TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARMAX (18020 HAWTHORNE BLVD, TORRANCE, CA 90504, (310) 896-3810) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEATS WERE NOT LATCHED CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO SCOTT ROBINSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (20900 HAWTHORNE BLVD, TORRANCE, CA 90503, 424 299-8800) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR SEATS WERE NOT ATTACHED CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
THE VEHICLE POWERTRAIN / 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY AGGRESSIVELY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATES GOING FORWARD. THIS RESULTS IN A "PEEL OUT" AND IS VERY UNSAFE. WHEN PULLING OUT OF INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE DOES NOT WANT TO GO FORWARD, ALMOST AS THOUGH IT'S IN NEUTRAL, THEN SHIFTS AGGRESSIVE AND LURCHES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIME! MERGING ON TO HIGHWAYS, TURNING ON TO BUSY ROADS, OR SIMPLY PULLING OUT FROM AN INTERSECTION INTO TRAFFIC DOES NOT HAVE PROPER RESPONSE (OR NONE AT ALL) IN ACCELERATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN A DEADLY COLLISION. AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE VEHICLE, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING TO PASS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS TRANSMISSION BEING UNSAFE. WHEN I TOOK THE NEWLY PURCHASED VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR CHECK UP AND OIL CHANGE, I MENTIONED IT TO THEM BUT THERE WAS NO FIX. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX ISSUE. PLEASE TELL ME THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL IS BEING ADDRESSED! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR RESPONSE AND ACTION.
LIFTGATE WILL NOT STAY UP WHEN OPENED. VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND THE IGNITION WAS OFF. I OPENED THE LIFTGATE TO GET ITEMS OUT OF BACK OF VEHICLE, AND IT CLOSED, HITTING ME IN THE BACK. TRIED TO OPEN ONCE MORE, AND IT CLOSED AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STATIONARY AND DRIVING VARIOUS HIGH SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. SPECIFICALLY, THE CONTACT REFERENCED AN INCIDENT IN WHICH THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE BECAME STUCK IN A TUNNEL, IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY RESTARTED ITSELF AND MOTIVE POWER WAS RESTORED TO THE VEHICLE. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD WHEN STOPPED AND HAS STARTED THE CAR HAS PHYSICALLY STARTED JUMPING FORWARD WHILE AND SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF TROUBLE CHANGING FROM ONE GEAR TO THE NEXT. I HAD THE CAR IN WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAS DONE THIS OFF AND ON SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR.
I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMING ON AT AROUND 15,000 MILES AND IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. FAST FORWARD NOW I AM AT 33,000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM SHOWED UP AGAIN. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND AND THE GEAR LIGHT LIGHT UP RED. YOU EITHER HAVE TO DRIVE LIKE THAT OF TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART. IT POPS UP RANDOMLY WITH NO RHYME OR REASON. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECALLS ON THE SHIFTER(YES THE SHIFTER HAS TO BE REPLACED) AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE THE LAST ONE WAS ONLY GOOD FOR A YEAR. I FEEL AFTER READING HOW MANY VEHICLES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THERE MIGHT BE A FLAW IN THE SHIFTER.
WHEN THE OIL IS LOW, AND YOU ARE ON A SLIGHT INCLINE OR HILL THE VEHICLE WILL SIMPLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. NO WARNING LIGHT, NO WARNING MESSAGE. ONCE THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF IT DOESN'T RESTART, UNTIL ITS ON A FLAT AREA. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, THE LAST TIME I WAS STOPPED ON A HILL WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN I STARTED TO GO THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD EASILY GET PEOPLE KILLED. THE 3YR OLD ENGINE IS APPARENTLY BURNING OIL, SINCE THERE IS NO LEAK AND REGULAR OIL CHANGES ARE DONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND THE ENGINE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE ESCAPED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT TWO TIRES ALSO EXPLODED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND WAS AWAITING INSPECTION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
AFTER DRIVING CAR LESS THAN 5 MILES ON LOCAL ROADS AT A SLOW SPEED, SMOKE BEGAN TO COME FROM THE HOOD. I PARKED THE CAR AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMED BY FLAMES AND AN EXPLOSION HAPPENED. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ON SCENE AND A WITNESS TO THE EXPLOSION. *DT*JB
VEHICLE WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR... THERE WAS A LOUD THUD WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE....DEALER IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOWN 3 WEEKS, NO INFORMATION. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK BUTTON DOESN'T WORK. CENTER CONSOLE IS LOOSE. THE SUNROOF SHADE IS WRINKLING WHEN IT GOES BACK, THE SUNROOF MAKES A POPPING NOISE OCCASIONALLY WHEN IT'S OPENED. THE AC STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER, OR WILL TRICKLE OUT. THE TIRES ARE VERY WOBBLY AND NOISY.
CAR LUNDGES WHILE GOING IN REVERSE OR FORWARD AT LOWER SPEEDS (IE. BACKING UP OR STUCK IN TRAFFIC). THE ACCELERATION FROM STOP CAN BE VERY VERY DELAYED SO YOU NEVER WANT TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC WITHOUT A VERY LARGE OPENING OR YOU ARE LIKELY TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. IT ALSO CAN SHIFT INAPPROPRIATELY AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND CAUSE THE CAR TO LUNDGE. IT'S ALSO LUNDGED PRETTY DRASTICALLY AT START UP WHILE IN PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A DELAY WITH THE GEARS PROPERLY CHANGING OVER. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
KEY FOBS DON'T WORK AS THEY SHOULD. REMOTE START ONLY WORKS OCCASIONALLY , INDICATES "KEY FOB NOT DETECTED" WHEN I AM TRYING TO START THE CAR ALTHOUGH I AM HOLDING THE FOB IN MY HAND, WON'T OPEN THE DOOR WHEN I TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE OR PUSH "UNLOCK", WON'T OPEN THE TAIL GATE ETC. SOMETIMES THE FOB WILL WORK BUT NOT OFTEN. NEW BATTERIES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.
TRANSMISSION BANGS VERY HARD WHEN SHIFTING AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR. IF TRAVELING UP AN INCLINE IT SEEMS TO WORSEN THE FORCE OF THE BANG. ALSO HAS A STUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IN 1ST GEAR THRU 2ND GEAR.
SHIFTING ROUGH WHEN DRIVING, WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SO HARD IT SEEMS LIKE I WAS REAR ENDED THROWING ME BACK IN MY SEAT. RPM RUNS HIGH LIKE THE CAR IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP, DRIVING AND THE CAR WILL JUST SLOW DOWN, I PRESS ON THE GAS AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. I AM GONNA CAUSE A WRECK OR CAUSE SOMEONE ELSE TO WRECK INTO ME BACK OF THE HARD SHIFTING AND NOT GOING WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS, THEN THE HARD SHIFT AGAIN AND THROWING ME BACK IN MY SEAT. THEN THE CAR JUST CUT OFF EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE AUTO TURNED OFF? I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND SCARED TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR THAT WAS JUST PUTCHASED USED IN JULY 2018. HELP!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE, SERVICE TRANSMISSION, AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE NOT AVAILABLE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND DID NOT MOVE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR CLEARED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GOLLING CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (248-334-3600, LOCATED AT 2405 S TELEGRAPH RD, BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI 48302), BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES. ACCELERATING FROM SCRATCH, THE TRANS WILL NOT ALWAYS GRAB AND ACCELERATE. I'VE HAD 3 SOFTWARE UPDATES APPLIED, AND IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS I'VE RECEIVED I'VE HAD TWO INCIDENTS WHERE I RECEIVED THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION", "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE", AND "4WD DRIVE SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE" ERRORS... ONCE AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, AND THE SECOND TIME WHILE I WAS STARTING THE CAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON OVERNIGHT THE FIRST TIME BEFORE DISAPPEARING AND IS CURRENTLY BEING DISPLAYED AFTER THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 44K MILES ON IT. SO VERY DISAPPOINTING.
LEAKING FRONT STRUT. I'VE BEEN TO 2 DEALERS AND CANNOT GET THE STRUTS. I'M TOLD THAT THEY'RE ON BACK ORDER FOR 6 MONTHS. IF THEY CAN'T KEEP THE STRUTS IN STOCK ANYWHERE, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE STRUTS. OUR JEEP ONLY HAS 56,000 MILES.
WHEN TRYING TO START VEHICLE THE DASH ELECTRONICS FLASH TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE REQUIRED, BRAKE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED. THE STEERING WHEEL GETS HARD TO TURN. WHEN YOU PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO TURN OVER THE ENGINE THE CAR STUTTERS AS IF THERE IS NO BATTERY POWER. IT TURNS OVER ONCE, STARTS, THEN SHUTS OFF. THE CAR WILL START ONCE THEN YOU WILL NEED TO STEP ON THE GAS WHILE STILL IN PARK FOR THE CAR TO STAY ON. CAUSE UNKNOWN.
HEADLIGHTS VERY DIM. CAN'T SEE PEDESTRIANS AND STREET SIGNS IN THE DARK. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN IT IS RAINING AT NIGHT

CPSC: I PURCHASED A PEDAL COMMANDER PRODUCT SEPTEMBER 21, 2018 TO ASSIST MY 2015 JEEP'S ACCELERATION. THE MODULE IS A PASS THROUGH ELECTRONIC DEVICE THAT IS INSTALLED BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *DT O THE USER CAN SELECT 4 'MODES' THAT WILL PROVIDE A BETTER RESPONSE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. *DT THE CONSUMER STATED A PEDAL COMMANDER DEVICE WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEVICE FAILED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN ECO/CITY MODE. *JS*JB
CHECK SHIFTER MESSAGE. WHILE DRIVING. ALL THE LIDHTS ON THE CONSOLE LIGHT UP. (P.R,N,D,S ) INTERMITTENET PROBLEM AND SEEMS TO BE WEATHER RELATED (TEMPERATURE CHANGE), THE DEALER HAS FLASHED THE COMPUTER SO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON OR REGISTER A CODE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR OVER A YEAR. DEALER CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. CURRENTLY AT 27300 MILES.
MY FIANCEE PURCHASED A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE SUV 4X4 (CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED W/ ADDITIONAL, EXTENDED WARRANTY) ONE (1) MONTH AGO ALMOST TO THE DAY OF THIS INCIDENT REPORT. WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING (APPROXIMATELY 5-5:30AM), THE CAR BECAME NON-FUNCTIONAL AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLICKERED WITH WARNING LIGHTS APPEARING. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURRED WITH NO OUTSIDE FORCES OR FACTORS TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND THE CAR STALLED IMMEDIATELY, WHILE STILL MOVING. THE ELECTRICAL WAS ON AND DISPLAY WORKED, HOWEVER; THE CAR WOULD NOT GO AT ALL. THE CAR BEHIND HER HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. HAD IT BEEN ANY LATER IN THE DAY OR ON A BUSY, MAJOR HIGHWAY; I FEAR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. WE HAVE NOW BROUGHT IT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY CANNOT GET TO THE CAR FOR AT LEAST TWO (2) WEEKS WITH NO LOANER CARS AVAILABLE. WE WERE ADVISED TO CALL JEEP DIRECTLY AND GO OVER THE SITUATION AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP AT ALL BUT TO *POTENTIALLY* REIMBURSE RENTAL COSTS WHILE THE CAR WOULD BE REPAIRED (MUCH LATER AFTER THE RENTAL NEEDS TO BE PAID). THIS IS OUR SECOND JEEP AND I AM ABSOLUTELY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS AS THIS COULD HAVE COST MY FIANCEE HER LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS. WE NOW DO NOT KNOW THE BEST PATH FORWARD AND ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A SOLUTION TO EITHER REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. MAYBE LEGAL ACTION IS REQUIRED. FOR BEING "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED" THE LEVEL OF TRUST HAS DEFINITELY BEEN REDUCED IF NOT LOST COMPLETELY. I HOPE THIS GETS RESOLVED SOON AND THAT JEEP REALLY UNDERSTANDS THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE. IF A RECALL IS NECESSARY TO PREVENT INJURY OR DEATH, PLEASE FIX THIS AND MAKE IT RIGHT. PEOPLE BUY THESE CARS TO BE YOUR CUSTOMERS - DON'T DO WRONG BY THEM AND RISK THEIR LIVES TO PREVENT SPENDING TOWARDS THE RESOLUTION OF A COMMON PROBLEM.
WHEN IN MOTION AND SLOWING TO A ROLL AT LOW SPEED, TRANSMISSION REMAINS IN HIGHER GEAR(3) AND DOESN'T SHIFT DOWN WHEN THROTTLE IS RE-APPLIED. IS REPEATABLE. IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN ROLLING TO A NEAR STOP ON AN INCLINE BECAUSE WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE, IT HAPPENS EXTREMELY SLOW BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS IN TO HIGH OF A GEAR. CAR HAS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO SHIFT DOWN FROM 3RD GEAR IN THESE SITUATIONS. TRANSMISSION IS ALSO VERY SLOW TO SHIFT IN MANY SCENARIOS, WHICH COULD BECOME DANGEROUS IF DRIVER NEEDS TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID A CRASH. FCA HAS COME OUT WITH MANY TRANSMISSION ECU UPDATES AND IS AWARE OF MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, BUT HAS FAILED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THEM. PURCHASED NEW AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AROUND 2K MILES, AT LEAST AROUND THE TIME I RECOGNIZED IT.
WHEN ACCELERATING, TRANSMISSION JERKS, PULLS, HESITATES, SOMETIMES DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE IN. DOES NOT DO THIS WHILE MANUALLY DOING IT, BUT WOULD RATHER DRIVE IN AUTOMATIC SO THAT I DO NOT HAVE TO MANUALLY DO IT. SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE I'M BEING REAR ENDED.
WHILE BEING TOWED BEHIND MOTORHOME, THE FRONT "LOAD BEAMS" ON JEEP CAME APART. LUCKILY, THIS DID NOT OCCUR ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
I PURCHASED A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE SEPTEMBER 2018 WITH 64,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE ON THE STREET, THE VEHICLE WILL JERK REALLY HARD LIKE IT IS CHANGING GEARS. IF I AM PUTTING VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND LEAVING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY, THE VEHICLE JERKS. WHENEVER I AM DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED (0-45MPH) THE VEHICLE JERKS. WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, LIKE A STOP SIGN, RED LIGHT, OR HEAVY TRAFFIC, VEHICLE JERKS ONCE I ACCELERATE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO DEALER TO BE SERVICED ON NOVEMBER 3, 2018 REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND I WAS TOLD THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS BUT THERE WAS AN UPDATE (RRT) COMPLETED ON VEHICLE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2018 FOR ELECTRICAL COMPONENT SERVICES AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS TOLD VEHICLE IS NOT SHOWING ANY PROBLEMS BUT MY THERMOSTAT NEEDED REPLACING DUE TO THERMOSTAT RATIONALITY CODE. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR A FUTURE DATE TO THE SERVICE. ALSO HAD LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FIXED WAS TOLD THE BULB DIDN'T NEED REPLACING THAT SOMEHOW IT CAME UNSCREWED. HEADLIGHT WAS WORKING BEFORE I LEFT, LATER ON THAT DAY HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. I LIVE IN HOUSTON WHERE THE TEMPS RE NOW IN THE 50S HIGHS 60S AND I HAD MY HEATER ON, ALL OF A SUDDEN I STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE LIKE OIL SMOKE. BUT I DON'T HAVE ANY LIGHTS COMING ON ON MY DASHBOARD. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL WHY IS MY AUTOMATIC VEHICLE DRIVING LIKE IT'S MANUAL AND WITH IT ONLY HAVING 1 PREVIOUS OWNER THAT ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE HAPPENING???

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE REDESIGNING THE LUG NUTS FROM ONE YEAR TO THE NEXT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS CURRENTLY NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
AN ALERT MESSAGE READS "SERVICE SHIFTER" ACROSS DASH MESSAGE CENTER WHILE DRIVING. . THE GEAR SHIFT WILL LIGHT UP EVERY GEAR AND NEITHER CLEAR OFF UNLESS I PULL OVER AND KILL THE ENGINE. THE MESSAGE DOES NOT STORE IN THE "ERROR MESSAGE" REPORTING SYSTEM AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED FROM AS WELL AS ANOTHER THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE SINCE THE MESSAGE ISN'T STORED. I'M READING REPORTS OF THESE MAKE/MODELS LOCKING UP THE STEERING AND CAUSING CRASHES.

SINCE I BOUGHT MY JEEP IN AUGUST 2016 AND SINCE I'VE GOTTEN IT THE MESSAGE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' POPS UP ON MY SCREEN. I'VE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT'S GOTTEN TO THE POINT NOW THE MESSAGE POPS UP EVERY OTHER DAY. I HAVE A SON AND I DO NOT WANT SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD PUTTING MY FAMILY'S LIFE IN DANGER! THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

IN RESPONSE TO ISSUES BELOW, DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT A BCM, PART NO "68236667AI", WAS NOT RESPONDING TO TESTS AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WE DRIVE WITH WINDOWS DOWN AND A/C ON AT TIMES. UNDER THESE CONDITIONS I HAVE FELT WATER FROM CONDENSATION HIT MY FEET IN THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR AND I THINK IT IS LIKELY THAT THIS PART WAS DAMAGED FROM THAT CONDENSATION. THIS BCM SHOULD HAVE A SEALANT AROUND IT OR BE IN A BETTER LOCATION IF THE A/C IS GOING TO DRIP IN THE CAR. RESULTING PROBLEMS FROM ELECTRICAL BCM FAILURE THAT ARE ONGOING FOR LAST MONTH BECAUSE PART IS BACK ORDERED: 2018/09/16 KEYLESS ENTRY WORKS, BUT ONLY WHEN USING THE PASSENGER DOOR. THEN STOPPED AND LEFT VEHICLE, AFTERWARD ELECTRIC LOCKS WOULD NOT WORK FROM INSIDE, KEYLESS ENTRY WOULD NOT WORK, AND DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK WHEN VEHICLE SURPASSED 15 MPH. 2018/08/30 AT NIGHT, AFTER EXITING VEHICLE KEYLESS ENTRY UNRESPONSIVE, HAZARD LIGHTS TURNED THEMSELVES ON, HATCH WOULD NOT LOCK. THROUGHOUT ALL THESE DAYS FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS, THE KEYLESS ENTRY, ELECTRIC LOCKS, MEMORY SEATS, AND RADIO PRESETS MAY OR MAY NOT LOCK. THERE WAS ANOTHER TIME WHERE THE REAR HATCH POWER DID NOT WORK AND IT ALSO DID NOT LATCH ITSELF. WE WERE MOVING WHEN WE DISCOVERED THE HATCH DID NOT LATCH ITSELF AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, IT DID RESPOND AND PULL ITSELF LATCHED. THE HAZARDS AND LIGHTS NOT RESPONDING AND STAYING ON, DOORS NOT LOCKING OVER 15 MPH, AND HATCH NOT LATCHING ARE ALL SAFETY CONCERNS. THE PART TO REPAIR THIS CAME IN YESTERDAY, THE ISSUE WAS REPORTED AROUND A MONTH AGO.
WHILE DRIVING CAR HOME FROM WORK IN SUNNY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CARS DASH BEEPED AND LIT UP WITH THE BATTERY WARNING. MY CAR STOPPED EXELERATING BUT ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR STILL WORKED. AFTER TRYING TO GET IT TO TURN OVER AGAIN IT JUST RATTLED. I WAS ABLE TO GET A JUMP AND HEAD HOME WHERE WE LOOKED DEEPER INTO THE PROBLEM. WE FINALLY TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT THE STARTER, BATTERY, ALTERNATOR WERE ALL WORKING AND IN GOOD CONDITION AND HAD NO CLUE WHY IT WOULD HAVE DIED ON ME FOR NO REASON. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CHILD AROUND ON THE HIGHWAY OR ANY BUSY/CONSTRUCTION AREAS IF MY CAR COULD STOP ON A DIME WITHOUT WARNING. NOT FIXING THIS PROBLEM COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE GETTING HURT OR EVEN KILLED.
START/STOP FAILING TO WORK OR WORKS WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE LOCAL DEALER 4 OR 5 TIMES. ONE VISIT THEY KEPT IT FOR 3 DAYS. THEY EVEN TALKED TO CHRYSLER REGARDING THIS ISSUE. SO THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY FOR THIS. DIDN'T HELP. NOW THE WARNING STILL COMES ON AT DIFFERENT TIMES. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T SHUT DOWN AT ALL WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SOMETIMES IT DOES. I ALSO NOTICED THE JEEP NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5-6 TIMES. NOT SURE IF ONE THING IS CONNECTED TO ANOTHER BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED. I HAVE MY 3 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE JEEP OFTEN AND DON'T LIKE THIS FAULTY ISSUE. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

HAD TO MAKE MY WAY ACROSS THE FREEWAY TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY . VERY DANGEROUS . STOPPED THE CAR PUT IN PARK , SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BUT ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON . HAVE HAD HARD SHIFTING AND LURCHING FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF NOW . BROUGHT IN TO DEALERSHIP TO FIX . THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME BRINGING IN .
WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND DOES NOT SHIFT GEARS. IT HAS MADE ME NOT BE ABLE TO PULL OUT INTO ONGOING TRAFFIC SAFELY. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION IT WILL SHIFT GEARS AT THE WRONG TIMES AND NOT WHEN I NEED IT TOO. IT WILL SOMETIMES CAUSE ME TO SLOW DOWN OR SPEED UP UNEXPECTEDLY. I HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS.
AT AROUND 40,000 MILES, TOUCH SCREEN/RADIO WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AND ON, AND SERVICE SHIFTER COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES STAYS ON CONSTANTLY, SOMETIMES COMES ON AND OFF. VERY FRUSTRATING AS NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THESE ISSUES ALL OVER THE INTERNET, BUT JEEP HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. SOME REPORTS EVEN MENTION INJURIES INVOLVED IN THE ISSUE. NO VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE THESE ISSUES THIS COMMONLY AT A VERY ACCEPTABLE LOW MILEAGE.

I PULLED OFF ON THE SHOULDER AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND IT SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO GEAR WITH A SURGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. IT WORKED OK AFTERWARDS WITH SPOTTY SHIFTING. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TWICE. I HAVE NOW CALLED FOR SERVICE AT A DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
I RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR A RECALL ON MY JEEP CHEROKEE 2015 INVOLVING THE CRUISE CONTROL. I SCHEDULED THE SERVICE AT BILL LUKE JEEP IN TWO WEEKS. THE EVENING BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THEY COULD NOT PERFORM THE SERVICE DUE TO HAVING "TOO MANY" CARS AT THE SHOP. I HAVE NOW MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THIS HAS NOW DELAYED MY GETTING THIS CORRECTED BY 10 DAYS.
I PURCHASED MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE BRAND NEW, IT HAD NEVER BEEN DRIVEN BEFORE. IMMEDIATELY I RECOGNIZED THERE WAS SOMETHING OFF WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ACCELERATION PATTERN OF THE VEHICLE. FOR ANY SPEED WITHIN THE FIRST FEW GEARS (ESPECIALLY GEAR 2-3) THE VEHICLE IS EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS. IF YOU COME TO A ROLLING STOP AT A YIELD SIGN, THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE A SINGLE INCH UNTIL YOU'RE UP TO ABOUT 4500 RPMS, AFTER WHICH IT WILL RIP INTO 3RD GEAR SO VIOLENTLY THAT THE TIRES SQUEAL. THIS HAS BROUGHT ME CLOSE TO CAUSING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS, EITHER FROM NOT ACCELERATING QUICKLY ENOUGH AND ALMOST BEING T-BONED AT AN INTERSECTION, OR FROM ACCELERATING SO RAPIDLY YOU LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. MY FINAL STRAW FOR WRITING THIS FORMAL COMPLAINT WAS HOW CLOSE I CAME TO MY JEEP JERKING INTO A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING THE STREET WHEN I WAS TRYING TO TURN A CORNER BEFORE THE PEDESTRIAN EVEN STARTED CROSSING THE STREET. I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM AND TIME TO TURN THE CORNER, BUT WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE RPMS ROSE RAPIDLY AND THE VEHICLE STAYED PUT UNTIL I HIT THAT MAGICAL ZONE WHERE ALL OF A SUDDEN 3RD GEAR CATCHES AND YOU ARE VIOLENTLY JERKED FORWARD. I HAVE BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD ME MY VEHICLE FOUR TIMES FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. THEY DID A FEW 'SOFTWARE UPDATES' TO TRY TO 'FIX' THE ISSUE, BUT NOTHING WORKED EVEN IN THE SLIGHTEST. I AM NOW A COUPLE OF YEARS IN WITH THIS VEHICLE AND JEEP REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING MORE TO FIX THEIR FAULTY TRANSMISSION. I WAS COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF, I WILL LOSE THOUSANDS ON THIS TERRIBLE VEHICLE IF I TRY TO SELL IT NOW, BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT IS UTTERLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT OUT ON THE ROADS. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I FOUND THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE FOR BOTH 2014 AND 2015 CHEROKEES. JEEP IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT ANY OF THEM. JEEP HAS ROBBED ME, AND I AM POWERLESS AS A MIDDLE CLASS CITIZEN.
AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND METAL DAMAGED MY FACE
THE VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY COME UP WITH A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN DEC OF 2015 NEW. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY, BUT THE PROBLEM KEPT HAPPENING. THEY KEPT FLASHING THE SOFTWARE AND TELLING ME IT WAS FINE. AT THE END OF JULY 2018, I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT RESEARCHED BECAUSE IT HAD BEGUN TO FLICKER ALONG WITH ONE OF THE TWO LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE HEADLIGHT AND THE LISENCE PLATE LIGHTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME BY COINCIDENCE. I TRIED TO CONTACT JEEP/CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AND EXPLAIN THERE WAS A BIGGER PROBLEM BUT THEY WOULDNT LISTEN. DAYS LATER, I STOPPED FOR GAS, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND FILLED THE TANK. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR WOULDNT START. I KEPT TRYING TO TURN IT ON BUT IT WOULDNT MAKE A SOUND. FINALLY, AFTER ABOUT 25 MINUTES THE CAR TURNED ON. ONCE ON, ERROR MESSAGES LIGHT UP MY DASH: SERVICE SHIFTER, SERVICE PARKING BREAK, SERVICE ENGINE, SERVICE TRANSMISSION, AND OTHERS. I TRIED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR BUT IT SHIFTED HARD AND SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO DROP. THE CAR WOULDNT MOVE. TOWED THE CAR TO DEWEY DODGE. THEY FLASHED IT, TOLD ME IT WAS FINE, AND MADE ME COME GET IT AND WOULDNT LOOK FURTHER. 24 HOURS LATER, I WAS STRANDED AGAIN, CAR WOULDNT START. TOWED IT AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY TOLD ME THEY DID A 27PT INSPECTION AND IT WAS FINE A DAY PRIOR... THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 2 MONTHS. ONCE I GOT IT BACK, I HAD IT FOR ONLY A FEW DAYS AND I WAS STUCK AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE CAR TURNED ON, AND I WAS ABLE TO TRY TO DRIVE HOME. WHILE ON HIGHWAY, SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARED AGAIN. DEWEY REPLACES THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE SHIFTER AGAIN. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE EVEN THOUGH MULTIPLE ONLINE FORUMS HAVE A COLLECTION OF PEOPLE DETAILING THE SAME PROBLEMS!
