VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT LEFT THE ROAD. I SWERVED TO MISS A DOG. I HAD MY SEATBELT ON DURING THIS ACCIDENT HOWEVER MY HEAD (TOP, RIGHT FRONT OF MY HEAD) HIT THE WINDSHIELD GLASS AND THE GLASS BROKE/SHATTERED. MY HAIR WAS CAUGHT IN THE BROKEN CRACKS OF THE GLASS ON THE WINDSHIELD AND MY HAIR WAS PULLED OUT OF MY HEAD, I GUESS WHEN THE SEATBELT PULLED ME BACK INTO POSITION IT MANAGED TO KEEP MY HAIR LODGED. I GOT SMALL PIECES OF GLASS OUT OF MY SCALP FOR A WEEK. I HAD OTHER INJURIES AS WELL. EVERY SINGLE AIRBAG OF THIS CAR WAS DEPLOYED AND MY VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. I WAS ONLY GOING AROUND 45 MPH. I AM THANKFUL TO BE HERE SHARING THIS PASSAGE. I JUST HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE OUT HOW I MANAGED TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE MY SEATBELT WAS ON MY BODY AND THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*DT*JB
AN ERROR THAT CONTINUES TO COME AND GO IS TO 'SERVICE SHIFTER.' IT IS APPARENT THERE ARE MOMENTS THAT THE SHIFTER SPUTTERS, THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS (AUTOMATIC) AND REFUSE TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON FOR THIS. DEAL SHIPS DO NOT SEEM TO ACT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT IT SEEMS EXTREMELY PREVALENT ONLINE. IT APPEARS TO BE BASED ON A FAULTY SHIFT IN THE VEHICLE OR BAD WIRING. HOWEVER, THE DEAL SHIPS ACT LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG BUT WILL CHANGE IT FOR YOU FOR AROUND $7,000. THE CAR SPUTTERING AND REFUSING TO SHIFT WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FROM FAULTY COMPONENTS AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. IT'S CLEAR A RECALL IS NEEDED FOR THIS. *TR
AROUND MAY 2020 I WAS CONTACTED BY JEEP FOR A RECALL I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT; GOT HER IN QUICK FOR THE PTU INPUT SPLINE. THERE WERE NO ISSUES BEFORE THIS. THE UPDATE WAS ATEMPTED BUT NOT COMPLETED. FROM THERE, I EXPEREINCED SEVERAL ISSUES. PROBLEMS STARTED WITH ALERTS DISPLAYING FOR NO REASON WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. TOOK HER TO ANOTHER DEALER WHERE THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE/LOOKED AT THE POWER TRAIN. WHEN "FINISHED" I PULLED OUT TO MY JEEP MAKNG A POPPING NOISE AND ROUGH DRIVE. WHEN I PARKED, THERE WAS FLUID SPILLING OUT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL AND SPLATTERED OVER THE REAR OF THE JEEP. THE DEALER STRIPPED A PLUG; WASNT SEATED CORRECTLY AND POPPED OFF FROM PRESSURE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES CONCERNING THE DRIVETRAIN TO INCLDE HARD JUMPING INTO GEAR (ESPECIALLY INTO 1ST FROM A STOP), ROUGH DOWN SHIFT, AND TRANSFER CASE DAMAGE. MOST RECENT ISSUE IS HARD SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND RADIATOR LEAK. I DID TAKE HER IN BEFORE MY POWERTRAIN WARRANY RAN OUT BUT THERE WAS APPARENTLY NO ISSUE - THEY ONLY DROVE IT A FEW MILES. I ATTRIBUTE ALL ISSUES TO INCOMPLETE MAINTENECE AND UNKNOWLEDGABLE STAFF. THE MAIN ISSUE BEING COMPUTERS; WHEN NOT SERVICED PROPERLY, A CHAIN REACTION OCCURS THROUGOUT COMPONENTS. AN ISSUE CAN ARRISE WHERE YOU LEAST EXPECT IT. I CONTACTED NATIONAL LEVEL JEEP FOR HELP; NO AVAIL.
THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES HESITATES TO ACCELERATE WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS AFTER COMING TO A ROLLING STOP OR A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAPPENS WITH THE AUTO START/STOP OFF. I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY OTHER TIME I DRIVE. *TR
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WITH ENGINE RUNNING AND MOTOR DIED WOULD NOT RESTART. MOTOR WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT RESTART. SINCE VEHICLE WAS IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA, PUT IN NEUTRAL AND FOLKS HELPED PUSH IT TO A SAFE AREA. CALLED TOW TRUCK. TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID IT ACTED LIKE A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM, SO HE CHECKED THE FUSE FOR FUEL PUMP,IT WAS BLOWN, SO HE REPLACED. VEHICLE STARTED AND RAN FOR A MINUTE OR SO THEN MOTOR DIED. HE CHECKED FUSE AND IT HAD BLOWN AGAIN, SAID FUEL PUMP WAS BAD. TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP. AFTER INSPECTION BY SHOP, WAS TOLD THAT THEY "FOUND FUEL PUMP SHORTING OUT INTERNALLY CAUSING FUSE TO BLOW, NECESSARY TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP AND FUSE." FIXED AND TEST DROVE CORRECTED PROBLEM. PER SERVICE INVOICE A MODULE KIT, FUEL PUMP/LEVEL UNIT PART NUMBER 68231311AB WAS REPLACED. SINCE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 45990 MILES ON IT, SERVICE MANAGER SAID TO FILE WITH NHTSA SINCE THE JEEP CORP. HAS HAD MANY FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS IN THE PAST. HE HAS BEEN SEEING A RASH OF THIS SAME ISSUE LATELY. SAID COULD BE A RECALL FOR A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN A VEHICLE JUST DIES WITH NO WARNING. *TR
I PURCHASED MAY JEEP CHEROKEE IN DECEMBER 2017. ON THE FIRST HOT DAY OF MAY 2020, I WENT INTO MY CAR, AND NOTICED THE DASHBOARD AREA ALONG WITH THE VENTS, HAD BEGAN TO MELT! IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE, BUT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SUN. WHEN I TOUCHED THE VENT, MY FINGERS WERE COVERED IN THIS BLACK, GOOEY SUBSTANCE. NOT ONLY IS THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR DESTROYED, BUT MY CONCERN IS WHETHER THIS SUBSTANCE IS HAZARDOUS. ARE THERE CHEMICALS IN THE PAINT OR ANY TOXIC ELEMENTS? I HAVE SHOWED THE PHOTOS OF THE PROBLEM TO MANY PEOPLE. AND EVERYONE HAS THE SAME ANSWER, WHICH IS, "I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE." I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE I PURCHASED MY JEEP. MY AGENT IS CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO THIS. THE SECOND PROBLEM INVOLVES THE SHIFTER. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ARE LIT UP. I HAVE ALREADY HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE I THOUGHT I WAS IN "PARK" BUT IT TURNED OUT I WAS IN REVERSE. I FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN MY RESEARCH.*DT*JB*DT*JB*DT*JB*DT*JB
I HAVE WARNING LIGHTS KEEP FLASHING OUT OF CONTROL 3 LIGHTS KEEP STAYING ON THAT IS TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM AND CHECK ENGINE AND START STOP SYSTEM , PUT A CODE READER ON VEHICLE AND IT SAYS TRANSMISSION MODULE MY CAR WILL REV UP WHILE I N GEAR HESITATE AND THEN JERK REAL FAST AND START GOING SUPER FAST WITHOUT MY FOOT ON GAS. WHEN I SHIFT THE GEARS INTO REVERSE FROM PARK OR PUT IN PARK IT MAKES A LOUD CLUNK NOISE AND SHIFTS HARD. ALSO THE TAILGATE WHEN OPENING WILL OPEN UP AND IMMEDIATELY SHUT ON ME AND HAS HIT MY HEAD A FEW TIMES AND TRIED SHUTTING WITH ME IN THE WAY. I'VE REPORTED PROBLEMS TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES THEY SEND ME TO A DEALERSHIP FOR JEEP AND THEY TELL ME BATTERY NEEDS RESET AND SENT ME ON MY WAY AND I ASKED TO HAVE TRANSMISSION LOOKED AT AND THEY HAVE NO TRANSMISSION TECH. WHILE IN MOTION ILL TAKE MY FOOT OFF GAS TO SLOW DOWN WHEN COMING TO A CORNER OR STOP AND IT WILL SPEED UP ON ITS OWN CAUSING ME TO SLAM BREAKS QUICKLY. I FEEL UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. IM NOT THE FIRST OWNER I WAS FINANCED THROUGH BUD CLARY AND THEY CAN NEVER HELP ME ALWAYS SEND ME TO NCCHORDS DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IF THERE IS ANY AVAILABILITY APPOINTMENTS. THE ISSUES I HAVE WITH VEHICLE ARE CONTINUOUS . REALLY STARED BAD WITH LIGHTS A FEW WEEKS AGO. HAD CAR SERVICED FOR REG SERVICE DATE ON 11TH AND THEY COULDN'T HELP WITH MY ISSUES RECOMMENDS ME MAKE APPOINTMENT WITH OTHER DEALERSHIP. ILL PUT THE ISSUES WITH CAR WHEN ITS BEEN A EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE TO THUS LAST MAY ON 1ST. I BOUGHT CAR ALMOST 1 YR AGO AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE DAY 1 JUNE 27TH 2019. *TR
MY CAR HAS CUT OFF TWICE. TOOK CAR TO FIRESTONE THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. HAD AN OIL CHANGE SINCE I WAS THERE. CALLED A CHRYSLER DEALER WHILE WAITING JUST TO FIND OUT OTHER PEOPLE WITH MY CAR HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. CAR CUTTING OFF. THEN ABLE TO RESTART. THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. IT ONLY COMES ON WHILE I AM DRIVING. IF I SHUT THE JEEP OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON IT TEMPORARILY DISAPPEARS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M GOING 10 MILES OR 70 MILES, IT RANDOMLY COMES ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME UNLESS I DRIVE IT THERE WITH THE LIGHT STILL ON. I KNOW NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL? DOES IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL OR THE WIRING HARNESS THAT WEARS OUT FOR THE GEAR SHIFTER????
VEHICLE JUMPS BACK WHEN EXITING OFF INTERSTATE AT HIGH SPEED TO LOWER SPEED. ONCE YIELDED OR STOPPED AND HIT GAS PEDAL TO MOVE, VEHICLE JUMPS, POPS, DOESN'T ENGAGE TO MOVE FORWARD ON ACCELERATION. WHEN STOPPING AT A SIGN, HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY STOPPED SO VEHICLE KICKS BACK THEN WHEN ACCELERATING, THERE IS A HESITATION. VEHICLE KINDA LEAPS FORWARD AT FASTER SPEED THEN WHAT PRESSURE IS ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES.
AT STARTUP OF VEHICLE IN PARK AND KEYING ON, POWERTRAIN PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, 4WD TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE, SERVICE PARK BRAKE, SERVICE TRANSMISSION, FLASHING TRACTION CONTROL ALL HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME. WHILE IN MOTION, TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT BUT IS VERY ROUGH AND STARTS IN 4TH GEAR. ALSO THE 'D' IS FLASHING AND ODOMETER FLASHES WHILE IN MOTION. *TR
NO ACCELERATION, RPM STUCK AT 5000 FOR AN EXTENDED TIME BEFORE DROPPING, CLUNK NOISE, HARD SHIFT ESPECIALLY INTO PARK. BETWEEN 60,000 AND 70,000 MILES HAD 3 MAJOR REPAIRS.
SHIFT GEAR PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING
WHEN DRIVING, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFTER (P,R,N,D,1,2) COME ON. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF TO CLEAR THE ISSUE. YOU ALSO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE CONCERN THAT THE SHIFTER WON'T WORK WHEN YOU TRY TO SWITCH MODES. *TR
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH FIRST CAME ON IN DECEMBER 2018 - I TOOK IT TO LARRY MILLER DODGE, THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT. NOW, I'M GETTING THAT SAME MESSAGE AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO LARRY MILLER DODGE, AND WAS TOLD FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND FIX, IT HAS TO BE ON BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. I DON'T RECALL THEM TELLING ME THAT THE LAST TIME I HAD IT IN FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. IN READING ONLINE, THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON CARGURUS WEBSITE ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE. THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" COMES ON THE DASH, AND ALL THE RED LIGHTS LIGHT UP BY THE SHIFTER. SO FAR, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES OCCUR WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE OR START THE CAR. BUT IT'S STARTING TO APPEAR MORE FREQUENTLY. I WOULD SAY IT'S COME ON APPROX. 6-7 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. IT HAS COME ON BOTH IN MOTION AND JUST GETTING IN THE VEHICLE TO LEAVE IN THE MORNING. IT HAD HAPPENED BOTH IN THE CITY, AND ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
"Service Shifter" light comes on. When this happens, the 9 speed shifter stops working. Also, all of the vehicle information system shuts off.
I WAS DRIVING CAME TO A STOP A STOP SIGN, I STARTED TO GO AND MY JEEP JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. IT WOULDNT MOVE OR ROLL. I GAVE IT GAS AND IT JUST RUM THE ENGINE UP. IT WOULDN'T MOVE AND CARS WERE COMING AT ME. IT SCARED ME. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A CEMENT TRUCK. LIGHTS ON ALL THE SHIFTING LIT UP. SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON. MILEAGE STARTED FLASHING. SOME LIGHT WITH CAR AND WAVY ROADS LIGHT CAME ON. IT JUST STOPPED ROLLING WHILE DRIVING .2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE ONLY 69,000 MILES.
HAS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND SAYS SERVICE PARK BRAKE. THE TRACTION AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT IS ON. IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. JERKS REALLY BAD AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN YOU CAN GET IT TO SHIFT. MY JEEP WAS PARKED OUT FRONT OF MY HOUSE.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY DRIVER SIDE LIGHT BULB 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS . I KEEP SPENDING 60-80$ FOR THESE REPLACEMENTS JUST FOR IT TO GO OUT IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. MY PASSAGES SIDE HAS NEVER GONE OUT , ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE . THE BULB ISN'T BURNT OUT , YET IT WON'T TURN ON . IT DID THIS WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY AT A STOP SIGN WAITING TO TURN OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD. LUCKILY MY FOG LIGHTS, WHICH HAVE NEVER WENT OUT ON ME, HELP ME SEE THE ROADS AT NIGHT . I JUST CAN'T RISK DRIVING AND GETTING A TICKET FOR THE HEADLIGHT OUT BUT I ALSO CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING THE ONE BULB THAT CONSTANTLY GOES OUT . THERE ISN'T ANY CONDENSATION IN THERE EITHER SO I'M NOT SURE WHY IT KEEPS GOING OUT .
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE BATTERY DIED WE CHANGED IT TO A NEW ONE AND IT GAVE AN ERROR. THE GEARBOX GETS STUCK ONCE IN N, WHEN ITS IN N IT WONT CHANGE TO D OR R.
HAD BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT I NEED NEW FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS AGAIN. THERE IS CHUGGING WITH MY TRANSMISSION, AND A LOT OF VIBRATION. I AM UNABLE TO UPLOAD ANYTHING WITHOUT HAVING A MECHANIC TAKE EVERYTHING APART TO EXPOSE IT, AND I CAN'T AFFORD THAT AT THIS TIME.
WHILE DRIVING 30-55MPH ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE CAR LOST ALL POWERSTEERING AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON! TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE , WOULDN'T RESTART FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SET BEFORE OR AFTER NO OTHER DRIVEABILITY PROBLEMS PRESENT DURING THIS TIME

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH SEVERAL SHIFT OPTION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE WAS OCCASIONALLY SELF CORRECTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOTIFIED HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. INVALID VIN.

THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE ERROR MESSAGE DISAPPEARED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHAMPION CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF LANSING (6525 W SAGINAW HWY, LANSING, MI 48917) TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,833.
WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND AT ALL RATES OF SPEED, WHILE BRAKING, WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRONICS HAVE SHUT OFF. DIFFICULT TO SAFELY EXIT THE ROAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART IT. HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS NOW.
DRIVING ON HWY. AND IT SAYS "PUT IN PARK" AND STOPS RUNNING. AFTER I PUT IT IN PARK THEN TRIED TO CRANK, WOULD NOT CRANK.
ZF 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION, IT IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE IN A LOW SPEED CITY DRIVING CONDITION, AT A LOW SPEED WHEN I PRESS GAS CAR WONT MOVE AND THEN SUDDENLY CAR JUMPS . JUST LIKE WHEN YOU RELEASE CLATCH IN A MANUAL CAR AT A HIGH RPM ,
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON ALMOST CONSTANTLY AND WILL NOT GO OFF. YOU CANNOT CLEAR IT UNLESS YOU PARK THE CAR TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.
MY 2015 JEEP ONLY HAS JUST OVER 45K MILES ON IT AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED. IT CAUSED A BURNING SMELL TO ENTER MY CAR WHEN I HAD THE AIR ON
OIL COOLING HOUSING CRACKED IT COST ME $624 TO REPLACE. THE HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC, THERE'S NO WAY THAT'S GOING LAST WITH THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE
IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER (P R N D) TURN RED. SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARS IN DISPLAY AND REMAINS UNTIL VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. WILL NOT DISPLAY ODOMETER OR ANY OTHER INFO WHILE SERVICE SHIFTER IS DISPLAYED.
CAR LOSES POWER IN THE FIRST 3-7 MINUTES OF DRIVING. I AM STARTING MY CAR, PULLING OFF, AND THE CAR LOSES POWER, SAYS SOMETHING PUTTING THE CAR IN PARKING GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROUTE 46 CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE LOCATED AT 1655 US-46, LITTLE FALLS, NJ 07424 (973) 339-7752, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER NUMBER 3. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V676000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,262.
WENT TO START VEHICLE AND ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS A MESSAGE WHICH READ "SERVICE SHIFTER". WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE. LATER RESTARTED VEHICLE AND MESSAGE WAS GONE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT IT APPEARS THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE ON THIS SITE.
SERVICE SHIFTER KEEPS COMING ON. I'VE TRIED TAKING IT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BUT IT'S ALWAYS OFF WHEN I TAKE IT AND THEY TELL ME THAT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM IF IT'S NOT COMMUNICATED THAT IT HAS ONE!
NOT SWITCHING GEARS PROPERLY. THERE'S A HARD JERK/THRUST WHILE TRYING TO AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH GEARS. THOUGHT I GOT REAR ENDED HOW HARD IT JERKED! WHILE TURNING ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY CAR HAS WENT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. WHICH CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. ALMOST DID! THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAN'T RECALL SPECIFIC DATES AND TIMES BUT JUST RECENTLY ON 02/09/2020
SINCE 2015 WHEN THE JEEP WAS PURCHASED I HAVE HAD SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE RPMS WOULD GO UP TO 3 OR 4 AND I WAS NOT ACCELERATING THE GAS WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT ACTED LIKE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS . THE JEEP DEALER COULD NOT FINE ANYTHING WRONG AND WOULD UPDATE THE COMPUTER, IT WOULD LAST FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND THEN THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN. ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 8TH 2020 I PARKED THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT AND RETURNED 3 HOURS LATER TO A CAR THAT WOULD NOT START , LIGHTS WOULD WORK AND THE BATTERY APPEARED DEAD. I GOT A HOTSHOT TO TRY TO START THE CAR. IT DID START BUT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING , NO POWER BRAKES, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND THE LIGHTS WERE CLICKING OFF AND ON. THE CODE STATED SERVICE TRANSMISSION RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE AT ZERO SPEED. AND WOULD CHANGE TO SERVICE PARK BRAKE. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE CAR IT WOULD TURN ON AGAIN AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY WILL LOOK AT IT ON MONDAY FEB, 10TH. I WILL KNOW MORE AT THAT TIME.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN L HEARD A LOUD BANG. MY CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY CAUSING ME TO SWERVE. I THEN HEARD THE WIND COMING IN FROM MY MOONROOF . I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY TO ASSESS WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN MY MOONROOF WITH THE REST OF THE GLASS PROTRUDING UPWARD. NOTHING HIT MY MOONROOF IT HAD EXPLODED.
TRANSMISSION LURCHES WHEN SHIFTING GOING DOWN THE ROAD. HESITANT TO START MOVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN COASTING DOWN HILL FEELS AS IF TRANSMISSION SHIFTS IN TO NEUTRAL AND VEHICLE BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. ALL INSTANCES WERE ON CITY STREETS.
MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. KICKING EVERYTIME SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER.
WHILE MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING TO A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT, THE 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 45MPH WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURRED. THE JEEP FINALLY SLOWED TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN TURNED ON AGAIN. WHEN PLACED IN 'DRIVE' THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD THUD. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN 'PARK' IT MADE A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE'S PARKING BRAKE SUDDENLY ENGAGED AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF; THIS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE WAITED 30MIN FOR A TOW TRUCK TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TO A FIRESTONE FOR EVALUATION. FIRESTONE INDICATED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WE THEN HAD TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO WHITTEN BROTHERS JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL LIKELY NOT BE COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY DUE TO THE TIME REQUIREMENT. THE 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE ONLY HAS 83,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN JAN 2016 AND EXPECTED THE VEHICLE TO LAST 15-20 YEARS. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING TO WORK INSTEAD OF A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT, SHE COULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE WITH VEHICLES DRIVING 65+ MPH; THIS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES TO MY WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT JEEP IS OBVIOUSLY NOT TAKING SERIOUSLY.
UPON SLOWING DOWN AROUND 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTS TO ACCELERATE REQUIRING A HARDER PRESS ON THE BRAKE. IF I LET OFF THE GAS AROUND 40 MPH THE VEHICLE MAINTAINS SPEED BEFORE IT STARTS TO ACCELERATE. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE WILL JOLT AND THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON PUTTING IT IN A LIMP MODE WITH LITTLE FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN PRESSING THE GAS. THE DEALER SAID ITS THE ABS CONTROL MODULE BUT THE FACTORY WOULDN'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE DEALER COULDN'T PROVE IT WAS BAD. AT THAT POINT THE 2015 KL TRAILHAWK HAD AROUND 33000 34000 MILES ON IT AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AT 86,000 MILES, WENT OFF AFTER TURNING MY VEHICLE OFF. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SEE NOTHING WRONG, NO CODES, NOTHING. IT JERKS A LOT WHEN AT SLOW SPEEDS PULLING OUT SOMEWHERE AND GOING DOWN A HILL.
BEGINNING IN 2018 UNTIL PRESENT, THE 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE DELAYS SHIFTING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. THIS TYPICALLY OCCURS WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN, OR YIELD SIGN. THE RESULT IS A HESITATION OF THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD FOLLOWED BY A SUDDEN LURCH FORWARD. THIS DANGEROUS MANEUVER HAS CAUSED MANY NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS AND IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
