2017 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT. NOW AT 59,000 MILES THE LIGHT HAS CAME ON AGAIN. JUST RANDOMLY USUALLY WHEN IN MOTION. IF YOU PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RESTART IT THE LIGHT USUALLY RESETS AND WONT COME ON FOR A FEW DAYS OR 100 MILES OR SO. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR US AND MANY OTHER JEEP/DODGE/RAM/CHRYSLER OWNERS.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS UP TO 7TH GEAR AND THAN DOWN TO6TH GEAR SOME TIMES ENGINE SHUTS OFF THAN RESTART WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BUT ENGINE RED LINES BEFORE YOU GO IN GEAR.
I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY CAR LOCKED AND TOLD ME SERVICE SHIFTER, I IMMEDIATELY CALL JEEP WHO TOLD ME TO GO THE DEALERSHIP NEAR WHO TOLD ME THEY COULDNT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED
A SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE GEARS (PDNR) LIGHT UP ALL RED. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS ALSO OCCURRED ON CHRISTMAS DAY WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY.
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE A "SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTIFICATION APPEARS ON DASH AND ALL LIGHTS BY SHIFTER ILLUMINATE, IN ORDER TO RESET YOU HAVE TO SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART AND THEN IT MAY OR MAY NOT DO IT NEXT TIME YOU START VEHICLE, IT DOES NOT SEEM TO STOP YOU FROM SHIFTING VEHICLE INTO DESIRED GEAR HOWEVER IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COVERED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL. MY JEEP IS CURRENTLY IN SHOP FOR REPAIR, THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THE BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS HAVE TO BE REPLACED PER A BULLETIN THAT IS CURRENTLY OUT BUT I HAVE TO PAY $100 FOR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER REPAIR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS HAPPENING TO SO MANY PEOPLE AND IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING.
I LEFT WORK TODAY AT 4PM MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A BRIDGE AND I NOTICED I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND TWO ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH AND MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF ON ME AND I BROKE DOWN. I WAS STUCK ON A HIGH TRAFFICKING AREA ON A BRIDGE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I'VE HAD MY JEEP FOR 2 YEARS AND NEVER ONCE HAD ANY ISSUES AND NEVER ONCE FELT LIKE IT WASN'T A SAFE VEHICLE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE MY JEEP NOW AND WANT IT CHECKED OUT COMPLETELY BEFORE THIS HAPPENS AGAIN TO ME.
I HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN THE MORNING AND HEADING DOWN THE NEIGHBOORHOOD ROAD. ABOUT A HALF A MILE INTO MY DRIVE, THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR BEGAN TO COAST, I HAD LOST ENGINE POWER. I TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL AND IT WAS UNRESPONSIVE. I LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASH AND IT WAS OUT. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO LIMP THE CAR TO THE CURB. AFTER APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TURN IT OVER AND START THE ENGINE. MY ENGINE IS CONSUMING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I AM NOT GETTING ALL THE SPEEDS OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. AT 75 I'M A CLOSE TO 3,000 RPM, WHEN I PUT IT INTO MANUAL MODE TO SEE WHAT GEAR I AM AT IT WILL DISPLAY I'M CURRENTLY AT 6TH GEAR. WHERE IS 7,8,AND 9TH?
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE VEHICLE DIED. ATTEMPTS TO RESTART WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL. VEHICLE WAS JUMPED AND STARTED. AT THAT TIME THE DASH DISPLAYED "SHIFTER SERVICE NEEDED". SHIFTER WAS REPLACED. THE DAY AFTER SHIFTER WAS REPLACED THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A DING NOISE (SIMILAR TO SEAT BELT DING) WHILE MAKING A TURN. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS THE MATTER WITH IT. TWO DAYS AFTER THAT WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE VEHICLE MADE A DING NOISE AND STALLED (VEHICLE WAS RUNNING BUT WOULD NOT MOVE). VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. VEHICLE RESTATED EVENTUALLY AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. AFTER THREE DAYS I WAS TOLD THIS IS DUE TO LOW OIL. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO TELL ME HOW LOW MY OIL WAS BUT STATED IT WOULD ONLY NEED TO BE A QUART LOW FOR THIS TO HAPPEN AND THAT JEEP IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS.
THERE IS A SHIFTER ERROR THAT COMES UP ON DASHBOARD AND ALL LIGHTS COME UP ON THE SHIFTER STICK WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE OVER ONE NIGHT WHILE I DRIVING AND I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. SEE LINKS BELOW. IF IT IS BELOW FREEZING OUTSIDE, MY GAS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. WHEN I PRESS THE OPEN BUTTON INSIDE MY CAR, IT MAKES A SOUND AS IF IT IS TRYING TO OPEN, BUT WILL NOT BUDGE. EVEN WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT MANUALLY, IT WON'T OPEN WITHOUT EXTREME FORCE AND SEVERAL MINUTES OF TRYING. MY GAS DOOR HAS POPPED OFF TWICE DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND TRYING TO GET IT OPEN.
MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK KEEPS GIVING ME A "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT/WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE LIGHTS OR WARNING GOES AWAY WHEN I TURN MY JEEP OFF AND I RESTART IT. I CALLED AND WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO TAKE THE JEEP WHEN THE WARNING COMES UP BUT IT IS HARD TO GET IT THERE AS IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM NOT NEAR THE DEALERSHIP. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHILE IN PARK, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY DON'T COVER FIXING THE ISSUE.
SERVICE SHIFTER NOTIFICATION POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD. READING FORUMS IT SEEMS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEPS. THIS ISSUE CAN BE FATAL AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. JEEP DEALERSHIPS REPLACE THE SHIFTER BUT THAT OFTEN DOES NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE, BUT COSTS THE OWNER MONEY.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT AND NOT COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY.
TWICE WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR IN CRUISE ON THE FREEWAY THE CENTER SCREEN DISPLAYED "SERVICE SHIFTER". ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER PANEL DISPLAYED RED. THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED BOTH TIMES AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AFTER STOPPING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE OIL WAS LOW AND THE ENGINE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND SHIFTER LIGHTS ALL TURN RED. INITIALLY WOULD RESET AFTER RESTART, NOW STAYS ON. STARTED AT 20,000 MILES, NOW AT 32,800.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING APPEARED WHILE DRIVING. ALL GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS NEAR SHIFTER ILLUMINATED RED. THIS OCCURRED DURING TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY AROUND 30 MPH.
WHEN DRIVING, AN ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP AND SAID "SERVICE SHIFTER". ON THE GEAR SHIFT, ALL OF THE LIGHTS LIT UP RED (PARKING, NEUTRAL, 1ST, 2ND, DRIVE, AND REVERSE). I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER. AFTER I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT WENT AWAY. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF COMPLAINTS. MANY OF WHICH, JEEP HAD NO IDEA HOW TO FIX. MOST COMPLAINTS ALSO STATED THAT IT WENT AWAY, ONLY TO COME BACK AFTER ANOTHER 1000 MILES OR SO. IF THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS, AND JEEP IS OBVIOUSLY HAVING A PROBLEM IDENTIFYING WHY, SHOULDN'T THIS BE A RECALL? THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A FAULT IN THEIR PRODUCT OR WIRING. THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND/OR LAWSUITS. PLEASE HELP.
MY GEAR SHIFT PRND LETTERS WILL RANDOMLY LIGHT UP WITH A WARNING BEING DISPLAYED SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER. THE LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED. THE LIGHT SHUTS OFF WHEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND TURNED BACK ON BUT COMES ON RANDOMLY AGAIN PERIODICALLY.
SERVICE GEAR SHIFTER MESSAGE WAS ON WHEN JEEP CHEROKEE WAS STARTED. 46K MILES, NO ISSUES WITH SHIFTER PRIOR. SHIFTER WAS LOCKED IN PARK UNTIL VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED; THEN MESSAGE WAS GONE, VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION.
"SERVICE SHIFTER IMMEDIATELY" NOTICE CAME ON, ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER LIT UP RED. UNABLE TO MOVE VEHICLE. PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED, ALL LIGHTS OFF. HAS BEEN SHIFTING STRANGE THOUGH.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT CAME ON AND A DAY LATER THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE ISSUES IVE BEEN HAVING WITH THE SERVICE AIR BAG AND THE SEAT BELT LIGHT THAT CONTANTLY STAYS ON.
ON TWO OCCASIONS THIS WEEK THE JEEP CHEROKEE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS STARTLING AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING LEFT IT DIFFICULT TO PULL OVER. UPON INQUIRY FROM A LOCAL JEEP DEALER, THEY INDICATED IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IF THE OIL IS LOW. THE OIL WAS IN FACT 3/4 QUART LOW AND WAS REMEDIED HOWEVER THERE SHOULD BE A LIGHT THAT COMES ON NOT A SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO INDICATION ON THE DASH REGARDING LOW OIL. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD POTENTIALLY BE DEADLY.
THIS VEHICLES HAD A RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION- THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS TO HAVE CORRECTED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS STILL HAVING SLIPPING ISSUES. ALSO JUST RECENTLY I NOTICED WHEN STARTING MY VEHICLE WITH THE FOB IT STAYS ON 30 SECS AND CUTS RIGHT BACK OFF. THE TIRE FEATURE ISN'T ALWAYS CORRECT EITHER IT SAYS I NEED AIR WHEN I DON'T. I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE REMOTE START FEATURE..
DASH INDICATES SERVICE SHIFTER, ALL P-R-N-D GEAR LIGHT COMES RED. SECOND TIME IN A MONTH NOW.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING APPEARED AND ALL LIGHTS ON THE PRNDM TURNED RED. VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STARTED TO STALL OUT AND LEAD TO A MISFIRE FROM CYLINDER 2
I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AT A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR SHUT OF. I MANEUVERED OVER AS MUCH AS I COULD. WOULD NOT RESTART. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED IT HAD NO OIL. IT HAD AN OIL CHANGE WITH IN THE LAST MONTH. IN THE TWO YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT, IT HAS HAD TO BE TOWED FOR THIS 1-2 OTHER TIMES AS IT RUNS OUT OF OIL AND SHUTS DOWN BEFORE THE RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGE DATE OR MILEAGE. I WAS NEVER INFORMED TO MONITOR THE OIL UNTIL RECENTLY. AFTER THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS TOLD TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AT 4000 MILES INSTEAD OF 5000 AND I HAVE BEEN DOING THAT IT OR ADDING OIL IF I CANNOT GET IT RIGHT IN. IT ALSO HAS NO WARNING THAT IT IS LOW ON OIL.
11/18/2019,WHEN I WAS GOING TO PARK AT MY DAUGHTER 'S DAYCARE ON W 87TH ST, THE ENGINE JUST STOPPED WORKING AND THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE ANY MORE.THE SCREEN SHOWED"SHIFT TO PARK OR NEUTRAL PRESS BRAKE+SELECT GEAR".WE TRIED TO DO AS THE SCREEN TOLD BUT STILL THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO RETART THE CAR, THEN WE CAN MOVE AGAIN. 11/21/2019,THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I JUST STARTED THE CAR AND GOING TO ENTER IN THE REMINGTON BLVD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (MIDSTATE AUTO GROUP INC 810 WASHINGTON ST, AUBURN, MA 01501, (508) 832-8886) TO BE DIAGNOSED. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 5-10 MILES BUT WAS STILL UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO HAVE A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,406.
GETTING A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING ON BOTH HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS WHILE MOVING. ALL THE SHIFT POSITIONS LIGHT UP ON THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE MAIN DISPLAY SHOWS "SERVICE SHIFTER". AFTER RESEARCH, I FIND MANY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MULTIPLE JEEP CHEROKEE MESSAGE BOARDS ONLINE. MANY STATING THAT IT COMES BACK AFTER "REPAIR". IT KEEPS SAYING SWIFT SHIFTER. ALL OF THE LIGHTS COME ON WHERE I SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE
SERVICE SHIFT STARTER WARNING COMES ON CONSTANTLY WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET.
LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. D ON THE GEAR SHIFT WAS FLASHING. WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE AND TRAVEL FOR ABOUT 300 FEET AND THEN LOST POWER AGAIN. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS. FINALLY RESTARTED AFTER SHOWING NO SIGNS THAT IT WAS GOING TO. WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT WHICH WAS LESS THAN A HALF MILE AWAY.
WHILE DRIVING CAR WILL COME UP WITH A MESSAGE OF SERVICE SHIFTER ON THE DASH AND ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE LIT UP RED. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND SINCE IT IS NOT ON WHEN I ARRIVE (ONCE YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT USUALLY GOES AWAY) AND SINCE IT IS NOT THROWING A CODE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO EVEN THOUGH I TAKE PICTURES EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS.
CAR WILL SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. BRAKES AND GAS WON'T WORK. POWER STEERING FUNCTION IS LOST. ERROR MESSAGE ON DASH READS SERVICE TRANSMISSION RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE AT ZERO SPEED.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAM ON FEB 2019 AND WAS REPLACED. 6 MONTHS LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND WAS REPLACED FOR A 2ND TIME. OCTOBER 2019 MY CAR WAS SPUTTERING AT AN IDLE AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY AND AN ENGINE COIL WAS REPLACED. NOV 2019 WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THERE WOULD BE A 15-20 SECOND LAG BEFORE IT WOULD JUMP INTO GEAR AND LUNG FORWARD. I ALSO START EXPERIENCING DELAYS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE IT WOULD LAG FOR ABOUT 10 SECOND BEFORE JERKING INTO GEAR AND LUNG FORWARD AT A HIGHER SPEED. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CODE P0304 MISFIRE CYLINDER 4. DEALERSHIP REPLACED (UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY) BOOT KIT - IGNITION COIL, LUBRICANT - DIELECTRIC, TRANSMISSION MOUNT, REPLACED VALVE BODY AND TRANS RANGE SENSOR. CAR WAS PURCHASED IN DECEMBER OF 2017 WITH 12 MILES ON IT, CURRENT MILEAGE 55,989 WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE ON VEHICLE.

OUR LIGHTS ON SHIFTER HAVE ALL LIGHT UP AND SCREEN IN DASH TELLS UP SERVICE SHIFTER WHILE DRIVIN,IT DRIVES FINE BUT I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL LOCK WHEELS ON HIGHWAY WITH MY TWO LITTLE KIDS IN THE JEEP.WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES AFTER IT HAPPENS AND ALL WE ARE TOLD IS THEY HAVE TO HAVE THE JEEP WHEN SHIFTER ACTS UP AND SERVICE SHIFTER IS ON SCREEN.ALSO HAVE HAD JEEP IN SERVICE ABOUT RADIO FREEZES UP NOTHING ON SCREEN OR STEERING WHEEL WORKS AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. I AM SEEING BOTH PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE DEALING WITH TOO.I HAVE CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AND WAS TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID MAYBE I NEED TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND JEEP CUSTOMER CARE CLOSED THE TICKET ON THE ISSUES.THIS DEALERSHIP IS LARRY H MILLER IN UTAH.I HAVE 6000 MILES LEFT ON WARRANTY AND I AM FEELING THAT THE DEALSHIP DOESN'T CARE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. IT HAPPENED AT ROY, UTAH.
WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY, A "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT CAME ON IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, AND ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE GEAR SHIFTER WERE ON. I THOUGHT I WAS STUCK, BUT THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND PARK THE VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF.
THE SHIFTER IS GOING OUT WITH 47000 MILES IN IT AND NO RECALL OR ANYTHING .SO ONE DAY IT WILL NOT GO IN GEAR .
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON WHEN STARTING VEHICLE UP AND WHEN DRIVING. TOOK INTO DEALER REPLACED SHIFTER AND LIGHT STILL COMES ON. BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. DEALER WILL NOT PROVIDE LOANER CARS AND VEHICLE IS ALMOST OUT OF WARRANTY, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY, WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON ONE OCCASION THE BRAKE ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FLEMINGTON DODGE JEEP (204 HIGHWAY 202/31, FLEMINGTON, NJ 08822, (800)796-9902). THE DEALER INSPECTED THE STAR CONNECTORS AND FOUND MULTIPLE PINS WITH CORROSION. THE DEALER CLEANED THE STAR CONNECTER AND ADDED DI-ELECTRIC GREASE TO THE CONNECTORS. THE IPE AND IP3 HAD LOSE PINS IN THE CONNECTORS. THE PINS WAS REPAIRED AND SECURED INTO THE CONNECTOR HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REFUSED TO PROVIDE THE CONTACT WITH FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO WELSH JEEP CHRYSLER (36 DUMONT RD, FAR HILLS, NJ, 07931, (908)234-0109) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGING INDEPENDENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FOUR-STAR CONNECTORS AND PLUGS WERE INCORRECTLY CONNECTED AND THERE WAS NO DE-ELECTRIC GREASE ON THE CONNECTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,994.
WHEN STARTING OR DRIVING THE CAR, THE SERVICE SHIFTER AMONG MANY OTHER WARNINGS COME ON AND THE CAR DOES NOT FUNCTION NORMALLY AFTER THAT. IT IS VERY SLUGGISH AND JERKS WHILE ACCELERATING. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE IN MOTION. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO DEALERSHIPS AND TWO YEARS LATER THE PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING. I KNOW OF MANY PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURES ARE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. MY FAMILY AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS JEEP.

THE CONTACT HAD TO MAKE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY SIX OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAASZ AUTOMALL OF DALTON (315 S MILL ST, DALTON, OH 44618) WHERE THEY REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND A COIL TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,041.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. RESETS WHEN VEHICLE IS RESTARTED
WHILE PICKING UP MY OLDEST CHILD FROM SCHOOL, MY THREE YEAR OLD TODDLER REACHED THE SHOULDER SAFETY BELT LOCATED IN THE CENTER SEAT (NEXT TO HER CAR SEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE) AND IT GOT WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK AND NEARLY STRANGLED HER. MY CHILD YELLED FOR HELP. I GOT OUT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT AND RAN TO HER AID AND IMMEDIATELY PUT MY FINGERS BETWEEN HER NECK AND THE BELT. I SCREAMED FOR HELP. SEVERAL ADULTS CAME TO AID AND THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT LET UP. EVERY MOVEMENT AND ATTEMPT MADE TO GET IT TO RELEASE MADE THE BELT TIGHTEN EVEN MORE AROUND MY CHILD'S NECK. THE SEATBELT HAD TO BE CUT IN ORDER TO STOP THE HORRIBLE SITUATION THAT OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS IN PARK WHEN THIS OCCURRED. MY CHILD HAD NECK SWELLING AND SOME BRUISING FROM THE INCIDENT. HAD MY CHILD BEEN NON VERBAL AND NOT ABLE TO GET MY ATTENTION, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT CHANCE SHE WOULD HAVE DIED. THERE IS NO REASON A TODDLER SHOULD BE ABLE TO REACH THE SHOULDER STRAP WHILE IN HER CAR SEAT HARNESSED. THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT LET GO. IT REMAINED LOCKED AND WITH EVERY MOVEMENT OF MY CHILD (MY CHILD WAS PANICKING AND MOVING) IT WOULD TIGHTEN FURTHER. A CHILD THAT AGE DOES NOT KNOW OF THE DANGERS OF SEATBELTS AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY PRECAUTION IN PLACE FOR THIS KIND OF SITUATION. I BELIEVE THE SEATBELT IS DEFECTIVE AND EVEN SO THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RELEASE BUTTON FOR THE MIDDLE SHOULDER STRAP.
VEHICLE GIVES 'SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTICE AND ALL DRIVE COMPONENTS TURN RED. DOES NOT GO AWAY UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS OCCURS WHILE PARKED AND WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING. WHEN RECEIVING THIS ERROR WHILE CAR IS OPERATING CAUSES ME TO HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN.
