WHILE IN MOTION, LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER COME ON A SAY SERVICE SHIFTER. PREVIOUSLY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF.
ON OCTOBER 20, 2020, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED IN RESPONSE TO A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WARNING INDICATOR. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE 'SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS' WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND COMPLETED THE REPAIR EARLIER TODAY AT A COST OF $325.88. DESPITE HAVING PURCHASED A SUPPLEMENTAL SERVICE PROTECTION PLAN THROUGH ASC, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY CLAIM HAD BEEN DENIED AS THE 'AGREEMENT DOES NOT HAVE COVERAGE ON WIRING OR WIRING HARNESSES' AND THAT 'THE BEZEL IS CONSIDERED A BODY PART BY THE MANUFACTURER WHICH IS NOT COVERABLE.' MOST DISTURBING, BASED UPON A REVIEW OF COMPLAINTS GENERATED FOLLOWING A GOOGLE SEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT HAS AFFECTED A NUMBER OF JEEPS SINCE AT LEAST 2014. I'M AT A LOSS AS TO WHY THIS IS BEING TREATED LIKE A COSMETIC REPAIR WHEN THIS COMPONENT IS CRITICAL TO THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND HAS BEEN A RECURRENT ISSUE FOR OVER FIVE YEARS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HOW THIS ISSUE IS BEING ADDRESSED BY JEEP'BOTH IN TERMS OF COVERING THESE REPAIRS AND CORRECTING THE UNDERLYING ISSUES THAT ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING SERVICE SHIFTER COMES UP ON DASHBOARD AND ALL GEAR LIGHTS ARE LIT UP. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE ABOUT 6MONTHS INTO OWNING CAR. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S NOT A PROBLEM BUT NOW MY CAR WONT START.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WITH ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL STAYING LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE SPACE OF TWO DAYS, BUT SHUT OFF WHEN THE CAR TURNED OFF. YESTERDAY ALL THE LIGHTS STAYED ON AND THE SCREEN WOULD ONLY SHOW SERVICE SHIFTER. JUST WENT OVER 17K MILES ON MY 2017 CHEROKEE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE MECHANIC WAS A BIT NONCHALANT. " DON'T WORRY. WE SEE A LOT OF THIS. IT COULD BE A WIRE OR A FUSE OR A PIN OR I MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE THE PLASTIC AND THE GEAR SHIFTER." LEFT IT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX, PROBABLY TAKE A WEEK OR TWO TO FIX ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC. I WAS LOOKING AT THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS PAGE AND IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE NUMEROUS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. WONDERING WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.
BACKING UP MY JEEP AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE DASH AND RED LIGHTS CAME ON THE BY THE SHIFTER. I PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND RESTARTED MY JEEP. LIGHTS AND ERROR MESSAGE WENT AWAY.
AFTER STARTING CAR IN MORNING, THE SHIFTER WAS PUT INTO DRIVE. WHILE SHIFTER WAS IN DRIVE THE LIGHT BESIDE SHIFTER WAS BLINKING. THEN A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH SAYING TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL OR PARK. VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK, THEN BACK IN DRIVE AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE WAS U0001 FOR A CAN C BUS. WHEN PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE CAR WAS LAGGING AND DID NOT SEEM TO RESPOND THE SAME AS IT USUALLY WOULD. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ROOT CAUSE. THEY CLEARED THE CODE AND LET ME LEAVE.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHTS COME ON WHEN STARTING AND DRIVING
JAN. 2020 THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. NOW 4 TIMES SEPT. 2020 SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS COME ON. JULY 2020 AIR CONDITION HAD TO BR REPLACED.
RANDOM AND INCONSISTENT SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE. SOMETIMES DISAPPEARS FOR MONTHS(THOUSANDS OF MILES). HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN TOTAL. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. PURCHASED BRAND NEW. ALWAYS WHILE DRIVING. NEVER WHILE IN PARK. SHIFTER INDICATOR LIGHTS UP READ AND ERROR DISPLAYED ON DASHBOARD.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME ON IN INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ALL RED LIGHTS ON GEAR PANEL WERE LIT UP AS I WAS SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE BACKING FROM MY DRIVEWAY.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL THE SHIFTER LIGHTS LIGHT UP AND TURN RED
ON 10/7/2020 THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER TURN RED AS I WAS GETTING ONTO INTERSTATE 88 IN ILLINOIS. ON 10 /8/2020 IT CAME ON AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET. HAVE READ ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS AND CAUSING WRECKS.
EVERY TIME I START MY CAR AFTER A FEW MILES IT SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER BUT EVERYTHING IS IN SPEC. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP. BUT THERE IS NO ISSUE SHIFTING
VEHICLE WON'T START NO CLICK OR CRANK ALL LIGHTS ARE ON AND DASH READS ENGINE TOO HOT , VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN RUNNING FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS TODAY.
WHEN STARTING MY CAR THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WARNING IS DISPLAYED AND ALL RED LIGHTS COME ON FOR PNRD. THIS WILL SOMETIMES GO AWAY AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. IT MAY ALSO APPEAR WHILE ALREADY DRIVING ON CITY STREET OR FREEWAY.
2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE SERVICE SHIFTER COMES CODE COMES ON DRIVER DASH PANEL DISPLAY. BROUGHT TO DEALER WITHIN 1ST TWO WEEKS OF PURCHASE OF OF A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE WITH UNDER 20,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP INITIALLY WASN'T ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THEREFORE THE ISSUE WAS NOT ADDRESSED. WITHIN A FEW DAYS, ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND THE ERROR CODE. HOWEVER, AFTER A FEW MORE WEEKS, THE ISSUE OCCURED AGAIN AND THEN THEY WERE ABLE TO FINALLY SAY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD BE FIXED AND THAT IT WAS A SHIFTER ISSUE. NOW, MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR JUST STOPPED WITH A SHIFTER ERROR ON THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE VEHICLE AND RE-START THE VEHICLE AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS AND THE CODE IS NO LONGER THERE. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER AND GARAGED THE CAR FOR ALMOST ONE WEEK UNTIL THE APPOINTMENT. " THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I AM NOW TOLD IT IS STILL A SHIFTER ISSUE AND THAT IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I AM NOT SURE HOW THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER A POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE CAR LOST POWER WHILE WERE DRIVING. LUCKILY, WE WERE ONLY IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SHIFTER IS FAULTY AND EVEN IF PAYING OUT OF POCKET WILL NOT RECTIFY THE ISSUE. THERE ARE LOTS OF SIMILAR REPORTS FILE HERE ON THE NHTSA SITE FOR THE 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. I WOULD LIKE THIS DOCUMENTED HERE IN THE EVENT THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL OR FUTURE INCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE. RANDOMLY, FROM TIME TO TIME WHILE DRIVING, MY SHIFTER LIGHTS ALL TURN RED AND MY MESSAGE CENTER READS SERVICE SHIFTER. I PARK MY JEEP, TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE MESSAGE GOES AWAY. IT BEGAN DOING THIS WITH ONLY 29,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle started jerking with the service shifter message displayed. The contact stated that the gear shifter indicator lights were flashing. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who repaired the bezel kit shifter and the jumper wiring harness. The failure reoccurred. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,685.
SERVICE SHIFTER AT 40000 MILES AND NOW AT 54000 MILES JEEP IS SPUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING AND JEEP WILL NOT START. BATTER AND ALTERNATOR ARE GOOD.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT APPEARS AND ALL LIGHTS GO RED ON GEAR SHIFTER.
TRANSMISSION LOST POWER AND LOSS OF PROPULSION WILL NOT ENGAGE IN PARK., HAD NO WARNING, STRANDED 477 MILES FROM HOME. HAVING SOMEONE FROM COLORADO COMING TO TOW IT BACK TO COLORADO. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP BUT MINE WAS NOT ENCLUDED. STOPPED FOR GAS WENT TO TAKE OFF TO GET ON INTERSTATE AND QUIT. AND HERE WE SIT. IT HAD A RECALL IN SEPTEMBER 2017 FOR A SHIFT CONTROL MODULE PLUS TRANSMISSION UPDATE WHICH WE HAD DONE, WASN'T NO ISSUE TILL TODAY. SEEMS IT'S A PROBLEM IN JEEPS. THANK YOU.
SERVICE SHIFTIER GOING OFF WHILE ON EXPRESSWAY!
MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS 32,000 MILES ON IT AND SUDDENLY MY "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL JEEPS THAT HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $300 TO REPAIR THIS ERROR MESSAGE. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE MY COMPLAINT IS RECORDED. THIS REPAIR THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO REALLY KNOW MUCH ABOUT IS A VERY SERIOUS HIT TO MY FAMILY'S BUDGET.
'SERVICE SHIFTER' NOTIFICATION AFTER STARTING CAR, STAYED ON DURING ENTIRE DRIVE UNTIL CAR WAS POWERED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN WHEN THE NOTIFICATION DISAPPEARED. WHILE NOTIFICATION WAS ON DASHBOARD, ALL RED LIGHTS (INDICATING PARK, NEUTRAL, REVERSE, DRIVE) WERE LIT UP RED ON SHIFTER. NOTIFICATION APPEARED INITIALLY WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND DID NOT DISAPPEAR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DRIVE (0-70MPH) UNTIL VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF.
SERVICE SHIFTER KEEPS POPPING ON MY DASHBOARD. CAR CAN BE TURNED OFF, KEY REMOVED FROM IGNITION, THEN WHEN STARTED AGAIN THE MESSAGE WILL GO AWAY. MESSAGE WILL REAPPEAR AFTER ABOUT 100 MILES OF DRIVING. MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN!
THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE HAS BEEN COMING ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER COME ON AS WELL. THE PAST 10 DAYS THE CAR HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN (NO POWER) WHILE DRIVING. THEN WHEN I TRY TO RESTART IT HAS TAKEN A BIT BEFORE IT WILL START. I HAVE HAD TO TURN HAZARD LIGHTS ON IN MIDDLE OF ROAD WHERE I AM STOPPED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 10 DAYS. DRY WEATHER, GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 40 MPH. NO RECALL BUT I SEE MANY OF THESE SAME ISSUES ONLINE IN BLOGS.
I'VE NEEDED TO ADD A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT APPROXIMATELY 3200 MILES AND WAS PUT ON AN "OIL CONSUMPTION MONITORING PROGRAM" WHERE I RETURNED THE CAR EVERY 1000 MILES FOR MEASURING THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS WAS DONE EVERY 1000 MILES AND THE CAR NOW HAS 15,700 MILES. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TIME BEFORE LAST, I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT ANOTHER 1000 MILES, RETURN AND IF OIL MUST BE ADDED, CHRYSLER WILL "REPLACE THE ENGINE." WHEN I SCHEDULED MY LAST CONSUMPTION CHECK, I WAS TOLD CHRYSLER NOW UPPED THE CHECKING INTERVAL TO 1500 MILES. I THEREFOR DROVE THE CAR ANOTHER 500 MILES AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON 9/21/2020 WHERE THE THE CAR WAS CHECKED IN. AFTER THE CAR WAS CHECKED, THE SERVICE CHECK IN GUY TOLD ME THEY ADDED ANOTHER QUART, AND THAT I NEEDED TO PUT YET ANOTHER "1500 TO 1700" MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THEN RETURN FOR ANOTHER FINAL CHECK, AND IF OIL WAS NEEDED, THEY WOULD (ONCE AGAIN) REPLACE THE ENGINE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE SERVICE PERSONAL, THAT IF THE ENGINE OIL QUANTITY DROPS TO TWO QUARTS BELOW FULL, THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF, AND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TODAY(SEPT 19,2020), THE CAR BEEPED GIVING ME A WARNING ON THE SCREEN TO SERVICE SHIFTER, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE CONSOLE LIT UP RED. I PULLED THE CAR OVER, SHUT.IT OFF FOR 30 MIN. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE WARNING WENT OFF SO FAR BUT HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT AGAIN YET.

WHEN I START MY CAR THE DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD SHOWS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL THE GEAR NAME LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP RED. THE NOTIFICATION ON THE DISPLAY WILL NOT GO AWAY AND THE LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENS IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED ON AND SOMETIMES WILL HAPPEN RANDOMLY WHOLE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. OFTEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AS I AM IN THE PROCESS OF BRAKING TO PARK AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, BUT MOST OFTEN AT LOWER LEVEL SPEEDS IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS.
SERVICE SHIFTER POPS UP WHEN STARTING VEHICLE
ALL OF A SUDDEN "SERVICE SHIFTER" COME ON SCREEN WITH THE SHIFTER LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED RED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS MORNING THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WIRES IN THE GEARSHIFT AND A PLASTIC PIECE HAVE TO BE REPLACED. BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED AT 38,103 MILES IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY ANYMORE, HAD IT HAPPENED UNDER 36,000 MILES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED
SHIFTER SERVICE WARNING LIGHTS, JEEP DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS. MESSAGES ALL OVER INTERNET WITH SAME PROBLEM.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. DEALER ADVISED TO LOOK ON INTERNET AND SEE THE CRASHES CAUSED BY NOT FIXING IT. HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION AND WHEN SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO AND OUT OF GEAR.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON & ALL LIGHTS IN GEAR SELECT COME ON. THIS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I CAN ONLY FIND INVOICES FOR TWO TIMES. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FROM NEW. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WAS DISPLAYED ON THE MAIN DRIVER DISPLAY, AND ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER BEZEL LIT UP. AFTER MONTHS WAITING FOR PARTS, THE DEALERSHIP EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE SHIFTER WHICH CURED IT. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AROUND 2 YEARS LATER, AND AGAIN THE BEZEL WAS REPLACED. IT'S NOW HAPPENED A THIRD TIME, IN SEPT OF 2020. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ORDERED THE PARTS AGAIN. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE PARTS, 5 MONTHS LATER. IT SEEMS THOUSANDS OF JEEP OWNERS HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS SAME PROBLEM, YOU CAN SEARCH ON GOOGLE FOR 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND SEE MANY STORIES AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, WHICH LARGELY, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY SEEMS TO AFFECT JEEP CHEROKEES. MANY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENING AGAIN AND AGAIN. SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S A PROBLEM WITH FUSES BECOMING LOOSE, OTHERS HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S A WIRING ISSUE. WHILE JEEP AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE TOLD ME VERBALLY THE CAR IS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE, IT DOES DISABLE CERTAIN THINGS, AND I DISPUTE THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. FOR EXAMPLE, MANUAL GEAR SHIFTING IS DISABLED WHEN 'SERVICE SHIFTER' IS DISPLAYED. THAT MEANS YOU CANNOT SELECT THE GEAR YOU WANT MANUALLY, THAT IS BENEFICIAL IN SITUATIONS LIKE GOING DOWN A HILL OR WHILE OFF-ROADING. SECONDLY, 'SERVICE SHIFTER' IS DISPLAYED PERMANENTLY ON THE DRIVER'S DISPLAY. IT CANNOT BE CLEARED FROM THE DISPLAY. THAT MEANS THAT CERTAIN FEATURES CANNOT BE ACCESSED AT ALL. THIS INCLUDES: TIRE PRESSURE COOLANT TEMPERATURE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE OIL TEMPERATURE OIL LIFE (AND ABILITY TO RESET IT AFTER AN OIL CHANGE) BATTERY VOLTAGE FUEL ECONOMY INFO TRIP INFO SCREEN SETUP (CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS)
I'VE HAD THE SERVICE SHIFTER COME UP ON MY DASHBOARD, 2 TIMES THIS YEAR. 1ST HAPPENED IN JANUARY 2020, AND ON SEPTEMBER 9,2020. AND THEN THE SHIFTER LIGHTS UP RED ON EVERY GEAR. THE 1ST TIME THIS WENT OFF, I WAS LEAVING WORK AND JUST STARTED MY VEHICLE. THE 2ND TIME ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 IT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF PEOPLE VEHICLES IN ACCIDENTS, AFTER THIS HAPPENED. THEY STATE THAT THE VEHICLE GOES INTO PARK ALL BY ITSELF. THOSE SCARES ME TO DEATH, THIS VEHICLE NEEDS RECALLED!
SEVERAL TIMES NOW WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING COMES ON ON THE DASH AND ALL OF THE RED LIGHTS FOR THE PARK REVERSE NEUTRAL AND DRIVE ALL COME ON ON THE SHIFT COLUMN. AFTER PULLING OVER AND SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON EVERYTHING RESETS ONLY TO DO IT AGAIN RANDOMLY FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD .
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TWO WEEKS AGO FROM A CERTIFIED USED CAR DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAS 54000 MILES ON IT. FROM DAY ONE, IT HAS HAD AN INTERMEDIATE LONG START. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. REPLACED THE BATTERY, DID NOT FIX THE LONG START. NEW PROBLEM OCCURRED YESTERDAY (2 DAYS AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY), THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING!!!! LUCKILY THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND DID NOT REAR-END ME. NO WARNING, JUST STOPPED. THE DASH FLASHED "SHIFT TO DRIVE". I WAS ALREADY IN GEAR. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS OF TRYING TO START THE CAR, THE CAR STARTED BACK. IT TOOK AN ADDITIONAL 10-15 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO ACTUALLY MOVE EVEN THOUGH I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. THE OIL WAS CHANGED 1000 MILES AGO. NO STORED CODES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO WARNING BEFORE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED....NOTHING!!! I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS AND READ MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH NO RESULT BEING FOUND. THE CAR GOES TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY BUT I WAS TOLD IF THE CAR IS NOT THROWING ANY FAULTS, IT IS GOING TO BE HARD TO DIAGNOSE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AS IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A WRECK.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AT RANDOM TIMES. WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN TURNING ON THE VEHICLE.
I GOT INTO MY CAR, BUCKLED UP, TURNED THE CAR ON, PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE PRESSED THE GAS, STARTED MOVING & ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WAS LIKE I HIT A BRICK WALL, THE CAR STOPPED RIGHT IN ITS TRACKS. MY DASH LITE UP WITH THE WORDS SERVICE SHIFTER. ***THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL REMAINED ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, SEVERAL OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFTER WERE CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED IN RED. WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, THE WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
MY CAR WILL READ 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON FOR ALL THE DIFFERENT GEARS. SOMEONE I KNOW HAS THE SAME MAKE/MODEL/AND YEAR OF MY CAR AND THERE CAR DID THIS AND THEN WHEN SHE WAS GOING 70MPH HER CAR SLAMMED BY IT'S SELF INTO PARK AT NO WARNING. THIS TERRIFIES ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I AM GETTING THE SAME 'SERVICE SHIFTER' NOTIFICATION. SHE ENDED OF WRECKING THE CAR AND ALMOST HITTING A SEMI ON THE HIGHWAY, I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ME.
2017 JEEP CHEROKEE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WARNING LIGHT APPEARED WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION APPROX (50 MPH). ALL GEARS LIT UP WITH A RED LIGHT. IT STARTLED ME SO I PULLED OVER TO LOOK IT UP & SEE IF I'M IN IMMEDIATE DANGER
WHILE DRIVING DOWN D RTHE HIGHWAY MY JEEP SHUT OFF MID MOTION, MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A 4 WAY. WE COSTED TO SIDE OF ROAD I CRANKED IT 5-6 TIMES THEN IT STARTED . WHEN MY CHEROKEE STOPED THE DASH READ SHIFT TO PARK THEN SELECT A GEAR. THE NEXT TIME IT DIED AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I WAS RUNNING 55 MPH, THE OIL LIGHT FLICKERED FOR A SPLIT SECOND AND THE CAR DIED. THE CAR LOT I BOUGHT FROM SAID THEY FOUND NO ISSUE THIS IS AN ISSUE IT IS GOING TO GET ME OR MY KIDS HURT. I HAVE NO WARNING WHEN IT WILL SHUT DOWN. THE ONLY LIGHTS THAT COME ON IS THE SHIFT INTO PARK PRESS BRAKE SELECT GEAR. IT IS TERRIFYING I USE THIS JEEP CHEROKEE TO TRANSPORT MY KIDS. IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY.

SERVICE SHIFTER WORDS APPEARED ON SCREEN NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE.WHEN CAR MOVING
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT MESSAGE ON DASH. ALL LIGHTS ON PRND LIGHT UP. HAPPENS VERY OFTEN
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP A WARNING POPPED ON THE DASH STATING TO SERVICE SHIFTER. MY CAR DECIDED TO HAVE THE BRAKES LOCK UP AND DASH SHOWED CAR WAS IN PARK WHILE THE SHIFTER CLEARLY SHOWED IT WAS IN DRIVE. THANK GOD I WAS NOT GOING MORE THAN 15MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED AS WE HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE. MY 5 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. WE OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT!
