I DROVE 365 HIGHWAY MILES, THE LAST 20 OF WHICH WERE ON WINDING UPHILL MOUNTAIN ROADS, STOPPING AT MY MOUNTAIN CABIN, WITH NO ISSUES. PARKED, WITH ENGINE OFF, TO SHOVEL SNOW ALLOWING ACCESS TO STEEP SNOW-COVERED DRIVEWAY. UPON COMPLETION AND RESTARTING MY VEHICLE, I ATTEMPTED TO ENTER 4WD LOW TO PROCEED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. WOULD NOT ENTER LOW, DISPLAYING "4WD NOT AVAILABLE'. REPEATED ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL, WITH ADDITIONAL ERRORS DISPLAYING: "SERVICE ENGINE', "SERVICE SHIFTER', "SERVICE P BRAKE". DECIDED TO ATTEMPT DRIVING IN 4WD (ONLY); VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF NEUTRAL. SHIFTER WAS PHYSICALLY LOCKED IN POSITION. KEPT FUSSING, WHILE ALL ERROR MESSAGES BEING DISPLAYED ALTERNATELY. IT EVENTUALLY COUPLE BE SHIFTED (WITH NORMAL EFFORT); UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS NOW REVERSE NOT DRIVE (WHICH I NEEDED). UPON ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT TO DRIVE, IT STUCK IN NEUTRAL ON ITS WAY TO DRIVE. AGAIN LOCKED IN PLACE. EVENTUALLY UNLOCKED AND COULD BE SHIFTED; BUT WAS NOW WARY OF DESCENDING THE DRIVEWAY AND DECIDED TO DRIVE IT A BIT TO TEST. IT SEEMED AS THOUGH IT MIGHT BE UNLOCKING AFTER A TIMEOUT PERIOD, SO START A STOPWATCH ON MY PHONE. EVENTUALLY DETERMINE THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS TIMING OUT AFTER 4:30, AND COULD BE SHIFTED, WITH ALL SHIFTS BEING VERY HARD AND LOUD. FINALLY GOT IT IN DRIVE AND DROVE THE ~3 MILE LOOP OF PLOWED, BUT STILL SNOWY AND SLOPPY ROADWAY; ON THIS TEST DRIVE, WITH ALL MESSAGES STILL ON AND ALTERNATING, IT BECAME CLEAR I HAD ONLY REAR WHEEL DRIVE AND WAS IN A SINGLE GEAR SPEED, ALLOWING ONLY SLOW STARTING AND POOR STOPPING, WITH SPEEDS OF 20 MPH PER 1,000 RPM. AFTER A FEW WIFI CALLS FROM MY DRIVEWAY TO NEIGHBORS AND MY JEEP DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER; DECIDED TO RETURN TO TOWN FOR REPAIRS. EACH PASSAGE THRU NEUTRAL LOCKING THE TRANSMISSION FOR 4:30, AND ALL SHIFT INTO EITHER GEAR, EXTREMELY "HARD"
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V343000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE LOCAL DEALER NEW CARLISLE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM - TOBEY AUTO GROUP (580 N MAIN ST, NEW CARLISLE, OH 45344) WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE INPUT SPLINE HAD DAMAGED TEETH FROM SHAFT MOVEMENT WHICH CREATED DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT BE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE REMEDY THE LOCAL DEALER PROVIDED FROM THE MANUFACTURER WAS FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT WOULD MAINTAIN VEHICLE PROPULSION WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS TOO MUCH DAMAGE TO THE SHAFT AND THAT THE RECALL REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGES OR AN EVENTUAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
AUTO START/STOP SYSTEM ENGAGES WHILE PARKING. DASH BOARD BRIGHTENS OR DIMS AT RANDOM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V826000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STRUCTURE) AT ANTIOCH CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (105 IL-173, ANTIOCH, IL 60002) HOWEVER, THE WATER SHIELD THAT WAS REPLACED FOR THE LIFTGATE MODULE, MELTED AND DAMAGED THE WIRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS SON NOTIFIED HIM THAT THE LIFTGATE STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANTIOCH CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (105 IL-173, ANTIOCH, IL 60002) AND RAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (23 US-12, FOX LAKE, IL 60020) WHERE THE DEALERS INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SENT OUT A THIRD-PARTY INSPECTOR TO INSPECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER MAILED THE CONTACT A LETTER THAT INFORMED HIM THAT FROM THE INSPECTION, THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURE DEFECT FOUND, AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TRANSMISSION ENGAGES VIOLENTLY WHEN COASTING, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMING OUT OF A COAST DOWNHILL. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AFTER COASTING THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES VIOLENTLY. THIS GENERALLY OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO JUMP FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR OR 3RD FOR 4TH. THIS IS A VERY VIOLENT ENGAGEMENT, TO THE POINT WHERE IT CAN BE FELT THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL. IT OFTEN TIME FEELS LIKE THE DRIVER HAS IMPACTED AN OBJECT, WHICH MAY CAUSE THE DRIVER TO OVERREACT TO CONDITIONS. THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DEALERSHIPS SEVERAL TIMES.
TRANSMISSION FAILED, HAD TO REBUILD NOV 2020 4X4 SVC LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY, PTU FAILED AS WELL JAN 2021. VEHICLE KEPT ENGAGING 4X4 AND LOOSING POWER
Electronic park break. Was repaired but still won’t turn off.
FOUR TIMES WITHIN THE PAST TWO WEEKS THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF. TWICE WHILE TURNING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION AND TWICE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE INSTANTLY STALLS AND ENTIRE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. CAR TAKES 5-20 MIN TO RESTART. THERE'S NO BURNING SMELL OR SPUTTERING/STALLING WHEN CAR SHUTS OFF. IT IS DANGEROUS AND ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS WHEN STALLING TURNING INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION.
SERVICE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON GAS CAP LIGHT CAME ON AND IT THROWS MY PARKING BRAKE ON AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I STOP AND PUT INTO PARK. EVEN AFTER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 60,000 MILES STILL HAVE HARD SHIFTING PROBLEMS AS WELL. VEHICLE DIED WHEN I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT THIS IS WHEN THE LIGHTS APPEARED.
VEHICLE STALLS IN TRAFFIC.
I've read all of these complaints online about issues with the same situation that I'm having issues with. Everyone that owns a Jeep is having the same issue. With the service shifter light, it comes on often after 12000 miles. Being put on the vehicle in everyone's statement is the same. What is it going to take for someone to look within this issue? To see why our service shifter light keeps coming on. After so many miles, I have had this issue serviced in the last three years 3 times. Why isn't the complaints enough for this to go into a recall status. It is unsafe for us to keep driving our families around in these vehicles And this issue keeps coming about what if this issue starts, causing other issues within the vehicle? To shut off, while were on the road driving to our destinations. How and when what? We get a piece of mind from having to deal with this situation, Day in and Day Out. If any proof of this situation is needed to be shown, there is no pictures in my phone only proof I have is through the dealership who's had the replace it 3 times
OIL LEAKS AROUND THE FILTER HOUSING. COULD LEAD TO A FIRE ON THE MANIFOLD OR EXHAUST. THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH FILTER HOUSING FAILURES. ENGINE COULD FAIL IN COLD WEATHER.
SERVICE GEAR SHIFTER APPEARS. CANNOT SEE MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENS. MOSTLY WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR MORE THAN A HALF HOUR.
IF NOT TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DOWN SHIFT PROPERLY, LEAVING ME SEMI STALLED IN INTERSECTIONS, ETC. IT DOES THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS. OTHER OWNERS OF SAME MODEL TELL ME THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
MY "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHTS CAME ON. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO JEEP VEHICLES ONLY ESPECIALLY CHEROKEE JEEPS. IT STARTED COMING ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING BUT IT DIDN'T COME ON AFTER I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTOOD FROM THE DEALERS, IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE JEEPS. I DID MY RESEARCH, AND SOME PEOPLE HAD IT REPLACED BUT CONTINUE TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAD A RECALL FOR IT. I'VE HAD SO MANY RECALLS IN THIS VEHICLES SINCE I GOT THE CAR. SEEMS LIKE EVERY YEAR I GET A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED IN NEUTRAL AND FAILED TO SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REFERRED HIM TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT CONTACTED SALSBURY'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (13939 AIRLINE HWY, BATON ROUGE, LA 70817, (225) 926-8800) WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLE HAS A DELAY WHEN GOING FROM STATIONARY TO ACCELERATING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2015 JEEPS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON MINE WHICH IS EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE FIRST HAND IS NOT ON OF THEM.
HAD A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM MY VEHICLE AND TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE MECHANIC SAID THERE IS A LEAK IN THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER. WHEN ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM HE SAID YES AND HAD CONTACTED THE MAIN JEEP DEALER IN OUR AREA AND THEY SAID THE SAME AS WELL. IT BREAKS CAUSING A LEAK WHICH THEN THE OIL POOLS BY THE ENGINE CAUSING THE OIL TO GET HOT AND BURN. THE BURNING STARTED AFTER DRIVING LONG ENOUGH TO HEAT THE MOTOR. THE FIX IS A $600 TO $700 FIX. THE MECHANIC AND DEALER ALSO MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN POPPING UP IN NEWER AND USED JEEPS AND IS A COMMON PROBLEM NO MATTER HOW NEW OR OLD THE JEEP IS.
MY JEEP IS HAVING TRANNY ISSUES AND IS MAKING VERY LOUD ENGINE SOUND DUE TO THE TRANNY LAGGING,WHICH IS MAKING MOTOR REV REALLY HIGH,AND SOMETIMES IT IS NOT PREDICTABLE,WHICH AT THAT POINT CAUSES THE MOTOR TO BE SOMETIMES REAL JERKY OR JUMPY RANDOMLY CAUSING IT NOT TO RUN RIGHT!..OR HAVE A ROUGH RIDE OR IT'S SHIFTING TO SHIFT RIGHT OR EVEN TO GO TO THE NEXT GEARS..SEAMS LIKE SOMETIMES,IT WANTS THE MOTOR TO BLOW UP !!!
WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY IN NOVEMBER 2020 I HAD ENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SET IT AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH. A SEMI TRUCK CHANGED INTO MY LANE WITHOUT BLINKER WARNING. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT THE CRUSE CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. I THEN BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKES AND STILL NO DISENGAGEMENT. AS I APPROACHED THE BACK END OF THE SEMI PRIOR TO HITTING IT, I DROVE OFF THE FREEWAY DOWN THE DESCENDING EMBANKMENT STILL PUMPING THE BRAKES WITHOUT DISENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL. AS I BEGAN SLIDING DOWN THE EMBANKMENT I BRAKES DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL JUST BEFORE A COLLISION WITH THE DIVIDER.
UNDER THE CHRYSLER WARRANTY, MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION RESULTED IN COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. RIGHT NOW, (OUT OF WARRANTY) THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAS FAILED. IT APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE RECENT RECALL THAT REQUIRED A FLASH OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TO PREVENT DETERIORATION OF "SPLINES" WITHIN THE UNIT. I HAD THAT DONE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. NOW THE ENTIRE TRANSFER CASE IS CLATTERING AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALL. I AM BEING ASKED TO PAY OVER $3,200 INCLUDING TODAY'S DIAGNOSIS AND WAIT 3 OR MORE WEEKS TO BACKORDER THE PART. I WILL PROCEED WITH THE WORK, HOWEVER, THEY HAVE NO CLEAR TIMELINE, SO I PARKED THE CAR AS IT IS APPARENTLY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, EVEN IF I COULD STAND THE NOISE. I BELIEVE THIS IS PART OF THE PRIOR RECALL AND WANT HELP TO TRY TO DETERMINE THIS. I NOW UNDERSTAND THAT THIS REPORT IS REALLY JUST A BOOKMARK IN CASE YOU ALL DECIDE TO INVESTIGATE IF THERE ARE MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THE SAME THING. THE TRANSFER UNIT CLATTERS WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS TO MAKE THE WHEELS TURN. I HAVE HAD IT ASSESSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FIRST, THEN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE IN AGREEMENT THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT MUST BE REPLACED.
VEHICLE CONTINOUSLY FLASHES ERROR CODE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ON DASH SCREEN. IN ADDITION ALL LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ON SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. ABLE TO CLEAR FAULT BE RESTARTING VEHICLE. DOES NOT SEEM TO AFFECT SHIFTING OF VEHICLE. BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF PAST YEAR.
AFTER THE RECALL 20V-343 IN AUG OF 2020 THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE FOLLOWING IN NOVEMBER WHILE DRIVE OVER 55MPH. THE MIL LIGHT CAME ON, COULD FEEL THE POWER TRAIN SWITCHED TO REAR WHEEL DRIVE AND ONCE PULLED OVER THE COMPUTER LOCKED THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, THE BRAKE LITE LIT AND THE DISPLAY REPORTED ERROR OF "SERVICE TRANSMISSION". WE COULD NO LONGER SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION. LATER THE DEALER REPORTED METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSFER CASE CALLED PTU ALONG WITH A SUBSTANCE LIKE CLUTCH MATERIAL. ON REPLACEMENT WE WERE CHARGED $3,200+ WITH A DELAY OF SEVERAL MONTHS AND TWO PTUS WERE ORDER AS THE REPLACEMENT DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE SHOP. ON REQUEST TO FCA THEY DENIED THE REIMBURSEMENT AS LISTED IN THE RECALL AS A "FIELD SERVICE" WE SUBMIT THE PAPER WORK IDENTIFYING THE VIN TIED TO THE RECALL, THE SERVICE WORK DESCRIBING THE DAMAGES AND AN IMAGE OF THE DASH CONFIGURATION AT THE TIME REFLECTING THE INTENDED PURPOSE OF THE SOFTWARE PATCH AS OUTLINED IN THE RECALL.
I OWN A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT WITH 104K MILES. BOTH REAR KNUCKLES NEED REPLACED AND THE BUSHINGS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE IS SEVERELY WORN MORE THAN THE OTHER. THERE ARE NO LOCAL DEALERS WHO CAN GET THEM AS THEY ARE BACK ORDERED THROUGH CHRYSLER. ONE DEALER IS SHOWING 30+ ORDERED THROUGH THEIR DEALERSHIP ALONE. I HAVE EVEN CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATE DIRECTLY WITH NO LUCK OR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. MY LOCAL TECHNICIAN SAID THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH WINTER COMING TO MY AREA AND THAT IS MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL AS INTENDED. THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! THE PART # PROVIDED FROM THE DEALERS IS 5090072AE. WHILE RESEARCHING VARIOUS SITES FOR ANOTHER SOURCE, I AM ONLY ABLE TO FIND 5090072AD, WHICH LOOKS LIKE THE RIGHT PART BUT DOES NOT MATCH PART NUMBERS. HOW DO I GET A PART THAT MY VEHICLE REQUIRES TO FUNCTION SAFELY AND KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE (NEW BORN CHILD) WHEN THE MANUFACTURER WON'T PROVIDE ME THE PART OR GIVE ME AN UPDATE ON WHEN ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AND THE SHIFTER HAD RED LIGHT LIGHT UP FOR PARK REVERSE NEUTRAL DRIVE AND MANUAL. UPON MORE RESEARCH MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND HAVING TO HAVE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND WIRING HARNESS REPLACED
JUST AFTER I STARTED JEEP. I HAD A WARNING BEEP. DASH HAS SERVICE SHIFTER ON IT. ALL THE LIGHTS ALONG THE SHIFTER WERE LIT UP AS IF SHIFTER WAS IN ALL THE POSITIONS. DROVE IT A SHORT DISTANCE. STOPPED TURNED OFF IGNITION. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND IT WAS CLEARED UP. HAVE 59036 MILES ON JEEP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO HER RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LAFONTAINE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF LANSING (6131 S PENNSYLVANIA AVE, LANSING, MI 48911) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,284.
THE CAR WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION WHEN THE CAR WAS TURN ON THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND IT STARTED SHAKING THEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON , ALSO THE D WAS FLASHING AND THE LIGHT FOR ICE CONTROL WAS FLASHING AS WELL
HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM, EVEN WHEN USING HIGH BEAMS. THIS WAS A TERRIBLE DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS BEEN CHANGED IN RECENT JEEP MODELS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN OFFERED TO CONVERT PREVIOUS OWNER'S CARS. JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS AS IT'S A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT.
WHEN STARTING MY CAR IT DID NOT WANT TO START AND THEN IT DID AND ALL THIS HAPPENED,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT 4WD TEMPORALLY UNAVAILABLE, SERVICE PARK BRAKE , AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. AT AUTO ZONE THE CODE STATED WATCHDOG PERFORMANCE
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD NOT EVEN 2 MILES FROM HOME THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. ONLY WARNING WAS A THE AUTO START/STOP WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I DIDN'T GET 1 MILE FROM THAT STOP SIGN WHEN THE CAR DIED AGAIN. SAME WARNING LIGHT. THIS IS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY HAD I MADE IT TO THE INTERSTATE AND IT STALLED THERE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY. THE CAR WILL RUN AND THEN START RUNNING REALLY ROUGH FOR NO REASON AND USUALLY STALLS OUT.
ON A SUNDAY THE 25TH OCTOBER MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT HOME GETTING READY TO GO TO THE SHOPS DIDN'T WANT TO GO FORWARD BUT IT WAS AUTOMATICALLY REVERSING. IT CHANGED TO LOW GEAR AND DIDN'T WANNA INCREASE SPEED ABOVE 40KM/HR, IT DEACTIVATED ALL SENSORS. IT LOST POWER AND STARTED JACKING BUT WAS ONLY REVERSING. I CALLED JEEP SA SANDTON ON MONDAY AS IT DID THE SAME THING THEY SAID IT MUST BE TOWN MUST TOWED. ON ARRIVAL I WAS TOLD M VEHICLE HAS PTU PROBLEM, IT IS NOT TRANSMITTING POWER TO THE FRONT WHEELS. AND I NEED TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF PTU. I ASKED WHAT CAUSES THIS PTU, THE SERVICE GIRLS SAID SHE DOESN'T KNOW. I GOOGLED AND DISCOVERED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THIS PTU SOFTWARE UPDATE BECAUSE THESE CARS EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. BUT NO ONE INFORMED ME DESPITE THAT MY CAR WENT FOR A SERVICE WITH JEEP IN MAY. THE DEALER AND FCA JOHANNESBURG IS REFUSING TO FIX THE DAMAGE AND TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE, THE CAR HAS BEEN WITH THEM FOR 2 WEEKS, AND I AM TOLD I NEED TO PAY, WHILE THE INFORMATION IS CLEAR THAT THE RECALL WAS WORLDWIDE, AND IRRESPECTIVE IF YOUR CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANT OR NOT THE PTU NEEDS TO BE UPDATED AND REPLACED BY DEALER FREE OF CHARGE.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND IT EFFECTS THE SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE. IF YOU TURN OFF THE VEHICLE THE LIGHT RESETS. UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AT THIS TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP. HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE HAS A HESITATION/DELAY IN ACCELERATION.

BUT THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND WHEN YOU GO TO CRANK THE ENGINE OVER IT WILL DO NOTHING FOR MAYBE 5 TO 10 SECONDS BEFORE YOU HERE THE BELTS AND FANS START TO CRANK. HAD THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY TESTED. REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT STILL DOES IT JUST NOT AS OFTEN.

RESIN VOLUME ALSO DIMINISHED. THIS WILL NOT RESET UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF FOR ~5 MINUTES. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WITH SHORT DRIVES OF 15 MINUTES AND DURING LONGER DRIVES OF 1HOUR.

WE HAVE REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEEP TELLING US NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. IT WILL HESITATE AND JERK IN REVERSE AND FORWARD. AT TIMES IT FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING EVER SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTING IS ERRATIC. FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE MAY PAUSE BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. AT HIGHWAY SPEED SHIFTING IS ALSO ERRATIC. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY, THUS REVVING THE ENGINE AND ACCELERATION IS DIFFICULT. MANUFACTURER TRIES TO SOLVE THE ISSUE WITH SOFTWARE UPDATES.
