Brake lights keep failing after three months, have gone through multiple bulbs and harnesses. Right side will blow and then it switches to the left side.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that an independent mechanic had previously replaced the driver's and passenger's side rear brake light bulbs; however, the failure recurred with the passenger's side headlight burning out quickly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger's side headlight assembly needed to be replaced due to faulty wiring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
Drivers seat, seat belt at the lap tightens while driving to the point it is brusing hip bones. Even if someone loosens it, the seat belt automatically tightens up to the point it is dangerous in a collision because it can cause internal injuries or more severe injuries. The seat belt design is flawed in that it pulls extra belt from only from the top, so the bottom of the lap belt is fixed and that part is getting too tight and cannot be consistently comfortable or loose enough that it does not bruise or cause injuries to hips and laps. The issue has been ongoing and a major concern. I have contacted Hyundai who said it may or may not be under warranty but expected for me to pay for a visit to the shop to find out when this is a safety issue. Secondly the headlight system keeps failing. What I mean is the left driveres low beam/regular headlight continually burns out despite replacement with new bulbs. The passenger side lo beam/ regular headlight burned out recently and when replaced with the correct light bulb the regular setting for headlights no longer adequately lights the road despite bulbs being installed correctly and exactly as instructed. The lights now face down and are very low. We have changed out the bulbs with different brands and have found the same issue so it has to be an issue with the headlights themselves.
I HAVE TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULBS EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE BACK HOLDER HAD TO BE REPLACED WAS MELTED , I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT. HOW DO THINGS MELT FOR NO REASON. IVE SPENT ABOUT 300 TO 400. ON LIGHT BULBS. JUST REPLACED PIGTAIL ON THE FRONT LOW BEAM LIGHT. CRAZY ITS PAIN TO HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING BULBS. JUST DID THIS 3/15/21
THE VISIBILITY AT NIGHT IS IMPAIRED DUE TO THE HID HEADLIGHTS. IN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I SEE WHERE THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME THING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY. ADJUSTING THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT SEEM TO BE AN IMPROVEMENT. THE OTHER NIGHT, MY LIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY DARK WHILE DRIVING. THIS DEFINITELY DESERVES A NOTIFICATION/RECALL TO THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE THERE IS A DEADLY ACCIDENT. PLEASE DO THE RESPONSIBLE THING IN ORDER TO PREVENT IMPAIRING OR LOSING A LIFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
HEADLIGHTS PROJECT A WEIRD DARK SHADOW ON BOTH SIDES AND IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE IN FRONT OF ME JUST OFF CENTER ON BOTH SIDES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO NOT FEEL SAFE ENOUGH TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME
ALL HYUNDAI LIMITED MODEL TRIMS HAVE POOR BULB HOUSINGS FOR THEIR HEADLIGHTS. THERE IS A NOTCH IN THE HOUSING THAT COVERS THE TOP PART OF THE BULB AND CASTS A LARGE SHADOW IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, MAKING DRIVING AT NIGHT A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. I'VE ALREADY CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT HYUNDAI HAS YET TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'VE ATTACHED TWO PHOTOS SHOWING THE SHADOW/NOTCH ON EACH HEADLIGHT. KEEP IN MIND MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 295 MILES, AND I JUST BOUGHT IT A COUPLE DAYS AGO. MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE SHE'S AFRAID SHE WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE SOMETHING IN FRONT OF HER. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED BECAUSE IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL A SERIOUS INJURY IS CAUSED AS A RESULT OF POOR LIGHTING AND NEGLIGENCE ON PART OF THE AUTO MANUFACTURER.
THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE AT LOW AND HIGH BEAM CASTS A SHADOW ABOUT 100 FEET IN FRONT. THIS CAUSES A SEVERE BLIND SPOT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. IN RAINY WEATHER IT IS DOUBLY HARD TO SEE WHAT ISSUES FACE THE DRIVER. IN FACT I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE WALKING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN RAINY WEATHER BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT VISIBLE UNTIL THEY WERE INSIDE THE 100 FEET. THE LIGHTING SYSTEM MUST BE REPLACED AS THE DEALER HAS ADVISED THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENTS THEY CAN MAKE TO OVERCOME THIS ISSUE. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER ABOUT IT ACCORDING TO HIM.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
