SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY WHEN I AM DRIVING- THIS LIGHTS UP ALL SHIFTER GEARS. DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP CHEROKEE'S AND THE ISSUE IS THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS. *TR
SHIFTER ERROR THEN TURNS OFF RANDOMLY. ESPECIALLY ON TURNS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NYLE MAXWELL SUPERCENTER (13401 N. FM 620, AUSTIN, TX 78717) TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
SHIFTER SERVICE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING CAR HAD NO HEAT INTERMITTENT SINCE 2018 FOR UP TO 3 TIMES. NOW IS APRIL 2020!! WINDOWS FOG UP CAUSING HAZARDOUS CONDITION WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY! HAD CAR CHECKED AT DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM IT IS FUNCTIONING FINE FOR LAST 2 SERVICES UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER NOW WE ARE 4000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALERSHIP IN NAPERVILLE ILLINOIS WONT FIX IT FOR FREE EVEN THOUGH ITS AN ON GOING ISSUE!!!
WAS DRIVING AND IN MOTION WHEN I HEARD A DING AND THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" ALERT CAME ON, AND ALL OF THE GEARS HAD THE RED LIGHT ON. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 9 MONTHS AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE BEFORE. IT IS NOT DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE OR ANY OTHER MAINTENANCE SERVICE. IT IS AT 47,000 MILES AND WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THIS HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY BUT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER AND SHIFTER HARNESS. I AM VERY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED WITH JEEP THAT THIS IS A LIFE-THREATENING ISSUE, AND IT HAPPENS "FREQUENTLY." PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS THIS IS NOT FAIR TO OWNERS WHO ARE NOW AT RISK WHEN TRAVELING.
SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARED WHILE DRIVING WITHIN CITY AND ILLUMINATED GEAR SHIFT COLUMN IN RED. PULLED OVER TO PARK AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE. RESTARTED AND SERVICE SHIFTER DID NOT REMAIN.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT IS COMING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ALL THE LIGHTS NEAR THE SHIFTER ARE LIT UP. ALSO THE VEHICLE JUMPS INTO GEAR.
WHEN DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING "SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD AND ALL THE LIGHTS TO THE LEFT OF THE SHIFTER WERE RED.
WHEN I START MY CAR, SERVICE SHIFTER COMES ON AND ALL MY LIGHTS ON THE PANEL. I HAVE TO TURN MY CAR OFF, OPEN MY DOOR TO RESET. IT TAKES A FEW TRIES FOR THE CAR TO RESET. ALSO, MY CAR BUMPS FORWARD WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. I HAVE TAKEN THIS IN SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP BY THIS NEVER FIXES THE ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN DECEMBER OF 2016. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT MY CAR JUST DIES WHILE I AM DRIVING. BATTERY IS FINE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL DOWN, THE CAR WILL START AGAIN AFTER RESTING FOR 10MINUTES. DEALERSHIP ALWAYS SAYS ITS THE OIL, BUT I HAVE 2 MONTHS STILL TO GO FOR OIL CHANGE AND OVER 2,000 MILES TIL MY NEXT CHANGE. OIL LIFE IS OVER 50%. EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN FOR THIS IT WORKS FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN THE ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN.
*SERVICE SHIFTER* *IN MOTION* *STALLED* THE FOLLOWING IS THE SAME ISSUE I HAD WITH MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. I HAD TRADED THAT VEHICLE IN FOR A NEWER 2017 MODEL BECAUSE OF THIS... I HAVE A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. OCCASIONALLY WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND SAY "SERVICE SHIFTER, PLACE CAR IN P OR N" - I CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. RESTART IT AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. WHEN I TRY TO RESTART, THE ENGINE HAS A TOUGH TIME KICKING BACK ON.THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS RECURRENCE AND MUST BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS THE SECOND REPORT I HAVE MADE. THE FIRST REPORT WAS WITH MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. *TR
STARTED MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE, LIKE ANY OTHER DAY, DROVE 30 SECONDS DOWN THE ROAD AND I THOUGHT MY BATTERY WAS GOING DEAD. CAR SHUT DOWN RADIO AND LIGHTS WERE STILL WORKING FINE. WASN'T BATTERY, IT WAS MY SHIFTER, I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF IN AN ATTEMPT TO REST WHATEVER THE PROBLEM WAS. MY JEEP STARTED BACK, I THEN TURN AROUND AND GO BACK HOME. '30 SECONDS LATER IN MY DRIVEWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN'. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER. I HAD MY SHIFTER REPLACED LAST YEAR YET IT'S STILL CAUSING ME PROBLEMS.
SERVICE SHIFTIER MESSAGE APPEARS ON DISPLAY ABOUT EVERY 50 MILES. DISAPPEARS WHEN ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. HAD REPAIRED AT JEEP DEALER. PROBLEM HAS REAPPEARED AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY GEAR SHIFT TURNED RED AND THE CAR SEEMED TO HAVE STOPPED RUNNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. A FEW MINUTES LATER I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE AND ALL KINDS OF LIGHTS CAME UP ON MY PANEL AS WELL AS THE GEAR SHIFT. NOW I HAVE A CONSTANT MESSAGE TO SERVICE SHIFTER. I GOOGLED IT AND LOW AND BEHOLD THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, FROM 2015 - 2018. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL? MY FAMILY WAS NOT SAFE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING WHILE DRIVING
I WAS DRIVING MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE AND I RECEIVE AN ALERT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT SAID SERVICE SHIFTER AND THE LIGHTS ON PRND WERE LIGHT UP AND NOT BLINKING. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IT SHUT DOWN. I WAS ACTUALLY ON A CITY STREET TWICE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I ALSO RECEIVE ANOTHER ALERT TELLING ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK BEFORE SHIFTING GEARS. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 10 MINS BEFORE I STARTED MY CAR UP AND PRESS THE GAS AT THE SAME TIME TO GET THE JEEP TO START.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. FOUND OUT COULD BE GAS CAP OR BAD FUEL. FILLED UP WHEN CLOSE TO EMPTY. ENGINE LIGHT DISAPPEARED. WAS FINE FOR MONTH OR SO. NOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY. CHECKED W AUTO PARTS STORE. COMPUTER READER SAID COULD BE THERMOSTAT. ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. NOW HAS 40K MILES. START W ENGINE PROBLEMS ALREADY?
SHIFTER SERVICE WARNING ON DASH. UPON START UP THE DASH MESSAGE CENTER OCCASIONALLY SHOWS "SHIFTER SERVICE" AND ALL OF THE SELECTOR LIGHTS ON THE CONSOLE ARE LIT. YOU CANNOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. YOU MUST STOP THE ENGINE AND RESTART IN ORDER TO PROCEED. THIS OCCURS ON START UP AND OCCASIONALLY ONLY.
STARTED JEEP AND SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING CAME ON. THE IDIOT STAYS ON. THERE IS ALSO A WARNING IN DRIVER INFORMATION DASHBOARD THAT AIR BAG NEEDS SERVICED. EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE NORMAL.
'SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING REQUIRES REPLACEMENT ACCORDING TO EIDE CHRYSLER SERVICE TECHS 'SHIFT MODULE NOT FUNCTIONING ' REPLACED BY EIDE CHRYSLER TWICE 'VEHICLE RANDOMLY SWAPS BETWEEN R/N/D WHILE DRIVING 'VEHICLE HAS DIFFICULT TIME STARTING 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ' CODE P0128 ' COOLANT TEMPERATURE BELOW THERMOSTAT REGULATING TEMPERATURE OCAUSED VEHICLE TO ENTER 'LIMP MODE' ON THE INTERSTATE, REQUIRING A TOW TRUCK 'VEHICLE CANNOT ACHIEVE MORE THAN 8MPG IN ANY MODE 'SERVICE AIRBAGS / AIRBAG MALFUNCTION RANDOMLY POPS UP ON DASH INFORMATION CENTER 'VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN 'REVERSE' AND THE TRANSMISSION DROVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT ' VEHICLE TOWED TO EIDE CHRYSLER 3/15/2020 THESE ISSUES KEEP COMING UP AND "ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY". WHEN WILL CHRYSLER RECOGNIZE THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND RECALL?
I GET A NOTICE OF 'SERVICE SHIFTER' SPORADICALLY. I'M HIGHLY CONCERNED THIS HASN'T BEEN A RECALL CONSIDERING THE ACCIDENT I JUST HEARD ABOUT AND I'VE ALMOST EXPERIENCED. I WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF GEAR WHEN THIS MESSAGE CAME ON. IT'S HAPPENED WHILE IN DRIVE, REVERSE, AND PARK.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" HAS POPPED UP NUMEROUS TIMES WITH ALL GEARS LIT UP ( PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE AND MANUAL) . THE FIRST TIME, IT POPPED UP AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN DRIVE. THE 2ND TIME, IT POPPED UP WHILE IN DRIVE GOING LESS THAN 45MPH THROUGH TOWN. THE NEXT TIME, ( MARCH 9, 2020) IT POPPED UP WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70MPH, 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN 45 MINUTES. THE DEALER STATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS, SO HOW DO I GET IT FIXED, UNLESS THERE'S A RECALL? THIS HAS TO BE A DRIVETRAIN ISSUE AS IT AFFECTS THE GEAR SHIFTER?
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD GO INTO LIMP MODE AND SHUT ITSELF DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED DURING 3 DIFFERENT PERIODS TIME NEAR THE OIL CHANGE INTERVAL, OCCURRING 3+ OR MORE TIMES DURING EACH PERIOD. AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WITH THE 3RD OCCURRENCE, THEY CHECKED THE OIL PRIOR TO CHANGING IT NOTING THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE PAN. AFTER PERFORMING A FUEL CONSUMPTION TEST, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE ENGINE BETWEEN 6,000 AND 7,000 MILES (OIL CHANGE TIME) LOST OVER 1.25 QUARTS OF OIL. BETWEEN 0 AND 6,000 MILES, MINIMAL TO NO OIL WAS LOST, BUT BETWEEN 6,000-7,000 THE OIL WOULD DROP SIGNIFICANTLY WITH NO OBVIOUS REASON WHY. THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED THEY HAVE HAD OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH A SIMILAR ISSUE. IF IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, THEN JEEP WOULD LIKELY REPLACE THE ENGINE, BUT SINCE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY (EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES), I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE ENGINE OR TEAR DOWN TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.
ENGINE KEEPS SHUTTING DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON STREET OR HIGHWAY. 5 TIMES SINCE 9/19. DEALER REPLACED ENGINE AND PROBLEM CONTINUES
DRIVING 2017 JEEP WITH ONLY 40,000 MILES DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY.. BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND JEEP STALLED ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT. WENT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR, WAS TOLD IT NEEDED AND OIL CHANGE?!! UNACCEPTABLE!! IF ISSUE ISN'T CORRECTED, LEGAL ACTION WILL BE PURSUED.
My service shifter light stays on almost all the time. The gears PRND are all red lights.
THE ISSUE STARTED WHILE I WAS TRAVELING DOING 60 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY I HAD ZERO ACCELERATION. IT WAS AS THOUGH I WAS IN NEUTRAL . I STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK THEN BACK INTO DRIVE. STILL NO RESPONSE . I ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACK IN NEUTRAL THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE . IT ENGAGED INTO DRIVE BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT TIME . I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO JEEP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" . ONLY IT'S NOT FIXED . THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DISENGAGE WHEN SLOWING DOWN .
MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS CAME UP 3 SEPARATE TIMES. THE LAST TIME IT CAME ON, MY JEEP TOOK ITSELF FROM DRIVE TO PARK WHILE I WAS IN MOTION, LOCKING UP MY TIRES AND STEERING WHEEL. I COULD NOT GET MY PARK BACK INTO DRIVE, AND IT CAUSED ME TO SLIDE OFF THE ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I HAVE ALSO HAD MY BLUETOOTH AND MY RADIO MALFUNCTIONING. IT CHANGES STATIONS AND VOLUME BY ITSELF, SWITCHES BETWEEN AM AND FM AND CHANGES VOLUME RANDOMLY. MY U CONNECT BLUETOOTH STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY.*DT*TP CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND THE TIRES HAD LOCKED UP. INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN FRIDAY MARCH 13TH. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SHIFTER WARNING WOULD COME ON. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD COME ON IN RED AND I WOULD HAVE TO STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF TO GET THEM TO RESET. THIS IS ON MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED.
THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY WHILE DRIVING. I WILL BE DRIVING (NO CERTAIN SPEED) BUT I WILL HEAR A "DING" & I LOOK AT MY SCREEN & IT SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL MY LIGHTS LIGHT UP ON MY GEAR SHIFTER. MY JEEP TENDS TO HAVE HARD SHIFTING ONCE THIS OCCURS. I THEN HAVE TO STOP, TURN MY CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. (THE PICTURES I'M ATTACHING ARE FROM LAST WEEK. HOWEVER, THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AWHILE)
THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT WAS ON. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CHEROKEE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN.
I WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR TRANSMISSION JUST STOPPED GOING. IT ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE. THE CHECK ENGINE, SERVICE TRANSMISSION,SERVICE PARKING BRAKE, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ALL LIT UP ON THE CAR. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL JEEP CHEROKEES MANUFACTURED IN 2015, 2016 (MAY ALSO INCLUDE MY 2017) HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT TOOK THEM FOREVER TO FIGURE IT OUT. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M INCURRING RENTAL CAR FEES AND HAVE ZERO IDEA OF WHAT IT WILL COST TO FIX. JEEP SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE NOT THAT OF THE OWNER. THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO SAME THING EXCEPT THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP MOVING IT JUST TOOK FOREVER TO GET OUT OF FIRST/SECOND GEAR.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE CONSTANTLY POPS UP.
HEATED STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T STAY ON EVEN BELOW 40 DEGREES. ON HAS TO TURN IT ON AND OFF IN ORDER TO WORK. WITHIN THREE MINUTES THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL TURNS COLD. TOOK JEEP CHEROKEE TO 2 DEALERSHIP ONE REPLACE THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK PROPERTY IS STILL TURNS OFF WITHIN 3 MINUTES AND IT GETS COLD. SOFTWARE UPDATE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. IT MIGHT BE ELECTRICAL/WIRING PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON HEATED STEERING WHEEL AT JEEP FORUMS AND CARGURU WEBSITE. I WAS LOOKING FOR ANSWERS HOW TO FIX IT.
DEVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR DIES AND WILL NOT RESTART. WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT.
VEHICLE BOUGHT DEC/2019. 2 MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON, PULLED VEHICLE OVER AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP NO LIGHT. MARCH 2020, DRIVING IN TOWN VEHICLE DECELERATED AND TOLD TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK, ALL LIGHTS CAME ON AND SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARED AGAIN. VEHICLE STARTED AFTER A LITTLE BIT AND SINCE I WAS VERY CLOSE TO HOME I PARKED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. CALLED A CERTIFIED DEALER TO DISCUSS ISSUE. REPLACED SHIFT BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS. DIDN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE. COULDN'T SIMULATE MY ISSUE AT THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTIC. WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN MAY NEED AN ENTIRE SHIFTER ($1000+). HOW IS SOMETHING SO SERIOUS, THAT CAN APPLY YOUR EMERGENCY BRAKE WHILE AT DRIVING SPEED, OR DECELERATE YOU WHEN IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION NOT BE RECALLED? HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED? THIS IS NOT RIGHT. *TR

THE CAR STARTED OFF BY PROBLEMS WITH THE CHIP TO COMPUTE THAT IT NEEDED TO OPEN THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL VALVE. SO WITH THAT CAME THE INABILITY FOR ME TO START THE CAR BY BEING OUTSIDE OF IT AND ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. THEN OUR GEARS WOULD LIGHT UP AS IF THE CAR WAS IN EVER POSITION POSSIBLE. WE WOULD PARK CUT THE CAR OFF AND RESUME TO DRIVE. THIS PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR A WEEK OR SO WENT AWAY AND EVENTUALLY CAME BACK. NOW THE ENGINE FEELS AS IF IT'S GIVING OUT IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE WELL, I KNOW IT'S A V4 BUT IT SHOULD HAVE MAINTAINED THE GET UP THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED WITH FREQUENT OIL CHANGES WITH THE BEST OIL. CAR IS NEVER DRIVEN ON E OR ANYTHING I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE CAR IS FAILING THIS EARLY. I HEARD JEEP'S HAVE BEEN VERY DEPENDABLE CARS.
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WARNING POPS UP AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER TURN RED. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHILE I AM DRIVING AND SCARES ME. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO SEE ANY OTHER SCREEN WHILE ON. I HAVE HEARD THAT IT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO NOT GO INTO PARK... I HAVE READ 100'S OF OTHER S HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2014-2018 MODELS. THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ONCE IN REVERSE BACKING OUT THE DRIVEWAY, AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70+ MPH. I STOPPED THE CAR BOTH TIMES, SHIFT IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THE WARNING AND LIGHTS WENT OFF. BUT WHAT IF I CAN NOT PUT IT IN PARK NEXT TIME. WHAT HAPPENS THEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED 6 TIMES WITHIN TEN DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEBANON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (518 W MAIN ST, LEBANON, OH 45038) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR 2000 MILES AND TO THEN HAVE THE VEHICLE TESTED FOR OIL CONSUMPTION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT DEPENDING ON THE RESULT, THE MANUFACTURER MAY CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FREE OF CHARGE. THE OIL WAS TOPPED OF HOWEVER, NO ADDITIONAL MECHANICAL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,732.

MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 6 TIMES IN A WEEK AND A HALF. ITS ALWAYS WITHIN A FEW BLOCKS OF START UP. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS, THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT BACK UP. ALL 6 TIMES IT HAS BEEN WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 25 MILES AND HOUR AND HAS OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. TOO SCARED TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE WITH AN ISSUE WITH THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT COMING ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER WERE LIGHTING UP AND CAUSING THE CAR TO SHUT DOWN. AT THAT TIME, THEY SAID IT WAS THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND THEY REPLACED IT. NOW WE ARE NOT GETTING A WARNING LIGHT AT ALL BEFORE THE CAR DIES. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM ACTUALLY SCARED TO DRIVE MY JEEP THAT I HAVE HAD FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS. WHEN TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ARE SAYING THEY HAVE HAD NO REPORTED ISSUES WITH THIS BEFORE. WE WILL FIND OUT TODAY WHAT THEY SAY AND I WILL REPOST. OVER THE PAST 3 WEEKS THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, 2 OF WHICH HAVE OCCURRED IN THE PAST 2 DAYS AND 66 MILES APART. I'VE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE NOTIFICATIONS FROM THE 2 MOST RECENT OCCURRENCES, ALONG WITH A PHOTO OF THE ILLUMINATED GEAR INDICATORS. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE WITH HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ACROSS VARIOUS JEEP FORUMS.

THE CAR'S CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED WHILE CLIMBING A SLIGHT HILL ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR FAILED TO STOP ACCELERATING AT 60 MPH (SET SPEED LIMIT). THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON NOR PRESSING THE BRAKES WOULD DISENGAGE THE SYSTEM. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS, THE CAR ACCELERATED TO 75 MPH AND FINALLY DISENGAGED. THIS WAS DURING THE NIGHT, WITH MODERATE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY 16 NEAR PORT ORCHARD, WA. THE DEALER (WEST HILLS CHRYSLER, BREMERTON WA) CANNOT FIND AN ERROR CODE AND REFUSES TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I DEEM THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHILE USING THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM.
I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2020, IN THAT SAME YEAR I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER BECAUSE "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT KEPT COMING UP. IT WOULD COME UP IN MOMENTS WHERE I WOULD BRAKE OR GAS AND THE CAR SKIPPED BEFORE COMPLETING THE TASK. I ENDED SPENDING $600 FOR THE 'REPAIRMENTS" FOR IT TO NOT GET FIXED. I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THE DEALER SAID IT WAS FINE. ITS 2025 NOW AND IM STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH IT AND IT ONLY GOT WORSE. ITS MORE OF A ROUGHER SKIP WHILE BRAKING AND GASING, IT ALSO DOES IT UNEXPECTEDLY AND I GET WORRY THAT IT MIGHT CAUSED A CRASHED AT SOME POINT. IT HAS ALSO AFFECTED THE INITAL ACCELERATION OF THE CAR BECAUSE I HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS ALL THE WAY FOR IT TO GAIN MOMENTUM
