WAS DRIVING CAR AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. AUTO ON/OFF ACTIVATED AT STOP LIGHT. WHEN I RELEASED BRAKE CAR TRIED TO TURN ON, BUT STALLED. PUT CAR IN PARK AND STARTED CAR. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP. THEY PERFORMED UPDATES ON CAR. GOT CAR BACK CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ACTIVATE. TOOK CAR BACK CRUISE CONTROL STARTED WORKING THEY SAID NO PROBLEM FOUND. WAS DRIVING CAR AND APPLIED BRAKES WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. WHEN I RELEASED BRAKES CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD TOWARDS CAR IN FRONT OF ME. HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER, THEY REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH.GOT CAR BACK AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. DEALERSHIP SAYS NOTHING WRONG WITH CAR. GOT CAR BACK DROVE CAR FOR A MONTH AND A HALF OR SO THEN POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING IN PARKING LOT. TOOK TO DEALER, THEY SAID IT HAD A BAD STEERING RACK. NATIONAL BACK-ORDER FOR 5 MONTHS. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE PART WITHIN A MONTH AND A HALF. CAR SEEMS TO HAVE MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT AFFECT SAFETY OPERATIONS.
***SERVICE SHIFTER****THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR UPDATES 3X IN THE PAST MONTH. DURING THE TIME THE LIGHT IS ON, I FEEL THE CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN WHEN DRIVING AND REEVING WHEN STOPPED. THE CONTINUING UPDATES ARE COSTLY NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY.
TRANSMISSION SKIPS AND LURCHES FORWARD DIFFERENTLY THAN EXPECTED. SHIFTS VERY HARD AT TIMES WITH A AUDIBLE CLUCK UNDER THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, IT STARTED TO ROLL AWAY UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE WAS NO WARNING BEFORE THE FAILURE. AN ONLOOKER JUMPED INTO THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT FROM MOVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DARCARS ORANGE PARK CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (7233 BLANDING BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32244) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING ON THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE MORNING FOR 4 DAYS. STARTS UP AND IT'S FINE AFTER THAT. YESTERDAY WHILE VIDEOING IT TO SHOW A DEALER, I HEARD A DING. SAW NOTHING ON THE PANEL. REVIEWED THE VIDEO, AND I CAN ONLY SPECULATE IT SAID OIL PRESSURE LOW. IT LASTED LESS THAN HALF A SECOND AND DISAPPEARED. I CHECKED MY OIL AND FOUND IT TO BE BARELY REGISTERING ON THE STICK. IT TOOK 2 1/2 QUARTS TO FILL IT. MY OIL CHANGE STICKER STATES I'M 1200 MILES AWAY FROM THE 4000 MARK THE DEALER PUTS ON IT. I WAS TOLD TODAY BY A JEEP DEALER, THAT THE 2.4 ENGINE IN THE CHEROKEE WILL USE A QUART OF OIL EVERY 750-1000 MILES IF OVER 50,000 MILES. I HAVE 56,580 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN OIL IS LOW, THE CAR WILL STALL TO PREVENT DAMAGE AS A SAFETY FEATURE. UNFORTUNATELY THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO COAST ACROSS A BUSY TWO LANE ROAD WHILE MAKING A TURN, SO I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT. IT THEN TAKES 2-3 TIME TO CRANK IT OVER TO RESTART IT. THIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 40,009 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERS SAY THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR THIS ENGINE TO BURN OIL. I DON'T BELIEVE ANY MANURACTURER SHOULD SELL VEHICLES THAT "BURN" OIL AT A QUART PER 1000 MILES. I BOUGHT A NEWER CAR FOR LESS MAINTENANCE. NOW I HAVE TO ADD OIL ONCE A MONTH TO MY CAR. NOT TO MENTION THAT IF A DUMMY LIGHT OR MESSAGE COMES ON REGARDING SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL TO SHUT YOUR CAR OFF, WHY DOES THE MESSAGE ONLY FLASH SO YOU CAN'T EVEN READ IT? I HAD TO WATCH THE VIDEO TO SEE POSSIBLY WHAT IT SAID. I AM UNABLE TO SEND THE VIDEO FROM MY PHONE BECAUSE IT IS TOO LARGE. I'M TRYING TO GET IT TO SYNC SO I CAN SEND IT. THIS IS THE FLASH OF THE WARNING MESSAGE, NOT AN ACTUAL STALL.
DURING NORMAL OPERATION THE VEHICLE WILL SHIFT VERY HARD AT INITIAL ENGAGEMENT OF THE POWER TRAIN AND SOMETIMES AFTER REACHING 4TH OR 5TH GEAR. THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD VERY HARD. THE SOME TIMES CAUSE A MAJOR WHIPLASH ACTION ON THE PASSENGER. SITTING AT A LIGHT THE POWER TRAIN WILL NOCK HARD WHEN ENGAGING THE GEARS, ALSO AFTER REACHING ABOUT 10MPH IT SEEMS TO MISS A GEAR.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power causing the vehicle to jerk back and forth and eventually stall. After a few minutes, the contact restarted the vehicle and was able to continue to their destination, however, the failure persisted several times thereafter. The contact noticed after doing an oil change the vehicle would consume a lot of oil and shortly after the oil change check engine warning light would illuminate. The contact checked the oil level and found the level low. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to have it inspected, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure continued and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed as a multi-air actuator with the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 143,000.
FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS, MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS BEEN AT AN AUTO BODY SHOP TO REPAIR DAMAGE MADE FROM A BREAK IN. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN MY CAR SINCE SEPTEMBER 22ND. THIS MORNING, AFTER FINALIZING THE PAPERWORK WITH THE REPAIR FACILITY AND PAYING A DEDUCTIBLE, I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY DRIVE MY JEEP AGAIN. PULLED OUT OF THE BODY SHOP'S PARKING LOT, ONTO A CITY STREET, DROVE NOT EVEN A QUARTER OF A MILE AND MAYBE A MINUTE OR SO INTO THE DRIVE AND THE DASHBOARD ICON OF THE BATTERY ILLUMINATED, THE NOTIFICATION SOUND PLAYED, AND THE CAR SLOWED TO A STOP AGAIN. ALSO, THE NOTIFICATION CENTER DISPLAYED "SHIFT TO PARK". LUCKILY THIS TIME I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I SHIFTED INTO PARK, PLACED MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, AND WAVED THE CARS THAT WERE BEHIND ME TO DRIVE AROUND. MADE THE ATTEMPT TO RESTART TWICE WITH NO SUCH LUCK. THE THIRD ATTEMPT SAW THE CAR TURN BACK ON SUCCESSFULLY. THE REPAIR FACILITY THAT I LEFT IS THANKFULLY A FEW MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I LEASE THE CHEROKEE. I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER, PLACED THE CAR IN FRONT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND WALKED IN TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER TALKING WITH ONE MEMBER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, HE STATED THAT HE WOULD TRY TO SQUEEZE THE CHEROKEE IN FOR SOME TESTING BUT COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT BECAUSE THERE WERE MANY CARS SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE AND ONLY ONE PERSON AVAILABLE TO POSSIBLY LOOK AT MY CAR. FINALLY, AFTER A FEW HOURS IN THE CUSTOMER WAITING AREA, I WAS TOLD THAT THE JEEP WAS LOW ON OIL. AND THAT THE CHEROKEE ALONG WITH THE CHRYSLER 200, AND ANOTHER CAR THAT I CANNOT REMEMBER AT THE MOMENT ARE DESIGNED TO STALL WHEN THE AMOUNT OF OIL BECOMES LOW. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE SAID THAT THIS WAS A "EUROPEAN DESIGN SAFETY FEATURE" FOR THE CAR. I KEPT THE CHEROKEE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM ON THIS UPCOMING MONDAY THE 10TH OF OCTOBER.
MY JEEP CHEROKEE HAS THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION. I WENT TO START THE CAR IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES TO START WHEN IT DID THE CAR DROPPED HARD INTO GEAR AND ALL OF THE SERVICE TRANS LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET HOME AS THE CAR WAS HAVING A VERY HARD TIME GETTING INTO GEAR AND STAYED IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE MODE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY DRIVE TRAN WARRANTY COVERED THE COST AND I JUST NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. FOUR DAYS LATER I WAS DRIVING WITH MY HUSBAND AND 8 MONTH OLD BABY AND WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN THE CAR DIED AND AGAIN TOOK SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART, ALL TRANS LIGHTS CAME ON AND COULD NOT GET INTO GEAR, WE HAD TO DRIVE SLOWLY HOME WITH OUR HAZARDS ON AND NEARLY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC WHEN IT KEPT SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR.
I HAVE A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 25K MILES ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION WILL COME OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN ON SECONDARY ROADS. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT RE-ENGAGE UNTIL I STOP THE VEHICLE AND MAKE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. USUALLY IT WILL BEGIN WITH THE RADIO ACTING UP, THEN GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS WILL START FLASHING. I HAVE A DETAILED VIDEO IF INTERESTED. DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND I SUDDENLY HAVE NO POWER. I COULD PUSH THE THROTTLE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESPONSE. I HAD TO MAKE IT ACROSS MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC GOING 75MPH AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER. I TRIED RESTARTING AND IT SHUTTERED AND DIED, TWICE. LET IT SIT FOR A MIN AND THEN IT RESTARTED. IT HAPPENED 2 DAYS LATER. THIS TIME I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN AND I HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I SLAMMED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT SHUTTERED AND GOT POWER AGAIN.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER LIT UP
BRAKES ARE CONTANTLY BEING CHANGED. THE CAR SHAKES WHEN BRAKING AT ALL TIMES. BATTERY ALWAYS NEEDS CHARGED. THE CAR WILL TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY DUE TO BATTERY. IT HAS STOPPED AT STOP LIGHTS AND IT HAS STOPPED ON I70 GOING TOWARDS HAGERSTOWN, MD AND SEVERAL CITY STREETS. IT HAS BEEN CHANGED AND STILL NEEDS CHARGING. CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT GO TO SPEED DESIRED AND WILL NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN DECREASING THE SPEED. SHIFTING GEARS SWITCHES TO NEUTRAL UNEXPECTEDLY. CAR ALSO LUNGES WHILE IN DRIVE AS IF GEARS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. THIS WILL HAPPEN ON ALL ROADS REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED.
MY JEEP'S TRANSMISSION IN GEARS 1 AND 2 WILL SPORADICALLY HAVE ISSUES WITH HESITATIONS, STALLING, JERKING THE CAR FORWARD, AND LOUD CLUNK SOUNDS DURING SHIFTING. I WILL BE AT A STOP SIGN STOPPED, PUSH THE GAS TO GO AND IT WILL HESITATE FOR 1 SECOND, THEN JOLT FORWARD WHEN IT DECIDES TO MOVE. ONE INSTANCE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND WANTED TO GO FASTER, I PRESSED ON THE GAS AND IT ALL OF SUDDEN SEEMED TO HAVE STALLED OUT. GAS WAS NOT DOING ANYTHING FOR A GOOD 5 SECONDS. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AS MY SPEED WAS DECLINING AND THEN IT KICKED IN AND WENT. AS OF RECENT, IT HAS STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD CLUNK SOUND AND SLIGHT JERK WHEN MOVING FROM LOW GEARS WHILE IN MOTION. AGAIN THIS IS ALL SPORADIC. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. I BROUGHT IT INTO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THE ISSUE. THEY FLASHED THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENT BOTH TIMES. FLASHING SEEMED TO HELP FOR A FEW WEEKS, THEN IT SLOWLY WENT BACK TO THE SPORADIC BEHAVIOR. NOTE: THIS HAS BEEN OVER 3 YEARS, NOT ONCE SPECIFIC INSTANCE.
AT 47,351 MILES THE CYLINDER HEAD ON CYLINDER # 4 FAILED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL AND RUN ROUGH. JEEP DEALER IS REPLACING IT UNDER A FACTORY WARRANTY
RANDOMLY THE VEHICLE FEELS AS IF SOMEONE IS HITTING THE CAR FROM THE FRONT END WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE DUE TO A VERY HARD SHIFT INTO REVERSE. RANDOMLY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL SHUT OFF WHEN PARKED AND TURNING THE CAR ON. THE AUTO ON/OFF WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON. I HESITATED REPORTING THIS THINKING THAT IT WAS PROBABLY JUST BAD LUCK BUT BECAUSE OF A CONVERSATION WITH A CO-WORKER WHO IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS I THOUGHT THAT IT MAY BE A SYMPTOM OF A LARGER PROBLEM AND SOMETHING I SHOULD REPORT. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS IT COULD BE A DISASTER.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO CORTLAND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (3878 WEST RD, CORTLAND, NY 13045 (877) 279-3113), BUT NO DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND AND THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,500.

THE FAILURES RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE COMPUTER WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND "SERVICE THE SHIFTER" ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE SHIFTER MODULE WAS GREASED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
FCA'S UCONNECT APP FOR IPHONE RANDOMLY LAUNCHES ON MY IPHONE WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN IT LAUNCHES, IT TAKES AWAY MY ABILITY TO SEE NAVIGATION SOFTWARE (E.G. WAZE, APPLE MAPS, ON MY CELL PHONE. I THEN NEED TO DIVERT MY ATTENTION TO THE PHONE AND DISABLE THE UCONNECT APP. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO DO IT MORE THAN ONCE. THIS IS DISTRACTING AND UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED.
2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSAXLE RANGE SENSOR WIRE HARNESS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE COMPLICATIONS WITH HAVING THE RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED BY THE DEALERSHIPS. UPDATED 11/27/2017*JS
I PARKED THE JEEP AND TURNED IT OFF AND WHEN INSIDE FOR 10 MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR TO LEAVE AND A BUNCH OF LIGHTS CAME ON LIKE SERVICE ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN. I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND A HUGE CLUNK FROM THE TRANSMISSION HAPPENED I BACKED UP AND PUT IT IN FORWARD AND A HUGE CLUNK HAPPENED AGAIN. IT SHOCKED THE WHOLE CAR. I WENT FORWARD AND IT BARLEY WOULD GO. IT TOOK ALONG TIME TO GET UP TO SPEED. IT KIND OF SHOOK AND WAS REALLY SCAREY. I BROUGHT IT TO THE JEEP DEALER AND BARELY MADE IT. THE GUY SAID THE TECHS WHERE ALL GONE FOR THE DAY. I COULDN'T LEAVE IT THERE SO I STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WORKED FINE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON THOUGH. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED IT UP AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF. IT WORKED FINE FOR 3 DAYS UNTIL IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN THE SAME STUFF. SO I TURNED IT OFF AND STARTED IT 10 MINUTES LATER AND IT WAS FINE. IT IS A LEASED JEEP AND I AM GOING TO BRING IT IN THIS FRIDAY. I WANT THIS FIXED. I HAVE READ LOTS OF THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH 100S OF OTHER PEOPLE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE JUST GIVING PEOPLE THE RUN AROUND. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I WANT A NEW JEEP OR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I DO NOT HAVE ANY TIME TO BE GOING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ALL THE TIME OR DO I WANT TO DIE IN A CAR ACCIDENT. THE NEXT THING THAT HAPPENS A THAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING IS THAT IT WILL SHIFT OUT OF GEAR ON THE FREEWAY AND LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE ALMOST CRASHED BECAUSE OF THIS. DRIVING HOME THE ONLY LIGHTS I HAD WAS THE TOP LED LIGHTS, SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS AND RADIO LIGHT. NO THER LIGHTS WORKED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. IF THE LIGHTS DID WORK WHEN I TURNED MY TURN SIGNAL ON THE LIGHT WENT OFF.
CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE FROM 3RD INTO 4TH GEAR AT TIMES. IT HAS A LAG TIME BEFORE IT SWITCHES GEARS INTO 4TH ON A 9-SPEED AUTOMATIC.
I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AS A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED FORM A DODGE DEALER. MY TRANSMISSION IS ALREADY GOING OUT . TODAY ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR ACCELERATED FROM 65 MPH TO 75 MPH ON ITS OWN. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR.
CAR IS BURNING OIL AND SHUTTING OFF ON THE ROAD, WHICH I OR MY CHILDREN, CAN EASILY GET HURT OR KILLED. HAVE TRIED TO HAVE RESOLVED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH UNSATISFACTORY RESULTS FROM THE CAR LOT. AS ADVISED FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER THIS IS NORMAL UNDER CHRYSLER STANDARDS.
SOMETIMES, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR (AROUND 32 MPH), IT DOES A VERY HARD SHIFT AND THERE IS A NOTICEABLE CLUNKING NOISE THROUGHOUT THE CAR.

THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES ALL START FLASHING, THE WIPERS START SWIPING, THE DISPLAY SCREEN BEGINS FLASHING ON AND OFF, THE PRNDL STARTS FLASHING AND BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE, AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGINS DISPLAYING MULTIPLE ERROR MESSAGES, AS IF THEY CAR HAS BECOME POSSESSED. THE SCARIEST PART IS WHEN THE PARK BRAKES LOCKS UP, NO MATTER WHAT SPEED YOU ARE TRAVELLING AT. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION TWICE WHEN THE CAR MALFUNCTIONED AND LOCKED UP, AND JUST YESTERDAY WAS SITTING IN A MCDONALD'S DRIVE THROUGH WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED. MY WIFE IS NOW TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE AFTER FOUR TIMES OF THE SAME ISSUE. OUR FEAR IS THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN ON A CROWDED FREEWAY, AND A SEMI BEHIND US WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AVOID HITTING US BECAUSE OUR PARK BRAKE HAS LOCKED UP. THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS ON THE INTERNET. TRANSMISSION IS INCONSISTENT IN GEARS 1-3. SOMETIMES HESITATES TO MOVE IN FIRST GEAR. ALL RECALLS HAVE DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS ISSUES. JEEP DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND ADVISES IT'S ALL SOFTWARE ISSUES THAT THEY CAN'T FIX.
WHILE ROLLING AT LOW SPEEDS, IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL SECONDS FOR THE JEEP TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN POWER IS APPLIED. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS IN THE FCA VEHICLES, AND WE HAVE HAD THE JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW UNSAFE THIS IS. WHEN THE POWER IS NEEDED, ONE OF THESE DAYS, IT MAY DELAY TOO LONG, AND WE COULD GET IN A WRECK. A PERSON SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID TO DRIVE THEIR VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T FEEL THAT IT IS RELIABLE ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY ACCELERATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED. FCA HAS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED THAT IT WILL BE REPLACING THE DOG CLUTCH IN THE TRANSMISSIONS WITH A STANDARD CLUTCH TO FIX THIS ISSUE GOING FORWARD, BUT THEY STILL NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING THE CARS THEY HAVE ALREADY SOLD WORK RELIABLY. THIS HAPPENED REGULARLY, SO THERE IS NO SINGLE EVENT DATE THAT I CAN EASILY STATE.

SHIFTER--THE VEHICLE IS RENDERED INOPERABLE WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR TO DRIVE. WHILE WE'VE TRIED TO FIND A PATTERN, THE ISSUE'S RECURRENCE IS UNPREDICTABLE AND HAS YET TO BE DIAGNOSED DESPITE COUNTLESS TRIPS TO AND CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR DEALER AND WITH CHRYSLER. THIS IS THE SECOND REPORT WE'VE FILED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE WITH THE NHTSA (6/19/18). SUMMARY: THE DASH DISPLAYS/FLASHES "SERVICE SHIFTER"/ALL OTHER COMPONENT LIGHTS, WARNING BELLS RING AND EVERY GEAR LIGHT ON THE SHIFTER LEVER ILLUMINATES. THEY ONLY WILL SAY THAT THE CAR IS LOSING COMMUNICATIONS AND DESPITE ALL THAT'S BEEN DONE TO THIS POINT, CAN'T GUARANTEE THEY'LL EVER BE ABLE TO DETERMINE A FIX FOR IT. THE PCM HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED FOUR TIMES; TCM HAS BEEN REPLACED/UPDATED FOUR TIMES; SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY REPLACED; SHIFT LEVER GREASED; TRANS AXLE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED TWO TIMES; SHIFT LEVER BEZEL/WIRING REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL- I HAD A RECALL DONE ON MY VEHICLE. IT NO LONGER ACCELERATES PROPERLY. WHEN AT A STOP, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED THE VEHICLE TAKES SECONDS TO MOVE AND THEN JERKS FORWARD.
WHIE DRIVING I NOTICED SHIFTING WAS PRONOUNCED. TOOK JEEP FOR SERVICING. TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AT SERVICE STATION , THEY ORDERED ME A RENTAL CAR AND HAD MY CAR FOR 5 DAYS. SAID THEY PUT TRANSMISSION MODULE ON, ONE WEEK LATER I WAS IN A PARKING LOT I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE AND HEARD LOUD CLUNK, SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO SERVICE PROVIDERS AND IT IS STILL THERE.I HAVE A RENTAL CAR AGAIN
BLUE OX BX1136 VERSION 0 BASEPLATES WERE USED ON THIS CAR TO PULL IT BEHIND A MOTORHOME. THE BASEPLATE DESIGN PLACED EXCESSIVE STRESS ON THE JEEP'S ALUMINUM FRAME COMPONENTS THAT RESULTED IN THEIR WELDS TO FATIGUE, CRACK AND FAIL AND INCREASED THE PROBABILITY THAT THE JEEP COULD DETACH DURING TOWING. A DETACHED CAR IS A SIGNIFICANT HAZZARD TO VEHICLES AND PEOPLE. BLUE OX HAS SINCE REVISED THE DESIGN OF THE BASEPLATES TO REDUCE THE STRESS APPLIED TO THE ALUMINUM FRAME COMPONENTS, BUT DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE DESIGN REVISION. I ONLY LEARNED OF THE REVISION AFTER MY FRAME COMPONENTS HAD FAILED AND I WAS AT SIGNIFICANT RISK OF LOSING THE CAR DURING TOWING. IN ADDITION, I HAVE INSPECTED ONE OTHER CHEROKEE USING THE SAME DESIGN BASEPLATES AND FOUND THAT THEIR ALUMINUM FRAME COMPONENTS HAVE FAILED SIMILAR TO MINE. I BELIEVE THAT BLUE OX NEEDS TO IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY ALL OWNERS OF THE BX1136 ORIGINAL DESIGN BASEPLATES AND ISSUE A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING FROM A COLD START, THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY STALL AND A MESSAGE WOULD POP-UP INDICATING "SHIFT TO P AND SELECT DESIRED GEAR" ALONG WITH THE BATTERY LIGHT INDICATOR. THE CAR WOULD THEN NEED TO BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND ATTEMPT TO RESTART, WHICH WOULD TAKE AT LEAST 2 RESTARTS BEFORE THE CAR WOULD START. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING, FIRST ON A SUBURBAN STREET AND THEN ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY GAS CAP LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 2 YEARS. I APPARENTLY AM THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE AS THEY NEED A FLASH TO RESET THE MOTHERBOARD. IN THE MEANTIME TO RULE THINGS OUT I HAD TO HAVE THE VAPOR TEST DONE AND REPLACE THE GAS CAP WHICH OF COURSE SOLVEE NOTHING.

I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHY I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS COULD HAPPEN AND HE SAID THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL AND THERE IS ALSO NO WARNING THIS WILL HAPPEN OR IF IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. A FEW DAYS LATER I DROVE IT TO A LOCATION WHERE I STAYED FOR 2 HOURS, LEFT AND GOT HOME WHERE I STAYED FOR A FEW MINUTES. CAME BACK OUT TO USE THE VEHICLE BUT THE ENGINE DIDN'T 'TURN OVER' . CALLED THE SERVICE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY. THEY RE-BOOT THE CAR & I LET THE ENGINE RUN FOR 1/2 HR. PER HIS INSTRUCTION. THE WENT TO A DRIVE THRU AND DECIDED TO HEAD HOME BUT SHORTLY AFTER THE JEEP SHUTS OFF AT A STOP LIGHT. I WAITED 5 MIN THEN RESTART AND HEADED HOME WITH MY HAZARD LIGHT FLASHING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND GOT 'AN AVAILABLE' APPOINTMENT FOUR DAY THEREAFTER.
I BOUGHT MY JEEP WITH 12,000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3X SO FAR FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUES. TRANSMISSION CLUNKING, LURCHING, WONT DOWN SHIFT AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN IN TRAFFIC BELOW 20MPH SOME TIMES IT REVS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND DOESN'T MOVE AND THEN THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD. SOMETIMES IT JUST HAS NO ACCELERATION LIKE ITS STUCK A FEW GEARS TOO HIGH. THE SHIFT GOING INTO 5TH GEAR SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE I GOT REARENED IT SHIFTS SO HARD. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE JERKS BACK AND FOURTH AND HAS A METALLIC BANG GOING INTO 5TH. THE 5TH GEAR HARD SHIFT IS INTERMITTENT. THE BOGGING, LURCHING AND REFUSAL TO DOWN SHIFT AT SLOWER SPEEDS IS CONSTANT. DEALER HAS YET TO BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING BUT COMPUTER UPDATES. THEY SAY ITS "NORMAL". IT IS VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT ITS GOING TO DO WHEN YOU TRY AND ACCELERATE. I CAN'T COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES I HAVE TRIED TO CROSS IN BETWEEN TRAFFIC AND THE TRUCK REFUSES TO GO OR JUST MOVES AT A TURTLE SPEED.ONCE I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR HARD ENOUGH IT WILL DOWN SHIFT HARD ENOUGH TO BREAK THE TIRES LOOSE AND PEEL OUT WHEN IT LURCHES AHEAD. IT IS VERY TROUBLING AND I DON'T WANT TO LET ANYONE BESIDES MYSELF DRIVE IT BECAUSE I DONT WANT THEM TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT. I CAN ALSO ASSUME THAT ALL OF THESE HARD SHIFTS ARE CAUSING A LOT OF PREMATURE WEAR ON MY DRIVE TRAIN. ITS LIKE PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, REVVING IT UP AND THEN SLAMMING IT INTO GEAR. IT IS A DAILY OCCURENCE.

IF STOPPED ON A HILL, IT WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS. VERY DANGEROUS. THE RPM'S FREQUENTLY WENT HIGH BEFORE SHIFTING. I JUST BOUGHT THIS A MONTH AGO. NOTICED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MANY PEOPLE GETTING NEW TRANSMISSION AFTER LONG BATTLES WITH THE DEALER AND PUT IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. SOME WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. JEEP IN SHOP ALREADY. HELP!
THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE CAME ACROSS THE SCREEN AND THE VEHICLE LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURRED ON AN INTERSTATE AT 72 MPH IN THE FAST LANE.
