Cruise control would not disengage. Instead it accelerated me to 85 mph is rush hour traffic. The car continued to accelerate will out responding to any commands to turn off cruise control. Second time this has happened. It was supposed to be fixed by doing an update to the car. This did not work. The second time I attempted to use cruise control after having had the long block engine replaced due to the oil consumption law suit, the car once again had the same problem with now slowing down. I tried putting the car into neutral and pressing the break. The car was accelerating so fast. The brakes had no effect without causing me to lose control. I was forced to put the car into a ditch at 75 mph. Rather than to rear end the dead stopped 3 lanes of traffic ahead of me and being pinned in by the traffic behind me. Car flipped I now have brain damage and failing kidneys due to blood transfusions
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH with the cruise control activated, the cruise control system failed to maintain the set speed. The contact stated that the speed fluctuated up and down erratically. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,500.
Car refused to exit cruise control, again Instead it accelerated. I pressed again and again cruise control to stop it did not respond. Repeatedly And more frantic I pushed pushed the button as stopped cars grew closer. The car started to accelerate instead and refused to stop Even when pressing the brake. I was able to push the brake down enough to get to engage neutral after multiple attempts. I feared fir my life and for others due to not being in control of the vehicle that was not responding to commands. I was told that the vehicle had been serviced for this problem when it happens to me prior and the dealership refused a free update due to a tsb saying it has been corrected already and I would have to pay. The dealer didn’t even not my vehicle as I asked. I was told if I’m not paying I’m not a customer and they don’t note a account for non customers. Jeep dealer Greenwood Indiana. They also wanted to charge 400 to find out why I had water leaking in the back hatch on the drivers side and said they had no knowledge of a issue with that and would not note a non Customer acct for that either. Approximately march of 2022 definitely the year maybe later in the month of the year. It was not winter though
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, CAR STARTS TO MOVE THEN HESITATES AS IF SHIFTING TO A HIGHER GEAR, WAY TO EARLY. RPMS GO UP THEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BACK DOWN TO CORRECT GEAR, CAUSING JERKING REACTION AND THEN RUNS NORMALLY. THE ONLY GOOD THING IS THAT THIS PROBLEM COMES AND GOES. PROBLEMS STARTED AROUND 2018 WITH AROUND 15000 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH A FRIEND, HAD MY CRUISE CONTROL SET AND THE CAR STARTED SPEEDING UP, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE AND IT DIDNT SO I PRESSED CANCEL ON THE STEERING WHEEL IT JUST KEEP GOING, I KEEP TAPPING THE BREAK PEDAL, FINALLY IT JUST WENT OFF,I ASKED MY GIRLFRIEND IF SHE FELT THAT, SHE SAID YES I THOUGHT YOU WERE DOING IT, I WONDERED WHAT YOU WERE DOING..I HAD A RECALL ON MY CAR EARILER FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL AND TOOK IT IN BUT IF THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE IT WASNT FIXED PROPERLY. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID SINCE THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE ID HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR..I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE.. THERE ARE ONLY 21683 MILES ON MY CAR..
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4 X 4 OVERHEATED BURSTING 2 COOLING HEATER HOSES, DRAINED OUT ALL THE ANTIFREEZE COOLANT. MECHANIC HOPES THAT HEAD GASKET WILL BE THE ONLY DAMAGE OTHERWISE CAN RUIN THE ENGINE AND THAT WILL CAUSE A ENGINE REPLACEMENT WHICH WILL BE A VERY HIGH COST. *TR
AS I'M DRIVING, A DASH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL THE LIGHTS INDICATING WHAT GEAR I'M IN COME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK AND I'VE BEFORE ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, TWICE ON A CITY STREET (45MPH) AND ONCE ON A HIGHWAY (65MPH). EACH TIME THE CAR HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE. *TR

ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION WITH FOOT ON ACCELERATOR (TRAVELING ~10MPH). . LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. NOTICE APPEARED ON DASHBOARD ABOUT SHIFTER. TRIED TO POWER ENGINE BACK ON TO NO AVAIL. WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN.
THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED SEVEN TIMES NOW IN THE LAST MONTH. MOST RECENT WAS ON 11/14/2019. WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION) ABOUT 25 MPH IN RESIDENTIAL AREA, JEEP TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ERROR MESSAGE POPS UP ON DASHBOARD TO "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR" (SEE PHOTO). I AM ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT CAR HAS TO BE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF. IT TAKES A COUPLE OF TIRES TO RESTART THE ENGINE. UNKNOWN AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES AND TO LET THEM KNOW IF PROBLEMS CONTINUES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I COULD HAVE BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND MY DOG WITH ME AND HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 75 MPH. THERE IS A PART OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT DROPS TO 65 MPH SO I SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN TO 64 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY REVVED UP TO 5000 RPMS AND HIT 75 MPH AGAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN SURGING LATELY BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM THE WEATHER GETTING COLDER. THE CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY TO 5000 RPMS, I KNOW IS NOT JUST THE WEATHER. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG AND I HAVE ONLY MADE 1 PAYMENT ON IT ABOUT TO PAY MY 2ND ONE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AUGUST 21, 2019 SO THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ALREADY. ALSO THERE IS A RATTLING IN THE ENGINE.
THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AS IF IN THE PROCESS OF STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN, WHENEVER THE CAR WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR ACCELERATING THE STALL LIKE JERKING WOULD OCCUR AGAIN.
Sometimes when I mash the gas pedal to pull out from a stop it hesitates and doesn't move, then is sluggish when it does. This has happened often. It's dangerous.
WHEN DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIAN HAVING THE CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 70 EVERYTHING WORKS FINE UNTIL YOU COME TO A STEEP DOWN HILL GRADE. SUDDENLY I WOULD LOOK DOWN AND I WOULD BE DOING 90 MILES A HOUR AND THE ENGINE RPM IS OVER 5000. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. 3 TIMES I WOULD JUST TOUCH THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE RPM WOULD IMMEDIATELY GO DOWN TO AROUND 2000 RPM. ONE TIME I HADE TO STAND ON THE BRAKES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL THE RPM WOULD GO DOWN. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR ONE TIME. MY SON DROVE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS ON OUR WAY TO THE EAST COAST AND I DROVE THROUGH THEM ON THE WAY HOME. HE TOLD ME THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR JUST OVER 2 YEARS AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS FINE. THE ONLY TIME I HAVE PROBLEMS IS IN THE MOUNTAINS ON A DOWN HILL ROAD.
MY VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING; ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AFTER A CAR WASH, IN THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!! IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. WE HAD IT SERVICED ONCE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL GEARS ARE LIT UP AS TO SAY YOU'RE IN ALL GEARS P,R,N,D....ETC. THE CAR AT TIMES WON'T PICK UP SPEED RIGHT AWAY AND ALSO PAUSES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS.

I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER. ONCE STOPPED THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND ACCELERATION WAS RESTORED, BUT MESSAGE OCCURRED AGAIN AND POWER WAS AGAIN LOST.
THE SHIFT MODULE UNIT IS GOING BAD . IT WILL READ IN THE DISPLAY DASH SERVICE SHIFTER AND RED LIGHTS APPEAR FOR ALL GEARS PARK, N, DRIVE, REVERSE, NO AUTO
MY JEEP HAS BEEN HAVING A DISTURBING PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR MONTHS. PERIODICALLY, CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WAY ABOVE WHAT IT'S SET AT (E.G. IT'S SET AT 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY IT ACCELERATES TO 95 MPH). I HAVE TO SLAM THE BRAKES UNTIL IT DECELERATES AND RESET THE CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN I WAS SETTING UP MY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE APPOINTMENT ON THE LITHIA APP, I NOTICED A RECALL THAT WAS EXACTLY FOR THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. BUT MY JEEP WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL. I CALLED 1-800-853-1403 ON 7/24/18 AND WAS TOLD MY JEEP WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT TO ASK FOR DIAGNOSTICS TEST FOR U63. AT MY APPOINTMENT, 8/10/18, AT LITHIA SANTA FE, THE DIAGNOSTICS DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING. I HAD TO PAY $157 FOR THE TEST! I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER AGAIN AND TOLD THEM I WANT TO GO ON RECORD THAT I REPORTED THE PROBLEM AND TRIED TO HAVE IT ADDRESSED IN CASE I HAVE AN ACCIDENT RELATED TO IT. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THEY 'CLEARED THE MODULE' AND THAT MIGHT TAKE CARE OF IT. I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS AND I THINK THIS SHOULD BE REMEDIED UNDER THE RECALL. *BF *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CAR DIED WHILE IN MOTION. THE FIRST TIME, I WAS LEAVING CHURCH AND MADE A LEFT TURN. THE CAR STALLED AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND STARTED IT UP A COUPLE OF TIMES AND WAS ABLE TO GO. THE SECOND TIME (TODAY), I TURNED INTO A PARKING LOT AND IT JUST KILLED. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND MOVED ON. FORTUNATELY, BOTH TIMES, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY ADDRESS THIS. WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN THE NEXT TIME? THIS FIRST HAPPENED THE 4TH SUNDAY IN MAY OF 2018 AND THE SECOND TIME, JUNE 10, 2018.
