I HAVE A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON AND EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS OF SLOW START AFTER A ROLLING KIND OF STOP/GO SITUATION.IT GOT REALLY BAD AND STARTED SCREECHING WHEN IN A STOP/GO SITUATION OR FROM A STOP. MULTIPLE VISITS TO DEALERSHIPS AND ALL THEY CAN SAY THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND THERE IS NO FIX. SIMPLE RESEARCH AND I FOUND MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. IN FACT HYUNDAI ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE AND RELEASED A SOFTWARE PATCH BUT HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUES. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR AS IT DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD WHILE PRESSING ON GAS.
THE BEST CAR I EVER OWNED WAS A 2001 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. ACCORDINGLY, WHEN I WAS SHOPPING FOR A NEW CAR IN MAY 2016, I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING BACK TO HYUNDAI AND PURCHASED MY 2016 TUCSON. ONLY SYNTHETIC OIL HAS BEEN USED SINCE PURCHASE AND ALL SERVICE BELOW, EXCEPT THE 06/14/17 OIL & FILTER CHANGE, HAS BEEN DONE AT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT., 70+ MILES AWAY: 10/03/16 - THE DCT UPDATE/INSTALL/FIX WAS 1ST COMPLETED. THE ABOVE UPDATE WAS COMPLETED AS PART OF A REGULAR SERVICE BEFORE I BEGAN TO NOTICE ANY PROBLEMS. 02/20/17 - I'M NOT SURE WHEN I FIRST DETECTED A HESITATION OR LACK OF POWER ON ACCELERATION, BUT IT MUST HAVE BEEN BEFORE THIS SERVICE DATE, AS THE DOCUMENTATION NOTES THE DCT UPDATE BEING COMPLETED A 2ND TIME. ALTHOUGH SPORADIC, EACH TIME THE HESITATION OCCURS IT CAN BE DANGEROUS, SCARY AND VERY UNNERVING. EQUALLY UNPREDICTABLE AND UNNERVING IS THE RESULTING 'LURCH' FORWARD WHEN POWER RETURNS. 04/12/17 - MORE WORK FOR THE SAME HESITATION ISSUE 06/14/17 - REGULAR SERVICE (OIL & FILTER CHANGE) WAS PERFORMED AT A LOCAL SHOP. 09/14/17 ' RETURNING TO HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE LOOKED AT FOR A 4TH TIME. I TEND TO BE A CAUTIOUS DRIVER & GIVE MYSELF PLENTY OF ROOM (RURAL COMMUNITY) WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THIS DEFECT IN THE HYUNDAI TUCSON PRESENTS TWO POSSIBLE TRAGIC SCENARIOS. FIRST & MOST OBVIOUS IS BEING BROADSIDED WHEN PULLING OUT, SECOND IS BEING REAR-ENDED, WHEN THE PERSON BEHIND YOU IS EXPECTING FORWARD MOTION. VERY UNSAFE CAR!!
VEHICLE FAILS TO MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PUSHED, CAUSING SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS WHEN ENTERING TRAFFIC. TRANSMISSION AT LOW SPEED CAUSES THE WHOLE CAR TO SHAKE HORRIBLY.

WHILE STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK, I THEN PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE TUCSON WON'T MOVE AND THE ENGINE REVS HIGH WITHOUT FORWARD PROGRESS. THIS IS A SLAM-DUNK SAFETY ISSUE, AND I EXPECT A RECALL WILL BE THE RESULT. IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS PLUS MOVING THE CAR INTO PARK AND BACK TO DRIVE BEFORE IT MOVED. ( ABOUT 30 SECONDS) ONCE THE CAR MOVED , I COULD SMELL THE CLUTCHES BURNING.
THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND SHIFTS IN APPROPRIATELY. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WILL NOT, AND LEADS TO VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IN AN INTERSECTION. IT IS AS IF THE CAR EITHER JUMPS/SHUDDERS OR STALLS WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS. THEREFORE, ONCOMING TRAFFIC CAN HIT YOU. MOST OF THE ISSUES OCCUR WHEN BEGINNING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE LATER STARTED TO ACCELERATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JENKINS HYUNDAI OF OCALA (1602 SW COLLEGE RD, OCALA, FL 34471), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE CONTACT AND EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION ON MY 2016 TUCSON SPORT 1.6, SINCE NEARLY THE BEGINNING THERE HAS BEEN HESITATION ACCELERATING FROM STOP, SLIPPING CAUSES JOLT AFFECT WHEN THE CLUTCH DOES GRAB. VERY FREQUENT SLIPPING OF CLUTCH MOSTLY AT SLOW SPEEDS, CLUTCH SLIPPING ALSO CAUSES VIBRATION/JOLTING AT SLOW SPEEDS EVER SINCE THE LAST SW UPDATE. BECOMING SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. OCCURS EVEN IN REVERSE. WAS TOLD NO DEFECT HOWEVER THERE HAS BEEN THREE SOFTWARE UPDATES DONE BY DEALERSHIP ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE AS A SAFETY RECALL, 1ST TWO HELPED SOME BUT THE LAST ONE MADE PROBLEM WORSE THAN IT EVER HAS. WAS TOLD NO WAY TO REVERSE THE SW UPDATES. DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI UNABLE TO HELP RESOLVE ISSUE STATING THIS IS "NORMAL" CONDITION WHERE THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS BEING IGNORED.
THE CAR HAS HAD SEVERAL ISSUES SINCE I GOT IT BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT, HOWEVER THE BIGGEST ISSUES IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I CURRENTLY HAVE 35K MILES ON THE CAR AND THE ISSUES ARE COMING MORE FREQUENT. THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE HESITATE AND LURCH PROBLEM. YOU CAN BE ON AN INCLINE OR JUST TRYING TO GO ACROSS AN INTERSECTION WHEN IT HAPPENS. YOU PRESS THE GAS, THE CAR HESITATES AS THE GEARS CHANGE AND YOU SLOWLY ROLL OUT INTO THE STREET, THEN THE CAR LURCHES YOU FORWARD. I CAME WITHIN A FEW INCHES OF HITTING THE BUMBER OF ANOTHER CAR AFTER I WAS LURCHED FORWARD. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO REASON OR PATTERN BEHIND THIS. IT JUST HAPPENS RANDOMLY. THE WHOLE CAR SHAKES AS THIS HAPPENS, SO BAD THAT EVEN PASSENGERS CAN FEEL IT.
WE CURRENTLY LEASE THE 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON FUEL CELL. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THERE HAS BEEN A SUDDEN AND SPORADIC LOSS OF POWER DURING NORMAL DRIVING OPERATION. MOST RECENTLY, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON A CA FWY THE CAR LOST ABOUT 90% OF ITS POWER WITHOUT WARNING BRINGING MAX SPEED TO LESS THAN 15 MPH! OCCUPYING THE CAR POOL LANE AT THE TIME, WE HAD TO NAVIGATE 6 LANES OF SPEEDING TRAFFIC WITHIN MOMENTS IN ORDER TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE POSITION. ONCE SAFE WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE HYUNDAI SUPPORT LINE INCLUDED IN OUR LEASE WITH THIS "TEST" VEHICLE ONLY TO RECEIVE INCONSISTENT INFORMATION AND THE RUNAROUND. NOW, IT HAS BEEN OVER TWO WEEKS AND WE KNOW NOTHING MORE ABOUT WHAT CAUSED THIS SUDDEN AND ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER THAT COULD HAVE LET TO A VIOLENT ACCIDENT (IF NOT FOR OUR QUICK AND CONTROLLED RESPONSE). THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 24,000 MILES YET HYUNDAI AND THEIR ANAHEIM CA DEALER NOT ONLY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE BUT CANNOT GUARANTEE US THAT THE ISSUE WILL NOT REOCCUR WITHOUT WARNING IN THE FUTURE. MAKING THIS VEHICLE UNSAFE FOR OPERATION!
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the RPM increased; however, the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. There was an update performed on the transmission control module before; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V628000 (Power Train, Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.
DRIVER TRAVELING AT 30-40 MPH, STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE BROADSIDE. ON CITY STREET. FRONT END OF VEHICLE SMASHED. CAR DECLARED TOTALED. AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT ONLY 1-2 INCHES THEN DEFLATED. DRIVER STRUCK STEERING WHEEL AND SUFFERED FACIAL, AND BODY INJURIES INCLUDING CRACKED STERNUM. LEASER, AND INSURANCE COMPANIES NOT CONCERNED ABOUT AIR BAG. OFFERED ONLY MEDICAL ATTENTION. ATTORNEY NOT INTERESTED AS THIS BAG NOT ON RECALL LIST, YET. WARNING TO OTHERS OF POSSIBLE FAULTY AIR BAG.
ABOUT FOUR MONTHS AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE, IT BEGAN RATTLING WHEN WE WOULD SLOW DOWN TO PARK OR MAKE TURNS. THE BEST WAY I CAN EXPLAIN IS LIKE WHEN A MANUAL TRANSITION IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF BECAUSE ITS NOT GOING IN TO THE CORRECT GEAR. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US THAT BECAUSE OF THE DUAL TRANSMISSION, THIS WAS EXPECTED. THEY SAID THAT PUTTING IN ECO OR SPORT MODE THE ISSUE WOULD BE LESS NOTICEABLE. THEY EVEN SHOWED US A VIDEO ABOUT THE DUAL TRANSMISSION THINKING THAT THIS WOULD HELP FIX OUR CAR. WE HAVE RETURNED AT LEAST THREE MORE TIMES WE THE SAME CONCERN AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR SINCE THE COMPUTER DETERMINED NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE BIGGEST CONCERN I HAVE IS THAT THE RATTLING HAS BECOME WORSE AND MORE CONSISTENT AND THAT THE CAR MAY STOP ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN IM MAKING A TURN OR I CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION, WILL NOT ACCELERATE, PAUSES WHILE STOPPED, IN MOTION, IN TRAFFIC, ON STREET CITY AND HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO REPAIR OTHER THAN AN UPDATE. HYUNDAI REFUSES, YES REFUSES, TO FIX MY CAR AND PROVIDE A REPAIR ORDER. TRIED TAKING MY CAR IN FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME. THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A REPAIR ORDER BECAUSE THERE IS NO REPAIR FOR THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. SO WHEN I FILED WITH THE BBB AND WITH HYUNDAI, HYUNDAI REFUSED TO TAKE MY CAR BACK CLAIMING I DID NOT HAVE ANY REPAIR ORDERS. HYUNDAI LOCATIONS SUCH AS EDWARDS IN IOWA AND WOODHOUSE IN OMAHA HAVE NOT DOCUMENTED ALL OF MY CARS ISSUES NOR HAVE THEY ANY PROOF OF MY BEING THERE OTHER THAN TWO TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN NUMEROUS TIMES, WELL OVER 5 TIMES ANYWAY!! THE BBB REQUIRES DOCUMENTATION OF SERVICE, BUT I CAN'T GET AHOLD OF THE DOCUMENTATION BECAUSE HYUNDAI HAS NOT DONE THEIR JOB TO DOCUMENT MY CARS SERVICE. I'M GROWING EXTREMELY TIRED OF HYUNDAI AND WOULDN'T WISH THIS CAR ON ANYONE! I STILL CAN'T ACCELERATE, MY CAR BROKE DOWN THE OTHER DAY, AND NOTHING IS GETTING BETTER WITH BEING SERVICED. AFTER GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED. IT WILL STALL AND HAS ALMOST LED TO 2 REAR END ACCIDENT AND ONE SIDE IMPACT ACCIDENT AS A RESULT BECAUSE IT CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHEN TRYING TO ENTER TRAFFIC. AT TIMES THE ENTIRE CARE WILL SHAKE AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY OR WILL NOT ENGAGE AND RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN DRIVE AT ALL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OVER 4 TIMES AND FOR MORE THAN 30 DAYS WITHOUT RESOLUTION IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE AND LESS THAN 12,000 MILES BUT THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER HAVE NOT FIXED THE ISSUE AND SAY THEY CAN'T BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A KNOWN RECALL AND ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE AS I FOUND OUT AFTER SOME RESEARCH AND THE PROBLEM IS RANDOM AND UNPREDICTABLE. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON A CITY STREET AND HAVE BEEN STATIONARY FOR A MOMENT AND THEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO DRIVE FORWARD OR TURN, THE VEHICLE HAS NO POWER AND WILL NOT DRIVE FORWARD. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP AND NEVER TURNS OFF, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ENGAGE IN DRIVE. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE ISSUE OCCURRING AND CAN SHARE IF NEEDED. I HAVE SHARED THE SAME INFORMATION WITH THE DEALER, OWNER, AND MANUFACTURER WITHOUT RESOLUTION.
THIS CAR HAS HAD A PROBLEM ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN APRIL 2016. WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR FROM A STOPPED POSITION, THE ENGINE WILL REV BUT THE CAR WILL ONLY CREEP SLOWLY FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH. DESPITE PERFORMING THE RECALL AND RECALL UPDATES ON THE TRANSMISSION, THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.
HYUNDAI PURCHASED THIS CAR BACK DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. IT HAD ISSUES SHIFTING BETWEEN THE FIRST 3 GEARS AND STALLED IN BETWEEN EACH. IT HAD ISSUES FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN FEB OF 2016 BUT TOOK UNTIL JUNE OF 2017 BEFORE THE BUY-BACK TOOK PLACE.
HAVE 2016 WITH A TERRIBLE TRANSMISSION SHUTTER, IN SLOW TRAFFIC THE CAR JERKS AND HAS VERY LITTLE POWER, IF YOU ATTEMPT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC YOU TAKE YOUR LIFE IN YOUR HANDS AND THE CAR CAN STALL DURING THE TURN AND YOU ARE NOW STUCK IN ON COMING TRAFFIC. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
THIS IS MY 2ND HYUNDAI TUCSON 1.6L TURBO LIMITED W ULTIMATE PACKAGE. THE FIRST 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON LIMITED WAS REPURCHASED BY HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA WITH ONLY 9K MILES ON IT FOR THE SAME ISSUE EVERYONE ELSE IS EXPERIENCING. MY 2ND TUCSON HAS 32K MILES ON IT AND IT'S BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME REASON EVERYONE ELSE HAS MENTIONED. THE CAR HESITATES WHEN I PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR AS IF IT IS HAS GONE INTO NEUTRAL, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL LURCH FORWARD GIVING YOU WHIPLASH. I AM SO TIRED OF BEING 'STONEWALLED' BY HYUNDAI - LOOK AT ALL THESE COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND WHERE IS HYUNDAI? WHERE IS THEIR RESPONSE? I'M TIRED OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TELLING ME THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE MY CONCERN WHEN I SHOW THEM A VIDEO OF EXACTLY WHAT IT'S DOING. THIS REMINDS OF THE PINTO DISASTERS BACK IN THE 70'S. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE HYUNDAI ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY FOR A POORLY DESIGNED ENGINE TRANSMISSION COMBINATION. HOW MANY PEOPLE? I'M SO TIRED OF THIS THAT I WANT TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY - THIS IS NEGLIGENCE ON HYUNDAI'S PART, THEY ARE JUST WAITING TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE BEFORE THEY REACT. LOOK UP 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES - SO REMOVING 'ECO' MODE IN 2017, DIDN'T RESOLVE THE ISSUE. RELATED TO ORIGINAL RECALL CAMPAIGN - 16V628000. I HAD THE UPDATED TRANSMISSION CONTROL SOFTWARE/RECALL INSTALLED IN NOVEMBER OF 2016. THE UPDATE WORKED FOR A TIME, BUT PERFORMANCE HAS STEADILY DECLINED ONCE AGAIN (THIS SOFTWARE HAS BEEN EITHER UPDATED OR RESET BY HYUNDAI MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE PURCHASE). I HAVE BEEN STUCK AT INTERSECTIONS WITH NO ACCELERATION, THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN MERGING ONTO FREEWAYS IS LIMITED (ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONVINCE THE CAR TO SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR), AND SHIFTING OUT OF 1ST GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS/LOCAL TRAFFIC IS HIGHLY SPORADIC (SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE 'CLUTCH' IS HALF ENGAGED; OTHER TIMES IT WON'T SHIFT OUT OF FIRST, SO YOU ACCELERATE FASTER THAN YOU WANT AND AT MUCH HIGHER RPM THAN WOULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL DRIVING). HYUNDAI HAS JUST RESET THE SOFTWARE IN MY CAR SO THAT IT CAN 'LEARN' AGAIN, BUT THE UPDATE PROVIDED WITH THE RECALL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE SOMETHING TO BE DONE AS NEW CAR OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO UPDATE SOFTWARE MULTIPLE TIMES PER YEAR IN ORDER TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLE OPERATE SAFELY.

SHORT PASSENGER TRYING TO USE AN AUTO SEAT CUSHION FOUND THAT AIRBAG PROTECTION WAS DISENGAGED (OFF)--IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. WHEN CUSHION WAS REMOVED, AIRBAG PROTECTION WAS ENGAGED (ON). PASSENGER SEAT SHOULD BE UP-DOWN ADJUSTABLE FOR PERSONS OF DIFFERENT HEIGHTS. OR SENSORS IMPROVED.
WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY, IT SOMETIMES DOES NOT MOVE WHEN YOU GIVE PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN PRESSING HE GAS PEDAL, THE ENGINE WILL REV, THE RPMS WILL INCREASE, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE OR WILL SOMETIMES SPUTTER AND BARELY CRAWL. THIS SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STATIONARY POSITION.
OCCASIONALLY, ON A CITY STREET AT STOP SIGNAL OR STOP SIGN, VEHICLE FAILS TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AS GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. REVS TO HIGH RPM'S, AND AS TRANSMISSION CATCHES UP, THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD VIOLENTLY, NEARLY CAUSING REAR END COLLISION ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AFTER TWO SEPARATE RECALL/DCT PROGRAM UPDATES WITH HYUNDAI DEALER.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, WE STARTED EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. WHILE ACCELERATING, THE CAR SEEMS TO LOSE POWER AND STALLS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE POWER KICKS ON AND CAUSES THE CAR TO JOLT. THIS HAPPENS ERRATICALLY AND AT LEAST 2X PER MONTH. IT'S INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE I AM IN AN INTERSECTION. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HYUNDAI REGARDING THIS RECALL, BUT THE SERVICE DID NOT HELP MY VEHICLE AT ALL. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AGAIN, AND THE MAN STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT, BUT THE HYUNDAI CORPORATION IS STATING THAT THIS IS 'NORMAL' FOR DUAL TRANSMISSIONS.
WHEN LEAVING A STOP SIGN THE CAR WOULD NOT SPEED UP. HAD THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATED FROM A RECALL, BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS HAPPENING. WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.
2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON 1.6T WITH THE 7SPD DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION REFUSED TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL AFTER STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP. SITUATION: STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO TURN LEFT, PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE FROM THE STOP TO TURN LEFT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT ~5MPH AND HALF WAY THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN/INTERSECTION THE CAR REFUSED TO RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL INPUT FOR INCREASED SPEED. I TRIED DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL MORE, BUT NO RESPONSE. I COMPLETELY LET OFF THE PEDAL AND THEN RE-APPLIED AND THE CAR STARTED TO RESPOND WITH REGULAR POWER DELIVERY WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING A BIT. CARS APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION HAD TO WAIT FOR ME TO GET THROUGH, LUCKILY IT WASN'T EXTREMELY BUSY WITH FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. I FEEL THIS 'RANDOM' LACK OF RESPONSE TO THE GAS PEDAL POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE TUCSON HAS HAD THE LATEST T1B DCT UPDATE (16-01-057) APPLIED AT THE DEALER SINCE 3/11/17. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE CAR HAS GIVEN ME ISSUES ACCELERATING OR CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE. TRANSMISSION ALSO EXPERIENCES INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WHEN ASKING TO DOWNSHIFT UNDER 3/4-FULL THROTTLE CONDITIONS - IT OFTEN WILL HALF ENGAGE AND FEEL LIKE IT'S SLIPPING IN GEAR EVENTUALLY APPLYING THE RIGHT GET WITH NO SLIP. THIS CREATES QUESTIONABLE PASSING ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHAT THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO DO WHEN REQUESTING IT TO PERFORM MULTIPLE DOWNSHIFTS UNDER POWER.
I HAVE HAD MY HYUNDAI FOR ONE YEAR AND 2 MONTHS. ABOUT A FEW MONTHS IN I HAD PROBLEMS WITH AFTER STOPPING I TRIED TO HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD REV UP AND THEN NOT GO ANYWHERE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI 4 TIMES NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD RECALLS AND TRIED TO GET IT FIXED. AFTER THE 3RD TIME I BROUGHT IT IN IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. I RECENTLY WENT IN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY FIXED SOMETHING HOWEVER THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO BE MESSED UP AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WORSE. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT IS 75 MILES AND MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I HIT THE GAS AND IT WOULD NOT GO. ITS LIKE IT KEPT JUMPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. IT DID THIS FOR THE WHOLE 45 MINS IT TOOK ME TO GET TO WORK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. IT EVEN WENT AS LOW AS 50 MILES AN HR IN A 75. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS I TOOK SHOWING IT SLOWING DOWN AND THEN REVING UP AND NOT MOVING WHEN HITTING THE GAS. I WAS SO SCARED IT WOULD STALL OUT ALL TOGETHER ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND I WAS SCARED I WAS GOING TO HIT.
WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC SUCH AS A LEFT TURN OR ON THE FREEWAY AT RUSH HOUR, MY VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY CEASE TO ACCELERATE. YOU CAN AUDIBLY HEAR THE CLUTCHES GRINDING INSTEAD OF TICKING AS THEY USED TO AS WELL. THE DCT SEEMS TO PUT THE CAR IN A NEUTRAL STATE UPON STOP AND GO, AND, NOT MOVE. THIS INCLUDES WHEN I HAVE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR AS WELL AS I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION ON A LEFT HAND TURN AND NOT BEEN ABLE TO ACCELERATE FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS. HYUNDAI MOTOR CORP. OF AMERICA STATES THIS IS NORMAL FUNCTIONING FOR THE VEHICLE AND THAT PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO USE THE DCT. I AM SUPPOSED TO APPARENTLY GET OUT OF MY CAR ON THE FREEWAY AND ASK OTHER DRIVERS TO PLEASE HOLD OFF FROM SLAMMING INTO MY BACK END AS THE DCT TAKES 3-5 SECONDS EXTRA TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ACCELERATE IN STOP AND GO SITUATIONS. I HAVE HAD IT INTO HYUNDAI OF AVONDALE 1X, RODEO HYUNDAI OF SURPRISE 2X, AND, HYUNDAI OF PEORIA 1X FOR THESE ISSUES. I AM VERY AFRAID OF THIS CAR AND HYUNDAI NOW THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THE CAR FOR REPAIRS WILL NO LONGER HONOR THE WARRANTY WORK. THE SERVICE GM OF HYUNDAI PEORIA STATED WHILE ON SPEAKER WITH HYUNDAI AMUSA THAT THEY ARE IN FACT SEEING THIS ISSUE WEEKLY BUT, HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT AND THEY DON'T WANT TO BE INVOLVED WITH ANY POSSIBLE ARBITRATION AT THEIR DEALERSHIP! I ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AT A SECOND OPINION AWAY FROM HYUNDAI AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HYUNDAI OF AVONDALE TECH EXPERIENCED WHAT I SAID WAS WRONG WITH THIS DEATH TRAP VEHICLE AND IT SCARED HIM. THEY ACTUALLY APOLOGIZED FOR HAVING TO GIVE BACK MY CAR AND STOP AND PAYING FOR THE RENTAL. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE WELL AWARE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND HYUNDAI AMCUSA DOESN'T WANT TO OWN UP TO IT. WILL IT TAKE SOMEONE DYING LIKE MYSELF BEFORE THIS IS RESOLVED?

I HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THIS VEHICLE AND WISHED I HAD PURCHASED THE SE MODEL WITH THE 6 SPEED CONVENTIONAL TRANSMISSION AND NOT THE 7 SPEED DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. TIME WILL TELL IF THIS LAST REPAIR WILL SOLVE THE NUMEROUS DCT PROBLEMS.

RPMS JUST REV TO REDLINE BUT VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE UNTIL YOU LET OFF THE GAS AND LET IT IDLE BACK DOWN TO IDLE ENGINE SPEED. THEN YOU CAN TRY IT AGAIN AND IT DRIVES NORMAL. ONE TIME HAD TO SHUT ENTIRE VEHICLE OFF IN THE INTERSECTION AND RESTART IT TO GET IT TO MOVE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,822.
THERE ARE SEVERAL PROBLEMS. THE SCARIEST TIME WAS WHEN I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE AND CARS HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ME.. ADDITIONALLY IF YOU ARE IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC INCHING ALONG, IT HESITATES TO ACCELERATE AND WHEN IT FINALLY DOES, YOU'RE AFRAID YOU WILL HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. I HAVE FOUND WHEN INCHING ALONG 1-5 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THAT I MUST LEAVE 1-2 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF ME DUE TO THE LURCHING AND HESITATION. SUPPOSEDLY THE RECALL IN SEPTEMBER 2016 FIXED THIS ISSUE BUT IT DID NOT. WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY HEADQUARTERS, THEY TOLD ME THE CAR IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. SO THEY DESIGNED IT TO LURCH AND NOT ACCELERATE? DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF MY CONTACTS WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND CORPORATE, BUT NOT WITH ME TODAY.

I have had problems with two trailer hitch sending units causing brake lights to be constantly illuminated. Hyundai has issues a recall for my model year on this issue, but for some reason my VIN is not covered in the recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, a clicking noise was present coming from the steering column while turning the steering wheel in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who indicated the ticking noise was caused by loosened steering column bolts. The bolts were re-torqued and the failure was remedied. The contact indicated that approximately 40,000 miles later the ticking noise reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering column bolts had loosened again. The bolts were again re-torqued and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,037. The consumer stated the 2nd occurrence happened on 07/20/2022 at 55,053 miles.

THERE IS A SPUTTER, HESITATION THAT HAPPENS EACH TIME, SOMETIMES STRONGER THAN OTHERS. IF YOU WERE MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, THE SPUTTER IS ENOUGH TO PLACE YOU IN POTENTIAL DANGER. WE HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BASICALLY THAT THEY ARE SORRY THAT WE DON'T LIKE THE VEHICLE BUT THEY CAN'T SATISFY EVERYONE. I HAVE THOSE EMAILS TO FORWARD TO YOU WHEN NEEDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,700.
I HAVE A 2016 LIMITED EDITION TUCSON WITH 1.6 TURBO. THIS WAS NOT AN INITIAL ISSUE BUT AN ISSUE THAT BUILDS UP AND CONTINUES TO BECOME WORSE THE MORE MILES I PLACE ON THE CAR. THERE ARE HESITATIONS, STUTTERING AND FAILURE TO MOVE WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES. THIS CAUSES FEAR AND DOUBTS OF SAFETY. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE DRIVERS TEST MY VEHICLE AS WELL AND COME TO THE SAME STARTLING RESULT. THERE IS ALSO UNUSUAL VIBRATIONS WHEN SLOWING DOWN IN SPEED, ESPECIALLY WHEN PARKING. I TAKE MY CAR INTO FREQUENT AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE YET THEY CANNOT FIND A FIX TO THE ISSUE BUT RATHER EXCUSES. I NO LONGER ENJOY DRIVING MY CAR AND DO NOT TRUST THE LINE OF VEHICLES ANY LONGER.
WHEN I ACCELERATE THERE IS NO POWER FOR 1-2 SECONDS, AND THIS IS NOT THE SAME THING AS THE SLIGHT DELAY EXPERIENCED AS THE CAR CHANGES GEARS. IT IS A COMPLETE LACK OF POWER EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED. VERY ALARMING. THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS OF USE (1ST TIME IN JANUARY - LATER TIMES IN FEB. AND MARCH--WINTER IN THE MIDATLANTIC REGION). HAPPENS AT SLOWER SPEEDS (ACCELERATING AT 25-30MPH TO CROSS LANES OF CITY TRAFFIC), AND IT HAPPENS AT HIGHER SPEEDS (ACCELERATING AT 50-65MPH TO MERGE INTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC OR OVERTAKE A SLOWER CAR IN SAME LANE ON INTERSTATE). BECAUSE I DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR VERY OFTEN, AND MOST OF MY TRIPS ARE AT SLOW SPEEDS FOR SHORT DISTANCES, I INITIALLY OVERLOOKED/DISMISSED THE PROBLEM. BUT IS IT BECOMING MORE NOTICEABLE (LONGER PERIOD WITHOUT ACCELERATION POWER), MORE FREQUENT (OCCURS MORE OFTEN WHEN USING THE CAR) AND DANGEROUS (CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE, ANY TIME AND AT ANY SPEED). I SUSPECT I AM REPORTING THIS PROBLEM LATER THAN OTHER TUCSON CAR OWNERS BECAUSE I DO NOT DRIVE MUCH. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR 11 MONTHS AND IT HAS 3,700 MILES ON IT. PROBLEMS STARTED SHOWING UP AROUND 3,500 MILES.
SPORADICALLY WHEN YOU STEP ON GAS TO ACCELERATE, IT WILL JUST "BOG DOWN" AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES BOTH AT AROUND 20 MPH OR AROUND 55 MPH. IT WILL NOT RECOVER UNLESS YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR COMPLETELY AND WAIT FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. I TRIED ONCE WHEN IT DID THIS, TO JUST KEEP THE ACCELERATOR DOWN TO SEE IF IT WOULD RECOVER. IT DID NOT, IT JUST SLOWED DOWN TILL IT STOPPED.
