TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. ADDITIONALLY, SEVERAL ADDITIONAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED IN RED WITH THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE WAS SELF CORRECTED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND VIBRATED AND FAILED TO IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT ON DASH TOO TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED THEN 3-4 MONTHS LATER IT STARTED HAPPING AGAIN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT'S UNDER A LEASE AND IT WOULD BE 210 DOLLARS FOR THE PART AND ABOUT 500 DOLLARS FOR LABOR AND IF WE CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT GETTING IT FIX IT COULD STALL OUT ANYWHERE AT ANY TIME
SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS, INCLUDING TODAY; WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 25-35 MILES THERE WILL BE A "SERVICE SHIFTER" NOTIFICATION AND THE ASSOCIATED 'DING' NOISE NOTIFICATION THAT COMES ON. THIS NOTIFICATION BLOCKS ANY ACTION ON THE SCREEN BETWEEN THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM MONITOR AND ONLY SUCCESSFULLY GOES AWAY WHEN TURNING THE JEEP COMPLETELY OFF. THIS HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION, PARTICULARLY ON HIGHWAYS, AND SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN IF I HAVE USED OR AM USING CRUISE CONTROL ON THE TRIP. IT ALSO ILLUMINATES ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER (PNRD +/-). IT SEEMS THAT THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A MORE SERIOUS ISSUE WITH SHIFTING, CAUSE ME TO BECOME STRANDED, OR BECOME DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS.
WE WERE DRIVING FROM TALLAHASSEE TO CAPE CANAVERAL FLORIDA. AS WE NEARED GAINESVILLE THE CAR HANDLING BECAME ERRATIC. AT THE TIME WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE AND TRAVELING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. WE STOPPED IN GAINESVILLE AT A COOPER DEALER AND THEY SAID A FRONT TIRE TREAD HAD SHIFTED. A NEW TIRE WAS PURCHASED. WE CONTINUED OUR TRIP AND AFTER ABOUT 1 HOUR THE SAME HANDLING PROBLEM OCCURRED JUST AS WE GOT ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE.. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A COOPER DEALER IN LEE FLORIDA AND WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE OTHER FRONT TIRE HAD FAILED DUE TO THE SAME REASON. TIRES HAD ABOUT 13,00 MILES ON THEM. ANOTHER NEW TIRE WAS PURCHASED. WHEN WE RETURNED HOME I CONTACTED COOPER. THEIR FIRST RESPONSE WAS TO SEE A DEALER. I THEN RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE TIRES PICKED UP AND SENT TO THEIR FACTORY. ANOTHER EMAIL WAS THEN RECEIVED SAYING TO SEE A DEALER. FOUR COOPER ULTRA TOURING TIRES WERE PURCHASED 04/27/2018. THE TWO FRONT TIRES FAILED ON AUGUST 29/2019. MILEAGE AT PURCHASE WAS JUST OVER 28,000 AND FAILED AT 41,000. TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED TWICE.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW FORM THE DEALER (FARRISH CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM AT 9610 FAIRFAX BLVD. VA 22031 AND IT ALWAYS HAVE ISSUES AND STOPS RUNNING, AND I HAVE TO DROP IT OFF TO THEIR SHOP AND IT TAKES FEW DAYS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WHICH CAUSE ME SOME PROBLEMS TO STRUGGLE WITH MY WORK SCHEDULE AND MY SON SCHOOL AND OTHER FAMILY SCHEDULES. SO I NEED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE AS I AM A SINGLE MOM AND I NEED TO NOT STRUGGLE MUCH WITH A NEW VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING A WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER", THE CAR DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE PROBLEMS, HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME AFTER INSPECTION IT WILL BE $600 AS THE HARNESS IS BAD. IF I DO NOT REPLACE THE CAR CAN BECOME CONFUSED ON WHAT GEAR IT IS IN AND RANDOMLY SHIFT, MAJOR CONCERN IF YOU ARE TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE...
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE STEERING LOCKS UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE AND THE SHIFTER CONTROL MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 10 MONTHS SINCE THAT SERVICE. CHRYSLER HAS A WARNING NOTED BUT IT'S NOT A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN THE HIGHWAY AND WITH 3 KIDS IN THE CAR I HAD THE BRAKE ,ABS, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UP. I WASN'T ABLE TO DRIVE IT AFTERWARDS. I HAD TO TURN OFF VEHICLE AND WAIT A BIT THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES.I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NO RECALLS.MY VEHICLE HAS 50,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE IT HAD 25,000. THD DEALERSHIP HAS ADVISED ME MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND UNABLE TO FIX IT UNLESS I PAY OUT OF POCKET.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS TURNING ON WHILE DRIVING. THEN AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE LIGHTNMESSAGE GOES AWAY DEALER SHIP HAS BEEN NO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER DIAGNOSED A BEZEL KITSHIFT AND WIRING SHIFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PARTS ARE ON A ONE MONTH BACKORDER INDICATING HUGE DEMAND FOR PARTS. SURPRISED IT WAS NOT RECALLED.
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST SPEED AND ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. A WARNING POPPED UP "SHIFT TO PARK OR NEUTRAL PRESS BRAKE + SELECT GEAR". AT THE SAME TIME ON THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFT CONSOLE, THE RED LIGHT THAT HIGHLIGHTED I WAS IN DRIVE BEGAN TO BLINK, I LOST ALL ABILITY TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK. TURNED THE CAR OFF, TRIED TO RESTART AND THE CAR WOULD SPUTTER, BUT EVENTUALLY CATCH. HAPPENED TWICE - TWO DAYS IN A ROW.
WHILE DRIVING, A MESSAGE CAME UP ON CENTER DISPLAY ADVISING, "SERVICE SHIFTER". ONCE THIS HAPPENED ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER SELECTOR LIGHT UP (PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE, -, +). WE WERE IN A 45MPH ZONE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE LIGHT NEVER TURNED OFF DURING THE ENTIRE 40 MINUTE DRIVE.
CHEROKEE (2017) HAS ZF 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION. WHEN CHANGING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO REVERSE TRANSMISSION IS SLOW TO RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN MAKING TURNS OR GOING UP A HILL AND PUSHING GAS PEDAL TO RECOVER SPEED. ENTERING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC OR PASSING HAS SLOW RESPONSE TO GAS PEDAL. JEEP SAYS IT'S NORMAL. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HAVE ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLY DIE FROM THIS.
WHEN DRIVING SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND BATTERY LIGHT. LOSES POWER, SHUTS DOWN AND WHEN TRYING TO RESTART ACTS LIKE SOMETHING IS STICKING
IN MOTION 3 TIMES NOW ALL SHIFTING LIGHTS LIGHT AND WE GET ERROR MESSAGE SERVICE SHIFTER SOON. ONCE IT STARTED RUNNING RUFF AND FELT LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO SHIFT WITHOUT HUMAN INPUT. PULLED OVER TURNED OFF WAITED SHORT TIME STARTED AND ERROR WAS GONE. THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED TURNED OFF CLEARED ON RESTART AND DROVE 1/4 MILE CAME BACK ON. NO DEALER IN AREA CLAMES TO HAVE EVER HEARD OF IT. I CAN FIND OTHERS ON ONLINE FORMS WITH SAME ISSUE DEALERS ALSO SAYING NEVER HEARD OF IT. A FIX NEEDS TO BE FOUND OTHERWISE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE LAWN ORNAMENT.
SERVICE SHIFTER NOTIFICATION CAME ON AGAIN. I HAD IT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 33704 MILES. CAME ON AGAIN APPROXIMATELY 50,000. CALLED DEALERSHIP, NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. LOOKED ONLINE, THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH CHEROKEE'S AND FGA WILL NOT DO A RECALL. **THIS NOTIFICATION CAMES UP ON THE HUD AND CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT SERVICE, THUS MAKING MY DISPLAY USELESS.**
HAS I AM DRIVING MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON. IT WILL RESET AFTER I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF.

EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON LOCKING OUT ANY SHIFTER CONTROLS. I WAS INSTRUCTED IN ORDER TO RESET TO PULL OVER TO A SAFE PLACE SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESET THE IGNITION. AS THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE IT IS NOT A FEASIBLE SOLUTION. CALLING CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO OPEN ISSUES RECALLS OR WARRANTY FOR ANY SUCH ISSUE. LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND THOUSANDS OF REPORTED ISSUES OF THE SAME THING.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT IS RANDOMLY COMING ON - SOMETIMES IN PARK AND SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING. WHEN THE WARNING COMES ON WHILE DRIVING I CAN NOT SEE MY SPEED OR SPEEDOMETER. SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT MAKE THE ISSUE GO AWAY - UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT COMES ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 2-3 WEEKS. I LOOKED THIS UP AND IT SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH 2016-2017 JEEP CHEROKEES.
IN JANUARY 2019, MY JEEP BEGAN JERKING DURING ACCELERATION. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOTIFIED ME THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DURING REMOVAL OF THE ENGINE, THE ALTERNATOR WAS DAMAGED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. TWO MONTHS LATER I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK AND 10 MILES LATER THE SAME JERK OCCURRED. AFTER IMMEDIATELY RETURNING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A RIDE ALONG WITH THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REPAIR TOOK ANOTHER TWO WEEKS. AT WHICH TIME THE FCC REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN EVEN MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND HAS HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. NOW, THREE MONTHS LATER, THE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS COME ON UPON CRANKING THE VEHICLE. WHICH IS ALSO TRANSMISSION RELATED. WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO RECOGNIZE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE FOR CONSUMERS?
AS I TOOK A LEFT HAND TURN MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4 CY 4WD JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, I JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGED 5000 MILES AGO BUT YET, THERE WAS BARELY ANY OIL IN MY VEHICLE. I WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, CAR COULD HAVE REAR ENDED ME.
TODAY WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I GET INTO MY CAR AND TURN IT ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER ARE LIT UP RED AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER DISPLAY COMES ON. I TURN OFF MY CAR AND RESTART IT AND THE LIGHTS GO OFF. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE WHEN I GOT I TO MY VEHICLE TO START IT.
2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED - 36,600 MILES. STARTED MY CAR, PUT IT IN REVERSE AND THE SHIFTER SERVICER MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASH AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS WHERE MY SHIFTER IS LOCATED TURNED RED. TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AND THE MESSAGE WAS GONE AND LIGHTS WERE OFF. EXACTLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED YESTERDAY AFTER ANOTHER 50 MILES. TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED, SAME RESULTS. IT SCARES ME. I GOOGLED SERVICE SHIFTER JEEP AND SUDDENLY THERE WERE TONS OF COMPLAINTS FOR MULTIPLE MODEL YEARS FOR THE SAME THING. IS THIS CAR SAFE?
WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 CHEROKEE LATITUDE ON THE INTERSTATE, A "SERVICE SHFTER" WARNING APPEARED AND ALL THE RED LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER (P, R, N &D) ALL ILLUMINATED. I WAS ABOUT A MILE AWAY FROM A CUSTOMER, SO I PULLED IN AND PUT THE JEEP IN PARK. HOWEVER, WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE JEEP WENT FORWARD HITTING MY CUSTOMERS FENCE
SERVICE SHIFTER NOTIFICATION
THE DASH LIGHTED UP WITH THE SHIFTER SERVICE LIGHT AND THEN ALL LIGHTS LEFT OF THE SHIFTER TURNED ON ( P,N,D). IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SO FAR WHILE THE CAR IS HEADING DOWN THE ROAD. EACH TIME WE PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN WHEN WE TURN THE CAR ON IT GOES AWAY; AFRAID THAT THIS WILL AFFECT CAR PERFORMANCE SOONER OR LATER. GOT ON INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BEING EXPERIENCED BY MANY JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS. IT IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED IN MY CENTER DISPLAY AND ALL THE RED LIGHTS NEXT TO THE SHIFTER WERE LIT UP. NOT SURE WHY OR WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.
THE SHIFTER HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE ON THE VEHICLE; THE FIRST TIME IN WARRANTY (2018) AND THE SECOND TIME THIS WEEKEND WHERE I NEEDED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. (JUNE 2019) AT RANDOM TIMES, THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARS AND THE ENTIRE SHIFTIER PANEL LIGHTS UP. THE CAR ACCELERATES BY ITSELF AND SOMETIMES THE CAR JERKS FORWARD ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK OR I AM ON THE BRAKES.IN RUSH HOUR HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC OR LOCAL TRAFFIC SAME THING. I CAN BE DOING 20 MPH OR 75 MPH AND THE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS. I REPORTED THIS TO MY RICK HENDRICKS JEEP DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY SEEN IT BEFORE AS WELL AS NAPLETON IN FLORIDA. I ALSO LOOKED ONLINE AND SEE THAT MULTIPLE 2016 -2018 JEEP OWNERS REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE ONCE THE CAR IS MORE THAN 10,000 MILES. THE CAR CHANGES GEAR BY ITSELF.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE APPEARED ON SCREEN, ALL LIGHTS ON PNRD TURNED RED, COULD NOT SEE WHAT GEAR VEHICLE WAS IN. HAD TO TURN CAR OFF TO GET MESSAGE TO LEAVE.HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES NOW.. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON BOTH CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES UP ON THE SCREEN SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST TURNED ON AND OTHER TIMES IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. WE TOOK IT DO THE DEALER AND THEY SCANNED CODES AND THE CODE FOR A PROBLEM DETECTED WITH THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE CAME UP. THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER REPLACED THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THAT PART. THIS WAS DONE JULY 19, 2019. WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS, THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING AGAIN; SO NOW THE PART AND WIRING HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AN INDICATOR LIGHT IN THE DASH CAME ON THAT STATED "SERVICE SHIFTER". THEN NEXT TO THE ACTUAL SHIFTER ALL OF THE PRND LIGHTS LIT UP AND STAYED LIT FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE DRIVE.
THE FAR-LEFT BACKUP SENSOR 'JUST FELL OUT' AT SOME POINT, UNKNOWN IF THE CAR WAS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES OR DAMAGE AROUND THE BUMPER THAT I CAN SEE WHICH WOULD INDICATE IT HAVING BEEN KNOCKED LOOSE OR PRIED OUT.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS APPEARS ON DASHBOARD AND SHIFTER GEAR LIGHTS ARE ALL IN RED. THE ONLY 'FIX' I HAVE READ ABOUT IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN TO 'RESET' THE CAR COMPUTER. THE LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE A CITY STREET. JEEP APPARENTLY DOES NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OR A PERMANENT FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE SERVICE GEAR SHIFTER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE PARKING BRAKE INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, SHIFTED INTO PARK, AND THEN PLACED INTO DRIVE. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. LANDMARK DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AT (816) 836-0100 (LOCATED AT 1900 S NOLAND RD, INDEPENDENCE, MO 64055) AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 59323175. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I DEACTIVATED CRUISE CONTROL AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO PASS SOMEONE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER I HAD RELEASED THE GAS PEDAL AND SO I PRESSED THE CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL MULTIPLE TIMES AND TAPPED ON THE GAS AND THEN THE BRAKE AFTER THAT MY CAR JERKED AND IT STOPPED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN.
MY "SHIFTER NEEDS SERVICE" LIGHT COMES ON, ALONG WITH ALL OF THE OTHER LIGHTS AND I AM FORCED TO STOP MY CAR, TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR THE LIGHT TO GO AWAY. I HAVE IT SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE BUT THEY WILL NEED IT A MINIMUM OF 2 DAYS. IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES YET THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. WONDERING WHY NOT?
MY VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD, IT HAS JUST POPPED UP WITH A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE. IT IS NOT ABLE TO BE REBOOTED. ALSO, WHEN THE COMPUTER IS TESTED NOTHING POPS UP TO FIX. VERY FRUSTRATING AND SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A LOT OF SIMILAR CASES.
ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY SERVICE SHIFTER CAME ON MY DASHBOARD AND ALL MY GEARS TURNED RED.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT
THE SERVICE SHIFT LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES ON MY CAR. JUST BROUGHT IT IN FOR AN UPDATE AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP, AND STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM. CAR RUNS FINE ONCE IT IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF. HOWEVER, PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING LIGHT HAS APPEARED TWICE IN TWO DAYS. ALL THE LIGHTS COME ON NEXT TO THE SHIFTER MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHAT THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO. ALSO, THIS "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL YOU RESTART THE VEHICLE, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANY OTHER GAUGES WHILE THIS WARNING IS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 32,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE FOUND MANY SIMILAR POSTS ONLINE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN DECLARED FOR CORRECTING THIS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKING AFTER TAKING NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND PARKED. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT ON AT 18,000 MILES WHEN STARTED. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ROUGH 1ST-3RD GEAR. ENGINE HAS ALSO RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHEN STARTED AND WILL NOT START BACK UP.
DEALER REPLACED SHIFTER ASSSY BUT STILL GETTING FREQUENT 'SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR MESSAGES. DEALER ALSO COMPLETED ANY RECALLS AND NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. STILL GETTING THE ERROR MESSAGE.
WHILE MOVING ON A CITY STREET, THE MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARED ON INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ALL GEAR LIGHTS ON SHIFT CONSOLE ILLUMINATED RED. CONDITION REMAINED UNTIL VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF, THEN BACK ON.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY CAR DISPLAYED SERVICE SHIFTER AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER WERE LIT UP.
LOW OIL INDICATOR NEVER CAME ON.THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN, WHEN THE OIL IS TO LOW WITHOUT ANY INDICATION LIGHT COMING ON THAT THE OIL IS LOW. THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM TO THE POINT WHERE THE DEALERS KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE IS. MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHEN TURNING RIGHT AND INDICATED THAT I NEEDED TO PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT. I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS ALMOST DRY! I ADDED OIL AND WILL BE TAKING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP! THIS JEEP ONLY HAS 25K MILES ON IT
CAR HAS BEEN IN SHOP NUMEROUS TIME SHIFTER SERVICE 3 TIMES ALTERNATOR ENGINE 4 TIMES, NEW TIRES NEEDED AT 20,000 MILES ETC. STOPS WORKING SHUTS OFF NUMEROUS TIMES ON HIGHWAY IN MOTION!!!
2017 CHEROKEE HAD A "SERVICE SHIFTER" ALERT POP UP AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIT UP RED. HAVE 33,700 MILES. ALERT CAME ON DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A CITY STREET. I WASN'T FAR FROM WORK , SO AS SOON AS I PULLED IN I PUT IT IN PARK TURNED OFF THE ENGINE WAITED A FEW MINUTES KEEPING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND RESTARTED IT TO MAKE SURE IT HAD GONE INTO PARK. (LIGHTS WERE ALL RED, SO WHILE I KNEW I HAD IT IN POSITION I WANTED TO BE SURE) I ALSO PLACED MY PARKING BRAKE TO BE ON SAFE SIDE.
