THE PROBLEM IS A SMUDGE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AT EYE LEVEL WHEN THE WIPERS RETURNED TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION. WE REPLACED THE WIPERS FIRST WITH THE MOST EXPENSIVE WE COULD FIND AND THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE SO THAT IS WHEN THE DEALERSHIP BENNY BOYD OF LAMPASIS REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD UNDER WARRANTY. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID BECAME WORSE WITH THE NEW WINDSHIELD AND NOW THERE WERE STREAKS, SO WE BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE EXPENSIVE WIPERS WITH OEM WIPERS AND STILL IT DID THE SAME. WE WERE ADVISED BY OUR SERVICE MANAGER CHRISTOPHER WEIR TO CALL CHRYSLER @ 800-992-1997 AND START A STAR CASE, THE CASE NUMBER IS OR WAS 58366091. THE CASE OPENED AND SUPPOSEDLY LOOKED INTO BY SOME ENGINEERS PER THE CONVERSATION OF THE CASE MANAGER @ CHRYSLER. THE RESPONSE WE RECEIVED BACK FROM THE CASE MANGER WAS THAT IT WAS THE CHARACTERISTIC FOR THIS VEHICLE????? I AM PROVIDING A URL FOR THE JEEP FORUM WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN NOVEMBER 2018 AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS, INCLUDING TODAY, THE RED BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH HAS SPONTANEOUSLY ACTIVATED. MOST OF THE TIME IT OCCURS WHEN I COME TO A STOP LIGHT AND AUTO SHUT OFF KICKS ON, HOWEVER, THIS ISSUE IS VERY SERIOUS SINCE ITS BASICALLY STALLING MY VEHICLE WHILE IN ROUTE, AND IS VERY SCARY SINCE I DRIVE MY CHILD AROUND. I'VE ALSO TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DISHEARTENING.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AND PASSING SEMI-TRUCK TRAILER'S THE 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE HOOD VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY UP AND DOWN (I-70 SPEED LIMIT IS 75 MPH). THE UP AND DOWN HOOD VIBRATION ACTION CAUSES THE A STOP / START MESSAGE TO APPEAR IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAN LEANDRO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT SRT 1444 MARINA BLVD, SAN LEANDRO, CA 94577, TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HOOD SHIMMIED AND SHUDDERED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE HOOD LATCH WOULD DETACH AND IMPACT THE DRIVER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. WATERTOWN FORD CHRYSLER (1600 9TH AVE SE, WATERTOWN, SD 57201, (605) 886-5844) SERVICED THE HOOD BY ADJUSTING VARIOUS KNOBS, WHICH THE CONTACT FELT WAS AN INTERIM REMEDY RATHER THAN A PERMANENT SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO GET A SECOND OPINION. BILLION CHRYSLER, JEEP, LINCOLN, MERCURY, MAZDA (3401 WEST 41ST, SIOUX FALLS, SD 57106, 605-361-1919) INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.

ON 2/28/19 I PURCHASED A 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. ON 4/15 I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED DUE TO LEAK & FAILURE. ON 5/27 I HAD TO HAVE THE DASH INSTRUMENT PANEL REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE, WHICH I HAVE VIDEO RECORD OF. ON 7/10 I HAD TO HAVE THE PARK SENSOR REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE & THE VEHICLE THROWING ITSELF INTO PARK INSTRUCTING ME THAT DOOR WAS AJAR WHEN IT WASN'T. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DOING 70MPH ON THE FREEWAY. MY VIN IS NOT SHOWING IN ANY OF THE RECALLS, HOWEVER THREE RECALLS PERTAIN TO ME. SO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO TO MAKE PPL AWARE OF THESE RECALLS. MY VIN NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE LIST. I HAVE ALL REPAIR REPORTS NEEDED TO PROVE MY VEHICLE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE REPETITIVELY ASKED JEEP TO PLACE ME IN A SAFER MORE RELIABLE VEHICLE AND THEY REFUSE TO RETURN MY CALLS OR ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY, STATING THAT 'THIS IS WHY WE HAVE WARRANTIES' SOMEONE NEEDS TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS ISSUE. MY TRANSMISSION BEGAN LEAKING BADLY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ONLY DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THEN MY DASH'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED CAUSING IT TO ONLY COME ON SOMETIMES AND NOT REACT TO TOUCHSCREEN, THEN MY START STOP SENSOR FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO REGISTER THAT IT WAS NOT IN PARK AND SOME TIMES PUTTING ITSELF INTO PARK UNTIL REGISTERING.
SINCE THE DAY I PICKED UP THIS 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED TWO WEEKS AGO, THE HOOD SHAKES AND FLUTTERS IN CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS CAUSING SAFETY CONCERNS. DRIVING INTO HIGH WINDS AND OVER 55 MPH, AIR GETS UNDER THE HOOD IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT SEEMS AS IF THE HOOD COULD BREAK LOOSE CAUSING EITHER INJURIES OR AN ACCIDENT. IT GETS EVEN WORSE WHEN DRIVING IN SIDE WINDS AND MEETING SEMI TRUCKS. IT ACTUALLY APPEARS THAT THE GUST OF WIND COMING OFF THE TRUCK IS GOING TO TAKE THE HOOD OFF OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVING THIS CHEROKEE IN THESE CONDITIONS HAS PERSONALLY CAUSED ME VERY HIGH ANXIETY TO THE POINT WHERE I AM CONSTANTLY FOCUSED ON THE HOOD RATHER THAN THE ROAD. WHEN MEETING SEMI TRUCKS ON THE HIGHWAY, I PULL AS FAR TO THE RIGHT AS POSSIBLE SOMETIMES COMPLETELY GOING OFF THE ROAD IN AN ATTEMPT TO MINIMIZE THE WIND GUST. THESE ARE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS TO ME AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON PUBLIC ROADS. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO TAKE ANTI ANXIETY MEDICATION JUST TO GET THE COURAGE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY, THUS CAUSING OTHER SAFETY ISSUES AND FEELING AS IF I'M BEING AN IRRESPONSIBLE DRIVER. THE JEEP DEALER HAS ADJUSTED THE HOOD LATCH AND BUMPERS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS JUST AS IT DID WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE.
I WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC CIRCLE AND HAD TO YIELD. I NEVER CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, BUT WAS TRAVELING AROUND 5MPH. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO CONTINUE ON THE CIRCLEAND MY CAR STALLED. I WAS ALMOST SIDE SWIPED DUE TO MY VEHICLE ENTERING THE CIRCLE AND NOT ACCELERATING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN COMING TO A YIELD AREA. MY COUNTY HAS OVER 150 TRAFFIC CIRCLES WITH YIELD SIGNS. THIS WILL BE DANGEROUS WITH THIS HAPPENING FREQUENTLY. I AM MARKING THIS AS OCCURING 4/11/19 BECAUSE IT WAS VERY BAD THAT OCCASION. IT MADE ME THINK OF THE TIMES IT HASN'T BEEN AS NOTICEABLE IN THE PAST THOUGH.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD INTO A CERTAIN GEAR, 3RD TO BE EXACT. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FALL OUT. THEN WHEN I HAVE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND ITS SET AT 70 GOING DOWN A HILL AND THE ENGINE REVS THE RPMS PAST 5 TO SLOW DOWN WHICH IT NEVER DOES UNTIL I USE MY BRAKES TO SHOW DOWN. THE CAR IS IN MOTION, BUT ON 9/5/2020 THE CLUNK SOUND DID IT 4 OR 5 TIMES THAT DAY AND I HAD THE AIR ON. STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT TO THE STORE TO GRAB THINGS, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON. GET HOME ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY FROM THE STORE AND WENT TO PUT IN REVERSE AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THEN PUT IT INTO PARK AND BACK INTO REVERSE THEN IN COULD MOVE THE VEHICLE
2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ILLUMINATED AUTO STOP START LIGHT. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ADVISED NOT TO RUN THE A/C ON HIGH DUE TO THE BATTERY NOT HAVING ENOUGH VOLTAGE. *JS
AM RADIO MUFFLES ON OCCASION. I HAVE THE ALPINE RADIO SYSTEM WITH SURROUND SOUND. IT ALSO HAS SIRIUS RADIO WHICH IS NOT BEING SUBSCRIBED TO. IT HAS BEEN NOTICEABLE WHEN CAR GOES UNDER AN OVERPASS BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED AT OTHER TIMES. SEEMINGLY WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS. HAVE NOT NOTICED THIS ON FM.
RADIO VOLUME CONTROL ISSUES. VOLUME FADES IN AND OUT SPORADICALLY. HAPPENS ANYTIME. THIS MAKES RADIO UN-USABLE.
WHEN MY VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, DRIVING THROUGH CITY STREETS, AND I TRY TO APPLY THE BREAK IT ACCELERATES INSTEAD. THE RPM'S WILL REACH 4000 OR 5000 AND HOLD THERE. I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSTLER TO APPLY THE GAS QUICKLY THEN BREAK WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO STOP MY VEHICLE. THIS IS UNSAFE AND I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE IN MY OWN CAR. I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AT TIMES, AND THE RADIO FADES IN AND OUT, WITH THAT FEATURE TURNED OFF, AS WELL AS SHUTTING COMPLETELY DOWN AND RESETTING ITSELF. PRIOR TO THE RECALL IN NOV OF 2018 THIS SAME VEHICLE FROM ONE WEEK OF PURCHASE WOULD STALL WHILE I WAS DRIVING THROUGH CITY STREETS. ALL OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN AT A SPEED OF 35 OR LESS. THE CAR WENT FROM STALLING TO AFTER RECALL UPDATE IT IS NOW ACCELERATING WHEN TRYING TO STOP. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE AND CHRYSTLER EITHER SO THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY OWN CAR. I AM WORRIED THERE WILL BE A TIME I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
AS I AM DRIVING THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR STARTS TO STALL AND I AM PROMPTED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AS THE D IS BLINKING AS IS THE BATTERY LIGHT. I HAVE TO TURN MY CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT TAKES A MINUTE TO TURN ON THEN IT GOES. MY BATTERY IS AT ITS HALFWAY MARK PER THE VEHICLE INFO ON THE CAR. THEN WHEN I TURN CORNERS MY CAR BEEPS AND THE SPEEDOMETER WORD APPEARS ABOVE THE SPEED.
ISSUE STARTED AT 3,500 MILES. WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN A CHIME WOULD GO OFF AND THE BATTERY OR ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, THE D FOR DRIVE WOULD FLASH ON THE CONSOLE, AND VEHICLE WAS BASICALLY STALLED. TRYING TO ACCELERATE DID NOTHING. HAD TO TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS LOW ON OIL AND CAR WENT INTO SELF-PRESERVATION MODE. HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE I HIT 7,500 MILES. DEALER KEPT ADDING OIL EACH TIME. WAS TOLD THIS ENGINE HAD A HARDER THAN NORMAL BREAK IN PERIOD UP TO 7,500 MILES. WAS TOLD TO COME BACK FOR OIL CHANGE IN ANOTHER 5,000 MILES. OIL WAS CHECKED AT 1,000 AND 2,000 MILES AND WAS NOT LOW. AT 4,100 MILES THE ISSUE STARTED AGAIN AND HAPPENED THREE TIMES DRIVING TO WORK AND THEN ONCE GOING TO THE DEALER. THE JEEP IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP.
VISIBILITY DISTORTED IN RAINY CONDITIONS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND OR COATING ON GLASS. VISIBILITY DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WHEN DRIVING GETS DISTORTED WITH MINIMAL RAINFALL CAUSING A DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION. USING NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS IS BETTER THAN HAVING THEM ON. ISSUE OCCURRED SINCE DATE OF DELIVERY (11/30/2018) AND BECAME MORE NOTICEABLE RECENTLY DUE TO WEATHER CHANGES. ISSUE OCCURS BOTH WHEN IN MOTION OR STAND STILL ON ALL ROAD TYPES.
FOR THE THIRD TIME, THE VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT STARTS COASTING AND THE MOTOR RUNS BUT DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL HAS NO EFFECT. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, WE WERE ON A CURVING MOUNTAIN ROAD AND ALMOST GOT RUN OVER BY AN 18 WHEELER. THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX. THIS HAS TO STOP, BRAND NEW CAR STALLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EACH TIME WE WERE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MULTIPLE LIGHTS COME ON THE DASHBOARD, SEE ATTACHED PHOTO.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while at a complete stop. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a power transfer unit failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to a unknown NHTSA Campaign Number. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
ON MARCH 29, 2019 AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND WAS APPROACHING THIS INTERSECTION, THE LIGHT CHANGED TO YELLOW. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES SO THAT I COULD STOP FOR THE LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP FOR THE LIGHT WHICH TURNED RED FOR ME BY NOW AND I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MILE AN HOUR. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS POSITIONED ON THE FLOOR. AS I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO GO THROUGH THE RED LIGHT, I KEPT MY HAND ON THE HORN TO TRY AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THERE WERE CARS STARTING TO GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, THE CLOSEST CAR ALMOST HIT MY PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. BETWEEN THAT CAR STOPPING SHORT, AND ME STEERING AROUND THEM, SERIOUS INJURY AND OR DEATH WAS AVOIDED, AFTER I PAST THE INTERSECTION I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND EASED ON THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP MY BRAND-NEW 2019 JEEP, AND THEN PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. BY THIS POINT I WAS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL NERVOUS WRECK. HOW COULD MY BRAND NEW 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE PLUS THAT I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR THIRTEEN DAYS HAVE BRAKE FAILURE? I HAVE DRIVING FOR 45 YEARS AND NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN. I WAS A LITTLE OVER TWO MILES AWAY FROM WORK WITH NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. SO I STARTED THE CAR UP (STILL SHAKING LIKE A LEAF) WITH THE INTENTION OF DRIVING VERY SLOWLY AND USING THE PARKING BRAKE TO GET TO WORK. TO MY SURPRISE THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AND I MADE IT TO WORK STILL SHAKY AND SCARED TO BE IN THE CAR LET ALONE DRIVING IN IT. GOD WAS WITH ME THROUGH THIS TO BE ABLE TO AVOID ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE LED TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. ON MY DRIVE IN I HAVE SEVERAL INTERSECTIONS THAT ARE MAJOR HIGHWAYS THAT TRACTOR TRAILERS USE. I HAVE TO WORRY THAT WHAT IF THE BRAKES GO OUT AT ONE OF THESE INTERSECTIONS?
MARCH 2019 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN GOING ABOUT 4-6 MPH ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY, WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN MY VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE I WAS TURNING ONTO. ALL THE DASH LIGHTS TURNED ON. I PLACED THE VEHICLE QUICKLY IN PARK , RESTARTED THE VEHICLE , PLACED IT IN GEAR AND HURRIED TO GET OUT OF THE LANE OF TRAVEL. I THEN NOTICED A WARNING LIGHT , IT'S THE AUTO STOP START SYMBOL WITH A CIRCLE AROUND THE A WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT NEAR TO THE MILEAGE AREA. THANKFULLY I TOOK A PICTURE OF THIS ERROR. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO NAPLETON AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE A BATTERY ISSUE OR THE OIL IN THE VEHICLE WAS LOW. THE BEST THING ABOUT THE ERROR SIGN IS, THAT IT CLEARS AFTER YOU SHUT YOUR VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT. EVEN AFTER SHOWING THE PICTURE OF THE ERROR THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. STATED THE VEHICLES SYSTEM IS NOT SHOWING ANY ERROR CODES WHEN THEY PLUG IN THEIR CODE BOX. IT'S BEEN ALREADY 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE STALLS WHILE TURNING OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD. I GUESS CHRYSLER WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE THEY ARE HAVING WITH THESE VEHICLE UNTIL SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE AND THEY GET SUED FOR DAMAGES. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH A STALLING PROBLEMS A NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 5000 MILES.
THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE UCONNECT SCREEN FADES IN AND OUT TO TOTAL BLACKNESS. YOU CANNOT READ ANYTHING. THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE ANY OF THE SETTINGS. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF, START IT AGAIN TO GET THE SCREEN TO COME ON. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND HAVE TO GUESS WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE SCREEN. THE RADIO DOES NOT WORK RIGHT. I FOLLOWED THE OWNER'S MANUAL TO RESET THE UCONNECT SYSTEM USING THE UCONNECT MENU RESET BUTTON. THAT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I CANNOT TRUST THE CAR OR THE SCREEN IN THE UCONNECT SYSTEM. THE SECOND ISSUE AND IT IS A BIG ONE! THE CAR STALLS WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR! I TRIED TO PASS A CAR, AND STEPPED DOWN TO ACCELERATE AND THE JEEP STALLED! I ALMOST WRECKED! WHEN YOU STEP DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. I AM NOT A MECHANIC, SO I DO NOT KNOW IF ALL OF THIS IS ELECTRICAL, OR ENGINE RELATED. THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM.
