THE FIRST PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN GOING DOWN A DRIVE AND STOP AT THE END THE CAR WILL SHIFT FROM DRIVE AND THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF THE SECOND PROBLEM IS THE CAR WILL SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO 3RD GEAR AND STICK I HAVE HAD IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM
AFTER HAVING THE N23 RECALL PERFORMED ON MY JEEP, I COULDN'T SHIFT INTO 4LO, AND WHEN I TRIED I GOT A SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM MESSAGE. AFTER 2 MORE TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO REDO THE RECALL, WITH THE SAME RESULT, MY DEALER DETERMINED I HAD A BAD TRANSFER CASE ACTUATOR. AT FIRST THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR A NEW ONE, BUT I POINTED OUT THAT I STILL HAD THE 100,000 MILE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. THEY DID REPLACE THE ACTUATOR UNDER WARRANTY. SO FAR EVERYTHING IS OK. I USE 4LO ABOUT ONCE PER WEEK TO CHECK IF IT STILL WORKS. THE RECALL SEEMS TO DO SOMETHING TO THE ACTUATORS. ALL WAS FINE TILL I HAD THE RECALL (RE FLASH) PERFORMED. OTHERS HAVE STILL HAD ISSUES AFTER RECEIVING NEW ACTUATORS. ALSO, OTHERS HAVE BEEN FORCED TO PAY FOR THE ACTUATORS EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE OK PRIOR TO GETTING THE RECALL DONE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG A SECONDARY ROAD AT NIGHT, THE HEAD LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OFF SUDDENLY WITH OUT WARNING FLICKERING ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE COMING BACK ON.THIS HAS REPEATED IT SELF SEVERAL TIMES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLICKERED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE STARTER AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE HORN ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED AND A TUNE UP WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHILE MAKING A TURN AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLICKERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE SOLENOID STARTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE AND TIRE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE AN UNKNOWN HOSE AND THE WATER PUMP WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
P41 RECALL. BEFORE RECALL MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN NUMEROUS TIMES. THIS RESULTED IN ENGINE SHUT DOWN, NO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ETC. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES. I GET THE SAME RESPONSE, PART NOT AVAILABLE. WHY? I AM TOLD THE SUPPLIER DOES NOT HAVE PART. WHY NOT?. THIS IS AN OLD RECALL, HOWEVER CHRYSLER IS REPAIRING OR BUYING BACK NEWER MODELS OF VEHICLES DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN. 2006 JEEP COMMANDER RECALL IS JUST AS SERIOUS AS NEWER RECALLS. THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH RESULTS IN ENTIRE SHUT DOWN OF JEEP, INCLUDING AIR BAGS. I WAS TOLD TO ADJUST SEAT SO THAT KNEE DOES NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH KEYS IN IGNITION. WHAT? I SUGGEST THAT VEHICLES WITH FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH BE A PART OF THE CHRYSLER BUY BACK OR REPAIR IMMEDIATELY. ALSO, TO AVOID FURTHER SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATH RESULTING FORM FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELTS FAILED LATCH PROPERLY. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BECAME FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE SEAT BELTS AND THE DOOR HANDLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
SEPT 7 THE ENGINE JUST CUT OUT OF GEAR AND STOPPED RUNNING HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE BEING HIT FROM BEHIND AS IT STALLED.PULLED OVER SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS FIRM...DROVE A FEW MILES AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. THE SAME THING JUST HAPPENED AGAIN ON I-95 IN BALTIMORE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS FIRM...DROVE A FEW MILES AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. *TR
IT SADDENS ME TO WRITE THIS LETTER CONCERNING THE POOR SERVICE I RECEIVED ON MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AT ONE OF YOUR DEALERSHIPS. I PURCHASED THE CAR LAST NOVEMBER IN MANASSAS, VA, AND THE CAR RAN GREAT UP UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO, WHEN ALL OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND THEN THE CAR WOULD ABRUPTLY SHUT-OFF. THIS BEHAVIOR WENT ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (DARCARS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF NEW CARROLLTON) LOCATED AT X YOUR JEEP SERVICE CENTER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE PCM ASSEMBLY WHICH COST ABOUT 800.00, AND WAS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. AFTER NEGOTIATING WITH THE GWC WARRANTY COMPANY, THEY AGREED TO PAY HALF, WHICH WAS 500.00 AND WE PAID THE BALANCE OF 577.00. AFTER AUTHORIZING THE REPAIR, I WAS CALLED ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 17TH TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE. IRONICALLY, WHEN I GOT IN THE VEHICLE, IT WOULDN'T START., SO THE MECHANIC HAD TO GIVE ME A JUMP. AFTER HAVING THE CAR HOME FOR A FEW DAYS, THE PROBLEM RE-APPEARED AGAIN. THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS! I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE CENTER MANAGER, LEO, TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK. THIS TIME I REQUESTED A RENTAL CAR SO I COULD CONTINUE TO GO TO WORK WHILE THEY DIAGNOSE MY CAR AGAIN. THEY KEPT MY CARE THROUGH THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY AND INFORMED ME IT WAS MY BATTERY. THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY UNTIL THEY STARTED WORKING ON THE CAR, SO I HAD TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL 277.00 (INCLUDING CAR RENTAL CHARGES) FOR A NEW BATTERY. I PICKED UP THE CAR YESTERDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2013, AND THIS MORNING, I BROUGHT MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN! I AM BEYOND UPSET AND FRUSTRATED. I HAVE SPENT OVER 800.00, AND MY CAR IS STILL NOT RELIABLE.

YEARS LATER, A RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, WHICH WAS LONGER THAN A YEAR. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WIHILE WAITING FOR THE RECALL REPAIR PART. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WONT LATCH. I HAVE TO HOLD DOWN THE RED RELEASE BUTTON TO FORCE IT TO ENGAGE. SEVEN DAYS LATER THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULDN'T LATCH. THIS TIME EVEN IF I FORCE THE LATCH TO ENGAGE BY HOLDING DOWN THE RED RELEASE TAB, IT DOES NOT TURN OFF THE SEAT BELT WARNING ALARM. THIS MOST CERTAINLY IS A RECALL ITEM AND SO MANY OF US ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AT THE SAME TIME. I AM GOING TO REPORT ALSO TO DAIMLER/CHRYSLER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000. MY VEHICLE PAINT IS "SPIDERING" AND CRACKING ON THE HOOD. YOU WOULDN'T THINK THIS COULD HAPPEN SINCE IT SAT IN A GARAGE FOR ALMOST A YEAR WHILE I WAS DEPLOYED, I WAX IT RELIGIOUSLY AND IT IS USED VERY LITTLE. WHEN TALKING TO THE JEEP DEALER, THEY MAKE IT SOUND LIKE IT IS ACCEPTABLE WEAR AND TEAR. I THINK THERE IS A FLAW IN THE PAINT USED FOR THAT SPECIFIC YEAR AND POSSIBLY MANUFACTURING LOCATION. *TR
HAD THE N23 RECALL AND AFTER WORDS THE 4 LO WILL NOT WORK TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND A CODE C140F CLEARED THE CODE AND WORKED ONCE AND GOT THE SERVICE 4LO SYSTEM . CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SEED THIS IS THE FIRST THAT THEY HEADER OF IT AND THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP MADE A APPOINTMENT TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY SEED THAT THE ACTUATOR WENT OUT BUT IT WORKED BEFORE THE N23 WAS DONE AND THAT TIME THEY CHARGED ME AND IT STILL DOSE NOT WORK THEY WON'T ME TO BUY A NEW ACTUATOR BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE CHRYSLER THAT SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ACTUATOR. *TR
MY JEEP HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WHERE I WILL BE DRIVING AND SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM COMES ON DASH BOARD AND ON THE PRND BOXES COME AROUND IT AND THE CAR STALES. IF I TRY TO GO THE CAR WON'T GO BUT RPM GO UP. THE ONLY WAY I GO IS I TO PUT IT IN PARK THEN BACK IN DRIVE MANY TIMES I HAVE TO PUT HAZARD LIGHTS ON SO THAT I DON'T GET REAR ENDED. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU GO INTO DRIVE IT WILL JERK AND THEN YOU WILL SEE THE BOXES AROUND THE PRND THAT'S WHEN I HAVE TO SHIFT BACK INTO PARK WAIT FOR BOXES TO GO OFF THEN DRIVE. THERE IS ALSO ORANGE LIGHT ON DASH THAT COMES ON. TOOK TO REPAIR SHOP AND CODE WAS READING U0404. THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE AND DOING IT ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I HAVE 6 MONTH OLD BABY AND 4 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, DASHBOARD LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER OFF AND ON AND STEERING VEHICLE INTO A LEFT TURN WAS HARD TO DO. TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS ADVISED THAT PROBLEM IS A ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL ISSUE, THE MODULE IS DEFECTIVE AND MANUFACTURER HAS NOT IDENTIFIED A FIX. WAS TOLD I COULD PURCHASE A NEW MODULE, APPROX. $400.00 FOR INSTALL, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. LIGHTENING CONTINUES TO FLICKER APPROXIMATELY 3 - 4 TIMES PER MONTH. ABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE, BUT CONFIDENCE IN JEEP AUTOS IS SHAKEN. MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THIS USED 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 1 WEEK AGO. THE VEHICLE IS IN GREAT CONDITION, NO PREVIOUS ACCIDENTS, NO ENGINE LIGHTS/ERROR CODES. ON THE 2ND DAY OF OWNING THE JEEP I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST STALL, AND SINCE THEN 4 MORE STALLS. THERE IS NO ENGINE LIGHTS, ERROR CODES, ETC. THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE 100% OKAY, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAS JUST SHUT OFF 4 TIMES LOSING BRAKES, STEERING, LIGHTS, ETC - WHETHER I AM MOVING OR AT A STOP. AT FIRST I THOUGHT "I MUST HAVE BOUGHT A LEMON" BUT I HAVE BEEN READING THROUGH SEVERAL FORUMS AND BLOGS THAT THERE ARE 100'S IF NOT 1,000'S OF PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 5.7L HEMI COMMANDER, AND SOME OF THE BLOGS DATE BACK TO 2006 WHEN THESE VEHICLES WERE BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN A THOUSAND MILES ON THEM. ONE PERSON ACTUALLY SUFFERED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE - LOSING CONTROL OF STEERING AND BRAKES. BECAUSE THEIR IS NO ENGINE CODES OR LIGHTS DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT ASSESSING THE ISSUE AT ALL OR ARE JUST THROWING PARTS AT IT HOPING IT IS FIXED AND CHARGING THE CUSTOMER A BOAT LOAD OF MONEY. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE IDENTIFIED THAT THE ISSUE POTENTIALLY RESIDES IN THE PCM AND THE IGNITION COILS, SOME SAY THAT THE COILS PUT OF AN EM INTERFERENCE THAT IS DISRUPTING THE PCM. REGARDLESS - CHRYSLER NEEDS TO GET THIS FIXED SO NO ONE ELSE GETS HURT, OR KILLED. *TR
AS I HAVE NOW READ ONLINE OF HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM... I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HWY AT 70 MPH, THE ENGINE JUST QUIT ON MY AND EVERYTHING SHUTDOWN. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR TO THE SIDE (WITHOUT AND POWER STEERING) AND STOP COMPLETELY, TAKE OUT THE KEY, REINSERT IT AND IT STARTED UP. NO PROBLEMS AFTER THAT UNTIL I WAS DRIVING THE HWY AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER AND IT DID IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS. I HAVE NOW TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (WOLFCHASE JEEP IN GERMANTOWN, TN) AND THEY ARE REPLACING THE MAP SENSOR AND A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS - INCLUDING A MANIFOLD GASKET - FOR A TOTAL OF $1000. INTERESTINGLY WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE REP. IF JEEP HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS, HE DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF SUCH A PROBLEM! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAD THE JEEP N23 RECALL DONE LAST AUGUST ON MY COMMANDER. AFTERWARDS I HAD A SERVICE LIGHT AND 4WD LO DIDN'T ENGAGE. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO REDO THE RECALL 2 MORE VISITS. AFTERWARD THE LAST RECALL ATTEMPT MY DEALER CHANGED THE T/CASE ACTUATOR. THIS FIXED IT FOR 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE PROBLEM RETURNED. WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES, AND THEY SHOULD WORK AS THEY DID WHEN WE BOUGHT THEM. JEEP DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEMS. *TR
IGNITION SWITCH DEFECTIVE. IT MOVED FROM RUN TO ACC WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A ONRAMP GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. IT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE JUST LIKE THE DEFECTIVE GM SWITCH DID. IT WAS ATTACHED TO OTHER KEYS AND MAY HAVE BEEN BUMPED BY KNEE DURING TURN. *TR
A COUPLE YEARS AGO I GOT THE N23 RECALL ON MY TRUCK AND AFTER THAT MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW WILL NO LONGER WORK. THEN GOT THE P73 TO REPROGRAM THE CONTROL MODULE BUT IT STILL DON'T WORK AND DISPLAYS ON MY DASH 'SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE'.
DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES BEGAN FLICKERING AND ON / OFF. EVENTUALLY OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS, ALL VEHICLE LIGHTS BEGAN OCCASIONAL GOING ON AND OFF COMPLETELY. THIS INCLUDED HEAD LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS. BEGAN DOING THIS MORE AND MORE OFTEN. DO A LOT OF MECHANICAL WORK MYSELF. SAW THAT THIS WAS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS AS REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. CAUSE WAS A FAULTY LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH ON THE STEERING COLUMN. BOUGHT A NEW CONTROL ARM/SWITCH FOR ABOUT $130. AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE REPAIRED NOW. SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THESE SWITCHES IN LOSING ALL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. HAVE CHECKED AROUND AND DO NOT SEE ANY RECALL AS OF YET FOR THIS PROBLEM.

CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT THE SEATBELT IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE MOST EFFECTIVE SAFETY DEVICE OF ANY VEHICLE I CAN NOT IMAGINE JEEP NOT PUTTING OUT A RECALL FOR THE SAFETY OF ITS CONSUMERS. I UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF WARRANTY ON A VEHICLES ENGINE, BUT A SEATBELT IS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD THINK NEEDS REPLACEMENT. NOT EVERYONE HAS MONEY TO PAY FOR THIS FIX, NOR SHOULD THEY BE ASKED TO PAY FOR THIS SERIOUS DEFECT THAT COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. I LOVE MY VEHICLE I JUST EXPECT MORE CONCERN FROM THE COMPANY THAT MADE IT. *TR
AS I WAS CONING TO A STOP MY CAR DIED THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ALL WHILE COMING TO A STOP. I COULD HEAR A CLICKING NOISE AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD JUST TURN OFF. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. *TR ITS VERY SCARY TO THINK MY CAR TURNS OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC BUT FOUND NOTHING NOW MY NAVIGATION DISPLAY IN THE RADIO COMES AND GOES TO A BLANK SCREEN. I ASSUME IT IS ALL CONNECTED SINCE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ALL RELATED. WHAT NEXT?
