 60MPH SPEED TO OVER 80MPH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL AND TAPPED BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE, AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AFTER SUCCESSFULLY PULLING CAR OFF HIGHWAY, I APPLIED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP CAR. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM, AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE CAR IS ROUTINELY IN FOR SERVICE.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR HESITATES AND DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD. I THEN TRY IT AGAIN AND THE CAR MOVES AS EXPECTED. AT THIS POINT, MY WIFE AND I VERY FRIGHTENED THAT WE CAN NOT PREDICT THE ACTIONS OF THE CAR WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE INJURY/DEATH. IT APPEARS A LOT OF OTHER HYUNDAI TUSCON OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE.
HYUNDAI TUCSON ENGINE THE VEHICLE IS BURNING EXCESS AMOUNTS OF OIL. THE RATE OF ENGINE OIL LOSS IS OVER ONE QUART PER 500 MILES. MY MECHANIC TELLS ME HIS EVALUATION IS THE VEHICLE'S TURBO UNIT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO RUN VERY HOT, AND THE INTERNAL SEALS ARE BREAKING DOWN, CAUSING OIL TO MIX WITH THE FUEL. THE SOLUTION IS AN ENGINE REBUILD, WHICH WILL COST OVER $3,000. SUCH A REBUILD WILL RESULT IN THE SAME ISSUE ARISING AGAIN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS IN USE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, AS I HAVE CORRESPONDED WITH THEM ABOUT IT. THE ISSUE IS GENERIC TO ALL HYUNDAI TUCSONS WITH 1.6 LITRE TURBOCHARGED ENGINE. MY MECHANIC HAS RESEARCHED THE ISSUE, AND SAYS IT OCCURS IN ALL HYUNDAI TUCSON VEHICLES WITH THIS ENGINE CONFIGURATION. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO BUILD QUALITY, TRANSMISSION, AND OTHER COMPONENTS, BUT THIS ISSUE OF THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE DESIGN IS OBVIOUSLY THE MOST IMPORTANT. THE DEALER THAT SOLD ME THIS VEHICLE KNEW OF THIS CONDITION AND DID NOT DISCLOSE IT AT THE TIME OF SALE, AND REPRESENTED THAT THE ENGINE WAS IN SOUND WORKING ORDER. *DT*JB
DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WITH SPEEDS FROM STOP (0MPH) TO 15MPH AND STOPPING AGAIN (WHICH I HAVE TO GO THROUGH EVERY DAY TO AND FROM WORK M-F), THE SUV HESITATES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE-SOMETIMES VIBRATING LIKE DRIVING ON BUMPY DIRT ROAD BEFORE IT FINALLY JERKS WHEN THE GEAR CATCHES. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO EXCEPT RESET THE COMPUTER-WHICH THEY DID BUT SUV STILL PRESENTING WITH SAME PROBLEM AND SEEMS TO BE WORSENING.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN. IT WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVER DOOR IS NOW STARTING TO STICK.
DUE TO THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION, MY VEHICLE SHAKES AND STALLS WHEN TRYING TO PUSH ON THE GAS AND ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND I'M STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR WHILE MY WHOLE VEHICLE SHAKES AND MAYBE GOES FORWARD ABOUT TWO FEET OVER 20 SECONDS BEFORE IT WILL ACTUALLY START MOVING LIKE IT SHOULD, OFTEN TIMES LEAVING ME IN AN UNSAFE POSITION IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND GAGING WHEN I CAN SAFELY PROCEED THROUGH ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED JERKING AND VIBRATION. THE FAILURE MAINLY OCCURRED FROM A STANDING START. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (KING HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 1399 S FEDERAL HWY, DEERFIELD BEACH, FL 33441) WHO PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
VARIOUS ISSUES HAVE COME UP WITH MY TUCSON RELATED TO MISC ITEMS WHICH WERE REPAIRED. I ALSO NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH ACCELERATION FROM STOP. THE CAR WOULD HESITATE WHEN YOU STARTED TO PROCEED FROM A STOP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENGINE NEEDS TIME TO GET BROKE IN SO AFTER IT WILL FIX ITSELF. EACH TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, THEY STATED THEY HAD CHECKED EVERYTHING OUT AND PERFORMED SERVICE AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT ANY RECALLS OR DEFECTS IN MANUFACTURING. RECENTLY, THE PROBLEM BECAME DANGEROUS. THE CAR WOULD HESITATE AT STOP LIGHTS AND ALMOST CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS. ON ONE OCCASION, IT WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO AFTER PRESSING THE GAS AND THEN IT SURGED FORWARD ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME ALSO. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, A REP FROM THE SERVICE DEPT.DROVE THE CAR AND STATED, 'YOU COULD DRIVE CROSS COUNTRY, AND THERE IS NO PROBLEM'. WITHIN DAYS OF THIS INCIDENT, ANOTHER WAS NARROWLY AVOIDED AND I HAD ENOUGH. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT A STOPLIGHT AND THEN AT THE NEXT IT HESITATED AND THEN SURGED FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DEMANDED THEY FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT! THE DEALERSHIP TOOK MY TUCSON TO INSPECT. AFTER A DAY, THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME I NEEDED AN ENTIRE NEW TRANSMISSION. THAT THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WAS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY AND REQUIRED A FULL REPLACEMENT, THEY ALSO SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH DRIVE SHAFT WHICH THEY ALSO WOULD NEED TO FIX AND FINALLY ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE A/C WHICH WOULD REQUIRE FULL REPLACEMENT AS WELL. AFTER TWO YEARS AND A FULL WARRANTY, THE DEALERSHIP "CHECKING EVERYTHING" DURING EACH SERVICE AND NOW ONLY AFTER MY DEMAND, AND MY PLEADING DO THEY FIND PROBLEMS'AND ALL MAJOR PROBLEMS. I GOT MY CAR BACK, BUT NOW THE HEATING AND A/C IS NOT OPERATING RIGHT.
THE CAR DOESN'T RELIABLE ACCELERATE AFTER PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE. INTERMITTENTLY IT TAKES UP TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE FROM A STOP. TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO BUSY TRAFFIC HAS CAUSE NEAR ACCIDENTS ON MANY OCCASIONS. YOU MAY PUSH THE PEDDLE DOWN AND IT SIT THERE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SHOOT FORWARD. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALER OVER 6-7 TIMES AND THEY STATE "THEY ALL DO THAT". IT HAS BEEN THAT WAS SINCE WE BOUGHT IT IN 2016 AND HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH A LAWYER SINCE BUT HAVE STOPPED DUE TO FEES.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY (EXAMPLE: I COME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT) THEN TRY TO MOVE AGAIN, THE CAR WON'T MOVE AND THERE IS A LULL WHEN I GIVE IT GAS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE "REVS" BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AFTER COMING TO A STOP. I HAVE HAD A FEW INSTANCES WHERE I BECOME STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR A MINUTE.
SUNROOF SHATTERED AND GLASS FELL INTO THE CAR ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY AND TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WEATHER WAS 70 DEGREES F AND SUNNY AND THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON FEBRUARY 15, 2018. WE WERE NOT NEAR AN OVERPASS AND THERE WERE NO LARGE TRUCKS AROUND US AT THE TIME.
2016 TUCSON LIMITED WITH 1.6 TURBO ENGINE. I HAVE HAD RECENT PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR BOGS DOWN OR SEEM TO CUT OF WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR VERY LOW SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN I AM TRYING TO MERGE IN TRAFFIC FROM AN OFF RAMP, PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND TRYING TO GET IN ANOTHER LANE IN TRAFFIC FROM A STOP. AS SOON AS I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WOULD STOP AS IF THE ENGINE HA CUT OFF. I HAVE TO TRY TO MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT TO1ST GEAR OR SWITCH TO A SPORT MODE FOR THE CAR TO RESPOND. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC TRYING TO MERGE FROM AN OFF RAMP OR CHANGE LANES OR EVEN LEAVING PARKING LOTS TO MERGE ON HIGHWAY. THIS HAS OCCURRED QUITE FREQUENTLY AND I HAVE SOME VERY NARROW MISHAPS WITH CARS SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID RUNNING IN TO ME. I AM A VERY EXPERIENCED DRIVER WHO HAS DRIVING PROFESSIONALLY FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS INCLUDING TRACTOR TRAILERS WITH MANY SAFETY AWARDS. IT IS ONLY BECAUSE OF MY EXPERIENCE THAT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAS BEEN AVOIDED SO FAR. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS OR SERVICE NOTICES AND HAVE HAD NO RECOURSE THIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE OVER THE NEARLY TWO YEARS I HAVE THE CAR. I AM AFRAID TO LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR THAT SHE MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS OR WORSE ACCIDENT. THE DEALER HAS ONLY TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IN ECO MODE ANY MORE, I HAVE DONE EVERY THING THEY ASK INCLUDING USING PREMIUM GAS, MORE SERVICE DRIVING IN DIFFERENT MODES. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF VEHICLES, CARS AND TRUCKS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH A NEW VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE TECH HAS NO IDEA WHAT TO DO.
WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE CAR HESITATES AND OFTEN WILL SHUDDER. THE COMPANY HAS ADMITTED IT IS A FLAW DUE TO DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE SINCE STOP USING THIS TRANSMISSION. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF STREET , OR HIGHWAY.
DRIVER PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.
THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILS TO POWER THE CAR SOMETIMES. WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE WILL REV UP BUT THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THE WORK THEY PERFORMED DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR THE DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. HYUNDAI CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE TO MAKE HYUNDAI REALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.

I APPLY PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL, MY SUV SLOWLY MOVES INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE RPM'S REV, BUT THE VEHICLE BARELY MOVES. I HAVE CARS COMING DOWN A HILL TOWARDS ME THE CAR BEHIND ME HAS SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. MORE PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE GAS, EVENTUALLY I HAVE POWER. SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN IT TURNS GREEN, AGAIN PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE GAS AND THE CAR REVS AND SUV EDGES FORWARD. I FEEL LIKE L HAVE NO POWER THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SUV STARTS TO MOVE. I AM GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND IT WILL BE AT THE HANDS OF HYUNDAI. I HAVE EXPLAINED MY CONCERN TO HYUNDAI AND WAS TOLD THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS, BUT BRING IT IN FOR AN APPOINTMENT. I SCHEDULED AN OIL CHANGE WHILE THEIR I ASKED THEM TO PLEASE CHECK MY CONCERNS AND I EXPLAINED AGAIN. WENT BACK A FEW HOURS LATER & THEY FOUND NOTHING, NO CODES CAME UP TO EXPLAIN ANY ISSUES, I COULD LEAVE IT FOR THREE DAYS AT A FUTURE DATE SO THEY COULD SPEND AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME WITH IT. THEY NEVER ENDED UP HAVING A RENTAL TO TAKE IT AS OF YET. 2016 TUCSON OWNERS EXPERIENDED THE SAME ISSUES. HYUNDAIS 2ND YEAR WITH THE SAME ISSUES, 2016'S TACKLED WITH NO SUCCESS. THE DEALERS INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES, BUT DID NOT SPECIFICALLY DIAGNOSE THE PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.

I WAS AN OWNER OF A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON WITH TURBO. UNTIL JANUARY 23, 2018. I OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR AND ALTHOUGH THIS WAS A GREAT VEHICLE WE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE A WEEK AFTER OUR PURCHASE DATE.WE HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT WRIGHT WAY HYUNDAI IN STAUNTON, VA NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE SAME ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ALLOW THE MOTOR TO SEND THE RPMS TO EXCEED A HIGH LEVEL BEFORE ENGAGING. SO BAD AT TIME THAT IT WOULD PULL YOU TO ONE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR THE OTHER, ALSO FROM A STOP IT WOULD REV UP SO BAD THAT IT WOULD TAKE OFF SPINNING. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI OVER THIS MATTER INCLUDING OTHER DEALERSHIPS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD EVERYTHING FROM 'THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED' TO 'YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE IT'. SOMETIME IF YOU ARE TURNING AND PRESS THE GAS IT WILL EITHER NOT MOVE QUICKLY ENOUGH OR SUDDENLY BOOST FORWARD. DEALER HAS RESET BOOST SENSOR, REPLACED BOOST SENSOR, AND REPLACED TERMINAL BOOST SENSOR PLUGS INTO. I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND AM NOW WONDERING HOW I WILL CONTINUE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT COULD KILL ME. VERY UPSETTING. ALSO, IT IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AFTER FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE AIR BAG WAS FOR A 2015 HYUNDAI AND WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED DUE TO NOT BEING ORIGINAL PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000.
WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR STATIONARY, THE CAR HESITATES, ALMOST SEEMS TO CHOKE, AND THEN LURCHES FORWARD WITH A BURST WHEN TRYING TO ENTER INTO TRAFFIC. HOWEVER, ANY EARLY INDICATION OF IMPROVEMENT HAS NOW BEEN LOST. IT IS DEEPLY CONCERNING THAT THE CAR MAY CHOOSE TO GO OR NOT WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENS EXTREMELY OFTEN - ALMOST DAILY. WHILE I SELECTED A DATE OF OCCURRENCE BELOW, IT WAS ONLY TO SATISFY THE FORM'S REQUIREMENTS.

IN THE CITY, MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE AT STOP LIGHT, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM STOP. RPMS WOULD REV AND REV, BUT NO MOVEMENT UNTIL AFTER MULTIPLE TRIES. WAS TOLD WHEN PURCHASED THAT THIS VEHICLE YEAR HAD RECALL THAT WAS FIXED, BUT WHEN WE PUT VIN INTO NHTSA SITE, TOLD IT'S NOT AFFECTED BY RECALL. IT'S POSSIBLE EITHER THE CONTAINMENT OF THE RECALL NET WAS NOT WIDE ENOUGH, OR THE CORRECTIVE ACTION IS NOT YET ADEQUATE. EITHER WAY, MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS AT STAKE. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRUST A NEW CAR TO GO WHEN I PROMPT IT TO. TRANSMISSION IS VERY TOUCHY IN THIS ECO MODEL. I HOPE TO SEE ROBUST CORRECTIVE ACTION BY HYUNDAI, OR A DIFFERENT,SAFER AND MORE RELIABLE POWER TRAIN UTILIZED. THIS TYPE OF ISSUE COULD CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I HOPE THAT MORE OF THESE CARS ARE NOT EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE.
PROBLEMS WITH THE DCT TRANSMISSION. VIBRATION AND CHOPPY SHIFTING FROM A STOP OR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM SLOW SPEED. AT TIMES THE TUCSON WILL ALSO SURGE SUDDENLY ,FOR A SECOND OR TWO, WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, - AT A STOP SIGN, RED LIGHT OR PULLING INTO A PARKING SLOT. COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING LEFT OR WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE IS IN FRONT OF ME. TAKEN IN FOR SERVICING SEVERAL TIMES. TOLD BY AUTO DEALER AND HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE, THAT THIS IS JUST HOW THE DCT WORKS. NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. NO RE-CALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS THAT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. DCT TRANSMISSION SYSTEM CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BUCK, HESITATE AND SHAKE WHEN VEHICLE PROCEEDS FROM A STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN.
THIS VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHEN EITHER STARTING OR SPEEDING UP. ASIDE FROM THE DCT LAG ISSUE, IT MAY REV UP TO 4500 W/O MOVING FROM A STOPPED POSITION WITH LIGHT ACCL PRESSURE. IT DOESN'T LIKE TO START MOVING BELOW ~40F AND ACTS JERKILY. THE 1.5-2 SEC LAG MAY, OR MAY NOT, HAPPEN EVEN AFTER THE 2 ECM FIXES. IT IS UNSAFE TO EXPECT IT TO BEHAVE WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AS A RESULT - YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL MOVE OR HOW FAST, OR WHEN. TO QUOTE RALPH NADER, UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED. IT HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY, THOUGH NOT PREDICTABLY, SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT.
I HAD TAKEN MY TUSCON IN 3 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR ALL THE SAME ISSUES EVERY TIME (1) DELAYED ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP WHILE CROSSING ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH MY 2 YR OLD SON IN THE CAR (2) NOT ACCELERATING AT ALL FROM A COMPLETE STOP BUT THE RPM'S REVVING HIGH BEFORE FINALLY JERKING INTO GEAR AND TAKING OFF AND (3) JERKING WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC AND I PRESS THE GAS. ALL 3 TIMES, THE "REPAIR" WAS EXPLAINED TO ME AS A "COMPUTER UPDATE". THE CAR WOULD DRIVE FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN THE ISSUES WOULD RESUME. THE SERVICE DEPT TOLD ME THIS IS HOW THE DCT WORKS. THEN I SAW THAT THERE WAS FINALLY A RECALL BEING ISSUED AND I THOUGHT "OH YAY! THEY FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS SO I CAN TAKE IT IN THIS ONE LAST TIME AND I'LL BE GOOD TO GO!" AFTER ONLY ONE DAY WE WERE BACK TO THE SAME ISSUES. THE SERVICE DEPT ONCE AGAIN SAID THAT "UNFORTUNATELY, COMPUTER UPDATES WILL BE A NORMAL THING FOR THIS DCT SYSTEM" ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?! THIS IS NOT NORMAL! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT EVERY TIME MY CAR STARTS STALLING WHILE I AM CROSSING ONCOMING TRAFFIC, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD CAUSE MY SON, MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE SERIOUS INJURY, IF NOT DEATH, THAT I NEED TO BRING IT IN FOR A "COMPUTER UPDATE"?? THEY ALSO SUGGESTED THAT I TRY DRIVING IT IN SPORT MODE ALL THE TIME OR USING THE MANUAL SHIFTER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP WITH THE HESITATION AND/OR STALLING AND JERKING. IF I WANTED TO SHIFT, I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT A MANUAL. WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, I WANT TO GO. I DON'T WANT TO WORRY THAT THIS MIGHT THE TIME THAT THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T QUITE ENGAGE IN TIME WHILE I'M CROSSING TRAFFIC AND SOMETHING SERIOUS/FATAL HAPPENS. I AM EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH THIS CAR, I AM EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEIR PASSIVE ATTITUDE TOWARDS THIS ONGOING ISSUE BUT MOST OF ALL, I FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE TAKING THAT SERIOUSLY.
TRANSMISSION COMPUTER RESET RECALL - PURCHASED THE CAR IN JUNE 13, 2016. DROVE IT TO L.A. A FEW WEEKS AND NOTICED ACCELRATION WOULD BECOME HESITANT IN TRAFFIC AFTER 15-20 MINS IN SLOWER TRAFFIC. PROBLEM WAS VERY PRONOUNCED IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OF 15-20 TRAVEL TIMES. SO, TRIED TO GIVE ENOUGH SPACE IN BETWEEN ME AND CAR AHEAD SO THAT I WOULDN'T RIDE BRAKE OR INCH FORWARD. AT SCHEDULED SERVICES INFORMED SERVICE TECH ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE A LOOK. THERE WAS A RECALL CAMPAIGN THAT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE AND COMPUTER RESET TO HANDLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.IN MARCH/APRIL 2017. STILL NOTICED THE HESITATION PROBLEM AND NOTED THIS TO TECH AT SERVICE APPOINTMENTS. OCT 8, 3 SISTERS AND NIECE WENT TO APPLE HILL AND AFTER 35 MINS GOING UPHILL ON STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON WINDY ROAD, TRANSMISSION OVER HEATED AND COMPUTER DASHBOARD ALERTED ME TO PULL OVER SAFELY . I PULLED CAR OVER TO ABLE APPLE ACRES FARM AND WE LET TRANSMISSION COOL FOR ABOUT 45 MINS. WHEN WE GOT OUT THE CAR IT SMELLED HORRIBLE LIKE BURNT CLUTCH SMELL. WE GOT BACK IN STARTED IT UP AND WAS GOING TO GO UP THE HILL A MILE. IMMEDIATELY BURNT CLUTCH SMELL WAS EVIDENT AFTER 3-4 MINUTES AND CAR WAS HESITANT AND LURCHING FORWARD WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THAT WHEN WE ALL NOTICED THE SHUDDERING FEELING WHEN I WOULD LET OF THE BRAKE TO GIVE IT GAS AS THE CAR WOULD ROLL BACK SLIGHTLY BEFORE THE GEAR ENGAGED. LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL OUT LIKE IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAR. VERY JERKY. SO, I MADE A TURN TO GO BACK DOWN THE HILL AND THE BRAKES WERE 2-4 SECONDS DELAYED. I FELT LIKE I WAS SLAMMING ON THEM. WE HEADED HOME AND THE FOLSOM OUTLETS TO LET THE TRANSMISSION COOL OF FOR A FEW HOURS. MADE SURE TO TURN OFF TRACTION AND ECO HOPING THAT WOULD HELP. TRAFFIC WAS BETTER AS IT APPEARS TRANSMISSION DOES LIKE STOP/GO SITUATIONS ON INCLINES OR LEVEL SURFACES.
WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO TURN LEFT, I PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE (CAR WAS IN SPORT MODE) INTO THE LEFT TURN TO MOVE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION ON A GREEN LIGHT BEFORE ON-COMING TRAFFIC APPROACHED. I REQUESTED SIGNIFICANT ACCELERATOR PEDAL APPLICATION TO PROCEED THROUGH THE TURN, LIKELY 3/4 THROTTLE WHEN SUDDENLY THE 7SPD DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. LUCKILY I WAS THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND TURN AND NO LONGER IN DANGER WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE ENGINE WAS HOVERING RIGHT AROUND 6700RPM AND APPEARED TO BE HITTING A SOFT LIMITER AND ULTIMATELY REFUSED TO SHIFT. I LEFT OFF THE GAS COMPLETELY AND PROCEEDED TO RE-APPLY THE THROTTLE WHEN FINALLY THE ENGINE REVS CAME BACK DOWN AND RE-ENGAGE THE NEXT GEAR RATHER ABRUPTLY. AFTER THE INCIDENT THE CAR APPEARED TO RUN AND SHIFT NORMALLY WITHOUT ISSUE. THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ON-GOING ISSUE WITH INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT WITH THE TUCSON. I'VE VISITED THE DEALER DOCUMENTING PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH A LACK OF ACCELERATION AND SHIFTING, BUT HYUNDAI DOES NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX. THE CAR HAS ALL CURRENT RECALLS AND TSBS PERFORMED RELATING TO THE PROGRAMMING OF THE TRANSMISSION.
"TAKATA RECALL": FRONT LIGHT SIGNATURES FOR THE "LEFT-SIDE" SWICH ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. WHEN THE INITIAL CAR TURNS ON, THE DASHBOARD ON OCCASIONS, GOES BLACK! THE CAR WHEN GOES ON TO HIGHWAYS, THE ENGINE (RPM) GOES UP TO 7000 RPM FOR THE FIRST AND SECOND GEAR! THS WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURN ON. LASTLY, THE TRUNK AUTOMATICALLY STARTED OPENING EVEN WHEN THE KEYS ARE AWAY OR IN MY JACKET OR POCKET ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNED OFF THE CAR.
2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IS STILL DANGEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE AFTER I HAD THE RECALL DONE RELATED TO THIS ISSUE LAST YEAR. BELOW 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS, JERKS AND HESITATES. THERE IS ALSO A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AT LOWER SPEEDS. RECENTLY THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP IN TRAFFIC FOR 5 SECONDS WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS ISSUE AND THAT IT'S TYPICAL FOR A DCT. I HAVE DRIVEN OTHER VEHICLES WITH DCTS AND THEY DID NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES.
ON MY BACK FROM DROPPING KIDS AT SCHOOL, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY AS NORMAL WHILE STATIONARY THE ENGINE SEEMS TO HAVE LOST POWER AND I QUICKLY REMOVE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND APPLY THE PRESSURE AGAIN THE CAR THEN PICKED UP AGAIN, LUCKILY THE ONCOMING SLOWED DOWN, IT COULD BE WORSE AS I STOOD A RISK OF BEEN T-BONED, THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED ON THE 19 OF SEPTEMBER 2017. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE TODAY ON THE 28 OF SEP 2017 ON MY WAY TO AT THE JUNCTION TO JOIN THE MAIN ROAD WHILE STATIONARY, IT LOST POWER, AGAIN I COULD HAVE BEEN T-BONE, SECOND INCIDENT ON MY WAY FROM WORK. I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY WHEN STATIONARY.
