WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, LOCKING THE STEERING WHEEL AND RENDERING THE BRAKES AND THE GAS INEFFECTIVE... THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND IT SHUT OFF. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP, SHIFT TO PARK, AND RESTART THE ENGINE... IT PROCEEDED TO HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES, NO MATTER HOW FAST I WAS DRIVING.
I HAVE A "SERVICE SHIFTER" ERROR ILLUMINATING ON MY SCREEN AND ALL THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ON THE SHIFT ITSELF. I TURN THE CAR BACK OFF AND THE LIGHTS GO AWAY, BUT THEY ALWAYS COME BACK ON. THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ONLINE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE FORUMS EVERYWHERE ABOUT THIS. MANY PEOPLE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND GET IT FIXED AND IT DOESN'T FIT THE PROBLEM, JUST CREATES NEW ONES SO THEY ARE WASTING THEIR MONEY. MY ISSUE HAPPENS WHEN MY CAR IS IN PARK. NOT WHILE MOVING.
AFTER 10 DAYS VEHICLE STAYING IN MY HOUSE NOT USING I TRIED TO START ENGINE AND MY BATTERY WAS DOWN. BUY NEW BATTERY AND INSTAL AND WHEN I START THE ENGINE I GET ON MY DASH BUNCH OF WARNING LIGHTS ON AND MESSAGE. SERVICE PARKING BRAKE MY TRANSMISSION NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND WHEN YOU TRY TO SWITCH FROM PARKING TO DRIVE OR REVERSE GETTING CLUNK NOISE AND DRIVING ONLY IN ONE SPEED MAYBE 4 OR 5TH SPEED ON DASH BLINKING D OR R AND ODOMETER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR TIRE ROTATION, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE LUG NUTS, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE RAMEY CHEVROLET CHRYSLER DEALER, LOCATED AT 27992 GOVERNOR G C PEERY HWY, TAZEWELL, VA 24651, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LUG NUTS EXPANDED. THE TECHNICIAN APPLIED AMPLE FORCE TO REMOVE THE LOG NUTS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT IT WAS UNUSUAL FOR ALL THE LUG NUTS TO FAIL AT THE SAME TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000. *TR
CAR HAS 77000 MILES AND OFTEN HAS JERKY ACCELERATION. YESTERDAY, TRANSMISSION SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE AND CAR WOULD. IT ACCELERATE BYMEYONE 40MPH
I WAS APPROACHING A 4 WAY STOP WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, GOING APPROX. 10MPH. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP, MAKING ME GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITH VEHICLES TURNING INTO MY LANE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ROCK SOLID AND LOCKED UP, AND WAS UNABLE TO BE PRESSED. DURING THAT TIME THE SERVICE ELCTRONIC BRAKING LIGHT POPULATED ON MY DASHBOARD.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE THE WARNING CHIME GO OFF AND THE DASH READS "SERVICE SHIFTER"
WHEN I AM DRIVING MY CAR, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO INTO NEUTRAL. NORMALLY, I AM DRIVING 15-25 MPS, THE RADIO AND HEAT/AC IS OFF. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. WHEN IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL I PRESS THE BRAKE (WHICH IS HARD) AND I PUT THE CAR ON PARK AND AFTER THE THIRD OR FOURTH TRY, IT FINALLY TURNS ON. THE PROBLEM WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN DURING THE DAY. IT ONLY HAPPENS IN THE MORNINGS.
THE VEHICLES SERVICE SHIFTER COMES ON WHILE PARKED AND OR DRIVING (BOTH HIGHWAY AND CITY) LOCKING THE DASH AS WELL AS LIGHTING UP THE GEARS. NEEDS REPLACED, IF IT'S NOT IT'LL LOCK UP AND PREVENT THE CAR FROM BEING PUT INTO PARK OR OTHER GEARS.
ON AT LEAST 10 OCCASIONS FROM AUG 2017 - FEB 2020, WHILE DRIVING THE 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD LIGHT UP AND THE DISPLAY WOULD INDICATE "SERVICE SHIFTER." THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD DISAPPEAR ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND COULD NOT BE REPLICATED ON COMMAND FOR A MECHANIC TO EVALUATE.
I BOUGHT MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND LESS THAN A MONTH LATER I WAS ALREADY NOTICING THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM AS SOON AS I WOULD USE MY TURN SIGNAL. THIS CONTINUED FOR ABOUT A MONTH UNTIL I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOTICEABLY DIM ON BOTH SIDES. I NEEDED TO GET OUT OF MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE SURE THE HEADLIGHTS WERE EVEN ON. WHENEVER I AM DRIVING IN A LOW LIGHT AREA AT NIGHT IT IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT.
WHILE DRIVING, THE JEEP WILL TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY DUE TO THE ENGINE BURING TOO MUCH OIL. IT CAUSES A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY STOPS AND CAUSES OTHER CARS TO SWIRVE OR TO HIT THE CAR. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE IS NO WARNING TO IT AND NO OIL LIGHT TO TELL ME THE ENGINE IS LOW OF OIL. IT ALSO HAS SEVERAL OTHER WARNINGS THAT COME ON FOR NO REASON. THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT WILL COME ON AND STOP THE CAR FROM GOING INTO PARK, AGAIN CAUSING THE CAR AND PASSENGERS TO BE IN DANGER. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, EITHER GOING FAST OR SLOW. IT COMES WITHOUT WARNING AND WHEN I CALL ABOUT IT, THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO ALL WHO DRIVE THIS CAR AND CARS LIKE IT
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, WARNINGS AUTO/START/STOP SYSTEM FAILURE. 4WD TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. CAR STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. LOSES ACCELERATION CITY AND RURAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. ENGINE KNOCK FROM PREMATURE CAM SHAFT WEAR.
DRIVING ALONG, "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIGHT CAME ON. AT THE NEXT RED LIGHT, WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GO, ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR MOVED EXTREMELY SLOW LIKE IT WASN'T IN GEAR. THIS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I STOPPED AND STARTED ON THE RETURN HOME AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. I DROVE IT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN. HAD IT SERVICED AT DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SHORT IN WIRING HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. SEE CODE S55 PERTAINING TO TRANSMISSION MAY SHIFT UNEXPECTEDLY TO NEUTRAL. 2014 & 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE DATED AUG. 6, 2106.
SINCE NEW, WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION HESITATING AND LURCHING. FROM A STOP, OR FROM A SLOW SPEED SUCH AS WHEN COMING OUT OF TURNING A CORNER, THE TRANSMISSION WILL HESITATE TO "HOOK UP", AS THOUGH IT IS SLIPPING, THEN SUDDENLY THROW YOU FORWARD AS IT "HOOKS UP / CATCHES". IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AT AN INTERSECTION WHEN YOU MAY BE TRYING TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AS CROSS-TRAFFIC IS COMING, AND YOUR CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT THE SPEED YOU NEED IT TO, THEN SUDDENLY IT WILL LURCH FORWARD. AT OTHER TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WILL CLUNK AT 40 MPH AS THOUGH SOMEONE HAS STRUCK THE CAR FROM BEHIND. WE HAVE HAD THE SOFTWARE FLASHED BY THE DEALERSHIP TWO OR THREE TIMES. USUALLY THIS WORKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, BUT THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RETURNS. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION ISSUE IS THAT THE SHIFTER WILL MALFUNCTION, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, AND THROW AN ERROR CODE OF "SERVICE SHIFTER". WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN. AGAIN, VERY DANGEROUS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND MY SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STEP ON THE GAS AND THERE WAS A DELAY DURING ACCELERATION, I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC AND COULD NOT MOVE MORE THAN A FEW MILES PER HOUR, SO I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID BEING HIT. I WAITED A WHILE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN I TRIED DRIVING HOME, IT STARTED VERY SLOW UNTIL I GOT GOING AND THEN IT JERKED AND SHIFTED RANDOMLY. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT RESET/ UPDATED.

I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN MY JEEP NOW.
I WAS LEAVING MY NEIGHBORHOOD YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN MY JEEP SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND WOULD NOT START. THANKFULLY I WAS STILL CLOSE TO HOME AND WAS ABLE TO GO HOME IN NEUTRAL! WHAT IF I WERE ON THE HIGHWAY? OR IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! THE SCREEN SAID TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS STILL WORK BUT IT DOES NOT START. I AM FINANCING THIS JEEP AND HAVE HAD IT FOR 8 MONTHS FROM A DEALERSHIP. I DONT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARANTY AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THIS... I LOOKED UP ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND FOUND IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS TO MINE OF THEYRE NEW JEEPS JUST SHUTTING OFF MID DRIVE. THIS NEEDS TO BA ADDRESSED. IM TERRIFIED OF THIS CAR.
THE SHIFTER LIGHTS UP RED IN ALL DRIVE NUMBERS AND LETTERS, WHEN DRIVING AND SITTING STILL, HAVE TO TURN OFF ENGINE THEN IT STOPS. I DONT WANT PROBLEMS WITH THIS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO CHANGE SHIFTERS, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS, IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE!!

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ARMORY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF ALBANY (926 CENTRAL AVE, ALBANY, NY 12205, (518) 641-7777) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURES RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF CYLINDER MISFIRE, LOW OIL LEVEL, LOW ENGINE COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER #2, OIL LEAK IN CRANKCASE, AND SCORING ON TWO CYLINDERS. THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH A NEW ENGINE, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS SWAPPED AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WIRES REINSTALLED. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDED TO BE TORQUED TO SPECS AND THAT SOME NOISE FROM THE ENGINE WAS NORMAL OPERATION SOUNDS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE ISSUE WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF THE MORE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, CASE NUMBER: 71717548. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS LEAVING MY CONDOMINIUM, SOON AFTER STEPPING THE PEDAL, BRAKE THAT MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER, THEN VEHICLE STOPPED WALKING. I WAS TRYING TO CALL AGAIN, TO PARK THE SAME INSIDE MY PARKING SPACE INSIDE THE CONDOMINIUM, STARTED TO MAKE A VERY LUCKY NOISE AND NOT CALLING, HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE WITHOUT STARTING AND STILL CALL A WINCH, TO TAKE TO MY RELIABLE MECHANIC, THAT UNTIL TODAY WE CAN NOT FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THIS VEHICLE, WHENEVER WE PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE MESSAGE APPEARS AND DOES NOT START THE VEHICLE.
CAR WILL TURN OFF. TURN THE KEY AND PULL IT OUT, CAR STAYS RUNNING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, CAR IS IN A POSSESSED STATE WHERE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AT ALL TIMES, TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK, WIPERS DO NOT WORK, HORN DOES NOT WORK. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO CODES, SO NOTHING THEY CAN DO. PULL THE BATTERY CABLE OFF TO SHUT THE CAR DOWN. THIS WILL HAPPEN MID DRIVE SO ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU'LL LOSE YOUR TURN SIGNALS, WIPERS, HORN, BRAKE LIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS, AND MAIN LIGHT CONTROL. WHEN YOU PULL OVER, ONLY WAY TO TURN THE CAR OFF IS TO PULL THE BATTERY CABLE.
2015 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK. WAS PARKED WHEN SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T ALLOW VEHICLE TO DRIVE. COULD NOT DISENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE FOR ALMOST 2 HOURS. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN 2 DAYS. SET UP SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID WATER WAS GETTING INTO THE PARKING BRAKE MODULAR AND CORRODING IT IN THE WIRING HARNESS THE PARKING BRAKE MODULAR AND CORRODING IT AND THE WIRING HARNESS.
FAULTY OIL COOLER. HAVE REPLACED THIS PART 4 TIMES NOW AND THE OIL AND COOLANT STILL LEAKS EVERYWHERE. THE PART SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MADE OUT OF PLASTIC AND PLASTIC RUBBER GASKETS THAT ATTACHES TO A METAL FRAME. AND OF COURSE IT GOES OUT RIGHT OUT OF THE WARRANTY WINDOW.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE NOVEMBER 2018 AND HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED AS OF DECEMBER 2019 MY VEHICLE WOULD STALL, SHIFT, AND CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING WHICH VERY DANGEROUS NOT ONLY TO MYSELF, KIDS, AND OTHERS AROUND ME IN TRAFFIC.

THE CONTACT STATED ABOUT 5 MONTHS LATER, AT APPROXIMATELY 36,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERS WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, NOT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT THEN STATED THAT ABOUT 7 MONTHS LATER AT APPROXIMATELY 38,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ALSO DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR GEAR SHIFT ISSUE AS WELL AS A BLOWER MOTOR 3 TIMES. IF I REPLACE THIS BLOWER MOTOR IT WILL BE THE 3RD IN 2 YEARS. THE GEAR SHIFTING ISSUE WAS SUPPOSEDLY JUST AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE UPON RETURNING WITH THE SAME ISSUE I WAS TOLD AN ENTIRE GEAR SHIFT REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY ON MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. A SUPPOSED RECALL EXISTED BUT PER JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE IS WAS ONLY FOR CARS BUILD IN 2014 IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. HOWEVER IN A FOLLOW UP CALL TODAY 12/13/2019 JEEP WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY RECALL RELATED TO THE GEAR SHIFT OR ANY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS THAT WOULD AFFECT THE GEAR SHIFT OR TRANSMISSION. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST A TRACKING OF CALLS, EMAILS, REPORTING OF ALL RELATED ISSUES TO JEEPS BUILT IN 2014 LABELED AS 2015 THAT POTENTIALLY HAVE THESE ISSUES AND A RESPONSE TO HOW MANY VEHICLES NEED TO BE INCLUDED TO WARRANT A RECALL. THE VEHICLE ISSUES HAPPEN BOTH IN PARK, DRIVE, NEUTRAL AND IN REVERSE.

LET SIT OVERNIGHT AND DEALER INDICATES JEEP WILL ONLY GO IN REVERSE, LATER IN DAY SECOND TRY JEEP DRIVES FINE AND NO CODES TO REPORT A PROBLEM TO FIX. CANNOT IDENTIFY FAILURE SINCE NO "CODES" WERE AVAILABLE IN SYSTEM. DEALER DROVE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT PROBLEM OF GOING INTO NEUTRAL OCCURRING. I PICKED UP VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME. NEXT MORNING WHILE MAKING A SIGNALED LEFT TURN NO CITY STREET, JEEP GOES INTO NEUTRAL, COAST TO ADJACENT PARKING LOT CROSSING OVER ONE LANE AND STOP. VEHICLE ENGAGES INTO DRIVE SO I PROCEED. RETURNING HOME A FEW MINUETS LATER AND AT ABOUT 50 MPH JEEP AGAIN GOES INTO NEUTRAL, I REMOVE FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR BUT ENGINE ACCELERATES TO ABOUT 5500 TO 5800 RPM AS I COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD (QUITE SHAKEN AT THIS POINT DUE TO ACCELERATED ENGINE). CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON DURING THIS EPISODE. WAIT A FEW MINUETS TO CALM DOWN AND RESTART JEEP. TRANSMISSION ENGAGES AND RETURN TO DEALER. DEALER FINDS CODE IS DUE TO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHEEL SPEED AND ENGINE SPEED- NOT TRANSMISSION RELATED. SEVERAL SERVICE TECHS DRIVE JEEP THROUGHOUT THE DAY WITHOUT PROBLEM. LATER IN DAY DRIVER EXPERIENCES NEUTRAL CONDITION 3 TIMES WHILE TEST DRIVING- STILL NO CODES TO ID PROBLEM. ADVISER CONTACTS MOPAR EXTENDED WARRANTY (MAX CARE UNLIMITED MILEAGE) BUT CANNOT GET AUTH TO REPAIR WITHOUT "CODES". DEALER HAS OPENED A "STAR CASE" WITH FACTORY.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS MAJOR OPERATING ISSUES. I AM EXPERIENCING HARD SHIFTS, DELAYS IN POWER AT START AND IN MIDDLE OF TURNS. MOST SERIOUSLY NOW THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER OUT OF THE BLUE. I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN IT HAD NO POWER AND I HEARD A GRINDING NOISES FROM TRANSMISSION
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH IN FAST LANE OF MAJOR HIGH, SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE, ENGINE RPM INCREASED RAPIDLY AND LOSS OF POWER TRANSFER TO WHEELS AS IF IN NEUTRAL. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD (FORTUNATELY LIGHT TRAFFIC) AND AT ABOUT 25 MPH TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND I RETURNED TO HIGHWAY. IN ABOUT 5 MORE MILES SAME LOSS OF POWER TO WHEELS OCCURRED AND THEN RE-ENGAGED AS VEHICLE CAME TO STOP. FOLLOWING DAY, AFTER ABOUT 10 MILES WHILE AT 55 MPH, JEEP AGAIN LOST CONNECTION TO WHEELS AND ENGINE RPM INCREASED. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROADWAY (LOCAL COUNTY ROUTE WITH MODERATE 2-WAY TRAFFIC), STOPPED ENGINE. STARTED ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES BUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR (REVERSE, FWD ETC.) IN ANY SELECTED GEAR LOCATION. THIS JEEP HAS ACTIVE DRIVE II. HAD JEEP TOWED TO AUTHORIZED SERVICE. DEALER RESPONSE POSSIBLE OVERHEATED PTU, WILL REQUIRE FURTHER INVESTIGATION. MY RESEARCH INDICATES MAY BE PART OF RECALL S55/NHTSA 16V-529.
SHUTS OFF AFTER STARTING, DISPLAY SCREEN BLACKS OUT AND RADIO DOESN'T WORK, ENGINE LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF. HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING SETTINGS KEEP RESETTING TO HALFWAY BETWEEN HOT AND COLD. SHUTS OFF AND SLAMS INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL. GEARS DROP HEAVILY WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. COMPUTER KEEPS RESETTING. THESE THINGS USUALLY OCCUR AFTER STARTING AND PULLING AWAY. YOU NEED TO STOP AND RESTART THE JEEP. THESE THINGS HAVE ALSO OCCURRED AT 65MPH. THIS HAS STEADILY BEEN GETTING WORSE OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS.
THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IT TYPICALLY HAPPENS ON THE FIRST START OF THE DAY. THE CAR WILL RUN AND THEN START RUNNING REALLY ROUGH FOR NO REASON AND USUALLY STALLS OUT. TODAY IT RAN FINE AND STALLED OUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I ATTACHED SOME P CODES TO THE COMPLAINT AS WELL AS THEY CONSISTENTLY COME UP WITH THE ISSUE. I'VE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, THE 2ND CYLINDER COIL IGNITION START PACK AS THAT WAS ONE OF THE ISSUES FROM THE P CODES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I'M TAKING THIS INTO A JEEP DEALER ON 11/22. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THE ISSUE PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN FIND A SOLUTION. YET I NEVER GO PAST MY MILEAGE FOR MY SERVICES. I ALWAYS HAVE THAT TAKEN CARE OF WHEN DUE. NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME IN WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. NO MESSAGE OF WHY IT'S ON, BUT I DID NOTICE IT WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. NOW SOME OTHER LIGHT IS FLASHING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL IS ON.

ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE CONNECTOR WATER INTRUSION WHICH CAUSES THE MODULE TO SHORT OUT AND THE WIRING HARNESS CORROSION. THIS CAUSES THE PARKING BREAK TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE WITHOUT WARNING. THIS ALSO PROMPTS AN ERROR THAT THE 4WD IS UNAVAILABLE. CONFIRMED WITH PATRIOT JEEP IN OAKLAND MD THAT THE 4WD WILL NOT WORK ON 11/18/2019. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR TO MOVE FROM MY DRIVEWAY BY PUTTING MY SEAT BELT ON AND HOLDING THE BREAK, AND THEN PRESSING THE GAS TO RELEASE THE PARKING BREAK. MOPAR TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO FIND A BULLETIN PUBLISHED BY MOPAR ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT APPEARS THERE IS WATER GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE CAUSING CORROSION WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT IF SOMEONES BRAKE WOULD ENGAGE, OR 4WD WOULD FAIL IN INCLEMENT WEATHER.
HAVE HAD 2015 JEEP SINCE 19000 MILES NOTHING BUT ISSUES AFTER PURCHASE. SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON HAD IT LOOKED AT THEY FIXED THE SHIFTER. A MONTH LATER SAME LIGHT THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE WIRING AND A BEZEL. WELL GUESS WHAT'S BROKEN AGAIN AND I'M NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS PART KEEPS FAILING WHY DO I NEED TO KEEP PAYING FOR A BAD DESIGN. WHY CAN'T THEY FIGURE IT OUT. ALSO MY CAR HAS HAD A HARD SHIFT AT 40 MPH CANT WAIT FOR THAT BILL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST TEN TIMES WITHIN A SIX MONTH PERIOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB BAKER JEEP (5555 CAR COUNTRY DR, CARLSBAD, CA 92008), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
SO I HAVE 2 DIFFERENT ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION. SECONDLY WHEN COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TAKING OFF ONCE THE JEEP GETS TO ABOUT FOURTH OR FIFTH GEAR OR SO THE RPM GETS TO ABUT 3,000 BEFORE SWITCHING TO NEXT GEAR IT MAKES THIS HUGE KNOCK SOUND AND IT FEELS LIKE I JUST HIT A HUGE POT HOLE. BOTH THESE ISSUES ARE INTERMITTENT. BUT ITS REALLY SCARY WHEN HAPPENS WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. IT HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.

THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE DAY 1. WHEN YOU SHIFT TO DRIVE AND HIT THE GAS IT WILL MOVE FORWARD A FEW FEET AND THEN STOP AND STICK THERE. AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT WILL KICK REALLY HARD IN TO GEAR AGAIN. IT'S GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME AND NOW I DON'T DARE PULL AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN UNLESS I SEE NO CARS COMING FOR FEAR OF BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I'VE TAKEN BACK TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES TO HAVE IT FIXED BUT THEY'VE NEVER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THEY NEW IT WAS AN ISSUE WHEN IT WAS MANUFACTURED.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE CONSUMES OIL AT A FAST RATE AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WHEN LOW, WILL STALL UNEXPECTEDLY. NO WARNING, NO OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ALERTS, CAR SIMPLE STALLS. I AM AFRAID THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND ME AND ANY OCCUPANT WILL BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. I HAVE NOTICE THE SAME COMPLAINT NUMEROUS TIMES ON LINE.
THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVING ON 11/4. JEEP'S DOAGNOSTICS STATES THERE ARE ENGINE ISSUES SPECIFICALLY WITH THE CAMS PART WHICH CAUSES FOR THE CAR TO STALL UNEXPECTEDLEY AND CAUSE MAJOR RISK LEADING TO ACCIDENT AND DEATH. THE ENGINE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND PROPERLY MAINTAINED. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 4-YEAR OLD CAR/ENGINE TO FAIL WITH THAT SHORT LIFE SPAN
