TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE GEAR SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART VEHICLE. SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IT SEEMED AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF FUEL EVEN THOUGH THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GRIFFIN MOTORS COMPANY 11031 PERRY HWY, MEADVILLE, PA 16335 (814) 336-2161, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING HAS COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT RANDOM SPEEDS AND DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT IS NOW HAPPENING EVERY TIME THE JEEP IS DRIVEN, SOMETIMES BEFORE WE EVEN GET TO THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY.
2017 JEEP CHEROKEE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT STARTED COMING ON RANDOMLY AT 28,000 MILES. USUALLY TURNING OFF THE CAR AND CRANKING IT BACK UP WOULD MAKE THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT GO AWAY. NOW AFTER ONLY OWNING THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS IT IS STARTING TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT STAYS ON MOST OF THE TIME. SOMETIMES DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SHIFTER LIGHT WILL POP ON OUT OF NOWHERE. IN THE TWO YEARS I'VE OWNED IT I'VE ONLY PUT 20,000 MILES ON IT. LEFT THE DEALERSHIP TODAY TO FIND OUT THIS PART IS NOT COVERED IN THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I'VE GOTTEN ONE QUOTE FOR $800 TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS. THIS IS A 2017 WITH ONLY 40,000 MILES. ALL OVER THE INTERNET JEEP OWNERS TELL OF AN IDENTICAL STORY WITH THEIR JEEPS. JEEP NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS BEING A FAULTY PART. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND THIS MUCH MONEY TO FIX A FAULTY PART. WILL NEVER BUY A JEEP AGAIN
WHILE DRIVING I GOT A 'SERVICE SHIFTER ' MESSAGE AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER WERE LIT UP. I PULLED OVER TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT WENT AWAY. IT HAPPEND AGAIN AFTER MY OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT GOES AWAY AFTER I RESTART THE CAR BUT SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T THINK SO. NO MESSAGE OR LIGHTS AFTER I RESTART BUT IT HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE.
DEFECTIVE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT STRUT BEGAN KNOCKING ON UNPAVED ROADS AT 14,000 MILES ON 1 YEAR OLD JEEP CHEROKEE. DEALER VERIFIED DEFECTIVE STRUT AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW AT 31,000 MILES PASSENGER SIDE FRONT STRUT HAS SEVERE KNOCKING EVEN ON SMALL BUMPS IN ROAD AND VEHICLE FRONT END SHUDDERS UPON BRAKING. APPARENTLY, THIS OTHER SIDE STRUT IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. WORKING WITH JEEP TO VERIFY DEFECTIVE STRUT AND HAVE REPLACED. UPON RESEARCH, HAVE SEEN OWNER COMMENTS ABOUT MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN FRONT STRUTS OF SEVERAL JEEP VEHICLES. *TR
"SERVICE SHIFTER" ERROR SHOWED UP ON DISPLAY WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY. DISPLAY WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND COULDN'T CLEAR ERROR. ALL OF THE SHIFTER LIGHTS TURNED ON. HAD TO TURN ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET.
MY JEEP CONTINUES TO SAY TO CHECK THE AIRBAG.. IF SOMEONE IS SITTING THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH SEAT BELT LOCKED, IT CONTINUES TO BEEP AND SHOW THAT THE SEATBELT IS NOT BUCKLED

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY DRIVELINE IN THE TRANSMISSION. BOB JOHNSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (18476 US-11, WATERTOWN, NY 13601) WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE CONTACT DECLINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT YET NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY - I STARTED VEHICLE THIS MORNING AND THE SHIFTER WAS LIT UP IN RED LIGHTS; SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME. I TURNED CAR ON/OFF AND THE LIGHTS WERE STILL ALL RED, THEN THE DASH LIT UP WITH "SERVICE SHIFTER". LOOKING ONLINE AT CARGURUS.COM, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND JEEP HAS NOT FIXED IT ALOT OF DEALERS DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS! HELP
GEAR SHIFTER REQUIRES SERVICE AS WELL AS 4WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE REQUIRES SERVICE. BOTH DUMMY LIGHTS CAME ON AND CONTINUE TO POP UP. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS ALOT OF PPL ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE A RECALL NEEDS TO BE APPLIED FOR THESE ISSUES! DUMMY LIGHTS ARE POPPING UP WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS HIGHWAYS
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ARE ALL RED,P,R,N,D DURING MOTOR OPERATIONS TURNING/PULLING INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD. APPROX. SPEED WAS LESS THAN 20 MPH. UPON SHIFTING TO PARK AND TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON THE ERROR MESSAGE DISAPPEARS AND SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE NO LONGER RED. HAS HAPPENED THREE (3) WEEKS IN A ROW ON WED, WED, AND TUES AT APPROX. 5:45 PM. SERVICE APPOINT SCHEDULED TOMORROW 02/19/20 WITH THE MANUFACTURER. APPROX. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE WHEN ERROR FIRST OCCURRED WAS 43K. WAS TOLD THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY MAY NOT COVER THE ISSUE. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS EXPRESSING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, PARTICULARLY AFTER 36K MILES.
WHILE MAKING A LEFT HANG TURN ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC MY JEEP STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE BATTERY LIGHT ON THE DASH LIGHT UP AND THE DASH PROMPTED ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. AFTER BEING NARROWLY MISSED BY MULTIPLE CARS I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE JEEP AND DRIVE OFF OF THE ROAD.

SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING COMES ON ALONG WITH ALL PRND LIGHTS BY GEAR SHIFT WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. 32K MILES ON VEHICLE
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY "SERVICE SHIFTER" HAS COME ON THE SCREEN AND THE PRND LIGHTS ALL TURNED RED. THE CAR WAS DRIVING NORMAL AND I WAS IN A PARKING LOT DOING ABOUT 15MPH. THE 1ST TIME I HAD JUST COME TO A RED LIGHT JUST AFTER LEAVING MY HOME WHICH I QUICKLY RETURNED. I HAVE READ ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUTTING DOWN. IT'S VERY SCARY WHEN THIS COMES ON.
HAVE OWNED MY 2017 GRANITE JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 3.2L V6 SUV SINCE AUGUST 2017. SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR AM INSTRUCTED BY ON SCREEN MESSAGE TO RETURN TO PARK AND THEN SHIFT TO DRIVE AGAIN. ON 01/24/20, WITH 24,000 MILES, WHEN I STARTED THE CAR A SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE COME UP ON MY SCREEN. IT HIGHLIGHTED ALL MY GEAR LIGHTS RED AND THE SCREEN WAS LOCKED TO SERVICE SHIFTER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND THE CAR STARTED NORMALLY. HOWEVER, IN SEARCHING FOR THE ISSUE ONLINE FOUND THAT OVER A HUNDRED JEEP OWNERS HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. SUV RECALL T52: REPROGRAM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS RESOLVED @ ROSEVILLE JEEP 05/01/18. SEVERAL JEEP OWNERS SAID THAT THE ISSUE RECURRED EVEN AFTER THEIR SHIFTER WAS REPLACED. PLEASE ESCALATE THIS ISSUE TO A RECALL AND INVESTIGATE WHAT MUST BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE SO THAT WE ARE NOT CHARGED FOR AN ISSUE THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECTIFY.
I HAVE A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS KEEPS COMING ON. WHEN IT COMES ON ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER GLOW RED. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON EVEN IF I'M SITTING THERE IN PARK. THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T FIND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I LITERALLY HAD TO BRING IT IN WHILE IT WAS ON BUT THEY STILL COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT. I HAD THE SHIFTER AND BEZEL WIRING REPLACED. HOPEFULLY THIS SOLVES THE ISSUE.
AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WILL SHOW ON MY DASHBOARD. IN ORDER FOR ME TO GET THIS TO GO AWAY I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN MY CAR OFF TO RESET THE MESSAGE. THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE MESSAGE DOE NOT COME BACK. THIS MESSAGE WILL SHOW UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS.
SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARED ON DASH DISPLAY AND ALL INDICATORS ON SHIFTER LIT UP. VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN STARTED UPON LEAVING WORK. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. ALL INDICATORS RESET AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AFTER DRIVE 5 MILES.
DRIVING DOWN THE RD SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON , THEN PULL OVER PUT CAR IN PARK THEN THE CAR JUST TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RD. YOU HAVE TO CRANK AND CRANK TO GET IT STARTED BACK WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RD. I ALMOST GOT RUN OVER ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 65. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR THE FEAR OF CAUSING A ACCIDENT AND GETTING KILLED. I HAVE A 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THAT O TRANSPORT DAILY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND LOTS OF OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WHEN I GOOGLED WHAT MY CAR IS DOING.
INTERMITTENTLY, UPON STARTING THE JEEP WILL DISPLAY AND "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING ON MY DASH WITH ALL GEARS INDICATORS (PRNDL) ILLUMINATED IN RED. I AM ABLE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER AND CAN EVEN OPERATE THE VEHICLE BUT, IT FEELS UNSAFE. I HAVE HAD MIXED SUCCESS WITH TURNING THE JEEP OFF AND RESTARTING BUT, MOST OF THE TIME, IT SUCCEEDS IN ELIMINATING THE WARNING AND THE RED LIGHTS. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE POSTED ON VARIOUS WEBSITES AS AN ISSUE FOR A NUMBER OF JEEP MODELS. GUIDANCE OR, A RECALL MAY BE IN ORDER. I WOULD APPRECIATE EITHER.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP. WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE ROAD IN TOWN GOING APPROX 25 MILES PER HOUR. WARNING NOTICE AND SHIFTER LIGHTS WENT OFF WHEN I PULLED OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF.
ON JANUARY 18 2020 I WAS DRIVING AND AFTER ONLY A MILE FROM HOME, COMING TO AN INTERSECTION YIELDING TO GO LEFT, MY CAR COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I TRIED TO RE-START AND TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUETS GET IT TO RESTART. I WAS DRIVING THE MILE HOME WHEN THEN I GOT A 'OIL PRESSURE LOW LIGHT'. I DID AN OIL CHANGE THAT AFTERNOON TO FIND MY CAR ONLY HAD 2 QUARTS OF OIL REMAINING. MY CAR IS BURNING OIL. I DO REGULAR OIL CHANGES. THERE ARE NO LEAKS. I HAD NO WARNING FROM MY CAR THAT MY OIL WAS LOW. ALTHOUGH THE FEATURE TO TURN OFF MY CAR WORKED PROPERLY IN THE EVENT OIL IS LOW, MY CAR IS BURNING A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL AND NOT GIVING ME A LOW OIL WARNING BEFORE TURNING OFF MY CAR. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE AND HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH I GENERALLY TRAVEL. THESE MODEL CARS NEED TO BE FIXED FROM BURNING OIL AND DRIVERS ALERTED TO WHEN THEIR OIL STARTS TO BECOME LOW, NOT JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN SAID SERVICE SHIFTER AND ALL OF MY LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER LIT UP AS WELL. LIGHT WOULD NOT GO AWAY, NO OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON, HOWEVER WHEN BROUGHT TO BE LOOKED AT, NOTHING TO BE FOUND ON DIAGNOSTICS. THE LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND NOT DRIVING, HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS. ALSO HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY, THE LIGHT ISN'T CONSTANTLY ON, BUT COMES ON SPORADICALLY, TURNS OFF WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.
CAR STOPPED ON ME AND KEEPS DOING IT BEFORE IT DOES IT SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP , I HAVE WENT TO A DEALERSHIP. BUT NO ONE HAS HELPED AND MY 2 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE CAR YESTERDAY WHEN I LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH, A SERVICE SHIFTER ALERT ON DASHBOARD. ALL LIGHTS SURROUNDING SHIFTER LIT UP. I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND WHEN I TURNED THE BAR BACK ON, THE ALERTS WERE GONE.
A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD RANDOMLY WHEN I'M DRIVING ON THE STREET AND THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS TURN ON ON THE SHIFTER. I TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND TURN IT BACK ON AND IT GOES AWAY BUT IT COMES BACK ON LATER AGAIN.
MY 2017 JEEP SERVICE SHIFTER KEEPS ON TURNING ON I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE 'RE PROGRAMMED IT' AND 'FIXED WIRING' AND IT STILL KEEPS ON TURNING ON.
DRIVING TO DROP MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE CAME UP AND MY PNDR+- WERE ALL RED. I WAS CLOSE BY A DEALERSHIP SO I TOOK IT SLOW AND PULLED IT RIGHT INTO THE SERVICE AREA. I LEFT THE CAR RUNNING SO THEY COULD SEE WHAT IT WAS DOING. AFTER ABOUT 1 HOUR OF LOOKING AT IT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS CONSIDER AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND NO LONGER COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY THAT ENDED AT 36,000 MILES AND I'M AT 49,000. AND THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER IT EITHER, SO IT WOULD BE UP TO ME TO COVER THE COST AT $135.00 ONE PART, $30.00 FOR ANOTHER PART AND FOR 1.5 HOURS LABOR. WITH ALL THESE COMPLAINTS OVER THE SAME THING YOU'D THINK THIS WOULD BE A RECALL BY NOW, WHOS TO SAY ONCE I PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED THAT IT WONT DO THIS AGAIN
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. SINCE ABOUT 30K I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING THAT IT IS RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING, REGARDLESS OF SPEED. NO ENGINE POWER, AND NO POWER STEERING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A FAIL SAFE DUE TO LOW OIL. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE FCA GUIDELINES AND DEALERS FOR OIL CHANGES AND CANT REALLY MAKE BETWEEN CHANGES. I HAVE DONE MULTIPLE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS BETWEEN TWO DEALERS BC I AM TOLD IT DOESNT BURN ENOUGH FOR FCA STANDARDS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I HAVE CALLED AFTER IT DIED OUT TO ASK FOR A TOW IN AND HAVE BEEN DENIED AND TOLD IT JUST MEANS ITS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I HAVE TO HAVE AN IGNITION COIL REPLACED ON TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS, REPROGRAMMING OF THE SHIFTER PCM, AND REPLACED THE PCM. IT WASNT TILL MY LATEST INCIDENT THAT I RECORDED IT AND POSTED THE VIDEO TO TWITTER THAT AN FCA REP REACHED OUT TO ME TO 'HELP'. I WAS TOLD I STILL NEED TO DO OIL TESTING BC I HAVE TO FAIL 3 IN A ROW FOR FURTHER TESTING REGARDLESS OF A HISTORY OF THE PROBLEM CONTINUING AND NOT GETTING BETTER. 1ST TEST IT WAS ONLY HALF A QUART. DIDNT EVEN MAKE IT TO THE 2ND BEFORE THE CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY, LOST POWER, WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND I HAD TO BE TOWED IN. 1ST WAS TOLD THE MULTIAIR ACTUATOR WENT OUT AND FCA AGREED TO PAY FOR IT, AS IM AT 73K. THEN I HEAR NOTHING FROM ANYONE FOR 8 DAYS TILL I CALL THE DEALER AND IM TOLD THEY ARE WAITING ON SPARK PLUGS. 20MINS LATER THE FCA REP CALLS AND SAYS THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY FOUND, METAL SHAVINGS INSIDE, SCORCHING, A PIECE OF THE EXHAUST VALVE MISSING AND LOST INSIDE THE ENGINE. HOWEVER FCA WILL ONLY PAY FOR 1500 LEAVING THE REST OF THE BILL TO ME FOR SOMETHING THATS NOT MY FAULT AND AN ISSUE THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE. HAD THEY INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM EARLIER REGARDLESS OF THEIR OIL BURNING RULES THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND THE VALVE WAS CRACKED. FCA SAYS THEY ARE NOT SAYING ITS MY FAULT BUT ARE HIDING BEHIND THE WARRANTY.*DT*JB
DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT POPS UP ON MY PANEL TO "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS LIGHT UP IN RED. THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAR IT IS TO PULL OVER AND PUT JEEP IN PARK AND TURN OFF ENGINE. UPON RESTARTING ALL IS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS THE 3RD INCIDENT IN ABOUT 4 WEEKS.
OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, I HAVE INTERMITTENTLY RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER" ON MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE WHILE MY VEHICLES IS IN MOTION. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED AT COMPLETELY RANDOM TIME WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING. DURING THIS CONDITION, THE P, R, N, D SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE ALL LIT UP RED. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, I AM ABLE TO TURN OFF MY ENGINE, AND THEN RESTART IT TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE, BUT I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AS I FEAR I WILL SUDDENLY LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE.
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT TURNS ON AND WONT SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN TO GET THE MESSAGE AND SHIFTER TO RESET. SOMETIMES, IT WILL KEEP GOING INTO SERVICE SHIFTER FOR MULTIPLE TRIES BEFORE THE SHIFTER WILL EVENTUALLY WORK AND DRIVE. IT HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHEN STATIONARY WHEN I FIRST GET IN TO DRIVE AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN SAFELY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF AGAIN FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS. IT WILL HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL DAYS AND THEN NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR A WHILE.
A SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE COME UP ON MY OPTOMETER SCREEN 4 TIMES IN 3 DAYS. THE WARNING APPEARS IN RED LETTERS THAT ALSO HIGHLIGHT ALL GEAR LIGHTS RED AND THE SCREEN WAS LOCKED TO SERVICE SHIFTER. THIS TAKES PLACES WHEN I ATTEMPT TO START MY VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STARTS BUT I CANNOT SHIFT THE GEARS. I HAVE READ OTHER REPORTS OF 2019 MODELS HAVING THIS HAPPEN AND CAR STOPS WHILE IN MOTION. PLEASE REVIEW THIS CASE, SO MANY JEEP CHEROKEE MODELS 2016-2020 HAVE BEEN WIDELY AFFECTED BY THIS SHIFT SYSTEM FAILURE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN, A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGED APPEARED ON THE DASH. THE PRND+- ALL LIT UP RED AS WELL. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND RESTARTED MY CAR. THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AFTER THAT.
SEVERAL TIMES NOW (7-9), MESSAGE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' APPEARS. AT SAME TIME ALL RED DOTS ALONG SIDE THE SHIFTER ILLUMINATE (RED). WHILE TO MESSAGE IS VISIBLE THE CRUISE CONTROL IS DISABLED. TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IN MOST CASES ELIMINATED THE MESSAGE, RED DOTS NOT ILLUMINATE AND CRUISE CONTROL REGAINED FUNCTIONALITY. HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE WHILE THE MESSAGE WAS IN VIEW. THESE EVENTS ALWAYS HAPPENED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION, HAS NOT HAD UPON INITIAL STARTUP.
2017 44K MILES JUST BOUGHT 3 DAYS AGO AND SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON WHILE IN PARK AND THE PRND ALL LIGHT UP RED. ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT GO AWAY IS TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON. HAPPENED AGAIN LATER THAT DAY. THIS WAS DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY (01/04/2020).
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES AWAY, BUT DEALERS ARE SAYING THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT AND NO PROBLEM DETECTED BECAUSE IT GOES AWAY. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MULTIPLE OF OTHER JEEP CHEROKEES.
COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHEN DRIVING WITH 30% OIL LIFE REMAINING WITH NO WARNING. YOU LOOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND CONTROL.
AFTER 19,000 THE DISPLAY SHOWED 'SERVICE SHIFTER'. THE DISPLAY IS LOCKED (UNABLE TO NAVIGATE TO ANY OTHER SCREEN) AND THE RED LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT ARE ILLUMINATED. IF THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON THE MESSAGE AND LIGHTS DISAPPEAR ONLY TO REAPPEAR AFTER ANOTHER 100 MILES. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON ALL THREE OCCASIONS.
AFTER ROUGHLY 38,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WILL OCCASIONALLY DISPLAY A "SERVICE SHIFTER " WARNING. THE ERROR PERSISTS UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED. I PLAN ON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS I AM ABLE AFTER READING OTHER OWNERS WITH THIS WARNING HAVE HAD SEVERE ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLE CHANGING GEARS WITHOUT THE DRIVERS INPUT.
SERVICE SHIFTER THE CAR TURN OFF ON MAJOR HIGHWAY
THIS CAR BURNS OIL AT AN EXTREME RATE, I'VE HAD IT CHECKED OUT FOR CONSUMPTION TESTS AFTER EVERY 1,000 MILES- IT IS ALWAYS LOW ON OIL. WITH NO ANSWERS FROM JEEP WHO IS PERFORMING THESE TASKS. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS BEEN SINCE ABOUT 25,000 MILES- (IM SITTING AT 51,000 NOW) SHAKING BETWEEN GEARS, THE RPM GAUGE TAC JUMPS AROUND, THE CAR SEEMS TO STRUGGLE RUNNING. EVERY TIME THE CAR IS TAKEN IN - I'M TOLD THE CAR IS RUNNING CORRECTLY EVEN WITH HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION AS WELL AS ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION AND THAT THIS IS JEEPS STANDARD. I HAVE YET TO HAVE ANYTHING RESOLVED SINCE I'VE BEEN TOLD THERE ARE ZERO PROBLEMS OR THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUES I'VE HAD. A LESS THAN 3 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD NOT BE BURNING MORE THAN A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THIS IS A CAR THAT HAS A STANDARD OF GETTING OIL CHANGES EVERY 6,000 MILES. HOW IS THIS FOLLOWING JEEPS STANDARD. IF I FOLLOWED THIS STANDARD I WOULD BE PULLING MY CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP EVERY RECOMMENDED 6,000 MILES WITH ZERO OIL. I'VE HAD A STARTER EXPLODE IN MY ENGINE, HAD IT FIXED FOR IT TO ONLY DO THE SAME ISSUE A WEEK LATER. WHEN IN MOTION MY ENTIRE CAR HOPPS AROUND, ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE IT ON THE EXPRESSWAY BECAUSE I KNOW ITS SO DANGEROUS. I CANNOT TRUST THIS CAR GOING OVER 55 MILES AN HOUR. I'VE GIVEN UP HOPE IN JEEP AND STILL CONTINUE TO GET MY REGULAR WORK DONE TO KEEP THE CAR BARELY FUNCTIONING. 51,000 MILES. A CAR THAT AS GOTTEN AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 1,000 MILES THE LAST TWO YEARS. AND HAS HAD COMPLETE REGULAR WORK DONE ON IT. THIS IS NOT OKAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS. *TR
THIS JEEP CHEROKEES OIL IS EVAPORATING CAUSING MY CAR TO CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGH WAY. I CHECK MY OIL EVERY OTHER DAY. MY OIL EVAPORATES WHILE DRIVING I HAVE HAD THE CAR CHECKED FOR OIL LEAKS 5 TIMES. THIS VEHICLE ALSO CUTS OFF AND SAY SHIFTER AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER TURN THE VEHICLE OFF LET SIT FOR 5 MINUTES THEN RESTART. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO GET A TUNE UP AT 50000 MILES DUE TO MANUFACTURAL DEFECT ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC AN ALERT SHOWED THEM WHAT WAS WRONG. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN STRUCK BY OTHER VEHICLES WHILE I AM TRYING TO GET OVER LANES TO PULL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SO MUCH SO I WILL NOT DRIVE WITH MY GROWN CHILDREN AND DEFINITLY NOT MY GRANDCHILDREN.
THE SHIFTER DOES NOT SHIFT THE GEARS CORRECTLY NOT COMMUNICATING TO THE ENGINE ALL LIGHTS ARE RED ON SHIFTER GEAR MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER HOSE WAS NEVER ADDED TO PASSENGERS SIDE MAKING VISIBILITY HARD IN SLUSH OR WINTER WEATHER WITH ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE HOSE HOOKED UP IT DOESN'T CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY

THIS PROBLEM IS RAMPANT AMONG 2017-2018 JEEP CHEROKEES!! THE DEALERS ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM! THEY REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS, THEY REPLACE THE SHIFTERS THEMSELVES, THEY RESET THE COMPUTERS ' AND THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RETURNS! THE VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS SINCE MY PURCHASE DATE ISSUES WITH THE SUNROOF WHICH HAS CONTINUED TO PERSIST, AS WELL AS A STRUT, HUB, STRUT ASSEMBLY, ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE AND ALSO NOW THAT I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THERE ARE MORE PROBLEMS ARISING AND NOW I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON SERVICE ALL BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHTS ON AND LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON AND ALSO A 4WD SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE LIGHT ON AFTER TAKING IT IN TO GET FIXED AND THE DEALERSHIP FIXES ONE PROBLEM AND MORE KEEP ARISING! THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THEN WHEN I TURNED IT BACK IN THAT'S WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT DISENGAGE AND THEN THE SUNROOF AND POPPING SOUNDS WERE HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE IS WHEN I AM DRIVING IT IS SHIFTING WAY TO OFTEN AND SHIFTING VERY WONKY. THEN ALSO WHEN SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION INTO GEAR IT DOESN'T ENGAGE AND THEN WHEN IT DOES IT LITTERALLY COULD THROUGH YOU FORWARD IN YOUR SEAT WHEN IT FINALLY ENGAGES.
