The back passenger air bag in the door exploded and park brake fault.

The contact owns a 2005 Jaguar S-Type. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of a fuel odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the fuel tank, fuel pump, flange, retaining ring, pipe feed, fuel tank straps, heat shield, fuel hose, heat sleeve, evaporator pipe, electronic control unit, fuel tank harness, cable tie, and cabin overlay wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
My wife's 2005 Jaguar S-Type R leaks fuel, and is worst after refilling the tank. The car frequently loses all engine power while driving with no warning. It frequently refuses to restart, and then I have to have it towed sometimes at great distances from home at a cost of over $700 to my repair shop in Virginia. My wife is now too afraid to drive the car because of the gas fumes, fear of a fire, and sudden engine failure. My service technician at Mountain Valley Motors believes the problem has to do with a faulty Jaguar fuel system.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING PART NUMBER: XR850468 (CARBON CANISTER ASSEMBLY) TO BE REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V418000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE OWNER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.

I TOOK MY CAR IN AT THE END OF APRIL/EARLY MAY SOMETIME FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BE REPAIRED , I TOOK MY CAR INTO JAGUAR AS I NORMALLY TO GET THIS WORK DONE. I GOT MY CAR BETWEEN MAY 8TH AND 9TH BECAUSE I DROVE IT TO MY GRADUATION MAY 10TH. LITERALLY 7 DAYS MAY 16TH AFTER IT WAS FIXED IT WOULD NOT START AND ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED ON DASH BOARD THAT I'VE NEVER SEEN. I CALLED THE SHOP AND THEY STATED TOO HAVE IT TOWED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET IT IN UNTIL JUNE BUT HAVE IT TOWED SO I DID. ON JULY 16TH THE RED TOLD ME THIS "WE ARE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION SLEEVE THAT WE REPLACED LAST TIME. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A SEPARATE ISSUE OF FLUID LEAKING. MY TECH IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT OUR OPTIONS. IT STARTS AND RUNS GOOD NOW BUT TRANSMISSION FLUID WILL EVENTUALLY LEAK DOWN AND CAUSE THE CONNECTOR TO GO BAD. THE VEHICLE SPED OVER A CURB AND CRASHED INTO A WOODEN DECK. THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PASSENGER WAS INJURED, TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE, TREATED, AND DISCHARGED THE SAME DAY. THE POLICE CONFISCATED THE LICENSE OF THE DRIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,700.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JAGUAR HOUSTON NORTH (18205 INTERSTATE 45 N, HOUSTON, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FUEL LEAK, AND THE FUEL RETAINERS AND A GASKET NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE AND WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
MY VECHILE EMERGENCY BRAKE SELF ENGAGED WITHOUT SELECTING EMERGENCY CONTROL. THEREFORE MY VECHILE WHEELS LOCKED UNABLE TO MOVED MAYBE FEW FEET STOPPED UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACKUP. DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN DETROIT MICHIGAN. THIS OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY INDICTATION BRAKE ENGAGED WHEELS LOCKED. GAS TANK IS LEAKING THE SAY IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THERE RECALL
GAS LEAKS OUT OF TANK WHEN TANK IS FILLED TO CAPACITY. STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE.
WHEN FUEL TANK IS FULL,STRONG GAS ODORS ARE PRESENT AS WELL AS GAS LEAKAGE FROM OUTSIDE OF GAS TANK ONTO PAVEMENT. GAS EVIDENCE ON GROUND WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED.

2005 JAGUAR S-TYPE R FUEL TANK RECALL FUEL TANK HAS LARGE EVAP LEAK, HAD TO REMOVE FUEL TANK TO FIND WHERE THE LEAK WAS DURING A SMOKE TEST. FUEL TANK HAD BEEN REPLACED DURING A RECALL IN 2007, NOW THAT TANK HAS A LARGE CRACK ON ONE OF THE FUEL MODULES ON TOP OF TANK THE NOT ONLY LEAKS FUEL/VAPORS BUT ALSO ILLUMINATES "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT". JAGUAR SAYS THEY HAVE COMPLIED WITH THE RECALL AND IS NOW A REPLACEMENT AT OWNERS EXPENSE EVEN THOUGH JAGUAR ISSUED TECHNICAL BULLETIN R176NAS5 ON AUG. 18, 2014 THAT RE-IDENTIFIES THIS ISSUE AND ASSIGNS A NEW FUEL TANK CONVERSION KIT TO FIX THE BAND-AID THAT WAS DONE IN 2007. THIS FAULT CAUSES STATE INSPECTION FAILURE THUS UNABLE TO REGISTER VEHICLE RENDERING VEHICLE USELESS NOT TO MENTION UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH A FUEL/VAPOR LEAK CONSTANTLY PRESENT. ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE TANKS USED DURING THE INITIAL RECALL 06V4180000 DATE 10-31-2006 SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED AS THIS CONVERSION KIT IS QUITE COSTLY.

WHILE TRAVELING ALONG A BUSY HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CAR ENGINE SHUT DOWN. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE ENGINE TO START BACK UP. WE EVENTUALLY NEEDED POLICE ASSISTANCE TO MOVE THE CAR FROM THE FAR LEFT OF THE HIGHWAY TO THE FAR RIGHT (SHOULDER). THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PUCHASED IT 9 DAYS PRIOR. THERE WAS GAS IN THE CAR AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON.THE CAR STOPPED TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN IT UP WITH RIGHT REAR IN A LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
SAME ISSUE AS CAMPAIGN 06V418000. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND DEALER HAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK SEALS ARE LEAKING VAPOR. DEALER ALSO INFORMED THAT THE CAUSE MAY BE A WARPED FUEL TANK AND THAT JAGUAR IS NO LONGER MANUFACTURING THIS PART.

INITIALLY WHILE BEING PARKED IN DEC. 2014, I STARTED THE CAR BUT COULD NOT RELEASE THE ELECTRONIC PARK BRAKE. I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO A MECHANIC 3 MILES AWAY WITH THE BRAKES SMOKING. THEY SAW A PROCEDURE FOR RESETTING THE PARK BRAKE AND GAVE ME A COPY. ALL WAS WELL FOR 2 MOS. BUT DRIVING ALONG ABOUT 30MPH THEY SUDDENLY LOCKED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND FORTUNATELY HAD BEEN CARRYING TOOLS FOR THIS AND PERFORMED THE PROCEDURE. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN 2015 AFTER I WAS STOPPED WITH ENGINE OFF. I CALLED JAGUAR AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL, BUT I HAVE BEEN AFRAID TO DRIVE IT LONG DISTANCES AND DO NOT WANT TO SELL IT AS IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. JAGUAR OFFERED TO LOOK AT IT BUT I KNOW ALL ABOUT THAT AND WHAT IT COULD COST, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT DOES NOT ALWAYS HAPPEN. WHEN I FILL UP MY TANK WITH GAS I SMELL THE FUMES IN MY CAR AND IT LEFT TWO PUDDLES.

WHEN I TOUCHED THE COVER FOR THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER IT WAS HOT. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES MY CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE, AND A SMALL FIRE BEGAN TO BURN IN THE TOP CENTER CONSOLE CONTAINING THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER. I OPENED ALL THE DOOR WINDOWS, AND ALSO THE SUNROOF TO CLEAR THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR OF THE SMOKE. I MANAGED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BY TAKING A SIP OF WATER FROM A BOTTLE, AND SPITTING IT ON THE FIRE! *TR
