TURNED VEHICLE ON, WARNING SOUNDED. ON DASH READ 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER WERE LIT UP. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. WHEN RE-STARTED, THE WARNING LIGHT DISAPPEARED.
VERY FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT WILL COME ON AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE PRNDL WILL BE SOLID RED, WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE OPERATOR TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO PARK ETC. THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DRIVE CONTROL SCREEN AND IS UNABLE TO BE CLEARED. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THE ENGINE OCCASIONALLY LURCHING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP WHEN THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT IS ON. AT FIRST THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' LIGHT WOULD ONLY COME ON OCCASIONALLY, MAYBE EVERY MONTH OR SO, BUT NOW IT COMES ONLY 80% OF THE TIME I DRIVE IT. IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM WHEN IT WILL APPEAR, IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AFTER 2 HOURS OF DRIVING. IT HAPPENS WHILE MAKING MY 5 MINUTE COMMUTE TO WORK, SOMETIMES IT APPEARS AS SOON AS I TURN ON MY CAR. THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE IS TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON, AND THIS IS NOT ALWAYS EFFECTIVE.
SHIFTER KEEPS COMING UP WITH ERROR AND SHOWS ON SCREEN AND ALL LIGHTS LIGHT UP ON SHIFTING PANEL WHILE MOVING OR SITTING STILL. IF YOU STOP CAR AND TURN OFF, THEN TURN BACK ON SEEMS TO RESET.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE KEEPS COMING UP AND ALL LIGHTS ON GEARS TURN RED AND I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS MODEL JEEP. IT HAPPENS WHEN SWITCHING GEAR, PARKING, DRIVING. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!
WHILE DRIVING THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND EVERY LIGHT ON THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS UP. DEALER SAYS THEY DO NOT KNOW. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF IT WENT AWAY. DEALER TOLD ME WE ARE FINE TO DRIVE IF IT DOESNT COME BACK
SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE PRND LIGHTS
I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN DECEMBER OF 2016. IT IS A 2017 VEHICLE THAT JUST HAS 37K MILES ON IT AND THE PRNDL SHIFTER AND CONNECTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.IT ALSO NEEDS A NUMBER 2 IGNITION COIL. THIS IS A NEW CAR....IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR JUST STARTED SHAKING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I COULD HEAR A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. WHY HASN'T THIS CAR BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS??
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR STREET WHEN THE MESSAGE SERVICE SHIFTER POPPED UP ON MY DASHBOARD. THE LIGHTS TURNED RED ON ALL GEARS. I COULD NOT SEE MY SPEED OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION. MY MILEAGE HAD JUST READ 19141 I BELIEVE PRIOR TO THE SCREEN GOING TO SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. I PLACED THE GEAR INTO PARK. I THEN GOOGLED THE MESSAGE, MAKE, AND MODEL TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION. I FOUND FORUM ON CARGURUS.COM STATING TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART. I WAITED 10 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE.THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND THE RED GEAR LIGHTS TURNED OFF.
MESSAGE ON DASH CAME UP SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER. ALL LIGHTS ON AROUND THE SHIFT STICK. CALLED DEALER N THEY SAY IT'S A 'COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS' AND I NEED A SHIFTER MODULE N WIRING. I LOOKED IT UP ON INTERNET N THERE ARE MANY GROUPS WITH THIS COMPLAINT. SOME SAY THEIR AUTO DIED WHILE DRIVING OR GEARS WON'T SHIFT RIGHT. WHY NO RECALL?? APPARENTLY IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR FEW YEARS. THEY NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM! I WAS DRIVING AND WHEN WARNING COMES ON THE MPH N STUFF DOESN'T SHOW ON DASH N LIGHTS ARE LIT UP ON GEAR. VERY DISTRACTING!
SERVICE SHIFTER. DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME 1200.00 TO REPAIR. WAS TOLD IT WAS A SHIFTING MODULE IN WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE PROGRAMMED AFTER REPAIR. THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE ON THESE CARS. THIS VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD, AND I WAS TOLD THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL WITHOUT A DOUBT.
DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING, TURN INTO A BUSY ROAD AND MY LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH AND SAID THAT YOU CAN'T SHIFT GEARS WHILE IN MOTION.. OBVIOUSLY I HADN'T DONE THAT.. TOOK 3 MINS JUST TO GET THE CAR TO TURN OFF SINCE EVERYTHING WAS LOCKED UP.. LET IT SIT ONCE OFF, DIDN'T WANT TO START.. DID IT AGAIN AND FINALLY IT STARTED AND THE LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER LIT UP! DO THE RECALL ALREADY! OBVIOUSLY WITH ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS IT'S A JEEP ISSUE, NOT AN OPERATOR ISSUE..
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING. STATIONARY, OR IN MOTION. WARNING CAN'T BE FIXED AND BLOCKS READOUT.
WHILE DRIVING (45-50 MPH) DASHBOARD NOTICE STATES "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER (P,R,N,D) ARE ALL LITE UP. HAD TO STOP, SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTART. AT THIS POINT ALL LIGHTS AND NOTICE WAS REMOVED. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE SAME DAY (AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM 5 MPH TO 60 MPH). REPORTED INFORMATION INDICATES A WIRE HARNESS IS FAULTY AT THE SHIFTER POINT. ADDITIONALLY, THE JEEP IS LOOSING POWER, LIGHTS COME ON AND THE VEHICLE STALLS. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE IT CAN BE RESTARTED, BUT AN INDICATOR NOISE ALERTS TO SOMETHING NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" AUTOMATICALLY POPPED ON WHILE DRIVING ON A PUBLIC STREET. WENT HOME WAS ABLE TO REVERSE AND PARK . TURNED OFF CAR LET IT SIT FOR 2-3 MINS AND IT NO LONGER POPPED ON. DONT THINK IT'S UNDER WARRANTY
THE SPEED CONTROL IN MY CAR WENT WACKO A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. SPED UP FROM 45MPH TO 56MPH. IN THE SHORT SPACE OF TIME IT TOOK FOR THIS TO HAPPEN (1-2 SECONDS, NOT SURE AS I WAS FREAKING OUT...), I APPLIED THE BRAKE - TOO NO AVAIL, THEN I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND THAT WORKED; WHICH WAS GOOD BECAUSE I ALMOST PLOWED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME (ON A NARROW SINGLE LANE ROAD ON A HILL GOING DOWNHILL SO, THERE WAS NO OPTION TO BAIL OUT, IF THERE HAD BEEN TIME TO DO THAT - WHICH THERE WAS NOT. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR 12 DAYS NOW AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX IT. *DT *DT*JB
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING, SHIFTER LIGHTS FROM PRND, WHILE IN DRIVE
FIRST MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID SERVICE AIR BAG SYSTEM. NEXT THE SEAT BELT LIGHT IS ON AND DINGS WHEN SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT EVEN THE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLED. NOW MY TPMS LIGHT IS ON WITHOUT ANY ISSUES WITH THE AIR IN THE TIRES. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE THEY CANT RESOLVE.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE HAS APPEARED MORE THAN ONCE. AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING ALL IS FINE FOR 1200-1500 MILES THEN IT COMES ON AGAIN.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARED ON DASH AND ALL THE PRND LIGHTS TURNED RED WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT IN THE GARAGE. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND ON WITH NO CHANGE. DROVE IT 40 MILES TO WORK AND WHEN I LEFT AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE MESSAGE WAS GONE AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE BACK TO NORMAL.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY COMES ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. IT IS RANDOM AND SEEMS TO BE STARTING TO HAPPEN DAILY. IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN IN MOTION AND HAS HAPPENED ALSO WHEN I JUST STARTED THE VEHICLE AND JUST SITTING.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL RED LIGHTS ON BY MY GEAR SHIFT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. WHEN I STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL FOR ABOUT 30 MILES THEN IT DOES THIS AGAIN. I HAVE READ LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS. IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING I HEAR A NOTIFICATION BING AND THE DASH SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL THE SHIFTER'S INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE SOLID RED. APPARENTLY THIS HAPPENS A LOT AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE ONLY TEMPORARILY RESETS THE COMPUTER TO ACCEPTABLE.
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY JEEP SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP. MY CAR DISPLAY FLASHED THE BATTERY SYMBOL AS WELL AS THE OIL LIFE SYMBOL (OIL LIFE WAS AT 55% ACCORDING TO VEHICLE DISPLAY). IT TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE MY JEEP WOULD START AGAIN. I AM UNSURE IF THE EXACT CAUSE BUT I WOULD ASSUME THAT IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE TO PROTECT THE ENGINE, HOWEVER IT PUT ME IN A SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE EASILY COST ME MY LIFE.
SERVICE SHIFTER INDICATOR DASH LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHILE DRIVING. ALL SHIFTER POSITION INDICATORS ON CONSOLE ILLUMINATES WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE FAILS TO SHIFT PROPERLY.
TAKATA RECALL MY JEEP IS A 2017 AND HAS HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. THE THERMOSTAT SENSOR TO THE TRANSMISSION FEELING LIKE IT CAN'T EVEN SUPPORT THE VEHICLE TO MY RPM GOING ALL THE WAY UP TO 6000 WHEN GOING UP HILL THAT MAKES MY CAR SOUND LIKE IT'S GOING TO BLOW UP NOW MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT IS ON. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY RUN 'UPDATES' THIS DOES NOTHING AT ALL.
THE SHIFTER SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHT UP RED. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN TO SHIFT GEARS. IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES ON A REGULAR BASIS. I'M LISTING THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, BUT IT HAPPENS MORE AND MORE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR THE INDICATOR TO DISAPPEAR; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,300. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
SERVICE SHIFTER CAME ON ONE EVENING AND WENT OFF UPON SHUTTING THE VEHICLE DOWN AND RESTARTING IT. THE NEXT DAY WOTH NO WARNING I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY THREE KIDS. SUDDENLY DASH FLASHED 4X4, TRACTION CONTROL, ERS, AUTO STOP ALL UNAVAILABLE AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION JUST STOPPED FUNCTIONING. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE DOING 70 MPH AND HAD NO POWER WHAT SO EVER. THE RPMS WENT UP AND I HAD NO ACCELERATION WITH THE GAS PEDAL DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SLOW LANE BUT NOT WITHOUT CAUSING A RIFT IN TRAFFIC, THANKFULLY OTHER DRIVERS WERE ALERT AROUND ME AND LET ME OVER ONCE I HIT MY FLASHERS. THE VEHICLE WAS ACTING AS IF IT WAS STUCK BETWEEN GEARS. OT WOULD ENGAGE IN R, N AND P BUT NOTHING WHEN I PUT IT IN D. CALLED A ROLLBACK AND PER DEALERSHIP EVERY CODE THAT COULD THROW HAS THROWN AND AT MY EXPENSE WE ARE STARTING WITH ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY TO THE TUNE OF $900 PARTS AND LABOR. 5 DAYS TO GET PARTS IN! PER SERVICE MANAGER, SERVICE WRITER AND THE MECHANIC WORKING ON MY CAR THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH CHEROKEES & BETTER YET JEEP IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DOESN'T FIND A NEED FOR A RECALL.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING G HOME, I CAN'T SEE MY SPEED.
AT 26,600 MILES (3 MONTHS AGO) MY JEEP STALLED UPON EXECUTING A LEFT TURN. NO PRIOR INDICATION. THE ENGINE JUST STALLED. TOOK 5 TIMES TO RESTART. APPARENTLY, MY OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW WITHOUT VEHICLE INDICATION. OIL CHANGE PRIOR TO THIS FIRST INCIDENT WAS AT 21,676 MILES. NOW AT 28,900 MILES, AND MY VEHICLE STALLED THIS MORNING UPON EXECUTING A LEFT TURN AT 2 SEPARATE TIMES EN ROUTE TO WORK, IN AN INTERSECTION. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE STALLS, THE IN CAB WARNING "DING" OCCURED, ENGINE STALLS, AND THE ENGINE AND BATTERY DASHBOARD INDICATORS ILLUMINATE. IT TAKES PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND 3-5 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. NO PRIOR DRIVER WARNINGS LEADING UP TO THE STALL.
I HAVE A SERVICE LIGHT ON THE READS, SERVICE AIR BAG SYSTEM
SERVICE SHIFTER INDICATOR CAME ON WITH ALL LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHTING IN RED. AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF, THINGS RETURNED TO NORMAL BUT WILL PROBABLY OCCUR AGAIN BASED ON OTHER INTERNET COMMENTS ABOUT THIS JEEP PROBLEM WITH THEIR WIRING HARNESS.

MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH LITTLE UNDER 45,000 STALLED THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE CAR LOST STEERING/BRAKING CONTROL. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND STATED I NEEDED TO SHIFT TO PARK THEN TO DESIRED GEAR. MY JEEP WOULD NOT RUN AT THIS POINT. I HAD TO WAIT A GOOD 5 MINUTES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO ATTEMPT STARTING MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE IT DID NOT START ON THE FIRST 2 TRIES. THE 3RD TIME IT FINALLY STARTED. FURTHERMORE, AFTER LETTING MY VEHICLE SIT AND COOL ONCE I GOT TO MY WORK LOCATION WHICH IS 40 MILES AWAY. I AND ANOTHER CO WORKER CHECKED THE OIL, AND THE OIL BARELY REGISTERED ON THE DIPSTICK. I WILL BE GOING TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN SINCE THE OIL WAS DARK AND SMELLED BURNT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD ISSUED WITH THE JEEP CHEROKEE. THE OTHER INSTANCE ALL THE SHIFTING GEARS ON THE CONSOLE LITE UP AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASH STATED TO SHIFT INTO THE DESIRED GEAR. THIS TOO HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS IS UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST INSTANCE WHEREAS YOU LOSE ALL CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT; HOWEVER, THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED UNTIL 2 WEEKS AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE.

STOPPED VEHICLE, TURNED OFF, RESTARTED, LIGHTS WENT OFF. HAPPENED AGAIN TWICE WHILE PARKING AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH. MULTIPLE REPORTED ISSUES WITH OTHER CHEROKEE'S EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM. NO RECALL NOTICE OR BULLETIN AT DEALER, MAKING ME RESPONSIBLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC
I AM HAVING A MAJOR ISSUE WITH MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE AND ITS SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS ISSUE IS RUNNING RAMPANT NATION WIDE. FURTHERMORE IT SEEMS AS THOUGH FIAT-CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT IT AND IS DOING NOTHING. MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE 2.4L WAS PURCHASED FROM DAN ON 7/17/2017. SINCE THEN, IT HAS BEEN HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS. . IN DOING SO, IT APPARENTLY GETS SO LOW THAT THE ENGINE CUTS OFF MID DRIVING AND I LOSE ALL POWER, STEERING INCLUDED. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE MY 4 AND 2 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THIS STARTED HAPPENING WHEN THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON IT. THERE ARE COUNTLESS FORUMS ONLINE THAT DISCUSS THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP CHEROKEES. CAR IS RUNNING DRIVING AT APPROX 30MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WARNING INDICATORS COME ON AND THE CAR STALLS OUT LOSING ALL POWER INCLUDING STEERING. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO OIL IN THE CAR. WHILE REVIEWING THE ABOVE JEEP FORUMS ONLINE EVERYONE IS PLAGUED BY THIS. THE CAR BURNS ALL THE OIL! NEW CARS SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS ESPECIALLY TO THE EXTENT THAT THERE IS NONE LEFT IN IT!!! I PARK THE CAR IN THE GARAGE SAME SPOT EVERY NIGHT. NOT A DROP ON THE FLOOR

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITH OUT WARNING. START IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR 30-45 SECONDS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO DRIVABILITY ISSUES BEFORE OR AFTER VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS
THE REAR BACK UP CAMERA CUTS OUT WHILE BACKING UP AND GOES TO STATIC.
VEHICLE CAN STOP ABRUPTLY DUE TO LOW OIL AS THIS ENGINE IMPROPERLY BLOWS OIL OUT THE EXHAUST AT A VERY HIGH RATE. OUR VEHICLE BLOWS OUT 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE DEALER HAS BEEN MONITERING THIS PROBLEM SINCE OCTOBER 2019 WHEN I FOUND THE OIL LEVEL WAS DOWN 2 QUARTS. THE DEALER WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR ELEVATE THE PROBLEM TO THE MANUFACTURER. WE ARE LEFT WITH A LEMON. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALER IT HAD 11 MILES AT PURCHASE.THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES A VALVE REPAIR OR A NEW ENGINE.

ONCE ON WON'T GO AWAY UNLESS CAR IS SHUT OFF. CANT SEE SPEED OR OTHER DISPLAYS. HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION OR AT STOP LIGHTS, ON SUBURBAN STREETS. ANY WEATHER . ANY SPEED. MAY BE WEEKS BEFORE IT COMES ON, OR DAYS OR EVEN HOURS. WHEN YOU SHUT OFF CAR SOMETIMES IT GOES AWAY, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. DODGE JEEP DEALER DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT.
DASH BOARD SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON AND ON THE FLOOR SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE ALSO LIT. HAS OCCURRED ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING IN MOTION. I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART. HAS OCCURRED MORE OFTEN RECENTLY. IT IS A DANGEROUS SPECIFIC MOTION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT AN UNKNOWN COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE COMPUTER WAS RESET HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

I HAD THE SHIFTER WIRING HARNESS REPLACED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY APPROX 15 MONTHS AGO. YESTERDAY THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME ON AGAIN RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE BECOMING DISABLED LEAVING MY WIFE AND SON STRANDED. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH WHEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON. ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER TURNED RED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE CAUSING HER TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE IN PARK. AFTER A WHILE SHE WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK BUT SHE WAS UNABLE TO START IT.

AT 26000 MILES "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING CAME. HAPPENED WHEN STARTING ENGINE. ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THESE JEEP MODELS WHICH JEEP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX. COULD CAUSE A FAILURE AND LEAVE YOU STRANDED IN UNTENABLE SITUATION ESPECIALLY IF YOU ELDERLY. APPARENTLY JEEP IS AWARE BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX IT SO THAT IT DOES NOT REPEAT AGAIN IN A FEW THOUSAND MILES.

WAS TOLD BY TECHNICIAN THAT THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF AT ANY TIME IF OIL VOLUME OR PRESSURE IS LOW. NO WARNING ABOUT THIS ON DASHBOARD NOR ON JEEP APP NOR IN OWNERS MANUAL.
