AFTER A SCHEDULE TUNE UP, WHERE TWO COIL PACKS WERE REPLACED, AND A PCM SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED OUR 2007 JEEP COMMANDER BEGAN STALLING AT SLOW SPEEDS. USUALLY UNDER 20 MPH OR AT A STOP WHEN THE ENGINE IS AT OR NEAR IDLE SPEEDS, THE ENGINE WILL OBRUPTLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO ERROR CODE. OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER HAS MADE SEVERAL REPAIR ATTEMPTS INCLUDING REPLACING THE PCM, AND SHIELDING THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS WITH ALUMINUM FOIL. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. THE KEY MUST BE CYCLED TO THE 'OFF' POSITION TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE HAS STALLED AT HIGH SPEEDS A FEW TIMES MAKING FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I AM A MOTHER, WIFE , DAUGHTER. THE BAD THING OF THIS SITUATION IS THAT I HAD THIS REPLACED ONCE BEFORE I HAD 31,505 MILES ON IT AND THE EMS ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED . 4 YRS LATER MILEAGE AT 82,000 MILES THE SAME PART HAS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND ALL THEY CAN SAY WE ARE SORRY THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU. THIS PART IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND INFORMED THAT THE PART (68021352) WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THIS MALFUNCTIONS HAS CAUSED ME TO NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER IN IT. WITH OUT WARNING THIS HAS HAPPENED ONE TO MANY TIMES. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED WHEN I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED BACK IN 2008 I PAID 100.00 NOW TODAY WHEN I HAD IT REPAIRED IT COST 1000.00. FUNNY ISN'T IT THAT OVER 4 YRS THIS PART HAS DOUBLED IN PRICE. AND THE MECHANIC AT CHRYSLER SAYS TO ME OH YEAH I'VE SEEN THIS ALOT ON THIS MODEL. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO CHURCH WITH MY DAUGHTER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING FOR THE 7TH OR 8TH TIME SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS HEAVY TRAFFIC AT 6PM AND IT SCARED HER AND MY 9 YR OLD DAUGHTER TO TEARS. THIS VEHICLE IS A REAL DANGER TO MY FAMILY AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS. IT DOES NOT START AT THIS POINT. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM THE DOCTORS OFFICE MY JEEP WENT DEAD ON ME. I HAD NO. IDEAL WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. IT STARTED BACK UP AND IT HAS HAPPEN TO ME SEVERAL MIRE TIMES SINCE. I TRAVEL WITH MY KIDS AND I'M AFRAID IT IS GOING TO GET US KILLED. PLEASE LET ME KNOW OF ANY RECALLS. *TR
HARD DOWNSHIFT MOSTLY AT LOWER SPEEDS AND SLOWING DOWN. SOMETIMES VERY HARD OTHER TIMES NOT SO HARD BUT DEFINITELY PRESENT. IT HAS SOUNDS LIKE A BANG WITH A JERK ALSO. SOMETHING IS GOING TO BREAK AS THIS IS NOT GOING AWAY. CURRENTLY UNDER WARRANTY AND CAN'T FIX IT. GREAT! WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY WARRANTY IS UP AND IT FALLS APART AND BIG BUCKS TO FIX FROM THE ABUSE IT TOOK BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD I MAY HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. I DON'T FLIPPING THINKS SO. $36,700.00 FOR THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM UNTIL 50K MILES. SOMETHING IS WRONG. ASKING FOR HELP CHRYSLER!! FIX THAT GERMAN TRANSMISSION! MY 2007 HEMI COMMANDER PURCHASED AUG 30TH 2012 HAD A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM YESTERDAY.. I CAN NOT DRIVE IT ALL AT, IT IS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. WHAT SHOULD I DO? *TR
PROBLEM STARTED WITH VEHICLE LOSING POWER ON ACCELERATION FROM DEAD STOP. IT DID THAT TWICE BEFORE THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS PULLING OUT INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC. IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO GARAGE WHICH DETERMINED CODE WERE U0404 (IMPLAUSIBLE DATA RECEIVED FROM ESM), P0607 (ECU INTERNAL PERFORMANCE) AND B1A28 (ECM MISMATCH WITH SKM). DEALERS HAD TWO SHIFTER/ESM ASSEMBLIES IN STOCK. THAT TELLS ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT IT IS. THIS VEHICLE IS PAMPERED AND ONLY DRIVEN ABOUT 5K PER YEAR, MOSTLY WHEN I GOT TO OUR HUNTING CAMP UP STATE. REPAIR COST $1,130.99. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO PONY UP WITH A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE WITHOUT COST AS WELL AS REIMBURSE THOSE OF US WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID TO HAVE THE DEFECT FIXED. SOMEONE COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY SON GOING AROUND 65 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRUCK JEEP COMM, STARTED SLOWING DOWN, AND ALL THE OTHER CARS WERE PASSING BY ME SPEEDING AND BLOWING AT MY. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WONT GO PASS 40 MILES AN HOUR. I HAVE A WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER IS ALWAYS TRYING TO GET OUT OF PAYING IT. *TR
3RD ROW SEAT BELT ON PASSENGER SIDE NEVER WORKED. THE SEAT BELT WOULDN'T LOCK IN. NOW MY 2ND ROW MIDDLE SEAT BELT WILL NOT UNLOCK TO PULL OUT AND BUCKLE. *TR
VEHICLE IS LOOSING POWER, PARK ASSIST LIGHT COMES ON DASH ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER LIGHT!! ALONG DASH IT SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT PARK ASSIST SERVICE?? NOT SURE EXACT WORDS BECAUSE IT POPS ACROSS AND POPS OFF JUST AS QUICKLY.CAR WON'T START RIGHT UP TAKES 1-2 HOURS BEFORE ANYTHING WILL HAPPEN. YESTERDAY WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN. I HAD MY TWO YEAR OLD SON WITH ME.. HAD TO SIT IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER FOR OVER AN HOUR WAITING FOR HELP. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE THREE MONTHS AGO BECAUSE EVERYONE RAVED ABOUT HOW GREAT/DEPENDABLE JEEPS ARE.. BUILT TO LAST?!? MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE JUST STUCK WITH FORD... ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO, MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4, 4.7L, LIMITED, INEXPLICABLY STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR. SINCE THAT FIRST STALLING EPISODE, THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 30 MORE TIMES. IT HAPPENS IN THE CITY, THE FREEWAY, DURING ACCELERATION, AND UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. EACH TIME, THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. FURTHERMORE, THEY TELL ME THAT THIS IS AN ISOLATED PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD ABOUT BEFORE. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A WIDELY REPORTED PROBLEM AND OWNERS REPORT THE SAME EXPLANATIONS FROM THE DEALERSHIPS.
VEHICLE APPEARED TO HESITATE AND EVENTUALLY STALLED LOOSING POWER. ALL INSTRUMENTATION LIGHTS CAME ON DURING THIS EVENT. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY; PLACE THE CAR IN PARK/NEUTRAL; AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THE SAME EVENT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 OTHER TIMES SINCE THE FIRST AT VARYING SPEED (I.E. 35 TO 65 MPH) AND THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS MAKING THIS A VERY DANGEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE EVENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND HE STATED THAT IT COULD BE THE POWER CONTROL MODULE; BUT WAS UNSURE. I'M VERY CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. THE SYMPTOM OF THIS PROBLEM (ENGINE STALL) IS UNPREDICTABLE AND IS A RECIPE FOR A SERIOUS AND LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT. I'VE REVIEWED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REPORTING SIMILAR CONDITIONS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A GLOBAL RECALL ON ALL 2007 JEEP COMMANDERS REPORTING THIS PROBLEM TO HAVE THIS ISSUES REPAIRED BEFORE THERE IS A LOSS OF LIFE RESULTING FROM THIS EVENT. NHTSB PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS COMPLAINT AND COMPEL CHRYSLER TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE AND LIFE THREATENING INJURY OCCURS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHO REFERRED HER TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ACCELERATED FROM STOP LIGHT AND VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. *TR
THE SERVICE PARK ASSIST LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THEM ALL THE GEAR INDICATORS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL LIGHT UP AND VEHICLE STALL WHEN DRIVING AND LOSE ALL POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE OF TIMES AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. SCAN CODE ONLY SHOWS ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE (ESM) IS BAD. MY WIFE WAS PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A SIDE ROAD ONE OF THE TIMES THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY SEVERAL CARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN 25 MORE MILES AS THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS POSSIBLY CAUSED BY A SPARK PLUG MALFUNCTION. THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED AND FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER THEN ADVISED THAT A COIL COULD HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE BUT THEY WERE UNSURE, AS THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND AFTER FIVE WEEKS OF RESEARCH, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE OR DIAGNOSE THE MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE MANIFOLD AIR PRESSURE NEEDED TO BE RESET IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,448 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,872.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE REVERSE POSITION, THE KEY WAS REMOVED WITHOUT THE IGNITION BEING TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE KEY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, SHE NOTICED FLUIDS FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM THE RACK AND PINION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP.THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
VEHICLE, A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4WD, STOPPED MOVING FORWARD, FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, RPMS WENT UP BUT VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE FORWARD. I LET OFF THE GAS, THEN IT JERKED A COUPLE OF TIMES, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT STARTED TO MOVE NORMALLY. WHILE IN THE ATM DRIVE THRU, PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE, PUT IT IN PARK AGAIN, THEN SHIFTED DOWN TO DRIVE AND IT MOVED. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS A SHIFT MODULE ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 42200 MILES ON IT. WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THE $16000.00 PLUS COST TO REPAIR. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS IS THE LAST JEEP I WILL OWN. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME PROBLEM THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED EIGHT TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT RECEIVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
DRIVING AT 65MPH WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE STALLED. LOST POWER STEERING AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHIFTED INTO PARK, TURNED IGNITION OFF, THEN RESTARTED IT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND DID NOT RUN RIGHT. VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE AND RPMS WERE RUNNING VERY HIGH. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER FOUND ONE STORED CODE, FOUND DEFECTIVE SOLENOID PACK. *TR
JEEP JUST SIMPLY STALLS. IN SEVERAL OCCASIONS COMING TO A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THE JEEP WOULD JUST DIE. I WOULD HAVE TO RESTART. THE RPM GAUGE WOULD ABRUPTLY START MOVING ERRATICALLY UP AND DOWN A FEW THOUSANDS OF RPM GAUGE WOULD MOVE AND THE ENGINE WOULD ACT LIKE A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE WOULD AND JUST STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST 5 YEARS. I HAVE COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I TAKE IT IN FOR OIL CHANGES. THEY NEVER CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTIC CODES RECEIVED ON THE VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER WOULD HAVE TO BE CONTACTED FOR FURTHER GUIDANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90,500.
THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO SLAM INTO GEAR UPON RELEASE OF THE ACCELERATOR WHEN SLOWING DOWN UPON THE AUTOMATIC DOWNSHIFTING THAT TAKE PLACE. SOMETIME IS SEEMS QUITE VIOLENT AND OTHER TIMES NOT TO BAD BUT VERY NOTICEABLE. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS SAME EXACT COMPLAINT. HOWEVER THE FIX THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY DID WAS TEMPORARY. IT IS BACK AGAIN AND IS WORRISOME TO ME. ALSO THE DRIVER SIDE WIDOW DOES NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN PROPERLY WITHOUT SLAMMING HARD NEAR THE CLOSE OR OPEN AND SOMETHING INSIDE RATTLES PRETTY BAD. THE DEALER ALSO HAS REPAIRED THIS AND IT WAS ALSO TEMPORARY, REALLY NEVER FIXED. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER IT RAINED WATER WOULD LEAK THROUGH THE SUN ROOF. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN TO A DEALER TO INSPECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS DURING LENGTHY TRIPS OF 100 MILES OR MORE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50 - 70 MPH. EACH TIME IT STALLED I WAS ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE AND HAD TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. SLOWING DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AGAIN COMING CLOSE TO CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF SO MUCH TRAFFIC., THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES CAUSE GRID LOCK AND CHAOS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON TODAY. THE SEATBELTS ALSO HAVE BROKEN SEVERAL TIMES. I'VE REPLACED 2 SEPARATE SEATBELT CASES (THE OUTER COVER) IN THE PAST YEAR. THE MIDDLE, SECOND ROW SEATBELT IS LOCKED UP AND CURRENTLY UNUSABLE. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE FIRST TIME I PUT UP THE 3RD ROW SEAT, THE SEATBELT WAS CRUSHED BY THE SEAT AND BROKEN. CRUISE SHUT OFF AND THERE WAS A "DING". JUST LIKE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT JUST DIED FOR A SECOND. THEN, MY SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT DID THE SAME THING EXCEPT THIS TIME IT COMPLETELY DIED. IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE AND DYING COMPLETELY AROUND 6-7 TIMES. DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE GOING 25 OR 75. IT CAN HAPPEN WHENEVER. ONE OF THE TIMES MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. SHE WAS IN THE LEFT LANE WITH A DIESEL IN THE RIGHT LANE. SHE ENDED UP STUCK IN THE DITCH. THANKFULLY NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES. HAVE HAD 3 MECHANICS LOOK AT IT AND STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. *TR
