I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AS SOON AS I GOT TO ABOUT 30 IT DIED. I HAS TO QUICKLY MOVE OVER AND STOP AND START AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE. JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE A RECALL BUT NOT ON MY JEEP. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN THE RAIN THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ENGINE WAS IDLING THE RPM'S WOULD ERRONIOUSLY INCREASE TO 2200 WITHOUT THE THROTTLE PEDAL BEING PRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 JFT
2007 JEEP COMMANDER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HER HUSBAND WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, WHERE HE WAS HIT BY A TRAIN IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD WHILE CROSSING A RAILROAD TRACK. THE TRAIN STRUCK THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE TRAIN DRAGGED THE VEHICLE ABOUT 100 FEET AND THEN FLIPPED IT OVER ON ITS ROOF ONTO THE STREET.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRAGGED UNTIL THE TRAIN WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE EYE AND HEAD, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE BUT NONE COULD BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AT 65MPH MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, A MESSAGE STATING "SERVICE PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM" APPEARED, AND DRNP WAS BLOCKED ON THE FRONT DASH. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ACCELERATION AND BEGAN TO FEEL AS IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED AT FULL FORCE. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. ONLINE RESEARCH SUGGESTS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM INVOLVING THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTING MODULE AND/OR CONNECTION ISSUES WITH THE REAR PARKING ASSIST SENSORS. THIS PERVASIVE PROBLEM SHOULD BE RECTIFIED WITH A RECALL AT NO COST TO CUSTOMERS. *TR
JUST PURCHASED USED 2007 COMMANDER SPORT V6 AT 58458 MILES... DROVE IT ON VACATION FROM DETROIT TO WILMINGTON, NC APPROX. 900 MILES. TRIP WENT WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL WE DROVE DOWN TO SEE THE OCEAN TURNED OFF THE CAR, WALKED ALONG THE BEACH FOR ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR, CAME BACK TO THE CAR, TURNED THE IGNITION AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. HOWEVER, ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SEEM TO BE FUNCTIONING EXCEPT THE STARTER. AT THE DEALER NOW AND WAITING TO SEE WHAT THEY TELL ME. I SPENT 25 PLUS YEARS WORKING IN DEALERSHIPS, MOSTLY CHRYSLER, NOT AS A MECHANIC BUT I HAD MY FAIR SHARE OF EXPOSURE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SIGNED, STRANDED IN NC *TR
VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. WARNING ON DASH STATES "SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM". *TR
CAR SUDDENLY WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 30 MPH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION SHIFT MODULE. WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER IT BECAUSE IT WAS EXTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION. 6 WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, DEALER SAID IT WAS A BAD GROUND. 1 YEAR AND 5 DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A FIRMWARE UPGRADE WHICH THEY PERFORMED. 1 WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME ON THE FREEWAY. ERROR INDICATED IMPROPER GEAR RATIO SELECTED. *TR
THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN AND THE SERVICE PARK LIGHT WILL POP ON THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN INTO THE SHOP PLENTY OF TIMES AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. IT HAS DONE THIS ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 75 MILES AN HOUR. I HAVE HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAIT LIKE 5 MINUTES BEFORE I CAN TAKE OFF AGAIN. THIS IS REALLY BECOMING A PROBLEM AND I AM AFRAID TO EVEN PUT MY GRANDBABY IN THE CAR WITH ME BECAUSE I'M AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR THEM TO CHECK MY CAR AND I HAVE BEEN TELLING THEM THIS ISSUE FROM THE DAY I HAD MY CAR AND MY WARRANTY WAS STILL IN PLACE, BUT THEY CONTINUED TO TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE CAR HAS BEEN STALLING OVER THE PAST 4 MONTHS. NORMALLY THE STALLING HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS IDLING. LAST WEEK THE CAR DID THE SAME THING BUT AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE OF SPEED (60 MPH). THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I LOST POWER STEERING. MULTIPLE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN COMING IN THE DASH OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND MY AUTOMATIC WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. ALSO, MY AUTOMATIC GATE OPENER SOMETIMES JUST WILL NOT WORK. THERE ARE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH 2006 AND 2008 VEHICLES AND BOTH OF THOSE HAVE RECALLS, BUT I NOTICED THAT THE 2007 DOES NOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING AT 55 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED THEN THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT FAILED TO EXCEED 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 49,224.
THE COMMANDER WAS SLUGGISH ON A TRIP TO FLORIDA, WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, IT WOULD HESITATE AND SPUTTER. THE MONTH BEFORE THIS TRIP, I JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED AT 60K TO KEEP THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY INTACT. SO FIGURED SOMETHING WAS DONE INCORRECTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WOULD DEAL WITH IT WHEN WE RETURNED HOME. I WISH WE WOULD HAVE FOUND A REPAIR SHOP IN FL TO LOOK INTO IT AS THE JEEP TURNED OFF ON US GOING 74 MPH ON I-95. WE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. WE DROVE 65 THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AND IT WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY READ THE CODE AND CLEARED THE CODE LIKE THEY DID PREVIOUSLY WHEN IT WOULD DO A HARD DOWNSHIFT WITH A LOVELY CLUNK WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THIS FIXED THE ISSUE UNTIL WE WERE COMING BACK FROM A FOUR HOUR TRIP AND THE LURCHING FORWARD WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE STARTED AGAIN. IT CUT OFF, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED LIT, AS WELL AS THE PARK ASSIST. LIKE BEFORE WE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL SENSOR AND SHELLED OUT $750 TO GET IT FIXED. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS SUV AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE HAPPEN TO ANY OF THE 20 CARS WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED. PLEASE LOOK INTO WHY THIS IS OCCURRING BECAUSE IF SOMEONE DIES DUE TO BEING REAR ENDED WHEN IT CUTS OFF, A LAWSUIT WILL BE IMMINENT. THANK YOU *TR
WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, OR REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE ENGINE STALLS AND IT TAKES ALMOST A MINUTE FOR THE SHIFT TO ACTUALLY OCCUR SO I CAN DRIVE. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES IN THE TWO YEARS I'VE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP THE MECHANICS SAY THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO CANNOT FIX IT. FIRST THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND NO CODES WILL APPEAR WHEN RUN. A COUPLE DAYS LATER (MOSTLY WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OR ANY SPEED ABOVE 30MPH) I WILL BE DRIVING AS USUAL AND BEGIN TO INCREASE SPEED ON THE ON RAMP FOR THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE WILL TAP OUT AT 45MPH. I WILL PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT REV AND THE RPM'S WILL NOT INCREASE. I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE AND NOTHING CHANGED WITH THE ENGINE. ALL THE WHILE I HAD MY ONE YEAR OLD CHILD IN THE CAR WITH ME. EVERY TIME I TRY TO RESEARCH WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY JEEP I JUST SEE THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY! I DON'T CARE IF THEY HAVE TO GIVE ME A NEW JEEP I NEED SOMETHING SAFE FOR MY FAMILY! *TR
IT IS CURRENTLY STALLING, WHILE SITTING AT STREET LIGHTS. ALSO, THE GEAR SHIFT MODEL INCLUDING STARTER AND WIRING. *TR
AFTER STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS OR AWAITING TRAFFIC TO CLEAR IN ORDER TO MAKE TURNS, THE ENGINE STALLS BUT WILL RE-FIRE AFTER PLACING TRANSMISSION IN PARK OR NEUTRAL AND TURNING THE IGNITION KEY. (I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER THAT THE PROBLEM BEGAN DURING THE SUMMER OF 2012, RESULTING IN THE TRADE-IN BECAUSE TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. DEALERS REPLACED THE FOLLOWING: MAP SENSOR, CAM AND CRANK SENSOR, EGR VALVE, CLEANED THROTTLE BODY, REPLACED THE PCM, SPARK PLUGS, REPLACED AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE, REPLACED BATTERY. NONE OF THE ABOVE HAVE FIXED THE STALLING PROBLEM WHICH COULD GET ONE KILLED IN TRAFFIC.) *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS KNEE ENCOUNTERED THE IGNITION KEY CAUSING IT TO RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE TO STALL. ON ONE OCCASION, THE FAILURE CAUSED A MINOR CRASH BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE ON THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE RPMS INCREASED AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE BUT THE ENGINE FAILED TO START THE SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I'VE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY 07 JEEP COMMANDER ILL BE DRIVING ON ROAD AND FOR NO REASON IT WILL JUST TURN OFF THIS IM MY PRIMARY CAR AND I HAVE A NEW BORN BABY I WOULD HATE TO GET A PHONE CALL THAT THEY HAVE BEEN IN A ACCIDENT THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS RIGHT AWAY THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IT HAS HAPPEN PLEASE HELP. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER V-6 IS SHOWING ESP, BAS CODES AS WELL AS DISABLING BACK UP ASSIST, TRACTION CONTROL STAYS OFF, THE ABS LIGHT, AND SOME TIMES IT WONT CLICK INTO GEAR, DRIVE OR REVERSE. AND IT IS MISS FIRING ON CYLINDER NUMBER FOUR. ALSO ALL THE LIGHTS DIM AND FLICKER. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE IN DECEMBER OF 2012, WE EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WHERE THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING OR SEEMED TO STALL OUT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF INVESTIGATION WE REALIZED THAT OUR KNEES WERE IN PERFECT RANGE TO HIT THE KEY FOB/CHAIN AND FIGURED OUT THAT THE IGNITION HAD BEEN TURNED TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STARTED AFTER WE FIGURED THIS OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED A COMBINED 6 TIMES BETWEEN BOTH DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLE, ONE WHO IS 5'1" AND THE OTHER WHO IS 5'8" TALL. UNFORTUNATELY EXACT DATES FOR ALL OCCURRENCES ARE UNAVAILABLE OR WOULD BE ROUGH ESTIMATES, BUT HAS OCCURRED AS RECENTLY AS APRIL 10 2014. WE DIDN'T REALIZE THAT WE COULD FILE A COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE UNTIL JUST RECENTLY WHEN SEARCHING FOR RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE, OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE DONE SO IN THE PAST. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AT SLOW SPEED, EITHER IN RUSH HR TRAFFIC OR AT STOP LIGHT/SIGN. SPEED IS SLOW, LESS THAN 10MPH. CAN PLACE TRANSMISSION IN PARK/NEUTRAL AND ENGINE RE-STARTS IMMEDIATELY. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY RECENTLY; SOMETIMES HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES PER TRIP. TODAY IT STALLED 3 TIMES ON WAY TO WORK AT VARIOUS STOPS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING. WHEN IT STALLS, THE RED OIL LIGHT AND LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT ARE ON, BUT NOT FLASHING, AND BOTH GO OFF ONCE ENGINE IS RUNNING AGAIN. IT IS THE 5.7L HEMI MOTOR. *TR
WHEN SHIFTING OUT OF PARK, JEEP WILL SHIFT HARD AND LIGHTS AROUND PRND ARE ILLUMINATED AND ERROR MESSAGE "SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM" IS DISPLAYED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU HAVE TO PUT CAR BACK IN PARK AND TURN IT TO THE OFF POSITION TO RESET. SOMETIMES THIS CLEARS IT,SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. AFTER ABOUT 4 TIMES IN A ROW, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON FOR DAYS AT A TIME. THIS ISSUE ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND YOU ARE ACTUALLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED ONCE AND ALMOST REAR ENDED MANY MORE TIMES. LUCKILY WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED, WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT AND ONLY TRAVELING AT A SLOW SPEED SO THERE WAS NO DAMAGE/INJURIES. THIS IS BEGINNING TO HAPPEN ON A DAILY BASIS AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED DUE TO JEEP'S DENIAL THERE IS A PROBLEM AND REFUSAL TO FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE AND THEREFORE SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. AN AUTO PARTS STORE WAS ABLE TO PULL A CODE ONE TIME (U0404) BUT COULDN'T DETERMINE THE MEANING BEHIND THE CODE AND COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. 2007 JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED 5.7L HEMI STALLED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. THIS TIME, MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHEN IT STALLED AND SHE HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE BRAKES OR STEERING BECAUSE THEY DON'T WORK WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS. SHE JUST ABOUT DROVE THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND MUST BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR EVEN WORSE, KILLED. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY UPDATED THE PCM, BUT AS SOON AS I LEFT IT STALLED AGAIN, SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED AN IGNITION COIL. AS SOON AS I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY ON MY WAY HOME, IT STALLED AGAIN. THEY WANT TO REPLACE ALL OF THE IGNITION COILS WHICH WILL COST ABOUT $550, AND THEY CLAIM THIS MAY FIX THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.

I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE SERVICE DEPOT AND HAD IT RAN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FOR AT WHICH TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE FOUND IN THIS MODEL AND EARLIER MODELS AND THAT IT WASN'T COVERED BY THE POWER TRAIN THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED $1100.00 IN REPAIRS TO FIX AN ELECTRONIC TRANSFORMER SHIFT MODULATOR. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR ON OCTOBER 31 FROM A JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE DEALERSHIP AND LESS THAN THREE WEEKS LATER THE CAR IS FOR CRAP. THEY HAVE BEEN FIXED AND ARE NOW BROKEN AGAIN, NOW THE 3RD ROW SEAT CANNOT BE USED FOR PASSENGERS. WATER FROM RAIN IS COMING THROUGH THE DOORS, PUDDLING AT THE BASE OF THE DOOR. THE JEEP WAS IN PARK, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE IT WOULD NOT GO, ALL OF THE PRD WERE LIT UP WITH BLOCKS AROUND THEM. I TURNED OFF THE JEEP AND I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. *TR
