WHILE STOPPED, WITH CAR IN DRIVE, PRESSING ACCELERATOR ENGINE REVS (4 TO 5 ON THE GAUGE) BUT DOES NOT GO FORWARD. CAR THEN JERKS FORWARD AND THEN FINALLY MOVES. I SAT THRU 3 RED LIGHTS BEFORE THE CAR ACTUALLY MOVED. THIS OCCURS ON CITY STREET THIS OCCURRED ONCE BEFORE BUT THE FORWARD MOTION "CAUGHT" QUICKER THAN THE LAST TIME AT THE SAME TIME THIS OCCURRED THE AC FAILED AS DID THE BLUETOOTH. THE PHONE SAID IT WAS CONNECTED BUT THE CAR SAID IT WAS NOT . THE AC FAN WORKED BUT BLEW HOT AIR. THE AC AND PHONE WORKED AFTER TURNING OFF CAR AT DEALERSHIP. THE TECH AT DEALERSHIP CAPTURED ON VIDEO THE GEAR CLEARLY IN DRIVE AND THE CAR WAS ROLLING BACKWARD. SERVICE CENTER SAID NO ERROR CODES WERE RECORDED. HYUNDAI USA HAS NO INFORMATION TO GIVE ME. CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALER SERVICE DEPT FOR 11 DAYS NOW. CONCERN IS SAFETY OF VEHICLE TO MYSELF AND OTHERS WITH THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND CAR GOING IN REVERSE WHILE IN DRIVE.
ORIGINALLY POSTED TO THIS WEBSITE ON OR ABOUT 6/13/16. STOPPED AT RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED. ENGINE REV'ED TO 4-5K BUT CAR FAILED TO MOVE. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THEN TRIED AGAIN. SAT THRU 3 RED LIGHTS BEFORE CAR WOULD GO FORWARD. IT WAS VERY JERKY AND HESITANT THEN CAR PICKED UP SPEED. THIS WAS SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. FIRST TIME I THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD HIT THE BRAKE AND NOT GAS PEDAL. DROVE IMMEDIATEL TO DEALER AND TOLD THEM OF ISSUE. THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE JUNE 10, 2016. SERVICE TECH WAS ABLE TO ACTUALLY CAPTURE ON VIDEO (WHILE TEST DRIVING) MY GEAR SHIFT IN DRIVE AND CAR MOVING IN REVERSE. HYUNDAI USA, THE DEARLERSHIP AND MYSELF HAVE BEEN IN FREQUENT CONTACT. HYUNDAI HAS NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY SAY THE KOREAN ENGINEERS ARE INVESTIGATING. WHEN I ORGINALLY POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE THERE I COULD ONLY FIND THIS TYPE OF ISSUE FOR A 2015 TUSCON. I NOTE TODAY THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE. THIS CAR IS LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD (OWNED ) WITH LESS THAN 17K MILES. INABILITY TO CONTROL DIRECTIONAL MOTION OR SPEED WHEN IT DOES MOVE IS NOT SAFE TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. MAJORITY OF MY DRIVING IS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS .
VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE FROM A STOPPED POSITIONING A CITY STREET HAS OCCURRED RANDOMLY 4 TIMES IN FIRST 2900 MILES. VEHICLES CURRENTLY HAS 3100 MILES. AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, I DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR TO START MOVING AGAIN AND THE ENGINE REVS TO 3000-4000 RPMS,, BUT CAR DOES NOT MOVE. IT DOES NOT MOVE!!!! RELEASE ACCELERATOR, DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND CAR JERKILY MOVES FORWARD AFTER 4 TO 5 SECOND HESITATION. TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE, AT FIRST VISIT NO ERRORS CODES FOUND AND DEALER ATTEMPTED TO EXPLAIN AWAY PROBLEM "AS THIS IS HOW THE NEW TRNSMISSION WORKS, IT HAS A SMALL HESITATION". SECOND TIME AT DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK FOR THIS RECURRENT PROBLEM. AFTER STOPPING, ENGINE REVS BUT CAR FAILS TO MOVE. AGAIN, NO ERROR CODES FOUND NOR DID CAR EXHIBIT PROBLEM FOR SERVICE TECH. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO CALL HYUNDAI CONSUMER RELATIONS TO LOG THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO AS MANY OTHER ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM.
ON TWO OCCASIONS, WHEN MY TUCSON WAS AT A STOP (IN DRIVE, BRAKE ENGAGED), RELEASING THE BRAKE AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATOR RESULTED IN THE CAR STALLING, STAYING IN PLACE AND THE ENGINE REVVING AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO GO BY PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, TURNING THE ENGINE OFF, TURNING THE ENGINE BACK ON THEN PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE. THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED, I WAS IN A DRIVE-THRU. POWERING THE VEHICLE OFF AND PUTTING IT IN PARK, THEN DRIVE DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I REVVED THE ENGINE, PUTTING A LOT OF FORCE DOWN ONTO THE GAS PEDAL AND MY VEHICLE SLOWLY BEGAN ROLLING FORWARD. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE DRIVE-THRU, I HAD TO DO THIS AGAIN AND ONCE THE VEHICLE GOT UP TO A SPEED OF 30MPH OR SO, IT APPEARED TO RETURN TO NORMAL WITH SHIFTING.
DCT PROBLEMS: PURCHASED TUCSON ECO IN APRIL 2016. CURRENTLY 1350 MILES AND CAR STALLS, CREEPS UP, DOESN'T MOVE AT STOP/GO, AND UNRESPONSIVE. ALSO HIGH REVS/LOW MPH. MAJOR DCT PRODUCT FAILURE. DEALERSHIP RAN GDS SCAN TOOL AND CAN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM. THEY'RE AWARE OF PROBLEM AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS CORPORATE HAS A PROGRAMMING UPDATE. CAR CREEPS UP AT DRIVE THRU LINE WHEN FOOT RELEASED FROM BRAKE PEDAL. DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE AT INTERSECTION, ESP WHEN YOU HAVE TO MAKE A SHARP LEFT TURN. RPM REVS HIGH, CAR UNRESPONSIVE. FILED COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEY PLAYED DUMB AND WAS TOLD THAT'S HOW THE DCT BEHAVES AND GET USED TO IT. WAITING FOR HYUNDAI INVESTIGATION
WHEN STOPPED AND HITTING THE GAS PEDAL THERE HAVE BEEN OCCASIONS THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE WILL REV THE ENGINE AS IF IN NEUTRAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE GOING UPHILL AND I HAD TO WAVE GARS BEHIND ME TO PASS. 1.6T ENGINE WITH THE DCT. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THIS IS THE VEHICLE'S WAY OF NOT HURTING THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER IT DOESNT SEEM TO ME, AN AVERAGE DRIVER WHO HAS OWNED MANY CARS AS IF THIS WOULD BE SAFE OR NORMAL FOR ANYTHING MOVING ON A ROAD.
I LOVE MY CAR AND I JUST HAD IT IN FOR ITS 15,000 MILE CHECKUP LAST WEEK AND THEN ON SATURDAY I AM AT A RED LIGHT ON A BUSY ROAD AND LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND MY CAR WON'T MOVE, IT WAS ACTING LIKE I HAD IT IN PARK BUT IT WAS IN DRIVE. SO I PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN DRIVE NOTHING SO I DID THIS A FEW TIMES AND THEN IT FINALLY WENT. I WAS VERY THANKFUL THAT EVERYONE STUCK BEHIND ME DID NOT GET IMPATIENT. THE CAR DID THE SAME THING LATER IN THE DAY IN A PARKING LOT AND THEN THE NEXT DAY IN MY DRIVEWAY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. SO MONDAY MORNING I CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAVE IT BROUGHT TO THEM. ON WEDNESDAY I WENT AFTER WORK TO PICK UP MY CAR - THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO ERROR CODES CAME UP. I AM ACTUALLY NERVOUS DRIVING MY CAR NOW, I AM HOPING THAT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT IF IT DOES AND THEY DO NOT FIX IT I WILL BE GETTING ANOTHER VEHICLE.
STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO GET GAS, TURNED THE VEHICLE IGNITION OFF, PUMPED GAS, GOT BACK IN & STARTED THE VEHICLE, SAT THERE FOR A MINUTE OR TWO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK & PRESSED THE GAS, RPM'S REVVED WAY UP BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. CHECKED EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T OVERLOOKING ANYTHING; NO 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT CAME ON OR ANY OTHER DASHLIGHTS, EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED. TURNED THE SWITCH OFF & ON SEVERAL TIMES, WAITING A FEW MINUTES EACH TIME, THEN WOULD START AND SHIFT INTO REVERSE (IT WOULD BACK UP), NEUTRAL, & FINALLY DRIVE & STILL NOTHING HAPPENED. FINALLY GAVE UP, PUT IT IN REVERSE & BACKED AWAY FROM THE PUMPS TO A SAFE PLACE. CALLED HYUNDAI BLUE LINK BUT THEY WERE NO HELP AS THE VEHICLE WASN'T SENDING ANY CODES. I TRIED A COUPLE MORE TIMES THEN GAVE UP & HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SALESMAN). ONCE IT WAS OFF THE TRUCK, THE SALESMAN TRIED IT SEVERAL TIMES & GOT THE SAME RESULT. HE WAS JUST AS STUNNED AS I WAS. ON MON I CALLED HYUNDAI AMERICA & OPENED A CASE SO THERE WOULD BE DOCUMENTATION. I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE OVER THE WEEKEND & FOUND A HYUNDAI FORUM WHERE PEOPLE WERE DISCUSSING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I WAS HAD. I THEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP & MET WITH THE SERVICE DIRECTOR & THE TECHNICIAN WORKING ON MY VEHICLE. OF COURSE, THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO EVEN THOUGH IT HAD DONE THE SAME THING WITH THE SERVICE DIRECTOR THAT MORNING BUT HE FINALLY GOT IT TO MOVE. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED HYUNDAI TECH SERVICES & THEY MADE AN UPDATE/ADJUSTMENT. FOR NOW IT SEEMS TO BE FINE, BUT I AM TOTALLY PARANOID ABOUT DRIVING IT NOW! I THINK IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE NHTSA GET INVOLVED & GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, BEHIND A COUPLE OF OTHER CARS, WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I EASED UP ON THE BRAKE AND ALLOWED THE CAR TO PULL FORWARD SLOWLY. WHEN IT WAS MY TURN TO MAKE A LEFT, I GENTLY PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE RPMS ROSE BUT THE CAR DID NOT ENGAGE IN A GEAR AND THUS DIDN'T PULL FORWARD BEYOND A SLOW ROLL. I TRIED STEPPING ON THE GAS HARDER AND ALLOWED THE RPMS TO GET UP TO ABOUT 4,000. THE CAR STILL DO NOT ENGAGE IN A GEAR. I WAS IN "NORMAL" DRIVING MODE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I TRIED SHIFTING THE STICK TO MANUAL MODE AND BACK, AND ALSO PUTTING IT SPORT MODE---ALL WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. AFTER SEVERAL ROUND TRIPS UP TO 4,000 RPM AND BACK, THE CAR EVENTUALLY GOT IN GEAR. I'M NOT EXACTLY SURE WHICH, IF ANY OF MY ACTIONS, CORRECTED THE ISSUE. RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND IT'S SHOCKING TO ME THAT HYUNDAI HASN'T PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS OR ISSUED A RECALL. AN ONLINE TUCSON FORUM ENTITLED "DANGEROUS HORRIBLE DCT" HAS OVER 40,000 VIEWS AND SEVERAL HUNDRED POSTS REGARDING THIS MATTER. A YOUTUBE VIDEO (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=TCVTR_ZCYRS) PROVIDES AMPLE EVIDENCE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AND IS VERY CONSISTENT WITH MY EXPERIENCE (AND THAT OF MANY OTHERS IT WOULD SEEM. THIS SITUATION IS VERY, VERY DANGEROUS!!! I SINCERELY HOPE THE NHTSA LOOKS INTO THIS MATTER IMMEDIATELY. *TR
ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 20 MILES (SO WARMED UP), STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I WAS IN ECO MODE AT THE TIME, I SHIFTED IT TO MANUAL AND APPLY THE GAS NOTHING, SHIFTED TO SPORT STILL NOTHING, FINALLY TURNED OFF CAR WAITED, TURNED CAR BACK ON (WHILE TRAFFIC PILING UP) AND FINALLY SLOWLY STARTED TO MOVE. I HAD A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALERSHIP (AS I HAD LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON IT), AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM, THEY SAID NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE (WHICH I COME TO FIND WAS NOT A TRUE STATEMENT). THEY SAID UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE IT OR THE ENGINE TRIGGERS THE ALARM NOTHING THEY CAN DO. CAR CONTINUED TO ACT UP, LAST TIME WAS AFTER REMOTE STARTING IT AND TRIED TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT, WOULD NOT ENGAGE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY ADVISED STILL NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEING AN ISSUE, AND UNLESS IT TRIGGERS A WARNING NOTHING THEY CAN DO. UPON COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, I CALLED THE NATIONAL OFFICE TO LOG COMPLAINT, THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE MY CAR IN, AS THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX IT, THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO AND HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING SINCE. I TURNED IT IN BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT KNOWING WHEN THE CAR WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS. CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND MY PASSENGERS SAFETY.
AT SEEMINGLY RANDOM TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP COMPLETELY OUT OF GEAR AND THE ENGINE WILL JUST REV BUT NOT MOVE THE CAR. FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL GEAR AND JUST REVVING THE ENGINE. ALMOST GOT HIT FROM A CAR AS WE PULLED OUT TO TURN RIGHT FROM A STOPPED POSITION AT A STOP LIGHT, PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. JUST REVVED FOR ABOUT 5-6 SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY GOING INTO A GEAR AND MOVING THE CAR. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!! JUST WENT TO THE DEALER TO DAY TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THE CAR WAS "WORKING AS DESIGNED."
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED JUNE 1, 2016. FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY FROM A STOP. THE CAR REVS AND DOESN'T MOVE THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT TAKES OFF. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IT GOING TO HAPPEN. AND YOU NEVER KNOW HOW FAST IT IS GOING TO GO ONCE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY TIMES THAT I HAVE FELT LIKE I COULD HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE THE CAR "TAKES OFF" ON ITS OWN. I AM HESITANT TO TAKE OFF IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO ENGAGE CORRECTLY. THEY SAY IT IS THE DUEL CLUTCH CAUSING THE ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. 10/7/16 RECALL 16-01-038, DCT LOGIC UPDATE OPERATION 61C077R0, 16-01-057, 11/18/16 DCT UPDATE OPERATION 60C095RI, ALSO RESET ADATT VALVE, 2/10/17 TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE STILL HAVING SAME ISSUE, WAS TOLD "THAT'S HOW THE CAR DRIVES". I HAVE ALSO REPORTED THE SITUATION TO HYUNDAI, CASE #10008011 AND THEY TOOK MY INFORMATION BUT HAVEN'T GOTTEN BACK TO ME. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE THE CAR ON EXTENDED TRIPS BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR EVEN WORSE IF THIS SITUATION IS NOT RESOLVED OR THESE CARS AREN'T TAKEN OFF THE ROAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REPAIR SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V348000(STRUCTURE: BODY) WAS RECEIVED IN JUNE OF 2016. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AND DEVELOPS A "NO GO" SITUATION. THE ENGINE REVS, BUT TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE. IT MOSTLY OCCURS WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN, OR AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS. IT ALSO HAS A VIBRATION, AND JERKS AND BUCKS AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT. I HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC MANY TIMES. IT IS A VERY UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS CONDITION. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM. I CONTINUE TO SEEK A RESOLUTION THROUGH HYUNDAI.
PURCHASED NEW TUSCAN AND HAS 200 MILES ON IT. MY WIFE STARTED BACKING UP INTO OUR GARAGE AND WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING NOT TO DRIVE CAR DUE TO TRANSMISSION OVER HEADING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER. AFTER A DAY THEY ADVISED US NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE ECO MODE AS THE TRANNY HEATS UP. I'M CONCERN THAT MY WARRANTY WILL RUN OUT AND THIS WAS SUCH A PROBLEM , IT WOULDN'T GET FIXED. I'M SURE ALL THE TESTS FOR MILEAGE WAS DONE IN THIS ECO MODE. PLUS SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THE FACT WHEN BACKING UP, IF YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OF ACCELERATOR THE CAR ROLLS FORWARD. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET RAN OVER THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
THERE IS A DELAY BETWEEN WHEN YOU HIT THE ACCELERATOR AND WHEN THE CAR ACTUALLY ACCELERATES, WHICH CAUSES ME TO PRESS HARDER AND CAUSES THE CAR TO JERK FORWARD WHEN IT ACCELERATES. THERE IS ALSO A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE LEVEL OF JERKING WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS GEARS. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN ACCELERATING AT A GREEN LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE DELAY, I PRESS HARDER ON THE ACCELERATOR AND WHEN THE CAR ACTUALLY STARTS MOVING IT JERKS FORWARD AT AN UNWANTED SPEED AND I HAVE TO THEN BRAKE TO AVOID GOING FASTER THAN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. ALSO, SOMETIMES THE CAR SEEMS TO STALL WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THE RPMS REV UP TO 5000 RPMS, BUT THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. I HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEM ALMOST FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR. NOT ONLY IS THE CAR NOT ENJOYABLE TO DRIVE - TO SAY THE LEAST - IT ALSO MAY BE UNSAFE.
DUAL CLUTCH PROBLEMS LIKE OTHERS I WAS SIMPLY STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN I PRESSED THE GAS AND NO MOVEMENT, AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE CAR STALLED BECAUSE THE AC WAS ON HIGH, AND THEN I PRESSED AGAIN AND SEE THE TACK REVVING UP. I WAS SO SHOCKED I COULD NOT EVEN THINK TO USE THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND TRIED THE SHIFTER, THEN EVERY DRIVE MODE AND EVEN AWD TO NO AVAIL. I SHUT THE CAR OFF IN PARK AND RE STARTED STILL NO GO, IT WOULD BACK UP, LUCKILY MY SISTER WAS BEHIND ME, WE HAD JUST LEFT OUR MOTHERS 95TH BIRTHDAY. I GOT OUT STARTED TO PUSH AND NOTICED IT STILL IN DRIVE (GLAD IT DID NOT TAKE OFF WITH MY WIFE IN THERE) I QUICKLY PUT IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED RIGHT ON A DOWNHILL GRADE TO PARKING LOT, WHILE COASTING I PUT IN DRIVE AND REV THE ENGINE AND FEEL IT TRYING TO SLIGHTLY MOVE. THE HYUNDAI DEALER IS MILE AWAY SO I DECIDE TO TRY AND GET IT THERE EVEN THOUGH IT IS MEMORIAL DAY. WHILE REVVING IT TO GET THERE I DID GET THE TRANSMISSION TEMP HOT WARNING TO PULL OVER AND STOP, I DID NOT SINCE I WAS ALMOST THERE. I SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE CAR RUN BUT SHUT IT OFF, SOME SALES PEOPLE WHERE THERE BUT NO MECHANICS. IT WOULD NOT DO IT AGAIN FOR THE SALESMAN AFTER SITTING JUST A SHORT TIME. THIS HAPPENED 5/30/16 AT APPX. 2800 MILES 3 WEEKS LATER WITH THEM UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND 3100 MILES, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER HE PROCEEDS TO EXPLAIN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR CAR ACCORDING TO HYUNDAI IT IS ACTING AS IT WAS DESIGNED AND HYUNDAI NEEDS TO INFORM THE OWNERS THEY MUST DRIVE THIS CAR LIKE A STANDARD (HUH). IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC YOU CANNOT EDGE THE CAR FORWARD THIS IS ALLOWING THE CLUTCHES TO SLIP AND OVERHEAT BUT INSTEAD YOU MUST LEAVE A 1 TO 2 CAR LENGTH GAP THEN GET THE CAR UP TO 3MPH AND STOP AGAIN IF NEEDED . THIS IS VERY UNSAFE IN MY OPINION IT IS PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH EVERY STOP ANY DRIVER MAKES IN THIS CAR.

TOOK TO DEALER WHILE ON VACATION AND DISCOVERED A MELTED FUSE BOX COVER AND BURNT TOW HITCH/ECU WIRES WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF CORROSION. DEALERS COULD NO CONFIRM RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TOW HITCH HARNESS, CLAIMED IT WAS NOT FACTORY INSTALLED WHEN IT WAS FACTORY INSTALLED AND EVEN ON THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER. WE CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE EVERYDAY FOR OVER A WEEK BEGGING FOR HELP WITH NO CALL BACKS. ROADSIDE WOULD NOT COVER A TOW TO THE SELLING DEALER. ENDED UP DRIVING OURSELVES AN HOUR SOUTH TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAITS FOR A HYUNDAI ENGINEER TO FLY IN AND LOOK AT IT. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS WIRING HARNESS IN OTHER MODELS, THE DEALER WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART BECAUSE IT WAS DISCONTINUED. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS CURRENTLY OUT FOR OUR CAR. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND DID A DIAGNOSTIC ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE WERE NO ISSUES. CLEARLY THIS FUNCTION DOES NOT DO IT'S JOB IN REPORTING THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ME AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL 5 DAYS LATER TO LOOK AT IT. ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THIS ISSUE. MOST TIMES, WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS WHEN I AM AT A STOP, THIS CAR HESITATES FOR A MOMENT BEFORE IT FINALLY LURCHES FORWARD. FORTUNATELY I HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO PULL TO THE SIDE TO AVOID BEING HIT BY ON COMING TRAFFIC. THE FINAL INCIDENT I HAD BEFORE BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE (WHICH IS ANOTHER STORY) INVOLVED AN ATTEMPT TO ENTER A HIGHWAY AFTER SLOWING DOWN, WHERE ONCE AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE. ONCE AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE TO AVOID A COLLISION. THIS IS DEFINITELY IN MY MIND A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. MY CAR HAS NOW BEEN AT THE HYUNDAI DEALER FOR 60 DAYS "WAITING" FOR A TRANSMISSION TO ARRIVE WITH NO ARRIVAL DATE AVAILABLE OR ETA OF COMPLETION IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. A MONTH LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND KEPT FOR 40 DAYS BECAUSE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN ECO-MODE, WHICH WOULD HINDER THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE TO SAVE FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN AND REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V628000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25.
PROBLEM CONCERNS THE 7-SPEED DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. CLUTCH PLATES IN THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT ENGAGE IN DRIVE OR ANY FORWARD GEARS AFTER STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION, TOLL BOOTH, ETC. WHEN YOU APPLY POWER TO MOVE FORWARD THE CLUTCH PLATES INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE. EVEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN 1ST (VS DRIVE) DOES NOTHING. THE ONLY GEAR THAT WORKS WHEN THIS HAPPENS IS REVERSE. YOU'LL HAVE TO BACK YOUR WAY OUT OF THE INTERSECTION TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS! BE CAREFUL OF REAR-END COLLISIONS OR BEING SIDE-SWIPED AS FOLKS TRY TO GET AROUND YOU. TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR 5-10 MINUTES. RESTART THE VEHICLE AND PUT TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE. GRADUALLY INCREASE RPM TO ABOUT 4,000, TRANSMISSION WILL START TO ENGAGE. CRAWL FROM THE SHOULDER TO A PLACE OF SAFETY. TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES OR LONGER (IF POSSIBLE). MAKE SURE ALL SYSTEMS ARE OFF, EVEN INTERIOR LIGHTS (VERY IMPORTANT). ESSENTIALLY, THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE TRANSMISSION MUST HAVE TIME TO RESET COMPLETELY. RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSION WILL PROBABLY ENGAGE NORMALLY. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES, THEY TELL ME THEY SIMPLY CAN'T FIX IT, THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH HOW THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESIGNED. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH EAST ON INTERSTATE 10 IN LOUISIANA AROUND MILE MARKER 257.3 WHEN THE HOOD LATCH FAILED AND MY HOOD FLEW UP, SMASHING MY WINDSHIELD AND COMPLETELY BLOCKING MY FIELD OF VIEW. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME AS IT WAS 4:30 AM AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. IT APPEARS THAT BOTH THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY HOOD LATCHES HAVE FAILED, CAUSING THE HOOD TO FLY OPEN.
JUST HAPPENED TO ME YESTERDAY. 7000+ MILES ON MY TUCSON. I WAS WAITING TO GO STRAIGHT AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. REVVED HIGH BUT DIDN'T MOVE UNTIL I LET OFF THE GAS A LITTLE AND IT SEEMED LIKE THE CLUTCH FINALLY ENGAGED AND I WAS MOVING AT ABOUT 5 MPH WHILE STILL REACHING HIGH RPMS. CARS YIELDING TO MAKE A LEFT WERE WAITING FOR ME TO CONTINUE STRAIGHT. LUCKILY I WASN'T TRYING TO MAKE ANY RIGHT TURNS AT ANY INTERSECTION BECAUSE I'D IMAGINE A CAR COMING AT FULL SPEED COULD'VE HIT ME IF I DIDN'T PICK UP MY SPEED QUICK ENOUGH. AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET BACK TO MY WORK PARKING LOT (ALL THE STREETS WERE BUSY DURING THE LUNCH HOUR), I WAS AT A SLIGHT INCLINE AND THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE AGAIN AS IT SHOULD. I FLOORED THE PEDAL TO AVOID ROLLING BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER CAR AND AS SOON AS THE CLUTCH ENGAGED MY CAR PEELED OUT AND ACCELERATED ABRUPTLY. THE "TRANSMISSION TEMP. TOO HIGH" INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE BUT ONLY ONCE ON ONE ACCELERATION AT A RED LIGHT. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AS IT DROVE NORMAL AFTERWARDS. HYUNDAI DID THE ECU FLASH UPDATE (AS A TSB THAT I WASN'T AWARE OF) AT THE DEALERSHIP A FEW WEEKS LATER AND I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE ISSUE. WHEN IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY, IT WAS MUCH WORSE THAN THE FIRST TIME AS IT CONTINUOUSLY HAD ACCELERATION ISSUES. AFTER WORK, I DROVE VERY CAREFULLY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DROP THE CAR OFF. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I HOPE THEY CAN GET FIX ON THIS CAR. I LOVE THIS CAR AND IT FITS MY DAILY NEEDS PERFECTLY. HOPEFULLY, HYUNDAI CAN GET THIS ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF WHERE ALL SERVICE DEPARTMENTS ARE ON THE SAME PAGE AND GET A TSB SENT OUT TO ALL OWNERS WHO MAY OWN AFFECTED MODELS.

I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE 2016 TUCSON SINCE DAY ONE OF OUR 3 YEAR LEASE. ORIGINALLY I WAS GOING TO KEEP THE CAR AFTER THE LEASE, BUT THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN NOW. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MANY OTHERS WITH THE HESITATION FROM A STOP OR WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A TURN - NO POWER. I ORDERED THE TURBO MODEL THINKING IT WOULD NOT HAVE POWER PROBLEMS, BUT NOW AFTER 6 MONTHS, I REALIZE THE CAR IS JUST NOT VERY GOOD AT MOVING FROM A STOP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE CAR. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT OCCASIONALLY MANIFESTS IS THE ON-BOARD NAVIGATION SCREEN. PERIODICALLY IT WILL GO BLANK ON STARTING THE CAR AND WON'T COME ON AT ALL. THE ONLY CURE IS TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT. TRIED TO SAVE MONEY WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL, BUT GUESS I'LL GO BACK TO AN AMERICAN MADE CAR NEXT TIME. I WOULD CANCEL MY LEASE CONTRACT IF I THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLE.

IF YOU HAVE READ ANY OF THE 300 OR MORE COMPLAINTS IN THIS SECTION YOU WILL KNOW THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR AND IT IS NOT FIXED REGARDLESS OF THE RECALLS OR BULLETINS TO DATE. MOST LIKELY HYUNDAI ARE NOT REPORTING THEIR COMPLAINT LEVELS TO YOU AS THEY SHOULD WHICH KEEPS THE WOLVES FROM THE DOOR, BUT IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TIME READING ALL THESE COMPLAINTS TO UNDERSTAND THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS UNRESOLVED. THE TRANSMISSION IS ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED AND THE SOFTWARE ENGINEERS JUST CANNOT POSSIBLY PREDICT ALL GIVEN DRIVER OR DRIVING CONDITIONS. CONSEQUENTLY ON ALMOST EVERY TRIP IN THIS CAR THERE IS A LATE SHIFT, EARLY SHIFT OR HESITATION THAT WILL OCCUR, SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WHAT I EXPECT OF IT. I HAVE A SHORT UPHILL DRIVEWAY TO MY GARAGE, AND EVERY TIME I PARK ON THE DRIVEWAY I'M NOT SURE IF I'M GOING TO HIT THE GARAGE DOOR OR NOT. I HAVE JUST NO CONFIDENCE IN ITS CONTROL-ABILITY AT ALL. THE RECALL DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING NO MATTER WHAT HYUNDAI TELLS YOU AND NOW 3 YEARS INTO THE MODEL ITS STILL THE SAME. YOU CANNOT TURN A BLIND EYE TO THIS AND HOPE IT GOES AWAY. HYUNDAI IN THE MEANTIME HAS ABANDONED THIS TRANSMISSION FOR '19 ON THE TUCSON AND THEY WANT THE PROBLEM TO DISAPPEAR, BUT THIS IS THEIR WAY OF DEALING WITH IT. THE CAR OCCASIONALLY EXHIBITS THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIOR: 1.UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE IN A GEAR HIGHER THAN FIRST, WHICH THEN CAUSES THE MOTOR TO STALL AND LOSE POWER FOR ONE TO THREE SECONDS BEFORE RESUMING ACCELERATION. THE LOSS OF POWER PUTS THE CAR IN PERIL OF BEING REAR ENDED BY VEHICLES FOLLOWING BEHIND. 2.WHEN IN THIS STATE, MOVING THE GEARSHIFT LEVER LEFT TO ENTER MANUAL MODE FAILS ' THE TRANSMISSION STAYS IN DRIVE DESPITE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO ENGAGE MANUAL MODE. 3.BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION NEVER DOWNSHIFTS TO LOWER GEARS, THE CAR RUNS ROUGH AT SLOWER SPEEDS. 4.TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN RESTORES IT TO NORMAL OPERATION UNTIL THE ERRANT BEHAVIOR HAPPENS AGAIN ON RANDOM, UNPREDICTABLE OCCASIONS. THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A TURBO-CHARGER. A FACTORY RECALL TO FIX AN ACCELERATOR HESITATION IMPROVED, BUT DID NOT ELIMINATE, SAID HESITATION.
SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS HAD ON GOING ISSUES, WHEN PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE ITS EITHER NO MOVEMENT OR JERKS BACK AND FORTH LIKE ITS OUT OF GAS BUT WONT GO. THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING SINCE I LEASED IT NEW BUT THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME ITS FINE. THEY HAVE HAD IT MANY TIMES. IT HAS ALMOST GOTTEN ME HIT SEVERAL TIMES AS IT DOESN'T ALWAYS GO. I HAVE HAD TO PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND MOVE OUT OF TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS FROM A STOP TO GO AND WHILE IN TRAFFIC WHILE I AM GOING AND TURNING. I HAVE HAD ALL THE UPDATES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS FIXED BUT IT STILL CONTINUES TO DO THIS IN ALL SITUATIONS AT RANDOM TIMES.THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.
