TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE BOTH ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DON K CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (6219 HWY 93 S, WHITEFISH, MT 59937, (406) 862-2571) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
WHEN ROAD IS WET, VEHICLE RANDOMLY FISH TAILS ON CITY STREETS AND/OR DOES COMPLETE 360 DEGREE SPIN ON THE INTERSTATE. TIRES ARE GOOD. REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS LEAKING. SUSPECTED DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. WE GOT THE LEAK FIXED BUT NOISE PERSISTED. JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS NOW REPLACING ENTIRE DIFFERENTIAL. WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 100,000 MILES. VEHICLE AROUND 120,000 MILES NOW. SUSPECT A DEFECT IN DIFFERENTIAL, BASED ON OTHER INTERNET SEARCHES. ALSO HAD SIMILAR ISSUE ABOUT A YEAR AGO, AND THOUGHT THAT BALDING TIRES WERE TO BLAME. OTHER SYMPTOMS INCLUDE RUBBING SOUND WHEN TURNING SLOWLY AND SHARPLY, SUCH AS BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY OR TURNING SHARPLY INTO A PARKING SPOT.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ARE ALL RED,P,R,N,D
I AM GETTING REPETITIVE "SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTICES ON MY DASH. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IN MORE WAYS THAN JUST THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. #1 - I CANNOT SEE HOW FAST I'M GOING WHEN THAT IS BEING DISPLAYED ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. #2, WHEN I COMES ON, I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF TO GET IT TO GO OFF, SOMETIMES IN 75 + MPH TRAFFIC. THIS IS A DANGER AND SAFETY HAZARD. #3 - I HAVE SPOKEN TO AND TAKEN TO DEALERSHIPS, WHICH TELL ME THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS IT IS ON, WHICH I FIND LUDICRIOUS AND HARD TO BELIEVE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ONLINE AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP VEHICLES. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS? CLEARLY, SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG FOR THERE TO BE THIS MANY COMPLAINTS. THE ISSUE HAPPENS WITH THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, OR STATIONARY. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON TO WHEN IT HAPPENS. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT COMES ON, BECAUSE I AM EITHER ON THE ROAD WHERE THERE ARE NO DEALERSHIPS, OR EARLY IN THE MORNING GOING TO WORK WHEN THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT OPEN, OR OTHERWISE NOT AVAILBLE. THIS NEEDS A RECALL ON IT IMMEDIATELY! I HAVE READ IT CAN BE FAULTY WIRING, WHICH HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF CAUSING A FIRE. I PAID FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH MOPAR AND I NEED TO GET THIS FIXED. MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT HAS APPROX. 59,000 MILES ON IT, BUT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. THE LAST TIME WAS 9/6 (SUNDAY) BUT IT'S BEEN HAPPENING ALMOST EVERY WEEK HERE RECENTLY. TURNING THE CAR OFF CLEARS IT, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT DANGEROUS OR IT'S NOT CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE.
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT SMOOTHLY DURING MOVING TURNS AT INTERSECTIONS. WHEN APPROACHING A TURN AND GAS IS OFF/BRAKE IS ON, AND STILL ROLLING AT LOW SPEED (~5 MPH) AND THEN CLEAR TO PROCEED, BRAKE IS OFF/GAS IS BACK ON, FIRST SHIFT IS VERY VIOLENT, FEELS LIKE I'M GETTING RE-ENDED. ALSO AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN IN HILL CLIMB AND SITUATION WHERE GAS OFF TO COAST FOR A BIT IS REQUIRED, VIOLENT UPSHIFT OCCURS. FEELS LIKE I'M BEING RE-ENDED IN BOTH OF THESE SCENARIOS. I FEAR THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL ON ME DURING ONE OF THESE SLOW SPEED SITUATIONS IN AN INTERSECTION CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR ON THE HIGHWAY LEAVING ME STRANDED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TOO JEEP DEALER HERE IN SCOTTSDALE AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG AND THAT THIS ZF 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION IS ACTING NORMALLY. I DON'T AGREE WITH THAT COMPARED TO MANY OTHER CARS I HAVE DRIVEN OVER MY LIFETIME. THIS TRANSMISSION IS NOT NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY. THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT NOT DO THIS IS TO STOP FOR 1 SECOND TO ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO SETTLE AND THEN PROCEED WHICH IS NOT NORMAL DRIVING. I'VE OWNED VEHICLE FOR 1 YEAR AND BEHAVIOR HAPPENS DAILY.
THE FUEL SAVING SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING IT DOES NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN I M AT A STOP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE EQUIPPED WITH A SET OF SENTURY TIRES, TIRE LINE: LIONHEART N/A, TIRE SIZE: 225/60/R17, N/A DOT NUMBER: 1BFNY12702. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR TIRE SUFFERED A BLOW OUT. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROADWAY SAFELY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE TIRES BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BRAND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE 18 YEARS OLD. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,500. *LN *JS
ON STARTING BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR CAME ONE DASH. BRAKE INDICATION LIGHT CAME ON. PARKING BRAKE HAD NOT BEEN APPLIED. SHIFTED TO REVERSE. VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. SHIFTED TO DRIVE. VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD. DROVE TO GET GAS. PARKING BRAKE AGAIN ENGAGED BY ITS SELF. SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE TO DRIVE AND PRESSING GAS AND BRAKE RELEASED WITH A JUMP OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE PARKED UNTIL ABLE TO GET TO SERVICE CENTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER HAD COME IN CONTACT WITH THE ELECTRICAL ELEMENTS WITH THE LIFTGATE. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER DAYTON ANDREWS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (2388 GULF TO BAY BLVD, CLEARWATER, FL 33765 727-799-4539) AND AS THEY WERE DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE WITH THE LIFTGATE MALFUNCTION THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE DEALER PUT OUT THE FIRE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT NOTED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BACK IN 2015. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY WAS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER NEXT WEEK. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CALLED BY THE CONTACT YET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,249.
I HAVE A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. A FEW TIMES WHEN I WAS EITHER STARTING TO DRIVE OR BACK UP MY JEEP WOULD SHIFT TO A HAULT AND DISPLAY AN ERROR ON THE SCREEN. IT'S HAPPENED WHILE I WAS REVERSING AND DRIVING.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I TRIED TO START JEEP. LIGHT CAME ON ON THE SHIFTER. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENED AT 98000.00 MILES. I TRIED LOOKING IT UP ONLINE AND I SEE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF JEEPS SO I WANTED TO REPORT IT.
CAR STALLED OUT GOING 25 MILES AN HOUR WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET. TEMPERATURE 102 AT 3:02PM. VEHICLE HAD ONLY BEEN RUNNING LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, SCROLLED THRU EACH SERVICE NOTICE {CHECK ENGINE, TURN SIGNALS, ETC..} AFTER 3RD ATTEMPT TO RESTART VEHICLE, IT STARTED. TOOK 27 MINUTES. ONCE STARTED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON.
JEEP DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNRESPONSIVE IN RESOLVING/FIXING RECALL W47 LEADING TO THE LACK OF FUNCTIONALITY OF MY JEEP CHEROKEE 2015, REQUIRING TOW FROM CHESTER, MD TO ALEXANDRIA, VA GIVEN THE VEHICLE COULD NO LONGER BE DRIVEN. DEALER NOW SUDDENLY HAS "RECALL FIX" (NOT AVAILABLE AFTER 9 PREVIOUS CALLS/MESSAGES BETWEEN 7/21/2020 - 8/22/2020 WHEN DEALER REPS NEVER RETURNED A MESSAGE/CALL). THEY CLAIM AS OF TODAY (AFTER JEEP WAS DROPPED AT DEALER BY TOW TRUCK), THE RECALL FIX HAS BEEN DONE - BUT SAY THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT IS STILL ON AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED/PAID FOR BY THE CUSTOMER. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE FURTHER RESULT OF NOT FIXING A DANGEROUS RECALL SITUATION WHICH COULD HAVE DAMAGED THE CAR BEYOND THE RECALL RELATED TO FRONT WHEELS, TRANSMISSION, LOSS OF POWER, LOSS OF PARK FUNCTION. MY VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING, ALL TRANSMISSION SERVICE/ABS AND PARKING BRAKE SERVICE LIGHTS WENT ON SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THE JEEP ROLLED BACKWARD UNTIL I TURNED IT OFF. THANKFULLY I HAD GOTTEN OFF OF BUSY HIGHWAY AND EXPERIENCED THIS AT AN EXIT AND THEN PARKING LOT WHERE I WAIVED OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME, PARKED THE VEHICLE AND THEN IT WAS PLACED ON A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK. DEALERS ARE NOT TAKING THIS RECALL SERIOUSLY. MORE DETAILS ATTACHED. THE ISSUE HAS NOT YET BEEN RESOLVED BY OURISMAN ALEXANDRIA WHERE MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND IS STILL LOCATED.
CAR ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR MONTHS NOW THE CAR LAGS WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR HAS BEEN STOPPING STARTING THE P SHIFT WARNING MESSAGE I WOULD HAVE TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON FOR THE CAR TO START DRIVING AGAIN I'VE BEEN TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ALL THEY WERE SAYING WAS I NEEDED ANOTHER OIL CHANGE SO WHEN THE CAR STARTED SHUTTING OFF AGAIN I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE MOTOR WAS CONSUMING TO MUCH OIL AND MY ENGINE WAS GOING OUT STATING THAT THE ENGINE THAT WAS BUILT FOR THIS MODEL CAR WASN'T BUILT CORRECTLY MIND YOU MY CAR JUST MADE FIVE YEARS I SHOULDN'T BE HAVING TO REPLACE MY ENGINE AT THIS TIME
CONTINUALLY RECEIVING A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ERROR MESSAGE AND ALL GEAR LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP (PARK REVERSE NEUTRAL DRIVE). HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND REQUIRES THAT YOU STOP AND RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO AWAY. JEEP DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THIS AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS. AT FIRST WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. THEN THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE SHIFTER. TODAY THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. HAVE READ ABOUT MANY OTHER CASES ONLINE FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS.
INDICATOR SAYS TO "SERVICE SHIFTER" I WANT TO KNOW IF MY CAR HAS A RECALL NOTICE.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STUDDERING WHILE IN DRIVE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. IT'S HEAVILY STALLS BEFORE TAKING OFF AFTER A STOP. I WANT SURE IF I MOVED TO MANUAL TRANSMISSION UNTIL IT CONTINUED TO DO IT FOR A 45 MIN DRIVE FROM 0-65 IN SPEED. IT'S HAD THE HESITATION SINCE I GOT IT AND THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SMALLER V6 WHEN I WAS COMING FROM AN INFINITI M37. I CHECKED FLUIDS AND NO ALERT OR LIGHT ON INDICATING.

MY CAR STALLS AND SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING IT ALSO GIVES ME A MESSAGE TO SHIFT INTO PARK WHILE IN MOTION
When I go to put the the vehicle in park and reverse it wants to shift really hard, not really a shift but more of a jerk. It doesn’t happen every time but it does 50 percent of the time. There was this one time where i went to go put it in reverse and it wanted to rev more then usual. When it MAINLY shifts hard is when I first turn it on and start moving a couple feet it wants to fall on its face. We haven’t had any incidents in it yet but I wanted to see if I could get anything done before any. Me and my boyfriend travel a lot and when we are in traffic it has fallen on its face. There is a gas cap light that keeps coming on and I have replaced my gas cap 2 times.
THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR WILL DING AND AN ALARM ON MY SCREEN POPS UP THAT SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL OF LIGHTS ON MY GEAR SHIFTER TURN ON. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING EVERYTIME IT HAS HAPPENED. I CAN NO LONGER SEE MY SCREEN WHERE IT SHOWS SPEED, GAS, TIRE PRESSURE, OIL, OR ANYTHING. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN IT OFF IS TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND SOMETIMES I HAVE BEEN ON AN INTERSTATE WHERE THAT WASN'T POSSIBLE TO DO IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING DEALERSHIPS BUT NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON BRAKE BOOSTERS FOR THE YEARS BEFORE MY JEEP. MY BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED IN VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING A ACCIDENT.
SERVICE SHIFTER AND SERVICE 4WD LIGHTS COME UP ON DASH AND THE SHIFTER PRND LIGHTS COME ON AT SHIFTER ON START UP AND WHILE DRIVING AND HAVE TO CUT SWITCH ON AND OFF IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT AT TIMES
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON I HAVE SEEN THIS CAUSES BRAKES TO EVENTUALLY LOCK UP AND CAUSE ACCIDENTS BUT HAVE NOT SEE A RECALL
IF I'M COMING UP ON A RED LIGHT AND IT TURNS GREEN BEFORE I HAVE TO STOP WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL IT HESITATES TO GO THEN IT JUMPS FORWARD VERY HARD. ALSO IF I'M PULLING OUT SOMETIMES FROM A COMPLETE STOP IT WILL DO THE SAMETHING BY HESITATING THEN JUMPING FORWARD.
When I purchased the vehicle in 2015 with 5000 miles the check engine light was on and the transmission was replaced and I have always had issues when accelerating and it shifting loudly and more recently check engine light turns off and on.
APPROX. 4:45PM WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS 117, I WAS PARKED, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, WAITING TO PICK UP MY DOG AT THE VET. I HAD JUST DRIVEN 15 MILES TO THIS LOCATION = 25 MINUTES. WAITED OVER 20 MINUTES FOR DOG TO BE BROUGHT TO CAR. WHEN READY TO LEAVE, CAR WOULD NOT START, ALL SERVICE/DASH LIGHTS COME ON. (HAD AIR, RADIO, LIGHTS} WAITED OVER 40 MINUTES AND FINALLY CAR STARTED. DROVE DIRECTLY HOME, AGAIN THE 15 MILES IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES, BACKED INTO DRIVEWAY, PUT CAR IN PARK (DID NOT TURN ENGINE OFF), TOOK DOG INSIDE. WHEN PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE TO PUT CAR IN GARAGE, CAR STALLED OUT. THIS WAS TWICE IN ONE DAY!! THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS ON VERY HOT DAYS. WHY NO RESEARCH/RECALL ON THIS STALLING OUT ISSUE??
THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS COMES ON. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM LAST YEAR IN MAY AND THEY STATED THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. NOW I AM HAVING THE SAME SERVICE LIGHT TO COME ON. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE I AM DRIVING. BUT NOT EVERY TIME. I AM NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT THEY FIXED BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY EITHER REALLY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM OR PUT ON BAD PARTS
CAR SHIFTS ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, UNABLE TO DRIVE OVER 20MPH AFTER FINALLY GETTING IT IN GEAR
VEHICLE DIES AT SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. NO WARNING ONLY ONE ERROR WHEN IT HAPPENS PERTAINING TO THE START/STOP SYSTEM NEEDING SERVICE. HAS ALSO HAPPENED SITTING IN A PARKING LOT AT IDLE. OIL LEVEL IS GOOD. BATTERY IS NEW. DEALER REPLACED THE PCU BUT PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN THE SAME DAY WE LEFT THE DEALER. SO FAR THEY HAVE HAD IT ANOTHER WEEK AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NO OBDII ERROR CODES.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER ALERT COMES ON EVERY TIME I START THE CAR ALMOST. IT STARTED PERHAPS A MONTH AGO OR SO. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WOULD CLEAR IT OFTEN BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVERTIME. IT NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. I WORRY THAT IT MAY GO OUT AND THE POLAR IS VERY GENERIC. THAT'S CALLED A COUPLE OF MECHANICS INCLUDING DEALER AND THEY'RE EQUALLY GENERIC ABOUT WHAT IT MAY BE, AND JUST TO GET IT LOOKED AT WILL COST ME $120 AN HOUR. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS THERE WITHIN MY POWER TO TROUBLESHOOT WAS TO MAKE SURE FIRMWARE WAS UP-TO-DATE AND I HAVE DONE THAT BUT THE ALERT IS STILL THERE.
STEREO SYSTEM: SYSTEM REMAIN ON AND CAN NOT TURN IT OFF, WHETHER VEHICLE IS RUNNING OR STOPPED. I HAVE REMOVED KEYS FROM IGNITION, GOTTEN OUT OF CAR, SHUT DOORS AND SYSTEM REMAINS ON AND IT HAS STAYED ON ANYWHERE FROM 5 TO 10 MINUTES. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE.

DEALERSHIP REPLACED AT LESS THAN 1,000 MILES AND WON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT A "QUICK LEARN" PROCEDURE WHICH IS BOGUS AND WASTES MY TIME. IT CLUNKS/SLAMS GEARS BETWEEN DOG CLUTCHES, I HAVE TO FLOOR IT TO GET IT TO DOWNSHIFT (AND IT'LL GO FROM SAY, 5TH GEAR TO 2ND GEAR, CAUSING PEEL OUTS), THE SHIFT QUALITY IS AWFUL ESPECIALLY IN LOWER GEARS; IT HESITATES BETWEEN R AND D (SOMETIMES 2-3 SECONDS), AND DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER AFTER SEVERAL DEALERSHIP VISITS. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train) was completed however, the failure had been recurring. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, she heard an abnormal sound, and the warning message "Service Four Wheel Drive" illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the Power Transfer Unit and emergency brake had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist, and she would be responsible for the cost of the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.
