VERY HARD SHIFTING IN LOWER GEARS. THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGES FORWARD AT TIMES WHEN DOWN SHIFTING AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN SHIFTING FROM THIRD TO SECOND, SECOND TO FIRST. THE VEHICLE WILL ALSO HAVE VERY JERKY UP SHIFTS FROM TAKE OFF TO SECOND GEAR AND SOMETIMES FEELS A DELAY IN SHIFTING INTO GEAR CAUSING A REVVING SENSATION. WE HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AT LEAST THREE TIMES AND ONLY SOFTWARE UPDATES HAVE BEEN DONE TO VEHICLE. WE WERE TOLD THE TRANSMISSION IS KNOWN FOR THAT AND IS 'AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION THAT CHANGES TO THE DRIVER'. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AT ALL. WE HAVE ALREADY SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS JUST FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES TO BE DONE BY DEALER AND LEFT THE CAR FOR A WEEK WHILE THE DEALER TALKED WITH JEEP ABOUT FINDING A SOLUTION OR REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER ONE WEEK WE RECEIVED THE CAR BACK WHEN NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DIEHL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ROBINSON (6181 STEUBENVILLE PIKE, MCKEES ROCKS, PA 15136, (412)722-1800. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V343000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NECESSARY TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
While driving and coming to a stop, the transmission does not fully downshift automatically. Usually will only downshift automatically to 3rd gear. I don't realize the improper downshift until I accelerate and realize I am not in 1st gear. I've learned to perform a manual downshift after coming to a stop. Also, when in 1st gear and begin a slow start, to where the vehicle then shifts into 2nd gear, and then cruise at a constant speed that does not require shifting into 3rd, but then when I do begin to accelerate, there is a loud "clunk" that sounds and feels as if I was rear ended.
I have reported this before and I am reporting once again as it is a very serious safety hazard. Vehicle: 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited Component/System: Power Train – Transfer Case / Drivetrain (4WD/AWD System) I am submitting this complaint to report a recurring and potentially hazardous malfunction involving the transfer case on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited. The vehicle exhibits multiple symptoms consistent with transfer case failure, including intermittent grinding and clunking noises from the drivetrain, jerking and binding during acceleration or low-speed turns, and difficulty engaging or maintaining 4WD/AWD modes. The vehicle has also displayed dashboard warnings such as “Service 4WD” and “4WD Temporarily Unavailable.” At times, vibration can be felt through the floorboard at highway speeds, and the vehicle has intermittently lost power to either the front or rear wheels. These issues pose a significant safety concern. The inconsistent torque delivery causes unpredictable handling, including sudden hesitation, surging, or traction loss during normal driving. The vehicle has also exhibited momentary drivetrain binding that feels similar to braking or wheel lockup, creating a risk of loss of control—particularly when turning, merging, or driving in adverse weather. There is concern that the transfer case could suffer sudden internal failure, potentially resulting in immediate power loss, immobilization, or inability to maneuver out of traffic. Given the frequency of transfer case and power transfer unit failures reported by other Jeep Cherokee owners of this model year, I believe this issue may represent a broader safety defect. The malfunction directly affects vehicle stability, traction control function, and the ability to safely accelerate or maintain speed. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter for a safety recall as soon as possible due to the potential for loss of vehicle control and the risk of a crash or injury.
AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE STALLS OR SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. NO WARNING LIGHT OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO LIMITED BRAKING AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS AFTER RESEARCHING IT. THERE NEED TO BE A RECALL.
HATCHBACK WILL NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY WHEN PUSHING THE BUTTON(S) NOR WILL IT OPEN MANUALLY WEN STATIONARY AND IN PARK.
ENGINE OIL COOLER DRIPPING OIL ONTO EXHAUST CREATING (POSSIBLE) FIRE HAZARD. THE LOCAL DEALER HAD THIS PART IN STOCK. I KNOW OTHER OWNERS OF 2014 CHEROKEES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM.
OIL WAS LEAKING, JEEP WAS TAKEN TO KLEYN AUTO, KLEYN AUTO TOLD ME THE OIL ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED, DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL LEAKING. A NEW OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS INSTALLED. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $631.01
CAR SHUT OFF AND WON'T COME BACK ON. DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE KEY IGNITION AND STILL NOT WORKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACTED STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AN ERRORS MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED WHICH STATED TO SHIFT INTO PARK THEN SHIFT TO DESIRED GEAR. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER AND ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE CONTACT STATED THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURES. GALEANA CHRYSLER JEEP KIA 180 GREYSTONE BLVD, COLUMBIA, SC 29210, (260)434-4800, WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE RED AND DASH SCREEN IS LOCKED AND SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER. VEHICLE STILL SEEMS TO DRIVE NORMAL SO FAR BUT DASH SCREEN IS LOCKED.
FEBRUARY 18, 2020, WHILE DRIVING I-95 N, DOING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH OUR VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, IT BEEPED, AND SIGNALED "SERVICE POWER STEERING". IMMEDIATELY OUR VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JOLTED. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE CAR TO THE SIDE TO THE ROAD. WE SHUT THE CAR OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON AND REGAINED POWER STEERING. TALK ABOUT A SCARY EXPERIENCE, WE WOULD LOSE AND REGAIN POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF CURVES, ABRUPTLY JOLTING AND SHAKING THE STEERING WHEEL ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. WE MADE IT TO THE DEALER AND LEFT IT FOR DIAGNOSTIC. FEBRUARY 22,2020, WE LEFT THE DEALERSHIP HAVING OUR ISSUE "REPAIRED. $3700 DOLLARS LATER, WE FOUND OUT THAT OUR GEARBOX RACK AND PINION HAD GONE BAD CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOTE, THE CHEROKEE BARELY HAS 37K MILES ON IT! IN FEAR OF LOOSING POWER STEERING AGAIN WE SERVICED THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS 100% OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE AS CHRYSLER FIAT AS WELL AS THE JEEP DEALERSHIP DECLINED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. FEBRUARY 26,2020, JUST 4 DAYS AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE "FIXED" WE LOST POWER STEERING. IT WAS OUR WORST NIGHTMARE ALL OF AGAIN. WE CALLED JEEP, AND WITH LACK OF CONCERN, THEY ADVISED US TO TAKE IT BACK TO SERVICE AS IT COULD NOW BE A DEFECTIVE PART INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. FEBRUARY 28, 2020, IS OUR SECOND SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH JEEP, HOWEVER WE ARE AFRAID THIS IS A DEEPER ISSUE THAN MEETS THE EYE. WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE AND FEAR FOR CATASTROPHIC INJURY FOR US AND OTHERS. WE FEAR FOR OTHERS THAT MIGHT POTENTIALLY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR CHEROKEES. FOR ANYONE THAT IS READING THIS, HAVE YOUR CAR LOOKED AT, YOU MIGHT NOT BE AS LUCKY AS WE WERE. GOD FORBID WE WERE ON A SWITCHBACK ROAD AND LOST POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHARP TURN. WE WOULD HAVE GONE OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. JEEP NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE ANYONE GETS SERIOUSLY INURED.
WHEN I ACCELERATE ON THE STREET THE CAR JERKS AND VIBRATES ALSO WHEN I BRAKE IT JERKS AND VIBRATES.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN ON FEBRUARY 14, 2020 FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO HOPEFULLY FIX THE HESITATION I EXPERIENCE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT JOLT. THE UPDATE HAS MADE THIS ISSUE WORSE, SO BAD THAT I HAVE NECK PAIN, SCARED TO PULL OUT WITH TRAFFIC, HAS CAUSED MY WHEELS TO PEEL OUT MULTIPLE TIMES, AND HAVE A HARD TIME ACCELERATING WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR MERGING ON THE FREEWAY. THE JOLT THAT HAPPENS MAKES EVERYONE IN MY VEHICLE JOLT FORWARD AND CAUSE THE SEAT BELTS TO LOCK UP. I AM TO THE POINT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE HAVING MY KIDS IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF HOW OFTEN MY CAR LOSES POWER TO ACCELERATE OR GETS LOCKED IN A LOWER GEAR. CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. LEAVING ME STUCK IN MIDDLE OF ROAD AND WILL NOT TURN ON FOR PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME.
NOTICED OIL DRIPPING SO TOOK JEEP (2014 JEEP CHEROKEE) IN TO LOOK TO SEE IF OIL FILTER WAS PUT ON CORRECTLY. MECHANIC SAID OIL EVERYWHERE, SHOWED ME POOL OF OIL SITTING UNDER FILTER ALL OVER ENGINE PARTS. HE DE-GREASED ENGINE AND FOUND THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HAD I NOT NOTICED, ENGINE COULD HAVE HEATED UP AND CAUSED ENGINE FIRE! ONE JEEP BLOGS, MANY EPLE INDICATE SAME ISSUE WITH POOR PART. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HOUSING CRACKING EVEN ON 5 YEAR OLD CAR THAT WAS $35K.

THE CONTACT JUMP STARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, WHILE JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE, SEVERAL DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BLACK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (831 SALISBURY RD, STATESVILLE, NC 28677, (704) 924-7070) WHO STATED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V343000 (POWER TRAIN) OR 20E037000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON. I WOULD TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART AND IT WOULD GO AWAY. THEN IT STARTED COMING ON MORE FREQUENTLY AND THEN IT CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, THE SECOND TWO TIMES IT CUT OFF, I WAS ON THE STREET 35MPH. IT STARTED BACK UP ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT CUT OFF DUE TO LOW OIL AND THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANY OTHER CODES. GUESS WHAT THE CAR CUT OFF AGAIN ON MY WAY HOME. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS SINCE IT IS CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AT FULL SPEED. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS SO THERE MUST BE SOME TYPE OF FIX. I AM DESPERATE FOR HELP AT THIS TIME. I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO TELL JEEP TO FIX. PLEASE HELP, I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO GET INTO A DEADLY ACCIDENT.
VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY BOGS DOWN AND SOMETIMES STALLS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. SOMETIMES THIS WILL OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW AND SOMETIMES IT WILL GO DAYS, EVEN WEEKS WITHOUT REOCCURRING. THE JEEP DEALER KEPT CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS SAID SEVERAL TEST DRIVES FOUND NO PROBLEM AND THE DIAGNOSTICS AND ONBOARD COMPUTER CODES WERE NORMAL. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY VARY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IF TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE OR TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE. THE PROBLEM IS REPORTED ALL THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET BUT NOTHING IN RECALLS. ALL RECALLS ON THIS VIN HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.
I HAVE A SAFETY PROBLEM IN JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK 2014 IN PTU AND SHAFT DRIVE SINCE FEBRUARY 2020 WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I REPORTED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME NEED TO REPLACE THE PARTS AND WHEN I SAW YOUR SITE POSTING THE LINK INCLUDING THE VIN NUMBER I CHECK MY CAR AND I FOUND THERE IS RECALL FOR THE CAR AND I EMAIL TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REFUSE TO RECEIVE THE CAR REFERRING TO OUR PHONE CONVERSATION TODAY MORNING, YOU SAID THAT YOU ARE UNABLE TO SHARE WITH ME THE OFFICIAL DOCUMENT FROM YOUR SYSTEM SHOWING THATNO RECALLS FOR THE MENTIONED VEHICLE, ALSO YOU SAID THAT YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE VEHICLE IN YOUR WORK SHOP BECAUSE AS YOU MENTIONED EARLIER IN YOUR MAIL THAT YOU DID NOT RECEIVE ANY RECALLS FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON YOUR SYSTEM, IN ADDITION YOU TOLD ME YOURGOOD COMPANY NOT OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE ANY COMPENSATION RESULTING FROM THIS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE TILL THIS DATE YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATING THIS. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT SUDDENLY TURNED ON WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, WITH ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS ON. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED ENGINE, THE LIGHT IS GONE.
CAR HAS SERVICE PARK BRAKE ALERT LIGHT ON AND WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. CAR WILL SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND WILL NOT GO BACK TO PARK UNTIL YOU MESS AROUND WITH IT FOR A FEW SECONDS. MILEAGE NUMBERS BLINKING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND TRACTION LIGJT ON. PRIOR TO THIS, CAR SPEEDOMETER STARTED BLINKING CONTINUOUSLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE AS YOU ARE UNSURE TO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR AS NO INDICATORS COME ON WHILE IT IS DOING IT.
I HAVE A 14 JEEP. I WENT THROUGH BOTH RECALLS WITH IN 3 MONTHS MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL RANDOMLY AROUND 40 MPH. IT THROUGH A CODE P0997 LOW VOLTAGE TO SOLENOID F. IN A DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY IN A WEEK IT CAME BACK. WENT TO DEALER PAID $1169 TO REPLACE VALVE BODY. IT NOW SHIFTS SMOOTHLY A LOT BETTER THAN IT EVER HAVE. IN MY PERSPECTIVE THE VALVE BODY POSSIBLY THE REASON THAT THE JEEPS SHIFTS HARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED

VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHILE TRAVELING 70+ MILES AN HOUR ON THE FREEWAY TACHOMETER JUMPS UP AND DOWN AND VEHICLE DISPLAYS "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR" VEHICLE HAS NO ABILITY TO DRIVE, YOU MUST PULL OFF HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY ABILITY TO USE GAS AND PUT CAR INTO PARK. ALSO DOES THIS AT INTERSECTIONS. I HAVE A VIDEO OF IT DOING IT AT THE INTERSECTION (CAN NOT VIDEO GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AS IT IS NOT SAFE). OPENED TWO CASES WITH CHRYSLER #[XXX] AND #[XXX]. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT JEEP SERVICE DEALERS FOR OVER 15 DAYS AND NOT REPAIRED. VEHICLE IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE WHEN IS DOES NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE THE GAS WHEN IT DISPLAYS THIS ON THE SCREEN. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO HAVE SERVICE DEALER START REPLACING PARTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. BOTH JEEP SERVICE DEALERS STATED THAT NO CODE CAME UP ON THEIR COMPUTER, THEREFORE THEY CAN NOT FIX. DEALERS IN QUESTION: AUTONATION IN ROSEVILLE, CA 916 781 8100 AND FOLSOM JEEP 916 520 1135. AUTONATION IN ROSEVILLE ALONG WITH CHRYSLER WERE PROVIDED THE VIDEO. AUTONATION IN ROSEVILLE WAS SPECIALLY TOLD TO CONTACT CHRYSLER TO WORK WITH A CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN TO FURTHER TROUBLESHOOT THE ISSUE, THEY SIMPLY SENT THE VIDEO AND TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO. FILING THIS ISSUE AS A VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT TO FIND RESOLVE BEFORE IT KILLS THE DRIVER AND/OR OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY. ISSUE HAPPENS AS I HAVE STATED GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND AT STOPS AS WELL. THE DASHBOARD COMPLETELY GOES BLANK FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN COMES ON WALL DRIVING. OR ENGIN COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF FOR 4 SECONDS AND THEN TURNS BACK ON WALL DRIVING
CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE IS SHOWING AN ERROR CODE FOR SERVICE SHIFTER AND ALL THE SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED. CHRYSLER JEEP IS STATING THAT THIS PART IS BACK ORDERED AND THEY CANNOT CURRENTLY REPLACE THE PART. MY VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION RELATED COMPLAINTS INCLUDING MULTIPLE HARD SHIFT REPAIR REQUESTS. FIRST YEAR OF THE OWNING THE NEW VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. A RECALL WAS DONE ON 01/31 AND ON 02/01 THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND ALL ERROR CODES CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR CODE CAME ON GOING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE UPLOADED ALL THE SERVICE DOCUMENTS FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHIFTS VERY ROUGH. WHETHER ON THE INTERSTATE OR JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN. IT ALSO IDLES VERY HIGH, AND USES A LOT OF EXCESS GAS. ALSO, WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE ON THERE ARE TIMES THAT NOTHING WILL APPEAR ON THE LCD SCREEN, SO I AM UNABLE TO CONTROL ANYTHING IN THE CAR AS FAR AS ELECTRONICS, CLIMATE, RADIO, PHONE ETC. EVEN TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON DOES NOT WORK. EVENTUALLY IT JUST TURNS BACK ON, WHILE DRIVING. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE A MESSAGE WILL COME ACROSS THE SCREEN STATING THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PHONE IN THE CAR AND TO CONTACT THE DEALER.

I PURCHASED MY CAR ON 10/1/19 WITH 98,000 MILES. A FEW SHORT DAYS LATER MY CAR STARTED DRIVING HORRIBLE. SHAKING,BUCKING, JERKING, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE AND SHIFT AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, SCANNED IT AND WAS SHOWING P0520 OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THAT WAS REPLACED. CAR WAS STILL DRIVING THE SAME AND 3 DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THIS TIME CODE P06DD. BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC WHERE HE HAD IT 3 WEEK. MY OIL PUMP WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW OEM PUMP. THE VERY NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, THROWING THE SAME CODE P06DD. BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE MY CAR WAS LOW 2 QUARTS OF OIL. WAS TOLD TO BRING IT TO JEEP FOR RECALL AND DIAGNOSIS. JEEP HAS MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS, COMPLETED THE RECALL BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE MY CAR. UPON LEAVING THE JEEP DEALER MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND NOW MY CAR WAS STUCK IN SAFE MODE AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 60MPH. I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR TWO WEEKS AND REPLACED MY ENGINE. I PICKED MY CAR UP ON 12/6/19 FROM THE DEALER I PURCHASED FROM, WHO JUST REPLACED MY ENGINE. WITH A NEW ENGINE, THE CAR IS STILL NOT DRIVING RIGHT. IT IS STILL SHAKING,BUCKING, JERKING, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE, HESITATING TO SHIFT OUT OF ALL GEARS. I HAD MY TIRES BALANCED 2 TIMES.ON 1/13/2020 MY CAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WENT INTO SAFE MODE AGAIN. NOT GOING OVER 60MPH. THIS TIME NO ENGINE LIGHTS ARE ON. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED FROM, THEY HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER..WHICH SHOWED NO CODES. IT TOOK MY CAR OUT OF SAFE MODE BUT DID NOT FIX ANY OF THE PROBLEMS I'M HAVING. TODAY, 1/21/20 MY CAR WENT BACK INTO SAFE MODE WHILE DRIVING. WILL NOT GO OVER 60MPH AND THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH SHOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. WE PURCHASED THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK IN 2015. WE HAVE COMPLAINED NUMEROUS TIMES TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION LUNGING FORWARD, DOWNSHIFTING HARD OR BASICALLY ROUGH SHIFTING. THEY TOLD ME ON ALL OF THOSE OCCASIONS AFTER LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THAT IS WAS NORMAL AND PROBABLY USER ERROR. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE NUMEROUS RECALLS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. WAS TOLD SEVERAL TIMES IT WAS FIXED AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NOW THAT THE CAR IS OUT OR WARRANTY, IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS TOLD TO ME AFTER THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT COULD BE FIXED FOR $1200. NOW THEY SAY THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NOT FOUND A SINGLE PERSON OUT OF THE APPROXIMATELY 100 PEOPLE WITH CHEROKEES OR GRAND CHEROKEES WHO TELL ME THEIR RADIOS PERFORM WELL. HELP!
WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED ON ANY KIND OF INCLINE, THE CAR INITIALLY WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED. INCREASED PRESSURE RESULTS IN A CLUNKING SOUND AND A JACK-RABBIT ACCELERATION, VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF I TURN RIGHT OR LEFT FROM AN INCLINED STOP. IT WAS LAST REPROGRAMMED DUE TO A RECALL IN DECEMBER, 2020. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR REPROGRAMMING OF THE CVT. EACH TIME THE CONDITION IMPROVES FOR 100-200 MILES, THEN RETURNS TO ITS FORMER CONDITION AND RESULTING PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. THE AVERAGE MPG ALSO FLUCTUATES BY AS MUCH AS 10 MPG DURING THE PROCESS.
AS I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AROUND 9PM I WAS DRIVING DOWN A COUNTY STREET WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT OFF AT SOME POINT, BUT AS I APPROACHED A CURVY BRIDGE I HAD TO SLIGHTLY TURN WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO FOLLOW THE CURVE, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL FELT HARD LIKE I COULDNT FULLY STEER THE STEERING WHEEL. NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET TO MY PARENTS HOUSE WHEN AS HE BACKED OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY THE WHEEL LOCKED AND HE COULDNT STEER. SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND TURNED THE CORNER ONLY TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY LOCK AGAIN AS HE TRIED TO TURN THE CORNER AND CAR JUST DIED. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND CAR RESTARTED AND WAS JUST BARELY ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO MY MOMS WHERE IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND HE HAD TO LEAVE THERE.THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE.

I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO TWO MECHANICS NOW WHO HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE FUEL TANK. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND A LOT OF FELLOW OWNERS OF 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWKS TO ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I AM OUT OF MY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY AND THE EXTENDED COVERAGE I PURCHASED FOR THE VEHICLE COVERS EVERY ASPECT OF THE FUELING SYSTEM EXCEPT THE TANK. I FIND THAT TO BE QUITE ODD. IN FACT, THE COMPANY DOES NOT OFFER ANY TYPE OF COVERAGE THAT WOULD COVER THE FUEL TANK ITSELF. IT TAKES ME AROUND 20 MINUTES OR SO TO FILL MY GAS TANK AND THAT IS A MERE ESTIMATE BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY OTHER THAN GUESSING AT THIS POINT TO KNOW WHEN THE TANK IS FULL.
