This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

OEM windshield, vehicle has no accidents or damage. Windshield seal failed. Can push the windshield away from the frame and has water intrusion. Unknown how much of the seal and dash electronics are compromised. Safety concern catastrophic failure of a windshield while driving or loss of electronics resulting in loss of driver control. No picture of seal failure available as it requires destructive testing.
Lost power steering during heavy rain. Power steering rack in 2018 Jaguar Fpace has crack that has caused water ingest.
I believe my vehicle has a serious safety defect related to the engine cooling system that creates a fire and safety hazard. Specifically, coolant appears to leak from the cooling-elbow near the turbocharger, following a belt failure that lead to engine overheating and elbow pipe burst leading to coolant leaking on to the turbo heatshield or exhaust components. There was serious smoking when the issue happened and i shutdown on the highway as an emergency which most likely would have lead to an engine-bay fire or complete vehicle fire.. This failure mode and fire risk concern mirrors the defect described in NHTSA Recall 23V-221 (Loose or damaged coolant elbow leading to coolant leak on turbo/heatshield, risk of fire) for different JLR vehicles but ignores the F-pace model which I believe faces similar concern. The issue occurred on 9/2/2025 at approximately 9.30 AM while driving from US23 ramp to M-14, the engine suddenly reported charging system fault (but actually the serpentine belt had failed), then in a couple of minutes the engine started overheating and i pulled over for emergency. The coolant started spraying over engine bay from two locations and suddenly observed smoke from engine bay. After getting my car towed back to a workshop, I removed a heat shield and took photos, which clearly show coolant residue near the coolant outlet / elbow hose connection above the turbo. The leak appears to originate at the junction of the coolant elbow — matching the failure mode described in the 23V-221 recall documents. I have not (yet) received any recall notice that covers my vehicle for this issue (checked via NHTSA recall search tool on safercar.gov). Because the leak is directly above the turbo / exhaust manifold heatshield, there is a significant risk of fire, especially once the engine warms up and turbo area gets hot. A fire in the engine bay can quickly spread, endangering vehicle occupants and other road users.
While driving, the engine suddenly shut off without warning. The first incident occurred in May 2025 and stalled twice in late August 2025. Each time I lost motive power and steering/brake assist dropped, I coasted to a safe spot, turned the ignition off and back on, and the vehicle restarted. In May, a shop retrieved P0087 – fuel rail/system pressure too low. They could not reproduce the problem, added DEF, and cleared the code. The issue has recurred. No crash or injuries. The Check Engine light was on in May; no other warnings were noted at the time of the stall. The vehicle is available for inspection and is being towed to a diesel specialist for diagnosis. Suspected area is the fuel delivery system (low rail pressure). Odometer: 47,500.
The contact owns a 2018 Jaguar E-Pace. The contact stated that upon routine tire service, there was an abnormal fuel odor entering the cabin of the vehicle through the air vents. The contact was informed by the mechanic at a local Firestone that the fuel line was leaking while the vehicle was running. No warning light was illuminated. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
2018 Jaguar F-pace power steering rack failure: Driving in heavy rain [XXX] on [XXX] entered a flooded roadway. The entire 4 lane roadway was flooded at the underpass. Thousands of cars in all 4 lanes passed through the flooded roadway at 10 MPH. The highway was backed up for miles. The water did not appear to be too deep (3 to 4 inches deep); however, water entered the steering rack and shorted out the electric steering and power steering failed, and warning came on that said “OK to drive with caution Power steering assistance reduced”, we then pulled off the road to see what had happened. My wife who was driving at the time could barely control the car as we exited the highway. Steering was difficult but I managed to make it home and parked the car. Since then, we brought it to our mechanic and he confirmed that electric power steering rack has failed due to water ingress and he could not do the repair. He provided a picture of the crack in the corroded aluminum casting. The car has not been repair so part is available for inspection at this time. After doing an internet search for similar problems we found that this is a known safety issue on F-Pace and Land Rover Valar since they share the same steering rack. There have been hundreds of these failures in US and Great Briton. There is a facebook page dedicated to this failure with over 1,300 members, all of which have reported this failure. “JLR Power Steering Alliance Group (Jaguar F-Pace & Range Rover Velar)” The car is not safe to drive, I had it towed to dealer. The steering is so heavy it would be very difficult to respond to and emergency with out power steering, which can fail at any moment if it gets wet. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The car shifts into neutral on the freeway.
I was driving my car and all of a sudden my steering wheel became extremely hard to turn, and a warning appeared on my dash saying “power steering assistance reduced”. It took all my strength to get around the next turn. Luckily I was near my home and was only a few turns from my driveway. My husband looked under my car and the steering rack was cracked. After investigating online, it appears to be a common defect among Jaguar F Paces, and the cracks occur in the same two places, one of which matched the crack on my vehicle.
The cooling fan runs at extremely high speed for no reason and makes an extremely loud noise. There have been similar multiple complaints on jaguar e pace forums
The timing chain is the issues and yes it is available to inspect upon request. My safety has been put at risk because this snap at anytime. My car stalls and has really rough idling. Yes I have reported this rattle noise but I was told nothing was found, the noise got worse with the idling and I was told my car was out of warranty and the timing chain was breaking down.It started with the misfire, then rough idling and now the engine light. The rattling started and was first reported at 50k miles.
The first issue is the camshaft issue that had a recall on there and i was unaware because there wasn’t any notification sent by Jaguar or the nhtsa. When starting the vehicle it’s very hesitant and has a rough start & idle. Even once the vehicle starts it continuously has a rough feel as if the vehicle is putting or about to cut off. 2. The vehicle constantly loses power and sometimes won’t start. The battery has been replaced and the wires have been tested. When driving the entire vehicle starts to intermittently lose power and everything flickers on and off the entire time. 3. When searching my vehicle information it indicates there’s no open recalls however according to Jaguar corporate office there is an open recall but it’s not displayed on any search because the nhtsa hasn’t notified them.
Backup camera and all parking sensors freeze when the car has been turned on and off in a short period of time and put into reverse. This happens about once a week. When I get in my car, put it in reverse after a short stop, the backup camera will freeze the image. The sensors will stop working, and the cross traffic detection will not work during this freeze. It lasts for about 30 seconds. Has not been confirmed by a dealer or service. No inspection done. No warning lamps or messages.
Vehicle will lose power intermittently while driving and sometimes when you try to start the vehicle it will be come dead. I’ve replaced the battery and the problem still occurs. A few nights in a row the alarm system would just beep for no reason . I changed the key fob battery and that didn’t help either. The engine makes a weird noise and constantly jerks.also the engine shakes extremely bad even though I’ve had a tune up, I’ve called Jaguar consumer services to find out about past recall details and was advised that information wasn’t available to them if the services were actually completed or just cleared out & I’d have to call the service center that completed the recall/repairs. It’s impossible to do so as I’m not the original owner. Jaguar advised they couldn’t help and this is very common for the power train in these vehicles to malfunction however the manufacturer isn’t being accountable. Also when I checked the recalls on NHTSA & Jaguar websites It indicated there’s no recalls, however when I called Jaguar consumer services I was advised of 2 recalls/campaigns that relate to the engine light. I’ve had a similar issue with a Range Rover that we checked for recalls and they were cleared from under the vin but the service wasn’t performed and when we experienced the issue we were charged on 2 occasions and once I discover the issue previously had a recall they refunded one of the issues, they’re all under the same umbrella and truly need to be investigated. I hope more people learn about reporting these issues to the nhtsa and other outlets instead of just reporting to Jaguar because they truly only want to get money out of the situation and don’t want to be accountable for the defects of there vehicles.
My vehicle was serviced 05/03/24, after the 60,000 whatever service, The Sewell dealership of N. Austin, literally has a video of them pointing out where there was an oil leak, they needed to fix, so of course, I agreed to them fixing the leak. Fast forward to [XXX], during which, I was driving, had no indication of any issues, then saw white/gray/smoke, pulled over, & then my car wouldn't start. The following conversation was exchanged from myself & someone named Ben, from the Sewell dealership in North Austin: [From Ben: I am not as familiar from the surface, but everything was explained in the video from the technician. The failed component is the bearing of the turbocharger which caused a major oil leak. This oil leak was the smoke you were seeing from the exhaust. We know for sure that the turbocharger will need to be replaced. The engine has a high likelihood of needing replacement as it was oil starved due to the major oil leak from the turbocharger. There is metal in the oil from inside the engine indicating internal failure from not having enough oil. From Me: which makes no sense, having just had all these things checked, back in May, with no indication of any leaks of anything other than what was shown.] ANDDD, which was supposedly fixed. I have the video footage of the technician doing a walk through in May of 2024, pointing out an oil leak, which I paid to have fix, but was later told I had no oil in my engine in July of 2024, without any warning. The car has not been drivable since, because I was quoted over 50,000 for the Turbo & Engine Replacement. I had 3 surgeries since December [XXX], which is why it's taken forever for me to do anything. However, I am STILL making payments on this vehicle. I read Jaguar Forums, & noticed I'm not the only person who has dealt with this EXACT issue, following Full Service approx 60 days prior. The contact owns a 2018 Jaguar E-Pace. The contact stated that while the vehicle was turned off, the front hazard lights were still blinking. The contact's wife opened the driver's door and there was smoke inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the smoke odor was coming from the cabin of the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle, and the battery was disconnected. The contact stated that the A/C unit, and the heated front seats failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the integrated climate control module and switch pack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,900.
For a few years there has been many repairs and complaints about the power steering in the Jaguar F Pace. I was driving home Friday in the rain when out of nowhere the power steering quit working and I almost wrecked in a turn. I looked at the fluid which is full and check to see any loose wires and see nothing. I tried to call Jaguar Customer service and they told me to reach out to the service department then call back if there is any issues. Right now I am down without a car and I don’t feel like I should be at fault and pay for a failed power steering system. In the turn the car said Power Steering Assistance Reduced. There are reports of the failed steering in thousands of their cars from the years of 2017 to 2020. Some say the box starts to designate and some say it allows water to get in and damages the electrical components. I know that the milage on my vehicle is 95,000 but highway driving doesn’t cause that to happen.
ADDITIONAL INFO FOR PRIOR SUBMISSION Link to forum where others share similar issue with their vehicles: [XXX] . Appears to be a growing issue. Jaguar has the part on out of stock status and requires U.S. dealers to order from the UK with no confirmed eta (told could take 5-6 weeks). As you can see in the picture I was given of the issue, I cannot drive this vehicle and Jaguar refuses to provide any support or contribution to remedy the issue. This includes not providing a replacement vehicle while my vehicle sits at the dealership. My standard driving conditions with this vehicle are city streets and general highway - no off-road conditions. Also no towing by the vehicle (it has never had a hitch installed). Please investigate how such an important component to maintain safe driving conditions is allowed to go unresolved, and ultimately be pushed on the consumer as their problem. Can’t imagine what would happen if and when one of these truly breaks while someone is driving. I was informed of the issue by the dealer after a multipoint inspection. My vehicle was one of three there at the same time with the same issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2018 Jaguar F-Pace. The contact stated that while receiving repairs on the engine, the dealer became aware of a crack on the rear differential. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and declined to cover the costs for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
The Check Engine light hasn't worked on our Jaguar F Pace since we bought it despite taking it multiple times to multiple dealerships (due to moving to three different cities). We were told by each dealership that it wasn't a issue unless it was flashing. The final straw was in Feb 2024 we were driving on a busy road (A1A) at 55 miles per hour and the car started jerking, making loud noises and then stopped. We had to have it towed and find transportation home. Thank goodness my husband was driving because I'm not sure how I would have handled it. The Fields Jaguar Land Rover of Jacksonville says that we must pay $20,000 to repair the entire engine and Jaguar North America won't do anything to help. Please help us and make sure this issue doesn't happen to anyone else. Defective indicator light like this is a major safety issue.
