Yesterday, I began experiencing transmission-related issues: rough, delayed or sudden shifting; grinding noise during shifting; harsh engagement of gears; and reduced power when shifting. The ‘Service Shifter’ indicator came on while driving. This is an ongoing transmission issue I have experienced with my 2015 Jeep Cherokee and I believe that this persistent problem is compromising the safety of myself and my passengers.
The lug nuts have continued to swell over time. They have either fallen off or become close to impossible to remove for the dealer. Dealer stated that it is a known issue, but an official recall has not been executed yet.
I received a recall notice from JEEP for "2.4L In-use NOx - catalyst efficiency". When I call the number provided (847) 649-6660, they tell me they don't have the part in stock and to call back in 3 weeks. After months of this repeated process I called JEEP's main customer service number and they basically told me too bad and gave me a bunch of different numbers to call but all of them tell me there's nothing they can do and its possible that I can go to another state or that they might be able to get the parts by December at one of the Illinois locations. I can't make a scheduled appointment or be put on a wait list. These Jeep dealerships are purposely putting people in safety risk because they don't make money doing the recall and are getting away with it by saying "we don't have the parts, call back in a month" knowing people will get frustrated and never get it done.
Received safety recall notice in June 2023. Signed up 6/30/2023 Ref # 85688012 to be notified of when defect for power liftgate module would be fixed. May lead to vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. Still shows remedy is not currently available. Thought it would be corrected by the end of July. This problem has not been addressed in a timely matter.
Since acquiring my vehicle, I have had to replace the flex pipe three times. I have experienced recurrent issues with the exhaust system, requiring multiple repairs to address the same problem, which has resulted in ongoing frustration and inconvenience.

•What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A. The drive train PTU and it is available for inspection upon request. •How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A. According to FCA this problem could cause an accident as I could lose all power while driving if it fails completely while in motion and I have not been able to use my 4WD drive reliably when needed. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A. The problem is a known issue by FCA. At Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Warrenton the service writer told me that my vehicle was not throwing out the right code for the work to be covered by warranty, however now Chrysler is saying that because my code C14A7-97 does not align with the codes under this "warranty" they will not cover this replacement. The codes that are under this warranty are P1720-00 and P215C-00. Chrysler is aware that this part is faulty and should be held responsible for fixing this as it could be deadly. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? A. Yes, I took my vehicle to Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Warrenton on [XXX] to have a problem with the service 4x4 dash light continuously coming on diagnosed and repaired. •Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A. Yes, the Service 4x4 MIL light started coming on almost daily. I first noticed the problem about 3 years after purchasing the vehicle and mentioned it to the dealer and they applied the [XXX] software patch. This did not fix the issue. I've been waiting for months to fix the latest recall as part of the 'park outside' campaign, of which we received notice several months ago. This vehicle should never have been sold due to the 11 recalls it's had. I want out of this vehicle and loan. Please advise.
The contact owned a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while parked, the vehicle suddenly jumped into gear crashing into the rear of the vehicle in front. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed. The contact stated shortly after the crash while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the instrument panel flashed and the vehicle stalled. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. The vehicle was deemed destroyed. A police report was filed. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
Transmission has been a problem since purchase. Numerous repairs done without success and finally they replaced the entire transmission. Still had problems. Car has only 93,000 miles on it and now the Power transfer Unit is failing. I understand that it was replaced when they put in the new transmission. Noticed a large number of complaints about PTU on line. Why hasn’t this been recalled? It was in Canada.
Rear Differential. It is available for inspection. Problem confirmed by 3 auto establishments. AAA, Jeep Auto Nation Dealership and John's Auto Care. Jeep dealer confirmed problem 7/10/23 and will order new parts. It was first discovered @ oil & filter change at AAA. I wanted the dealership to examine problem and confirm. Also, I had a third inspection to verify damage. Please see the attached verifications.
Anti skid dash light is on. Won’t turn off. Car is not drivable. Locked up and swerving from side to side
Recently my service 4WD light came on in June 2023. My 4 WD system is completely unusable. It is deactivated according to system. It was on for a week before I could get into a shop. This has caused my Jeep to get stuck in gravel and spin out when trying to get grip as the system doesn't engage to help. My parking lot at work is gravel so this is a daily occurrence. This renders my Jeep and unusable in bad weather and or adverse conditions. We live in the mountains and not having this available makes it possible of getting stuck and being stuck. Which is a safety hazard for me. I could get hit by passing vehicles or if car ends up going into limp mode it could cause an accident. When I took in to shop/ independent service to have inspected and find out what was going on I was informed it is the PTU system and replacement parts are currently nearly impossible to get as there are backorders and parts are not able to be produced quick enough to meet demand of so many Jeep owners with the same issues. It could be up to a year to get fixed and is incredibly costly. If so many Jeeps are experiencing this same thing then it is a manufactuer issue. Why have they not recalled. I did call Jeep Monroe in Monroe WA and spoke with service and they verified there is a backorder with very long waitlist and no timeline for how long it would take for parts. And that this is a COMMON issue with Jeep right now.

In June 2023, the consumer received a notice for NHTSA Safety Recall Campaign No. 15V-826. The consumer made an appointment with the local dealer, but was advised that the remedy is not available at this time. Also , the consumer is concerned about the "park the vehicle outside" warning cited in the recall notice. The consumer proposes a prompt repair or the use of replacement vehicle until the recall is available.
Electronic emergency brake locked up while reversing, just went on by itself, unable to move car and i couldn’t get it off or get in a gear to move the car at all I had myself and my grandbaby in the car at the time Now the odometer is flashing and the “A” button that would shut engine off at a light, but no warning lights before this incident - a message is showing now “Service emergency brake” along with the icons that go with the emergency brake I called Dodge Service center from my car, no help, just suggested it be towed in -they said never heard of it doing that, has to be looked at Been searching this problem seems I’m not the only one this has happened to
Knocking could lead to engine freeze. Caused by faulty rocker in engine.
A couple of issues are occurring and this is all over the internet as well and I have decided to file a complaint as this vehicle should be recalled. Most recently the car shuts off while driving and need to coast into the breakdown lane. The transmission shifts very rough as well as this model in addition the engine seems to eat the oil as well. I purchased the vehicle brand new and have consistently gotten oil changes, but a year ago when I brought this vehicle in the dealer advised I had no oil, but I got oil changes every 4-5K miles. I should not need to be pouring oil into the car. This is well known issue all over the internet with this engine. What happens is the car will shut off randomly when driving as a fail sale. In addition most recently the will shut off and there is oil in the engine, but it starts jerking the engine as if it is trying to change gears and then the car loses the ability to accelerate and actually deaccelerate. I have to pull over and the car will not drive. I have to turn the car off and let it sit for a minute or two and then turn it back on. This is highly dangerous as someone can smash into the back of the car while i am driving since the car loses power. I have brought the car in numerous times to the shop over the years due to the transmission/engine failures. This engine/transmission needs to be recalled as these cars should not be on the road. Most recently I brought it back to the dealer and they advised they could not replicate the problem. It is back in the shop today as well 5/31/23 as the incident occurred again 3 days after. I have some video I can email as well.
I am complaining regarding an unresolved recall issue. Its been since May 2023, initial publication said it would be resolved by the end of the 2nd quarter now they are not saying when it will be resolved.
Stellaris (Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep) issued an urgent recall for my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk in May, 2023, related to the electric liftgate (recall 49A), notifying me that I should not park my vehicle indoors, as it can spontaneously catch fire. I can neither park in my garage at home (which violates my HOA terms) nor at work (which is underground) and be in compliance with the recall. I'm also unable to sell the vehicle back to the dealer. As of today, 1/29/2024, nine months later, I talked to both my local dealer and FCA directly on their helpline. There is no repair available and FCA confirmed by phone that there is 'no timeline available' for parts availability. This is unacceptable, as recall repairs should be completed in a timely fashion. I can be contacted at [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an unknown speed, the “4WD System Unavailable - Service Required" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective power transfer unit. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000(Power Train) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls associated with the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
this has been going on for almost two months and there is no solution?! I have a 2 year old that sits in my back seat and you think I can have her in the vehicle when the back of my car could start fire at any time next to the freaking gas tank?!?!?!?! Take this vehicle back!!!!!!!
POWER TRANSFER UNIT WENT OUT. SERVICE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT IN TO A JEEP DEALER TO HAVE THEM FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING OUT
Parking brake locked and would not release. Issue occurred while driving - luckily at low speed (apx 5mph) while in parking lot. Could not move vehicle since parking brake would not release. Impeded traffic in aisle. I am concerned that this could have happened while driving on surface streets or highway. If so, this would have created a very dangerous situation since the vehicle immediately came to an uncontrolled stop and was immobilized. Could not locate any sort of manual override for releasing brake. Had to have vehicle towed. There were no previous issues with parking brake. Cycled power/start several time to try and reset. No changes. Disconnected battery for 5 minutes to try and reset. No changes. Warning lights/messages included: service parking brake, 4wd system unavailable, start/stop unavailable, brake warning light, abs light, and possibly others. The vehicle is currently at dealership waiting repair (estimated to begin service week of 5/22/23, Nyle Maxwell CDJR, Taylor, TX)
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V338000 (Electrical System, Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the rear liftgate would not open remotely. The failure mileage was 34,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
When driving the Jeep and within a speed between 35 and 45 mph at a steady rate, if you accelerate or decelerate, the transmission slams really hard into the next gear or downshifts hard into the next gear which leads to the snapping of your neck as if it was a whiplash affect. We have brought this vehicle in many time for several years and without a code that gets generated and recorded on the Jeeps computer of the issue. We do not know where to turn next as the dealers that had evaluate the jeep viewed and the technicians experienced the symptom that we explained, but they were not able to provide a resolution Under the warranty process without an error code. Having people in the Jeep and when it downshift or upshift the transmission slams into gear have been getting startled as if someone hit us from behind and we have had neck pains from this result. We are very concerned that if the downshifting or up shifting that slams into gear may result in a transmission failure while we are on the road and will have no control of our vehicle and could lead to a major accident as we could be stuck in the middle of a road with heavy traffic.
The vehicle lift gate gets stuck, and will not open or close properly via the button. I have to manually close it.
My alternator went out and was replaced and while in doing they said my gear shifter broke and when they tried to replace it that the new one broke too. My parking brake and check engine light are now on and they are not sure why.

Got a recall letter about an electrical shortage May 11.Called the dealer and customer care, both told me that there was nothing they can do about recall as there is no solution; however, my recall cause a serious safety issue as it can start a fire with ignition on or off. Its been almost 60 days no solution; therefore I would like to replace my vehicle as there is nothing they can do to fix it and driving it causes a safety hazard that Im not comfortable putting myself in as I suffer from ptsd from a previous car crash, and deal with anxiety daily so this problem to my vehicle is causing me emotional distress.

The recall on my vehicle has still not been remedied, nor have I received any information in regards to this recall outside of news coverage and my own checking.
Safety recall 49A/NHTSA 23V-338. Fire hazard. Do not park in garage or near other vehicles. This was issued 5/11/2023 and has not been repaired. The restrictions make the vehicle nearly unusable. Try going to Wal Mart or church and not park next to another vehicle or park somewhere and find that another vehicle parked next to you. How long is a reasonable repair time? If they can't fix the vehicle maybe they should consider a buyback.

1 - Two piece lug bolts, swollen due to poor design, causing unsafe conditions rendering OEM provided tools unusable to conduct emergency roadside tire change/repair. 2 - UCONNECT emergency vehicle connectivity not maintained by manufacturer after 3G network retired, rendering installed safety equipment inoperable.
Jeep transmission jerks, doesn't shift when its supposed to, and when I give it regular pressure gas, and I drive slow, it will not shift and then suddenly shift causing a jerk. I never can depend on the vehicle and even don't make left hand turns unless there is a traffic light because I'm afraid the Jeep won't pull out in time and I'll get hit by another car.
The Jeep Cherokee Latitude suddenly quit running on freeway with no warning. Car would not travel but coasted to a stop. She was lucky no one was close by or the car would have been plowed into from behind. This could have created a chain reaction pile up due to the busy freeway. Car is currently at a dealer and was evaluated for a faulty transmission and needs to be replaced. This was in a Jeep recall a few years ago but supposedly didn't cover my vin, S55. Now, Chrysler is leaving me to deal with their transmission problem. This is a major safety problem as mentioned in their recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the while driving at approximately 60 MPH, she heard a loud explosion sound and the vehicle slightly lifted off the ground. 4WD stopped working shortly after purchase. Light comes on and off at will.
