1. My car will randomly not accelerate when the gas is being pressed. This has almost got me killed when making a left hand turn on more than 1 occasion now. The car also struggles with random shifting and power issues while going up steep hills at high speeds. 2. The front passenger side door and the rear drivers side passenger door just randomly stopped working with a week of each other. The rear wont open from the inside or outside. The front passenger side opens if you shake the handle back and forth multiple times (essentially trying to open it multiple times till it opens)
Front passenger door and rear passenger door will not open from the inside or outside. This is a major safety issue if someone has to get out in an emergency. I searched online and there are a ton of issues with the 2016 Hyundai Tucson in regards to the locking mechanisms in the doors.
Engine heating problems, electrical problems and now engine failure, the vehicle is no longer safe to drive. The vehicle is available for inspection. Other vehicles of same make, model, and year have been recalled for these issues however mine has not. I feel it has the same types of issues and safety concerns which should be recalled. The issues began with electrical problems inside the vehicle, random check engine lights coming on then off and other lights popping up in the dash board, the car was not accelerating properly, took the car in and they could not find a problem or fix it. The engine began heating and the speed of vehicle was also being affected. The car would randomly slow down quickly while on the highway at 70 MPH which happened a couple of times and was not safe at all, it could have caused a horrible accident. I could not accelerate enough to stay on the highway. That issue was fixed when we took the vehicle into the dealership to fix and should have been a recall as other cars where having the same issue. Hyundai should be held responsible for issues such as this that are affecting many other Hyundai Tucson drivers. Oil keeps depleting and the engine is burning through fast, also another concern and safety issue as that causes the engine to over heat and potentially cause a fire. A loud noise is coming from the vehicle, sounds like a helicopter it happened suddenly with no check engine light or warning. I'm concerned this car could catch fire, many Tucson's have had warning of catching fire. I don't park in our garage or even in the driveway for fear of that happening although they state ours is not supposed to be affected all these vehicle issues are telling me otherwise. Engine is now dead. This is unacceptable. Windows cannot be rolled down after multiple fixes that I paid for. Hyundai's poor production, manufacturing and quality control is unacceptable, please hold them responsible. Too much money has been spent on issues with no real results.
Failing Transmission including inability to engage reverse and slipping gears while shifting.
• temperature regulator stopped working •couldn’t use A/C in very hot months, couldn’t use heat in very cold months putting risk of freezing and overheating • independent service •No •No
The engine has continuously thrown itself into limp mode, unable to exceed 2,000 RPMS and 60mph. It has been in and out of the dealership for the past 6 months as they have zero idea of what’s going on. This all started a month after some software updates were done. Car had zero mechanical issues prior. Car has no audible knocking or engine failure symptoms. I’ve spent atleast $2,000 out of pocket to attempt to get the car fixed with no luck. When I get the car back everytime, it goes into limp mode at interstate speeds which is extremely dangerous.
UNKNOWN FULLY Engine knocking out of the blue and then died. Car went limp while driving down the road. Starts and is loudly knocking. Throws codes P0011 and P0326 Cannot drive vehicle. I have not notified hyundai yet. There were no warning lights. Car ran perfectly fine. No issues. Then the engine just died.
None of my windows will go down. Vehicle has less than 25,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle inadvertently decelerated with the accelerator pedal depressed. No warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
The windows of the 2016 Hyundai Tuscan go down and then the regulator went bad at that exact moment causing the windows to not go up, while driving on the highway. It is available for inspection. On a highway, I was going the speed limit between 65-70 MPH when I put one window down and attempted to put the window back up but I couldn’t. The pressure gets unbalanced and therefore impacts the drivers ears and passengers. I couldn’t even drive without the need to grab my ears because of the pressure. I had to pull over because the window wouldn’t go back up and the other windows wouldn’t go up after trying to balance the pressure in the car. I had to think quick and get on the side of the highway to figure out what happened. My ears wouldn’t stop popping and I couldn’t get back on the highway to get home. I had to drive slow off the following exit because the pain in my ears was so bad. This is a safety issue and isn’t the first time seeing this happen to people. The problem occurred out of nowhere, there were no warning signs and no indication this was going to happen. I confirmed my suspicions by going to a mechanic locally and sought out the issue being the regulator. This cannot be on consumers to repair. Out of all the issues that have been announced about this issue country wide, I’m surprised this has not been brought up before. This happened on 9/18/23 at night going home with my children. They had to cover their ears because of the pressure. I did not call the police or insurance company as I had not been in an accident. That doesn’t not mean this should be taken lightly. Had I not had thought of my kids in my car and thought quickly to pull over, we would have crashed.
Three out of four window regulators failed in my vehicle over the span of 3 months. The windows could not go down nor stay up. This became a safety hazard as I was unable to retain cool air in my vehicle during the summer months and driving at higher speeds on the highway was difficult due to the outside air siphoning into the vehicle from a small window opening. It also would have prevented me from utilizing my two front windows during an emergency situation. The failure of three regulators was unusual as my vehicle has less than 50K miles, was bought brand new in 2016, and has never been involved in an accident. It appears the regulators are faulty/defective.
Power window passenger side, stopped working, it is not the motor, you can hear motor running but window does not work.
2016 Hyundai Tucson ECO/FWD FRONT AND REAR LEFT WINDOW REGULATORS DON'T WORK. REAR DOORS LOCKS DON'T WORK FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. This is a safety concern because the doors locked when persons were inside and could not open the doors. The doors only open inserting a screwdriver through the door locks from inside. The windows of the left front and rear door don't open either. The car is 56,000 and Hyundai dealer says car is not covered by extended warranty. There are a plethora of complaints about malfunctioning of Hyundai Tucson and other models door locks and window regulator systems throughout the media. Since these represent huge safety concerns, Hyundai should issue a recall on these parts.
I bought a used 2016 Hyundai Tucson locally. Had the car 3 days, & both rear window actuators had to be replaced. Had the car a week, oil pump/pan seal failed. Then the rear seal fail. Then the boot on the right CV joint failed. The aAC started blowing hot on the passenger side, while cold on the driver side, but I DON’T have dual controls for the temperature & it’s full. Bluetooth randomly connects/disconnects. Gas gauge is inaccurate says 40 miles left & then suddenly your light is on & it says you’ve 20. REPEATEDLY replaced my brake light bulbs/front turn signal bulbs, several times within a few months of each other, often on the same side. Having my phone plugged into the charging ports, the phone often overheats to the point of being too hot to touch. Even placed out of the sun’s rays, & shaded. Must pull front passenger door 2x externally before it will open. RR passenger door you can pull all day/push from inside /outside, doesn’t matter, WON’T OPEN.The car is equipped with a CVT, which allows you to shift manually if needed. Then the transmission refused to shift automatically. No codes would show. Today car died on me in the middle of the road, while I was turning, check engine is on, & car refuses to start. I was almost hit by cross traffic from both directions. A few people drove around me, before two very nice young men pushed my car out of the middle of the road onto the shoulder of a county road, on a holiday weekend. If not for a Good Samaritan, I’d have been walking 6 miles home in the dark. I’m almost 50, & a woman, & diabetic. The car has plenty of oil & coolant. Tried putting the car in neutral, still won’t start. Air filter is clean. Battery is good. Says it has gas; 40 miles til empty. Car tries to turn over but won’t catch. Tachometer will barely register to the line above zero, & even giving it gas makes NO difference. Have been told it is the timing & transmission. Dealer won’t honor extended warranty. Car has “just” passed Hyundai warranty.
Recently the transmission was replaced because the original one was defective. After a couple of weeks, I had turned on the clean air control and it started blowing cold air, so I turned the heater control higher, and the air was even colder. I don't know why this started happening all of a sudden. I'm the type of driver that rarely turns on the heater or air conditioning, I always use the recycle air button that pulls from off the engine and from outside.
My car has an engine oil leak that has been happening for over a year now since I bought it. I have to change my oil every 2,000 miles because of the leak, when Ive been told this car should be changing its oil for every 7,000 miles. My passenger door no longer opens from the outside once my car is unlocked. I have to put my window down in order to get inside and this is a safety hazard.
The front passenger window failed to work. A week later drivers window failed to work. A week after repairing the two front windows the rear passenger side window failed to work. The failure of windows working is breaking of plastic regulators by faulty manufacturing parts. There should be a recall on these regulations. This is a safety issue!
I was driving from California to Cincinnati to relocate for an unpaid internship. I had a mechanic check my car before I left and was told there was a problem with the engine since it was consuming more oil than normal. I took it to a dealership in California who then said there was nothing wrong and roping off the oil for the drive was expected. About 150 miles before Chicago, my engine started to sound like a helicopter. I had it towed to a dealership in the chicago suburbs that told me I had internal engine failure and it was a known problem so would submit it to the warranty company for me since I am the second owner and technically out of warranty. The warranty company made me jump through hoops to provide documentation for them of every oil change I’ve ever had on the car, even from before I owned it, only to deny the claim due to being out of warranty. The first owner warranty would have still covered this incident as the car is only 7 years old and was just under 70k miles at the time. At time of incident, nothing on the dashboard lit up, not even the check engine light.
I already had a recall scheduled 4 days before this accident but 2 days before the engine failure I heard a ticking in the engine , didn’t think much of it because the engine was still running ( 93k miles on the car) so I was going to tell the dealer the problem when I took it for the recall fix appointment but on the way home my car instantly went from 70-30 in the middle of the highway I had the car towed to the Hyundai Dealer and they said rod had broke and said also something about the oil being dirty when I literally had the oil changed days before , but end result my 2nd owners warranty didn’t cover the vehicle even with rod failures being a recurring problem with my trim. They told me a new engine would be 13,500k while still owing 10k on the vechile has but me in a difficult situation
Manufacturer’s defect, all (4) windows quit operating. Hyundai dealer where vehicle was purchased did repair my driver window, however; shortly after that window was repaired, all other (3) windows quit working at the same time. One (1) window was in the down position. Hyundai of New Port Richey said they would not repair my windows, however; they did get the window up and suggested I purchase door stops to place in the window to keep it up….this also happened to the other rear window. I live in Florida and on August 17, 2023 I had to drive myself to Mease/Countryside Hospital, the heat index was 115 degrees, I had to get into my extremely hot vehicle. I was diagnosed with heat exhaustion. My bill was $ 23,000. I also have a grand baby I have to place in my very hot vehicle when I babysit. Three (3) windows do not function. On September 08, 2023, Hyundai of NPR Service Advisor gave me a ball park quote of $ 750.00, including labor to repair all three (3) windows….I then made a formal complaint to the complaint number I found in my vehicle manual: Case Number [XXX] they did not help and referred me to the General Manager of the dealership. Now the price to repair is $ 2,100.00. They will fix if I pay half! I have talked with other 2016 Hyundai Tucson owners who have run into the same problem. The manufacturer is at fault, the window parts are defective! Please help me, my health has been affected and I hate putting my Grandchild [XXX] in unheathy environment. Thank you for anything you can help me with. [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
3 of the doors on this vehicle are hard to open from the outside. The cable that runs from the outside door handle to the door latch mechanism is stretched. You must yank hard on the outside door handle several times before the door latch will release opening the door. Replacing the inner door cable system for the door latch corrects this problem. This is a very well known problem on the internet with many youtube video's showing how to replace this cable system. If this vehicle is involved in a crash it may become difficult to get the occupants out in a timely manner.
Engine consistently burns oil over federal regulations. This increased oil consumption has led to the catalytic converter to fail on the vehicle.
Car window regulator failed. window could not be rolled up and occupants subjected to outside weather conditions.
Engine began ticking and knocking and needs complete replacement confirmed by independent service center. No warning lights came on, regular maintenance has been performed, including oil changes at dealership.
1.6 Turbo engine failure while on freeway. Towed to mechanic, then informed needs new engine. This vehicle seized on the freeway
The right rear passenger door would not open from the inside or outside. The child safety lock was not engaged. If there had been an accident, fire or any other incident requiring a quick exit, exit through that door for my 96 year old mother, or any other passenger, would not be possible. I have heard of numerous complaints about this problem. I have not had an inspection of this problem by an outside source. There are no warning lights associated with this problem.
The passenger doors have an issue where the door CANNOT be opened from the inside (or outside). This seems to be a common problem with this car since it can be found very easily on the internet. I was traveling with visitors from overseas and sometimes I was unable to open the door from the outside for them. I was lucky that only one door was affected. I think this matter should be considered a very serious defect as persons needing to exit the vehicle in an emergency would be trapped. Please consider a recall for this issue since there are many Hyundai's with this problem. Thank you for your consideration. John Sommo, Jr.
Car window regulator failed. window could not be rolled up and occupants subjected to outside weather conditions.
The window regulators of this vehicle break down and stop working consistently. The plastic wheel on the inside of the door panel warps and breaks after a few months of use/being replaced. The temperatures this summer have been close to or over 100 degrees on a daily basis. This is what makes this a safety issue. Windows on the vehicle are stuck in a down position and cannot be rolled back up.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the window had become inoperable. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle be taken to a dealer for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Driving vehicle home from work a 7 mile commute driver front rotor and passenger rear rotors caught fire. Called fire department to ensure preventive measure of entire car catching fire. It appears both corners have fused pads to rotors creating high friction. No check engine lights or ABS light notifications on dash to warn of issue. Brakes and rotors replaced approximately 2 years ago and 25k miles with zero issues. Brake master reservoir is only low about 1 ounce of fluid with no signs of fluid leak on floorboard or firewall of vehicle. Abs module appears to have no fluid residue or leaks either. Have not checked fuses as of yet for failure.
The back passenger door will not open from the inside or the outside. Any back seat passenger safety is at risk because they will be unable to exit the car incase of an emergency.
Lock button on driver's side door handle fell out. Replaced at my cost.
On 10/24/22 I took my 2016 Hyundai Tucson into dealership Springfield Hyundai 754 Baltimore Pike Springfield PA 19064 for a faulty drivers side window. At that time they advised the issue with the window was 'striped gear' and replaced 'drivers window regulator' under the extended warranty I purchased when I bought the vehicle. At that same time there was also an issue in the left front door latch and it was replaced under 'warranty.' On 03/03/23 the right rear door also had a latch issue and was replaced at that time. About a week ago, my front passenger side window stopped working. It will not go up or down. I returned to the same dealership on 07/27/2023. I was advised that 'found right front window regulator and motor gears are splined. Both parts need to be replaced. Charge is $890.98.' The car's extended warranty has expired and I would need to pay for this out of my pocket. My concern here is what I consider a trend with my vehicle experiencing window issues and it has not even reached 100K miles - in addition to the door latch issues. By the way, I also have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra which has also had to have almost every door latch replaced. After this second window issue popped up, I became curious and searched the internet for 2016 Hyundai Tucson window issues. And to no surprise, there are multiple consumers with complaints reporting the same exact issue as I am, with their windows as well. Based on current trends and concerns with your car manufacturing, parts, missing basic anti-theft tools, cars being stolen, and a plethora of other issues I am confident this issue with my window is at fault of Hyundai's poor production, manufacturing, and quality control. Windows are an emergency exit. In the case of an accident, you need to be able to open the window to exit if it is the only viable option. You can become trapped inside your vehicle if the windows do not work. Window needs to be operable to combat exhaust that may be trapped inside vehicle.
Entering on the 65 mph interstate. Tucson would not accelerate past 60 mph. When it reached 60 mph it rapidly lost power and speed. Air conditioner was on also. When accelerating while at a stop light or making a turn vehicle hesitates to accelerate. All occurrences of this happening A/c was on.
I bought this car with 85,000 miles on it and at 94,000 miles i began hearing a knocking sound in the engine, even with completing the first two oil change intervals within my ownership. no check engine light or warning signs came on, even with the knock sensor update. the engines performance declined immensly, acting as if it was going to seize, and burning through 1qt oil/500 miles with no leaks. i had to continuously buy oil to keep the oil tank full, as no dealerships near me had any availability for 3 months from the time i called, to the time i got into an appointment. i took the vehicle to the dealership to have the engine replaced under class action warranty. the dealership took 4 months to replace the engine, the first 2 denying approval until it was inevitably approved. during those 2 months i was not provided with a loaner car, and due to my age i was unable to rent a car. i still had to continue to pay a car payment and insurance on a car that was undriveable. hyundai cooperate would go 5/14 days at a time without contacting me, even with me calling everyday to try and get an update. there was not any clarity, communication, or updates on the process. once my engine was replaced my catalytic converter had clogged due to the pervious oil burning issue prior to the engine replacement. hyundai told me the engine and exhaust system have nothing to do with each other, and the only thing they could do was have me replace the part with an oem part (a 5k replacement) and we could “file for reimbursement” but there’s no guarantee i would be reimbursed. i have been put out of thousands of dollars and the ability to drive my car for 6+ months due to hyundais negligence of this known issue. i can not get out of my loan as i owe on it more than the car is worth so i am stuck with a car i don’t feel safe in, and has continuous issues that compromise safety. this company needs to be seriously looked into and held accountable.
Oil consumption is very high and leads to no oil in car in a normal oil change timeframe then a failed engine comes No lights on to indicate oil is low Dealership denies oil is low
Excessive oil consumption NM, replaced catalytic converter twice. Losing power again. 122450 miles. Trans mission slipping, not shifting into higher gear. Gas mpg down to 19mpg. Unsafe on highway, loses speed and revs too high
The right driver side door does not open from the outside after the car has been locked then unlocked using the key fob. Removing the key manually from the fob does not get the door to open. The only way to open the door from the outside is to leave the vehicle unlocked or to open it from the inside after going through another door.
Vehicle began to consume large amounts of oil, needing oil added several times a week, every 200-300 miles. Vehicle is now needing engine replacement due to oil consumption related issues.
Back doors completely stop working. Not able to open the door from the inside or out
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the driver’s and passenger’s side front windows and the passenger’s side rear door window regulators were inoperable. The contact stated that the regulators were making a whining sound but failed to roll up or roll down. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
Both of my back doors will not open from the inside or out. Thanks to youtube I watched videos on how to open doors from the inside I had to pull latch and then stick screwdriver in there to lift cable up up door would open. This is very dangerous for doors to not open up, taking time to use a screwdriver to open them up is ridiculous, according to youtube the cable was made too short. I called the manufacturer and they gave me a price of 700-1200.00 to fix. I really think this should be a recall. If someone in back needs to get out in emergency situation then they are stuck.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under warranty and the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) was replaced; however, after the repair, while driving 62 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact stated that he drove the vehicle back to the dealer and was informed by the mechanic that there would be a cost for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP ON 7/05/23. I WENT TO DEALERSHIP TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND WHILE SERVICE ADVISOR WAS PULLING CAR OUT HE PUT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOWN AND IT WOULD NOT ROLL UP. I HAD THIS WINDOW DOWN 2 HOURS PRIOR AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH IT GOING UP. HYUNDAI OF ORANGE PARK SAID MOTOR AND WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY STRIPPED DUE TO ASSEMBLY BEING CHEAP PLASTIC. COST TO REPLACE AND GET WINDOW BACK UP IS $1400.00. HAD TO HAVE DEALERSHIP PUT UP WINDOW AND SHORE IT UP DUE TO IT BEING COST PROHIBITIVE TO REPAIR. SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE WINDOW WILL NOT GO DOWN IN CASE OF EMERGENCY IF DOOR MECHANISM FAILS AND DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. ON 1/24/23, HYUNDAI ST AUGUSTINE REPLACED DRIVE SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AT THE COST OF 737.27 DUE TO WINDOW NOT BEING ABLE TO GO DOWN. A SEPARATE COMPLAINT WAS FILED FOR THIS OCCURENCE.
Rear passenger door will not open from inside or outside
There are four safety concerns I have with the 2016 Hyundai Tuscon: 1.) The Check Oil light failed to illuminate indicating the need for more oil. 2.) The excessive oil consumption may have caused my catalytic converter to misfire and melt. 3.) The Check Engine light failed to illuminate when my catalytic converter misfired and melted. 4.) The Knock Sensor (if it is bad), which is installed on my vehicle, could fail and not warn me about any engine problems. On 7/3/23, my vehicle was having a difficult time accelerating up a mountain. My brother and I also heard a rattling noise, so my brother drove to a safe place. I had my vehicle towed to a local auto service garage, where I was told the catalytic converter melted due to misfiring and that I needed to replace it. On 7/5/23, I had my vehicle towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership, where they confirmed that the vehicle's catalytic converter was melted due to misfiring. After researching the causes catalytic converters misfiring, I read several complaints about the said vehicle's oil consumption and poor acceleration. I suspect there might be a connection to the catalytic converter misfiring and melting. Incidentally, I have had two other incidents where my vehicle lacked acceleration and started shaking. One occurred on 12/28/22, while I was entering an intersection. The other happened on 4/1/23, while I was attempting to pass another vehicle. All three incidents could've ended tragically. The Check Engine light did illuminate during two of the incidents, but not the incident that occurred on 7/3/23. Additionally, the catalytic converter was previously tested on 12/31/22 and it didn't have any bad codes. Sparkplugs were also replaced on 12/31/22, and a 3-Step Fuel System Cleaning was done on 6/12/23. The Check Oil light only illuminated once since I have owned the vehicle, but failed to illuminate when my oil was getting low in between oil changes. My SUV is still in service waiting for a Catalytic Converter.
The vehicle intermittently fails to accelerate without warning or notification. The throttle pedal goes to the floor without the engine stalling or rev'ing but also fails to propel the vehicle. This has occurred when crossing lanes of on-coming traffic placing the operator in an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS situation. In addition, the vehicle also intermittently fails to go in reverse. These issues are most prevailant in warmer summer temperatures. Neither of these issues directly triggered a MIL light. MIL lights did occur independent from the cited issues but would typically self clear. On one occasion I was able to get a scan of the vehicle with an active MIL that yielded a P1921 Gear 2 System Motor Thermal Damage. Shortly after the scan, the code cleared and MIL went off. The conditions were NOT able to be reproduced by the dealership. They were also not able to clearly diagnose what would cause the P1921 fault. Their recommendation was to replace the entire transmission. ALL of the issues experience closely align with a issues cited in a class action law suit despite the vehicle not having any open recalls or TSBs.
Similar to other owners my car has been burning oil at a higher-than-normal rate. Because of this, there has been a carbon build-up causing my engine to start misfiring and stop working while driving on the interstate.
I have 3 issues. #1. The transmission fails to shift only at certain times resulting in high RPM's on level road. #2. Engine has knocking noise at idle after having the engine knock sensor installed. #3 right, rear passenger door will not open from inside, or outside in spite of inside latch being manually opened or attempting to open with key fob activation.
