THE CAR JERKS WHEN THE ENGINE RUNS AFTER A HALF AN HOUR. THE STEERING WHEELS TURNS LOUD VEERING EITHER HARD LEFT OR RIGHT. THE BATTERY TURN AN ALARM AFTER TWO/THREE MINUTES.
WHEN MY VEHICLE IS IN TRAFFIC OR IN A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I HAVE TO STOP, WHEN I ACCELERATE TO MOVE THEY WON'T MOVE AFTER I INCREASE THE REVOLUTIONS OR AFTER FEW SECONDS. ITS FEELS LIKE THE CLUTCH DON'T ENGAGE PROPERLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V280000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,320.

ISSUE WITH THE DCT TRANSMISSION ON THE 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON SPORT. AFTER THE FIRST UPDATE THE ISSUE SEEMED TO HAPPEN LESS OFTEN WHICH WAS COMPLETED BACK IN SEPTEMBER. NEW UPDATE IN JANUARY HAS MADE THE ISSUE MORE PREVALENT AGAIN THOUGH NOT AS BAD AS WHEN ORIGINALLY BOUGHT. ISSUE IS NOTICEABLE HESITATION WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP, ESPECIALLY IF TURNING FROM A STOP OR PULLING OUT QUICKLY. RPS WILL REV AND THEN CAR WILL FINALLY MATCH RPMS AND TAKE OFF SUDDENLY.
HAS AN ECO BOOST/SPORT MODE TRANSMISSION. WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, SUCH AS AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN OR EVENACCELERATING FROM A SLOW DOWN THERE IS A LAG IN THE ENGAGEMENT OF GEARS THAT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO "STALL" IN THE INTERSECTION. IT REVS AND FEELS AS IF THERE IS POWER, THE TRANSMISSION JUST DOESN'T ENGAGE. IT CREATES AN INABILITY TO MOVE THE VEHICLE WHILE IN TRAFFIC OR WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO, IF NOT IDENTICAL TO THE TRANSMISSION RECALL ANNOUNCED IN 8/30/2016 FOR, I BELIEVE, THE SAME TRANSMISSION IN OTHER MODELS OF THE 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING OVER 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO GAIN CONTROL BEFORE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTH CHARLOTTE HYUNDAI (8525 SOUTH BLVD, CHARLOTTE, NC 28273 (980) 224-5870) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 10451311. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HEAR FROM THEM WITHIN THREE TO FIVE DAYS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO AUTOMATICALLY SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR AT LEAST FIVE SECONDS AND THEN DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST TAKEN TO EARNHARDT HYUNDAI (10401 PAPAGO FWY, AVONDALE, AZ 85323 (623) 388-5800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A SOFTWARE FAILURE AND THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE HAD TO BE RE-WRITTEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO RODEO HYUNDAI (12925 N AUTOSHOW AVE, SURPRISE, AZ 85388 (623) 214-4100) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED FOR THE SECOND TIME, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EMAILED THE DEALER A MANUAL ON HOW TO CORRECTLY OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,500. UPDATED 09/27/17*LJ *TR
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WITHIN TWO YEARS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO GAIN SPEED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER RECALL AND PROVIDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. HOWEVER, MONTHS LATER, THE CONDITION CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY AND MORE FREQUENTLY. THE DEALER (COURTESY HYUNDAI, 939 NEWPORT AVE, PAWTUCKET, RI 02861 (401) 622-1295) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, AND INDICATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER HAD NOT YET DEVELOPED A SOLUTION. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
I HAVE HAD TWO EMERGENCY RECALLS DUE TO TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, JERKING AT SLOW SPEEDS, ALMOST STALLING OUT AND ACTCELLERATING ABNORMALLY WITH THE RPM'S RACING. DURING EACH RECALL, THE DEALERSHIP COMPLETES AN UPDATED SOFTWARE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND WHEN I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP, MY VEHICLE NOTICEABLY DRIVES MUCH SMOOTHER AND NORMAL. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE TUCSON TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BEGINS ALL OVER AGAIN LIKE THE IT ACTED BEFORE. I FEEL THIS 2016 HYUNDAI TUSCON ECO 1.6LT SUV IS A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. WHAT IS MY RECOURSE ON THIS CONTINUOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM? IT HAS ABOUT 11K IN MILEAGE. CAN THIS VEHICLE BE LEMON LAW'D AS I HAVE OWNED IT FOR UNDER A YEAR?

HAD RECALL 16-01-057 PERFORMED AT LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER IN HACKETTSTOWN AND SINCE THEN HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH IT NOT MOVING WHEN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT LIKE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND THEN IT GRABS AND ALMOST CAUSES ACCIDENT..DEALER SAYS THAT RECALL WOULD NOT MAKE IT DO THIS AND WHEN THEY DRIVE SAY THERE ARE NO ISSUES.THERE ARE MULTIPLE OTHER PEOPLE ON INTERNET HAVING SAME ISSUE, SO NOT SOMETHING I AM MAKING UP. WHEN IS SOMETHING GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE ABOUT A WEEK. I DROVE INTO IN THE GARAGE AND PARKED THE NIGHT BEFORE WITHOUT INCIDENT. HEARD A SOUND OF A FAN OR SMALL MOTOR RUNNING SOMEWHERE AROUND THE VEHICLE BEFORE I WENT IN FOR THE NIGHT, BUT COULDN'T DETERMINE IF IT WAS FROM THE VEHICLE OR FROM THE GARAGE HEATER UNIT. THE NEXT MORNING HYUNDAI TUCSON IS COMPLETELY DEAD. WHY?
SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2015, THE VEHICLE HAS HAD DIFFICULTY SHIFTING AT LOWER SPEEDS AND ACCELERATING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. INITIALLY, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I JUST NEEDED TO GET USED TO DRIVING A TURBO. I HAVE HAD ALL THREE UPDATES DONE TO THE DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. AFTERWARDS, IN JANUARY 2017, WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY, THE VEHICLE DROPPED INTO NEUTRAL BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THE RPMS REVVED UP TO 4, BUT THE VEHICLE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM. BECAUSE I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THIS PRESENTED A SAFETY HAZARD TO ME. THE DEALERSHIP RE-PERFORMED THE DECEMBER 2016 UPDATE THE FIRST PART OF FEBRUARY 2017 AND CAUSED A FULL SYSTEM FAILURE REQUIRING MANUAL REPROGRAMMING. IT THEN RELEASED THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME. AFTER TWO DAYS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY. I WAS AGAIN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND AFRAID ABOUT BEING REAR-ENDED. WHEN THE CAR REENGAGED AFTER THESE FAILURES, IT THEN SURGED FORWARD. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND THEREFORE UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME IT HAS NOT BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THUS HAS NOTHING TO FIX. ADDITIONALLY, IT HAS BEEN IN TOUCH WITH HYUNDAI CORPORATE WHOSE POSITION IS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED WITH THE DECEMBER 2016 UPDATE. AND, SINCE THE DEALER HASN'T DUPLICATED IT, THEY HAVE NO FURTHER OBLIGATION TO ME. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, HYUNDAI CORPORATE KNOWS OF NO OTHER CAR IN THE NATION STILL HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AFTER THE DECEMBER 2016 UPDATE. IN ADDITION TO MY COMPLAINT, PLEASE REVIEW NHSTA 10948958, 10939802, 10938874, 10939196, AND 10946886 TO TEST THE CREDIBILITY OF ITS ASSERTION.
WHEN SLOWING TO A CRAWL IN TRAFFIC WHEN ACCELERATING CAR LEACH FORWARD THIS CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVER IS NOT FOR THIS ACTION BY THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH A YEAR SIGN HYUNDAI HAS NO FIX FOR THIS WHEN CALL WEATHER THE DEALER/ HYUNDAI WERE TOLD TO LIVE WITH THIS. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUS HURT
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER/ACCELERATION FROM TAKING OFF. ALMOST CAUSING SEVERE WRECK. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. DCT TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND HAS BEEN SERVICED/UPDATED 3 TIMES. TRANSMISSION ALSO HESITATES ON TAKE OFF AND IN UPPER GEARS. VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE
WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN I LET OFF THE BRAKE AND HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO MOVE IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND ONCE IT STARTS MOVING THE CAR STARTS JERKING AND SLIPS FROM 1 TO 2ND GEAR. SAME THING HAS HAPPENED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, AND MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AND REPROGRAMMING THE COMPUTER IT WILL STILL DO IT. THE CAR HAS 56K MILES ON IT AND IT SEEMS TO BE DOING IT MORE OFTEN NOW. I REALLY DIDN'T THINK ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE, BUT AFTER READING UP ON IT, IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE ON THE 1.6 TURBO TUCSON. ALSO THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS SEEM TO STOP WORKING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN JUST WORK AS IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES AS WELL. I'M AFRAID WE'RE ARE GOING TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS.
UNDER COLD CONDITIONS, THE REAR HOOD DOES NOT CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN TEMPERATURES GO BELOW ZERO. WHEN TEMPERATURES GO INTO THE 30'S F, IT STARTS WORKING AGAIN. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THE REAR HOOD OPEN AT BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: UPDATE 1/4/2017: UNFORTUNATELY, THE ISSUES THAT I HAVE HAD WITH MY VEHICLE HAVE STILL NOT BEEN CORRECTED. AS OF TODAY, THE HYUNDAI TUCSON THAT I SIGNED FOR STILL HAS SOME TYPE OF DYSFUNCTIONAL DUAL CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN TO PUGI HYUNDAI (DOWNERS GROVE, IL) AND I SPECIFICALLY STATED THESE CONCERNS AND THAT I WOULD LIKE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED FOR THIS ISSUE. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN ADDRESSED - IT WAS NOT. AGAIN, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO PUGI HYUNDAI FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN NOVEMBER OF 2016 TO ADDRESS THE SAME ISSUES. ONCE AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT AND WAS OK. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION ISSUE HAS BECOME WORSE. NOW, WHEN GIVING THE CAR GAS THE ENGINE WILL MAKE A REVVING NOISE AND WILL NOT MOVE. THEN THE VEHICLE WILL JERK AND SPEED UP QUICKLY. I CALLED PUGI HYUNDAI TODAY AND SPOKE WITH [XXX] (THE SERVICE MANAGER) ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEVER BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR THESE SPECIFIC ISSUES (THIS IS UNTRUE AND WAS NEVER DOCUMENTED BY PUGI HYUNDAI) AND COULD NOT HAVE AN ENGINEER TAKE A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE UNTIL I HAD GONE THROUGH THE BASIC PROTOCOLS. 1. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF HYUNDAI COULD HAVE MY ACCOUNT NOTATED PROPERLY FOR THE DATES OF 8/27/2016 AND NOVEMBER OF 2016 THAT I DID BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT INSPECTED FOR CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION ISSUES. 2. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE NOT SPEEDING UP. IT ACTS AS IF IT IS NOT GETTING GAS. I CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND IT JUST KEEPS GOING THE SAME SPEED (ABOUT 2-5MPH). I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT ONCE WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ONCE WHEN A CAR HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. I NEVER KNOW WHEN OR IF THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID AN UPDATE FOR THE TRANSMISSION WAS ISSUED AND THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. WELL, THE SAME THING IS STILL HAPPENING SO I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN TO BE LOOKED AT. NOW THEY TELL ME HYUNDAI IS GOING TO RELEASE ANOTHER UPDATE SOON. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND SOMETIMES FAILS TO ENGAGE WHEN STOPPING AND ACCELERATING. ON HIGHWAY WHEN MOVING TO PASS THE RPM'S WENT TO REDLINE AND VEHICLE DID NOT WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. OVERHEATING WARNINGS IN CITY TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LOSES POWER SOMETIMES WHEN TRANSMISSION IS CONFUSED WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. DCT IN THIS VEHICLE IS HORRIBLE EVEN WITH 3RD UPDATE FROM HYUNDAI. ENGIN SKIPS, SURGES, HESITATES. ON GOING SINCE PURCHASE
WE PURCHASED A 2016 TUCSON LIMITED ON BLACK FRIDAY OF 2016. THIS VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH THE AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) SAFETY OPTION, AS IS ADVERTISED AND DEMONSTRATED ON THE HYUNDAI WEBSITE WITH VIDEO. WE EXPERIENCED A MINOR FRONT-END COLLISION AT APPROXIMATELY 8-10 MPH WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT A YIELD FROM HIGHWAY EXIT RAMP. BASED ON THE ADVERTISED FUNCTION AND VIDEO, SHOULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY THE AEB. SUBSEQUENT TO THIS COLLISION, WE BEGAN SEEING INTERMITTENT WARNING NOTIFICATIONS TO CLEAN THE FRONT RADAR EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO DIRT OR ANY OBSTRUCTION. THESE MESSAGES WOULD SPONTANEOUSLY CLEAR AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30-60 SECONDS. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE EVALUATED. THE VEHICLE WAS WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND AFTER EXTENSIVE TESTING - WHICH INCLUDED MULTIPLE ROAD TESTS, MULTIPLE SIMULATED OBSTRUCTION DETECTION, A PEDESTRIAN CHALLENGE BY THE SERVICE MANAGER, LITERATURE REVIEWS, AND AN ONSITE EVALUATION FROM HYUNDAI ENGINEERING ' AND AFTER ALL OF THESE EVALUATIONS, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS ALSO UNABLE TO TRIGGER THE AEB UNDER ANY CONDITIONS ALTHOUGH THE ELECTRONIC SCAN INDICATES THAT THE RADAR IS OPERATIVE. THEY HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO US WITH THE STATEMENT THAT IT IS FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED. THE AEB IS NOT DEMONSTRABLY FUNCTIONING, REGARDLESS OF RADAR OPERATION.
I TOOK MY SON TO SCHOOL ON THURSDAY MORNING 12/8/2016. I WAS AT A STOP SIGN TO PULL OUT ONTO A MAIN HIGHWAY. THERE WAS A LINE OF CARS COMING BUT THEY WERE FAR ENOUGH AWAY I THOUGHT I COULD GO. I STARTED TO GO BUT CHANGED MY MIND AND LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND GO BUT THIS TIME THE ENGINE REVVED WAY UP AND THE CAR PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY VERY SLOWLY. NOW IN A PANIC, I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND IMMEDIATELY PUSHED IT DOWN AGAIN. THANKFULLY, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND TOOK OFF. THERE WAS THEN A STRANGE SMELL IN THE CAR WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE FROM THE CLUTCHES SLIPPING.
DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND CAR WILL DANGEROUSLY NOT ACCELERATE WHEN COLD
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT REGARDING THE HYUNDAI TUCSON 2016. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MAY 2016. I NOTICE THAT IT OFTEN REVVED UP TO 5000 RPM AT 2-5MILES AND WOULD NOT MOVE THEN SUDDENLY LURCH. THIS HAPPENED FOR MONTHS, I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY BRUSHED OFF. TWO WEEKS AGO WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ON THE HIGHWAY, I PRESSED THE GAS BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE ONLY REVVED THEN OUT OF NOWHERE IT LAUNCHED AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR. THEN TODAY, IT LITERALLY WENT DEAD?DEAD! WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH ON FORDHAM RD (A BUSY STREET THE BRONX) THE CAR SLOWLY LOST POWER AND STOPPED FOR 2-3 SECONDS. THEN START UP AGAIN. THIS CAR IS A DEATH TRAP!!! SOME ONE COULD HAVE RUN IN THE BACK OF MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY CLAIMED TO FIX THE DCT BUT THAT'S CRAP. VEHICLE ALSO HAD INSTANCE OF A POWER TRAIN LOSS FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND THEN SUDDEN AND POWERFUL JOLT DURING ACCELERATION (ESTIMATE SPEED RANGE ABOUT 40 MPH) ONTO A HIGHWAY FROM AN ON RAMP. DESPITE SERVICE TO ADDRESS RECALL NOTICE, VEHICLE SHUDDERS MORE DURING ROLLING STARTS AND STOPS. DIFFICULT IN SLOW MOVING AREAS INCLUDING CAR FERRIES TYPICAL TO REGIONAL COMMUTE. THE VEHICLE IS HYUNDAI'S NEW FUEL CELL MODEL. ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS OVER 7 MONTHS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE ON A HIGHWAY. THE LAST OCCASION, NOVEMBER 7, 2016, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE NEAR THE FAST LANE ON THE GLENDALE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 9:30 AM. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND, SINCE THERE IS NO LEFT HAND SHOULDER, I HAD TO COAST ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF FAST MOVING TRAFFIC TO TRY TO REACH AN EXIT RAMP. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE VEHICLE, I GAVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER A NUDGE TO THE RIGHT. I HEARD A SLIGHT MECHANICAL SOUND AND THE TRANSMISSION RE-ENGAGED AND I REGAINED FULL POWER. THE VEHICLE HAD NEARLY A FULL TANK OF FUEL AT THE TIME. THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME IN THE APRIL/MAY TIME FRAME WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY (ABOUT 1/2 TANK OF FUEL) AND THEN AGAIN IN EARLY JULY, 2016. WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE GOLDEN STATE FREEWAY NEAR GRIFFITH PARK (NOT SURE OF THE FUEL THIS TIME). BOTH TIMES, WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. IT COASTED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BUT THESE TWO TIMES -- AFTER LESS THAN A MINUTE -- THE POWER REENGAGED, OR SELF CORRECTED, ON ITS OWN. THE NOVEMBER 7TH INCIDENT LASTED SEVERAL MINUTES, AND THE ENGINE DID NOT SELF CORRECT. ON NOVEMBER 8TH, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO KEYES HYUNDAI IN VAN NUYS. SINCE IT HAD BEEN OVER 4 MONTHS AND SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES SINCE THE SECOND INCIDENT, I WAS NOT SURPRISED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE, HOWEVER, AND, SINCE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY AND CORRECT THE DEFECT, HAVE ASKED HYUNDAI TO CANCEL THE LEASE ON THE VEHICLE RATHER THAN CONTINUE TO RISK MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE.
MY TUCSON WILL RANDOMLY NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED. I AM CONSTANTLY IN FEAR TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT FREQUENTLY WILL NOT MOVE AND THEN WILL LURCH FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD A RECALL PERFORMED TWICE AND THE ISSUE IS STILL ONGOING. THE DEALER STATED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. IN ADDITION, THIS WEEK THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT END AND NOW THEIR IS VIBRATION IN THE STEERING AND WHAT FEELS LIKE A WOBBLE UNDER THE FRONT PEDALS.
VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT TIMES UNTIL 3000 RPM AND THEN SQUEALS TIRES. IT IS A SAFTEY ISSUE. HYUNDA DEALER DID A RECALL WHICH HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY. IT IS INTERMITTANT.
INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION ISSUES. UPON TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE CAR STARTS TO GO BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDELL TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. AS WAS THE CASE THE LAST TIME THE VEHICLE DID IT, ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH.
INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION ISSUES. UPON TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR VERY SLOW ROLL, THE CAR STARTS TO GO BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR WILL SHUTTER UPON ACCELERATION. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF ONE IS TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC OR CROSS AN INTERSECTION. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE HAS A DELAYED ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES EVEN AFTER THE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 16V-628 HAS BEEN APPLIED (REPROGRAMMING OF THE DCT MODULE).
FAULTY DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE WITHOUT WARNING WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES AND WITH DIFFERENT DEGREES OF SEVERITY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY OCCASIONS AND CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS THE ACCELERATION MAY NOT BE THERE WHEN NEEDED. HYUNDAI HAS KNOWN THEIR DCT IS FAULTY AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, INCLUDING 2 RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. LIVES ARE AT RISK FOR NOT ONLY THE DRIVER BUT OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL.
7 SPEED DUEL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AGAIN AFTER RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED. VEHICLE HAS STARTED TO GO INTO NEUTRAL WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC LEAVING YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO MOVE FOR A SHORT TIME. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL NOW ALSO LOSE POWER AND SHIFT INTO LOW GEAR ON ITS OWN CAUSING SUDDEN DECELERATION. VEHICLE WILL ALSO CHUG FORWARD WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THIS IS AFTER ALL OF THE RECALLS AND REPROGRAMMING OF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DONE. WE HAVE NOW HAD THREE TIMES THAT WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT, WHERE OTHER CARS HAVE HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID A BAD ACCIDENT AND THREE OTHER TIME I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BECAUSE MY VEHICLE STARTED TO GO FROM AFTER THE TRAFFIC LIGHT WOULD CHANGE AND THEN STOP MOVING. THESE VEHICLES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION IS A DEATH TRAP AND SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET KILLED! THESE PROBLEMS ARE NOT CONSISTENT BUT THEY ARE REAL AND DANGEROUS! WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE OUR NEW VEHICLE! WHILE IN TRAFFIC SLOWLY GOING UP A HILL ON A CITY STREET, THE CAR SIGNALED "TRANSMISSION TEMP. IS HIGH! STOP SAFELY." I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OVER FOR A FEW MINUTES BECAUSE OF THE STOPPED TRAFFIC, THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR TURNED OFF! I WAS STUCK UPHILL WITH THOSE AROUND ME HONKING TO MOVE THE CAR. AFTER SOME TIME, I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND MOVE FORWARD. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PARK THE CAR AND TURN IT OFF. AFTER A FEW HOURS, I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE. I WAS NOTIFIED BY HYUNDAI THAT THIS IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AND THE INFORMATION IS IN MY MANUAL. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT SAY THE CAR WILL TURN OFF ON ITS OWN! WHY DIDN'T THE DEALER TELL ME THIS?! IT IS VERY DANGEROUS!

I TOOK MY 2016 TUCSON INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 9/23/2016 TO ADDRESS THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION RECALL. PRIOR TO THAT, MY TUCSON WOULD RANDOMLY JERK, NOT ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND THE RPMS WOULD GO HAYWIRE. NOW, 10/12/2016, AFTER I TOOK IT IN FOR A RECALL, I AM STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S HAPPENED ONCE IN SLOW TRAFFIC, AND JUST THIS MORNING ON THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. THIS TIME HOWEVER, THE TUCSON'S RPMS WENT FROM THE 2X AREA TO THE 4X AREA WITHOUT PROVOCATION, CAUSING THE TUCSON TO DRASTICALLY ACCELERATE, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO REAR END SOMEONE. THIS WAS WITHOUT ME MANUALLY ACCELERATING. AT THIS POINT, I FEEL LIKE I'M DRIVING A DEATHTRAP AND AM UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED THAT HYUNDAI HAS DONE NOTHING TO TRULY CORRECT THIS ISSUE.

RETURNED FOR SAME ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION. SERVICE PERFORMED A 2ND RECALL ON AN UPGRADE TO TRANSMISSION FOR SAME ISSUE. 2/23/17 RETURNED AGAIN FOR SAME ISSUE. NO MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. STATED THAT ALL WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND THAT IS HOW A DCT SHOULD RESPOND. 4/25/17. RETURNED AGAIN FOR SAME ISSUE. STATED NO PROBLEMS EXISTS. ENGINEER WAS GOING TO BE CONTACTED TO PERFORM TEST DRIVE AND FURTHER INVESTIGATE ISSUES. ENGINEER CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO COME AND PERFORM TEST DRIVE. 4/26/17: CONTACTED HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS (COMPLAIN #10185159). CASE MANAGER ASSIGNED. STATED I WOULD HEAR WITHIN 3-5 DAYS. COMPLETED TEST DRIVE WITH ENGINEER WHILE HE PROVIDED TIPS OF HOW TO PROPERLY DRIVE WITH A DCT AND HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED WITH THE HESITATION KNOWN. 5/27/17: CONTACTED A PRIVATE TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST REGARDING HESITATION/JERKING OF TRANSMISSION. PROVIDED A TEST DRIVE AND IT WAS AGREED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS HESITATING AND JERKING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHICH IS NOT NORMAL.

THIS RESULTS IN A DELAY OF MOVEMENT FOLLOWED BY THE CAR LUNGING FORWARD WHEN IT DOES BEGIN TO DRIVE AGAIN, CREATING A VERY UNSAFE AND TERRIFYING SITUATION. I INITIALLY TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL ON OCTOBER 6, 2016. SINCE THEN I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT AT TO FIX THE ISSUE TWO MORE TIMES. WHEN I CALLED BACK THE FOURTH TIME I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT HYUNDAI CORPORATE. HYUNDAI CORPORATE HAS ONLY TOLD ME TO NOT DRIVE IN ECO MODE AND TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LEARN ABOUT DRIVING IN THE THREE DIFFERENT MODES. I HAVE ALSO DONE THAT AND BOTH OF THE MEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOKED VERY CONFUSED AND TOLD ME HYUNDAI DOES NOT TELL THEM TO HAVE CUSTOMERS DRIVE IN ANY PARTICULAR MODE. WHAT THEY DID TELL ME WAS THAT GIVEN MY SITUATION AND IT HAPPENING IN ALL THREE MODES I SHOULD USE THE MODES WHICH FEELS THE SAFEST FOR ME. THIS IS IN NO WAY A SOLUTION AS ALL THREE MODES ARE POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING AND I EXPERIENCE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE MY CAR.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT ON THIS CAR. THERE HAS BEEN PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY LURCH FORWARD OR BACKWARD IF YOU WERE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. WE TOOK OUR CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 WHILE IT WAS THERE TWO RECALLS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. ONE WAS RECALL 149 WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE OTHER WAS FOR A HOOD LATCH. SINCE THIS SERVICE WORK THERE HAVE BEEN ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. I BEGAN KEEPING A LOG BEFORE THE LAST SERVICE WORK. SAME TYPE PROBLEMS AS BEFORE THE RECALL WAS TAKEN CARE OF. TODAY, MY WIFE CALLED ME IN A PANIC ABOUT THE CAR. SHE HAD TRIED TO PULL OUT ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR REVVED UP BUT DID NOT MOVE. SHE SAID THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD VERY ABRUPTLY SO MUCH SO THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. SHE IS SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. I CALLED TAMERON HYUNDAI AND SPOKE WITH RANDALL IN SERVICE. I EXPLAINED THE INCIDENTS THAT HAD HAPPENED SINCE THE RECALL. HE ASKED IF WE COULD BRING THE CAR IN TODAY. WE COULD NOT DUE TO WORK REASONS. I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER TOMORROW. NOT SURE WHAT THEY WILL DO OR SAY. I TOO AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THIS CAR.
I PURCHASED A HYUNDAI TUCSON IN SEPEMBER OF 2016 NEW. I NOTICED RIGHT AWAY THAT I COULD NOT SEE VERY WELL AT NIGHT. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE AIMED AT THE GROUND 2-3 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF THE BUMPER. WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON YOU CAN SEE THE DEFINITE LINE BETWEEN LIGHT AND DARK APPROX 4-5 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF THE BUMPER. WHEN CARS ARE APPROACHING ON AN UNDIVIDED ROAD, THE VISIBILITY IS REDUCED EVEN MORE FROM THE GLARE OF THE ONCOMING LIGHTS. I HAVE HAD 2 CLOSE CALLS WHERE I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN WALKING ON THE EDGE OF THE ROAD WITH DARK CLOTHES ON. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AUTOFAIR HYUNDAI IN MANCHESTER, NH ON TWO OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHTS ADJUSTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I QUOTE THE RESPONSE,"CUSTOMER WOULD LIKE US TO ADJUST THE HEADLIGHTS, STATES HE CAN NOT SEE AT NIGHT, CAN SEE IF WE CAN ADJUST THEM, MISC PER STATE LAW WE CANNOT ADJUST THE HEADLIGHTS ABOVE WHERE THEY ARE CURRENTLY. 6686 ISP" THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY'S EVALUATIONS SAYS "MANUFACTURERS AREN'T PAYING ENOUGH ATTENTION TO THE ACTUAL ON-ROAD PERFORMANCE OF THE BASIC EQUIPMENT,WE'RE OPTIMISTIC THAT IMPROVEMENTS WILL COME QUICKLY NOW THAT WE'VE GIVEN AUTOMAKERS SOMETHING TO STRIVE FOR." FOR 2017, VEHICLES WILL NEED GOOD OR ACCEPTABLE HEADLIGHTS IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE INSTITUTE'S HIGHEST AWARD, TOP SAFETY PICK+.THAT'S REAL NICE OF THEM. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY 2016 MODEL? I WANT MY VEHICLE RECALLED AND REPAIRED. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO WAIT AND BE FORCED TO BUY A 2017 MODEL IN ORDER TO HAVE A SAFE CAR AT NIGHT?
