The automatic 9 sped transmission has not been hesitating after backing up and then putting it in drive to move forward. Also when driving up hill the transmission fails to shift into another gear and the RPMS increases. While stopped at a traffic light the transmission hesitates causing me to be concerned with being hit from behind. Then when accelerating the transmission does not shift and the again the RPMS stay at a high rate. I feel the with the erratic behavior of the transmission is puts and an other at a safety risk. The problem has not ben confirmed by the dealer and has not been inspected. There have been not warning lights or messages to indicate a problem.
July 2021. 28,000 miles! Service 4WD light went on. My 4WD stopped working. Jeep Service said we needed new PTU. Expensive! Cannot afford to fix this. I am afraid to drive in the snow without 4WD.
Manual brakes light turn on, brake pedal gets hard, car wouldn’t stop.
My Jeep Year, Model, and Make have a recall out for the PTU system (within the last year). When I checked my VIN number on here it said My Jeep was not part of the recall. I believe the recall should be extended outside its current limits. Just last week I had to take my Jeep in because my PTU went bad and could have potentially been dangerous if I had not taken it in (loss of power to transmission etc.). On top of that, since according to NHTSA (really FCA), my jeep isn't affected by the recall but clearly it is. So I have to pay to get it replaced out of pocket for a defective unit!
while I was driving a was coming to a complete stop and the jeep stalled on me and said a quick message on the dash about shifting i tried to start it again and it took a second to kick over. Its done this twice today and has been doing it at least once a day. This is a serious problem especially if I happen to be on the highway or going threw an intersection.
While driving home from work. The rear of my vehicle made a sudden shifting forward / jarring effect. Soon after that a notification came up saying "4WD unavailable and a ding lighting saying to service 4WD. Then all went away. My boyfriend called dealership and explained to our service advisor @ New Carlisle CDJR dealer the situation and told us to bring it in today. While driving there the 4WD indicator to service came back on and that 4WD was unavailable again. But at the dealer he could not pull it up on computer. After reminding him of the jarring effect, he decided to test drive it. As soon as a pulled out he knew something was wrong. They put it up on a lift and found the rear differential housing was CRACKED all the way around. I was lucky to be able to get it there without incident! I wonder how many other jeeps are getting ready to explode the rear end like mine and others I have read about! Hopefully FCA will release a recall on this life threatening issue that could cause a fatality!
My liftgate tries to operate while I am driving. I have taken my jeep in to the dealer 3 times for the same issue. They have thrown parts at it but never fixed it. I believe this is an electrical problem because it only happens when the weather is hot and inside vehicle temp is hot. The lift gate will operate without expectation or try to, even when I am driving. When I am driving, A warning will show on the dash "shift vehicle to park to operate liftgate" while I am driving. If the vehicle has been parked for a while and the internal temperature is hot,, I can touch the sensor door handle to unlock the door and the lift gate will operate on its own and open. The lift gate does not do this when the internal vehicle temperature is not hot. The lift gate will also begin operating itself while being parked with the vehicle running - if the internal temperature is hot and the weather is hot: I can be parked with the engine running and the lift gate will operate itself up and down sometimes multiple times. (Like in the bank drive through - has happened multiple times). I am not ever touching anything that could have begun this operation. Dealership keeps telling me that it is not a known issue but there are multiple videos on YouTube about the lift gate operation of this vehicle and they all say it requires pulling the fuse out and then putting it back in to reset. This is an electrical issue, it has to be. There are 2 other recalls that involve the lift gate modules for this vehicle - the VIN for my specific vehicle says it is not involved in those recalls- but I cannot believe this - this issue has been ongoing since the vehicle was 1 yr old. The dealership cannot seem to find the problem and is, at this point, just throwing parts at it, which is not fixing it and only costing money. For some reason they refuse to look at the wiring or relay modules. I believe this is a serious safety issue and worry that it will never get repaired.
While in first and second gears, the car doesn't seem to know which gear to shift to. It jerks in and out of both gears and is even worse on inclines. Happens mostly under 15mph.
Service Shifter lights up on the instrument panel as well as the check engine also stop/start not ready. 4x4 not available exhilarates and UN exhilarates all by its own. Shifts hard and jumps hard when I take off at a stop light don't wanna come out of park unless I take my finger and flip up a plastic thing down inside the shifting housing. And the key fobe won't come out of the key switch. No it hasn't been in a crash yet but it's one looking for a place to happen if jeep don't have a recall. Yes my jeep has been confirmed by the Dodge dealership in Lexington Kentucky. They say that it needs a new shifter put in it I'm taking it to the dealership this coming Thursday
While driving my jeep forward or in reverse my jeep launches forward very hard. I have to press on the brake abruptly so that I don't hit anything. Also when accelerating my speedometer shows the numbers increasing but my wheels are barely moving then it kicks forward abruptly. When turning or going over bumps I feel a pop in the steering column and sometimes the dashboard icon with the vehicle & squiggly lines under it appears. I told my dealership but the mechanic just said there is nothing wrong with it even though I know there is.
Headlights do not point far enough down the road, making it difficult to see while driving at night especially on country roads or when raining.
Vehicle shut off while driving, happen twice in the middle of the road. No warning signs. Took to auto shop to tell me its electrical issues, only dealership can fix it but I got charged $220 dollar. Seeing multiple complaint of same issue but there is no recall.
When I go to pull out of a street The car just stop. I have my feet on the gas but it will not move, once I am in the street and also while in traffic it will not move even when foot on the gas I tried to explain to them at the car dealer where I took it. But I was charged 600 bucks for something else I guess this car is dangerous very dangerous I done almost had so many near missed accidents with this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power, without warning. The failure recurred several times. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 83,700.
My Jeep dashboard goes black, the vehicle stops in the middle of traffic. When I start the vehicle back up and shift it into drive it make a sound like I got rear ended. The transmission light comes on and the vehicle will only go about 20 mph. The check engine lights stays on. This has happened numerous times. The dealership kept the vehicle for 2 weeks, gave it back to me and stated they could not find anything wrong with it.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the parking brake was erroneously engaged, and the warning message "electronic brake system failure" was displayed. During the failure, the vehicle could not be driven or moved due to the braking system being engaged. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the parking brake module and passenger’s side rear actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but approximately one year later the failure reoccurred. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage 75,000. The contact paid for the necessary repairs and is seeking reimbursement.
Driving 70 miles an hour down highway my cars transmission light came on. Lost power to car. Pulled over and restarted car. Drove to side road where again lost all power. Had to sit in a tight blind curve to restart car. With my child in the car. This car is not old and should not have this issue. There are numerous other complaints about the same issue on 2014 and 2015 model. It is actually stated that 2015 has more complaints. And yet, jeep has done nothing to fix it.
No previous issues with the vehicle until this incident. That morning on my way to work my check engine light came on. I called my husband and he said he would check it out that evening. Got to work fine. When I went to go home from work my car was acting strange. The ac or blower and the radio wouldn’t come on at all until after about 15 minutes of driving. About 5 minutes later my brakes wouldn’t work at all trying to stop at a light and I ended up crashing into a car that was completely stopped while going about 35mph. My front collision detection didn’t go off until I was about an inch away from the vehicle and the automatic emergency brake didn’t engage either and normally if a car is turning slowly 30 ft ahead it will slam on the brakes. Nothing worked and I am terrified to continue driving this vehicle.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITING FOR A WHILE BEFORE PROCEEDING. AFTER APPROXIMATELY A MILE OF DRIVING, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, WAITED FOR A WHILE BEFORE PROCEEDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF BURNING ENGINE OIL WITH A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STOPPED TO INSPECT SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
SERVICE TRANMISSION WARNING COMES ON WHILE DRIVING BUT NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. THEN I HAD THE RECALL NOTICE SOFTWARE UPDATE...LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING CAME ON WHILE PARKED AND COULD NOT GET CAR TO START OR SHIFT WHEN IT FINALLY DID START. THEN..ALL OF OF SUDDEN IT WAS FINE.
SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR- WARNING LIGHT APPEARS. ALL OF THE GEAR LIGHTS ARE LIT SIMULTANEOUSLY. THEY WON'T TURN OFF UNTIL I RESTART THE JEEP (2015 CHEROKEE) ONLY TO START A SHORT TIME LATER. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND HAS OCCURRED ON STREETS.
I have to have the PTU replaced because it went. It’s not even 6 years old and there’s been a recall on the PTU for my make and model and year, yet they’re saying not my vehicle. It’s costing thousands of dollars.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE JEEP DIED ON THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED 2 DAYS (APRIL 4 & 5TH, 2021) IN A ROW. NO WARNING LIGHTS. I HAD TO REMOVE THE KEY AND OPEN THE DOOR TO RESET THE SYSTEM AND THEN IT FINALLY RESTARTED. TIRES PLUS REPORTS NO CODES WHEN DIAGNOSING. WAITING TO HEAR FROM JEEP.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AFTER SLOWING DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SERVICE 4WD POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD. THERE WAS NO NOISE OR INDICATION OF AN ISSUE UNTIL THE SERVICE NOTIFICATION POPPED UP. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. I DESCRIBED THE SITUATION AND WHEN ASKED IF THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE I WAS TOLD YES. I WENT INTO A STORE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE NOTIFICATION DID NOT APPEAR. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 9 MILES ON INTERSTATE AND ANOTHER CITY ROAD TO HOME. WHEN I BACKED INTO MY GARAGE THE NOTIFICATION POPPED BACK UP AND I ALSO SAW A FRESH OIL SPOT ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR I SAW THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CASE WAS CRACKED ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED, GARAGE KEPT AND DRIVEN INTERSTATE AND PAVED CITY STREETS. THE MECHANIC WHO DID THE REPAIR FELT THE PART SHOULD HAVE NOT FAILED AND THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A MECHANICAL DEFECT. I DO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED
Hello! My service 4WD light came on in my vehicle. The dealership stated that I need to replace my PTU which will cost me approximately $2200. I researched Jeep and see that there were some recalls regarding this same issue with Jeep Cherokee Limited 2015. I searched my VIN# and there appears to be no pending recalls. I’m asking to speak with someone further regarding my PTU concerns since there was an apparent issues with select models. My vehicle may also be one of those affected. I would appreciate a response. I can reached via email at [XXX] or via phone [XXX]. Thank you in advance for your assistance. THE OIL COOLING PART BROKE ON MY JEEP CHEROKEE, I NOTICED AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF OIL ON THE DRIVEWAY, BUT NONE OF MY 'ENGINE ISSUE WARNINGS' CAME UP SO IT MUST'VE BEEN IN THE LAST COUPLE MILES BEFORE I NOTICED THE PUDDLE ON MY DRIVEWAY. M Y MECHANIC SAID THAT HE'S SEEN THE PROBLEM ON A FEW CARS AND TRUCKS BEFORE REPAIRING MY JEEP. THE STRANG THING IS THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED. IT TOOK 2 AND 1/2 WEEKS TO GET THE PART, AND HIS PARTS DEALER HAD ORDERED 60. MY JEEP IS 2015, BUT HAS ONLY 33,000 MILES ON IT. THE SERVICE CONTRACT HOLDER IS TRYING NOT TO ALLOW THE CLAIM. BUT I WILL USE THE INFORMATION HERE AND ELSEWHERE TO TRY TO CONVINCE THEM OTHERWISE. .
THE VEHICLE STALLS AND LOOSES POWER. THUMPING IN CERTAIN GEARS. STALLS AND THEN JERKS FORWARD . SOMETIMES DOES NOT WANT TO PICK UP SPEED EVEN WHEN HITTING GAS. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY ON CITY STREETS. RIDES SMOOTH WHEN ON HIGHWAY GOING HIGH SPEEDS. AT LOW SPEEDS JERKS AND STALLS. ALSO GAS TANK LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON NO ONE IS ABLE TO FIX IT FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG.
THE JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PARKING BRAKE. I HAVE A 2015 AND SAYS NO RECALL BUT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT GETS STUCK ON NEUTRAL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHEN I AM PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. THERE ARE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG. THE CAR TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH THE KIDS IN THE CAR! THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!!!
MY 4WD UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND A LOUD KNOCKING/GRINDING SOUND AND SENSATION OCCURRED. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER. I WAS TOLD THERE IS AN ISSUE BUT NO RECALL YET. ONCE AT THE MECHANIC, HE TOLD ME THAT MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL EXPLODED AND SHATTERED THE CASE AND THERE WAS FLUID EVERYWHERE. HE TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND HE HAS PERSONALLY SERVICED VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
THIS JEEP HAS 90K MILES ON IT. WE NOTICED A VERY SEVERE OIL LEAK AND DISCOVERED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING OUT OF THE ENGINE OIL COOLER FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PART TO MALFUNCTION. OIL IS LEAKING ON TO THE MANIFOLD AND ENGINE BLOCK. THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE IF IGNORED. THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN BACK-ORDERED AND WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS THE CAR HAS BEEN SHOWING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BUT UNTIL RECENTLY THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED IN NEUTRAL AND FILED TO SHIFT TO ANOTHER GEAR. IT MAKES A LOUD CLANG SOUND WHEN SHIFTING GEARS AND AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS DOWN AFTER. THE PARKING BRAKE WOULDN'T DISENGAGE, A MESSAGE SAYING "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" APPEARS ON SCREEN. WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND NORMALLY. THERE WAS ANOTHER MESSAGE SHOWING "TRANMISSION SERVICE" WHEN THE CAR WAS ON PARK AND THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND MADE A LOUD ROAR ROUND JERKING FORWARD.
TL* THE CONTACT'S SON OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT'S SON PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT-OFF THE VEHICLE. HER SON WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HER SON'S FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V343000 (POWER TRAIN). THE CONTACT CALLED ROUTE 1 CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF LAWRENCEVILLE (2700 BRUNSWICK PIKE, LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ 08648) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT HER SON'S VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THE INFORMATION THE DEALER PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS I START MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE AS USUAL, SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DASH SAYS CANNOT SWITCH GEARS UNLESS IN PARK. THE CAR THEN STALLS AND I HAVE TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND RESTART ,THE SCARY ISSUE IS THAT I AM SOMETIMES STUCK AND CANT MOVE UNTIL I CAN RESTART THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ONLY 57,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE .
ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO ROADWAY ACROSS TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT APPROX 45 MPH. THERE WAS A BREAK IN TRAFFIC. I ACCELERATED. THE CAR MOVED FORWARD, BUT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. WOULD ONLY DO ABOUT 3 MPH NO MATTER WHAT I DID WITH THE GAS PEDAL. I NEARLY CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT IS NORMAL FOR THAT CAR IF YOU DON'T ALLOW IT TO WARM UP. THERE ARE MANY REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION, BUT IT COULD ALSO BE THE CONTROL MODULE. THIS PROBLEM CAN BE REPRODUCED, BUT IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD. THE HESITATION IS LESS IN WARMER WEATHER. ONCE THE ENGINE WARMS UP, THERE IS STILL A HESITATION, BUT IT IS NOT AS SEVERE.
this vehicle shows all recalls have been completed. however, every time it rains, the hatch compartment fills with water. 10/30/2022, my electronic parking brake light came on and the vehicle was stuck in park. Once we got the car home, I opened the hatch and removed the spare tire; there was standing water in the area from rain. This morning I was leaving for work an d the following lights came on; 1) Service 4WD 2) Service electronic Parking Brake 3) Service Airbags 4) Service Front Collision system 5) Service auto start stop 6) Adaptive Cruise Control not available 7) cruise/ fcw unab=vailable- service required This vehicle has been a complete nightmare. I did record the event as we used a shop vac to remove the water. the Service 4 wd light comes on and goes off randomly daily; the PTU was "flashed" but the problem continued. I have contacted the dealership only to be told all recalls are complete and I must pay for the additional repairs. I have contacted Jeep and have had zero resolutions.
THERE WAS A MESSAGE THAT APPEARED THAT SAID 4WD SYSTEM IS UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, AND IT STOPPED MORE THAN ONE TIME ONE OF THE TIMES WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT CAUSED TRAFFIC.
I WAS AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION GETTING READY TO TURN LEFT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE AUTO START CAUTIOUS SYMBOL SHOWED UP ON THE DASH AND THE ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON RIGHT BEFORE MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAD TO PUT ON MY HAZARDS BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID OF GETTING HIT. PUT THE JEEP INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER INTO A SHOPPING CENTER AND CHECKED TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T LEAKING ANYTHING AND TO GIVE IT TIME TO MAKE SURE IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF AGAIN. THEN THE NEXT DAY IT WAS SHAKING REALLY BAD IN IDLE AND KEPT THROWING THE SAME AUTO START CAUTION LIGHT ON THE DASH. THEN HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN TAKEN TO MECHANIC SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACK FOR CYLINDER 2 WERE CHANGED BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS.
MY CAR JUMPS FORWARD WHILE DRIVING AND REVERSING. RECENTLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY CAR JUMPED AND I HIT MY MAILBOX. THE JUMPING IS A BIG JUMP FORWARD THAT THE CAR FEELS LIKE I HIT SOMETHING EVERYTIME. IT JUMPS TYPICALLY EVERY OTHER DAY WHILE DRIVING.
The timing cover gasket is leaking oil and burning.
When slowing down to stop the transmission would thrust the vehicle forward. Upon inspection by the dealer it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle only had 86,000 miles at this time.
PTU IS FAILING AFTER ONLY 30K MILES. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND FITS DESCRIPTION OF OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE 2014 - 2017 MODELS RECALLED WITH ACTIVE DRIVE II.
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC, CAUSING IT TO EASILY BREAK MOST LIKELY DUE TO OVERTIGHTENING WHEN GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, THEN THIS CAUSES OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE BEING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD, SINCE MOST PEOPLE GO GET THEIR OIL CHANGED AT A BUSINESS NOT THEMSELVES YOU WOULDN'T KNOW UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE AND NOBODY WILL ACCEPT FAULT, JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL AND MAKE THIS HOUSING OUT OF METAL TO PREVENT THIS ISSUE.
THE DESCRIBED VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO RECALL W47 WHEREIN THE PTU SPLINES COULD DEGRADE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HAVE NO MOTIVE POWER AND COULD ROLL AWAY. THE RECALL UPDATED THE SOFTWARE TO ESSENTIALLY INSTRUCT THE VEHICLE TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE AND ALLOW MOTIVE POWER WITH REAR WHEEL DRIVE. THE RECALL DID NOT CALL FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY PART, JUST A MEANS OF KEEPING THE VEHICLE SAFE ONCE THE PART FAILED. THE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN JULY 2020 AND WE TOOK OURS TO FREMONT MOTORS JEEP (WYOMING) AND HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATED (RECALL ADDRESSED). ON FEBRUARY 20, 2021, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE FROM WYOMING TO IOWA ON INTERSTATE 90. AS SHE CROSSED FROM SOUTH DAKOTA INTO MINNESOTA, THE PTU FAILED WHICH ALSO LED TO THE FAILURE OF THE DRIVELINE CONTROL MODULE. SHE WAS USING THE INSIDE LANE AND PASSING OTHER TRAFFIC WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, THE ENGINE REVVED, AND THE VEHICLE TRIED STOPPING ITSELF. SHE WAS ABLE TO NEGOTIATE OTHER TRAFFIC, AVOID A COLLISION, AND PULL OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS -8F. I WAS ALREADY IN IOWA AND DROVE AN HOUR TO RETRIEVE HER AND HER BAGGAGE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SIOUX FALLS, SD, AND WAS LATER DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED BY BILLION JEEP. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE RECALL SHOULD HAVE INCLUDE REPLACEMENT OF THE KNOWN FAULTY PART AND NOT JUST AN UPDATE TO THE SOFTWARE TO ADDRESS THE VEHICLE "AFTER" THE PART FAILED. IT CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MY WIFE AND THE OTHER PEOPLE SHARING THE ROADWAY THAT NIGHT. RECALL W47 OBVIOUSLY DID NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE FAR ENOUGH. IT CERTAINLY FAVORED THE MANUFACTURER OVER THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE OWNERS.
Didn't cause an incident yet but I don't know if it could. The start/stop thing keeps becoming unavailable.
ON JULY 29,2020 (THE DAY I BOUGHT IT), MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN WHILE I DROVE IT ON THE INTERSTATE 8 HIGHWAY, FORCING ME TO VEER ONTO THE SHOULDER. MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION ALSO COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN COUNTLESS TIMES WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A COMPLETE STOP, WHICH HINDERS TRAFFIC BY FORCING ME TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK BEFORE IT CAN BE TURNED BACK ON AND PUT BACK INTO DRIVE. MOST OF THOSE TIMES IT WILL NOT TURN BACK ON AGAIN ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT EITHER. ON NOVEMBER 19, 2020, FOR EXAMPLE, MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN FIVE TIMES IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC WHILE I DROVE IT ON THE INTERSTATE 5 HIGHWAY. SINCE THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER 20, 2020, ALMOST EVERY TIME I GO TO START MY CAR IT WON'T START UNLESS I FIRST POP THE HOOD AND WIGGLE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CONNECTION FIRST. EVEN AFTER BUYING A NEW BATTERY. AROUND JANUARY 20, 2021, THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT FULLY DISENGAGE AND MY CAR PROCEEDED TO SHUT OFF ONE BLOCK AWAY FROM MY HOUSE ON A CITY STREET. FOR FIVE MINUTES I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND COULDN'T PUT IT BACK IN PARK AFTER DRIVING HOME. THE NEXT DAY, AFTER I TURNED ON MY CAR AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE, IT LURCHED FORWARD, MADE A BANGING SOUND, AND SHUT OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK OR DRIVE AND LEFT IT IN NEUTRAL. THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD STILL NOT FULLY DISENGAGE AND THE MESSAGE "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE" APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. I STILL COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR INTO PARK OR DRIVE SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LEFT IT IN NEUTRAL. LAST WEEK, I FORCED MY CAR INTO DRIVE AND TOOK IT TO THE KEARNY MESA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT REMAINS. THE DEALERSHIP INSISTS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 21-025-19'S EXTENDED WARRANTY INSTRUCTION DOESN'T APPLY TO MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION AND I INSIST THAT IT DOES. I ALSO SAW SOME OF THE CAR'S REAL AND VERY EXTENSIVE REPAIR HISTORY FOR THE FIRST TIME.
WATER IS LEAKING INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE FROM AN UNKNOWN LOCATION WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE FOR A WHILE CAUSING THE CARPET TO BECOME MOLDED, WHICH IS HARMFUL TO BREATH. NOTICE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME ISSUES WITH NOT RECALL BEING DONE. THIS COULD ALSO CAUSE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH WILL LEAD TO A FIRE
WHEN DRIVING THEN BRAKING I/ WE NOTICED THAT THE JEEP HAD VIBRATION AND CHATTERING ,SHAKING FEELING AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN STARTED TO NOTICE CHATTER AND SCRAPPING SOUND AT LOWER SPEEDS LIKE 25-35 MPH . SO LOOKING AT THE ROTORS I FOUND THE RIGHT REAR TO HAVE (2) TWO GROOVES ON IT . SO I TOOK IT TO BIG O IN SPARKS ,NV 89431 FOR A BRAKE INSPECTION AND THEY SHOWED ME THAT THE BRAKE PADS STILL HAD 65 TO 70 PERCENT LEFT AND THAT THE ROTORS WERE CRACKEDIN SEVERAL PLACES. THEY HAD TO REPLACE BOTH ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS . I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED . IF THEY CAME APART WHILE DRIVING SOMEONE COULD LOOSE CONTROL AND POSSIBLLY LOOSE THERE LIFE.
WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE ON A ROADWAY THE VEHICLE IS MAKING SCRAPING NOISE AS IF IT NEEDED BRAKE PADS, AND HAS HARDLY ANY BRAKING ABILITIES AND DOES NOT WAIVER IN INTENSITY OR BRAKING ABLITY EVEN WITH EXTRA PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES PEDDLE. THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS CHECKED AT A SERVICE REP. WHO ADVISED THE BRAKE PADS WERE FINE, HOWEVER THE ON BOARD COMPUTER GAVE CODES THAT THE POWER STEERING COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS INTERFEARING WITH THE BRAKING SOFTWARE. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT I NEED TO DO THIS IS MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTERS DAILY VEHICLE.
WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, CAR HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS AND WHEN ACCELERATING IT DOES NOT RESPOND NORMALLY.
