TODAY BEING 7/26/2018. TODAY MY VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN IN THE MORNING, AND AGAIN IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN MAKING A U-TURN. AND FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS BEFORE, A FEW TIMES I FELT THE ENGINE ATTEMPT TO SHUT OFF WHEN COMING TO STOP SIGNS AND LIGHTS, WHICH THE VEHICLE SHAKING WOULD TAKE PLACE AND THE MOTOR SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. IN THE CASE OF TRANSMISSION, FOR THE PAST MONTH IN RANDOM MOMENTS WHILE STOPPED AT AN INCLINE OR TURNING ONTO AN INCLINE STREET, THE GEARS WOULD DELAY SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR, AND IT WOULD SOUND LIKE RPM WAS REACHING HIGHER THAN NORMAL ROTATIONS BEFORE ACTUALLY SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR, THE CAR JERKING FROM THE CATCH. ALL EVENTS OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON STREETS, BOTH WHEN TURNING OR STOPPING, OR INCLINE CLIMB INVOLVED.
CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS WHEN MY NEIGHBOR HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION LOOKED OUT AND SEEN THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE SHE THEN CALLED 911 AND CAME AN WOKE US UP TO GET US OUT OF THE HOME. WE ALL MADE IT OUT SAFELY AS THE CAR KEPT EXPLODING 3 MORE TIMES CAR WAS A LOSS AND HOME WAS DAMAGED THE CAR AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE AS WE WAS TRYING TO PUT IT OUT WITH WATER HOSES THE WINDSHIELD WHIPPERS WAS GOING HEADLIGHTS WAS FLASHING HORN WAS HONKING DOORS WAS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE CAR WAS SETTING IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO KEYS IN IT AND WINDOWLS UP AND LOCKED ONLY HAD THIS CAR 5 MONTHS. BOUGHT IT 02/24/18
ENGINE DIES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD & AFTER 10-15 MINUTES VEHICLE WILL START. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES & EACH TIME I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TO NORMANDIN JEEP IN SAN JOSE, CA. OF COURSE IT IS RUNNING EACH TIME WHEN I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP & I ALWAYS GET THE SAME STORY. LOW OIL OR OIL PRESSURE. I CURRENTLY HAVE LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON THE JEEP & MY FIRST INCIDENT BEGAN WITH 15,000 MILES ......... THEN AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN. I LIVE IN SILICON VALLEY & HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD SON. THE FREEWAYS ARE BUSY AND THIS HAS BECOME A DANGEROUS SITUATION. ACCORDING TO MY ONLINE RESEARCH ........ THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP CHEROKEE ..........BUT ........ THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT WANT TO ADMIT THIS. ON MY LAST VISIT ABOUT A MONTH AGO (LESS THAN 40,000 ON ODOMETER) THEY (NORMANDIN) TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT & THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ..........EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUE BEGAN A COUPLE YEARS AGO. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM .......... HE WOULD REPLACE THE UNIT AND CHARGE ME ONLY $100. WITH A JOB & A ONE YEAR OLD CHILD ..... I CERTAINLY DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO ARGUE. THEY REPLACED THE UNIT & FILLED MY JEEP WITH OIL AND I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. WELL ............ MY JEEP JUST STRANDED ME AGAIN . SAME PROBLEM & I KEEP CALLING THE DEALERSHIP (FOR THE PAST 5 DAYS) AND THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS NOT RETURNED MY CALL. I SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE TIME FOR THIS. PLUS I AM SCARED TO BE ON THE ROAD TO MY WORK WITH MY YOUNG SON IN THE BACK SEAT (I DROP HIM OFF AT DAY CARE). I WRITE THE NHTSA BECAUSE I'M AWARE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT PERHAPS THEIR LOCAL JEEP DEALER REPAIRS THE PROBLEM ............ WHETHER IT BE WITH A NEW ENGINE OR WHATEVER. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ?
HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING, AND WILL RANDOMLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING
WHILE IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYS PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO START. THE CAR CONSUMES LARGE AMOUNTS OF SYNTHETIC OIL, WHICH SHOULD LAST UP TO 6 MONTHS BUT ONLY LASTS BETWEEN 700-1000 MILES PER QUART. THE OIL LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON INDICATING THAT THE OIL IS LOW. IT FLASHES ACROSS THE SCREEN TOO FAST FOR THE DRIVER TO SEE THE WARNING. WHEN THE OIL IS LOW, THE CAR BEGINS TO SHUT ITSELF OFF WHILE IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT BOTH HIGH AND LOW RATES OF SPEED ON CITY STREETS AND A HIGHWAY DURING RUSH OUR TRAFFIC, NEARLY CAUSING A COLLISION WITH VEHICLES BEHIND ME.
WHEN JEEP IS RUNNING IT MAKES A LOUD SOUND, YOU CAN HEAR IT INSIDE THE CAR, AT 10 MPH IS SOUNDS LIKE RAAA RAAA RAAA RAAAA, AT 20 MPH IT SOUNDS LIKE RA RA RA RA RA , AT 60 MPH IT SOUNDS LIKE RARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARA. SOUNDS LIKE IT'S COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR, A ROTATING SOUND THAT JUST GETS LOUDER AS YOU DRIVE FASTER. WE COULD NEVER USE THIS CAR FOR A TRIP, WE WOULD BE DEAF BY THE TIME WE GOT BACK. WE THOUGHT IT MIGHT GO AWAY IF WE GOT NEW TIRES, HAD FIRESTONE AT & WE BOUGHT MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX DUE TO LOW NOISE OF TIRE. NO LUCK, NOISE IS STILL THERE. WE GO TO DEALER FOR ALL SERVICE & ARE TOLD ITS A JEEP THING, REALLY? THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED, PLEASE LOOK INTO IT AS WE ARE SLOWLY LOSING OUR HEARING. IT STARTED MAKING THIS NOISE IN 2015, BOUGHT IN JANUARY 2015 AND CONTINUES TO THIS VERY DAY, JULY 16, 2028. I HATE THIS CAR & FOR $40,000 IT SHOULD BE A HECK OF A LOT BETTER. AND THIS WAS OUR 2ND JEEP, WE HAD A 2001 WITHOUT ONE PROBLEM FOR 12 YEARS.
JEEP CHEROKEE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHILE IN PARK, OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR EVEN SHIFTING TO REVERSE THE JEEP SHIFTER WILL LIGHT UP ALL LIGHTS AND DISPLAY "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE.
THE FAN BELT SHREDDED AT 37,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THE PULLEYS WERE PART OF THE PROBLEM. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE BELT SHREDDED. IT STARTED OVERHEATING QUICKLY.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEGUN STALLING, WITH NO WARNING. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT OR IN SLOW TRAFFIC. IT HAS STALLED ONCE ON A BUSY FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. THE FIRST OCCURENCE WAS FRIDAY 7/13 AT A STOP SIGN JUST SHORTLY AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE; THE NEXT SATURDAY 7/14 AT A STOP SIGN AFTER HAVING DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 17MILES ON A FREEWAY. THIS TIME IT WAS DIFFICULT TO START AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE. THEN WEDNESDAY 7/18 I DON'T RECALL THE CONDITIONS. THEN ON FRIDAY JULY 20 IT STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO PATTERN - HAS HAPPENED WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE, AFTER HAVING DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL MILES - SO IS NOT A "COLD" OR "HOT" ENGINE PROBLEM. THERE ARE NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS AND NO PHYSICAL WARNING SIGNS - IT JUST STOPS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR A TOTAL OF 3 DAYS AND SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS DANGEROUS IF IT CONTINUES TO STALL ON THE FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
FAULTY TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTING
OUR JEEP FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS BUCKING/TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE OR THEY HAVE DID A SOFTWARE UPGRADE THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS ONLY A BANDAID AND DECREASES THE AMOUNT IT DOES THE BUCKING BUT WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL AFTER A FEW HUNDRED MILES. RECENLTY OUR SCREEN AS WELL WILL NOT TURN ON FOR UP TO 5TH MINUTES OF DRIVING AND OCCASIONALLY GET A MESSAGE THAT SAYS THE PHONE IS OUT OF SERVICE AND TO CONTACT DEALER. AGAIN WE CONTACT THE DEALER ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE. THE SHIFTING HAPPENS GENERALLY WHEN GOING IN BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 5-35 MPH. IT'S BECOMING SCARY TO DRIVE AS WE JERK WHILE IN MOTION.
TRUCK VIBRATE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES ROTORS AND PADS STILL GOOD ONLY 22000 MILES
THIS HAS HAPPED TO OVER 20 TIMES. WHEN PUTTING MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE, THE SCREEN DISPLAYS ' SERVICE SHIFTER' I HAVE TAKEN TO TWO DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE BECAUSE CODE RESETS ITSELF. I AM WORRIED AS I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN AND NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE. IT SEEMS THE DEALER CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO FIND THE PROBLEM
THE VEHICLE LAGS ON TAKEOFF, SHIFTS ROUGHLY BETWEEN GEARS, LAGS BETWEEN GEARS, AND LURCHES. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOES NOT FUNCTION SMOOTHLY AND, AT TIMES, HAS CAUSED SAFETY CONCERNS RELATED TO INADEQUATE ACCELERATION AND LURCHING FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM). WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT IS PART OF THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. THE DATE PROVIDED BELOW IS THE LATEST SERVICE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED TWO OTHER TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION JERKS AND HESITATES ALSO POPPING SOUND WHEN PUTTING INTO GEAR AND SHIFTS VERY HARD.
SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR COMES UP AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. I HAVE HAD 3 TRANSMISSION FIXES AND THE SHIFTER WORKED ON AND NOW THIS KEEPS HAPPENING!
WHEN I DRIVE OUT OF NOWHERE THE CAR BEGINS TO STALL AND A NOTIFICATION POPS UP SAYING THAT MY BATTERY IS DYING SO THE CAR STOPS MOVING AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. ONCE STOPPED THEN A FEW WORDS POP UP ON MY CAR DISPLAY SAYING THAT I HAVE TO MOVE THE SHIFT FROM P EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFT IS ON D. WHEN I TRY TO SHIFT NOTHING HAPPENS THE CAR STILL STAYS THE SAME DOESNT MOVE OR EVEN REV WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND WHEN I TRY TO TURN IT BACK ON IT TAKES A COUPLE SECONDS FOR IT TO FINALLY TURN BACK ON AS IT STRUGGLES AND THEN EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AGAIN EVEN THE BATTERY LEVEL IS BACK UP TO NORMAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS JUST COMPLETELY DEAD PRIOR TO STARTING THE CAR AGAIN. WHATEVER IS HAPPENING TO THE SHIFTER IS DRAINING MY BATTERY.
AFTER THE TRANSMISSION IS TOTALLY WARMED UP, TAKING OFF FROM A STOP MAY CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP AND THEN JUMP INTO GEAR WITH A JERK. THIS IS MORE PREVALENT WHEN STARTING UPHILL OR DOWNHILL. DEALER SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE BUT MY WIFE ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF A CAR BECAUSE OF IT.
TRANSMISSION JERKS
WITHOUT WARNING ALL THE DASH PANEL LIGHTS SHUT OFF. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE. BOTH INCIDENTS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAYS AT DUSK. ( 5:30 PM, MARCH 7, 2018 ON ILLINOIS I-72 AND 8:15 PM, MAY 31, 2018 ON MISSOURI HIGHWAY 6.) THE DASH LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AFTER 15 - 20 MINUTES AND/OR A RESTART OF THE AUTO. IT WAS TERRIFYING TO EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF DASH LIGHTS AT DUSK AND TRAVELLING AT ROAD SPEED. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN TO ME. I PLAN TO CONTACT MY JEEP DEALERSHIP.
WENT TO START CAR WOULDN'T START OR TURN OVER. RECEIVED JUMP FROM ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAITED 20 MIN BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST AUTO ZONE (2 MILES). ONCE I STARTED DRIVING THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING AND AS SOON AS I CAME TO A RED LIGHT AT A VERY BUSY 3 LANE INTERSECTION I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND MY CAR SHUT OFF & WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. AT THIS POINT, MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO SIT WITHOUT ANY POWER, THEREFORE NO HAZARD LIGHTS, AND WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO HIT ME AS I WAS UNABLE TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE DUE TO HIGH RISK OF BEING HIT BY A CAR. DURING THE TERRIFYING TIME OF WAITING EVENTUALLY I DID GET HIT. WHICH CAUSED A THREE CAR ACCIDENT & PILE-UP ON THIS VERY BUSY ROAD. I WAS THE FRONT VEHICLE AND MY JEEP IS PROBABLY TOTALED AND I WILL BE GOING TO DOCTOR TOMORROW, THE MIDDLE VEHICLE RECEIVED THE MOST DAMAGE & THE PASSENGERS WERE HURT & WENT TO HOSPITAL, THE 3RD VEHICLE (TRUCK) WAS VERY DAMAGED BUT THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. I THEN CALLED 911 & WE FILLED OUT A POLICE REPORT & MY CAR WAS TOWED & THE POLICE DROVE ME HOME LIKE A CRIMINAL. THIS ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY MY JEEP'S ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. I DO NOT CURRENTLY SEE A RECALL FOR ANYTHING BY VIN OR BY MAKE/MODEL. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS IMMEDIATELY AS I DO NOT WANT OTHERS TO BE EFFECTED AS I WAS AT THE FAULT OF JEEP. *DT*JB
AFTER I TURN KEY OFF THE ENGINE REFUSES TO START BACK UP WHEN I TURN THE KEY ON. IT HAS DIED TWICE LIKE THIS AT THE DRIVE UP WINDOW OF A RESTAURANT.
AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, I PROCEEDED TO EXIT A PARKING LOT AT 10 MPH, PRESSED GENTLY ON GAS PEDAL AND HEARD A VERY LOUD POP. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND WAS EXTREMELY LOUD. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMS MY MAINTENANCE, AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN THE EXHAUST FLEX PIPE. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 60000 MILES ON IT.
SINCE VEHICLE WAS FIRST PURCHASED IN DEC 2014, THE AUTOSTART FEATURE OCCASIONALLY COMPLETELY STALLS VEHICLE WHEN STOPPED AT SIGN, AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOPPED IN HEAVY TRANSIT AND WILL NOT TURN BACK ON TO CONTINUE TRIP. I HAVE TO TURN OFF KEY REMOVE KEY AND EXIT VEHICLE TO RESET. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN RUN OVER, IMPACTED BY OTHER ONCOMING VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY OR BY VEHICLES TRYING TO GET AROUND ME AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. I HAVE REPORTED IT SEVERAL TIMES TO DEALER WHITTEN BROS IN RICHMOND VA AND ASHLAND VA BUT HAVE BEEN IGNORED AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO DOCUMENT OCCURRENCES. AND DISMISSED MY ALLEGATIONS. I HAVE HAD OVER 12 INCIDENTS IN THE LAST 3 YEARS IN 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 AND 2018, IN THE CITY, SUBURBS AND HIGHWAYS. MY MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE DATE IS POSTED BELOW *JS UPDATED 9/21/18*JB
MY RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AS I DRIVE WHEN PAIRED WITH A PHONE AS AN OPERATING WIRELESS DEVICE. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME MOVING OR STILL.
JEEP CHEROKEE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE CAR HAS HAD ACCELERATION ISSUES FROM THE VERY START. BUT RECENTLY AT ONLY 38K MILES THE TRANSMISSION TOTALLY FAILED ON ME AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS FAILURE WAS VERY DANGEROUS BUT LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR A LONG WHILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO BE FINE. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF, BUT I STILL PLAN ON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AFTER READING THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND TENDS TO REOCCUR. MY WIFE IS NOW SCARED TO USE THIS CAR. HOW CAN A COMPANY GET AWAY WITH CHEATING CUSTOMERS THIS WAY?
I NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST JEEP. THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2015 CHEROKEE IS AWFUL AND A SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE JERKS AROUND SO MUCH WHEN I'M DRIVING IT, I'M CONCERNED IT'S EVENTUALLY GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IN TRAFFIC IT PUNCHES FORWARD AND STOPS ABRUPTLY BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO TRY TO GET IT FIXED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS. IT'S AWFUL THAT I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS VEHICLE I'M ACTUALLY SCARED TO DRIVE. ANYTIME I HAVE A PASSENGER THEY COMMENT ON HOW THE CAR JERKS AND UNPLEASANT IT IS TO RIDE IN. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME GETTING A LEMON AND SOMETHING I HAVE TO DEAL WITH BUT I WENT ONLINE TODAY AND THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER 2015 CHEROKEE LATITUDE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE AND THE COMPANY SHOULD BE ASHAMED BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO LEAD TO MANY ACCIDENTS.
TRANSMISSION LAGS UPON ACCELERATION, HESITATING FOR UP TO SEVERAL SECONDS AND THEN LURCHING FORWARD AS IT ENGAGES INTO GEAR. THIS OCCURS MOST TIMES AND WHEN MOVING AHEAD AFTER A BRIEF STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT.
PER TSB 08-029-16 FLAT TOWING THIS VEHICLE JEEP INSTALLED A WIRING KIT TO STOP A SEVERE WOBBLE WHILE TOWING. KIT WAS INSTALLED JULY 25 2016. WHILE TOWING THE JEEP DURING A TRIP ON APRIL 28, 2018 ON I255 E BYPASS AROUND SAINT LOUIS AT APPROX. 4:40 PM AT APPROX. 60 MPH I HAD THE SEVERE DEATH WOBBLE OCCUR. HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WHILE DECELERATING AND TRYING TO STOP (WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE WOBBLE) I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK. ON APRIL 29, 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM WHILE EXITING I39 ONTO I39/90 IN WISCONSIN THE WOBBLE OCCURRED AGAIN AT APPROX. 50 MPH. AGAIN, THE WIRING FIX WAS INSTALLED AND I HAD IT CORRECTLY TURNED ON. THIS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND I REFUSE TO TOW IT 1 FOOT UNTIL JEEP STEPS UP TO THE PLACE AND DOES THE RIGHT THING. IN BOTH INSTANCES, TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND BRAKING QUICKLY TO STOP THE WOBBLE COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY.
THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND SOMETIMES SKIPS GEARS. IT WILL SHIFT VERY LATE AND DO A JOLT AND IT FEELS LIKES I WAS HIT BY ANOTHER CAR, GIVES A SLIGHT WHIPLASH FEELING TO THE PASSENGERS. SOMETIMES WHEN I GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THE BACK WHEELS LOCK UP AND THE BACK HALF OF THE CAR LOWERS TO THE GROUND WHILE THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE RISES. THE VEHICLE ALSO SOMETIMES ACCELERATES ON ITS' OWN WHEN I DON'T HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS. I CAN BE DRIVING AT ANY POINT AROUND 20-30MPH AND MY RPMS WILL JUMP TO 3000+ AND THE ENGINE MAKES LOUD NOISES LIKE IT IS BEING OVERWORKED TO GO 20 MPH AND IT WILL STAY LIKE THAT FOR A GOOD 4-8 SECONDS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS HAVE DRASTICALLY DECREASED THE MPG MY CAR GETS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE "START/STOP" FEATURE ALSO HAS MANY PROBLEMS. IF I FORGET TO TURN IT OFF I CAN BE AT A RED LIGHT AND ONCE IT TURNS GREEN I LET GO OF THE BRAKE AND GO TO HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR IS STILL IN THE PROCESS OF STARTING BACK UP, TAKES ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1-3 SECONDS TO STARTUP. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR ANYMORE. IT WAS FINE UP UNTIL ABOUT 30,000 MILES, BUT IT HAS GONE DOWN HILL SINCE THEN. I AM AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES RIGHT NOW.
The transmission has had issues since we purchased the vehicle. The issues sometimes makes you feel unsafe when accelerating. Issues include hard shifting in lower gears, jerking, lurching, and sudden surges when accelerating. I have complained multiple times to the dealership during routine maintenance visits. They have performed several software updates but does not seem to help.

HATCH DOOR RANDOMLY FAILS TO LATCH WHEN CLOSING. RECYCLE OF START/LOCK/PARK/ENGAGE DOES NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. CAN MANUALLY CLOSE HATCH BUT WILL NOT LOCK/ENGAGE. HATCH IS ELECTRIC, POCKET REMOTE, BUTTON ON DOOR AND BUTTON ON DASH WILL NOT RECYCLE THE LOCK TO ENGAGE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT PARKING LOT, OCCURRED AFTER LOADING AND THEN TRYING TO CLOSE DOOR WITH REMOTE.
WITH OR WITH THE "AUTO-START" FEATURE TURNED ON, WHEN TURNING FROM A STOP OR YIELD (SUCH AS TURNING ACROSS TRAFFIC), PRESSING ON THE THROTTLE PEDAL CAUSES A PAUSE LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT ENGAGING THEN TAKES OFF LIKE YOU SLAMMED ON THE GAS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO AND TAKING IT IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BRINGS NOTHING BUT MORE FRUSTRATION. THIS IS DONE ON HOT OR COLD ENGINES, NO MATTER THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
CAR IS GOING INTO NUETRAL ON ITS OWN SAME AS IN THE S55 RECALL BUT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL PER CHRYSLER. CAR WILL HAVE NOTICE POP UP ON DASH SAYING PUT CAR INTO PARK THEN SWITCH INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT A STOP LIGHT I COULD NOT GET CAR IN GEAR. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND I COULD NOT GET IT TO START AGAIN. IT ALSO HAPPENED AFTER FIRST STARTING THE CAR AND PUTTING IT INTO REVERSE. I HAD TO TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO GET BACK INTO GEAR. BOTH TIMES CAR WAS AT A STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 18 AND 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CHIMING SOUND AND THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WITHIN THREE SECONDS, THE "SHIFT TO PARK DESIGNATED GEAR" WARNING INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (CHRYSLER, DODGE, AND FORD FIAT OF BAY RIDGE, 8635 18TH AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY 11209). THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND NOTIFY THE CONTACT OF THE RESULTS. THE MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO NOTIFY THEM AFTER THE DEALER COMPLETED THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,005.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS AND ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS TURN RED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. THE SECOND TIME, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND A "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" MESSAGE APPEARED. A VALVE THAT WAS STUCK WAS REPLACED 3 MONTHS AGO, NOW THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE IS BACK.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY A PICKUP PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HIT HER HEAD ON. I WAS AT AROUND 40-50 MPH WHEN MY JEEP IMPACTED. THE IMPACT WAS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO RUPTURE THE RADIATOR AND THE FRONT BRAKES BLEW OUT. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE REPORTED THE NO DEPLOY TO JEEP.
MY DAUGHTER WRECKED ON 4/11 AND HER JEEP ROLLED TWICE IN WHICH THE FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE ROOF SMASHED INTO HER HEAD REST RESULTING IN A CONCUSSION, FRACTURED HIP, AND TORN HAMSTRING. SHE WAS LIFELIGHTED. I CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION AND THEY BELIEVED THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OPERATED PROPERLY. THE WRECK REPORT AND COPY OF JEEP'S REPORT IS INCLUDED.
'SERVICE SHIFTER' OCCURRED REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER LIGHT UP AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS COME ON CHECK ENGINE BLINKS THEN STAYS ON. HAS HAD SHIFTER REPLACED ONCE, NOW IN 4 MONTHS TIME IT DID THE SAME THING. BEGINS TO SHIFT HARD AND JERKS SOME WHILE DRIVING MAKING STEERING WHEEL MOVE RAPIDLY FOR A SPLIT SECOND ALL WHILE GOING DOWN ROAD DOING 25-30 MPH
THERMOSTAT NEEDED REPLACED AT 55,000 MILES. THERMOSTAT PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY REPORTED BUT YET NO RECALL. SOME DEALERSHIPS HAVE A 2 MONTH WAIT TO REPLACE BECAUSE OF SUCH A HIGH DEMAND. TRANSMISSION WARNING CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. PULLED OVER AND TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON. CAR SEEMED FINE UNTIL I TOOK IT OVER 55MPH AND IT DID THE SAME THING. HAD TO PULL OVER AGAIN AND TURN IT OFF AND ON. CAR ALMOST STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. TOOK IT THE DEALERSHIP WHO UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. CAR ALREADY NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY ON THE RIDE HOME.
COMMAND VIEW DUAL-PANE PANORAMIC SUNROOF. IS EXTREMELY NOISY WHEN DRIVING. WAS REAFFIXED OR REINSTALLED BY DEALERSHIP AND NOW NOISIER THAN BEFORE. FAULTY AIR BAG WAS REPLACED AT SAME TIME AS HORN WAS NOT WORKING ALSO ??
MY CAR HAS EXACTLY 50,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED IMPECCABLY TO START. ON MARCH 30TH AFTER IT HAD RAINED THE PREVIOUS DAY, WHILE DRIVING ON THE BONNET CARRE SPILLWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 60MPH MY LIFT GATE SEEMED TO UNLATCH AND END RESULT MY BACKPACK CONTAINING MY LAPTOP HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF TEXTBOOKS AND MY APPLE IPAD FLEW OUT. WHEN I PULLED OVER THE LIFT GATE REFUSED TO HATCH AS WELL AS THE BUTTON IN THE CAR AND ON THE FOB TO CLOSE THE TRUNK WOULD NOT WORK. NOT ONLY HAVE I LOST AT LEAST $850 WORTH OF MY ELECTRONICS AND TEXTBOOKS I AM LEFT WITH THE RISK THAT ANYONE CAN GET IN MY CAR VIA THE LIFT GATE THAT WILL NOT CLOSE AND POTENTIALLY STEAL MY CAR. ON APRIL 2ND 2018 AFTER LEAVING WORK FROM THE HOSPITAL I WAS DRIVING ON REGULAR TRAFFIC ROADS BETWEEN 35-55 MILES PER HOUR AND MY JEEP WAS SHIFTING INTO NEAUTRAL SLOWING DOWN AND THE RPM GAUGE WAS ACCELERATING TO 4-5 FOR ONLY 35 MILES PER HOUR. I THEN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL IN WHICH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY ANYONE AND MY VIN WAS INELIGIBLE BUT IF IT WAS I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR AND PAY FOR THE EXPENSE OF A RENTAL CAR. I AM A WIDOWED MOTHER AND A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO JEEP AS THIS IS MY THIRD JEEP AND I AM STUCK WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT IS RIDDLED WITH CONSTANT RECALLS THAT IS UNSAFE FOR MY 4 YEAR OLD AND 15 MONTH CHILD AND I AM ON A SINGLE INCOME AND UNABLE TO PAY FOR REPAIR EXPENSES OR A RENTAL CAR AND I DO NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO MISS WORK OR SCHOOL. CAN YOU INFORM ME WHY MY VIN IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL AND I AM HAVING ALL THE ISSUES THAT ARE CURRENTLY RECALLED AND WHY WOULD I NOT BE REIMBURSED OR PROVIDED WITH THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO COVER THE REPAIR AND OR A RENTAL VEHICLE?

THE SHIFTING IS DELAYED. I WILL BE STOPPED AND WHEN I GO TO START IT DELAYS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED MANY ACCIDENTS WHEN PULLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THE DELAY. IT IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS.

WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE WILL EITHER ACCELERATE WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SLOWING DOWN OR SLOW DOWN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. ON A FEW OCCASIONS IN CITY STREETS IT HAS INCREASED IN SPEED WHILE CLOSE TO STOPPING AT ABOUT 2 TO 3 MILES PER HOUR AND I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I AM GLAD I WAS QUICK ENOUGH AND HAD MORE THAN THE REQUIRED SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I ALSO HAD OTHER INSTANCES WHEN I AM ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, AT A SLOW SPEED AND IT HAS SLIPPED GEARS AND ACCELERATED VERY QUICKLY. I CAN'T FEEL THE JERK AND THEN THE QUICK JUMP IN SPEED. I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL GET IN AN ACCIDENT IF IT KEEPS JUMPING GEARS WHEN IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH WHAT I ASSUME IS THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN STOPPED ON AN INCLINE, WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BUCKS AND MAKES LOTS OF NOISE. IT SOUNDS LIKE GEARS ARE GRINDING AND IT IS FIGHTING TO GET TRACTION. ALSO, WHEN BACK UP MY DRIVEWAY IT FEELS LIKE THE REAR WHEELS ARE SLIPPING AND FIGHT TO GET TRACTION AS WELL. IT STARTED TO HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON A FLAT SURFACE AT LIKE 30 MPH AS WELL. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS MADE IT LESS FREQUENT. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I HAVE TAKEN VIDEOS OF THE PROBLEM OCCURING.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM AUTO NATION CHRYSLER JEEP & DODGE IN ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA ON APRIL 19, 2015, TO TOW FOUR WHEELS DOWN BEHIND OUR MOTORHOME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS READY TO TOW WITH A TOUCH OF A BUTTON. ON TWO OCCASIONS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE FRONT WHEEL WOBBLE WHILE TOWING THE VEHICLE, LUCKILY AT SLOW SPEEDS DOWN THE ROAD. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG. WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT WE NOW HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED ON OUR VEHICLE TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND IT IS AT OUR COST. THE COST OF THIS WIRING HARNESS AND INSTALLATION IS OVER $700.00. WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THEY HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER/JEEP FOR AN ANSWER. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR SIX WEEKS NOW, WITH STILL NO ANSWER. WE ARE NOW COMING UP ON OUR TRAVELING TIME AND CAN NOT TOW OUR CAR AND GO ON ANY TRIPS DUE TO THE LIABILITY OF THIS SITUATION. WE CERTAINLY WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE HAVING KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM NOW WITH THIS VEHICLE.PLEASE HELP US GET THIS RESOLVED
STOP/START NOT AVAILABLE SERVICE SOFT/START SYSTEM THE MESSAGE HAS BEEN RANDOMLY APPEARING WHEN DIVING.
