JUST LIKE SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINANTS HERE: MY 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON FAILED TO MOVE FORWARD AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND ULTIMATELY HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER "FIXED" THE ISSUE BY RESETTING THE TRANSMISSION MODULE. HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT INDICATE WHY IT FAILED IN THE FIRST PLACE NOR COULD THEY GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS HERE AND AT HYUNDAI-FORUMS, THIS IS BECOMING A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI. IT IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IF THE VEHICLE BECOMES IMMOBILE WHILE TURNING LEFT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. MULTIPLE EXPERIENCES AFTER BEING STOPPED (RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN, FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU ) WITH THE TRANSMISSION REMAINING IN DRIVE AND BRAKES ENGAGED, WHEN TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD, THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ENGAGE. RPM'S INCREASE, BUT NO MOVEMENT IN THE VHEICLE. THEN IT LURCHES FORWARD. POTENTIAL DANGER IN A) BEING REAR ENDED AT AN INTERSECTION LIGHT BECAUSE THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD B) SUDDEN LURCHING COULD POTENTIALLY REAR END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT IF I DON'T KEEP PLENTY OF ROOM. THERE WAS A SOFTWARE TO FIX THIS ISSUE ((ST.LF.USA.E478.150901: SEP 1 2015 12:00AM). BUT IT HASN'T. I'VE EXPERIENCED IT 3 TIMES TODAY. TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 7/2/16, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. TOLD ME THAT MY GEAR OIL WAS LOW AND REFILLED. BUT AM STILL EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTIES.
VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR FROM STATIONARY POSITION. HAS OCCURRED PERIODICALLY (AT LEAST 25 TIMES) SINCE ODOMETER READ 1800 MILES (CURRENT MILAGE IS 8000 MILES).. IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND TOOK AT LEAST 5 MINUTES TO GO INTO GEAR. IT HAS ALSO FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR WHILE STARTING FROM A STOP IN TRAFFIC AND LEAVES CAR POWERLESS FOR FORWARD MOTION WITH MOVING TRAFFIC ALL AROUND. HAVE HAD IT TO DEALER AT LEAST 3 TIMES REPORTING SHIFTING/ TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION REPROGRAMMED ONCE BUT ISSUE STARTED AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 500 MILES. DEALER CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.
THE PROBLEM IS THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT). AT TIMES, WHEN PROGRESSING FROM A STOP (STATIONARY), THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES NORMALLY BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT IMPART MOTION TO THE WHEELS. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA WEBSITE AND ON THE HYUNDAI FORUM WEBSITE. HYUNDAI IS SILENT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO RECALL THIS DCT FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT IMMEDIATELY.
TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED IN DRIVE. THIS IS A KNOWN CONDITION TO HYUNDAI, DIAGNOSED AS DCT FAILURE. HYUNDAI HAS NO KNOWN FIX. CAR WAS 6 WEEKS OLD WITH 740 MILES ON IT. CAT WAS BOUGHT NEW WITH 65 MILES. DCT FAILED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION LEAVING WIFE AND CHILD STRANDED IN DANGEROUS TRAFFIC SITUATION. NOW AT DEALERSHIP AWAITING ANYTHING FROM HYUNDAI. THIS CAR WAS ALMOST NOT SOLD TO US DUE TO A ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE HOOD LATCH, BUT WAS HAPPILY SOLD WITH A KNOWN DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION ISSUE.
SUV WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN LIGHT TURNS GREEN. HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHERE IT REVS HESITATES AND THEN GOES. YESTERDAY, WHEN AT A GREEN LIGHT NEAR MY HOUSE, CAR REVVED AND WOULD NOT GO EVEN WITH FOOT PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN ON ACCELERATOR. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE BEHIND ME OTHERWISE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT WITH THE PERSON BEHIND ACCELERATING AND ME UNABLE TO MOVE AT ALL! CALLED DEALER RIGHT AWAY. IT WAS 4PM ON SATURDAY 6/25. THEY COULD NOT SEE ME. COULDN'T GET ME IN FOR AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL THIS THURSDAY. WILL GO IN FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING (MONDAY) AND DEMAND SOMETHING BE DONE. SPOKE WITH SERVICE MANAGER. HE SAID THEY WILL CHECK BUT DOUBT THEY WILL FIND ANYTHING AS NONE OF THE CHECK LIGHTS OR COMPUTER CHECKS HAD TRIGGERED DURING ANY OF THE ACCELERATOR INCIDENTS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. WANT OTHERS TO BE AWARE OF THIS MAYBE BEFORE PURCHASING THE CAR!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FELT AS THOUGH IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DRIVEN HOME. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE ISSUE WOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
I AM EXPERIENCING AN UNSAFE ISSUE WITH 2016 HYUNDAI NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. BOUGHT ON 02/22/16 AT WILLIAMSBURG HYUNDAI, VA. IN MAY, EARLY JUNE, THERE WHERE 3 OCCASIONS AFTER STOPPING THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. EARLY JUNE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION, DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING, HAPPENED. THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASED BUT NO FORWARD MOVEMENT. STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS ALMOST HITTING THE CAR BEHIND ME. HAD TO SHIFT TO PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD. MID-JUNE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN, HIT THE GAS, THE CAR SAT STILL. THE RPM'S INCREASED BUT NO FORWARD MOVEMENT. MY WIFE HAD TO PLACE IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE BEFORE SHE COULD MOVE FORWARD CAUSING HER TO SIT THROUGH THE ENTIRE CYCLE ON THE LIGHT. LATE JUNE ENTERING MEG AUTO SPA (CAR WASH), STOPPED TO ENTER THE WASHING TUNNEL AND COULD NOT MOVE FORWARD UNTIL SHIFTED THE CAR TO PARK AND THE BACK TO DRIVE. SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 06/27/2016. TOLD THAT LAG IN SHIFTING WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE ANYWAY. DAY 1 WAS CONTACTED BY DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ISSUE BUT WANTED TO KEEP THE CAR FOR A WEEK TO TEST. AT THE END OF EACH DAY THEY CONTACTED US TO KEEP US INFORMED AS THE STATUS OF THE TESTING. ON FRIDAY, JULY 1ST, I WAS INFORMED THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THEY WILL SEND THE DATA TO HYUNDAI ENGINEERS TO BE STUDIED. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT OTHER DEALERS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AND THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE OF WHAT THE NEXT STEPS WOULD BE. WE RETURNED TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY JULY 5TH WHERE WE WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A LOANER CAR WHILE THIS ISSUE IS INVESTIGATED. SO FAR THE DEALER SHIP HAS BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE AND ATTENTIVE TO OUR SITUATION. HOWEVER, AS OF TODAY, JUNE 14, 2016 THEY STILL HAVE OUR CAR AND THERE IS NO SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.
WAS SITTING STILL AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE ENGINE SHOWED RPM'S MOVING BUT VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN CAR WAS VERY SLOW TO RESPOND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND TURNING WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
UPDATE TO COMPLAINT 10876205... THE DAY AFTER I POSTED THE COMPLAINT, I WAS TAKING A LEFT HAND TURN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN, IT SLOWLY SLIPPED INTO 1ST GEAR AND AS THERE WAS A CAR COMING CROSSWAYS RAPIDLY, I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL A LITTLE MORE, THE ENGINE REVVED UP ~ 4000 RPM IN 2ND GEAR BUT WASN'T MOVING ANY FASTER, JERKED INTO 3RD, WAS ALMOST HIT. I TOOK MY TUCSON BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY (06/24/16) AND THEY STILL HAVE IT (06/28/16). IS ANYONE GOING TO STEP IN BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED?
AFTER STARTING FROM A STOP, THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT) DOES NOT ALWAYS SHIFT INTO GEAR. INSTEAD IT STAYS DISENGAGES AND THE ENGINE REVS AS IF IN NEUTRAL. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. CAR WAS RETURNED TO LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, AND HAS BEEN IN SHOP SINCE. WE STARTED THE HYUNDAI BUYBACK PROGRAM TO SEE IF WE CAN GET A REFUND AS WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR WITH OUR CHILDREN.
I HAVE THE 1.7 TURBO ENGINE WITH THE DUAL-CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, ENGINE REVS AND CAR DOESN'T MOVE (AS IF IT'S STUCK IN NEUTRAL). TRANSMISSION FINALLY KICKS IN, BUT ONLY AFTER A SCARY COUPLE OF SECONDS - ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING LEFT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION. I SAY IT'S DANGEROUS!!
IN TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS ABOUT A MONTH APART, I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BEHIND SEVERAL OTHER CARS. WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. IT WOULD GO BACKWARD, BUT NOT FORWARD. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOR A FEW MINUTES THAT SAID THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS TOO HOT AND I SHOULD STOP THE CAR SAFELY. (LIKE IT WASN'T ALREADY UTTERLY STOPPED, IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT-TURN LANE.) AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF, BUT THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT GO FORWARD, FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER ABOUT 2,400 MILES. THE DEALER SAID THAT HYUNDAI TECHNICAL TOLD HIM THERE WAS AN UPDATE TO THE SENSOR SOFTWARE THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. HE SAID HE PERFORMED THE UPDATE. SECOND INCIDENT WAS ABOUT A MONTH AND 600 MILES LATER. DIFFERENT TRAFFIC LIGHT, DIFFERENT LEFT TURN LANE, SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME, AS I WAITED 2 HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK, AFTER ABOUT 25 MINUTES, THE CAR SPONTANEOUSLY DROPPED BACK INTO GEAR AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT 2-3 BLOCKS BEFORE IT STOPPED DEAD AGAIN AT ANOTHER TRAFFIC LIGHT. IN THE REMAINING 90 MINUTES WHILE I WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK, THE CAR WOULD SPORADICALLY BE ABLE TO LURCH FORWARD A FEW FEET IN LOW GEAR BEFORE DROPPING OUT OF GEAR AGAIN AND STOPPING. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WHO TRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR UP THE TRUCK RAMP EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND VERIFIED IT. CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER NOW FOR OVER A WEEK. TODAY, HYUNDAI TECHNICAL GAVE IT A "FAST TRACK" NUMBER. SERVICE MANAGER IS STILL WAITING FOR DIRECTION FROM HYUNDAI TECHNICAL FOR WHAT TO DO TO FIX IT. HE TOLD ME THAT MY CAR IS NOT THE FIRST CAR HE HAS SEEN WITH THIS PROBLEM. AND WHILE MY CAR HAS BEEN IN HIS SHOP THIS WEEK, ANOTHER VEHICLE HAS COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
2016 TUSCON LIMITED..SAME ISSUE AS INDICATED HERE WITH DISENGAGED DCT TRANSMISSION AFTER BEING STOPPED, OR VERY SLOW SPEEDS. AT 3500 MILES MINE STARTED WITH A VIBRATION AT 1-2 MPH, DEALER NOTED THE ISSUE BUT HAD NO FIX. ENGINEER WAS SENT TO REVIEW. NOW AT 6000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION STARTED TO DISENGAGE AT RANDOM TIMES. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND A CASE WAS OPEN. MY BUSINESS PARTNER ALSO PURCHASED ONE ON THE SAME WEEKEND AS I DID, AND SOME FRIENDS DID ALSO A FEW MONTHS LATER. ALL 3 OF THE CARS ARE AT THE DEALERSHIP. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND I WILL NOT LET HER DRIVE IT. I HAVE REQUESTED A BUYBACK. IF I DO NOT GET THIS TO HAPPEN SOON, I WILL SEEK LEMON LAW OR OPEN UP A CLASS ACTION. VERY UNSAFE AND ONLY A MATTER OF TIME SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED ON A LEFT TURN INTERSECTION
AS I WAS RETURNING FROM LUNCH TO WORK ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP AND ACT ABNORMAL. FROM STOPPING AT STOP LIGHTS TO RUNNING THE VEHICLE AT THE POSTED SPEED LIMITS I FELT I WAS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR JUST ACCELERATED AND SLOWED DOWN. THE RPMS OF THE ENGINE INCREASED AND DECREASED DURING THIS TIME. I AM NOW, VERY CONCERNED WITH MY/MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION BECAUSE MY CAR HAS ONLY 4,000 MILES. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE HYUNDAI FORUMS THAT ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, WHICH MAY NOT BE AFFECTING ALL VEHICLES BUT IT SHOULD BE A MAJOR CONCERN CONSIDERING THE ACCELARATION AND SLOWING DOWN ISSUES I EXPERIENCED TODAY. ONCE I GATHERED ENOUGH COURAGE TO CONTINUE DRIVING DESPITE THE ERROR MESSAGE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (SEE PHOTOS ATTACHED OF ERROR MESSAGE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER. SINCE I COULDN'T WAIT FOR MY CAR I HAD THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE DROP ME OFF AT WORK. THE DEALER CALLED ME BACK ABOUT 1.5 HOUR LATER EXPLAING THAT THEY RESET THE COMPUTER (WHATEVER THAT MEANS). I PICKED UP MY TUCSON AND IT APPEARS THAT RESETTING THE COMPUTER DID CLEAR THE ERROR AND THE ISSUE BUT I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR MY LIFE THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN SOMEWHERE ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE MY NORMAL HOME TO WORK AND BACK ROUTE HAS HIGHWAYS.
WAITING AT A LIGHT ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. PUSHED ACCELERATOR ENGINE REVS AND NOTHING. NO POWER IS TRANSFERRED TO THE DRIVE WHEELS. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES. I THOUGHT I ACCIDENTALLY MOVED THE SHIFT TO NEUTRAL. NOPE. TRIED AGAIN AND JUST ENGINE REV, NO MOVEMENT. PUT IN NEUTRAL AND SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND FINALLY GOT GOING. NEXT INTERSECTION I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT AGAINST OPPOSING TRAFFIC AND CHICKENED OUT UNTIL THE LIGHT CHANGED TO RED. SAME [XXX] THING OCCURRED! COULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED AND WHOSE FAULT WOULD IT HAVE BEEN? MINE SINCE THERE IS NO OWNING UP TO THE ISSUE WITH HYUNDAI AND NO INDICATION OF THE ISSUE RECORDED BY THE CAR'S COMPUTER! NO ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER INDICATION RECORDED BY THE VEHICLE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY HAD ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND WERE DEEMED AT FAULT BY THEIR INSURANCE? HAVE ENCOUNTERED SEVERAL INSTANCES OF DCT NOT ENGAGING AFTER "CREEP" OR "CRAWL" TO A STOP SIGN AWAITING RIGHT-OF-WAY TO PROCEED. FOLLOWING "CREEP" AND SUBSEQUENT STOP AT SIGN, JUST ENOUGH PROPULSION IS GIVEN TO ENTER THE INTERSECTION, AND THEN DCT DISENGAGES AND HIGH ENGINE RPMS WITH NO FORWARD PROPULSION, WHATSOEVER. HAS VERY NEARLY CAUSED A BROAD-SIDE ACCIDENT ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. THIS CONDITION IS VERY UNSAFE FOR CITY AND HWY STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC (AND ENTERING ANY SORT OF ROADWAY). HAS HAPPENED BOTH IN SITUATIONS WHEN TURNING FROM A STOP AND PROCEEDING FOWARD FROM A STOP. EACH TIME IS JUST ENOUGH FOWARD PROPULSION TO ALLOW VEHICLE TO ENTER THE ROADWAY BROADSIDE TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND THEN COMPLETE LOSS OF FORWARD PROPULSION LEAVING VEHICLE STATIONARY FOR 10, 15, UP TO 20 SECONDS WITH NO FORWARD PROPULSION TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING CROSS-TRAFFIC.
TRANSMISSION FAILS TO PROPERLY ENGAGE CAUSING ROLLBACK, STALLING, OR SEVERE LOSS OF POWER IN SITUATIONS SUCH AT A STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN, HILL, AND EVEN TURNING LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHERE POWER IS NEEDED TO SAFELY CROSS THE INTERSECTION. ONE INSTANCE INVOLVED ACCELERATION ONTO THE INTERSTATE WHILE TRYING TO MERGE AND THE TRANSMISSION ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL CAUSING NO ACCELERATION. OTHER VEHICLES HONKED AND SWERVED TO AVOID AND LUCKILY DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ANOTHER INSTANCE INVOLVED TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION WHERE THERE WAS SUFFICIENT TIME TO TURN BUT DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION BEHAVING AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AGAIN, THERE WAS NEARLY A COLLISION CAUSING A LOT OF ANXIETY TO FURTHER DRIVE THE VEHICLE. WE RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE TWO WEEKS, WE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES IN WHICH THE DCT TRANSMISSION FAILED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CROSS FOUR LANES OF TRAFFIC, VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER TRAFFIC FLOW. IN ANOTHER CASE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN IT WAS PUT INTO REVERSE. SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND FAILED TO CHANGE GEARS. THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE AND WE HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN HYUNDAI. THIS VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AT THAT TIME THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IS IN THEIR CARE, AWAITING FURTHER CONSULTATION FROM HYUNDAI CORPORATE. HOWEVER, WE WERE TOLD THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. WE ARE CURRENTLY DISMAYED AND MAY BE SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STALLING WHEN SHIFTED INTO ECO DRIVE OR SPORT MODE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE DUAL CONTROL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A HANDOUT TO SAFELY OPERATE THROUGH THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900.
PURCHASED CAR NEW IN 3/16. 1.7 TURBO ENGINE WITH DUAL-CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (DCT). 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, ENGINE WOULD REV, BUT CAR WOULD NOT MOVE (CALLED "FALSE NEUTRAL"). IN TRAFFIC, THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. TOOK CAR IN TO DEALER. TOLD THEY HAD SEEN SEVERAL OF THESE. HYUNDAI WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND "WORKING ON IT." TOLD TO GO HOME, WAIT TO HEAR FROM THEM, AND DON'T BRING IT BACK. REACHED OUT TO HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS, THEY FINALLY CALLED BACK. TOLD ME TO TAKE CAR BACK TO DEALER AND LEAVE IT WITH THEM. HYUNDAI WOULD PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR. DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD NO IDEA WHEN HYUNDAI WOULD COME UP WITH A SOFTWARE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. IT COULD BE WEEKS OR MONTHS. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M DRIVING AROUND IN A RENTAL CAR WHILE MY BEAUTIFUL NEW $31,000 VEHICLE SITS COLLECTING DUST.
ISSUE HAS OCCURRED 6 TIMES. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNS GREEN. THE CAR IS STILL IN DRIVE AND THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASE TO 4000-5000 BUT, THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. IT FEELS LIKE THE PARKING BRAKE IS ON (IT IS NOT) AND DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOTHING MORE THAN REV THE ENGINE. IT'S LIKE STEPPING ON THE GAS WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK OR NEUTRAL.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, WHILE TRAVELING UPHILL. TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING IT WAS OVERHEATING, WHICH EVENTUALLY LOCKED UP THE TRANSMISSION, DISABLING THE CAR. AN IMMOBILE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC IS INHERENTLY UNSAFE, AND WITH UNDER 3000 MILES, THIS VEHICLE IS IN NEED OF A RECALL AND A REDESIGNED CLUTCH.
ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE FIRST TIME I HAD BACKED ON TO THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE REVS BUT NO FORWARD MOTION. I TRIED PUTTING IT IN PARK THEN DRIVE, NEUTRAL THEN DRIVE. STILL NO ACCELERATION. CAR FINALLY STARTED TO CREAP FORWARD. AFTER A MILE IT WAS DRIVING FINE. THE SECOND OCCASION I WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS NO FORWARD MOTION. AGAIN I TRIED PUTTING IT INTO PARK THEN DRIVE AND NEUTRAL THEN DRIVE. NO FORWARD MOTION. FINALLY IT SLOWLY STARTED MOVING FORWARD. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHEN/IF THIS WILL HAPPEN.
ISSUE WITH THE NEW 7 SPEED DCT. TRANSMISSION REVVED AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE AFTER DRIVING 60 MILES ON HIGHWAY, SOME STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, IN 101 DEGREE HEAT AND SITTING FOR 45 MINUTES. IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET IT TO ENGAGE, I WENT INTO MANUAL MODE, NOTICED IT WAS IN 2ND GEAR FROM START, DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR, AND WAS ABLE TO WORK THRU THE GEARS TO GET IT GOING AND EVENTUALLY PUT IT BACK INTO AUTOMATIC.
CAR IS A 2016 TUCSON WITH THE 1.6T ENGINE AND DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ON 3 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING IN SLOW TRAFFIC THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AFTER COMING TO A STOP. THE ENGINE REVS AS IF IN NEUTRAL WITH NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. AFTER 10-15 SECONDS AND SHIFTING FROM PARK BACK TO DRIVE THE ELECTRONIC CLUTCH PARTIALLY ENGAGES ENOUGH TO GET THE CAR MOVING AGAIN, BUT BEHAVES LIKE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAR WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL PARTIALLY DEPRESSED. THE CAR DOES NOT DISPLAY ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR ERROR CODES. TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI DEALER WHO ADVISED IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION. THIS IS A HAZARD AS IT HAS LEFT ME STUCK IN TRAFFIC UNABLE TO MOVE. UNBELIEVABLE THAT HYUNDAI IS AWARE AND OFFERS NOTHING. HAVE HAD FOUR INSTANCES WHERE THE VEHICLE ENCOUNTERS AN ISSUE WITH MOVING FORWARD AFTER COMING TO A STOP. FIRST INSTANCE AT A STOP LIGHT, WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD AT ALL. ENGINE WOULD REV WHEN APPLYING GAS, BUT THERE WAS NO FORWARD MOVEMENT AT ALL. VEHICLE WAS NOT PLACED INTO PARK, OR HAD BRAKE ENGAGED. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF "PLAYING" WITH GEAR SHIFT, WAS ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD AGAIN. THREE OTHER INSTANCES, AFTER COMING TO A STOP, VEHICLE WOULD ONLY CREEP FORWARD AT SLOW SPEED FOR A FEW MOMENTS EVEN IF FULLY "STEPPING ON THE GAS". IN THESE INSTANCES I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS STUCK REVVING HIGH (WAS AUDIBLE WHILE AT STOP) AND AFTER DRIVING SLOW FOR A FEW MINUTES IT SORTED ITSELF OUT. THE ENGINE STOPPED BEING STUCK AT HIGH RPMS AND THE VEHICLE REGAINED ITS ABILITY TO DRIVE FORWARD WITH USUAL HANDLING. HAVE TAKEN IT TWICE TO DEALERSHIP WHILE MENTIONING THIS ISSUE, WAS TOLD THAT UNLESS THERE WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE OR IF IT COULD BE DUPLICATED BY THEIR TECH, NOTHING COULD REALLY BE DONE. FOURTH AND MOST RECENT ISSUE, WAS IN A DRIVE THROUGH, AND THE ISSUE CAME ABOUT UPON EXITING. ENGINE WAS REVVING HIGH FROM A COMPLETE STOP, BUT WOULD ONLY CREEP FORWARD WHEN APPLYING GAS. AFTER DRIVING SLOW COMING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT FOR A FEW MOMENTS, THE ISSUE "SORTED ITSELF OUT." ENGINE RPMS DROPPED AND ACCELERATION RETURNED TO NORMAL.
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 1.6L TURBO DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. ON THREE OR MORE OCCATIONS, PRESSING THE ACCELLERATOR AFTER BEING AT A COUPLE STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE REVVING TO THE REDLINE AND THE CAR NOT MOVING. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED (JUNE 18TH 2016 ~2PM), THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS BECAUSE I WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. I ALMOST HIT THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. I TRIED TRIED PUTTING IT IN PARK. I TRIED SWITCHING TO MANUAL MODE. I TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON. NOTHING WORKED. IT WOULD NOT MOVE. IT WAS AS THOUGH IT WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THEN WITHOUT REASON, IT BEGAN TO MOVE AGAIN. WHEN IT DID MOVE, IT WAS EXTREMELY JERKY AND LURCHED FORWARD A COUPLE OF TIMES. THAT WAS THE WORST AND MOST FRIGHTENING. LATELY ALL IT HAS BEEN DOING IS ONCE OR TWICE A DAY ON AVERAGE IT DOES THE SLOW ACCELERATION AND LURCH. THIS HAPPENS DURING MY MORNING AND EVENING COMMUTE. ONCE IT HAS HAPPENED, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT IT HAS NOT HAPPENED WHILE TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. BUT IT IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THE FIRST TIME I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN IT TURNED GREEN AND I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WOULD REV BUT NOT MOVE. TRIED A FEW TIME THEN HAD TO GO INTO PARK AND DRIVE AGAIN AND THEN IT WORKED. THE SECOND TIME I WAS BACKING UP FROM A PARKING SPACE AND REVVED THE MOTOR 6 TIMES AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND THEN IN REVERSE. IT MOVED VERY SLOWLY AND WAS REVVING BECAUSE I HAD TO PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR MORE THAN I WANTED . I WAS AFRAID BOTH TIMES THE CAR WOULD SHOOT FORWARD (OR BACKWARD THE SECOND TIME). THE SHIFTING IS ALSO STRANGE IN THE CAR, IT JERKS FORWARD WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR BECAUSE IT STARTS SO SLOWLY AND THEN SEEMS TO JUMP INTO GEAR.
I PULLED INTO THE DRIVE THRU LINE AT BANK BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. I PLACED THE TUCSON INTO PARK, BUT LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME PROCESSED THEIR TRANSACTION. WHEN IT WAS MY TURN I MOVED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE FORWARD BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE. THE RPMS MOVED INTO THE 3000 AND 4000 RANGE BUT THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ON. VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. NO ERRORS OR WARNING LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD. I MOVED THE VEHICLE INTO AND OUT OF PARK AND NEUTRAL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND ALLOWED ME TO EASE FORWARD. I PLACED THE CAR BACK INTO PARK WHILE MY TRANSACTION WAS PROCESSED. AFTER MY TRANSACTION WAS COMPLETE I PLACED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVE AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL FORWARD. ONCE AGAIN HIGH RPMS AND ENGINE REVVING VERY LOUDLY BUT NOT MOVING ANYWHERE. I TRIED THE SHIFTING GEARS TRICK SEVERAL TIMES AND IT STILL DID NOT WORK. THE DRIVE THRU LANE HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS TRYING TO GET MY VEHICLE TO MOVE. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON A FEW TIMES IT FINALLY WORKED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO A PARKING SPOT. I CALLED MY HUSBAND. HE ARRIVED APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER. HE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT. HE REPORTED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP (THOUGH STILL IN DRIVE) HE WOULD THEN ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV TO HIGH RPMS FOR 3-10 SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY ENGAGING AND CAUSING A QUICK JERKY JACK RABBIT START. EVEN WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION, THE PREVIOUS 7,400 MILES DRIVEN IT WOULD ONLY REV TO APPROX 1200 RPMS PRIOR TO ACCELERATING. DECIDED TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP. CAR TURNED OFF WHILE REMOVING ITEMS. WHEN TURNED BACK ON AND DRIVING TO DEALERSHIP PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR. DEALERSHIP KEPT VEHICLE FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON TO MONDAY. THEY STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE AND THAT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES IN THE COMPUTER.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE AND YOU ARE STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR WAITING TO MAKE A TURN AND THEN YOU GO TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR ACTS AS IF IT'S IN NEUTRAL OR LIMPS ALONG. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND YOU GO TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. CLEARLY IN MY VIDEO, YOU CAN SEE THAT THE CAR IS AT A STOP, THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND THIS TIME THE CAR DIDN'T EVEN MOVE UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS PRODUCING 4500RPM'S AND THEN ONLY ACHIEVED 7MPH. IT ALMOST SEEMS LIKE THE CAR HAS NEUTRALED OUT OR THE GEAR IS SLIPPING. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HYUNDAI TWO TIMES CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, THE FIRST TIME THE TECH WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE OUR CONCERN AND THEY PERFORMED A 'RELEARN' ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE SECOND TIME THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND WE WERE SENT ON OUR WAY AS IF EVERYTHING WAS OK. THIS CONCERN IS DANGEROUS AND WE ARE SCARED, LITERALLY TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS ALMOST T-BONED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND VEHICLE DIDN'T RESPOND. OUR CONCERN IS INTERMITTENT AND HYUNDAI JUST SENDS US ON OUR WAY AS IF NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON FRIDAY, JUNE 17, MY TUCSON WAS PARKED OUTSIDE FROM 4 P.M. TO 7 P.M. AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE LOWER 90'S. WE THEN GOT IN THE CAR AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES AT 25 MILES PER HOUR TO THE REAR GATE OF THE COMMUNITY. WE STOPPED AT THE REAR GATE TO WAIT FOR IT TO OPEN, HOWEVER IT DID NOT OPEN AS IT DID NOT SENSE THE PRESENCE OF THE CAR. SO I ATTEMPTED TO BACK UP BY PLACING THE CAR IN REVERSE AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR RPM WENT TO 4000 AND THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. SO I TOOK FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, AND UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN, THE CAR RPM WENT TO AGAIN TO 4000 HOWEVER AGAIN THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. MY WIFE WAS WITH ME ASKING 'WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR IT IS NOT MOVING AND CARS ARE BEHIND US'. I THEN PLACED THE CAR IN PARK FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. THE GATE WAS NOW OPENED, SO I PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE AND DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR RPM WENT TO 3000 TO 4000 AGAIN, HOWEVER THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE EXTREMELY SLOWLY, UNDER 5 MPH. IT THEN SHIFTED, JERKING AS IT MOVED FORWARD AND SHIFTING. AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 200 FEET THE CAR BEGAN TO SHIFT AND DRIVE IN A NORMAL MANNER. THIS IS THE 6TH OR 7TH TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED, HOWEVER USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GO FORWARD FROM A STOP. THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND DOES NOT MOVE, ENGINE REVS UP BUT DOES NOT MOVE. TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND DOES NOT HAPPEN AT THE DEALERSHIP.. THE CHECK OUT THE CAR AND STATE THAT THEY FIND NO ERROR CODES AND THE CAR IS OPERATING NORMALLY.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT CONCERNING THIS VEHICLE. MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT WAS ON 06/27/16 WHERE I STATED THAT THE CAR WILL NEUTRAL OUT WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. AS SO MANY HAVE SAID IN THERE COMPLAINTS, VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ON 7/8/16, I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT CHAPMAN HYUNDAI WHERE IT SAT FOR 34 DAYS BEING DESTROYED BY THE ELEMENTS OF THE ARIZONA SUN, BEFORE HYUNDAI AMERICA FINALLY RELEASED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. BACK IN MAY, I HAD REQUESTED HYUNDAI REPURCHASE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I FELT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, WHICH OF COURSE WAS DECLINED. AFTER REQUESTING AN ENGINEER TO PERSONALLY LOOK AT MY VEHICLE, I WAS INFORMED (07/08/16) THAT HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND IS WORKING ON A SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH NO ETA. FINALLY AFTER MY CAR WAS THERE FOR 34 DAYS, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE UPDATE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AND MY CAR IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THIS INFORMATION COMES A FEW DAYS TOO LATE AS ANYTHING PASS THE 30 DAYS IS CONSIDERED LEMON LAW IN ARIZONA. SINCE THE DAY WE DROPPED OFF THE CAR, WE HAVE INSISTED THAT THEY REPURCHASE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. ON THE 11TH OF AUGUST, WE WERE INFORMED THAT ARE REQUEST FOR 'REPURCHASE' HAS BEEN APPROVED. ON THE 13TH , I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE AND NOW IT SITS IN MY GARAGE WAITING FOR THE 'REPURCHASE' TO COMPLETE. DON'T LET HYUNDAI GET AWAY WITH THIS, HOLD THEIR FEET TO THE FIRE AND DEMAND THEY REPURCHASE YOUR CAR. THE ISSUE IS SAFETY AND THEY WANT US TO BELIEVE IT'S ALL FIXED WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE? WHAT ABOUT 34 DAYS MY CAR WAS BEING DESTROYED BY THE SUN / ELEMENTS? WHAT ABOUT THE DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN DONE TO OUR CARS BY THE CLUTCH 'SLIPPING' OR 'NEUTRALLING' OUT? TUCSON WITH 4139 MILES, CAME TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT, STOPPED, WENT TO MOVE, TACH CLIMBED TO 6 GRAND AND TUCSON WOULD NOT MOVE. SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO PARK A FEW TIMES AND THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY ENGAGED AND THE TUCSON PROCEEDED FORWARD IN A JERKY MOTION BUY FINALLY SMOOTHED OUT. WENT ANOTHER 600+ MILES WITHOUT IT OCCURRING AGAIN. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAM ON AND NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES THROWN. I CONTACTED HYUNDIA C/C BY EMAIL EXPLAINING THE ISSUE WHICH FROM RESEARCHING, FOUND THAT IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THIS IS S SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP.
I HAVE HYUNDAI TUCSON LIMITED 1.6T WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY NEW CAR 2 WEEKS AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE OF THE CAR TO MOVE IN DRIVE 4 TIMES. EACH TIME THE CAR WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE FROM PARK OR REVERSE AND THE ENGINE REVS BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE FOR ~ 5 MINUTES THEN SLOWLY MOVES. THERE ARE WIDE SPREAD REPORTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS SUCH AS THE FAILURE OCCURRING IN TRAFFIC.
WHEN IN DRIVING, COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD, MUST KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE, HYUNDAI SAYS THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE TUCSON. I THINK THIS IS A PROBLEM. REPORTED IT IN MY FIRST SERVICE AND TOLD IT'S HYUNDAI'S PROBLEM. IF I HIT SOMETHING IT'S MY PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE MAKES A SOUND IN THE DASH AREA SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT. AFTER SEVERAL INSPECTIONS IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHERE THE LEFT FRONT POST WELDS WERE LOOSE OR WERE NOT PERFORMED.
ON THE EVENING OF JUNE 16, 2016, I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION OF TWO MAJOR ROADS AND WAS THE FIRST CAR IN LINE AT THE LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO PROCEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THE CAR REFUSED TO MOVE. FOR A MOMENT I THOUGH MAYBE SOME HOW I HAD HIT THE SHIFTER AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BUT I WAS STILL IN DRIVE WITH THE RPMS UP TO OVER 3500. TOOK A MINUTE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS, THE CAR FINALLY BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD AND ACCELERATE BUT THE RPMS WERE STILL HIGH AND THE CAR WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT WANTING TO GO. THE CAR STARTED SMELLING HOT AND FINALLY PROCEEDED. SCARED ME TO DEATH. I CALLED THE DEALER RIGHT AS IT HAPPENED BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. THE NEXT MORNING I WAS AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BEFORE THEY EVEN OPENED. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR THE DAY AND GAVE ME A LOANER. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND THEY "RESET THE SHIFT POINTS". I SAID I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE EVEN AFTER THAT. THEY BASICALLY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 1800 MILES ON IT. AT 3800 MILES, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR ITS FIRST OIL CHANGE AND MENTIONED THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUE TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE ADVISOR AND SAID IT WAS STILL SHIFTING ROUGH AND JUST NOT SMOOTH. HE TOLD ME HYUNDAI IS WORKING ON A FIX BUT UNTIL THEN, I STILL THINK THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE.
WAS JERKY WHEN GETTING THROUGH 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE NORMAL FOR A 4 CYLINDER, SINCE I'D BEEN DRIVING A 6 CYLINDER FOR 20 YEARS. THOUGHT I JUST HAD TO GET USED TO IT. 10 DAYS FROM PURCHASE, AT ~ 300 MILES, JUST FILLED UP WITH FUEL AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE GAS STATION... PRESSED ON ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED... LET UP AND PRESSED AGAIN... NOTHING HAPPENED... LET UP AND PRESSED AGAIN... IT STARTED SLOWLY JERKING FORWARD, INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, IT KEPT JERKING AND SLOWLY ACCELERATED UNTIL I HIT ABOUT 5 GEAR, THEN IT SMOOTHED OUT. FRIGHTENING! 26 DAYS FROM PURCHASE, AT ~ 700 MILES, FROM A COLD START, BACKED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE... REVVED THROUGH 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND HADN'T MOVED YET... HIT 3RD GEAR AND IT JERKED FORWARD AND STARTED SLOWLY MOVING. 30 DAYS FROM PURCHASE, @ ~ 816 MILES, STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT... LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE... SHIFTED THROUGH ALL OF THE GEARS (PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE) SEVERAL TIMES... IN DRIVE FOR ABOUT THE 4TH TIME AND STOMPED ON THE ACCELERATOR... IT PEALED OUT... DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP... JERKILY PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT. JUST OVER 3 HOURS LATER, WAS TOLD THEY DISCHARGED THE CAPACITOR COMPLETELY AND "RE-TAUGHT IT" THE SYSTEM. THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE FIXED, BUT, I'M AT DAY 37 AND CAN SWEAR THAT IT HESITATED YESTERDAY AND THIS MORNING. WILL KEEP YOU ABREAST. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY MALFUNCTION!
STALLS COMPLETELY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, ENGINE DEVELOPS NO POWER. REVERSE WON'T ENGAGE BACKING UP ON A SLOPE. ERRATIC INAPPROPRIATE GEAR CHANGES. SHUDDERS, VIBRATES ON ACCELERATION, AND BETWEEN GEAR CHANGES. VERY HESITANT DOWNSHIFTING AFTER GOING AROUND A CORNER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE REVERSED AND THEN MOVED FORWARD. THE FAILURE CONTINUOUSLY RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SWITCHED INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,075.
AT STOPS ON CITY STREETS THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ALWAYS ENGAGE AND MOVE FORWARD. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS ROLLED BACKWARDS UP TO 3 FT. BEFORE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND MOVES FORWARD. ADDITIONALLY THE CAR ATTEMPTS TO STALL AFTER BACKING OUT AND SHIFTING TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT MAY REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT FAILED TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND THE TRANSMITTING REPLACED. IT IS DANGEROUS. FIRST IT WAS THE SHUDDER AND ERRATIC HESITATION STARTING OUT IN 1ST GEAR. LIKE YOU HAVE A CHOICE WHAT GEAR YOU START IN. SO IT'S CRAZY FRUSTRATING. NOW IT HAS ADVANCED TO NOT ENGAGING 1ST GEAR FROM TIME TO TIME. TWICE WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. THEN ONCE ENGAGED, THE CAR BURNED RUBBER THROUGH A LEFT TURN TO EXIT THE INTERSECTION. I'M LUCKY TO HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT OR RAN ANYONE OVER INT HE PROCESS. EVERY TIME I BRING IT TO THE DEALER, THEY TALK TO ME LIKE IT IS THE DESIGN OF THE DUEL CLUTCH AND NOTHING I CAN DO SINCE IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY... WHAT?!! I'M TAKING A MORE ACTIVE APPROACH NOW TO KEEP MYSELF OR SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY FROM DYING AS A RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM THAT HYUNDAI IS CLEARLY REFUSING TO ADMIT TO. THERE IS MANY ACCOUNTS POSTED ON THE INTERNET EXACTLY THE SAME AS MINE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE DON'T READ INTERNET PROPAGANDA.. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THIS COMPANY EXISTS IN AMERICA. AND FYI - THE CAR I HAD 10 YEARS PRIOR WAS THE 2006 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THEY REBUILD THE 2016 AND THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR MY LOYALTY.
FROM A STATIONARY START THE VEHICLE RPMS RISE BUT DOES NOT ALWAYS MOVE FORWARD. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE TUCSON HAS ROLLED BACKWARDS UP TO SEVERAL FEET FROM A STOP BEFORE ENGAGING AND MOVING FORWARD. CAN'T RELY ON IT WHEN TURNING LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC. NO ISSUES ON FREEWAYS, ONLY FROM STOPS ON CITY STREETS.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, AFTER LIGHT TURN GREEN AND APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. HIGH RPMS AND ZERO SPEED. THIRTY SECONDS LATER THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO GEAR AND STARTED ACCELERATING THE WAY IT SHOULD.
THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH THE DCT TRANSMISSION. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOPLIGHT, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE AFTER RELEASING BRAKE/APPLYING GAS PEDAL. VEHICLE SHOWS THAT IS IN "D". TRIED PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN "P" AND BACK IN "D"; VEHICLE STILL DOES NOT MOVE. PUTTING THE SHIFTER IN MANUAL MODE STILL SHOWS "D" INSTEAD OF THE ACTUAL GEAR IT IS IN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A HYUNDAI DEALER. SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO THEY DID NOTHING TO RESOLVE ISSUE.
"TAKATA RECALL" -THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE AT THE PROPER TIMES. HEADRESTS MAKE YOUR HEAD BEND SO FAR FOWARD YOUR CHIN IS ALMOST TOUCHING YOUR CHEST.
